High School but it's not a musical
Let’s start off how my life went in Manila. Truth be told, there is a huge difference between provincial life and city life. If I were to choose which one wins, Ramon, Isabela has my vote. All I really do remember is being stuck in a new school building since Global Gleam Montessori School was expanding. It was clean, quiet, and I prefer the bigger space alongside the Grade 6 students we also share the whole floor with. This was probably the time wherein I had the worst sleeping habits. I would watch K-Dramas and read online books throughout the night and sleep my way in during classes.
The classroom was shared by us, the Grade 7 students and the Grade 8 ones since our head count isn’t that big and we basically share the same subjects. I would snooze my day away whenever the Grade 8 classes start or during a vacant period. This continued to the point wherein my adviser, Sir Leinard Satera would notice the pattern and even advised me to fix my sleeping schedule. With a matching handwritten letter and a dolphin keychain. It was pink! I still keep it inside my old sling bag.
That was a gift he gave us once the school year ended, the gesture alone is still something I look forward to. Anothing thing about the start of my high school life is me trying my best to balance my academics and me having crushes towards boys. That is an era I don’t like reminiscing about.
Also, I miss going to small convenience stores just to buy ice cream. We were surrounded by places where we can access food since Manila has a lot to offer. I would also see myself in a spot that wants to eat Mcdonalds but couldn’t due to the lack of money. The simple and quick boat rides too just to pass a river in order to reach my classmate’s house were fun too! It made transportation even more convenient but also, I found it unique since it was a water ride rather than a land ride.
Since I’ve mentioned something regarding boys, all I can say is that someone tried courting me within my class. He was tall and could fit the boy ‘’standard’’ but I already have my eyes on someone else. Nothing happened, just small random crushes and puppy love (if that’s a thing).
Nothing spectacular happened as my school was still new and is currently on further development. All I can say is that Manila was really a place that filled my tummy but emptied my pockets. The food stalls were left and right. Nothing could stop your sudden cravings if you’re already at the top.
Now, let us proceed to special highlights that my school included in their curriculum! Starting off with the United Nations and me dressing up as a country I do not remember. Something embarrassing also happened while I was introducing myself. I ended up saying a different country than following my sash’s country. Anyways…
Tumblr media
To continue one of the best experiences Manila schools could offer- we also had fieldtrips! Gladly COVID-19 wasn’t a thing before or else I wouldn’t get to visit Clark Land or get myself my first Starbucks drink with my pocket money. The curiosity of a Grade 7 overpowered me and I ended up buying myself a strawberry frappe for some reason during our bus stop. I have no other memories nor pictures of the trip but I do have some posted in my Facebook account.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aside from that, Grade 7 was really a coming of age hazy dream. I wouldn’t see myself wishing that this year would be repeated but I would love to see myself in Manila once more, even just for a visit. There were a lot of life lessons as my life was starting to change. A city girl in Ramon, Isabela will surely become a different story to tell.
I’ll be coming back for you, Manila (traffic).

Tumblr media
it was a frostbitten february evening when you met the boy at the bakery.
you were seated upon the counter, back turned to the deep brown door through which you’d first entered months ago, eager to apply for a barista position. minho sat across from you on the cashier stool. he was always better with the baked goods. you were a great team. the two of you were bored; a familiar feeling that accompanied weeknights at the bakery-cafe. people tended to arrive either in the morning time or late in the afternoon, and very seldom later. plus, your manager trusted the two of you enough to lock up on your own. and so, the two of you would be left to your own devices for a few measly hours a night per week.
“i bet you couldn’t make a batch of sugar biscuits without instructions,” he teased with a snarky grin. he was right. that was more his thing than yours.
so, you retaliated. “i bet you can’t do the same with a mocha frappe. or even simpler: an iced americano.”
“please!”
“oh yeah? step right up, biscuit boy,” you retorted with a giggle, gesturing to the coffee maker that sat beside him. there were multiple in the shop, and truth be told, he had no idea which was used for what types of beverages.
confidently, he grabbed a cup from the stack on the table behind him, striding over to one of the machines. he then took a look at all the knobs and buttons, clearing his throat. you chuckled. with his finger ghosting over one of the buttons, he turned back toward you to check for your reaction. “not even close,” you remarked. he clicked his tongue, turning back toward the coffee maker. “just a hint,” you added, “the first step isn’t coffee.”
he simply looked up, bewildered. he turned back toward you, dropping his hands to his sides and parting his lips into a circular expression of disbelief.
suddenly, the sparkling tone of the door chime behind you caught both of your attention. peculiar. nobody was usually around at that hour. as minho put his cup back on the table, you hopped off the counter, turning toward the front of the store.
in walked one of the most strikingly handsome boys you think you’ve ever seen. if not the most handsome. an angular face; fair, slightly pink-tinted skin decorated with the most endearing assortment of freckles. they were almost reminiscent of the chocolate sprinkles minho used to top off the cupcakes situated inside the glass counter case. his hair was a vanilla blond and long enough to delicately cascade over the side edges of his face. cherry red lips that parted upon his arrival, chocolatey brown eyes staring right back at yours. he was astonishing.
“how can we help you?” minho asked him, stepping forward. he couldn’t help but notice the way your eyes seemed to be bugging out of your head. he had to stifle a chuckle or two.
the boy’s eyes lingered on yours for a moment. or maybe you dreamed it that way. regardless, he walked up to the counter, inquisitively placing his hands behind his back and bent over to glance at the contents of the case. “hi! uh…” he seemed sweet, though his voice was much deeper than you’d expected. it was unique. he was unique. and in quite a rush, as well. “...shit,” he cursed under his breath. he seemed to have startled himself with his expression. he looked back up at you, then at minho, a tight-lipped smile and strawberry-pink blush appearing on his face. “sorry,” he said.
minho finally let out a chuckle. “no worries. what’re you looking for?” he was always so good with the customers. smooth yet considerate, witty, yet firm. you always aspired to be a little more like minho when it came to customer service.
“do you have any of the salted caramel cupcakes left? they seem to be gone.”
“ah, we seem to have run out of those. could i interest you in a peanut butter cupcake instead?”
the boy shook his head. “no… she likes caramel.”
she. there was a she.
“may i ask what the occasion is?” minho asked.
“it’s my mom’s birthday, and she’ll be home from work soon... hopefully. i would’ve made my own gift to her but i didn’t have the time…”
“enough said,” your coworker assured him. “does she like chocolate? we have a few salted caramel brownies in the back.”
he almost gasped. “that’s perfect!” he paused. “um… how much is that? i-is it more than the cupcake, or…?”
minho glanced through the glass at the tag beside the brownie tray. “nope. less, actually.”
the boy let out a short sigh of relief. “great. thanks so much.”
“ah, it’s nothing. one sec,” minho said before walking into the kitchen to grab the brownie from the fridge. an awkward silence ensued between you and the boy.
“a name for the order?” you blurted. dumbass, you thought to yourself.
“i’m… the only one in the store…” he replied.
heat rose to your cheeks. “i… um… it’s protocol-”
“felix.” he cut you off before you could embarrass yourself further. he could tell you were nervous.
a unique name as well. of course.
“coming right up, felix,” you murmured, a hint of sarcasm in your voice. both of you chuckled.
minho came back out to the counter holding a small blue box with the cafe logo on top. “you’re all set! that’ll be…” he pressed few buttons into the cash register before continuing. “ten thousand won.”
“perfect.” felix grabbed his wallet out of his coat pocket. he pulled out a few bills from the black leather case, handing them to minho with a small smile. he was excited to surprise his mother, and happy that it wouldn’t cost as much as he’d thought it would. and you found it adorable.
minho took the money, ringing felix up and inserting the bills into the register. he handed felix the box, which made the boy’s face light up even more. it was hard for you to suppress a similar countenance. “i hope she likes it. have a good night!” minho said, closing the register. he crossed his arms and leaned on the counter as felix waved to the both of you and began walking back toward the door.
“thanks so much. you too,” he said, giving minho a small bow.
with his hand on the door, he glanced back at you once more. you smiled. he returned the expression. and just like that, with a brief gust of cold air sweeping through the shop, the boy was gone.
“you, uh… you know we only take names when there’s a line, right?” minho teased as the door shut, the chime letting out what seemed to be a pitied laugh.
you held your hands up to your forehead. “ugh, i know! i’m such an idiot,” you replied, letting your nerves go with a chuckle. he patted you on the shoulder, laughing with you.
in between laughs, he remarked, “he really made you that nervous, huh?”
