I recall you saying that The Don hasn’t been entirely faithful to his wife. That’s odd, because aren’t most Alphas very loyal? Why did he stray? Terry himself tells Daniel that he couldn’t be with another omega because it feels like ashes in his mouth.
Why does Michael hate being told he has pretty eyes? What do “they” say about beta boys with pretty eyes anyways? Does Michael feel sensitive about the comment since he maybe feel a tiny bit insecure that he’s not an Alpha or something, and “just” a beta?
Did Daniel go to Michael asking about the other omega and her baby or did Michael come to him? Does Terry know Daniel’s been asking?
“You'd have him shame you, then, fratellino? Again?” This line stung more than anything else, because it’s truly SHAMEFUL what Terry did omg. I’m never getting over the sheer horror and cruelty of it arghhhhh
Thanks for the fill. Daniel’s breaking my heart again baby boy 😭 I just want him to go home and have Terry make sweet sweet love to him or at least cuddle him extra in all honesty.
When Antonio LaRusso was an immigrant establishing himself, I feel like they may have held his beta wife - and lack of pups, at least at first - against him. What kind of Alpha was he, one without balls? And even later.... he may have been offered a heat or two as an offer he shouldn't refuse, or indeed something he may have succumbed to, but he found the practice entirely distasteful and trained himself out of falling for a heat. He did try to use that trick on Terry, who also withstood it. So the Don been with omegas as a sort of occupational hazard, only taking the one or two heats, later having learnt to help other kitties through it without straying himself. He'd never tell and those enemies of his youth are dead. Lucille has seen the shame it brought him and forgave him. She's looked away more than once, was this worse than killing after all? The main point being not to do it again, and to certainly not disrespect her on purpose. And she could see he had learnt the next time someone tried it. But it was harder for both Terry and the Don than it was for Kreese, who might be demisexual if anybody ever looked into it. He feels that the Alpha/beta bond should be as strong as Alpha/omega and for him it is. But Alpha/omega hormones are a potent cocktail.
Similarly, I think that beta men in my omegaverse are quite heavily sexualised. Since there aren't enough omegas to go around for every Alpha, and there are very stunning Alpha women and men who are all young and horny, and having sex with a beta girl may get them pregnant in a way that our world takes for granted but their world is more than a little freaked out by - why not date a beta boy? No risk of pregnancy there! Of course only until they can get a 'real' mate. It's quite demeaning and it did sharpen Michael's sharp edges further. Try that with him and you'll be very swiftly dealt with. Daniel is not the only boy in the family who could cut a bitch.
The cheating is shameful indeed but Michael is making this about Daniel being demeaned by it and by extension, the family - and that is so horrible. Because even though the only one who should be shamed is Terry, Daniel too feels shamed by it, that just happens. And though he's wrong to put it on Daniel, Michael is right that some may see Terry being forgiven as a kind of LaRusso weakness. That's machos for ya.
I believe that Daniel indeed held his mate very, very tightly that night and absolutely refused to say why, which made Terry assume it was Michael because he always assumes it's Michael, but Jaysis that is a hard man to kill! I think they've both survived several orchestrated "accidents" by now. Terry would lose an open gang war with the LaRussos, so shooting Michael is out of the question, but he is wary of Italians and old mob and he is the liaison for new business so it's hard to trick him by hiring a newbie hitman. The old mob is loyal to the LaRussos, though, and Michael doesn't go anywhere a newbie could slip in unnoticed, so for now, they're at a stalemate and forced to tolerate each other at dinner.

Fighting Style:
Jessie has gotten her powers before Danny, so she was able to practice with them and later control them. After Danny got his powers, that's when Jessie showed her powers to him and the two became a ghost fighting team. She does her best to help teach him how to control his powers and teaches him how to fight by using Judo since Jessie learns how to fight in martial arts from her father. Jessie likes to kick and punch, but she finds kicking more powerful than punching. And because she is flexible, kicking is as easy as breathing. She also realized that her dancing can be used to fight her enemies and avoid their attacks, so because of this, she likes close combat than distance combat.
Backstory
Birth:
Jessie was born as the youngest child, and was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Early Life:
Jessie's parents once owned a small ranch with animals such as cows, chickens and horses. Jessie always loves horses as long as she can remember, her father puts her in a saddle even before she learned how to walk. She loves riding horses so much to the point she even learns how to ride them with and without a horse saddle and reins. She used to watch wrestling with her father as long as she can remember, so even though her mother disapproves of this, Jessie continues to watch wrestling shows with her father such as WWE.
Her father was once a judo expert trainer before he met Jessie's mother, who worked at a ranch her whole life, but still found a job at a local office, so he taught Jessie and her sisters how to fight and defend themselves at a young age. Even though the era of Greasers has ended, there are some descendants of the greasers who loves to dress up in clothing like their ancestors, Jessie just so happens to run into a group of them while playing in the park with her family one summer afternoon. Luckly the gang she met are good and begins to hang out with them.
Middle School:
Because of her hanging out with the greasers' descendants, she begins to dress up like them too and had certain rules of the greasers that was appropriate for her and her friends to follow as they grew together as they watched wrestling and like doing sports, even joining some sports clubs, one of them is a wrestling club which Jessie joined. When she was attending middle school, they attend to the class field trip to a lab that is own by a team of scientists called the Guys in White. Jessie wasn't very excited about it, knowing it'll bored her out of her mind, but little did she know, it was about to change her life forever.
During the tour, Jessie decided to go to the restroom during lunch, but end up getting lost when she was done, she stumbles upon one of the portals and being born with autism, she got curious and decided to step a little closer to the ghost portal. Unfortunately, one of the employees didn't know she was there when they active the portal to test it. It caught Jessie by surprise and before she even had a chance to get away from the portal, the portal testing failed as an exposed circuitry gave her a strong electric shock. She screamed in pain as she flew back away from the portal, the only thing she heard was her friends calling her name as she heard footsteps running towards her before she went unconscious.
She woke up in the hospital a day later and after her awakening, her parents and the school sue the GiW for being careless about a middle schooler getting injured and won the case, causing the GiW to pack up and leave Tulsa. After being clear to leave the hospital a few days later, Jessie discovered that she felt more energetic and as time went on, she discovered she began to have strange powers. They were limited at first which is why Jessie never put much thought into it, such as floating for a short time or making her limbs disappear.
But as she grew older, these powers began to get more prominent, and it was harder for her to keep them under control. Because of this, Jessie had to leave the wrestling club in fear she'll accidentally hurt someone and made up a half lie about wanting to focus more on her classes. Her family and friends noticed something was wrong with her, and Jessie finally admits the reason why. One of her best friends, Tatiana, did some research and found out Jessie had gotten ghost powers from the accident. She, Jessie's family and their gang all promised to Jessie that they wouldn’t tell anyone. With their help, Jessie decided to learn to control her powers, so she wouldn't be found out about them.
However, tragedy stuck in her life when her father became ill with stage 4 kidney cancer, he tried his best to fight back the cancer, but he ended up passing away peacefully in his sleep. It devastated Jessie and her family. What's worse, her mother announced they were moving to a different state due to her losing her job after the building she was working at was caught on fire and destroyed. Jessie didn't want to move away from the life she loves, especially because she doesn't want to leave her friends and all her animals will be sold.
Luckly, one of her aunts and uncles manages to get her mother a new job from the state they were moving to, and since they live in the outskirts of the town she's moving to, all the animals will be sent to live with them. Jessie told her gang about the news and while they are sad about her leaving, they all decided to hang out together and throw a party to spend time together one last time. The next day, Jessie says goodbye to her friends after they gave each other their phone numbers, and she left with her mother and sisters to their new home.
High School:
Jessie and her family soon arrived in a town called Amity Park, and Jessie was homesick, missing her best friends. Jessie spent the first few nights sulking in her new room, unable to get used to the urban atmosphere of her new home. By the time she starts attending high school, Casper High, she immediately caught everyone's attention due to how she was dressed and for her natural beauty. All the boys were smitten by her looks while all the girls were jealous of her, making Jessie feel very uncomfortable since she wasn't used to getting all the attention to herself.
Because of this, she was constantly picked on by the popular girls who were jealous of her for getting the attention and wanting her to feel insecure. Jessie, of course, taught by her old friends about some rules of the greasers with their own rules of their gang, decided to fight back until Sam Manson stood up for her. Jessie was extremely grateful for this, and was later introduced to Sam’s 2 best friends, Danny and Tucker. She was welcomed and fit right into the group with ease, and she was happy she finally made some friends. However, she soon found out that Danny’s parents were ghost hunters, she tried to avoid and stay away from his parents as far away as possible in fear they'll do something to her if they found out her secret.
At some point, Jessie was 100% comfortable around her three friends, although, she never told them her secret. It wasn't until Danny had a lab accident with his parents' ghost portal and gain his own ghost powers. Not too long after the accident, Jessie finally told her friends about her powers. Of course, they were shocked, but they all promise to it a secret and Danny and Jessie worked together to fight the baddies who came out of the now active Fenton Portal as Danny Phantom and Jessie Shadow, although she did manage to befriend some ghosts just for being herself. As time went on, Jessie began to realize that she has a crush on Danny, and it grew stronger as she spends more time with him, she wants to tell him how she feels, but was scared that she might ruin their friendship, so she never said anything. But she does show signs of jealousy when another girl flirts with him, but she tries her best to hide it.
Jessie then noticed Sam begins to have a crush on him too, she didn't want to fight with Sam and lose her friend over a boy, so they both agreed that they would let Danny decide. When Danny gave up his powers, Jessie was disappointed but supported his decision regardless. She caught Sam later rant at Danny about giving up his powers, Jessie hates the way Sam yelled at Danny and feel offended that Sam acts like Danny is the only half ghost that existed besides Vlad. So, when Sam came back inside, Jessie begins to yell at her for what she said to Danny and told her that she still has her ghost powers and was offending at what Sam said earlier, before leaves to go outside to comfort Danny.
In the South Pole, Jessie finds Sam alone with Danny and was surprised to see that Danny walked away from Sam and heading towards her. In the end, Danny fell for Jessie's kind and caring nature and how she was always there for him thick and thin, he didn't care that she has a level 8 autism or that she likes to dress up as a female greaser from the 1950's. He proved it to her by kissing her that day. Sam was a bit upset that Danny didn’t choose her yet felt happy for both of them.
After Danny and Jessie saved the Earth from the Disasteriod, everything became a paradise for her, she was surprised that Danny started to dress up like a male greaser since Jessie was starting to rub off on him, but she didn't mind. However, in her sophomore year, Jessie learned from a frustrated Sam who snapped at her of how jealous she was over her relationship with Danny after Sam got tired of hearing all the dates, she went on with Danny and how sweet he is with the gifts he got for her. Jessie became annoyed at this and questions Sam if she really does love Danny for who he is just like she does, or if she only loves him because of his powers, just like Paulina and the rest of the girls in town and school does.
This triggers Sam into fighting her, which was hauled by one of the teachers and led Sam being suspended since Jessie was avoiding her attacks thanks to her ghost powers. When Tucker saw this and told Danny what happened, he tells Sam that even though he doesn't appreciate her fighting Jessie over his relationship with her, Sam will always have a special place in his heart, and the two girls remain friends, as well as Sam finally moving on from her crush on Danny.
Collage Life:
Jessie and Danny continued to fight ghosts while spending time together on dates, although this became hard for them to go out in public due to their popularity. When they got to senior year, Jessie doesn't know what career she wants when she goes to college, so when she told Danny, Sam and Tucker about this, Danny suggested she should get a career as a singer since she loves to sing.
Jessie was a little hesitant at first but then remembers that she overcame her stage fright after the incident with Ember Mclain and knew she can't become a wrestler since she's not as interested in wrestling anymore as she used to, and fearing she'll accidentally hurt someone if her powers somehow lose control, she thinks that a singing career might be a better choice instead.
Especially seeing how Amity Park doesn't have many ghost attacks as of late and seeing her boyfriend and her friends being supportive, she agrees with the idea. So, after graduation, she told her family about what career she actually wants, they accepted her decision. She and her friends and boyfriend all went to the same college together and she chose classes that involves music, singing and dancing.
It was hard for her to hang out with her boyfriend and her friends, but she still manages to make some time to see them while focusing on her studies. To practice more on her singing, she decided to create a music channel and recorded covers of her favorite songs and posted them online and soon gained internet fame. By her second year, she did less covers and began writing and performing her own songs with the help of her friends and boyfriend.
She soon gains the attention of producers of different music companies, she became nervous as she didn't know what do to, but Danny encouraged her to choose the best one to help her, and so she did and was very excited although wanted to keep her schooling in check and worked on and off with the record company until the following summer, when she released her first single. Her popularity grew even more, her name becoming well known in the city. She held off performances until later in her fourth year. She worked on her first album through the year, finally releasing it and having a small tour during spring break.
Of course, she somehow still manages to make time to spend it with her family, her friends and of course, her boyfriend, Danny. She missed spending time with him as he missed her since she was busy with her singing career, and the ghost couple spend their days going on dates or just hanging out in their apartment, cuddling and watching movies or tv shows. There were even talks about them wanting to get married one day, and so, on the day of their college graduation, Danny proposes to her, to which she happily said yes.
Adult Life:
After college, Jessie returned to Amity Park with Danny, Sam and Tucker. Between songwriting and recording, the two planned out their wedding and got married a year later. Soon after, Jessie found out she was pregnant and brought their first-born son into the world, Danny Junior, or DJ for short. Juggling motherhood, fame, and integrating her spare time into the booming business of FentonWorks proved to be tough. She managed to keep her life in balance even if it were by mere threats at some moments. The battles eased up as Danny and his parents worked on ways to add extra security to the portal, even though it worked half the time.
Her fame grew more with time. She was cranking out a new album every year and went on tour during the summer months. Later, she gave birth to their second child, a daughter name Larissa. With managing two kids now, her singing career slowed down as she focused on being a full-time mom for a while. When the kids grew older and became more independent, she began to write and perform again, although not as much as before. With a lot of money stored in the bank at this point, Jessie managed to give herself and her family a comfortable life as she and Danny raised their two kids who both inherited their powers with love and support, but not spoiling them. They watched as their kids follow their footsteps of becoming heroes as DJ Phantom and Lari Shadow.
