Hi hi its me, the strawboy, again
Yeah so. AzuYuu (Specifically Azul x Yuuto my boy) brainrot has demolished me so here are some notes about them at you didn’t ask for : )
-Yuuto feeling that he’s not good enough for anything because of how he was raised, so he mentally convinces himself no one would ever truly love him and would just want his money or something like that
-Azul dealing with his self hatred and expectations for himself, convincing himself that no one would want to be around him without getting something out of it
-Yuuto who’s terrified of his friends leaving when he’s no longer useful to them/Azul who’s terrified of the same thing
-Yuuto who’s still dealing with the trauma of his last romantic relationship; who’s love language (both romantic and platonic) is gift giving and acts of service because he feels like thats all he can do
-Azul who’s not used to people doing things for him without wanting/needing something from him
-Yuuto who does favors for Azul without ever asking for anything in return, Azul pressing him to ask him for something so that he won’t “owe” Yuuto anything; Yuuto who refuses to ask for something because Azul doesn’t owe him anything
-Azul who finds himself intrigued with Yuuto on first meeting because of how “brave” he was for opposing him; Azul who finds himself slowly falling for Yuuto because of how he treated him, even during the contact and then afterwards
-Azul who’s oddly (in his words) touched by Yuuto’s little monologue in the museum after his overblot, Azul who doesn’t know how to categorize how he’s feeling
-Azul who doesn’t realize why he wants to be around Yuuto so much, so he thinks that he just wants to recruit him to the Mostro Lounge because of his work ethic
God why do i make them like this
anyways, i hope you’re having a good day/night/whatever pls drink water and eat a snack when you see this
-🍓
yo T^T what the heck sawyer T^T
legit crying and sobbing bc whyyyy did you make them like that arggrhfgshdfghjsflsjf
the part about giving gifts to azul is like probably the funniest thing ever bc yuuto would persist in trying to give azul gifts while azul would try hard to reject it...and then when azul finally gets it, the whole thing would start again but opposites this time. yuuto telling azul he doesn't need anything at every turn UNTIL yuuto gives in as well (which'll probably take a long time)
and ofc azul is on his bs, trying to convince himself that he's intrigued by an anomaly rather than actually genuinely wanting to be friends n more with yuuto...
thanks for sending this in ^^ it was interesting to see someone else's yuusona interacting w/ twst chars and yuuto's such a good boy sobsss i hope he and azul work it out,,,,,they deserve to be happy arghhh
(and i made sure to take a sip of water so >:DD hope you're also taking careeee)

okay i've talked about this in tags and stuff before but i want to really break down the dorian - ashton dynamic, because it's so interesting. there are a lot of ways in which dorian and ashton are perfectly opposed, and there are also a lot of ways that they're deeply similar, and something about it is just fascinating to me.
they're both genasi, but one is air and one is earth. one was born into wealth and privilege, while the other spent most of their childhood in an orphanage in bassuras, and yet they both have very complex feelings about their parentage and their birthright and the power that comes with it. they're both frontline fighters who started c3 with the same strength score, but ashton uses a massive hammer and chaotic, uncontrollable powers, while dorian uses bardic flourishes and precise spells. ashton was abandoned by the closest thing they had to family, while dorian was the one to leave his own family. ashton is -2 charisma covered up with brashness and projected confidence, while dorian is +3 charisma but too nervous to use it effectively half the time. they both end up being treated as a sort of leader in their parties, much to their own surprise. dorian is this inexperienced, sheltered prince seeing the world for the first time, and ashton is frequently the voice of reason in bells hells, the one who knows how the real world works ("does no one crime?", reminding them that their actions will have consequences for others, pointing out that leaving someone to die is not actually better than killing them by hand).
in exu, dorian tells lolth that he would do anything to protect his friends, even if it would hurt others, and he meant it so deeply that his alignment changed from chaotic good to chaotic neutral. he got into an argument with orym because he wanted them to keep lolth's circlet, a decision influenced by his family history with power and responsibility. and now ashton took the shard, searching for power, motivated by the longing for his parents and his birthright and it is such a juicy parallel.
it's "i would do anything for my friends" vs "we don't leave anyone behind".
the first kiss of the campaign is dorian kissing ashton's cheek after the ratanish fight as an excuse to get close enough to heal him and tell him "we need you". ashton curses quietly when he realizes dorian has to go with cyrus. "to dorian, who is leaving us for his stupid brother. what the fuck is up with that." ashton says dorian is "our bag of dicks".
they're just so interesting. they're such interesting contrasts, both symbolically and in their characters, and i really hope that when (don't say 'if' it's gotta be a 'when' i am clinging to this) dorian comes back their relationship gets explored more.