“you could tell?! oh, great… wonderful!”
the two of you carried on for a moment, making light of the otherwise mortifying exchange. but finally, minho glanced at the clock and asked, “would you mind locking up tonight? i’ve got a date.”
“ooh!” you cooed, taunting him. “a date... who’s the not-so-lucky lady?”
“what joke book did you get that one from, hm? i had no idea you even knew how to read!” you gave him a playful punch in the arm for his sarcastic dig, causing him to giggle. yet, he answered your question, saying, “it’s a girl i met on the train home from school the other night. chaeyoung.” he looked off to the side, seemingly entranced. “she’s really witty and smart… and gorgeous. like... gorgeous.”
“ah, yes… so gorgeous that it causes men to leave their posts… and friends…”
“if i bring you back some takeout, will you quit being an ass?”
you pondered the question for a moment. and, while you’d be bored as hell in his absence, closing up the shop wasn’t much of a hassle on weeknights… and, well, you could always go for a free meal. “...pleasure doing business with you, lee minho.”
“thank you. as with you,” he commented in return. he took off the periwinkle blue, involuntarily worn apron which you’ve both been made to wear, revealing what you hadn’t even noticed was a dressy outfit. well, dressier than usual. he’d opted for a pale blue button-up shirt, tucked into black skinny jeans, all tied together by a chic black belt and a pair of black loafers. not to mention the small silver hoop earrings and matching necklace. you had to admit, he did look dapper.
he quickly strode to the back of the kitchen at which there resided a small storage room where you and the other employees usually dropped off your belongings. he grabbed his backpack and put on his long black coat, quickly making his way back up to the counter and walking around to the front of the store. “catch you tomorrow! thanks again.”
“takeout! don’t forget!”
“i couldn’t even if i tried,” he retorted, opening the door. the two of you waved to each other before he took his leave.
moments later, the door opened once again. you figured minho must’ve forgotten something. looking up, you began to ask, “what’d you forget this ti-”
it wasn’t minho.
it was felix.
he paused in his footing, little blue box still in hand. you jumped just a little. he noticed. “s-sorry… i just, um…” he looked off to the side. “i guess this is a bit of a long shot... considering the two of you seem to be more than enough staff… but…” he paused again, taking a moment to straighten his posture and scratch the back of his head. “is there any chance you might be hiring… any time soon?”
the answer was no. undoubtedly. he was right in thinking that you, minho, and the other employees were perfectly capable of handling the cafe. though some mornings and weekends were a bit tight, the team made it work. if this was anybody else, you could’ve easily said no.
yet, he persisted. “i can bake! i like to think i’ve been getting better at it… and i can clean as well.”
you couldn’t turn him down. you simply couldn’t. not with those kind eyes locking themselves with yours, the enthusiasm in his deep voice, or the hastening beat of your heart. “i’ll talk to my manager!” you affirmed. you smiled, causing a similar reaction out of him. an idea popped into your mind. if only for a moment, you thought it was the best you’d ever had. your eyes averted themselves to the pale yellow note pad and ballpoint pen on the counter, used to take orders from seated customers. “here,” you said, reaching for the pen and paper and handing it to felix. “if you’ll give me your number, i can text you with any updates.”
he walked back up to the counter for the second time that night, taking his number down on the pad. as you watched him intently, eyes fixated on his concentrated face, you silently praised yourself for being so brave. especially after the whole name debacle. your heart was at its wits’ end. “there,” he said, placing the pen down on the counter and sliding the notepad back to you. “i really appreciate it.” he sounded so genuine. he flashed you another smile. he had such a grand, bright, toothy smile. it would stay in your memory for days, weeks, even months to come. you can still recall it now.
“it’s no problem,” you responded. “...i really hope your mom likes the brownie.”
“thanks. i’m sure she will.” he turned to walk toward the door. you almost turned away as well, excited to examine the style with which he’d written on the pad, until he spun back around once more. “oh! one more thing… can i get your name as well?”
the question came as a bit of a surprise. you nodded to him, letting out a short giggle. “y/n.”
he grinned again. it was smaller that time; a bit more subdued. effortfully so. “ah. well…” he began walking backward, eyes connected with yours as he headed toward the door. “goodnight, y/n.”
“goodnight, felix.”
and thus, your pursuit for a job offering began.
Tumblr media
your manager, chan, was reluctant to accept your proposal for him to give felix an interview. however, you made note of how eager he’d seemed that night and the skills he’d mentioned having. you also mentioned how he’d been so enthused to find out the price of his order. and so, after a couple days’ worth of mulling it over, chan finally gave in.
you weren’t supposed to be at the cafe when felix was being interviewed. however, your saturday afternoon shift had just ended, and the place was essentially empty. well… apart from you, chan, felix, and then jeongin, who wandered in from the storage room to find you eavesdropping from behind the wall separating the kitchen and the dining area.
“y/n?” he asked. “what are you-”
you inaudibly shushed him, motioning for him to come closer and hide with you. he did so.
“chan’s interviewing someone,” you whispered to the boy.
“ah…” he responded, his tone hushed. “so why are we hiding?”
“because we’re not supposed to be listening.”
“so why are we doing it?”
“because i want to know how it’s going.”
“so why can’t you just-”
you shushed him again. he obliged, covering his mouth with his hand.
from the other side of the wall, chan asked, “so felix, do you have a resume?”
“uh…” felix stammered. you could hear the nerves in his voice.
“let me put it this way,” chan offered instead. “do you have any prior working experience? at another cafe, another store, a completely different place...?”
“oh! yes. i’ve bagged groceries at the supermarket on third street for the last few months. that’s where my mom works. but i’d much rather work here, if i’m honest...”
“ah. okay.” chan nodded, jotting down some notes in his notebook. “so y/n told me you could clean...”
before chan could finish, felix proudly exclaimed, “i can! i do a lot of cleaning at home.”
“perfect.”
the interview went on for a few more minutes. jeongin let out a few silent chuckles every once in a while, mocking your state of concentration. but who could blame you? you just wanted to make sure felix got the position. he seemed to need it.
you totally weren’t in it for his smile… the freckles… the adorable creases that formed at the edges of his eyes when he grinned with that sweet, genuine, toothy grin of his… no, not at all…
nevertheless, he got the job.
Tumblr media
“i love this apron,” felix had said to you on his first day. he was quite fond of your uniform. everyone else in the shop hated them; what, with the pale blue color, white pinstripe pattern, and the ‘one-size-fits-all’ design. yet, in every sense of the phrase, it fit felix perfectly.
“i’m glad someone does,” you replied. he laughed.
“when i got the cleaning job, i wasn’t sure i’d get to wear one. but i’m happy i do.” he smiled at you, his pearlescent teeth on full display and face aglow with joy.
after about a week of training, felix became a natural at his job. though it wasn’t much, he took great pride in his work and enjoyed taking any opportunity he saw to do a little extra sweeping, some more dish washing, and even some dusting here and there.
he also fit right into the employee dynamic. every once in a while, you’d find him playing hand games with jeongin. or, sometimes, minho would discuss baking with him, as he often noted his affinity for it.
“have you ever tried using oats in your chocolate chip cookies?” felix asked. it was monday night. and, as per usual, the shop was devoid of customers.
minho looked puzzled. “oats?”
“yeah. it adds a little nuttiness. it’s really, really good.”
“huh… i’ll have to try it out sometime. i like to add a bit of coffee grounds to the flour when i make mine.” then, he leaned in to whisper, “don’t tell chan, though.” felix let out a nervous giggle.
“don’t worry,” you said to him. “minho’s only kidding. i’d never let him touch my coffee grounds.” this made all three of you laugh.
after the laughter died down, felix looked at the clock. it was four in the afternoon. “well, my shift is over,” he said. you were disappointed. hanging out with felix had become a bit of a highlight for you. he always carried himself so kindly. he had a bubbly soul, and a pure twinkle took residence in his eye whenever he smiled. you couldn’t help but feel light and airy while around him.
“hey, i’ve been meaning to ask,” minho started to felix. “do you bike here?”
the other boy was confused. “no. why?”
“oh… then, do you walk?”
“yeah. it’s only a few blocks,” felix responded, shrugging.
“do you need a ride?”
felix paused to think. “don’t you need to stay here? to lock up and everything…”
“i’ll come right back.”
you chimed in, suggesting, “i can close tonight.”
“you sure?” minho asked you. “i don’t have any food to bribe you with this time.” you both chuckled.
