it feels like a lot of people have given up on fully connecting ISWM/Engie Mark to the wider lore (aka WKM) since IRL Mark straight up told us he wasn't Actor.

but not only am i a stubborn son of a bitch, but yknow what Mark also said?

"Engineer Mark isn't Actor Mark, but Actor Mark just might be Engineer Mark."

so hear me out, y'all.

preamble; if you saw this in a yt comment section, no you didn't. (that was also me i didnt steal this i prommy-)

i have this entirely insane theory about iswm that Engineer Mark is actually Damien, but only sometimes.

the most obvious places i can spot him is in the abandoned ship with the candles ("captain needs their sleep" and whatnot), as Old Mark (specifically in the empty diner), and most definitely as the "Mark" we see as part of the finale, the one who realizes he was wrong.

Actor is allergic to admitting fault so I Don't Believe That's Him.

this explains the thematic focus on sleep and rest in these scenes, things told to Damien and told to US by DARK several times.

speaking of Dark, it explains why he isn't there. we DO however see the suspiciously Darkiplier-esqe Ms. Whitacre, which it isn't controversial to say atp is CLEARLY Celine.

that is, until the universe does its final kablooey and Dark as we know him, Damien attributes and all, comes to take the warp-crystal.

and besides, think about it.

given Actor's whole goal in all this, as laid out in the Damien Project, do you REALLY think he would write a story in which all problems arise from HIS OWN NEGLIGENCE? NO!

that would make him a villain, and all he ever wants is to be portrayed as the hero, literally for eternity!

but you know what i think he would do? set up a farce for the most troublesome of his "co-stars".

you, the viewer, want genuine choices? you want to have some real control over the story? some responsibility? FINE.

everyone looks to you, but under your leadership everything goes wrong, no matter what. you don't know why, but you're actively villinized and the harder you try to go back and fix things, achieve an "ending" on your own, the more people HATE you. the more the thought that maybe there IS something wrong with you specifically will stick in your mind as a possibility.

all these options, but none of them "right", creating MORE suffering instead of fixing it just to find that ever elusive end.

damien wants control of the narrative? he wants his old friend, you, the District Attorney to be released from his eternal story and given back to him? FINE.

here's his role back in earnest, given the possibility to engage and choose instead of intrude and twist like usual.

(yes, i do think Damien/Engineer is genuinely going down his own hopeless path while we find our own. in one of the descriptions leading to the final "Hold On/Let Go" confrontation, it says "you're not the only one making choices. you're not alone, you never were".)

he is allowed to fight for the safety of others, side by side with his closest companion, just as they did when they were alive.

BUT, the twist is Damien becomes a genuine villain. in his quest to do the altruistic thing and help at all cost, he is personally responsible for the death of LITERALLY EVERYONE EVER.

this is a personal hell for someone like Damien, as seen from WKM, all he ever seemed to want was help others and guide them towards peace.

for his actions/leadership to fail so unthinkably catastrophically, seems like the exact hell a bitter Actor would want to subject his "old friend" to for meddling. :/

Actor sets the stage for a theatrical punishment game. Mayor and Attorney, together again, taking an impossibly long stay in a personally crafted hell for the horrendous crime of ever even thinking they'd be worthy of ✨️staring roles✨️.

Actor turns you two against each other, and once Damien is brough down to the depths of despair and you have finally learned that true responsibility can lead to catastrophic, painful results, we're brought back to our proper places.

you go to a proper ending, with the Engineer role now being played by Actor once and for all, and Damien once again becomes part of Darkiplier, pocketing the warp-crystal to plant on the box in Heist.

Engineer isn't Actor, it's a role he plays when it suits him and his goals, to make his enemies suffer. he's willing to be Damien's understudy, if only for this purpose.

but at the end of the journey, Actor becomes Engineer to take in the fruits of his labor. ..and maybe invite you to a Heist while he's at it.

it's pretty interesting how marvin's defining characteristics in pop culture are the blowing up earth to see venus motivation and 'where's the kaboom' "catchphrase", both things that come from and occur only once in his very penultimate appearance of the golden age era. but in addition to that, are more associated with his initial green/red design, not the gold/green palette actually used for those final two shorts.

what Does also contain that green/red design is duck dodgers and the 24th 1/2 century, one of the two marvin shorts included in the bugs bunny/road runner compilation movie, which also named him and uses a new illustration with the "classic" palette, and I'm guessing that's what embedded those elements into newer generations' public perception and later marketing. I dunno I just think seeing what factors are picked up most by pop culture surrounding classic media is neat!!