Appearance:
Jessie is a young Mexican American girl with fair skin, long brown hair and dark brown eyes. She has her hair tied up in a high ponytail with bangs. She also wears a natural smokey eyeshadow, black eyeliner, black mascara, and nude lipstick. She wears a white crop-top with a black leather jacket, a sterling silver decagem pendant long necklace, a timex women's easy reader black and silver leather strap wristwatch on her left wrist, light blue jean ripped pants with a black leather belt and a pair of brown leather cowboy boots embossed with red flames running up the sides and decorated with yellow shooting stars. When she becomes furious, her eyes sometimes flash solar orange even while in human form.
When she transforms into Jessie Shadow, her hair becomes platinum blonde and braided into a single messy braid, her eyes become glowing solar orange, her skin becomes tanned, and a faint white glow surrounds her whole body. In this form, her makeup changed, she doesn't have eyeshadow or eyeliner, but still wears black mascara and wears nude pink lipstick. She wears a black shirt and pants set that reveals her midriff with a grey collar, grey belt, and grey elbow high gloves, and grey boots that looks identical as the boots she wears in her human form, except they have no design on them. After "Memory Blank", she wears her logo, a swift gray "J" with an "S" next to it on her chest. Her voice becomes slightly but noticeably resonant as well.

Interesting Facts:
• Jessie got her nickname from her old gang when they decided to give her a nickname.
• It's rare for Jessie to let her hair down in both her human form and ghost form, mostly her human form. The only time she had her hair down was when she's at water parks or when she's wearing dresses, but other than that, she always has her hair up. She does finally let it down when she gets older though.
• Jessie's favorite colors are yellow, black and red. She likes pink, but it's not her favorite color.
• Her favorite flavors are bubblegum and blue raspberry.
• Jessie is considered to be the most popular girl in school for her beauty, and because of this, her beauty rivals Paulina's, making Paulina the second most popular. But Jessie still decides to hang out with Danny, Sam and Tucker instead of the popular kids.
○ Because of her natural beauty, all the boys in school flirted with her, and Jessie didn't like it and makes her uncomfortable, knowing they only liked her for her looks. The boy who flirts with her the most is Dash Baxter, and she hates him because he bullies everyone in school, including Danny and Tucker.
• Jessie love singing and dancing since she was a child. It also provides something she can do for fun or when she's bored. She never told anyone about her love for singing and dancing, so she kept them a secret until the events of "Fanning the Flame".
• Jessie grew up watching wrestling as long as she can remember with her father and because of this, she joined the wrestling club in middle school and became an athlete, her first career choice was to become a wrestler, but after she got her ghost powers, she decided to not be a wrestler anymore and changed her career choice to a singer, but she does appear in WWE as a guest.
○ However, she does use a little bit of her wrestling moves she learned from her old wrestling club in middle school during her ghost battles. Even some wrestling moves from some WWE wrestlers she watched growing up. Her favorite WWE wrestlers are Dean Ambrose, AJ Lee, Kaitlyn, Seth Rollins, and Daniel Bryan.
• Even though she has a ranch girl lifestyle, Jessie continues to live a greaser girl lifestyle because it's a way to keep her old gang in her heart, despite being miles apart from them.
• Her favorite types of music are classic, rock, pop, hip hop and of course, Mexican.
• Jessie absolutely loves horses due to growing up on a ranch her whole life. While growing up, she learns how to ride horses, with and without a saddle and reins. So even though her mother works at a music store in Amity Park, she and her sisters would visit and help out their uncle and aunt in their ranch outside of Amity Park and when she's done, she can ride horses again like she used to.
• Jessie likes to cook due to her mother teaching her.
• Jessie has a ghost Kiger Mustang and American Paint mix horse named Miracle, whom she managed to calm down, become friends with, and later on becomes her master.
• Jessie loves plants due to her mother keeping a few plants in their home. She also likes nature walks in the parks or outside of Amity Park, especially when she needs some time alone.
• Jessie is both a meat eater and a vegetarian.
• Jessie can speak Spanish, she used to speak Spanish a lot from a young age, but starting to speak more English as she grows up. She can still speak Spanish sometimes, just not as much as she used to when she was young. She can also mash up Spanglish.
• Jessie is born with Autism. The level of her disability is 8, which allows her to read and write just fine, but due to her inability to speak to people by herself, she still requires special help and education from the schools she attends, including Casper High. The only ones who knew about her disability are her family and her old gang. Danny, Sam and Tucker learn about her disability later on after befriending her and before Danny got his powers, so they speak up and talk for her when they see she was having a hard time talking to people by herself from time to time.

Two women...one who has been kicked out her house for settlers and the other who dreads it happening to her. Every day she lives in fear. Just as the

No Palestinians have ever been allowed back into their homes in Israel. Stop the evacuation of the Salach family]
The story of the State of Israel in one picture. Police violence is growing. They know they are immune from Israeli "Law"
-
This is the way the soldier treats his enemies...the Palestinian is on the ground and the Israeli Activist is being held
These are barefaced settlers who attacked a village....not one of them has been arrested....look at their body language. Yet  10s of activists have been.
No you are not reading about Germany when you read the excerpt below.  This is  from a different attack.
According to his indictment, filed at the Jerusalem District Court, Siani was one of a gang of masked rioters who attacked the village three weeks ago. He threw stones at Palestinian residents and caused damage to property, prosecutors said. Then, along with other rioters, he allegedly threw stones at a home. A Palestinian woman and her four children were inside at the time.
The rioters smashed open the door to the home with an ax and metal clubs and broke in, the indictment said. The mother hid her children in a cupboard and the bathroom, then hid herself in a side room. After the rioters left, Siani set fire to an upholstered chair that was outside the building and then moved it to the doorway, blocking the exit for those inside. As a result, two of the children suffered respiratory difficulties due to smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for treatment and released on the same day, prosecutors said.
You can see if  you open the link how the settlers attacked a village
And this is the song the settlers sing
Who is going up in flames now? – Hawara! Houses and cars! – Hawara! They are evacuating old ladies, women and young girls, it is burning all night! – Hawara! Burn their trucks! – Hawara! Burn the roads and cars! – Hawara!
I suggest you send this on to your friends overseas
And this little thing was showing us how you should dress for a demonstration
So this is what I do ...I was not leading but in the middle. I try to find areas where I feel safe as people don't always look where they are going and once or twice I nearly got knocked over......not on purpose
The right is threatening to try to stop us on Tuesday. If they do, I don't want to think what can happen.
Sarah Netanyahu once said that as far as she was concerned, the state could burn  so now this seems very apt. The unroyal couple standing together and Netanyahu says to Sarah ...."Come Sarah, it is burning"

hi everyone, it’s meha ( andrew sterling aka noah centineo & chandler heine aka richard madden) again, back with a third character. Ms. Sienna Rose Rothschild Daniels is a lil bougie and a lil judgy, full of heart and love for her family and friends, though! She works as a journalist and photographer at the Frostford Herald, is 33 years old, and grew up in Frostford. She left town when she was 18 to go to NYU and came back a few months ago. Below the cut I’m putting some facts about her for easy reference! (please see default sienna face in gif)
Tumblr media
ABOUT:
Sienna is the middle child, a girl sandwiched between her brothers. Ryder (older, married to Rosalie) and Jack (younger, got a girl pregnant recently) are incredibly important to her, even if all three of them are fuckin’ disasters!!
Huge family— on her Daniels side (her dad), she’s related to Tanner, Thomas (RIP), Carter, Lizzie, and Lexa Cartwright and Katrina McDonald. She loves those fools and any time the eight surviving cousins (RIP Thomas) get together, it’s a fun time. Also chaos.
Her Rothschild side comes with lots of money and a trust fund for her and each of her siblings— a far cry from her baby cousin Kat who has grown up an orphan on a farm.
Sienna literally hates her Rothschild grandparents! Hates them!!!!!!
But she loves $$$$$ so she puts up with them and has her whole life
Sienna has been proposed to twice in her life and has literally PEACED OUT both times. The first happened at age 18 when her boyfriend/best friend/love of her life Austin Lockhart proposed to her right after they graduated high school because he was going into the military. She moved to NYC at the beginning of that summer instead of waiting until August when NYU’s fall semester began.
She double majored in journalism and environmental science in undergrad, per Carter Institute requirements, and became a producer with the travel channel for a travel show after college (she worked her way up the ladder)
In New York, her friend/best friend’s younger sister Juniper Kennedy set her up with June’s husband’s brother. Sienna and said brother hit it off and started dating!!
A year later he also proposed to her at a dinner full of all of their friends, to which she said, “oh, wow, babe,” and covered her hands with her mouth and pretended to cry and get overwhelmed and said they should talk about it later, only later never actually came because the next day she packed all her stuff and caught a flight to Mobile, Alabama.
This girl snatches her hand away anytime a man tries to put a diamond on the ring finger of her left hand.
She just has commitment issues, and [lily james voice] “i wanna make some memories.”
Some of these memories have included Sadie Lockhart (remember love of her life Austin? His crazy little sister) spreading rumors about her around town, including one that Sienna wanted to kill her own grandparents. Sadie probably doesn’t even regret it.
STILL, there are good memories, like getting to live in Chicago and Philly and Nashville, San Francisco and Seattle, tour Thailand and mainland China and experience the best of Singapore all on the Travel Channel’s dime.
She’s been back in Frostford for about six months now and is renting out this cute 2b/2b house that’s starting to grow on her & she’s got a job at the Herald to keep her busy while she continues to work remotely for the Travel Channel. Every so often she’ll go to Atlanta for a day or two to check in at the office there.
If you are still reading— why?

Descendants OC Compilation Part 1
Yes, another post to outline my Descendants, but now with all faceclaims and titles - this is mostly for my own reference but of course feel free to enjoy!  Also this will hopefully help me keep track of which OCs to make proper introductions for so feel free to tell me your favourites!
Tumblr media
Avalon Le Fay in King And Lionheart (fc. Emma Dumont): Daughter of Merlin and Morgana Le Fay (mixing disney with bbc’s merlin)
Nimue, daughter of Arthur and Gwen, and Avalon Le Fay, daughter or Merlin and Morgana, had always been thick as thieves, and had always been ready to declare war on Auradon.  Ever since the formation of the Isle, King Adam and the Fairy Godmother had been insisting that Morgana was still a villain, and therefore belonged on the Isle, and once Avalon was born, she agreed–so long as her daughter could stay in Camelot.  When Arthur was killed barely a year later, Merlin and Gwen partnered up to raise their daughters and run a kingdom, until the girls would be old enough to do so themselves.  Of course Auradon never trusted the one kingdom that refused to unite, and insisted that the girls be sent to Auradon prep, and so they went–reluctant as could be. Everything was fine, mostly–the other princesses looked down on Nimue’s love of swordfighting, and Avalon was never seen as anything but a villain kid, but they still had each other.  They could tolerate it all, biding their time. But at sixteen years of age, everything they’d ever planned gets thrown for a loop when it’s declared that four children from the Isle would be moving to Auradon. crossover with @seaweedhufflepuffocs
Tumblr media
Maria Frollo in Long Live The Queen (fc. Hazelle/Bellamie): Daughter of Claude Frollo
Maria Frollo hated her father.  It wasn’t an uncommon sentiment on the Isle, but it was still true.  She hated him.  More than she’d ever hated anyone.  Lucky for her, she met Queenie and Helena in the marketplace one day and found herself being taken under their wings.  She knows that she isn’t tough, not like they are, but if there’s one thing she learned from her father, it was how to rain hellfire down on her enemies
Tumblr media
Queenie in Long Live The Queen (fc. Darya Lebedeva): Daughter of the Queen Of Hearts
First there was Mal, then there was Uma.  Mal defected, turned good; Uma had a martyr complex without the brains to do, well, anything.  Now they’re gone, and there’s a new queen in town.  Queenie, along with her right hand man Helena, and their loyal supporter Maria, is running the show now.  And if anyone crosses her, she knows what to do; off with their heads
Tumblr media
Helena in Long Live The Queen (fc. Kimmy Schram): Daughter of Hades
Living on the Isle wasn’t easy, but there was something particularly difficult about it for a goddess.  Her dad couldn’t be kept on the Isle–they’d tried, no one died anymore, he was allowed to return to the Underworld.  But when Helena was born, she was cast away to join the rest of the Villains and their children, forced to fend for herself.  Being a goddess had its advantages too, she was able to survive and rise up with no problem.  Soon she was the right hand to the newest queen, and hell would freeze before she let anyone take that away from them.
Tumblr media
Elise Charming in Enchanted (fc. Lili Reinhart): Daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming
Elise is Chad’s twin sister and polar opposite (well other than being preppy and a cheerleader).  She truly believes in second chances and is super excited for the VKs to come to Auradon?  And definitely falls in love with Evie but thinks that Evie is straight
Tumblr media
Finley Rider in Stolen Heart (Fc. Virginia Gardner): Daughter of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Her name is Princess Finley Ryder - Corona is officially part of Auradon but they still have their own royal line.  When she was ten she was at some fancy gala party at the museum and got really bored, and got caught stealing Jafar’s staff (no one noticed that she also got both lamps) and she gets sent to the Isle on one of the shipping barges, and the first person she meets is Jay.  Once they’re a bit closer and she’s been officially accepted into the VK circle, she tells him that she still has both of the lamps, Jay makes her promise not to tell anyone else and they’ll keep them as a last resort bargaining stool.  And then they get summoned to auradon (she’s not supposed to go but Jay convinces Jafar who convinces Maleficent who “convinces” the driver) and she has to face the people who exiled her
Tumblr media
Princess Isabelle in Tale As Old As Time (fc. Danielle Campbell): Daughter of Belle and Adam
Ben’s twin sister, who is actually the firstborn.  She believes that she should be the queen (and so does Belle) but her father insists on Ben because Isabelle is significantly harder to control.  Her endgame love interest was going to be Mal but now I’m torn between Mal and Audrey for her.
