As promised, here's a rant about start of a new obsession because i am OBSESSED.
Let me just start with the fact that I am NOT a Levi fan but this fanfic has me giggling over him. As always, I felt like the characterization of everyone in the story was absolutely perfect. I do have to say that Y/N definitely gave me second hand embarrassment because WHAT ARE YOU RUNNING AWAY FOR???????? But I love her and her crazy personality anyways.
Also let's get some justice for Y/N because why is everyone always dragging her by her hair.
But also she is DELUSIONALLLL!! I find the fantasy she created inside of her head of her OWN LIFE so funny. The way she made Shadis the home wrecker? Hilarious, but how does this make sense in her head? Like she actually believes it because she gets visibly jealous 😭😭
I think the part that i'm most curious about is Y/N's homelife because we've been seeing some hints about it not being the best(I mean she literally ran away to the survey corps without telling her parents) and I actually thrive on angst so im looking forward to learning about it(even if it's completely crack and not angsty at all)
And a song connection I made for some reason was "Daylight" by Taylor Swift(another taylor swift connection? yes.) I feel like this one is a bit of a stretch since nothing that distinctly connects them has happened yet but idk it just reminded me of the fic for whatever reason
start of a new obsession masterlist here
let’s hold hands and run off together ilysmmmm
it’s the way you’re not even a levi girly but read the 60k + worded fic just for an analysis 😭 let me kiss your cheeks right neeeoowww 😡
y/n giving you second hand embarrassment is so real. when i tell you this fic was initially meant to be crack, i was not joking 💀 she is WILD. an exaggerated version of y/n from the megumi fic (liar, liar). she has nothing to lose in that universe, girlypop secured her place with her skill and now they can’t get rid of her 😭
she actually secretly loves shadis, but she won’t say it. he homewrecked her relationship with levi, so that’s great lmao. AND SHE RAN AWAY BECAUSE SHE GOT SCARED, SPARE HER THE LECTURE 😭
her home life hasn’t been described much. she’s very much the type to brush it away like it’s nothing and move on. your analysis is 100% correct here bcz it was meant to be a small detail that no one would touch upon, but you were incredibly smart to nitpick that out 🤭
NOW YOUR SONG REC HAS ME REELING. REMEMBER THIS MOMENT SPECIFICALLY BCZ YOU ARE GOING TO LOOK BACK AT THIS ONCE SOMETHING VERY EVENTFUL HAPPENS (you won’t miss it, i SWEAR) AND THEN GO “omg, i said this-” AND I WILL CHEER FOR YOU IN THE SIDELINES
not gonna tell you when or why though. you’re smart, you’ll figure it out 🤗

Something I try to keep in mind when making art that looks vintage is keeping a limited color pallette. Digital art gives you a very wide, Crisp scope of colors, whereas traditional art-- especially older traditional art-- had a very limited and sometimes dulled use of color.
This is a modern riso ink swatch, but still you find a similar and limited selection of colors to mix with. (Mixing digitally as to emulate the layering of ink riso would be coloring on Multiply, and layering on top of eachother 👉)
If you find some old prints, take a closer look and see if you can tell what colors they used and which ones they layered... a lot of the time you'll find yellow as a base!
Misprints can really reveal what colors were used and where, I love misprints...
Something else I keep in the back of my mind is: how the human eye perceives color on paper vs. a screen. Ink and paint soaks into paper, it bleeds, stains, fades over time, smears, ect... the history of a piece can show in physical wear. What kind of history do you want to emulate? Misprinted? Stained? Kept as clean as possible, but unable to escape the bluing damages of the sun? It's one of my favorite things about making vintage art. Making it imperfect!
You can see the bleed, the wobble of the lines on the rug, the fading, the dirt... beautiful!!
Thinking in terms of traditional-method art while drawing digital can help open avenues to achieving that genuine, vintage look!

No shade to OP as a person but believe me, this is a sign that something is DEEPLY fucking broken. Like they announced ONE new IP out of like eight films. I genuinely think within the decade they're just gonna stop making original films all together. That's what they learned from Elemental and Wish, just don't make anything new if you can help it.
Like they've unironically turned into what people pretend Dreamworks is, a sequel mill. The real downside is that Dreamworks actually knows how to make a good sequel, Disney never really figured that one out, bar a couple of outliers, and I have no faith in them pulling any of these off. Absolutely soul-crushingly pathetic. Thank god other animation studios exist.
This is the saddest shit I've ever seen, truly.
