had the absolute best time playing @the-kingshound demo!! im a big fan of arthurian legend and i love how the author took it and made it better mhm; so i felt like drawing my new faves Gwyar and Morien

Face Model: Gwyar from The King's Hound

My take of Female Gwyar from Interactive Fiction called "The King's Hound" by @the-kingshound @kal-down.

Of all the cast, I imagine her features to be more on the cute and pretty side, sitting somewhere in the middle of 'soft' and 'sharp.' Intelligent hazel eyes, straight dark hair, guarded yet amiable face.

I like that she has both the (professional) friendliness to make people feel at ease, yet has the wits and snark to catch them off guard. Playing a cold, mute MC against Female Gwyar is very satisfying. And goodness, this is just the first few chapters... Can't wait for more to come.

(A big no no to fanwars over the ROs, but... Hmm, what shall we call it? The fand--I mean, cult? Gwyardians? Godwyars? Groars?)

In a poly with Arthur and Gwyar I can see Hound carrying a mortified looking Gwyar under their arm as they're walking through the halls of Camelot.

Hound's stride is one of purpose, their gaze searching. As they had predicted, they find Arthur in conversation with some random courtiers not far from the royal's living quarters.

Without prompting or warning Hound gently yet firmly takes hold of Arthur's hand and pulls him away from the conversation.

Arthur isn't surprised or, as the courtiers would've expected, outraged at being pulled away from royal duties. Instead basically saying: "It seems I have forgotten some prior engagements, ta-ta for now."

Once inside Arthur's chambers, Gwyar is deposited on the bed, Arthur is quickly made to join them, taking a place at Gwyar's side. Hound takes the opposite side and proceeds to wrap their arms around both the royal and the servant.

Arthur, curious at both of his his darlings' respective behaviours, asks why all three of them are cuddling in bed in the middle of the day.

Hound stays quiet for a moment and then looks at Gwyar, then Arthur, before simply stating, "Working too much, not enough rest."

It isn't really clear who the statement is directed at, but regardless of who of the three it concerns, Arthur is more than happy to take a break.

Meanwhile, or afterwards, the court is quietly abuzz with rumours about the king's spouse supposed "bedroom proclivities" as well as the sheer brazen audacity of "manhandling" the king.

Hound is the quiet, caretaking type and after the angst you've been inflicting on us, I'd say a bit fluff is more than welcome.

Thank you for the fluff❤ The manhandling of the king will be on the mouth of everyone, while Arthur just sits on the throne the next few days daydreaming about how they want it to happen again and about the good group cuddles.

Meanwhile Gwyar mysteriously being more relaxed than ever in the next days, not a wet hissing cat anymore.

Regardless, I feel like every TKH MC would like to rip Lance to pieces for the way he treats Mordred, my Arthur would kindly roast Merlin and they would also find Accolon a very pleasant person to say the least.

The feeling would be mutual for Accolon! And I think in general he'd be very happy to befriend the cast of TKH.

My Arthur would also try to befriend yours. He'd be kinda nervous and extra polite in the beginning, but I think he'd easily relax around him and enjoy talking about ruling and other stuff.

I uh, I don't know how your Arthur would feel about Morgana 👀 but supposing they don't know the extent of her actions, they could potentially bond over how awful their respective Uther had been to them?

Morgana would try to get close to Gwyar because, well, the one who knows secrets holds the power 👀 But she might actually end up enjoying their company, given they're open to having her around.

Galahad would be nice/polite to everyone tho there is the possibility he might come off a bit aloof, since he's not very talkative and doesn't smile that much.

Galahad could benefit from having a friend like Evaine tho (obviously he has Gawain and Elaine who always have his best intentions at heart and try to help him, but it never hurts to have more people like that!), if they were willing to befriend Galahad.

Gawain just wants to befriend everyone! (including Morien, new grumpy friend to make!)

Similarly, Elaine just wants to get along with everyone. Both Elaine and Galahad would be open to training/sparring with Yniol and Evaine, since they consider this a way of bonding and learning more about the other person.

Sophie would love to sit down and talk with your Arthur, especially about ruling and what vision each of them have. Could also see her making an effort to get along with everyone else.

I think befriending your ros would be very healing for Agravain!

Nimue mostly keeps to herself, unless approached, and usually approaches people with an interest/motive in mind, but she's open to any of the ros befriending her.

Gwyndolynne "Gwennett"

The seventh child of House Venegard who is also the Royal Consort of King Arthur Pendragon of Camelot, the son of the infamous ruthless king King Uther Pendragon. Not only known as the king's royal consort, but also known as "The King's Hound".

Gwennett can be described as intimidating and aloof but polite. Growing up in an environment where each of his actions are limited, watched, and judged. He learned to be reserved, keeping his words and opinions to himself. He always forces themselves to be satisfied with what they have, they never complain, they just accept everything they have and what he is.

