i never liked soulmates. i think it feels cheap, to some degree, if there is someone or something out there that picked you out and declared, “this is the one. there is only Them.” - i don’t want to love if it’s pre- determined or foretold or in any way guaranteed. i want a mystery. i want to be able to hope. i want to look at you and say, “i am choosing this on my own. i am the one who decides to love on purpose, and nobody told me to love you, and nobody taught me how, and that is the sublimity of it: i love you because we are not destined. i love the choice of you.”

no hate to canonically soulmate couples, some of my favourite fictional couples are, but honestly i love the idea that you find someone and care about them and decide to love them and make it work much more romantic then being 'destined' to be with 'the one'

also i wrote this poem down years ago and i cannot find it anywhere online if anyone knows the author please tell me!

You're at the flats.

People haven't been answering when you knock. 1A, 2B, 3C. All of them, no responses.

You're at the last door on the 4th floor and have to take a second to admire your persistence, your hand already on the knocker, thumping once, twice.

No answer.

Something urges you to not step away. Rustling, then movement. Distant, then suddenly close. One latch goes, then another, until the door opens up, and you are face to face with a man that towers gently over you.

"Hello?" His voice is uncertain, his head flinching away from the strong light of the sun, is brown hair reflecting gold back to your eyes. He has glasses high on his nose, thick lenses and slim rims peering out at you from the crack in the door.

He seems tired, but greets you with a smile regardless.

"Oh! Hello." His words rush out of his mouth, and despite his expression, it feels like something is bothering him.

He doesn't have to worry. You'll make this quick.

"Need your house cleaned, sir? "Oh." His tone shifts, a squeak of surprise as he quickly scans the space behind him, cringing a little as he turns back to face you. "Eve! There's someone..." A few more dull thuds and Glasses backs away from the door as it swings open much wider.

The man that steps out is perhaps a good foot shorter, and his eyes dark like he were glaring down at you. His smile contrasts this, his hand sticking out in greeting. He has a button up on, his tie undone as though he just stepped inside the house. You take his hand in yours. "Good evening. Sorry about Sonny, he's just a little shy. What was it you needed?" Sonny seems to have slipped away in the time you weren't paying him attention. You repeat your question. Eve pretends to think about it.

"Sure." He smiles at how your shoulders visibly relax. "I have coffee on. You can start in the living room."

Eve is the brains of the relationship, he's outgoing and charismatic, but that really hides his ego and his neurotic, manipulative tendencies. He doesn't smile often when he's not around Sonny, but he has a joyful disposition almost, and tries to be pleasant when around strangers.

Sonny is quiet, and really invested in his own interests. Eve, his art, and learning to better that craft and his relationship. He is generally a very happy looking guy, but is prone to nervousness or anxiety when Eve isn't around.

He also likes fishing, that's why they can also be found at the campgrounds.

Most PCs interest Eve. The meek, cooperative ones. Rowdy ones - with their little attitudes and need to be put into their place. Masochists that know how to take pain … a like minded sadist would be quite fun to play with as well.

Sonny is intrigued by Promiscuity/Exhibitionism. He's not very sexually outgoing himself so he'd be interested in finding a muse that is... Someone who could work him up to the things he'd like to try. He does a lot of watching on his own, but when him and Eve are together they have very district roles. Eve dictates and Sonny performs. 

Eve is generally pretty well known for being pleasant and/or generally helpful. Sonny is less well known in town, and doesn't really like leaving the house. He tends to be pressured outside by Eve, who reassures him that he'll have fun if he just relaxes.

Overall, PC’s level of devotion to their relationship can make it blossom in new ways,

or crash and burn.

Kid's room was turned into a hobby room

With all their kids moved out, Calvin and Jane decided, to transform the children's room into a place, where they could indulge in their artistic hobbies or just sit by the window and read a book.

Five Newer Rom-Comsthat Hit like the Classics

On a cozy night in, my besties and I are 27 Dresses, Miss Congeniality, and 13 Going on 30 people.And with a certain holiday just around the corner, I'm ready for Love, Actually. But sometimes I like to branch out of my Bewitchd, Coyote Ugly, 10 Things I Hate About You cave and try something released after, like, 2004.

Here are some newer... sort of... Rom Coms that hit the same spot:

1. To All the boys I've Loved Before, 1, 2, and 3 I am WEAK for Noah Centineo, alright? I fell for Peter Kavinsky right along with Lara Jean. Also, Lara Jean is an absolute Pink Academia icon with her love of romantic literature, and a story that develops towards whether to choose a university for herself or for love. Not to mention, I want, like, her entire wardrobe.

2. Always Be My Maybe A perfect "will they? won't they?" combined with "ships in the night" and Keanu Reeves is there. I loved Ali Wong as Bertie in Tuca and Bertie- which is one of the shows I reccomend to everyone!- so I had to check this out. I wasn't disappointed. It is really sweet movie that made me smile.

3. Isn't it Romantic? Its kind of an anti-romcom that hits all the beats of the classics in both a send-up and a really sweet homage to the genre. I had so much fun with this one, and I would take a week in Fantasy RomCom Land!

4. Crazy Rich Asians Getting it out of the way first, I adored the books and I don't think the film is a good adaptation. BUT I think it is a lovely movie as a standalone, full of fun, scandalous levels of drama, and the same amount of OTT glitz and glam as the book.

5. The Lovebirds The Lovebirds is truly hilarious. Leilani and Jibran get themselves entangled in a murder mystery plot and discover a lot about thmselves and their relationship along the way. I genuinely laughed a lot and thought that Leilani and Jibran had a believable relationship, even in a totally unbelievable plot.

Me avoiding my story like the plague. It’s wild because the story plays out so clear in my head but I just don’t have the bandwidth to open that save and do all the things that

requires of me. Yet, I literally hear their conversations in my head all the time. I think as much as we all like to say we do it just because we love it. It’s just not worth all the effort for very little gains. Gameplay is easy and simple. At least it is for me. I also don’t take it as personal like I do my story. I mean don’t get me wrong I like these little goofy pixels but

my OC’s are real to me.

They live in my head all day every day.