5:30 PM  —  SEPTEMBER 12, 2022 the red and green club @ the son’s residences

the doorbell rings with the first guests of the night. jiyeon slams her drawer shut, locks it, then puts the key in her bedside table. she opens the front door and frowns at what she sees. "minjun," she greets sourly, "and the detective's kid. please, come in." 

having brought ( brainchild ) along without telling anyone, minjun motions for his uninvited guest to go in first. before minjun can take his first step past the threshold, jiyeon grabs his arm. 

"what do you think you're doing?" 

minjun frees his arm from her grasp. "whatever i want," he says, "now that jisoo's gone. place looks great, jiyeon. and look." minjun brandishes a bottle of wine from the convenience store, the same brand found in room 308 after the fire, "we brought wine."

6 PM

some time before dinner, while everyone's standing around, chatting, and waiting for mina to arrive, yua borrows miyoung's phone to make a call. she returns the phone minutes later.

"miyoung," jiyeon calls a few minutes later, waving her over, a glass of wine in hand and a gracious smile on her face.

miyoung approaches jiyeon and yua, who had been engrossed in conversation moments before.

"i have something to show you," jiyeon says. she walks ahead of yua and miyoung. yua curls her arm around miyoung's and clutches her wrist in a death grip. the three of them disappear up the stairs. jiyeon makes her way to jisoo's room, locking the door behind them.

"you were with my brother while he was with mina," jiyeon says,

"wait, jiyeon, what—"

"i found his fucking burner phone here in his room. yua saw the texts in your phone. you're lucky we're the ones who found those messages, miyoung.

"you know how bad she's going to look if she knows," jiyeon says. looking at the floor, miyoung nods. "does she know?"

"no," miyoung answers, "jisoo said she didn't."

jiyeon walks closer to miyoung, seeming to tower over her. "you better fucking make sure she doesn't find out," jiyeon points a finger at her. she pokes miyoung’s chest as if to punctuate her sentence, with so much force that miyoung finds herself out of breath after jiyeon leaves the room.

"what the fuck, miyoung?" yua whispers harshly, following in jiyeon's trail.

7 PM

the dinner goes on without incident, with wine glasses clinked jovially and friendly conversations had. after dinner, with everyone scattered around the house, drinks in hand, jiyeon and mina are never seen far apart.

8:30 PM

some time after dinner, while everyone talks to everyone else, siyeon sits by herself near the exit to the balcony. a few moments later, she sees mingze come in, appearing like he's wiping tears from his eyes. siyeon decides to leave him alone. a few moments after, ( brainchild ) walks in through the same entrance looking perfectly fine. 

siyeon goes up to ( brainchild ) and asks if they know why mingze seemed upset. "i don't know," ( brainchild ) shrugs, "he said there was something my dad should know, but he didn't tell me anything, then he left." siyeon eyes him, her expression inscrutable.  quickly, the two of them become engrossed in a comfortable conversation. after some time, siyeon leads them back out into the balcony, where they sit on a bench, away from earshot and prying eyes, and continue their conversation. siyeon wastes no time, talking quickly,

"there is something i think your dad should know."

"what?"

"i'll tell you, but you have to promise this won't trace back to me. i won't admit to telling you anything. i won't come in to change my statement or anything. you have to say you found out some other way."

( brainchild ) nods. siyeon hesitates, but she goes on to tell ( brainchild ) that on the night of jisoo's birthday at his home, on june 7, 2022, he saw jisoo with mingze's girlfriend, miyoung, outside the house while the party was ongoing. siyeon claims that she ran away as soon as she saw a glimpse of jisoo and miyoung, with their hips and lips locked by a bush in a dark corner, and that she didn't tell anyone what she saw.

"but there's something else," siyeon looks around, as if checking to see that nobody can see them, "mingze saw them too. he didn't see me but i saw him. we were looking at the same thing. he was still there when i left. i know he didn't put that in his statement. if it's a... murder, like the detective thinks, it gives him motive, doesn't it?" after making ( brainchild ) promise one more time that they won't tell anyone where they learned this information, and after making them promise to tell their father, siyeon leaves, looking around consciously to ensure that no one saw her talking to the detective's kid.