“it’s fine by me,” you said.
minho thanked you, stating once again that he owed you. the amount of times you’d done this for him was countless. but you never seemed to mind. and so, off they went. you were glad felix had integrated into the friend group so well. you supposed that he was just that loveable.
when it finally came time for you to close up shop having not received any other customers for the night, you waltzed into the storage room to grab your things. however, you noticed something strange sitting atop one of the shelves that hadn’t been there that morning.
an envelope. with your name on it. and a tupperware container filled with a single slice of what looked like chocolate cake.
your heart flinched. you were shocked. flustered, flushed. confused… but endeared. you hesitated. shakily, you tore open the cream-colored envelope’s seal, careful not to rip too much. you wanted to preserve its crisp smoothness.
“y/n,” the note said...
“a gift to you,
a chocolatey treat,
a token of thanks
for being so sweet.
~ me”
your heart fluttered. you ran to the kitchen, opening the container and grabbing a freshly-cleaned fork from the metal sink. you dried it off on your apron before excitedly digging into the dessert. it was more of a brownie than a cake, you realized, with melted chocolate chunks stuffed inside. it tasted amazing.
you began wondering who this mystery gifter could’ve been. it couldn’t have been minho… it simply couldn’t have. the two of you were much too close. and he was always more confident than anybody you’d met. if he liked you, you would have already known. besides, things seemed to be going well with him and chaeyoung. no… this had to be someone else. jeongin, perhaps. he did always made such high praises about your cappuccino-crafting abilities. you looked to your left and right, peering around the kitchen for signs of life. but alas, you were all alone in the cafe.
then it hit you.
of course...
felix.
you recalled the first time you met. when you had him jot his number down on the piece of paper. you remembered his handwriting; the way some characters curled on the ends, the rounded shape of his letter e, the squiggly line he used before he signed his name… it was felix. it had to be.
and you were ecstatic.
Tumblr media
the next day, you entered the shop to find a full house. it was a saturday morning, after all. you enjoyed the breakfast rush, mainly because you got the chance to show off your coffee-making skills. you made your way to the kitchen, greeting jeongin at the counter on your way in. you said hello to minho and seungmin as well, who were busy stand-mixing and hand-folding various types of batter. they were a great team, especially on mornings like those. though they tended to bicker about ingredients and proportions, the sweet treats they’d concoct always turned out excellently.
finally, felix emerged from the storage area, duster in hand. when he saw you, however, he froze. with his eyes wide and cheeks beginning to flush, he greeted you. “h-hi, y/n… good morning!”
you let out a bit of a giggle. does he know that i know? you asked yourself. granted, the mysterious gift giver signed off as ‘me,’ so you couldn’t say you were positive… but this reaction told you otherwise. “morning!”
he nodded, smiling nervously. he gestured to the storage room. “the shelves in there are all dusted now.”
“great! i think i’ll… um…” you pointed to the room, slipping past him to stash away your belongings and put on your apron.
“yep! you… do that…” he muttered as you walked away.
however, when you walked in, you found something peculiar displayed upon the shelf.
another envelope. and another container.
you turned back toward the door to find felix peeking in. you chuckled. “so it was you!”
he stepped to the side, coming into full view. “how’d you know?” he asked.
“i just… had a feeling.” you grinned.
he paused, a tight-lipped smile spread across his face. “well, open it.”
you placed your coat and bag on one of the shelves below. you then opened up the envelope just like you had the previous night: meticulously, yet enthralled. it read,
“another dessert
for a person so sweet
will you honor me kindly,
and go out with me?
YES / NO
~ me”
once you looked back up at him, felix commented, “you were supposed to circle one…” he then began rambling. “i thought you didn’t come in until later. you don’t have to say anything right now, or at all, and-”
though you thought it adorable, you cut off his nervous prattle, stating, “yes.”
his eyes grew even wider, his strawberry tinted lips forming a circular shape. “you mean…”
“i’ll go out with you, felix,” you confirmed.
his face lit up. and yours did, too.
Tumblr media
thus, one date became two, two became four…
by the end of february, you were officially a couple.
you were a perfect match. each of you complimented each other so well, rivaling the bittersweetness of a good cappuccino when paired with a light and fluffy slice of cake. like minho, felix’s baking abilities and knowledge never ceased to amaze you. you explained the ins and outs of coffee brewing while he told you all about how he bakes his tasty treats. he even showed you some of the recipes his mom handed down to him from generations past.
his mom sounded so wonderful… yet, a part of you felt so sorry for her. felix’s dad left when he was young, and she’s always had to fend for herself and her son all on her own. however, when she was let go from her office position the previous year, things began to spiral. she took up two jobs: one at the local grocery store and another waitressing at a restaurant in the next town. she was always so busy. but felix understood. he tried helping out, especially by working at the supermarket with her that fall. nothing seemed to get any better.
that is, until he landed his job at the cafe.
felix constantly thanked you for helping him out. chan paid him a considerable amount more than what he’d received at the supermarket, which helped him and his mother out greatly. anything would. aside from telling how lovely, smart, witty, and gorgeous you were, felix’s mission in life was to remind you how you’d saved it.
one monday, you entered the storage room on your break to find a sight all too familiar. a handwritten note and small sliver of baked loveliness, all wrapped up in a metaphorical bow of allure and intrigue. nevertheless, however, you were still just as giddy as the first time you’d received one of felix’s treats. suddenly, you felt a finger graze along your shoulder, moving your hair to the side as an arm wrapped itself around your waist. two warm, pillowy lips made contact with your cheek, gently pecking the skin. felix.
you let out a giggle. “is this for me?” you asked, facetiously.
“of course,” he muttered beside your ear, his tone low, entrancing, and chill-inducing. he kissed your cheek again, holding you close and swaying you from side to side. “it’s another brownie. try it,” he suggested as his chin settled upon your shoulder.
you did as he said, biting into the small slice of fudgy goodness. to your surprise, chunks of melted caramel oozed out of the dessert, cutting through the rich chocolatiness of the brownie with a tangy edge. you hummed in satisfaction. “a salted caramel brownie,” you noted, swallowing your bite.
he chuckled. “i figured i’d finally try it out, maybe give some to my mom… do you like it?”
you placed the sweet back into its container and turned around in his arms, wrapping yours around his neck. you smiled. “i love it, lix. thank you.”
he grinned back at you. pulling you closer by the waist, he sealed the space between his lips and yours with a kiss. his lips were always even softer and more captivating than the texture of his confections. sweeter, too.
after his lips left yours, he gazed into your eyes, holding you close. “open the note, love.”
you excitedly spun back around, doing as instructed. opening the crisp white envelope seal and pulling out the folded sheet of paper, you read its contents.
“a caramel kiss
for you, my love.
i can’t give you the world.
but i hope i’m enough.
~ felix”
you paused. you were puzzled. visibly so, you figured, since when you turned around the look on felix’s face shifted.
he took your hand in his, rubbing small circles into the skin with his thumb. he kept his head down as he spoke. “i wish i could do more. i wish i could take you out to nice places, bake you batches of your favorite sweets, get you real gifts…”
a sharp pain struck your heart. “lix…” you murmured. “i don’t need any of those things. and as far as i’m concerned, these are ‘real gifts.’ they come from your heart. that’s as real as it gets.”
“i know, love, but…”
you placed a hand on his cheek, guiding him to look back up at you. “you don’t even have to do this stuff for me. i know that you care.”
he gave you a forced, shy smile. “okay. i’m glad.” he placed his own hand on top of yours, warm fingertips pressing gently against your skin.
Tumblr media
“felix! y/n!” chan called from the kitchen. it was saturday night, and the last of the day’s customers were taking their leave. you were standing by the coffee-makers, in the middle of telling felix about the time you’d bested jeongin in a macchiato-making contest during a breakfast rush.
both of you turned toward the kitchen door, concerned. chan poked his head out. “can you come here a minute?” he looked serious. something was wrong.
nevertheless, the two of you obliged. holding hands, you made your way to the kitchen, led by chan to the cooling racks. “what’s up?” you asked.
chan cleared his throat before shoving his hands into his pockets. “i have reason to believe that one of you, or both, has violated protocol.”
you quickly grew confused. felix’s hand tightened around yours. you glanced at him, noticing how his face flushed pale. “uh…” he stammered.
“early this morning, seungmin pointed out that we’re low on cocoa powder. now, that’s odd, especially considering we had three cans of it yesterday. now we only have two.” you both nodded at him, following along. “...so i took a look at the camera footage.”
felix let go of your hand. “c-cameras?” he stuttered. you were even more confused.
“yeah. the cameras,” chan confirmed, looking felix dead in the eye. “i watched the footage from yesterday. and the day before.”
felix gulped. “you… you did….”