Tumblr media
Violet Kingsleigh in Up The Rabbit Hole (fc. Meg Donnelly): Daughter of Alice and the Hatter
Violet Kingston loved growing up in Wonderland, she really did.  She loved spending mornings in her aunt’s - the queen’s - gardens; she loved fighting lessons with her parents and reading with Absolem; she loved playing with the Tweedles and hide and seek with Chess; and, of course, she adored her dad’s infamous tea parties.  Yes, Violet loved everything about Wonderland.  Especially that it wasn’t in Auradon.  It was perfect.  And then the queen is cursed, and all of Wonderland knows that Auradon is to blame.  But they can’t declare war without proof, so suddenly their young princess is being sent to Auradon prep to investigate.  Violet knows her mission.  Violet is absolutely and entirely focused.  Violet is most definitely not prepared for the boy-king to have invited a group of teenagers from the Isle Of The Lost to start school on the same day as her.
Tumblr media
Harley Hook in Lost Girl (fc. India Eisley): Daughter of Captain Hook
Harley Hook was a pirate, through and through.  Always at her brother’s side, always with Uma and the crew, always near her beloved Gil, Harley Hook was a pirate.  And as a pirate, she absolutely hated Mal’s gang.  They thought that they were so much better than anyone, just because of Mal’s mom - big whoop, it’s not like Maleficent could even use magic on the Isle.  So yeah, Harley hated the VKs, her loyalty was to the crew, and she was never seen away from Harry or Gil.  And then the princeling decides to bring children of some of the worst villains to Auradon: Mal, Evie, Jay, Carlos.  And Harley.  Harley couldn’t be more furious at being taken away from her crew, or at being sent to Auradon, or at being forced to work with the VKs to get Fairy Godmother’s wand.  But she knows that if she wants to get back to the Isle, back to her family, she needs that barrier down as much as they do.  She’s just not sure that they can cooperate long enough for that.
Tumblr media
Francie Facilier in Shadow Tales (fc. tentatively Amandla Stenberg): Daughter of Doctor Facilier
Why is it that people on the Isle only ever talk about Celia Facilier?  Well according to her, it’s because she’s the superior sister; according to Francie Facillier, it’s because she choses to fade into the shadows from which she came.  Francie knows everything about everyone, knows every corner of the Isle, even knows how to get off of it.  But even though she’s supposed to be evil, she’s not quite evil enough to force anyone else to listen to the villains lament on their glory days, on when they were the most feared in all the land.  Whatever, big deal, who cares?  Maybe the Beast-King should have left them all dead.  But he didn’t, no way of changing it now, so maybe it’s time for Francie to put all of her knowledge to work and crown herself Queen of the Isle.
Tumblr media
Lani in One Foot In The Sea (And One On The Shore) (fc. Madelaine Petsch): Daughter of Melody
Melody’s daughter, the first second generation child to be born, and to go to Auradon Prep.  She’s half part of Auradon (because of Eric’s kingdom) but also Atlantian which is still separated, and she’s trying to unite the two but is being torn apart by it
Tumblr media
Trina Tremaine in I’m Still Here (fc. Lana Condor):  Daughter of Lady Tremaine
a daughter of Lady Tremaine, much younger than the other two, only a couple of years older than Dizzy.  She and Dizzy are extremely close but are separated when she’s brought to Auradon.  Probably also treated badly by Lady Tremaine, ends up becoming quite close with Cinderella during that first family day where everything went wrong.
Tumblr media
Rosabelle in The Rose Has Her Thorns (fc. Zoey Deutch): Daughter of Gaston
A daughter of Gaston, Gil’s little sister, Ben decides that he can’t bring other VKs and not the child of his parents own villain, so Rosabelle gets brought to Auradon.  I don’t know much but I’ve decided that she becomes quite close with Belle (I think that she would have been majorly mistreated by Gaston and Belle can tell as soon as they meet) and Adam really hates that.  Her hair is naturally blonde (like Gil’s) but she dyes it on the Isle.
Tumblr media
Titania aka Tia in Two Roads Diverged (fc. Emily Rudd): Daughter of Fairy Godmother
in a slight AU where the Beast is honestly really dark, FG has twin daughters and he forces her to send one to the Isle (I’m not sure if it’s specifically because they’d be magic or if there’s a one child rule because he doesn’t want anyone being able to overthrow him) but FG hides her away somewhere instead?  Or she does go to the Isle but then escapes in D3 when the VKs and Pirates leave after visiting Hades.  I have very little plot beyond that but in D3 when Jane and co find the statue of FG, Jane thinks of getting the wand, but when she goes in she sees this girl taking it (and not being stopped by the shield because she has the same blood) and discovers that she has a twin, and then they overthrow the beast or something - introduces herself to everybody as Tia because of the power of real names
Tumblr media
Noelle in Only Love, Only Hate (fc. Kiernan Shipka): Daughter of Elsa
Absolutely hates Auradon because they tried to send Elsa to the Isle, but is forced to attend Auradon Prep for political reasons and she and Ben fall in love, kind of a Romeo & Juliet vibe - title comes from the Romeo And Juliet quote “my only love sprung from my only hate”
Tumblr media
Myra Frollo in Hellfire (fc. Elle Fanning): daughter of Claude Frollo and Cinderella (nonconsensual).
Because of the Beast’s hatred of magic and the time period of both Hunchback and BATB, Frollo is not sent to the Isle (the Beast claims that he’s a hero for his valiant effort to protect the city from witchcraft). Frollo assaults Cinderella, and Myra is the result. Beast grants Frollo custody but she occasionally gets to spend time with her mom. She’s very close with both Cinderella and Chad, but not Prince Charming. Chad knows that her father is abusive and it’s a big part of why he is so opposed to VKs coming to Auradon - if Frollo isn’t considered bad enough for the Isle then how horrible must those villains and their kids be
Tumblr media
Lyssa in One Last Hope (fc. Vanessa Morgan): Daughter of Meg and Hercules
daughter of Hercules who the fates predicted would be evil and is therefore sent to the isle as an infant and is raised by Hades but then Ben includes her in the group being brought to Auradon
Tumblr media
Charity in A Twist In Truth (fc. Sabrina Carpenter): daughter of Belle and Prince Charming
Doesn’t know that Adam isn’t her father until a curse is placed on his bloodline and she realizes that she’s unaffected
Tumblr media
Faith in The Hands Of Fate (fc. Paris Berelc): daughter of the Fates (their scissors are seen in the Villain Room of the museum) who was raised on the Isle
Tumblr media
Blair in A Change Of Fate (fc. Adelaide Kane): Merida’s adopted daughter
Looked down on by the rest of Auradon because she doesn’t have the proper bloodline)
Tumblr media
Cheryl in Daughter Of The Devil (fc. Margaret Qualley): daughter of Chernabog
Tumblr media
Gloria in Mother Knows Best (fc. Camila Mendes): Daughter of Mother Gothel
Tumblr media
Hannah in Wish I Were Here (fc. Kat McNamara): Daughter of Hans
Hannah never knew who her mom was, and knows that her dad has no magical abilities whatsoever, but when she steps foot into Auradon she discovers that she can do magic and finds herself on a quest to learn the truth about her past
Tumblr media
Sonya White in Ties That Bind (fc. Grace Phipps): Daughter of Snow White (in the same series as NAME and Name)
Sonya and Snow both consider Evie family and Sonya is determined to do whatever she can to help Evie - including getting the wand
Tumblr media
Anissa Radcliffe in Ties That Bind (fc. Maia Mitchell): A daughter of Anita and Roger Radliffe, from the same series as Sonya and Layla
Tumblr media
Layla in Ties That Bind (fc. Naomi Scott): A daughter of Aladdin and Jasmine, from the same series as Sonya and Anissa
Tumblr media
Casseopia in Where I’m Meant To Be (fc. Mackenzie Foy): Daughter of Meg and Hercules
Raised on Olympus by Hera and Zeus, their demand after Hercules turned down godhood, and recently sent to Auradon Prep
Tumblr media
Isadora Darling in Second Star To The Left  (fc. Olivia Holt): Daughter of Jane Darling
After Adam became king of Auradon, he had Fairy Godmother put up a barrier around Neverland, just like the one around the Isle, but no one knows where it is - somehow, Isadora finds it and makes it to the other side.
Maisie in Who Is The Monster (And Who Is The Man) (fc. tbd - open to suggestions): (full name Margaret), daughter of Esmeralda and Phoebus.
Because of his hatred of magic and the time period of both Hunchback and BATB, the Beast sends Esmeralda to the Isle (a few years after the villains, when she’s three months pregnant). She names her daughter Margaret because it was the name that Phoebus wanted. When Ben finds out that she’s on the Isle, he thinks it’s absolute bullshit and immediate includes Maisie in the kids to be brought to Auradon
Hayden in Dying Is An Art (fc. tbd, open to suggestions with purple, green, or blue hair): Daughter of Maleficent and Hades, raised by Hades

                                        [Chaptered Fiction]
The Whirlwind by summers-maclay-lehane (ofstormsandwolves) (G, Multi, Rupert Giles/Joyce Summers, Faith Lehane/Buffy Summers)
Summary: When Buffy and her friends decide to go see a new band at the Bronze, nothing turns out quite like they thought.
perfect by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (T, F/M, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar)
Summary: “I’m not—good—at gentle.”
saw her in the streetlight, making all the world bright by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (T, Gen, Jenny Calendar/Rupert Giles, Rupert Giles & Buffy Summers)
Summary: Sounded like a good beginning, he thought. Ethan kept fucking texting him from different numbers no matter how many of them Ripper blocked, and the only person who had made him feel something that wasn’t a strong desire to go on a bender was some random girl who liked his music enough to want to listen to it.
What Ripper Wants by witchway (M, M/M, Angel/Xander, Rupert Giles/Xander Harris)
Summary: We tend to forget - Rupert "Ripper" Giles is also a magician. One who doesn't...……..always...……..follow the rules.
Carpe Verpa by GylzGirl (E, F/M, Rupert Giles/Buffy Summers)
Original author note: Timeline late season 6 or later. Very Probably AU. Giles moved back to Sunnydale and got his old place back. I can't lose the library and the apartment. It messes up my whole world.
To Have and to Hold by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (T, Multi, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar, Faith Lehane/Buffy Summers)
Summary: They’d agreed, beforehand, to walk down the aisle together. Thankfully, he had enough presence of mind to extend his arm to her, and when she tucked her small, elegant hand into the crook of his elbow, it felt right.
Lingering by JackalopingIntoTheVoid (T, F/M, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar)
Summary: Jenny was feeling less charitable than she perhaps would be otherwise, since it turned out this crappy apartment that hadn’t been renovated since the 1970′s had a very good reason for being so. It was in fact haunted by a violent, screaming poltergeist. Needless to say, Jenny hadn’t been getting much sleep.
In Search of Mischief by Cyberwulf (E, F/M, Rupert Giles/Buffy Summers)
Summary: Ethan kidnaps Giles. What does he want this time?
Slings and Arrows by TheGoodTwin (ProtoNeoRomantic) (T, F/M, Rupert Giles/Buffy Summers, Daniel "Oz" Osbourne/Willow Rosenberg, Cordelia Chase/Xander Harris, Hank Summers/Joyce Summers)
Summary: Buffy is back in the land of the living... but it doesn't look quite like the world she left behind. For starters, she has apparently had a baby. With Giles. Which is something you'd think she might remember. And yet, there is another baby living in her house, with her parents, who are back together, and whom they insist is Buffy's. Xander is in love with Cordelia, who is in a coma, and also, aparently, not the enemy anymore. Willow is living on her own as a highschool student by day who runs her own, hightech Evilfighting HQ by night. And Angel? He's gone. Forever. Like everything else in her life that once made sense. All of which makes it seem pretty rediculous that she is *still* just a Jr. in Highschool.
days in goodness spent by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (T, F/M, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar)
Summary: This feeling—whatever Giles is feeling—this is bone-deep. He’s never felt it before. He’s been in love before, he’s admired someone before, he’s respected someone before, but this feels like all of those three things held together by something else he can’t quite name. He searches, desperately, for the words that will tell Jenny this, but nothing that has been written can describe the way it feels to be held by her right now.
Valentine Buzz by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (G, Multi, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar, Faith Lehane/Buffy Summers)
Summary: “See her, Jenny? Learn from Willow’s example. That is how you behave properly and maturely on Valentine’s Day.” “You and your holiday obsessions,” said Jenny, leaning in to kiss Rupert.
faith, hope, and pancakes by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (G, F/M, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar)
Summary: The girl grinned, grabbing Faith’s hand like they’d been best friends forever. “You,” she said, “must be Faith. I’m Jenny.”
cookie dough and boy talk (a remix) by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (G, Gen, Rupert Giles & Buffy Summers)
Summary: “Seriously, Dawn, I said stay—” “It’s not safe to stay alone in a car at night!” Dawn objected. “And Mom would be super pissed if she knew you’d just let me—” “Hi, sorry,” said Ripper loudly. “What the fuck?” “Ripper!” said Buffy. “Don’t swear in front of my baby sister!”
extracurricular activities by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (G, F/M, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar)
Summary: In which Giles makes some unexpected compromises to his once-rigid worldview, Jenny is probably a lot more smitten than Giles realizes, and the Scoobies provide what they seem to think is helpful commentary.
on the mending of hearts by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (T, F/M, Rupert Giles/Anya Jenkins)
Summary: Giles took his time getting ready, hoping that he’d arrive late enough to miss the vows. He spent a good half hour compiling a convincing list of excuses—so sorry I’m late, traffic was terrible. My apologies, I misplaced my glasses. I hope you’ll forgive me, but I’m madly in love with the bride, and the thought of watching her marry someone else makes me feel vaguely sick. (Giles decides to attend Anya's wedding. This at first seems like a mistake, but ends up not being one at all.)
Unholy Savior by the_huffster (M, F/M, Rupert Giles/Buffy Summers)
Summary: Seven months after YellowBrickRoad, the Scoobies are down the road to recovering from the events on the trail. But when things start to get weird for even the Hellmouth, Giles finds himself in the middle of a strange prophecy.
participation medals of the heart. by sevensevan (T, F/M, Jenny Calendar/Rupert Giles)
Summary: In which Willow's spell in the beginning of season six goes horribly wrong, and instead of Buffy, Jenny Calendar wakes up in her grave, with no memory of her life, her past, or even her name. My fic for Jenny Calendar Day.