9 PM

lively music plays while everyone nurses drinks and conversations. the cheery chatter is interrupted by muffled shouting from the veranda.

"what aren't you telling me? we don't keep secrets from each other, yua. what the hell?" nika says, frustrated. "i want to go home now. you're taking me home now."

yua tries to hold nika's arm, but nika jerks it away. "let's just leave when everyone else does."

"whatever. you can do what you want. i'm going," nika walks away, thinking of who to call to pick her up, as yua had driven them to the son's house.

yua sighs and walks back inside.

"hey, have you seen mingze?" minjun asks her as soon as she steps in, "i was going to ask him something..."

"he left fifteen minute ago." yua sighs in exasperation, pushing minjun out of her way, "why did you bring the detective's kid here, minjun? you have no idea the danger you put us all in. as always, you're ten steps behind."

"huh? what are you talking about?" minjun asks, but his words fall on deaf ears as yua walks away.

10:30 PM

after everyone has left, jiyeon lays in jisoo's bed. she stares at her phone, yoo minhyuk's contact name in bright white letters. her thumb hesitates over the call button. after a moment, she puts her phone away. 

a while later, she sends a text. (the following are text messages between jiyeon and minhyuk.)

son jiyeon: the whole club was here. are you sure you don't want to join? i could really use your help now. yoo minhyuk: i'll help but i'm not a part of it. no drinking everyone’s blood out of a goblet for me, thanks. son jiyeon: we don’t do that. yoo minhyuk: i’ve heard otherwise. son jiyeon: you are a part of this. you have been since the second you were born. you can keep denying that but you know it's true. yoo minhyuk: maybe. can i help you with something? son jiyeon: nothing for now. the less you know the better. yoo minhyuk: the less i know the better.

more rambling thoughts about wuthering heights now that i've finished my re-read

1 wuthering heights is basically the looney tunes if the looney tunes were goth. 90% of the novel is people arguing, dying, and running around threatening to kill each other, and often all three of those at once.

2 love how it's filled with dark humor. "he's such a cobweb, a pinch would annihilate him" is such a camp thing to say about the terminally ill child you abhor and who you spend weeks trying to set up on dates with your dead lover's child so you can steal her property when your son finally dies. heathcliff lecturing his son on Seduction 101 right in front of cathy 2.0, trying ridiculously to play cupid and compel them to fall in love with each other before giving up and just kidnapping her instead... surely he's the most insane brontë man?

3 i can't remember what i had for dinner last night but nelly dean can remember what the weather was like on any given friday twenty years ago (love her and her snarky comments)

4 love how after nelly finishes telling the story to lockwood she's like "any way. so you know cathy 2.0 is single right ;)))" and then cathy 2.0 shows zero interest in him. so then he's like "oh i just remembered i have somewhere to be :/" then fucks off to london for nearly a year then when he comes back nelly is like "nvm as it turns out cathy and hareton are actually soulmates lol who knew! gee, it's a good thing she didn't like you!" and he's just silently suffering. emily was just fucking around here. hindley was the only linton/earnshaw/heathcliff who was wild enough to marry someone who didn't share either his gene pool or his neighborhood.

5 i imagine joseph to look like smeagol from the lotr films but taller

7 this opinion list is just turning out to be a list of the most insane heathcliff moments but truly the novel should've just been called "heathcliff"

8 heathcliff's weird paternal feelings for hareton, saving hareton's life, him saying he would truly love him if only he wasn't hindley's child, basically giving hareton his blessing to love cathy 2.0 toward the end... so oddly endearing

9 heathcliff walking out just before the "i am heathcliff" part of her speech. why WHY

10 hindley protecting isabella from heathcliff before she flees was nice and i wish we saw more of their dynamic around the heights. honestly aside from the child neglect (which is par for the course in wuthering heights) hindley is a pretty sympathetic character; his rivalry with heathcliff was fueled by both sides and truly the fault of their father for pitting them against each other by letting heathcliff usurp hindley's place of favoritism as a boy. hindley's gambling and drinking, his general dissipation and failure to secure his son's future, are all tragic.

11 i think hindley/edgar/heathcliff are all interesting foils for each other; they each lose the women they love and are left to be single fathers, and each responds to the task totally differently. if we include mr. earnshaw, all the fathers in the story essentially fail their children after all the mothers die. hindley and heathcliff have a special parallel through their lifelong brotherly competition, the women they love both dying in childbirth, and in their own deaths. hindley slowly kills himself while ignoring everyone around him; heathcliff also kills himself, but only after trying to systematically ruin the lives of everyone around him. they also say that they want to kill each other but fail when they try; heathcliff nearly kills hindley but ends up saving his life at the last minute.