“what the hell is going on?” you asked.
chan let out a bit of a sigh. “y/n. were you aware that felix has been taking ingredients from the kitchen?”
your heart dropped.
you glanced at your boyfriend. he glanced back at you. he then bit his bottom lip, averting his eyes down to the floor. you looked back at chan, calmly answering, “no… i had no idea.”
“is that true?” chan asked.
“yes.” you then turned to felix, face ablaze. “it’s true.”
“then in that case, you can go for the night. i’d like to talk to felix. alone.”
after one last unreciprocated look at your boyfriend, you quickly rummaged through the storage room, collected your things, and left. you stood outside of the cafe, waiting for whatever might happen next. your stomach was doing flips. you couldn’t possibly believe what you’d heard.
minutes elapsed. it felt more like hours. all you could think to do was lean up against a lamp post and watch the gloomy clouds shift overhead. the sun was close to being fully set, casting a deep purple tint over the whole street landscape. and it looked as though it was about to rain.
after what felt like an exorbitantly long time, felix emerged from the shop. the door closed behind him as he bolted down the steps and onto the pavement, that familiar chime sending a chill through you. it sounded almost eerie that night. out of place. taunting.
“lix,” you called. you walked behind him, despite his quickening pace. but he wouldn’t stop or slow down. “lix,” you exclaimed again. no answer. finally, you grabbed his arm, realizing his apron was gone, and shouted, “felix! slow down.”
he scoffed, stopping dead in his tracks. “he fired me.”
you stared at him, blankly. once again, you couldn’t believe it.
“i tried to do something nice, and he fired me.”
“do you think it makes me feel any better?” you asked. “you getting yourself fired so you could make me little brownie experiments?” you paused, taking a deep breath. you were outraged. more so with yourself. you should’ve asked how he was finding the time or the resources to be doing what he was doing. you should’ve known. “i thought you needed this job. when were you gonna tell me you were a thief?”
“a thief?!” felix’s eyes seemed to be bulging out of his head. he was surprised at your verbiage. he’d never seen you upset like this. “y/n, i’m not a thief.” you rolled your eyes. his cheeks flushed crimson. a prickling sensation began around his eyes. a stinging, almost. tears. he looked down at his sneakers. tattered white converse. the same ones he wore every day to work. the same ones on which he’d splattered a few droplets of brownie batter during his latest attempt at making you a gift. now, it just looked like a stain of mud. “i didn’t just take cocoa powder. i took eggs… some milk… a couple cups of flour here and there… my mom got demoted at the restaurant. she works the bar now. she thinks i asked for the stuff. so yeah, i did need this job! i do need it. i just fucked up...” under his breath, trying not to give into the tears that prodded at his eyes, he remarked, “‘little brownie experiments’... that’s all they ever were to you? little brownie experiments...”
you realized what you’d said. of course that’s not all they were to you. they were everything to you. but that isn’t what you’d said. “lix… i-”
“you know what, you’re right,” he muttered, shifting his weight back and forth on his feet, hands clasped behind his back, and eyes rapidly blinking to avoid the inevitable. “they probably weren’t even all that good.”
you took a step closer to him. a drop of water fell onto your shoulder from above. “no.. no, that’s not what i-”
but, as quickly as you approached him, he stepped back. he locked eyes with you once again. his eyes were glossy; tainted with the aftereffects of a broken heart. suddenly, a steady stream of drizzling rain began to fall from the night sky above you. felix’s lip quivered. yet, with a furrowing brow, he continued. “you know what, maybe this was all a mistake.” his voice cracked a bit; frayed at the edges. “maybe i should’ve gotten a different job. at a place that would pay me enough to be able to buy my own shit and pay my mom’s bills.” the rain fell harder now, coating his hair and dragging it down over his face. you didn’t even feel it as it completely drenched you as well.
seeing him like this affected you just as much as your words did him. guilt. the panging, crushing weight of guilt laid heavily upon your heart. “felix…” you whimpered, tears of your own beginning to cloud your line of sight. though, you could still see clear enough to watch him shake his head, turning around and beginning his ascent up the avenue. clear as ever. even despite the pitter-patter of evening gloom.
sopping wet, you marched back into the shop. you ripped off your apron, throwing it down upon the counter. you then walked back behind it to start preparing to close up for the night. all you wanted was to go home.
that is, until you spotted an envelope tucked beside the cappuccino maker.
a creamy white envelope, with your name and a heart inscribed on the back. and a tupperware container. a single teardrop descended from the corner of your eye, resembling the droplets of rain that covered your form. you carefully took hold of the envelope. you gently tore it open, making sure not to rip it, just like you’d done the very first and subsequent times.
“another present
for my love;
my dear y/n,
sent from above.
~ felix”
a drop of rain fell from your hair onto the page, dampening his name. the black ink began to run, the letters seeping into each other.
you could no longer control your tears. you took a seat on the floor, back resting against a leg of the table upon which the coffee makers stood. the metal was cold. but you paid it no mind. with your head on your knees, legs bent and arms wrapped around them, you cried. audibly. you couldn’t believe how you’d spoken to him. you should’ve known that he didn’t have the money to bake you these little presents on his own. you should’ve realized from the moment he confirmed it was him. at least, that’s what you thought to yourself as the tears expelled themselves from your system.
he just wanted to make you something special. yes, he broke the rules. yes, he stole from the cafe. and yes, he knew it was wrong. but he just wanted to make you something special. it was the only way he believed he could. and you wish you’d seen that. not just so you could’ve prevented it, but also so you could’ve appreciated it even more. so you could’ve seen that not only was he working overtime to make you something you might enjoy, but that he was risking his job for you and his mother. it wasn’t a perfect gesture - not by a long shot. but he meant well. he always did. and you didn’t even give him the chance to explain.
you loved him.
after a few moments of solitude, you regained your breath. you sniffled, looking down at the note. you then stood back up, taking hold of the container. its contents looked delicious. but you couldn’t consume it. not even if you’d been hungry. so, you dumped it into the trashcan beside the table. and, with a deep, shaky breath, you ripped up the letter and envelope into tiny pieces. it was a bittersweet feeling, letting go. but you had to do it. and so, home you went.
Tumblr media
a week passed. things never really changed at the cafe once felix left. weeknights were still as slow as ever. maybe even slower. you missed him.
minho emerged from the kitchen one evening to find you wiping down the cappuccino maker with a coffee-stained rag. it was the third time you’d done it that day. twice more than you were getting paid for. and of course he noticed. “how’re you holding up?” he asked.
you barely glanced up at him, busy rubbing the same spot on the metal machine over and over. this stupid stain just wouldn’t budge. each time you’d gone over it that day, you couldn’t seem to make it go away. it plagued your mind, infiltrating your subconscious when you least expected it until you finally decided to go back to it for the second time, then the third. it was a real mood killer. though your mood hadn’t been very lively when the day began, either. “‘m fine,” you replied through gritted teeth, brows angled inward as your focus remained on the task at hand.
“are you?” he questioned, playfully. he leaned on the counter behind you, crossing his arms and watching you scrub. “you’ve been going at it with that thing for hours now. what’d it ever do to y-”
“i’m fine!” you interjected. you then paused, both in speech and action. suddenly, you were aware of how fast you’d been rubbing the machine. as well as how loud your voice had raised itself. you turned around. “...sorry.”
he gave a pitied smile, crossing his arms. “it’s ok. i’m fine,” he replied, mimicking you. it made you chuckle. he was glad it did. “is, uh… is this a bad time to ask you to lock up? i’ve got a.. uh…”
“a date?” you supposed, unfeeling.
he cleared his throat, glancing between you, the clock above you, and his shoes. “yeah,” he confirmed. “with chaeyoung. would you mind?”
“not at all.”
“you sure?” you nodded. “alright… i owe you one… or ten...” he joked, untying his apron.
“no you don’t,” you murmured, eyes drifting to the side. you almost turned back around, heart set on getting to that stain, until you felt his hand on your arm. you glanced at each other for a moment. he looked sad. sorry. he pitied you. and you hated it. yet, as he took you in his arms, wrapping you into a tight, benevolent hug, you became a little less tense. a little less angry. you hugged him back, burying your face into his shoulder. this was the first time you’d ever engaged in such a gesture with your coworker. sure, you were friends. and sure, you’d talked about some deep stuff on nights like these with nothing better to do. but this was different. meaningful. sweet.
after a moment, minho remarked, “you know i miss him too, right?” he sounded mockingly peeved. “he was your boyfriend but he was my friend.”
you looked up at him, confused. “you’re not still friends?”
he chuckled. “no! he’s avoiding me the same way he’s avoiding you.”
laughing with him, you responded, “shit… i’m sorry, minho.”