Monitors by rippergiles (T, F/M, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar)
Summary: Giles and Ms. Calendar on their best behavior.
uncharted by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (T, F/M, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar)
Summary: There's no prophecy dream to out Jenny to the group—it's her that tells the Scoobies the truth. But that doesn't stop her from taking on a whole lot of guilt anyway.
Featuring all the hallmarks of Jenny Calendar: bad decisions, late-night research, pushing people away, and a flagrant disregard for personal safety. (Plus a deep and abiding love for a gentle librarian, obviously.)
blindsided by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (G, F/M, Rupert Giles/Anya Jenkins)
Summary: “I think you chose those frames to make yourself look austere and professorial. I like you better with them off.” (Early S4. Anya shows up looking for Xander, and finds Giles instead.)
Conversations by Garnigal (G, Gen, Faith Lehane, Rupert Giles, Chapters: 3/3)
Summary: Three Conversations
Imperfections by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (T, Multi, Jenny Calendar/Rupert Giles, Faith Lehane/Buffy Summers, Chapters: 71/71)
Summary: “Cool,” said Faith. “So you’re a witch?” “Technopagan is the term,” said Ms. Calendar, and shared a smile with Giles, as though they were sharing some kind of joke that Faith wasn’t in on. Judging by the looks on the other faces in the room, though, no one else was either, so that made Faith feel a little better. “I’m mostly good at practical magic.” “Love that movie,” Faith quipped. Ms. Calendar gave her a newly appreciative look.
an open mic enthusiast by The_Eclectic_Bookworm (G, F/M, Rupert Giles/Jenny Calendar)

“Some moment when the moon was blood / then surely I was born;” —g.k. chesterton
Name: Popa Chatelet
Title(s): Queen of Iphis, officially Queen Popa IV
Age: 15
FC or Features: Larsen Thompson + golden canines (upper and lower only) cut to little fangs and embellished with esoteric symbols of blessing and strength, cut by Thalestris herself when Popa was still a small child. They’ll be pulled and replaced with silver and rubies soon. Piercings all along both of her ears. Thatched hair (like the McQueen image in her section of our board) is typical for her. Deceptively dainty in overall appearance.
-
Likes: jewels and shiny ornaments (a lot of gold but that will soon change- ), neatness, her privacy, silence, reading, talking tactics with Caiaphas, archery (though she excels more at swordplay, she likes archery best), her golden bow (taken from an enemy general who died in the Arena), tormenting Violaine-Iris, milk baths, meditation, gold-leaf sweets
Dislikes: disorder and chaos, small children, birds, rodentia of any sort, bugs, heat, any authority other than her own, “Chaos Queen” Violaine-Iris, illness (in her as well as- if not especially- in others), surprises, parties and drinking, her freckles
Goals: To maintain her current situation as Queen and defend Iphis from the great threat of being overrun by beast-men. As well, to some way take her secret of infection to the grave with her.
Fears: Being caught in a situation that she has no control over. Somehow being dethroned (and/or losing any influence) is a large concern of hers since it was almost too easy for her to end Alexon who was King until he was Arena fodder. In the end, she fears not having the power to protect herself.
Rumours: Often, if not always, Violaine-Iris is called Popa’s conspirator in planning the death of their brother Alexon, and Popa is content to let people think so. There’s the werewolf blood-drinking- which is also true, but it was one occasion and not an on-going thing like some believe. The notion of blood-drinking- particularly werewolf blood- disgusts her and is considered by her one of the many, many grave sins Thalestris committed against her.
Scale of 1-10, how likely is your Chatelet to kill a family member: 12 10
- Typical -
Wardrobe: Mostly black and/or gold, with the occasional Arena Reds. The more demure dresser of all her siblings- it would be unusual to see her shoulders or back bare. Like most royal garments, hers are in-sewn with symbols of protection and blessings by Noble Seamstress who is well-versed in the Empyreal Texts. She does wear ornate armour while outside the Wall and light gladiatorial armour while fighting in the Arena but never within the palace (unseemly). She likes to wear lots of rings and the “claw” jewellry on the tips of her fingers as well as light jointed metal gloves set with precious stones, perfume necklaces, armlets and rows of earrings in each ear. She likes to hide her freckles beneath makeup to make herself look less like a child. No florals.
Places most likely to be found: her apartments, the Arena (mostly spectating but there is the rare gladiatrix performance), away- defending the Wall
People most likely to be with: Damali and/or Smeme when home, Lord Captain Caiaphas when on defense missions outside the bordering Wall
Strongest character trait: Controlling
Mannerisms: Popa likes to be precise and neat in any endeavour, very private (even more so lately), a bit finicky- bit of a micromanager (really things must be just-so, even others’ clothing or it will be promptly pointed-out and rectified), easy movements- very controlled. She smiles at strange times during conversations, is habitual eye-roller, and calculates thoroughly before ever opening her glistening-gold mouth. Otherwise, she’s prone to some immaturity which is understandable given her age- for example her need to pick on Violaine-Iris and engage in arguments with her four-year-old sister.
- Relationships -
I need to add onto all of these !
with Anxélica: Popa believes her mother was justified in sending Anxélica away- she’s a blight, as far as Popa is concerned. Her visits to the main palace since Thalestris’ death aggravate Popa.
with Violaine-Iris: Popa enjoys picking on Voilaine-Iris- in fact, it’s one of her favourite amusements outside of the Arena. “Ah, there’s the Widow Lady Chatelet!”, “Where’s your husband? Ah, forgive my poor memory- you turned him into a flatcake,” “We were out by your late husband’s resting place...”, etc.
with Sabela: Sabela is the sister Popa minds least because she gives Popa the least amount of trouble.
with Otrera: A loud, grubby creature that Popa likes to avoid and has been attempting to send away from the main palace for the past year.
Damali & Smeme - Popa’s gang of handmaidens. Her only confidantes since she was a very small child. They’re both trained soldiers who keep her company as well as protected when on missions outside the Wall.
-
- Bio -
Not nearly as delicate as she appears, Popa is perhaps the most blood-soaked of all her siblings. Popa was her mother’s youngest child for eleven years of her life, and it is well-known among the sisters that she was Thalestris’ favourite even following the birth of Otrera. Her brutality, even at such a young age, she comes by honestly- Vitalion used to call her “Little Thalestris”- and it’s said that the girl was fed the blood of a werewolf by her mother when she was still a small child with the only effect being heightened senses. But this is only speculation. While most might believe that Popa loved her mother, it was in fact the opposite, and the rumour goes that she was truly the one that ended Thalestris’ life and framed her brother Vitalion to save herself. Then, in order to become a Queen, she did away with Alexon by accusing him of, not only treason, but also being a werewolf himself. True or not, her ambition has been clear from the start, and these days, she looks after military affairs and has even been known to engage with the enemy on the field from time to time. Her spare time is taken up at the arena- mostly as a spectator but a couple of instances as a fighter. But young Popa might find herself in over her head with a new threat- a mighty lycanthrope Queen from the north who is not-so-secretly uniting a massive force of her kind to overrun Iphis once and for all.

Headcanons:
In a strange way, Thalestris coveted certain aspects of werewolves that she hoped she could gift to Popa without transforming or “damning” her completely. The werewolf blood she gave her as a child did provide her with some elevated hearing and sight, as well as some improved stamina and strength. Popa always denies any such thing occurred, but it’s fairly obvious when she partakes in the Arena, that she does possess some superhuman abilities.
Even if she dislikes you, Popa will adjust your out-of-place clothing out of compulsion. I suppose she would do it especially if she disliked you since she does prefer to humiliate subtly.
She enjoys showing off in the Arena for the people because she believes the displays give them confidence in her ability to protect them.
Popa has a bevvy of spies to play her eyes and ears around Violaine-Iris when she cannot be present in the palace. For now, she also has them watching Anxélica after a report that missing Arena werewolves were showing up at her private residence for so-called secret gatherings.

ENEMY TERRITORY (1987, d. Peter Manoogian)
Tumblr media
I don’t often like to bring up social or political issues on this site. For me, and I assume for many of you, these movies that I write about are a respite. When I want to escape the reality of what modern life in this country has become, then I want to watch something that looks and feels as far away from that reality as possible. And furthermore, I don’t want to shove my own social and political beliefs down anyone’s throat. I don’t know what you believe, and I don’t want to alienate a reader on a site that’s about exploitation cinema based on something that is outside of that sphere. Or even worse, you already agree with me, and I’m preaching to the converted, which is a complete waste of both my time and yours. Anyway, this is all a preamble to say that I find it impossible to talk about today’s movie, 1987’s Enemy Territory, without talking about social and political issues. Because, while this movie is undeniably entertaining, it’s also undeniably racist as hell.
These types of movies were all over the place in the 80s, the Assault on Precinct 13, Escape From New York type of urban jungle, ragtag group of heroes have to survive the night with a bunch of psychopathic baddies hunting them down. And yes, it is no secret that New York City in the 80s was a grimy, crime-ridden hellhole. So perhaps it is not that shocking that Enemy Territory does not present, shall we say, the most subtle or diverse view of black life in America. But this goes far beyond being a product of its time and environment: Enemy Territory represents a conservative white male’s nightmare vision of the black experience. Nearly every black character in this movie is either a gleeful villain or a morose victim. There are scenes in this movie where I couldn’t help but hear our internet troll President droning on about how crime-ridden and poverty-stricken and joyless he and his ilk think modern black life is in my head while it was playing. I’d like to think we’d have gotten better with understanding race relations in the 31 years since this movie was released, but all signs point to nope.
Enemy Territory opens with one of those urban blight montages, just scenes of infrastructure decay and abject poverty, while a Grandmaster Flash knockoff blares on the soundtrack. Everything is covered in graffiti. In fact, we see the title itself being spray painted on a wall, before it pops out onto the screen. Movie magic! We then meet our protagonist, Barry. Barry is an insurance salesman, and it seems that things aren’t going so well for him. He’s arguing with his ex-wife over the phone about money problems. Then he opens his desk drawer, and wouldn’t you know it, but there’s a giant bottle of Jack Daniels inside. Say it ain’t so, Barry! For some reason, Barry’s boss is like, ok Barry, you’re a total drunk fuckup, but I like you, so go get a signature from this old lady named Elva who just took out a $100,000 life insurance policy, and collect the premium. By the way, this old lady happens to live…in the ghe-ttooooooooooo.
Meanwhile, we meet a phone company repairman named Will, who is played by Ray Parker Jr. Yes, THAT Ray Parker Jr. I’m going to do my best to refrain from Ghostbusters puns here, but no promises. As it turns out, Will is also headed over…to the ghe-ttoooooooooo, because he has a lady friend there that he wants to pay a visit to. Makes sense, because I heard he likes the girls! Dammit!
Tumblr media
So Barry arrives…in the ghe-ttoooooooooo, and immediately these kids are like, hey you white cracker honkey ass piece of shit motherfucker, give us two dollars to watch your car. And since Barry is so white he makes Dave Chappelle’s uptight white guy character look like Rudy Ray Moore, he’s like well gee golly, here’s your money, I don’t want any malarkey! And he walks away, at which point the kids start robbing his car. He’s not even out of earshot. Ugh, whatever, movie. Inside the building, Barry taps a kid on the shoulder and asks where Elva’s apartment is. The kid responds very reasonably, and is happy to help him find…nah, I’m joking, the kid is like what the fuck you say to me you white devil cracker ass jive bitch motherfuck shit cracker ass punk, and pulls a switchblade on him. UGGGGGGH, whatever, movie. Luckily, the building’s ancient security guard shoos him away, and helps Barry find Elva’s apartment. Every single line that this security guard has is about how bad the building is, how crime and gang-ridden it is, how they’re probably going to die because they’re roaming the building at this hour, etc. When Barry goes and gets the signature and the premium from Elva, every single line that SHE has is about how bad the building is, how crime and gang-ridden it is, how he’s probably going to die because he’s roaming the building at this hour, etc. Tomi Lahren probably thinks that this movie is a documentary.
Barry and the security guard head back to the elevators, but oh no, there are a bunch of gangsters waiting for them! Turns out that the kid that Barry tapped on the shoulder was a junior member of The Vampires, and now he must pay, with his blooooood!
Tumblr media
OK, time out. This is how you know a white conservative wrote this screenplay: there has never been a street gang like this in reality ever. The Vampires are corny as hell. They refer to white people as “ghosts” and black people who help white people as “blood traitors,” have silly nicknames like Psycho, and do a little salute to one another where they make fangs with their index and middle finger, and hiss. Oh, and their leader calls himself The Count, and the most evil thing he does for the entire movie is break Elva’s glasses. Speaking of Dave Chappelle, the Player Haters Ball would have a field day with these clowns.
However, despite being totally unrealistic and silly, Tony Todd, who plays The Count and went on to play Candyman, is easily the best part of this movie. He takes all of this nonsense about how The Vampires own the night and the building is their castle and plays it with the verve and seriousness of Shakespeare. He chews the scenery, yes, but his presence is magnetic. You can’t take your eyes off of him whenever he’s on screen. The movie gave him a bunch of garbage to sell, and he sells the HELL outta that garbage.
Tumblr media
So there’s a scuffle, and both switchblade kid and the security guard end up getting shot and killed. Ray Parker Jr., having heard something strange in the neighborhood (shit, sorry!) runs out of his lady friend’s apartment and helps Barry get to safety. The movie really kicks into gear here, and I’ve gotta say, becomes rather exciting. They keep the pace going, keep the characters on their toes, and I was surprised to find that I started to become really invested in these characters. I know I’ve been giving him a hard time, but Ray Parker Jr. really isn’t that bad of an actor, you could at least say that he skates by on charisma. But anyhow, these two eventually meet up with Elva’s granddaughter, Toni, played by Stacey Dash (who must’ve felt right at home with all this right wing dog whistling). They decide that the safest place in the building is Mr. Parker’s apartment, as he’s the only person that The Vampires are scared of.
We finally get to Mr. Parker’s apartment, but not before Barry has to stab a Vampire to death, which reduces him to a blubbering mess. Mr. Parker’s door looks like a maximum security jail cell door, and there’s a slot through which he sticks out a gun. Eventually he lets them in, and holy shit, his entire apartment is covered in reinforced steel, wired with booby traps, and Mr. Parker himself turns out to be a kooky crazy Vietnam vet in a fancy, weaponized wheelchair (!!!) played by none other than Jan-Michael Vincent. He goes on and on about how he left one war and found himself in another and says some pretty racist stuff about his fellow tenants and is like, you know why I’ve got this pet bird? So that if there’s a gas leak, I’ll know about it because he died first! And then he’s like, you know why I got this pet cat? So that it can eat my food first, and test it for poison!