12 heathcliff jr. is so terrified of heathcliff sr. and so traumatized and petrified by fear and he doesn't deserve the hate he gets for being annoying. he's been sheltered his whole life, his mother just died, he was sent to his uncle/cousin only to be immediately torn away from them to be abused by a stranger who treats him horribly, he's terminally ill, he's still a kid, he's threatened into marrying someone he barely knows, etc.

13 if any of you have seen the british comedy show "the young ones" that's literally hindley's household in wuthering heights when joseph/hareton/hindley/heathcliff/isabella all live together. the filth, the slop for dinner, the petty games, the violence, the fierce hatred yet weird loyalty to each other, etc.

14 i really wonder how cathy would have reacted to heathcliff's treatment of everyone else if only she had known the full details (ie his harsh abuse of isabella, his son, cathy 2.0, etc.)

15 heights was my first brontë novel but i think i like jane eyre and tenant better now that i've read them all back to back! next on the list is likely agnes gray. anne, my underrated queen!

Big fckn redesigns here. Well mostly Charlie but Vaggie somewhat too 🥰🥰

Blue fits Charlie soooo much and I cease to see that many redesigns with this color. I still want red to be used in most of their designs because well. They are in hell, but not too present so to make way for other unique colors. Charlie has several physical traits from her parents but also she has some details in her clothes that match with them. When I uhh, introduce their designs you'll see lmao. I also tried to make her have a more roundish design, I jst LOVE those typ of designs omg. I just want the characters with not too many sharp corners pls Viv bro... 😔 oh yeah she's mixed cuz her mom's are darker in their redesigns. Alot of their genetics went down to Charlie so she doesn't look like an exact copy of Lucifer, I kind of hate that trend with hh and hb characters, like did the moxxies dad give birth to him bro 😭 also I kept her bow because it looks so cute and silly on her it just fits, I wish they made it bigger in her show design because it would fit her silliness so much. She has a cape with stars because morningSTAR smh why didnt they do something fun with that, missed potential but whatevs yknow I still love og designs no matter what anyone sayss. Did you know I love Charlie, I could ramble for days. I think I love Charlie guys. Maybe jst a hunch idk... also... s-snake fangs.. jeepers anddd..... snake tongue.... shiver me timberz

The wife ever. I had animation in mind more when I designed her, not like in a "How easy or hard would this be to animate" way. But I like to imagine when she's shocked her hair kind of fluffs out plus her actual fluff, when she's mad her bow turns into kind of horns and then her jacket expands like wings. Gave her a more hotel like outfit, she likes to work for fun (ew). Her socks are socks but she has some fluff under them she just tries to cover it up because she hates herself 🤪 (she doesn't hate her bigger body she actually feels much more comfortable chubby than when she was skinny with Adam. She was burdened with the weight of Adam's image of women... In this sorta rewrite she gained weight when she goes to the hotel because she's more happy. I'm dying I love chub Vaggie so much guys please) headcanon: she kind of likes fashion, it's like a fun hobby of hers to stitch together clothing and go out and buy clothes she'll never wear. She taught Charlie how to stitch and she SUCKS so you can jst see it on Charlie's pants.

Second outfits! Charlie's hotel uniform for. Well. Hotel stuff. She usually only wears it when new people come to the hotel, which.... isn't often, if at all. She still likes to keep it just in case. Also she goes really cartoonish when it happens, she does the looney tunes run and changes into her clothes in like 2 seconds. Can you see my vision? 😭😭

Vaggie's is in her armor. She has several pairs of armor lying around in the hotel in completely hidden spots. It's kind of surprising uhh. Yeah she wears it alot more than Charlie wears her alt uniform but still rare to find her in it. I don't get the whole thing with the exterminators and them not being able to fight according to Carmilla. Which is kinda stupid, I'm not gonna lie. So, instead of that, Vaggie has just let her guard down and has gotten much more comfortable in her surroundings so she feels like she doesn't need to fight anymore, she's just gotten rusty 's what I'm sayin. I have no idea how to draw armor. You can tell...

Soooooo I have thoughts….