“you have nothing to apologize for.” he let go of you, hands remaining on your sides for a moment. “you both messed up. it’s not all your fault.” you nodded to him, a reluctant, close-lipped smile upon your face. he glanced up at the clock again before pulling his apron off. “i’ve gotta go. thanks again for locking up, y/n.” he walked past the counter to the front of the store. “i’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?” he added, pointing at you while striding backwards toward the door.
“see you tomorrow,” you replied, waving to him. “have fun.” you still sounded a bit bitter. you couldn’t help it.
“thanks,” he said. the chimes twinkled as the door closed. it haunted you.
and with that, he was gone. nothing but you, your rag, and that unnerving coffee stain for another half-hour’s time.
you heard the opening and closing of the door behind you once again. with a sigh, not even bothering to turn around, you blurted, “we’re about to lock up for the night.”
no response. odd. maybe they didn’t hear you. you tried again, raising your voice a bit but continuing your attempts to clear up the stain all the while. “i apologize, but we’re closed for the night-”
“one salted caramel brownie, please.”
a familiar voice. a familiar, low-toned, nostalgia-inducing voice. the voice that, at one time, softened for you… close enough to your ear to make your stomach tie itself in knots. the voice that made you giggle, the voice that called you “love”... the voice that cracked when faced with the realization that it was never to be heard by you again. you spun around.
a familiar face, too.
felix.
his eyes gazed into yours. somber, silent.
“y-you...”
“hey.”

Idol! Jaemin x Barista! Reader
“This is the first time a barista has defied my order, and you even know who I am, this is outrageous. Female baristas are the best when it comes to making my order, and you dare to defy me?”  Jaemin asked after he had taken a sip of his coffee.
“Oh please, Jaemin. Not giving you four shots of Americano isn’t the end of the world. And as for the other baristas, I’m not the type to kill my best customers by making an unhealthy drink, not everyone can be charmed by your good looks, Jaemin,” you said as you handed out drinks to his members.
“Really? I think you’re even more charmed by me than others, or you wouldn’t be worrying about my health by not serving me the correct order,” Jaemin said as he leaned over at the service counter, eyebrows moving up and down with a smug look on his face.
“Whatever floats your boat, Na Jaemin.”

The practice room is filled with hustle and bustle as Jaemin and his fellow dream members prepare for their next comeback, checking their shoe laces before turning on the music, their hard work playing in the background as their choreographer instructs them to stretch before dancing. Practices always went like this at the start of the day, tired eyes trying to decipher the teacher’s moves as they take in the instructions and advice from their teacher, they hardly got any sleep last night, just to finish off recording the side tracks in the studio for their album just so they could focus on the performance side of things.
After the first hour, their teacher let them take a break, registering the tired look on their faces, the boys immediately went for their water bottles, but water isn’t going to help with their fatigue, so Jaemin suggested taking a walk to their usual coffee place, to Jaemin, coffee always helped him focus and gave him energy even more so than food. The boys agreed, making their way to the couch to slip on their padded jackets.
When they got to the cafe, the familiar chime of the doorbell rings as Renjun pushes open the door, the scent of coffee immediately waking them up the slightest, trudging towards the counter that was empty of people, the office workers have already retreated to their workplace, the main reason why they never went to get coffee first thing in the morning.
Renjun rang the bell as Jisung looks at the slices of cake in the display fridge expectantly, tugging on Jeno’s sleeve, hoping that he won’t be the only one hungry right now, but lips downturned when Jeno told him to save it for lunch, that their break wouldn’t be long enough for Jisung to digest the food quick enough to avoid a stomach ache.
When Jisung finally settled on what he wanted, Jaemin rang the bell that sat idly on the register, a girl who looked around twenty who was obviously new making her way to greet them a good morning before asking them what they wanted. If you knew who they were, you didn’t show any indication, unlike the other baristas, mostly female, who’d coo at them and compliment their good looks. You took down the orders with a monotonous expression, asking for their names just like any other customer, that is until Jaemin said his order, a slight wince that was a little noticeable, and surprisingly, you didn’t ask for his name, immediately knowing who he is even with his coat pulled higher, knowing who he is just from the ‘unique’ choice of drink, from what the boys could see as you scrawled his name on his cup with a sharpie, not a spelling in error, but in your defense, you got the other members’ names right as well, even going as far as writing their names on the different cake boxes to avoid mix ups.
The boys waited for their drinks patiently as Jisung tried to smell a bit of his cake through the tiny gaps of the box, trying to subdue his hunger as best as he could before the coffee arrives to fill his stomach, that boy digested this morning’s breakfast like it was nothing, Chenle telling him to eat more the next morning before he accidentally starves himself, a conversation they always have at the start of preparations.
When the first drink arrived, each of them took a look, careful not to take someone else’s drink, especially Jaemin’s, who had ordered an iced Americano in this cold weather, and not to mention, four shots. Jaemin took his drink, taking a sip to check, which he always does when there’s a new barista.
“Excuse me, miss?” Jaemin said as he waves his drink higher to try to get your attention when you were cleaning one of the machines, beckoning you back to the service counter.
“Yes?”
“I asked for four shots of Americano just now, I think there’s only two shots here,” Jaemin said as he stirs his drink with his straw, trying to show you the difference in density of two shots and four.
“Yeah, I know,” you said in a curt tone.
“Look, miss I know it isn’t company policy to make more than two shots, but I’m a regular here, and you do know where your regulars work at right?” Jaemin said as he takes off his cap and pushes his hair back, Donghyuck gagging in the background, knowing that he’s trying to charm her just like all the other female baristas who’ve worked here.
“I know who you are, Na Jaemin of Nct Dream who are under SM Entertainment, but that doesn’t mean I’m giving you that thing you call coffee, and it’s not even a matter of company policy,” you said as you look at him pointedly, not backing off of what you had stood for, the boys attention immediately fixated on you, not expecting you to shoot down Jaemin’s properly executed charms.
Jaemin props both his elbows on the service counter, mirroring your stance as he takes in your beautiful features that he had just noticed, usually he wouldn’t even spare the other female baristas a glance after getting his order, dedicating his flirtatious charms solely on getting his four shots of Americano, but today, he suddenly had a different goal in mind, exchanging his hand of cards for a game of two.
“This is the first time a barista has defied my order, and you even know who I am, this is outrageous. Female baristas are the best when it comes to making my order, and you dare to defy me?”  Jaemin asked in a dramatic tone.
“Whatever floats your boat, Na Jaemin,” was the only thing you said before making your way back into the backroom, a confident bonce in your footsteps.
Tumblr media
The next time Jaemin saw you was only hours later, when he was about to head home, he had chose to sit out some promotion discussions, opting to let Jeno listen to the staff drone on about the concept for this comeback, and volunteered to take Jisung for another snack run.
“Their chocolate chip cookies look so good, hyung,” Jisung said as he observes the cookies in the cookie jar.
“I’ll buy you anything you want as long as you can still eat dinner after we hit the showers.”
When Jaemin finally reached his turn in line, your beautiful face greeted him once again.
“Well if it isn’t you again, the one who stops me from having my favourite drink.”
“She’s just trying to add a few years to your life span, hyung,” Jisung pipes up from under all the scarves he had bundled around his neck.
“And this is why they say raising kids are useless and why hasn’t your shift ended?” Jaemin asked, his head cocked to a side in a questioning manner.
“Soon, guess you’ll have to wait for the next barista for your cup of death.”
“Unfortunately for me, I don’t have time to spare. So hit me with anything, as long as there’s caffeine in it, I just need enough energy to last until I get to my bed, and a chocolate chip cookie for Jisung.”
“Free rein of creativity?” you asked in a suspecting tone.
“Just nothing that contains strawberries.”
“Gotcha,” you said before you busied yourself behind the counter.
“Why are you watching her so intently, hyung?”
“What do you mean? I’m checking to see if she’s evil enough to slip a strawberry syrup or something into my drink.”
“But you’re looking at her, not the drink,” Jisung said with a slight teasing tone.
“Kids shouldn’t mind adults business, baby Jisungie.”
“I’m going to be an adult soon.”
“Kids these days grow up so quickly,” Jaemin said with a sigh as you called his name at the service counter, making his way towards your direction.
“Here, bon appetit, apple crunch delight frappe, and a cookie, I heated it up for you, Jisung, hold the top of the paper bag, it might still be hot.”
Jaemin held up his cup of drink, observing intently at the swirls of caramel that decorate the sides of the cup, as well as the cinnamon, apple powder, as well as cookie crumbs scattered on top of the whip cream.
