When I was a kid playing Simpsons Hit and Run I used to get into a school bus, drive it to the river in the first level, and position it so when I exited the vehicle it would slowly roll down the slope and into the river - becoming totally submerged and presumably drowning all the people inside.

I was a normal child.

Recently I went through an old laptop to find anything I had to email to myself before wiping the memory to give it to someone else. I had everything else already backed up but there was one thing I felt was very important to keep, and it was this gif of Lisa kicking Milhouse off a cliff in The Simpsons Hit and Run video game. The Simpsons: Hit & Run turns 20

On this day 20 years ago, The Simpsons: Hit & Run was released on the PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox and Nintendo GameCube.

The game was heavily inspired by the Grand Theft Auto series, allowing the player to travel by foot, or in a vehicle. The Simpsons setting, characters, story, and humour greatly complimented this gameplay style.

Hit & Run is considered as not only the best Simpsons game, but a shining example of high quality licensed games in general. It has an active modding community, and many people wish for the game to be remastered or remade.