At this point, I knew that this character wasn’t going to be in the movie much longer. One, because when you introduce a character this larger than life this late in the narrative, then it’s too good to be true. Two, because at the time, Jan-Michael Vincent was well into his torrid love affair with drugs and alcohol. Despite the fact that Mr. Parker is in a wheelchair, his legs are constantly twitching. You can’t help but speculate that they gave the character a wheelchair because JMV was too drunk to stand up, and considering the sorry state of his health today, that wheelchair becomes almost a harbinger of things to come. Anyway, The Vampires show up and almost immediately kill Mr. Parker. But not before he can give his machine gun to Elva. Chekhov’s machine gun!
Tumblr media
Barry, Toni, and Ray Parker Jr. somehow manage to escape, and they find a little boy who claims to know a secret way out of the building that not even The Vampires know about. On the way, they encounter the aforementioned Psycho, who has a giant geri curl that made me chuckle, and they throw him down an open elevator shaft, which also made me chuckle. So they get down to the basement, gingerly stepping over Psycho’s corpse, and make their way to the secret exit. But guess what? PSYCHO ISN’T DEAD! At this point, I got very excited, because, holy shit, what if The Vampires…ARE ACTUAL VAMPIRES?!?! If the movie suddenly went in THAT direction, that would’ve been so awesome. But, alas, they just kill Psycho again, this time for good. RIP, Psycho.
Eventually the kid leads them to the secret exit, but its a really tight squeeze, so Toni decides to run to the nearby NYPD building for help. Of course, she is almost immediately raped and murdered by an entirely DIFFERENT gang as soon as she leaves the building, because the movie hadn’t shoved its racism in your face in awhile. Without giving too much away, eventually Barry and Ray Parker Jr. also get out, The Count has an amazing, borderline operatic (seriously!) death scene, the rest of The Vampires are shot at by Elva and her new machine gun (yaaaaay!) and in the ultimate example of this being a right wing fantasy, the NYPD, yes, the NYPD, arrives right on time to save the day. Hoooooo boy.
So what else is there to say about Enemy Territory? Yes, it is entertaining. It is a well-constructed action movie with some surprisingly good performances to back it up. I haven’t even discussed the cinematography, which is easily the film’s best technical asset, seeing as it was done by the legendary Ernest Dickerson, who shot all of Spike Lee’s best movies. I can’t imagine it was easy for Ernest to look Spike in the eye after participating in a movie like this. And here’s the thing: Enemy Territory isn’t just racist now, it was considered racist for the time, if you can imagine that. After it was released, on May 22, 1987 (the day I was born!), the film played in New York City for a week before it was pulled from theaters due to overwhelming outrage and protests from black activists and civil rights groups. Though it would make its money back on VHS, the film has never made it to DVD, and there seem to be no current plans to change that. Which is fine by me. Enemy Territory is a shiny piece of entertainment that rots from the inside; what purports to be a gritty look at the big bad city is really nothing more than a collection of racist dog whistles directed at a section of the white population whose view of other races is myopic and bigoted. There are plenty of great 80s action movies that won’t make you queasily think of Bernie Goetz, or the Central Park Five, or Amadou Diallo. After all, real life is bad enough, wouldn’t you rather escape?

Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies) - self destruct until he forgets about it - smokes his lungs black, drinks until his liver fails on him
Most prized possession? - his leather jacket. it's one of the only things he owns that actually fits him - Mrs. Curtis bought it for him and he cherishes it like it's sent from God or something - his St. Christopher, it was given to him by his mother hey thanks @roblowes for letting me steal your hc
Thoughts on material possessions in general? - he came from nothing and died with nothing - materialism is what makes Socs Socs and keeps the rich rich - trust me, when he was a kid, he was practically Robin Hood - both Sonny and the Motorcycle Boy approved
Concept of home and family? - after his mother died, he didn't really know what family was - and he always hated his father - in New York, he learn that family doesn't have to be who you're related to. it's the people who will love and protect you unconditionally - once he met the gang in Tulsa, though, it was different - he truly felt accepted and cared for
Thoughts on privacy? (Are they a private person, or are they prone to ‘TMI’?) - he talks about sex too much - but he's a very private person aside from that - he keeps New York a secret but it's obvious to everyone he's constantly thinking about it
What activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time? - it's not wasting time if you're making money - but if you lose, it is - that being said: pool, bowling and horseshoes on occasion
What makes them feel guilty? - nothing makes him guilty - except that he can't go back to New York - he feels bad that he left his friends and family with no explanation - and he can't remember anyone's addresses for the life of him
Are they more analytical or more emotional in their decision-making? - emotional. he does what he wants in the present and deals with the consequences later
Would they consider themselves a Type A or Type B personality? - he thinks he's type b but we all know it's type a - in New York, he thought he was carefree but we all know he cared too much - in Tulsa, his apathy rose as he had less to fight for, protect and provide for
What recharges them when they’re feeling drained? - sex, mostly
Would you say that they have a superiority-complex? Inferiority-complex? Neither? - probably inferiority because he let Sonny down - he was never good enough for his father and his mother loved dope more than she loved him
How misanthropic are they? - he hates Socs and those who hurt him or the ones he cares about
Hobbies? - pool, bowling, horseshoes, competing in the rodeo, drag races - anything stupid and reckless, really
How far did they get in formal education? What are their views on formal education vs self-education? - he hates school so he barely goes - all his teachers gave up on him - everything he knows, he learned from Sonny, the Motorcycle Boy or on his own
Religion?
- Catholic but he doesn't act like it - but will go to confessions "to get a fresh start"
Superstitions or views on the occult? - superstitious when it's convenient - he was raised on superstitions, both in Detroit by his mother and the gangs and mobsters in the Bronx - he always kisses his ball before bowling or pitching in baseball - he makes wishes in fountains with pennies (don't tell anyone though)
Do they express their thoughts through words or deeds? - through anger cause it's the only emotion he knows how to feel - that and lust but sex means next to nothing to him - he feels good for a while and then it's over
If they were to fall in love, who (or what) is their ideal? - liKE HE CAN - someone who can truly love him for him. knows how to deal with his moods, impulses and past. someone who won't push him too far and can't be pushed away, no matter how hard they try - basically Patty - they don't have to be perfect and they don't have to be just like him. they have to be someone who...pretty much his other half. someone who will take care of him if he protects them, someone who will listen to him and understand. someone empathetic and loves unconditionally
How do they express love? - he doesn't - with actions. he sucks with words - he'll give his partner his jacket or drive them home in 5 o'clock traffic or actually pay for a meal or get them a practical gift or something they've been talking about for a while - staying. he's horrible at commitment, but if he truly loves someone, he'll stay - actually no. you know he loves someone if he always comes back - or if he controls his anger around them. if he represses his anger for someone, he's in love - fighting for his partner. when they get in trouble, he'll back them up
If this person were to get into a fist fight, what is their fighting style like? - when is he not in a fight - he fits fair. if it's skin-on-skin, he doesn't even bring a weapon. he wants the same number of men as the opponent. he follows the rules because if he doesn't, he'll have to deal with the Motorcycle Boy - he doesn't get doped up before a fight. the adrenaline is enough
Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not? - he wants to die 24/7. who are you thinking of??

Angel || Wesley Wyndam-Pryce
Tumblr media
Name: Wesley Wyndam Pryce
Age: 33
Relationship: Single [Verse depending]
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Job: Teacher
Faceclaims: Alexis Denisof
Wesley’s childhood was a largely unhappy one. At the age of six or seven, Wesley attempted to resurrect a dead bird using a mystical scroll stolen from his father’s library.[6] As a teenager, he attended an all-boys preparatory school run by the Watchers Council, where he was named Head Boy.
Wesley was sent to Sunnydale by the Watchers’ Council to serve as a replacement Watcher for both Faith Lehane and Buffy Summers after Rupert Giles was fired. Clean cut, pompous and bossy, Wesley was immediately disliked by the girls under his observation. Prior to his assignment, his only other encounters with vampires had been “under controlled circumstances.” As such, he proved rather inexperienced and handled himself poorly in combat. Giles, his predecessor and a fellow Englishman, did not take him seriously, and tended to support Buffy’s predilection in Wesley’s place despite the Council’s wishes.
While in Sunnydale, Wesley developed a crush on Cordelia Chase, a high school student and reluctant member of the Scooby Gang. Their flirtation culminated when they danced together at the prom; a few days later, they shared an awkward kiss. They both quickly came to realize that they lacked any sort of chemistry. When Faith began to go rogue and killed the Deputy Mayor, the Scoobies neglected to inform Wesley, leaving him to discover the information by eavesdropping on Buffy and Giles as they conversed. Calling in a squadron of the Watchers Council Special Operations Team, Wesley ignorantly ruined Angel’s plan to reach Faith emotionally and ended up driving her into the arms of the villainous Mayor Wilkins instead, a mistake that only earned him further disdain from Buffy and her companions.[7]
After Wesley failed to convince the Council to aid Angel after he was poisoned by Faith, an enraged and disgusted Buffy decided to stop following the Council’s orders altogether and promptly severed all ties with them. Still, Wesley chose to help them fight the Mayor after his Ascension to the demon Olvikan, though he was knocked out almost immediately. Due to his utter failure to control either of the Slayers that he had been assigned to watch, the Watchers Council dismissed and severed all ties with Wesley, even refusing to fly him back to England.
After his dismissal from the Watchers’ Council, Wesley styled himself as a ‘rogue demon hunter’ and took to wearing leather and riding around on a motorcycle, eventually making his way to Los Angeles, where he was timely reunited with Angel and Cordelia. Despite his supposed new look, Wesley was still very much the man he had been in Sunnydale, but with a little more humility as a result of his firing. He began assisting Angel and Cordelia’s recently opened supernatural detective agency, Angel Investigations. He filled the deceased Doyle’s place in the business, and was finally able to put his knowledge of the paranormal to good use by providing Angel and Cordelia with a rich slew of facts in regards to the occult. He kept his firing by the Council a secret from both of them, and merely stated that after Buffy’s refusal to work with the Council, he’d had no opportunity to function as a Watcher, and had thus turned to demon hunting instead. He came to admit his truth of his arrival in L.A. to Angel when Cordelia was kidnapped. Upon rescuing her, he chose to continue working with Angel Investigations, which led him to deal with Penn, a vampire to whom Angelus had acted as a sire and a mentor in the past, and Cordelia’s mystical pregnancy.
Wesley’s path soon became wrought with tragedy. Just as he was beginning to have romantic feelings for teammate Fred Burkle, he was supernaturally influenced to attempt to kill her.[8] He still harbored feelings for her and eventually decided to try again, however Gunn had similar feelings which were reciprocated. As a result, Wesley was forced to watch as the two started a happy relationship. After the birth of Angel’s son, Connor, Wesley became convinced by a prophecy that Angel would eventually kill his own baby. With the intention of keeping Connor safe, Wesley betrayed his friends by conspiring with Angel’s old enemy, Daniel Holtz, and kidnapped the infant. Wesley’s plan went terribly wrong, and resulted in his throat being cut and Connor being swept away to the hell dimension Quor'toth by Holtz. As it turned out, the prophecy had been created by Sahjhan, a time-warping demon who had learned that Connor was destined to kill him.
When Angel was sealed in a metal coffin and sunk to the bottom of the ocean by Connor and Justine, Wesley kidnapped Justine and forced her to help him find and retrieve Angel; when they did so, Wesley went so far as to feed Angel his own blood to help him regain his strength before dropping him back off at the Hyperion. After offering Angel advice in finding what had happened to Cordelia, and participating in a spell to restore Cordelia’s lost memory, Wesley eventually returned to the team full-time during the gang’s first confrontation with The Beast and Jasmine’s manifestation.
Now deeply serious, humorless, and pessimistic, he took command and made the difficult decision to force Angelus to resurface in Angel’s body when information about Angelus’ history with The Beast was uncovered. Wesley also had to face the trauma of Lilah’s death, particularly when he was forced to decapitate her corpse in order to esure she wouldn’t rise again as a vampire.[10] In an attempt to save Connor, Angel performed a powerful mind-wipe that removed certain events from the collective memories of the world at large, causing Wesley to forget all of his memories involving Connor, and along with it, his betrayal of Angel and the group (Although precisely what he remembered of this new history was never clarified).
After Angel and his team chose to take over the Los Angeles branch of Wolfram & Hart, Wesley began working with them once more. Just as he had adjusted to his new surroundings, his father arrived and tried to convince him to rejoin the Watchers’ Council. Roger Wyndam-Pryce was soon revealed to have sinister intentions when he attempted to steal Angel’s free will. When his father threatened to kill Fred, Wesley shot and killed him without a moment’s hesitation, and continued to fire his gun until the magazine was empty. Although it turned out that the being he had killed wasn’t his real father, but rather a cyborg imitation, Wesley was still understandably traumatized.
Afterward, Wesley and Fred finally admitted their longtime feelings for one another and began a romantic relationship. It was short lived, however; Fred became infected with some sort of mystical illness that turned out to be the Old One known as Illyria shelling her out to occupy her body. Wesley was forced to feel the woman he loved die in his arms as Illyria is resurrected. In turn, Wesley stabbed Gunn who inadvertently was responsible for Fred coming into contact with the virus, and then shot Knox, the man responsible for choosing Fred as Illyria’s vessel.
This tragedy left Wesley a broken man who turned to alcohol to ease his pain. Descending into alcoholism, Wesley began to hold onto Illyria as the only thing he had left of Fred, helping her understand the human world and emotions she was blighted with. He inadvertently restored his and his friends’ memories of Connor when he smashed the Orlon Window that held said memories, upon learning that Angel had magically altered history when he accepted Wolfram & Hart’s offer, thinking that Fred was the price for doing so. Expecting Fred to return, he instead was gifted with the painful memories of stealing Connor and betraying Angel. Upon discussing the returned memories with Illyria who regained Fred’s lost memories, Wesley, obviously downtrodden, told her to forget reality and focus on the fake memories as they were made for a reason.