“Is there a lot of milk in this?”Jaemin asked as he swirled his drink, taking a sip to try your drink, testing to see if it tastes as good as it looks, although it isn’t bitter, and probably had only one shot of espresso, the overwhelming sweetness of the drink with the slight bitter undertone has him hooked.
“Jaemin hyung is lactose intolerant,” Jisung said as he takes the paper bag in his hand, a worried expression as he observes Jaemin sipping from the drink.
“I used soy milk, is that okay with you?”
“Wait, how did you know Jaemin hyung is lactose intolerant?”
“I think another worker mentioned it to me, I have to get back to work now, have a nice day, you two,” you said before Jaemin got the chance to thank you.
Tumblr media
As time goes by, the two of you make more small talk, and still jokingly argue over the fact that you’re not serving Jaemin four shots of Americano. The members watch curiously as Jaemin breaks the typical platonic flirting routine that he used to have with other female baristas, it’s not that he doesn’t flirt with you, but rather there’s sincerity in his eyes that aren’t there when it comes to the other people he charms.
There was once when the other members took a sip of his new favourite drink, thinking it wouldn’t be as bad as the poison he used to drink, but apparently, they were in for a surprise.
“This shit is too sweet, what the hell?!” Donghyuck yelled before he quickly downs a gulp of water to wash the sweetness off his taste buds.
The others quickly took a sip, saying that Hyuck was probably overreacting, but to their demise, all of them grimaced at the caramel and apple syrup filled drink, the taste of coffee barely reaching their taste buds, masked by all the sweet syrups.
“God, how does she know you so well? How did she even know about your weird preferences for food?” Renjun asked after downing the whole bottle of water, immediately popping a mint into his mouth.
“When you mentioned that, I don’t know, I never told her that before, not even the other baristas that I’ve ordered from, and she even knew I was lactose intolerant.”
“You only mentioned these things on shows, she’s probably a fan, specifically your fan,” Jeno noted.
“Well, well, well, looks like our Jaemin hit the jackpot, you did say our fans are your ideal type, or was that just for camera?” Hyuck said as he looped an arm over Jaemin’s shoulder, a teasing tone as he sings your name loudly in his ear.
“God you’re annoying, and yes I did mean it, but that doesn’t mean she’s a fan.”
“She’s obviously a fan,” all of them said immediately.
“Even if she isn’t, you were already fascinated by her the first time she wouldn’t give you your drink,” Renjun said to make a painfully obvious point that Jaemin didn’t want to come clean yet.
“I’m heading to bed, keep guessing guys,” Jaemin said as he got up from the couch, retreating into his room, but finds himself staring at the same face once he closes his eyes, your smile in his mind as fatigue finally lulls him into peaceful slumber.
Tumblr media
A month went by and things haven’t changed much, but the boys are finally getting weekends off after getting the choreography in their mind, now they just need to practice it until it’s perfect, before the filming starts.
The winter season at times, drives customers away from the cafe, opting to stay home and settle for the instant coffee packets they have in their comfort of their own houses, but six very persistent customers never fail but to make it to the cafe’s warm confines every morning, other than the other customers that can’t start work without their daily coffee intake as well of course.
“Morning boys, what would you like to have today?”
“Morning, the guardian angel of my kidneys, every morning I feel warmer just by looking at your beautiful smile.”
“Actually I think that’s the air vent on top of your head, Jaemin,” you said as you pointed at the ceiling, trying to hide the smile on your face.
“Right, I didn’t see that until today, I’ll have my usual,” Jaemin said with a toothy grin on his face, trying his best to distract you from his failed pick up line as the rest of the boys snickers at his failed attempt, only pausing to tell you what they wanted.
When you came out with their drinks, Jaemin plucked the sharpie that was clipped onto your apron and a cup sleeve from the stand, uncapping the pen to quickly write down his number on the sleeve before reaching out your hand, trying to not get distracted by your smooth skin as he slips the sleeve onto your wrist, catching you by surprise.
“Call me,” was all he said before he ushered the boys out, not wanting them to tease him in front of you so blatantly.
You laughed at the amusing scene in front of you, Jaemin pushing the boys out as he clamps a hand over Donghyuck’s mouth. When they were out, the cafe was once again empty, giving you time to ponder over the feeling of where Jaemin held your hand, butterflies erupting in your stomach at the sight of his number on your wrist, taking the sleeve off and placing it in your pocket securely.
Tumblr media
You and Jaemin have been texting back and forth, and you find that he likes asking very specific questions from you, other than the good morning, how was your day, and goodnight texts. He’d ask about things like what was your favourite colour, and when you say you didn’t have one, he’d send the doggy eyes emoji and said that he wouldn’t know what to get you for your first present, and you promptly told him you didn’t want any gifts from him, but Jaemin being Jaemin, got you Ryan house slippers the next day when you had randomly mentioned how cold your floorboards are these days.
“I don’t want to seem like we’re talking solely because you’re buying me stuff, you know, just because you’re an idol, doesn’t mean you can splurge on me,” you said as you were making his coffee, putting in extra effort in making the whipped cream look nice.
“Don’t worry, I have plenty of savings, and now I can finally match with someone, the boys refused to have matching house slippers with me,” he complained in that baby tone of his. “Just let me buy you a gift to show my sincerity, and don’t act like you weren’t happy when I passed you the bag, your beautiful eyes give you away,” Jaemin said as he was leaning onto the service counter, watching you focus on your work is really attractive to him, taking a mental image of this moment.
“Sure, sincerity. Though, I do hear little birdies singing about how you flirt with every barista here, and that you’re their favourite customer,” you said as you passed him his drink, fingers touching his, but he didn’t let go, your eyes flicking to the boys who were sat at a table nearby, watching the two of you like a movie, but coffee clutched in their hands instead of a soda, eyes wide in concentration.
“You’re different,” he still hasn’t let go of your hand.
“How so?” you asked as you watch him trace your knuckles gently.
“You’re the only one I gave my number to, and what we have, isn’t casual flirting,” he said as his eyes looked upwards, holding your gaze, “it’s interest,” he said before leaving, the boys following suit before waving you goodbye and a ‘see you later’ from Jisung.
You stood still at your spot even after they had left, pondering over the words Jaemin chose to describe whatever attraction he had towards you, your chain of thoughts were however broken by the distant chime of your phone, signaling the arrival of a text message. You opened your phone to see a text from Jaemin.
‘Wanna go for a bike ride tonight? I’ll come get you after dinner.’
‘I don’t have a bike.’
‘You can borrow Jeno’s.’
‘I don’t know how to ride a bike.’
You were suddenly startled by the ringing of an all too familiar song of your ringtone, pressing the call button with an unknowing smile on your face.
“You just saw me minutes ago, and now you’re calling?”
“You seriously don’t know how to ride a bike? Or is this a subtle rejection to our first date?”
“Yes, Na Jaemin, I seriously don’t know how to ride a bike, I kid you not.”
“How did you even manage to get around Seoul without a bike?”
“The bus, the metro, my legs, I never needed to ride a bike my whole life. So we can’t have our date tonight?” you asked, hoping that he’d still have it on.
“How about I teach you?”
“Falling on my butt at twenty sounds like a bad idea for my tailbone.”
“Wait, I got an idea, send me your address, I’ll come pick you up at 9, I got to go, duty calls,” was the only thing he said before ending the call, leaving you miffed about what he’s going to pick you up from. From what you know, only Jeno, Renjun, and Chenle have their driving licenses.
Guess you’ll have to wait for tonight.
Tumblr media
“I should’ve just said I was busy if I had known you’ll pull something like this.”
“What’s the problem?” Jaemin asked as he sat on his brand new bike, not the sporty one he had, but a brand new normal bicycle, the ones that had an extra place for you to strap your bag, though, instead of the empty netted metal plate, it was turned into a makeshift seat, Jaemin had strapped a pillow there using two old belts.
“You brought a new bike just for this date?” you asked as you looked at him in disbelief.
“Well, not just for this date, I plan to have plenty of bike dates with you, so I thought why not? Come on, time’s ticking, Cinderella,” Jaemin said as he held a hand out and pulled you to him, letting him adjust the helmet he had just placed on your head.
You stared into his honey brown orbs as he fixed your helmet, looking at the little stars in his big eyes as his fingers grazed your cheeks, hoping that he doesn’t touch your heated cheeks. When he was done, you hopped onto the back of the bike, your feet dangling off the ground.
When Jaemin paddled, you weren’t used to the jolt of speed, and instinctively looped an arm over Jaemin’s waist, your body lightly crashing onto Jaemin’s back, your cheek on his shoulder.
“Hold on tight, princess.”
Jaemin took you to a nearby hill which overlooked Seoul’s beautiful night sky, but you pulled onto his sleeve and pointed at a couple nearby, alerting him of their presence.