-She’d definitely be a little more cocky in this au. Not as cocky as Makuu or Kiburi, but she wouldn’t be above rubbing stuff in animals’ faces

-Her challenging Pua to a mashindano would be so funny tho. It starts off so civilized and then it’s Ucheshi pulling a Looney Tunes and tricking Pua into agreeing to fight her

-Ucheshi would have waaaay too much fun battling Pua. She treats it as if it were a game

-Like my in-universe hc for her, she’s not a villain by any means. I like to imagine her as a neutral character if anything; an unbiased participant if you will. She respects the circle of life most of the time but she’ll let her crocs take over all the watering holes

-Like in the Savannah Summit, a lot of the animals would assume she’s here to cause trouble when in actuality, she’s pretty chill

-No but her in that episode would be so funny cuz Kion and Simba are talking about her and she just casually butts in like

-That being said, he still challenges her to a mashindano and loses, which is admittedly still very hard on her

-Instead of Kiburi trying to hurt her like he does with Makuu, he repeatedly tries to get her to become evil

-Hodari would immediately become a part of the float after singing his song. If he goes to Kiburi’s float, it’s probably to try and get the siblings to reunite and make her proud of him

There's a trailer for a game called Rubber Hose Rampage that traces over public domain animation…there's a part in the trailer where they fight a pig but I can't imagine where the footage is from (or if the pig is Porky, or otherwise) and since it's from a Looney Tune I was hoping you'd know

BUT YEAH! i… actually have no idea! i feel like it has to be drawn over because i can’t think of a single Porky cartoon or even Generic Pig Cartoon that has Porky or Generic Pig wearing an aviator’s hat in that style. my first instinct was to say it’s from Pigs in a Polka—it definitely looks like a pig that was drawn by the Freleng unit, particularly with the semi circle snout and triangle ears… i don’t recall Porky having his ears showing through his cap in Dough for the Dodo since he didn’t in Porky in Wackyland. it would also be easier to see if the animation isn’t the way it was LOL. much respect that he’s evidently dropping SpongeBob jellyfish

i can’t believe i don’t recognize all of the enemies in this. i’ve failed as a historian.. but the queen bee is the bee from The Moth Who Came to Dinner/Eatin’ on the Cuff, the flower is from Flowers for Madame, the chicken is from Swing You Sinners… the cow reminds me of Molly Moo Cow but i’ve only seen one of those shorts so i can’t really confirm. the lizard is the strip dancing lizard from Cross Country Detours.. that’s about where my knowledge ends, but i think that tiger is from a Bosko cartoon (Congo Jazz maybe??). OH and Betty Boop of course. this is truly fascinating and decidedly Not public domain!

Did a new f/o just drop? Yeah.. because sometimes my brain decides to focus on a character once again that I haven’t been obsessed with like, over 10 years or whatever.

Anyway, a Looney Tunes OC has also dropped, including some info on him since I rewatched TLTS and started playing Multiversus here and there.

I rushed this post (and all these doodles basically) because uh there’s a lot of other posts in my drafts that require reference sheets,,

but I’ve been procrastinating (aching) a lot more lately.

His name is Casimir and he’s a Prince. Well, ex-Prince (and ex-general) of Mars.

And becasue I am not immune to silly little guys, Casimir’s voice claim is Ben Balmaceda as Kaveh. I love Kaveh so much,, y’all have no idea it drives me insane,, Genshin really do be saving me when it comes to OC voice claims too lmao

Anyway,,

He was adopted by the Queen when he was younger, but once he reached his early-mid teens he pretty much ran away and has been living on Earth ever since.

Casimir does not get along with her anymore (and even disowned her as a parent) which is entirely understandable.

All the Queen worried about was using him to benefit her status as leader, and she would excessively punish Casimir for making the smallest of mistakes, essentially blaming him for making her look horrible in front of the entirety of Mars and beyond.

Misc. Info

He changed his name to Casimir later on, but his designated name that was given to him by the Queen is Prince B-3 in Martian. The B stands for Beta, and the 3 stands for his role in the empire’s hierarchy. His Martian name translates to Prince Phe’tulente, a play on the word petulant, and is also pronounced as such.

Unfortunately, his living situation with the Queen resulted in him developing C-PTSD. I originally added this to his character to cope with my own, but lo behold, it became a part of him too. His Looney Tunes Show variation goes into more depth about how it impacts him, though.