Following his death, Wesley returned due to the standard perpetuity clause in his Wolfram & Hart contract keeping him working for the company even after death.[11] He was made the liaison between the Senior Partners and the Los Angeles branch of Wolfram & Hart, which was sent to hell by the Senior Partners along with the rest of Los Angeles, being permanently trapped in the form of the pompous and cowardly Watcher he once was; however, knowing that they would not be able to control him as they had Lilah or Holland Manners, the Senior Partners revived Wesley as a ghost and rendered him unable to make contact with anything. For the first few weeks in Hell, Wesley cared for Angel who had been rendered human by the Senior Partners and was badly injured. Upon recovering, Wesley helped him mystically keep up the guise that he was still a vampire and assisted in healing his wounds. Wesley tried to contact Cordelia, who had become a higher power, for assistance; but she and the other Powers That Be were unable to exert any influence in Wolfram & Hart’s domain.
He was apparently destroyed when Gunn, who had become a vampire, destroyed the Wolfram & Hart building. He then convinced the bodiless voices in the White Room to let him return with Angel. As he returns during the battle against the Demon Lords of Los Angeles, he is seen by Illyria who, as a result, transforms into Fred. Spike subsequently tries to keep Illyria from Wesley, because as Fred she is vulnerable. Illyria however, was protective both over Wesley and his deceased body, which remained in her possession.
After Connor dies, Angel, in a fit of rage, begins slaughtering Wolfram & Hart’s army. After questioning the army, Wesley realizes that the Senior Partners cannot allow Angel to die, thus giving them an opportunity to undo the death and chaos caused by the Partners sending Los Angeles to Hell, as they reversed time to before the Fall. However, because Wesley died before the Fall, he would remain dead. Nonetheless, Wesley is resigned to his fate, believing that he had nothing more to live for with Fred gone (he reminds Angel that “she” is dead as well), and walks away, but not before asking Spike to take care of Illyria in his stead.
In the new timeline, Angel uses his new status as a public hero to rename a wing of the public library in honor of Fred and Wesley. Although Angel was told that Fred’s soul has been destroyed, he occasionally imagines that Wesley and Fred have been reunited after death, interpreting a wind blowing whenever he reflects on this as Cordelia’s attempt to remind him not to be so pessimistic. However, this belief became academic after the End of magic and its subsequent restoration resulted in Fred being brought back to life, Fred now sharing her body with Illyria.
Wesley’s most notable personality trait was his ruthlessness; he was “one to make the hard decisions even if he has to make them alone.”[6] He would rather have allowed Willow to die than to give the Mayor back an object which would allow him to complete his Ascension. He is immediately dismissed by the Scoobies as lacking in compassion, though his logic is sound.[12] Later examples include his plans to storm the Pylean Royal Palace, sending numbers of rebels to certain death to allow the rest to infiltrate the palace; taking baby Connor away from Angel; and shooting what he thought was his own father to protect Angel and Fred. Despite this, Wesley has allowed his emotions to get the better of him, such as stabbing Gunn and killing Knox after Fred died.
Wesley began as a “by-the-book” Watcher, characterized as an “annoying version of Giles,” demonstrating an arrogance in his knowledge and an over-confidence in his lackluster combat skills, but gradually matures to show a more caring, compassionate side through his friendship with Angel and his temporary position as team leader, as well as becoming a skilled independent combatant capable of standing up to such powerful foes as Angelus, The Beast, and magician Cyvus Vail. An example of his early arrogance is when he proudly tells an annoyed Giles that he killed two vampires under controlled circumstances and in a later battle is completely useless, forcing Giles to save him. While initially by the book, he ends up deferring to Giles a lot and eventually comes to aid Buffy on his own when she’s quit the Council and thus no longer needs his help.
While initially Wesley and Giles were polar opposites, they began to mirror each other through their willingness to commit “lesser evils” for the greater good. Both either attempted or succeeded in murdering people with the aims of saving the world. For instance, just as Giles killed Ben Wilkinson to prevent the eventual resurgence of Glory, Wesley tried to kill the newly arisen Illyria, without hesitation or attempting to find a way to separate her from her shell, Fred. Both were also willing to let innocents die (such as Dawn, Willow, and arguably Spike) for the same cause.
Wesley has a strained relationship with his father Roger Wyndam-Pryce. His father had always been disappointed in him as a child, an attitude that was worsened when Wesley was fired from the Watchers Council.
Wesley was an adult man of taller yet average build, with formally styled dark brown hair and gold-rimmed glasses. When he first appeared in Sunnydale, he most often dressed in prim suits, vests and overshirts, and had a manner of dress and attitude somewhat reminiscent of fellow Watcher Rupert Giles. Upon joining Angel Investigations, he maintained his style and mannerisms; however, as his character progressed Wesley took on a more casual appearance, mostly wearing black or white t-shirts under a short sleeve button shirt, light coloured pullovers, khaki pants and a wool pea coat. As he slowly regressed into darkness and depression his attire came to match (black t-shirts, darker ill fitting button shirts, jeans, work/cargo pants, sweaters and a stained brown leather coat), which were oftentimes stained or unwashed in appearance. He also left his hair unstyled, no longer wore glasses (despite his heavy use of firearms around that time) and even allowed himself to light stubble, which added to his air of melancholy. Even after he rejoined Angel and his friends at Wolfram & Hart, he retained his more casual clothing style, even if he assumed a more groomed appearance rather than his previously disheveled look and slightly more work place friendly clothing. He returned to his suit and tie when he became Angel’s Liaison to the Senior Partners, but this was explicitly identified as part of their torment of him, forcing Wesley to regress back to an appearance and time that he had grown apart from.
Wesley had average strength for a man his height and weight, although he was somewhat athletic due to the lifestyle he led. Although trained in the skills of a Watcher, his overwhelming fear initially prevented him from gaining experience in real-life combat, and rendered him useless in fights. In one example, Giles was forced to save him during a vampire fight soon after he became Buffy’s Watcher, and in another, he was knocked out nearly immediately in the final battle with the evil Mayor although he does save Cordelia from VampWillow, suggesting a potential for heroism. In yet another instance, he proved extremely bumbling at rescuing Cordelia while a “rogue demon hunter” and is easily bested by the sadistic empath demon Barney and is only saved when Cordelia kills Barney herself. However, Wesley gained experience during his time with Angel, as his personality hardened, and he became an incredibly skilled martial artist, as well as being proficient with weapons. He was able to take on vampires with success and subdued Justine Cooper single-handedly on two occasions. A powerful and efficient marksman, he was able to hit a tiny target while performing acrobatics (e.g., when he killed the demon Skip by shooting a bullet into the small hole in his armor created when Angel broke a horn off in a previous confrontation). Contrary to Buffy and Angel’s methods to fight demons, Wesley made extensive use of firearms in the fight against evil and habitually packs a pair of 13-shot version Colt 45 pistols and a compact pump-action shotgun.[13] Even before he began using firearms regularly, he was able to help Angel take out a Haxil Beast with a vat of liquid nitrogen by shooting the canister just as Angel had thrown it at the Haxil Beast, and was later able to take out a member of the Council’s black ops team by keeping track, while under direct fire, of how many bullets had been fired, coming out from under cover only when the other man had run out of bullets.
In his state as liaison to the Senior Partners, Wesley possessed a link to the Partners that allowed him to communicate with them, but was trapped in an intangible state that prevented him from making contact with anything, while having the bonus of rendering him completely immune to physical attacks. It was never revealed whether he, like Spike, would have been able to make contact with the world around him if he wanted to badly enough (although given Spike’s example, it is possible that he would not have been of that much use even if this had been the case).

THE FRENEMY: someone she attended school with and perhaps fucked over with her old website “the secret bitch” but they play nice with tabby because of fear of what else she could release but they’re not exactly on great terms.

Chapter One
It wasn't exactly an easy life being Captain of the Royal Guard and Prince of the kingdom, second only in line to his older brother and rightful heir to the throne Martyn Lester, but Phil Lester had learned to manage. In fact, he'd even learned to enjoy himself, and it helped that his family was a loved one. Their kingdom had been thriving peacefully under the Lester reign for over a hundred and fifty years now, lending them a happy kind of credibility that Phil knew for a fact not many other kingdoms had a chance to enjoy.
Things were good in Morellia. Phil’s father, the reigning King Harold Lester, had always been strong in politics, and he’d long since negotiated peace between the nations at their borders, securing trade and movement agreements to keep everyone happy. The economy was flourishing, and while there were still countless dangers from far away Kingdoms and the dark creatures that lurked in the forests to the North and South of the Palace Walls, war did not loom on their horizon.
The people were happy, and Phil. Well, Phil was happy too. Mostly.
See, while Phil's family was well-loved and largely accepting of their people, allowing their kingdom far more freedoms than was sometimes commonly heard of, this practice was not always a positive one for Phil.
Things were different in Morellia: there were class differences, but they were largely bridged through the work of Phil's father and his father before him, and there was poverty, but no one was tethered by their birth. There were always ways to move up in the world, and there were no laws forbidding or forcing marriage between or out of classes. Instead, Phil's grandfather and father had both married from the common people, and now Phil's brother was betrothed to a woman they’d both grown up in the Castle with. Cornelia’s mother was a long-time employee of the Lester family, and as was due all palace employee’s children, Cornelia had gotten the best education alongside both Phil and Martyn. It came as no surprise to anyone when the two fell in love.
That left Phil the only Prince left in the kingdom unbetrothed, un-tethered, and far too recognizable for his own good.
Since both Phil and Martyn had grown up in a world where it was ordinary for the common people to throw in their names for dating candidacy, and since there was no arranged marriage and therefore no arranged dating, Phil and Martyn had always had the pick of the lot. Only, this had never felt like a benefit to Phil. Instead, it had always left a bitter taste in his mouth, because every time he'd thought he'd fancied a girl, he'd turn around the corner and find her whispering away to her friends about how she only liked Prince Philip because Prince Martyn was dating that other girl, and if she couldn't be Queen, then she'd settle for Princess.
One too many heartbreaks later, Phil had eventually decided to give up dating altogether, never once having even received his first kiss while Martyn pranced about singing when he lost his virginity. Disgruntled and ashamed, Phil had turned his training to the Royal Guard, until, when he'd turned twenty-three, Captain Kregin had retired and named Phil the new Captain.
Loved and admired by his men, Phil had sunk himself in, netting wanted criminal after wanted criminal and making a name for himself slowly but surely, building his reputation until he was more than just a less pretty version of his brother.
In fact, despite his men being sometimes too protective and concerned for Phil’s safety, Phil had almost single-handedly destroyed the entire crime syndicate of the palace city - or at least the thieving network - and nearly the entire wanted list while he was at it. The only name left was the most formidable thief Morellia had ever seen; the legendary King of Thieves, and he was the bane of Phil’s existence.
Love had been traded out for Justice, and now, nearly an entire year into leading the Royal Guard, Phil had finally cornered his greatest adversary.
"Stand down, outlaw. We've got you cornered. There's nowhere left to run," Phil stated proudly, sat atop his horse and unable to help his smug grin as he pointed the tip of his great sword at the nose of the thief the Royal Guard had been chasing for years.
Said legendary King of Thieves was a rugged young man, barely more than a boy really at the ripe age of nineteen, named Daniel Howell. No one knew his true name, though, and only a very select few of his most trusted allies knew to call him ‘Dan’. To everyone else, he was the King of Thieves, and he’d been plaguing Morellia for years.
He hadn’t been alone, either. Dan had gathered a band of thieves about himself, only the best of the best joining his gang, and while their actions were widespread, lately, Dan had been focusing more and more on the capital. Some of the kingdom’s poorest lived there, after all.
Dan hadn’t become known as the King of Thieves for nothing. It had taken a lot for the people to love him enough to give him that title. To the upper classes of Morellia, Dan was a figure to be feared and hated, a story told to children to make them stay in their bed at night. To the poor community, though, Dan had become something of a figurehead, stealing from only the very richest in the capital and then setting up a market in the night where the poor families, orphaned children, and sickly people could come to get food or treasures to sell on the black market.
Whether it was moral or not, Dan didn’t care. He didn’t think too much on justice, didn’t even let himself think of companionship. Even his band of thieves were kept at a distance, and he was seen to them as a distant commander. If they broke his rules and stole from someone who couldn’t afford it, then they’d see and fear his wrath.
Or, at least, they had been able to. In recent months, ever since that abominable Prince Philip had become Captain of the Royal Guard, every single one of Dan’s trusted band of thieves had been picked off one-by-one. He’d tried desperately to keep hold of his structure, to keep stealing and giving to the markets he’d set up at night, but treasure grew more and more scarce as there were fewer and fewer thieves available to steal for him.
Eventually, Dan was the only one left. He didn’t give up, though. The rush of adrenaline that always accompanied stealing drove him to break into one of the richest houses in the capital, hunting one of the greatest treasures celebrated throughout Morellia: the Duchess of Ara’s prized emerald. He'd planned this heist down to the last detail for weeks. Ordinarily, he'd have jumped in feet-first straight away and made off with the emerald ages ago, but his steps had been dogged by Prince-fucking-Philip’s Royal Guard, and they were severely limiting Dan's movements.
Not that he was struggling, because he wasn't. Dan knew how good of a thief he was. He'd been doing this since he was ten years old and had cared for his brother, his stealing having only stepped up after his brother's passing two years later. Dan had vowed never to be poor again, and by hook or by crook, he was going to succeed.
And, for the most part, he had achieved his dream.
Dan had a nice pile of gold tucked away in a cave in the desert near the crown city, impenetrable to all but himself; he’d never shown anyone else its interior. His most prized possessions were tucked away there, the secrets of his past that no one but he was allowed to know. The cave was his home, but he couldn’t stay there as often as he liked. In order to keep on top of such a widespread campaign, Dan had set up several bases in the different cities of Morellia, each filled with trinkets he stole and then used to buy food for each city’s poorest. The base he was proudest of was in Morellia itself, and it was there he was headed - if he could just shake Prince-fucking-Philip off his trail.
