#monthly reading lists #books #a nicely restrained list #mostly made up of my strong september associations #of course it's psmith pseptember so i must read at least a chapter or two #(i know too well that i don't have the discipline to expect more but i would like a taste)#sherlock holmes audiobooks made great commute reading during several septembers and now it's a vital part of the season #(i'll prob only read one or two short stories rather than try for a whole volume)#i've vaguely been feeling i'm due for a hobbit reread for a few months #but now it hit me strongly that i must read it in audio #(if i can't find a good audio version i'll have to skip that item)#i read 'surprised by joy' one september while my sister was in ireland and i was missing it #and now it feels right especially because there's an oxford academia vibe that's great for back-to-school #i want to read some kind of female-written mystery #but yet to decide if i want victorian sensation novel or agatha christie #or if i'll just try a vaguely gothic christian novel #an english squire gets on the list thanks to thatscarletflycatcher and it just feels right to have that be my next obscure classic #i wanted something for back-to-school but i didn't know if i wanted a non-psmith school story or what #so i just went with nonfiction because it's about me learning new things #also several things that didn't make the list but may be read #i was very close to putting the tenant of wildfell hall on the list #but i don't want the pressure #if i do read it it needs to be something i'm not required to do #i will probably try to finish chesterton's 'varied types'#and prob read more emma m lion #and maybe pride and prejudice on audio?

Blaine, Sam and Finn have a group chat dedicated to talking abt Dropout content and their love of Sam Reich and Brennan Lee Mulligan. They all share the one account, which Kurt pays for.

They decide to run a DnD game and Blaine buys dyslexia friendly character sheets for Sam who ends up loving it so much he becomes the forever DM.

Kurt distantly liked the stuff Blaine would watch but only became a fellow die hard dropout fan after Dungeons and Dragons Queens.

idk if people genuinely do panic about leaving comments on old fics, but tbh as someone who has older fics that are still somewhat popular, one of my favorite comments to get is from someone who says that they are coming back to reread or that they're "finally" leaving a comment after rereading so often. i always reread my favorite fics over and over, so it fills me w/joy when i get those comments even - or especially - for fics that were written years ago.

#liveblogging life #just got one of these on my hobbit fic that still gets consistent comments/kudos and is probably my most popular fic still #and tbh it gives me such joy! i love knowing people reread my stuff!#also i put finally in quotes bc i genuinely never feel like someone 'has' to leave comments no matter how much they reread or w/e #comments are like a little extra treat for me - i love them but i'm usually just baffled to get them lmao #bc the fics i write are... so genuinely written directly to my own tastes and for my own enjoyment #i share them a) bc it's fun b) bc publishing them gives me more motivation to finish them since there's accountability involved #and c) bc then i sometimes get little comment treats!#but like... the idea that i'm 'owed' comments or that readers MUST comment is just like. so wildly different to how i view things #that EVERY TIME i see fic writers making posts about it im kind of like... lmao okay and move on #anyway just saying this bc it does give me a little glowy feeling every time & people just really shouldnt ever be anxious #when they comment on old fics. authors love that shit lol

I’M STILL NOT OVER THE GRIT THING.

Listen, the difference between “grit” and “conviction” is the difference between “stubborn” and “dedicated.” They both mean “perseverance” but one is about never stopping and one is about always continuing. The tone and implication are different! Grit is closer to stubbornness, and conviction is closer to dedication. AND THAT DIFFERENCE MATTERS.

My gosh, I've been down a nostalgia rabbit hole and been going back to knb and nijiaka and noticed that you were still active. You've given me and other nijiakas precious memories, bless you and hope you have a lovely day!

For once, my timing was just right: coming home to see this precious ask and have the time to answer it. Today is blessed.

NijiAka is still in my heart, so utterly precious, NijiAka has become part of my soul, altered my life in many ways, and to this day I still reread my favourite fics (some of which I would love to rec or talk about TONS) and stare at my favourite pieces of art and follow my favourite Japanese artists and doujinka, still hunt for merch so I can add it to my collection, and think of them regularly.

I would still be actively talking about them if there were people who were interested in chatting about them. Just saying. You can totally take that as an invitation. Just saying.

#agggtm is so dependent on text (in my mind at least) that i knew they'd have to change a lot #and i saw the episode lengths and amount of episodes and was like:#with how much is gonna get cut and the way the book is structured this could work #haha no #its not funny its meant to be funny it just hurts #10 minutes until we even see the deuteragonist #why do pips friends like...hate her?? that's not banter thats uncomfortable where are my quips #also what was that opening scene???#not the andi thing that was kind of cool #the shop bit???#where is my walk towards the singh household from behind pips head with her face being reflected on the door??#why must everything be conflict???#this is not how epq's work???#the transcripted interviews could have been so cool with pip typing them along to the recording and cutting to the interview #usually its movies and shows getting straight to the point but in the book ravi was introduced on the second page #casting was incredible though #other than matthew baynton #too pretty and cool and joy inducing on sight to be elliott ward #screaming on the ceiling #agggtm #a good girls guide to murder #rereading the books to console myself #don't know if i want to suffer through more in the hopes it'll get better or abandon ship while i still can