“They might recognise you.”
“Don’t worry, I know another place,” Jaemin said as he paddled further into the area, crossing into a small patch of grassland that was shaded by some bushes. You hopped off the bike and took off your helmet, looping it onto one of its handles, and breathed in a breath of fresh air.
“This is nice, feels like I’m really in a fairytale.”
“Thought you might want to feel a different atmosphere from the busy cafe, I immediately thought of this hill, Jeno and I come up here sometimes.”
“Thank you, Jaemin, this must’ve been a special spot to you.”
“I like seeing the stars here, when the night’s clear of clouds. Look up, there’s a few above us.”
You tilted your head up to see the stars shining down on you, alongside a crescent moon, barely steered clear by a large cloud.
“It’s beautiful.”
“Not as much as you,” Jaemin said as he laid down on the blanket he had set out, a hand patting the empty spot next to him.
“Ever the flirt, aren’t you?” you teased, but nonetheless laid down onto his outstrecthed arm, letting him pull you close to him.
“It was a compliment, not flirting.”
“Okay Mr baristas’ favourite, I will take that as a compliment as per your request.”
“Finally, thank you.”
You fished your phone out to take a photo of the sky, and that’s when Jaemin noticed an all too familiar photo of himself on your home screen, from the candy lab photoshoots.
“I knew it!” Jaemin said as he grabbed your phone, inspecting your home screen like it wasn’t him on it, “I knew you were a fan, that’s the only way to explain how you knew about my lactose and my taste preferences, just let me check,” Jaemin said as you shouted for him to give you your phone back, embarrassed that you had overlooked the need to switch your wallpaper before this date, Jaemin went and clicked onto your gallery, revealing your folders.
“Look what we have here, a Jaemin file, and there’s 89 photos in here, wait a minute, why do you have a file for Jeno? And there’s 94 photos?! How could you?!” Jaemin demanded as he waves your phone right in front of your face.
“Oh please, don’t be a drama king, Jaemin. Like you said, I’m a fan of you,, naturally I’m a fan of Jeno as well, the two of you come together like couple, most of us fans think you guys are in love with each other.”
“What?! So you thought I was gay at first?!”
“Well, yeah.”
“Now I know why my charms didn’t work on you the first few times,” Jaemin mumbled into your shoulder after he pulled you into his embrace, wallowing in self pity, as well as an excuse for a hug. After a minute or so, he pulled his head away, his smile back on his face.
“I won’t be discouraged because of that, why don’t you tell me a bit about yourself, princess, since you already know everything about me. Like who do you live with? That area you live in was developed long ago, very different from what I had thought of, come on, tell me.”
“I live with my grandpa, he’s been staying there for decades now.”
“What about your parents?”
“They died in a car crash along with my grandma when I was just a baby, I don’t remember anything about them.”
“I’m so sorry,” Jaemin said as he stroked your back to comfort you, his palm warming you in this cold weather, as well as this distant cold memory.
“Don’t be, we’ve moved on, it’s been so many years now. How about you? How’s idol life?”
“Wake up, train, sleep, and repeat, unless it’s during promotional periods, then things get to be more exciting, tired, but regardless, exciting, seeing the fans enjoy our hard work pays off.”
“You’ve come so far, Jaemin. I’m proud of you, all of us are,” you said, your voice soft, but full of admiration.
“Thank you, really, those words mean a lot to me. I sacrificed quite a bit to be where I am, I think I miss going to school the most, as ridiculous as it may sound to other people, I don’t have any friends outside of the company. What about you, don’t you want to go college?”
“I like what I’m doing, and my grandfather has a fair amount of shares of various companies he had bought when he was still in doing business, he’s getting old, and I want to spend as much time as I can with him, college would’ve taken up too much of my attention, plus, I could always do college when I’m older, but grandpa wouldn’t be getting any younger.”
“That’s really sweet of you, as sweet as the drink you make me everyday.”
“You don’t think it’s cowardice? Some people have said that to me, and said that it’s an excuse for not getting out of my comfort zone.”
“I don’t think not going to college is a sign of not daring to go out of your comfort zone, it’s just like choosing a career over family, it’s just a difference of commitment, and you chose to be with your grandpa, and I think that’s what you always wanted, don’t let people who don’t understand you completely to tell you what to do, and you don’t have to give them an explanation either, just be you, and that’s enough.”
“For a twenty year old, you’re pretty wise, Na Jaemin. I’ve always wondered how you dealt with the not so nice comments and put a smile on your face everyday.”
“You smile everyday too, you’re stronger than you think, princess.”
“I smile to my customers because that’s my job, and it’s not even genuine, but I can see that yours are, it’s why fans adore you, your smile brings them joy.”
“As long as they’re happy, I’m happy. So are the smiles when we step into the shop genuine? Or are those scripted as well?”
“I did say you bring happiness to your fans, didn’t I?”
“Yeah? Then is it too much if I ask for a photo of us? Of you smiling?”
“Go ahead, but I don’t think we should use flash, what if the people down there sees us?”
“Even if they do, they’re not going to trudge uphill in their office attire just for the sake of gossip. Have a little faith in humanity.”
“I don’t have much faith in humanity,” you said as you sat up from the ground, looking at the couple only a few feet below you, one glance up and they’ll definitely see you if they looked up.
“What about me, then? How much faith do you have in me?” Jaemin asked, sitting up, his hand immediately on your back, nudging you to the direction of his face, searching your eyes once more.
You heard the question, but instead of answering immediately, you pondered over it as you lift a hand up to run your fingers through his locks gently, avoiding his eyes for now, not wanting to seem like a fool desperate for love, swallowing the lump in your throat before answering him.
“Just the right amount for my heart to shatter if placed in the wrong hands,” you answered, your voice somewhat hollow, a nagging voice in your mind tells you that you might have revealed too much, even from that one sentence.
Jaemin thinks it over before replying to what you said, the mood suddenly took a somber change, and he didn’t want to put it too simply, and he doesn’t want to disregard your emotions, he wants to know how the scars in your heart come about, he wants to know who you used to smile to before him, but he doesn’t ask, he doesn’t want to pry open your wounds once more without any preparation. He knows you’ll tell him when you’re ready.
“In exchange for your faith in me, I’ll give you this,” Jaemin said before taking your hand in his, cupping it over his heart, his eyes looking into yours, hoping that you’ll take this promise into account, that you’ll allow him in your heart, even if it takes a long time.
“Jaemin, I...” Jaemin puts a finger on your lips, he doesn’t need an explanation, not yet.
“Tell me when you really feel it. ”
At that moment, he looked like the sweetest thing ever, no one has ever looked at you like you were his whole world, you could faintly see your own reflection in his eyes, right next to his own stars, you could see yourself in the windows of his soul, you were apart of the little galaxy in his eyes now, his doe eyes making your heart do flips, you didn’t know what to say, what you were feeling right now seemed too vast to be worded out, so instead, you showed him with your actions, you leaned in and kissed him, your body’s weight shifting onto his, making him topple over as he reciprocates the kiss, your hair splayed all over his face, the sweet scent of your shampoo making him a hundred times more delirious, like kissing you wasn’t making him dizzy enough, he had to summon utmost concentration in kissing you back, his pouty lips engulfing your bottom lip, sucking gently as his arms around your waist pull you flush against him, the feeling of your cold hands on his warm nape keeping him on the edge, reminding him not to screw the first kiss up.
When the two of you pulled apart for air, you could see Jaemin’s lips red and swollen as his chest heaves slightly, with a little bit of drool on his chin, still bewildered that you were the one who did this, to the Na Jaemin, the boy of your dreams. Although the two of you broke off the kiss, both your hands are still on each other, no sign of letting go anytime soon.
When Jaemin finally collected his thoughts and registered that he had finally kissed you, he fished out his phone from his pocket, a wide smile on his face, “Now about that photo.”
Tumblr media
The boys didn’t notice anything at first, the two of you acted rather normal around each other even after the fact that you’ve been together with Jaemin for a month now, though they did pick up subtle changes like how Jaemin would have a tiny heart at the back of his name on his coffee cups, then came the homemade cookies whenever your grandpa wanted a baking session with you, the sweet aroma of chocolate chip cookies filling the air of their dorm kitchen whenever Jaemin took them out from the container you had stored them in, things started to really get serious when Jaemin slept earlier, opting out of his gaming sessions just to wake up and cook you something for lunch, neatly stored in a bento box.
