The Small Council of 110 AC
House of the Dragon | 3k of pure, unadulterated crack feat. the Small Council, Daemyra, and an improbable amount of swearing
Not even a month into the ninth year of his reign, King Viserys Targaryen, First of His Name, steps on his cloak as he is climbing the steps to his throne, trips, and falls straight on the field of half-melted, raised swords surrounding said throne.

Lord Jon Connington, Hand of the King
Age: 27 || Face Claim: Brock O'Hurn || Played by: Shayla
Jon has spent most of his life in King’s Landing and at the beck and call of his childhood friend. It was in Rhaegar that he found someone who accepted his headstrong determination and inexplicable thirst for knowledge. Though he is a skilled swordsman, his tongue is just as sharp as the blade he carries. He devoted himself to being a dutiful servant to the crown with both the sword and his mind to be diligent in all that he does. Though at times, he is known for his chaotic outbursts, they are more tempered nowadays. With Rhaegar now upon the throne and he his Hand. His position now is more important then ever before. Though as he faces this court, he finds his will and heart tested by the unattainable. In the depths of his heart, he finds himself captivated by Elia Martell. The one thing he could never deem to have as he torments himself in her warm presence. Jon all but seeks solace in his duties even as he feels that he is betraying Rhaegar. Yet, he questions why it has begun to feel far from wrong.
Prince Oberyn Martell, Master of Coin
Age: 24 || Face Claim: Sean Teal || Played by: Hufflepug
Deadly, dangerous, and unpredictable, Oberyn Martell is the younger brother of Prince Doran Martell and Queen Elia Martell. When his sister was married to Prince Rhaegar he followed closely at her heels, determined to protect his sweet sister from the viciousness of Westerosi court. A famed warrior, many a foe have met their ends at the tip of his golden spear. He often disagrees with his brother Doran but in one place have they found agreement: he wishes to see his niece Rhaenys be named Rhaegar’s heir as the first true Queen of Westeros. He has many female daughters, bastards that he claims proudly and raises alongside the children he has had with his paramour and lover, Ellaria Sand.
Lady Valaena Celtigar, Master of Ships
Age: 26 || Face Claim: Tati Gabrielle || Played by:OPEN
Valaena is an experienced tactian and one who has embraced going against the tradition to rise as a woman. In her family, it was encouraged for her to learn the tactical nature of war and trade as both hand in hand played roles in the day to day life of the people. She devoted her youth to excelling in her learning and gaining knowledge of both Essos and Westeros. It was in time that her family continued to garner favor with the Targaryens as she spent her youth in court. From there, she quickly bonded with Rhaegar who embraced her desire to seek leadership for their future generations and when the day came in which he took to the throne. Valaena answered Rhaegar’s call as he offered her a seat to the Small Council. There, she does not hide her blunt and fierce nature that has been her drive to thrive. Though it cannot be denied that there is an allure and charm to the Mistress of ships, that often makes men question their doubts of her.
Lord Arthur Dayne, Commander of the Kingsguard
Age: 28 || Face Claim: Fabien Frankel || Played by: OPEN
Arthur is notoriously known as one of the finest knights in the Seven Kingdoms. He strived to devote himself to the art of the blade and the honor that should be carried in wielding one. In his youth, he was close friends and still is with Rhaegar and Jon as the three respect one another deeply and as such their friendship has been one that has been cemented and withstood the tests of time. Arthur is also devoted to bringing honor to his family as the wielded of Dawn; a legendary sword purportedly forged with the core of a fallen star. His chivalrous nature is not one that can be questioned for he demonstrates it routinely in all that he does. He is known for his fierceness and loyalty to all who gain it and his bluntness with Rhaegar is one that Rhaegar respects as he knows Arthur only utters the truth.Though Arthur fears for his dear friends and kingdom as they enter a difficult new era and prepare for an uncertain future.
Unproclaimed Master of Laws
Age:- || Face Claim: - || Played by: OPEN
The master of laws, later called the justiciar, is the king's advisor relating to the administration of justice and is a member of the small council in King's Landing. This position is currently open and possible to be filled with a OC or Minor Canon. We would prefer this developed naturally IC over someone just claiming the position.

Do you ever think about how obi is the youngest on the council? All of his. colleagues remember him as a baby and an angry teenager. I would die if that was my workplace
ONLY ALL THE TIME
Obi-Wan getting jokingly called the "Council baby" in fics brings me so much joy. They recall when he was a feral, traumatised kid who would constantly get into trouble (though not much has changed there.....). Yoda has padawan photos. After Obi-Wan fucked up on a mission and landed himself in medbay, Yoda probably forwarded them to the rest of the council as punishment for getting hurt. Obi-Wan is STILL mad about it.
Anakin flat-out doesn't believe any of this, until Adi shows him a video of Qui-Gon dangling a squirming teenage Obi-Wan by the back of his robes like a mama tooka to stop him from leaping at another padawan and taking a chunk out of him

A Game of Thrones, Sansa I
He smiled at her. “Now, wolf girl, if you can put a name to me as well, then I must concede that you are truly our Hand’s daughter.”
Joffrey stiffened beside her. “Have a care how you address my betrothed.”
“I can answer,” Sansa said quickly, to quell her prince’s anger.
She smiled at the green knight. “Your helmet bears golden antlers, my lord. The stag is the sigil of the royal House. King Robert has two brothers. By your extreme youth, you can only be Renly Baratheon, Lord of Storm’s End and councillor to the king, and so I name you.”
Ser Barristan chuckled. “By his extreme youth, he can only be a prancing jackanapes, and so I name him.”
There was general laughter, led by Lord Renly himself.

It must have been horrifying for Aegon, Aemond, and Helaena in the years before the dance, all three of them experiencing varying levels of heightened paranoia and unrest every single day.
Viserys was sicky-looking even in ep 6, and the chance of him dying (even then) was pretty high. I can’t imagine that uncertainty breeding anything but fear and worry among everyone.
From their inception, the kids lived in this constant “flight or fight” state, not knowing if Rhaenyra would ever return to the Red Keep, not knowing if Daemon would just turn up at the gates and demand their heads, not knowing if one day Viserys would just disinherit them at the request of his ‘only child.’
Aegon getting drunk every night because the alternative would be thinking of his (very likely) visit to the executioners block; Aemond throwing himself into every lesson, every practice fight with Criston, every flight with Vhagar, because he knows that this period of peace is a farce; Helaena flinching at every touch and sound because she simply doesn’t know whether that’s a friend, or whether the beasts have finally caught up with her.
Alicent going to bed each night, knowing that in the morning, her children’s heads might decorate the walls of the Keep. That one day, she’ll go into Helaena’s rooms and find her missing; that Aegon may never return from his visits to the city; that Aemond may just take the fight to Dragonstone just to end the painful wait that Rhaenyra has (unknowingly, which makes it worse) subjected them all to.
That if her father messes up again, Viserys will send him away (again), that she’ll be alone (again) in a castle that doesn’t want her (again), without allies or friends (again).
Can you imagine living in that state for a week, let alone two decades?