Having such a childhood and being forced to grow up, stoicism became part of Gwennett. With his parents and oldest sister having full control over him, masking his discomfort and pain away is his way of living ever since their childhood was taken from them. They find that expressing such things shows weakness, after all, they grew up knowing that all warriors should suffer silently.

But of course, beneath that intimidating exterior, there is a gentle and kind heart in there. They know that as a commander he is trained to be by his family that he needs to be cruel and assert authority to those who are below him, Gwennett never liked the idea of that.

However, he knows that he has to, so he will.

Being married to the king of Camelot gave them a little bit of freedom. Being away from their parents made him know that there are not many judging eyes watching him compared back home and that it's time to let his guards down since it is time to have a peace of mind with the freedom he has. But they can't, they will soon, but not too soon.

When they married Arthur, they thought that they were just given as gift to the king. Because he is not just his royal consort, Gwennett is also their commander, who earned the title of "The King's Hound" which he is very much indifferent towards. Meaning Gwennett has a job to do other than being known as the royal consort. Thus, with this thought, he thinks that he doesn't belong here and that he will never be. They don't deserve to be one of the people their husband call "family". Gwennett's trust for them is yet to be earned.

It might take a lot of time for their trust to be earned by the people around them. But once they do, he will lower his guard for the new people he cares about and he will visibly show that he is fond of them unlike before. Especially for both Arthur and Gwyar whom they are very drawn by. Finally having some people to watch over and protect, they might become a little bit obsessive, in the healthy way of course.

Gwennett would absolutely see themselves at Mordred. Broken and alone. Possibly, Mordred might be the first person in Camelot who might make Gwennett lower their guard than anyone. Gwennett will watch over Mordred like he is their own son, he swore that he will protect him and give him the attention and love Gwennett himself wanted from his own parents. If he can't have it, then Mordred can.

While they are a great strategist and were also great at their course of work, they also like to do some things outside of being the king's commander...

Gwennett likes to wear dresses when they are not working or not in the battlefield, with blue being their favorite color. He also likes to sew, knit, and needlework. He often makes and designs his own dresses, using his talent of the needle to make his own clothes, though it was only sometimes when they are not too busy with duties. They also enjoys reading some books, whether they are just stories or educational, especially while drinking tea and eating some sweet treats.

While they are very skilled at using a needle, they can also cook and know how to look after and take care of a garden. Though unlike his other interests, he didn't have the time to polish these two skills since there a no reason for him to do so back home since there are servants who can do that and that there are other things he should be doing. But with his newfound freedom in Camelot given to him by his husband, he wouldn't mind if they can polish those skills now.

And Gwennett wouldn't mind looking after and training some hounds, they thinks that they look cute and fits their aesthetic.

Gwennett flirts boldly, considering that they have some former crushes in the past which gave them a little bit of experience to flirt, though he never got into a real relationship before. And he likes to be dominant and take charge in the bedroom, he likes guiding his partner(s) through the sexual pleasure and making sure that everyone is satisfied. Though he doesn't have to be at the top all the time...

AND that is my mc for @the-kingshound's work called "The King's Hound" even though there are no demo yet, I already have my mc plan even WAY back. Like, several months ago, but I get to post my MCs now. Though some information may change because there is no demo yet. And I hope you're looking forward to the demo as much as I do!

In all seriousness, Elaine is kind under many…many layers. She’s just been burned one times too many to show that to anyone. Beneath it all, she’s convinced no one could really love her and she’s not quite sure she could love anyone back, either.

Until Gwyar. The fool gets her flustered for the first time in years.

All in all she’s protective, fiercely loyal, far more capable of love than she thinks, and certainly not above spilling a bit of blood.

My Hound is On Edge. they aren't happy about the situation, but what can they do about it? all they always dud was following the orders, that's what they can do best. war left them hardened (their in game stats are cold and intimidating), and they do their best to keep distance from people in the castle. they can't be sure for how long this hospitality will last and if its genuine at this point, especially since they found out that they disfigured one of the king's knights. they already sleep on the floor and only take cold baths, so even if the king decides to take away the comfort of the room they reside in, barely anything would change. at least they won't have to deal with getting used to hard floor and cold again after trying the luxuries of a soft bed and hot baths in that case.

as a player I actually have no idea how to put this guy on a romantic route they're so deep in self-loathing 😭 I'm slowly picking more caring options (going for the Gwayr/Morien poly), I'm not even sure they can realize their feelings without help, someone would definitely need to coach them to actually confess ajsjjdjallks

The way so many Hounds are absolutely convinced the moment Arthur learns about Bedivere they will be stripped bare of necessities luxuries... meanwhile Arthur already knows and is just adjusting the schedules so that Bedivere doesn't have to see MC but is still in route of marrying them and making them as comfortable as possible

The Gwyar/Morien poly works perfectly both with a more affectionate and soft MC and with a hardened one, since both ROs aren't pushy in terms of verbal affection but rather caring with gestures

Kal, honestly, the King's Hound is my favorite IF, and tbh, I read the Arthur/comfort/falling asleep snippet at least once per week to help ME fall asleep. Thank you for creating this beautiful IF. The most recent update exceeded my very high expectations. Every character intro was *chef's kiss*. I cannot wait to fall in love with/befriend each an every one of your ROs. My question is this- how would the ROs react to MC saying their first "I love you" by accident? (Ex: "Goodbye! I love you!")