The trouble was, Prince Philip seemed to be hell-bent on eradicating thievery from his land entirely (which, why? Couldn't he just let Dan steal in peace?), and he'd set about tracking Dan's every movement until Dan could barely turn around without seeing another flaming Royal Guardsmen on his trail. In the end, he'd grown impatient of waiting, and dove for the emerald anyway.
Which was why Dan now found himself currently cornered in the back streets of the capital, the emerald tucked into his trademark black cloak, and Prince-fucking-Philip's sword pointed in his face.
Dan licked his lips, eyes darting left-to-right. Unfortunately, it seemed the Prince was right - Dan was trapped with his back to the wall, surrounded by the Prince's horsemen while Dan was only on his feet. The priceless emerald he’d stolen sat heavy in his cloak, but like hell was Dan giving it up - especially on his first physical encounter with this Prince who'd been making his life hell ever since he’d taken over the Royal Guard. Why couldn't he just go back to prissy palace life like his brother, Crown Prince Martyn?
Dan had no trouble recognising the man. He'd seen Philip Lester's face in all of the public ceremonies, same as any other citizen of Morellia. Dan had just never really paid attention until now. Prince Philip was young - older than Dan, perhaps, but still young for his job - and his eyes were fierce, the kind that told Dan he may be in trouble.
(He was also kind of pretty, but Dan didn't have time for that right now.
...Who was he kidding, he always had time for that).
"Well," Dan drawled slowly, adopting a languid position with his back against the wall. "I can see why you'd think that, Prince. But we thieves are rather good at finding our way out of tight spots. Though I don't expect you'd know that, locked up in your prissy palace as you are. Do you know anything of the criminal world?"
Phil gritted his teeth as the King of Thieves spoke up in front of him, relaxing against the wall Phil had him backed up against as if nothing was wrong at all, as if he wasn't just on the verge of being captured and tried in the High Court. Phil prodded his horse that little bit further forward, drawing on its reins to pull it up short, and shifted his sword so the blade was glinting just underneath the thief's throat. The thief didn't even blink, his lazy grin and countenance already beginning to grate on Phil's nerves.
Somehow, he'd never imagined the King of Thieves would be quite like this; mouthy and rude. Why he’d thought otherwise, he didn’t know.
"Watch your tongue, thief," Phil growled, unimpressed. "I know enough to know you're all alone out here. Locked up the rest of your friends, haven't I?" he taunted haughtily, that same smug grin from before pulling at the corners of his lips all over again. He just couldn't help it, he was so goddamn proud. Phil Lester, Head of the Royal Guard for less than a year, and he had the King of Thieves pressed up against a wall, dark hood of his trademark cloak long since blown back off the top of his head.
That face was a face that Phil would never forget; dark hair and even darker eyes, warm despite the horrible things Phil knew this thief to do.
"Hand over the Emerald and come quietly, and I might even find you a proper cell to lock you up in," Phil demanded.
Behind him, three of his strongest men sat fanned out around him, blocking off the dark alleyway they'd managed to corner the King of Thieves in, horses panting and snorting in agitation at standing still after such a long chase through the back streets of the dingiest part of the royal town. Phil could hear them clipping their horseshoes against the gravel below them, the sun burning down against the back of Phil's neck. His armor creaked as he pushed his sword that little bit tighter to the thief’s neck as he waited for a response
"I mean," Dan still spoke exaggeratedly slowly, giving himself time to assess the situation. "I could hand over the emerald, sure."
Carefully, Dan edged back a little against the wall, relieving some of the pressure from the blade pressed up against his neck. The silver glinted dully in the lamplights from the street, the night sky sitting heavy with cloud above them. Dan did his best not to swallow - the feeling of cold metal against the bare skin of his throat was far from pleasant.
Dan was not unused to such scenarios, though. He'd become well versed in escaping guards over his nineteen years of life - even if most of the guards he encountered had nothing close to the shining silver armour currently adorning Prince Philip's handsome body.
"Or," Dan continued, deciding to have a bit of fun. He'd spotted a possible escape route - the wall he was leaning against had a good foothold, and led up to the rooftop of one of the city's halls which Dan knew from experience he could scamper across to get back to his base. He just needed to keep Prince Philip talking until he was able to escape.
Phil narrowed his eyes at the thief’s words, waiting for the other shoe to drop, sword glistening dangerously to his own eyes. He lifted his chin, brow furrowed as he watched the thief's eyes dart about the small enclave they'd cornered him in. Phil's horse whinnied, and Phil pulled up on it's reins.
The horses were growing impatient.
"Or...?" Phil repeated, waiting. He didn't want or have time to play these stupid games, wasn't dumb enough to believe that the thief was doing anything other than attempting to stall, and yet he stood there vaguely intrigued, waiting to see what the famous King of Thieves would do.
"Or, I could just keep it." Dan slowly reached inside his cloak, withdrawing the emerald wrapped in dark cloth sitting temptingly in the palm of his hand. Its weight was comfortably heavy, a good strong presence, and Dan could feel his lust for treasure rearing inside his chest. This emerald would look so good next to his collection of precious stones. He could even use it as a paperweight for his more precious scrolls.
Yeah, there was no way in hell Dan was giving this emerald up.
Digging up his bravery, Dan looked up at Prince Philip, sat on his horse, and gave him a slow, arrogant smirk. "Unless you beg for it, of course. I kind of like my time outside your dungeons - you'd better make this good."
"As if we would let you keep the Emerald, Thief," Phil scoffed, rolling his eyes and pressing his sword ever closer to Dan. "And the last thing I plan to do is beg to you." Phli's voice had dropped an octave, dangerous as he bared his teeth at Dan. The emerald was right there, wrapped up in a pretty, dark cloth, and Phil knew, if he let him, Dan would have it stowed away again in seconds - or worse yet, find a way to get away. With the hand holding his horse's reins, Phil dropped them and reached out.
"Give it here," he demanded, and really, that was his first mistake.
Dan was moving the second the Prince dropped his horse's reins.
In an instant, he was no longer against the wall. Instead, he dropped, falling gracefully sideways to avoid the blade still at his neck, using the Prince's new found imbalance against him, because really, did this Prince think he could just let his horse sit there with no control and Dan wouldn’t use that to his advantage?
As Dan dropped into a practiced crouch, his eyes darted around the tiny corner he'd found himself in, and - yes, there - to his right, a tiny little ledge, barely visible, but just enough for his purposes. Dan scuttled towards it in his crouch, listening to the Prince's horse whicker as he moved. He was counting on the animal's desire to get out of this alley to aid him in his escape - after all, horses did not like being kept in cramped places, and especially not by riders who were stupid enough to drop their reins. As he’d predicted, the Captain’s horse shuffled back when Dan moved forward, clearly eager to be out of the alley. That eagerness gave Dan enough space to move, if not escape.
Phil really should have seen it coming. The minute the reins had left his hands, the King of Thieves was dropping into a crouch, causing Phil's horse to startle, whinnying and rearing back. Phil barely kept hold of her, gripping tight to her mane in fear of his safety and hers, the arm with the sword practiced enough in combat that Phil not only maintained his hold, but prevented himself from thrashing out and slashing anyone in arm’s length, including the great thief himself or Phil's horse.
"You're cornered, thief!" Phil crowed as he worked to get his startled and impatient mare under his control once more. She tossed her head, trying to loosen Phil's hold, but his legs gripped her tight around the sides, and though he could not find the reins once more to control her, he did yip at her, using his training to his best ability to calm her down. "Where are you meant to run? Whether you're under my sword or not, we'll not move to let you leave."
Phil kept his watchful eye on the thief as his horse bayed and tossed her head, swinging his sword around to once again point it at King of Thieves nose.
Carefully, Dan edged back towards the ledge, his eyes meeting the Prince's once again as he casually said, “Yes, well, it might look that way to you.” He couldn't yet completely relax - the Prince still had a sword, after all, and even without it being pressed to Dan's neck, he knew he wasn't in the clear just yet. He needed a couple more seconds - one more distraction, one more mistake by Prince Philip, and Dan would be up on the ledge and gone.
The other three Royal Guardsmen were still flanking the Prince, but the limited space in the alley rendered them almost entirely useless - unless Dan tried to run.
Luckily, he wasn't going to run.
At least, not that way.
First things first, though - he had to make sure to keep the Prince just angry enough to still make mistakes. So he looked the Prince directly in the eyes - he'd already seen Dan's face, there was no use hiding it now - and grinned.
Straight up grinned, like he was having the best time of his life, and not edging near a ledge, about to flee.
"So you see," Dan drawled, casually bouncing the emerald up-and-down in his hand, "I kind of don't really want to give this back yet. Got some redecorating to do at home, you know? It'll look perfect near my magnolias."
The thief smiled at Phil, their eyes meeting directly for the first time, brown to blue, and Phil found himself very nearly winded and very much confused.
There was so much in those deep, dark eyes, so much that he couldn’t understand, and it was shocking, to be pinned so effectively underneath them.
Phil watched as the stolen emerald was tossed up and down, and then, he lunged, snarling as the King of Thieves dared to snark and tease him, his smirk damn near unbearable.
That was Phil's second mistake.
In moments, his mare was whinnying loudly and rearing onto her back legs, sending Phil flying from her back as she took off at a stern run out of the alley, taking Phil’s three guards and their horses with her as well. The sound of their baying echoed through the alley long after they’d gone, all while Phil groaned as he hit the ground.
The fall was enough to wind him for a moment, though his armor took most of the blow from his hard landing on the dark cobblestones below. Lucky as he was, Phil managed to keep his head from striking the ground, suddenly feeling rather ridiculous he hadn’t worn his helmet for the chase that day.
It took all of a few seconds for Phil to push himself into a sitting position, but when he did, he found himself left watching as the King of Thieves expertly scaled the wall in front of him and hauled himself up onto the nearby roof, not looking to have any trouble at all.
Dan was up the wall in seconds, the emerald stashed away inside his cloak once again. He could feel the ragged material billowing out behind him as he scaled the wall with practiced movements, the ground dropping further and further away behind him. He could hear horse's hooves thundering away and couldn't help but grin - his plan had worked perfectly. The Royal Guard was gone. For a second there, with the Prince's blade at his nose, Dan had felt a moment of doubt.
He’d made it, though. As he always did.
When he reached the top of the wall, Dan pulled himself easily up onto the nearest rooftop - which he thought may have been the city library, though he wasn't sure as his sense of direction had been a bit turned around when he was being chased across the city. Either way, he should be able to find his way back towards his base safely enough from these rooftops.
Dan sat back on his heels, carefully reaching into his cloak to check on the emerald. It was heavy in his grip, warmed by his flesh and racing heartbeat - these sorts of chases always got him going.
He slowly rose to his feet, doing his usual check of his surroundings, and it was only then that he noticed the Prince still in the alley below him - horseless and completely backup-less, probably for the first time in his entire royal life.
Gritting his teeth, Phil pushed himself to his feet, not bothering to look behind him; he knew his men were gone, carried away by their runaway horses.
Leaning over, eyes never once leaving the proud thief above him, Phil picked up his sword.
He wasn't at all surprised when the King of Thieves turned up on the rooftop, cloak billowing out behind him once more, and found Phil standing below him.
For a moment, a brief expression of surprise flashed over his features, and then a smirk spread across his lips, an expression that made Phil's fingers clench hard around his sword handle. He could feel himself aching to follow after the proud man flaunting himself above Phil if for no other reason than wounded pride, but he did no such thing, instead choosing to glare up at the thief he’d been chasing for months now.
Dan blinked. He'd expected the Prince to run, but no - his horse must have thrown him, or he'd jumped off in some misguided attempt to capture Dan himself. Either way, Dan was slightly impressed - it took guts to stay alone in a dark alley in this area of the city. Now, the Prince was standing there glaring up at him, and he cut quite a figure - burly in his shining armour, his sword still in his palm, and those eyes - the depths of those blue eyes, so pure and certain. He looked like a knight straight out of one of the history books Dan loved.
Dan was pleased. The Prince was still down there, and Dan was safe up here - he could afford to play some more.
"What was that about me being cornered?" he teased lightly. Just because he could, Dan adopted a dramatic stance atop the roof, his cloak billowing out behind him, the emerald still visible in his grip.
"From where I'm standing, Prince Philip, I think you may need to reassess your situation. I highly doubt you can stop me from all the way down there." Dan allowed himself another lazy smirk. "I'm rather enjoying the view, actually."
"I found you once, King of Thieves, I'll find you again," Phil gritted out, watching as the thief posed above him, flaunting the way his hips jutted out smartly, the way his cloak billowed about him proudly. There was no man like the King of Thieves, and Phil would not soon forget his face, his demeanor, anything about him really.
Those eyes would haunt his dreams.
There was a rugged handsomeness about him as well that kept Phil's attention, but he would shove those thoughts aside for now, use them to his advantage when he needed them, and try, try not to let his anger and pride get the better of him next time.
But that was easier said than done, and as the King of Thieves taunted Phil once more, he dropped his sword, quickly flinging away the armor on his body. It would only weigh him down more.
"Don't be so sure of yourself. You think I got to be Head of the Royal Guard without proving myself? Why don't you keep standing there and see what happens?" Phil growled, throwing away his chest plate last of all and marching towards the very part of the wall the King of Thieves had used to scale up to the rooftop he stood upon now.
Phil's chest was heaving, and he knew he was being ridiculous, but he couldn't seem to help himself with this man, this man who had proven a formidable foe that Phil vowed to himself to one day take down.
Dan's brows shot up when the Prince began removing his armour right in front of him. The man had to be insane, right? He had to know that Dan had scaled a near-impossible wall, the handholds barely visible. Dan had no trouble, but that was because he'd been making such escapes since his very earliest childhood. What hope did a prissy palace Prince have?
Not that Dan was complaining about the view, mind. He couldn't help the way his eyes trailed down Prince Philip's chest as he removed the last of his armour. There were muscles rippling under there - Dan wondered if his strength came anywhere close to Dan's own.
His brows rose even higher when the Prince approached the wall. This guy had to be kidding, surely? He must know that Dan wasn't exactly unarmed (the three daggers concealed about his person were old friends), and yet he was climbing up towards Dan without any protection other than his own strength.
This man had guts. Dan was having to do a very quick character reassessment of everything he knew about Prince Philip.
