not to be That Guy but
every so often I just search "Separate Ways" on Twitter to see general reactions to it and
overall, people are freaking out over the fact that it's not only better than but also longer than RE3make. there's also a bunch of pissed off fanboys crying about how they have to pay $10 for something that "was free when it came out originally," not realizing that Separate Ways very much was not free when it came out originally; it was $50.00 because you had to rebuy THE ENTIRE GAME on PS2.
and if you didn't have a PS2, you had to buy that, too. so, for some people, Separate Ways was actually hundreds of dollars when it came out originally. jackasses.
and then there's another certain subset of people whose reactions are just causing me to

Saying goodbye to a long-distance loved one tomorrow and good GOD, after months together, I cannot even imagine the pain of saying goodbye between Grace and Rocky when they were going their separate ways with the taumoeba. This shit hurts even knowing I'll see them again one day, I can't imagine what either of them were feeling thinking they would never see each other again.

How Does it Feel to Read Classic Sci-Fi?
Orson Scott Card: Two of the most interesting books you’ll ever read if you’re willing to look past a handful of things. And then you find the planet of Chinese people who worship having debilitating OCD. And the Mormonism. And the fact that the author is wildly homophobic and ought to read his own books.
Robert Heinlein (or at least the Wikipedia Summaries): I guess that’s a neat concept—oh, it’s a sex thing. Um. Gotcha.
Ray Bradbury: Man, I gotta read this thing for class huh. Well here’s hoping it’s good! *three hours later* oh. that’s why he’s famous. this will stick with me forever and I will never look at the phrase ‘soft rain’ the same again. christ. And then repeat 3x.
Isaac Asimov: Wow, this is such an interesting concept! I wonder how the exploration of it will influence the plot! Wait, hey, are you going to add any characters? Any of em? No like, with character traits other than ‘robot psychologist’ and ‘autistic’ and ‘woman’? None of em? No, ‘detective’ isn’t a character trait. Those are all just facts. Aaaand now I’m bored.
Ursula K. Le Guin: Hah, get a load of this guy! He’s never heard of nonbinary people before. Lol, what a riot; how dumb do you have to be to comprehend that these people aren’t men *or* women actually? Oh, wait, what’s happening. Oh shit, it was about society and love and learning to understand each other? And now I’m crying? And perhaps a better human being for it??
Andy Weir: Alright, this guy’s a really good writer. Funny, creative, knows so much engineering stuff…ooh, a new book! …I guess he can’t write women. Well, he wouldn’t be the first sci-fi writer…ooh another new book! And it’s more engineering problem solving and—wow. It’s not just women he can’t write. Please stop letting your characters talk to each other.
Lois Lowry: Oh, I remember this being fun when I was a kid! Wouldn’t it be fucked up to not see color? …upon reread, it would be fucked up to have your humanity stripped away, replaced with a tepid, beige ‘happiness’ for all time. Yeah.
Tamsyn Muir (let me have this ok): Haha, “lesbian necromancers in space” sounds fun. Lemme read this. Oh wow, yeah, this is right up my alley. OH GOD WHAT. NO. FUCK. OH SHIT WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING AND WHY IS IT REFERENCING THE BOOK OF RUTH AND HOMESTUCK BACK TO BACK!!! AHHHHHHHHH!! Now give me more please.

Could astrophage potentially be used as a coolant for nuclear reactors? I'm not a nuclear physicist, but I think it could?
I mean, in theory, yes. If you tried hard enough. But in practice it's unwise. Astrophage is quite volatile when you get down to it, and the chances of a big explosion when you have that much of it around are likely higher than the average nuclear engineer would want, especially seeing as if the astrophage does explode, it would ionize everything around it and cover a large area in radioactive material.

I don’t think i ever posted any of these and I am FURIOUS at myself!! I no longer have the HD files, these were all screenshotted off of my IG where they were cross posted. I believe I made these and posted them to a PHM server but never actually posted them here, which is unfortunate because I left the server a looooong time ago.
the cowboy art was for a weird crack AU either I or a collective in the server came up with. I mainly just wanted to draw rocky and Ryland in cowboy attire. There WAS an actual story, but i’ve long since forgotten it.

we're now maybe two or three sessions from fighting an ancient white dragon who's also wielding a powerful fire orb on top of his usual abilities. as The Cleric™ i am feeling a growing sense of anticipation and nervousness, like preparing to sit for an exam held at gunpoint

The urge to create Project Hail Mary fanfics where Ryland Grace just infodumps to Rocky about my hyperfixations. I want to SO BAD but I think the demographic for PHM fans who want to hear about Mario Kart Wii speed running is pretty small.

It’s such a wonderful narrative reason for forced intimacy if your species has a deeply-ingrained need for other people to watch them sleep.
Unfortunately, in project Hail Mary, it is wasted on a rock monster who lives at a temperature that can never be compatible with human sexual organs

Me, designing ships for Rook's campaign: Now, I know Val's ship doesn't need a ballista that shoots a mega-eldritch blast beam, but...
It's cool as fuck, okay???
[id under the cut]
Image Description: A screenshot taken from a digital Dungeons & Dragons stat block. The text is white against a dark background. It reads:
Eldritch Bolt (4 / day).
Ranged Weapon Attack:+9, Range 150/480ft., One target
Hit: 55 (10d10) force damage
If Captain Valris is manning the ballista, they can choose to replace the standard Ballista attack with a powerful Eldritch Bolt. In order to use an Eldritch Bolt attack, Val must succeed on a DC 13 Arcana check. On a failure, the use of Eldritch Bolt is expended, but the shot is not fired.
If the ship has no uses of Eldritch Bolt remaining, Val can expend one of their warlock spell slots in order to make an additional Eldritch Bolt attack.