Some cute Ai/Hikaru and Aqua/Kana parallels I found as in they have friendly banter
(spoiler ch 140)
Ofc both Dynamics are very different but they just banter over the most silliest things, and Ai and Hikaru were just downright petty when they couldn't decide who was weirder out of them both Hikaru just resorted to pointing out Ai's mismatched socks😂while Kana just likes to tease Aqua over the most insane stuff that are somehow true most of the time.
There's also this
Hikaru/Ai also have a lot of parallels to Akane/Aqua as well but that's for another post
I'll just drop in these cute pics as well because why not?
Also side note my exam is tomorrow and they only informed me today now I have only a day to prep 😭

Conflicting dynamics between Michael and his siblings are so intriguing. I feel like a lot of people slant strongly one way or the other– he's either protrayed as a good brother who's been thrust into a parental role and does everything for his siblings, or as a complete monster of a kid who spends all of his spare time tormenting his little brother– but it's more interesting to me when it's both.
The Michael who cruelly locks his brother in a room surrounded by the things he fears most and the Michael who tries to redirect his father's abuse away from Evan and towards himself are the same person.
The Michael who did his sister's hair every morning is the same Michael who tore apart her toys when he was angry with her, and both parts of him were there when he found himself crying in her room at the realization she was never coming home.
On top of that, they probably had a lot of very normal moments, too. They played outside together in the summer and tried to pawn their chores off on each other. There was one song they all liked when it came on the radio, and they made fun of the adults they knew when nobody else was around. None of them knew how to talk about their feelings, but, when one of them had been having a really rough time, they'd find that the breakfast Mikey made the next morning was their favorite, or Evan's favorite show had been put on even when Elizabeth had the remote, or an anonymous party had left a really cool rock on Michael's bedside table.
It must have been strange from the younger kids' perspectives, especially Evan's. Your brother keeps making you cry on purpose, and he's so, so mean, for no reason at all, but you know the bruise under his eye had been meant for you.

just thinking out loud here but i feel like a lot of popular perception of kon esp in online fandom spaces is colored by his joie de vivre and all the times he's silly and goofy. which i do of course adore!! i love when he's silly and goofy. but comparing that perception to, that of like, clark or kara, i feel like kon gets shunted into the box of "dumb comic relief character" a lot more easily. lots of factors probably contribute to that (sb94 having a bad rep, while no other kon comic really goes into a lot of his tragedy; conflation with the side of the fandom that doesn't read comics; the fact that comparatively postcrisis kara doesn't have a team the way kon has yj and clark is seen as a more capable adult, so other characters in the jl get the "dumb comic relief" short end of the stick more often; etc) ...
... but what really gets me about him is that he does embody a lot of the same traits as the rest of the kryptonian superfam. he's so extremely kind. he's got that same noble heart as the rest of them; he cares about everyone and he wants to protect everyone. and he's so, so lonely. he struggles between cultures and worlds where he feels like he doesn't belong to either. he is so strong and capable and holds so much power that it scares him.
cradles him gently in my hands. he contains multitudes... come closer don't you want to love him 🥺

So is that awful and ill placed and thought out daddy kink joke supposed to be a set up for Buck season 8?? For Buck actually exploring his trauma around his father and around Bobby??
Is it supposed to be the set up for Buck realising he is still on the hamster wheel of relationships where he’s in it for the emotional connection and his partner is only in it for sex?
Is that what this is - because I have spent my night trying to figure out what other reason there could possibly be for dropping that ‘joke’ at that moment and making that scene weird?
Buck is clearly more invested in the relationship than Tommy is - you can see Buck is still invested and engaged in his first queer relationship - that he’s still a bit starry eyed over Tommy - but that scene was screaming Abby 2.0 at me - Tommys behaviour was very similar to Abby’s in my opinion.
And while I’m not mad at that as a concept - Tommy being similar to Abby makes a fair amount of sense - in the same way she helped move Buck from playboy to relationship material (I maintain the playboy persona was a mask and coping mechanism for his loneliness) Tommy is helping him move from straight to queer - unlocking another part of himself.
But if that is the case - that scene - that set up - was just not it.
Every other main had at least a fair hint of what there arc will be for season 8, but Buck didn’t really - yes it was made clear he’ll be there for Eddie (and Chris) but that journey is Eddie’s not Bucks - Buck had no hint of an arc for himself so I’m left trying to figure out what they’re doing with him and this is where I’m at.