"I mean, I'm sure you Royal Guardsmen have trained very hard," Dan replied slowly, deliberately making his tone as patronising as he could, "But are you sure you want to risk this, Prince? You're coming up to my world now."
Phil was trembling with anger now, teeth gritted and muscles bunched, tensed as he tried to hold himself back. Was this thief still taunting him? Did he still have the gall to tease Prince Philip Lester, the man who'd just stripped away his armor, thrown his sword to the floor, and was threatening to scale a wall to reach him?
Some part of Phil, the deep, intelligent part of Phil, knew that this man, this King of Thieves, was being patronizing on purpose, trying to rile Phil up, trying to bring Phil down to his level, and yet, that didn't stop him, didn't slow down his anger in the least. In fact, it only fueled it until Phil was letting out a low growl of frustration and throwing himself at the wall, one foot catching hold of a small ledge that Phil was convinced Dan had found to haul himself up in the first place.
Phil hadn't been lying, and Dan could tease and mess with Phil all he wanted; the Royal Guard were trained, and trained hard. Phil knew how to scale a goddamned wall.
Dan knew he should probably run, but - and he hated to admit this - he was fascinated. Fascinated by this Prince's gall, his determination. He had to watch how this played out.
"I admit, your determination to catch me is impressive," Dan continued smoothly as he slid the emerald back inside his cloak. It was lined with pockets that were never empty, always filled with stolen coins and other precious jewels. "I'm actually quite flattered. Are you lavishing your attention upon me, Prince? Should I be blushing like a pretty maiden?"
Dan stood on the balls of his feet, tracking the Prince's every movement. Carefully, he reached down into his left boot and slid out his little dagger, the blade wickedly sharp. Should the Prince actually manage to get up the wall, he wouldn't find Dan unarmed.
"Perhaps you should be, thief. I'm certain this is the most attention you've had in years. When was the last time you laid in bed with a women?" Phil gritted out, his hands and feet finding hand holds and ledges aplenty nearly on instinct as he scaled the wall, unable to watch the thief above him as he went, but certain he wouldn't move. The drive and anger in Phil kept him going until he reached the top, and then he was scrambling, reaching into his belt to pull free a very small, very fine dagger he'd had since he was a boy.
It took one quick bound to land Phil on the roof with Dan, and he moved instinctively away from the edge, driving Dan backwards as quickly as he could.
Phil didn't want either of them to die, tonight.
Dan should probably stop being surprised by Prince Philip right about now, but really, the last thing he'd expected was for the Prince to scale the wall almost as easily as Dan had. A tiny flicker of doubt crossed Dan's mind - this was the second time he'd underestimated the Prince, and a third time could see him killed. Or at the very least, captured. The Prince was too fair a man to kill him without good reason.
Thankfully, Dan had no such qualms.
He dropped back into his crouch when the Prince's head appeared over the wall, the dagger feeling natural in his hand, but then the Prince was up and moving towards him, forcing Dan backwards.
Dan was light on his feet, his movements sinuous as he allowed the Prince to move them away from the edge of the roof. This could work to his advantage - Dan had the whole network of connected rooftops at his back. If he really needed to, he could flee. He knew this place like the back of his hand, whereas he doubted whether the Prince had ever been up here before. Dan had the advantage in this world.
"I'm afraid women don't really do it for me," Dan answered the Prince's baited question easily enough with another slow smirk. "Now, handsome princes, on the other hand..." Dan slid easily to the left, circling Phil slowly, like a wildcat stalking its prey. "That's a whole other matter. I could destroy you, Prince Philip. What do you say? Willing to risk chasing the King of Thieves himself?"
The King of Thieves was quick and light on his feet, crouching low and bounding backwards almost faster than Phil could keep up. Phil had always been heavy on his feet, kind of bumbling even now despite his training, and so he was forced to hang back, watch his feet, focus on not falling off the roof while the thief did not face those challenges.
It hardly mattered, though. Phil had proved his point: that he could match the King of Thieves, and that he would never give up.
His eyes went wide the second that the thief started teasing him, and he blanched, taken by surprise as the King of Thieves came onto him in the most balant, unexpected way. Phil faltered, turning and trying his best to keep Dan in his line of sight, following him and matching his movements as carefully as he was able. Still, he knew the thief was unmatched here; Phil had been stupid to try and follow him into his own world.
It wasn't helping that Phil's head was still kind of spinning from the flirting, either.
"I can't tell whether you're coming onto me, or threatening to kill me, but it seems almost unfair that I'd fall to a man whose name I don't even know," Phil quipped back, trying not to let his shock show. He knew the King of Thieves was only trying to catch Phil off guard, but still. Flirting was something he was accustomed to, sure, but he’d never liked it, always far too aware of its falsehood. So Phil reeled around to distract them both, and stalked towards the thief, watching him jump back and grinning at his almost shocked expression from Phil's calculated but surprising movement.
Oh, this Prince was just precious. Dan was completely taken with his bumbling movements, with the shocked way those blue eyes widened when he realised what Dan was suggesting. Prince Philip was clearly out of his comfort zone here, and Dan used that to his advantage, stalking him with fast, easy movements.
Until the Prince suddenly strode towards him unexpectedly.
Dan scurried back, unbalanced for half-a-second before he regained his control. Momentary surprise could be deadly in this kind of situation, but Dan was too well practised to be afraid. He was toying with the Prince more than anything, knowing he could flee any time he needed to.
And oh, was this Prince fun to play with.
The thief was quick to recover, fumbling for less than a second before his nimble feet righted him once more, but Phil hardly cared, still glowing with pride a little to know that he'd done that. He'd pushed the King of Thieves, nearly thrown him off his feet. Phil had learned how to combat nimble fighters with his own weight and strength, but it was difficult on a rooftop that Phil didn't know the way the thief did.
"Are you asking for my name, Prince?" Dan looked at him from under his lashes, smirking. The Prince was slightly shorter than him, but much burlier, thickset as opposed to Dan's more wily, catlike form. Dan was still taller, though, and he reckoned he could take this Prince if it came to it.
"Unluckily for you, I refuse to give out private information until I've been wined and dined a bit." With that, Dan was moving again, too fast to track, until he was suddenly at Phil's other side and breathing directly into his ear. "Maybe someday, if you're lucky."
And then Dan was backing away again, retreating to the far edge of the rooftop. When the time came, he could jump across to the next building and be on his way - he doubted whether the Prince was agile enough to follow him, but well, he'd underestimated him before. He could be wrong again.
The chase came to a head, then, with the thief poised and ready to bounce away while Phil stood across from him, eyes narrowed and feet flat to the ground, solidly keeping him in place. The thief, however, wasn't acting as if his life was on the line here, not the way Phil had expected, and he was thrown completely out of his comfort zone by the thief lowering his gaze to stare up at Phil from under dark lashes.
Who blessed that man with long lashes? His eyes were heated, a molten brown that seared through Phil. His heart thumped hard in his chest, surprised and caught off guard.
He hardly had a chance to blink, and then, quite suddenly and frighteningly, the thief was behind Phil, his mouth and breath hot against the shell of Phil's ear.
Resolutely ignoring the sudden rough beat of his heart, Phil took a wild swing behind him, but Dan was gone, and before Phil knew it, he was stumbling backwards, having to catch himself on roof tiles as his childhood dagger skid down and clattered to the dark cobblestones below. Phil's body remained crouched low while the King of Thieves bounced about on the balls of his feet across the way from Phil.
The escape route for him was clear, the fight over and dealt with, and Phil knew he was at a loss.
Dan watched with bright eyes as the Prince swung for him helplessly, only serving to let his dagger fall down onto the cobbles below. Dan tutted slightly. "See, mistakes like that will only get you killed. Or lose your best weapons. I bet I could teach you so much more than your precious Royal Guard."
Phil's gaze never once wavered from the thief's, especially now that his final weapon was gone. Largely defenseless and with nothing left to fight with but his fists, Phil could only watch as his foe taunted him from far away, eyes narrowed darkly.
Phil grit his teeth at him, launching upwards so he was on his feet, but the thief didn't flinch again the way Phil wanted him to, and he was willing to bet it was because the King of Thieves had an escape route in mind. He always had an escape route in mind, and there was no doubt in Phil's mind that the thief would be able to move far faster than Phil ever could across these rooftops. It had been hard enough to catch up to him on his horse.
"I would never join you," Phil scoffed, tossing his head at the very idea of a thief teaching Phil anything. Still, the anger boiled hot inside of Phil's chest as he watched this thief, this petty criminal, this outlaw, taunt him and mock him, stance proud. “But I’ll always be willing to chase the “great” King of Thieves," Phil mocked, ignoring Dan's flirting and teasing altogether to answer a question he'd posed earlier. "Remember, I found you once, thief. I'll find you again."
Dan could tell the fight was over. The Prince wasn't going to chase him - not across the rooftops without his sword or his dagger, armourless and defenceless. Dan allowed himself a glimmer of pride, though he didn't let his guard down. After all, the Prince had made him stumble before.
"You're welcome to keep trying, Prince." Dan crossed his arms, cloak billowing behind him, the dagger still in his grip glinting dangerously. "If you dare. Maybe I'll even set up a little trail for you. Make no mistake, though - my comrades you've already caught were small fry. I am the true King around here."
The arrogance in Dan's tone was almost unbearable even to himself, but he wanted to challenge this Prince. He wanted him to keep chasing him. He wanted to see those deep blue eyes studying him again, trying to hold him in place.
Dan wasn't held very easily, though.
"Until next time." And then, just because he could, Dan gave a florid bow - a mockery of the action usually given to one of the Prince's station. The glint of the emerald was just visible inside his cloak, teasingly close but still out of reach.
"Mark my words, thief, I dare you to leave me a trail! I won't rest until I've got you behind bars!" Phil growled, lurching forward again as the thief bowed mockingly, revealing his recently acquired emerald to Phil once more, and then he was gone, leaping across the way to the next rooftop and bounding agilely across until he disappeared into the quickly setting sun.
With a loud, frustrated sigh, Phil turned his gaze up to the sky and cursed himself for letting the King of Thieves escape from his grasp.
He'd come so close. The man wouldn't get away from Phil again.
It took a good few minutes for Phil to get back down from the wall he'd scaled and collect his armor and sword, thankfully unbothered by the citizens of the city. Finding his prized dagger took quite a bit longer, as Phil was weighed down and too bulked up by his armor to move about the floor easily. Once that was done however, and all of Phil's belongings were tucked back upon him once more, he finally set off to get back home.
There was no point in looking for his men or their horses. They wouldn't have been dumb enough to go anywhere but back to the castle, probably having assumed the King of Thieves was long gone and Phil on his way back himself.
They weren't technically wrong. Phil had known before he'd scaled that wall that he had no chance of catching the thief on his own; at least not on the rooftops of the city he knew so well. Phil's thief - and the fact that Phil was beginning to think of the King of Thieves as his at all was not something he was going to dwell on for long, because obviously it was just because capturing the man had become something of a matter of pride for Phil and nothing more - knew the rooftops, small crawl spaces, and the underground of this city far better than Phil himself did.
But not for long.
Phil planned to learn. Phil planned to find any and every excuse possible to become just as good, better even, than the petty criminals his Guard faced, but more than that, Phil wanted to be better than his thief.
The King of Thieves. Well, they'd see just how long he remained the King at all around here.
**
Dan bounded away across the rooftops with a cackle that he was sure would float back to the Prince. All in all, Dan thought he'd come out pretty well from their first exchange. His dagger was still in his hand, the emerald tucked away inside his cloak, and he hadn't even needed to resort to one of his backup weapons. Meanwhile, the Prince had lost his horse, his sword, his armour, and his dagger, and still had to let Dan get away.
Needless to say, Dan was feeling pretty proud.
He scampered across the rooftops as naturally as anything, spending more time up here than he should probably admit to. Seeing the city from above was always something special, and Dan liked to sit at the edge of the rooftops with his feet hanging over the gutters, watching the people below him go about their daily lives.
Dan’s home was up on the rooftops, too, at least when he was staying in the capital.
He trotted across the giant roof of the library, his footsteps silent, his cloak a shadow flaring behind him, and leaped neatly across to the next building: the Royal Guardhouse.
The same Royal Guardhouse where Prince Philip had an office.
Dan bit back a little laugh as he swung himself under the chimney to the little nook he’d made for himself, proud that he’d never once been caught by said man here, just over his head. Inside were a couple of blankets and various stolen trinkets from his time in the city - it had been a couple of days since he’d returned to his desert cavern. As such, gold glinted from hidden corners as he settled himself in for the night.
The emerald Dan placed carefully beside his pillow, watching it with a thoughtful smile. Getting it had been more difficult than it should have been, but it also led to him actually speaking to Prince Philip for the first time. The Captain of the Royal Guard certainly lived up to his name, but Dan had still beaten him. He’d be gloating over that for a while.
He hummed happily to himself as he cooked up some broth over a small fire, finally safely back in his base for the night. In the morning, he'd get back to his cave with the emerald, and then set about making a trail for the Prince. Because Dan had plans for that Prince. No one challenged Dan and got away with it.
The fact still remained that the Prince had made him stumble. Plus, he'd chased Dan halfway across the city and all the way up onto a rooftop, which showed guts that Dan kind of admired. Dan was itching to see what the Prince could do on safe ground in his comfort zone - just how much of a challenge would fighting him be? Would he prove a match for Dan?
Not that Dan was afraid of losing. He just wanted a challenge, and Prince Philip was the first interesting opponent Dan had met in years. Or possibly ever, if things carried on the way they'd started.
Of course, Dan was only interested in the Prince because of his skill at capturing criminals. It would be interesting to have a challenge for once. That was all. It had nothing to do with the way Prince Philip’s eyes had shone a pretty, stormy blue in the moonlight, or the way he looked like a knight out of a history book in his armour and great broadsword.
No. Dan was just interested in having a challenge.
So Dan set about making a trail for the Prince. He stepped up his thieving activities over the next several weeks, suddenly stealing more frequently and brazenly, targeting some of the richest families in Morellia. The capital city was wracked with fear of this King of Thieves who would show up anywhere at any time, rob the good citizens of their prized possessions, and then disappear into the night again with his black cloak flaring. Dan was loving every minute of it.
Even if he did get cocky. He needed to grab Prince Philip's attention, after all.
