My best friend's short story collection just came out!! (It's here on Goodreads).

Ancient British myths reimagined According to stories, we share our world with a menagerie of mysterious creatures. What happens when those creatures appear in the modern world? Do fairies still like traditional offerings of herbs and spices? Do unicorns still live in forests? Do sea serpents still yearn to eat innocent maidens? This collection of stories brings myths from across the UK to a modern world with offices, cities and fast food restaurants. The consequences are often comedic, sometimes horrific and always surprising.

I haven't written my proper goodreads review for it yet (it's on the agenda) but as a huge queer fairytale fan I loved it!

The style is just delightfully cosy and funny compared to anything I could ever come up with. I also really like that at the end she talks about all of the original versions of the myths, so if you're interested in local folklore from the UK it's also great for that.

Give it a go if you fancy reading about Jack Frost falling in love with the Green Man, goblins running amok in the office printer, ghost dogs and more!

We gotta accept the Scooby Doo movies went downhill after Cyberchase cause some 'genius' really went and said let's NOT have them face off against the supernatural anymore.

So in my Monster Mysteries reboot everything after cyber chase is being 'rewritten' by me.

Legend of the Vampire: Keep Hex Girls and Vampires just let them be actual vampires Daphne (professionally trained vampire slayer) fights. Hell it could be her first vampire kill as a slayer.

Monster of Mexico: I don't remember much of this but I am not a fan of the Chupacabra design and completely redid it based off its various descriptions online. And also that little Chihuahua is cute but she needs to Back Off.

The Loch Ness Monster: Completely new plot, humans steal Nessie's baby and while Fred, Velma, and Daphne try to solve this mystery and not get eaten, Scooby and Shaggy befriend Nessie Jr.

On April 23rd 2001, Jan Sundberg, an explorer specialising in unusual species, arrived at Loch Ness in a bid to trap the legendary monster.

Sundberg believed that Nessie was “a large type of eel” and could be found using sonar technology and trapped in a net, just like a regular eel. He put together a team which arrived in Scotland with the latest high tech equipment, hoping to prove the monster’s existence with a DNA sample. It was known as Operation Cleansweep.

The mission proved to be unsuccessful and Sundberg left the loch disappointed, he would later head to seek out  Ireland’s very own version of the Loch Ness monster on Lough Ree. 

Although recorded sightings of a monster in the loch stretch back to the days of St Columba, the public obsession with Nessie really began with a sighting in 1933 by the late John and Donaldina Mackay.

Ever since thousands of would be monster hunters have flocked to the loch in the hope of finding evidence of Nessie and there have been hundreds of accounts of those claiming to have seen the beast in the waters of the loch.