As for your ask

Arthur: he would actually reply something sweel like "me too" and only realize a momeng later that you meant in a romantic way. They seem curious now. Do you mean it? Because they do. They love you. But he never dared to say it out loud in fear of ruining what you had.

Evaine: would probably need to metabolize that. They struggle to believe you really mean it - people have said similar things to them in the past and they never meant it in the end. Although, you have been different from the start, so maybe if you keep saying that they could start believing it.

Yniol: totally taken by surprise, although they keep behaving like nothing happened. This is a confirmation that you really like them, though. They feel so happy and glad and warm inside.

Morien: you too, uh? They have thought about saying those same words before, but never actually did - there would not be a way back from that. They are susprised, but they try to make it seem like they think nothing of it. They will ask themselves if it's really true.

Gwyar: they're speachless. It was clearly an accident, but still, do you really feel that for them? They try to swallow down the doubt that makes its way through them. Because if what you said is true, they might say it back.

The first thing you noticed about her was her eyes.

They were like molten gold.

The color, unusual, and even could be called exotic, would glint even brighter under the merest touch of light. That, you noticed when she had stepped into your sun-bathed room.

Then, there was the way she carried herself. Confident, sure, yet with an apparent grace that would befit someone of a higher station. Had fate cast a different dice and let her be born in a noble house, drapes of silk, fine linen, and ornate jewelry would without a doubt complement her person--though you suspected they would become mere accessories, as she was more than capable to captivate the eyes of anyone and everyone in any ball she chooses to attend.

Clothe her in a simple servant's attire, however, and she'd put those into good use just as well: blink, and you would not even notice she was sharing a room with you. That was how she had taught herself to operate, you supposed, with her job being to serve in the background. Even so, compared to the many servants you had encountered in the past, Gwyar was simply...different.

What was this uncanny ability of hers that made her able to blend with practically the walls? Or were all servants in Camelot trained differently?

You guessed you'd never know. There were too many foreign things in this land, too many new customs for you to absorb and learn should you wish to survive.

Then, there was another thing. This had been the bigger surprise about the servant, was that she noticed.

She noticed many little details that you'd scarcely cared, like the color of the curtains in your room, the way the furniture was arranged, and little spots on a bronze basin she was quick to clean. Most jarring of all, she noticed you.

It had been an ingrained habit of yours to stay silent and observe others. Not many people you encountered were privileged enough to have learned sign language. Or even when they were equipped with some knowledge of it, not many had considered your thoughts or presence to be worth their notice. Not much, anyway.

Or what food would you prefer in the morning when army rations had been your staple diet for most of your adolescent years?

Letting out a sigh you did not realize you had been withholding, you turned in your bed, once again marveling at how soft and pliant it was. You could almost smell a hint of earthy fragrance. Was it musk?

Hah. Another discovery: you never knew one would spend a dime just to perfume their quilt and beddings. How much budget had King Arthur allocated to impress you, really? Was this all even necessary? Seeing that everything relating to your accommodation had been handed by Gwyar, had this been her idea too?

But you had to acknowledge that it was effective: soon you found your eyelids getting heavier and your muscles relaxing. Your eyes wandered briefly to the waning fire that weakly crackled across your bed. The color, unusual, and even could be called exotic, would glint even brighter under the merest touch of light. That, you noticed when he had stepped into your sun-bathed room.

Then, there was the way he carried herself. Confident, sure, yet with an apparent ease that would befit someone of a higher station. Had fate cast a different dice and let him be born in a noble house, drapes of silk, fine linen, and ornate jewelry would without a doubt complement his person--though you suspected they would become mere accessories, as he was more than capable to captivate the eyes of anyone and everyone in any ball he chooses to attend.

Clothe him in a simple servant's attire, however, and he'd put those into good use just as well: blink, and you would not even notice he was sharing a room with you. That was how he had taught himself to operate, you supposed, with his job being to serve in the background. Even so, compared to the many servants you had encountered in the past, Gwyar was simply...different.

What was this uncanny ability of his that made him able to blend with practically the walls? Or were all servants in Camelot trained differently?