After a month or so of this, Jaemin finally asked you over for dinner, just the two of you and some sushi he had bought from your favourite Japanese place, you knew what dating an idol would be like, so you assured him that you didn’t mind having a date in his living environment, on the plus side, you could look into his life clearly, no more the days of trying to gather as much information of him as possible through the confines of your phone screen.
“Where are the boys?” you asked as you removed your shoes, stepping into a very homey place, from the way they decorate and place things, this was much more of a home than a dorm house.
“I told them to go out for dinner with some of the WayV members, it’d be weird to have them looking at us on an official date, and I’d like to talk to you without the fear of Jisung burning down the kitchen a few feet away.”
“Come on, it can’t be that bad,” you questioned as you took out the boxes of sushi, inhaling the delicious smell of your favourite dishes.
“He once asked me if you needed to wash vegetables with dish soap.”
“No way.”
“Way. I don’t even know what went through his mind that moment. Let me open the boxes, you go can pick out a movie for us.”
You laughed and shook your head at disbelief, imagining the scene in your head as you picked out a movie on Netflix, playing Monster Inc.
“What are you? A five year old?” Jaemin teased as he placed down the many boxes of sushi, just realising that he probably ordered too much.
“You signed up for the full package and that includes the immature disney loving side, do you wish to have a refund?” you joked as you grabbed a pair of chopsticks, popping one whole sushi into your mouth, making your cheeks full, emitting a coo from Jaemin instantly.
“If I get to see this everyday? Not a chance,” Jaemin said as he poked your cheek.
You focused on enjoying your food and the movie, trying your best not to laugh with your mouth full, but little did you know, Jaemin was staring at you the whole time, if he wasn’t smiling like a dork because of how you were trying your hardest to not laugh while eating, he’d be sneaking a photo or two of you with your biggest smile, one that is quite a rare view to him, the way your eyes light up, and your cheeks become round, and a little bit of teeth showing in between your plump pink lips, he couldn’t get enough of how perfect you look right now, and your sweater paws only make you even more irresistible in his eyes.
When the movie got emotional, you had unintentionally leaned into his embrace as you chewed on your california roll silently, doe eyes watching the scene in front of you. Jaemin took this chance and kissed the corner of your lips, stealing your attention for a quick second, before telling you to get back to the movie, silently enjoying the feeling of basking in your warmth as he takes a sip from his iced green tea.
There was still a bit of food left, guess he’ll just have to heat it up for tomorrow’s breakfast, unless Jisung gets hungry in the middle of the night, again. When the movie ended, you had an expression on your face that Jaemin hasn’t seen before, but when you started speaking, he realised that he had just been allowed deeper inside your heart.
“When I was in high school, I dated this guy for around 4 years, I thought we’d end up together until the end and whatnot, until I realised that the end for him and I was when he needed to leave for college in another country, we tried the long distance thing, but he fell out of love, so yeah, that’s how it ended, it’s been more than a year now, I’ve moved on, but at that time, I just felt this uncertainty that I didn’t want to confront at that time, but I realised that, you’re different Na Jaemin, I lo-
“Wait! Let me say it first, I’ve been dying to say it,” Jaemin said as he clamped a hand over your mouth.
“I love you, princess, from the bottom of my heart, and I’m not leaving you, so you better not try to get rid of me.”
“I love you too, drama king.”
Jaemin let out a chuckle before pouncing on you with a big fat kiss, giving you smooches all over your face before kissing you seriously this time, the slight bitter taste of green tea invading your taste buds, you could feel Jaemin smiling into the kiss, which made you smile as well, the butterflies in your stomach going wild, kisses with Jaemin always made you feel giddy inside, like Jaemin whenever he was on a sugar rush, every feeling maximised whenever his lips touch yours.
The two of you were still smiling when you broke off for air, but the clock on the wall broke your trance, telling you that it was time to head home before the last bus. You got up and packed away the leftover sushi, telling Jaemin to put them in the fridge before getting a bag to clean away the empty boxes, when you started collecting your things, Jaemin stopped you.
“Hey, what’s the rush? Why are you leaving so soon?”
“The last bus leaves in 15 minutes, I have to get to the station now.”
“It’s late, come on, stay the night, we could continue where we left off” Jaemin said in his baby voice, a pout on his face, knowing that you won’t be able to resist him.
“I’d love to, Jae, but the boys will be home soon, I don’t want to make them uncomfortable, especially Jisung, you room with him, remember?”
“I’ll just call Hendery and tell him to take Jisung to the his dorm, I bet Jeno and Renjun would follow suit, they already can’t stand us in the cafe, they wouldn’t want to overhear us,” Jaemin said as he slid a hand up your shirt, caressing your heated skin, his large eyes pleading you.
“Okay, fine, but I’m leaving before they come back tomorrow, okay?”
“Don’t worry, it’s the weekend, they won’t be back anytime soon. There’s a new toothbrush and a fresh towel in the cupboards, and use the skincare labelled with Nana, I’ll come to you after I make the call.”
You freshened up in the bathroom, surprised to see he had a very complete skincare routine, heading to his room to slip out of your dress into the comfort of one of Jaemin’s t shirts that you recognise from one of his schedules, the shirt ending just above your knee, it was oversized on him, so it looks even bigger on you. You heard the tap running in the bathroom you had just came out from, giving you some time to look around Jaemin and Jisung’s room, looking at photos of the boys since pre debut times, cooing at how adorable they look when they were kids, as well as the more recent photos of them, Jaemin just got more and more handsome as the years went by. A pair of arms on your waist and a kiss under your ear, caught you by surprise, turning back to see Jaemin’s beautiful bare face.
“You should walk louder next time.”
“Your scared face was cute though, I think I’ll keep doing that.”
“Meanie.”
“But you still love me.”
“Unfortunately, yes,” you said before laughing at Jaemin’s offended expression, but let out a yelp when he scooped you in his arms, carrying you to his bed before laying on top of you, his elbows propped up beside your head to not  squish you.
“You look really good in my shirt,” Jaemin said as he dips his head down to scan your figure.
“Really? Wait till it’s on the floor,” you said as you trailed a leg up his thigh, getting dangerously close to the rising tent in his sweats.
“Getting bold, aren’t we?”
“You started the fire, Jaemin, why? Too hot to handle for you?” that was the last struck to his ego before Jaemin takes the initiative to do as you say, slipping off his shirt off of you and onto the ground, sitting up to admire your bare beauty as his fingers slowly trace your curves, goosebumps rising in his wake.
“Even more beautiful from what I’d imagined.”
Jaemin leaned down to engulf your nipple in his mouth, the warm wet feeling of his tongue flicking against your once cold nubs making your head spin from the sudden pleasure, his other hand reaching up to play with the other one, rolling your nipple in between pads of his fingers, eyes wide in astonishment as he takes in the way your face contorts in pleasure, breathless moans of his name falling from your lips like a mantra.
Jaemin moves down southwards to your core, gently prying your legs open before asking you if you wish to continue, you let out a breathless yes and nudged his head closer to your core, making him chuckle at how much you adore his touch. Jaemin gets to work immediately, lapping up your soaked slit before giving a few kitten licks to your clit right after his fingers successfully found your sensitive bundle of nerves.
Your moans started getting louder as you curled your fingers in Jaemin’s locks, trying to stable yourself when he dipped his tongue into your warm velvety walls, Jaemin’s only goal tonight is to worship you like the queen you are, putting your pleasure as priority.
Once your walls started opening up to the intrusion, Jaemin slipped two fingers inside of you, curling into your roof, trying to locate your sweet spot, a cry from you signaled him that he had found it, and began thrusting his fingers into you at a faster pace, slipping a third finger into the mix, a smile gracing his lips when he heard a whimper from you.
Jaemin halted all movements and slipped his fingers out, quickly taking off his clothes, you opened your eyes to see why Jaemin had stopped, only to see his cock standing tall against his abs, a drool worthy sight. You were going to sit up and return the favour, but Jaemin stopped you.
“I want our first to be together, maybe next time, princess?”
“Okay,” you said as you leant back into the bed, spreading your legs wider for Jaemin, a hand tracing his muscles, fingers dipping into every curve and nudge, driving Jaemin crazy under your teasing touch. Jaemin shook his head slightly to focus on the task at hand, he could always ask you to do this again later, but he can’t afford to screw up the first time.
Jaemin took your hand that was palming his abs in his, holding it as he asks you one last time, “We could stop if you need me to.”
“I want this, Jaemin, I want all of you,” you said as you looked into his eyes, showing him that you meant every word you said.
“Okay, tell me if anything hurts,” Jaemin reminded you before slipping inside of you inch by inch, penetrating your walls bit by bit felt so good, he could’ve came on the spot if he wasn’t concentrating. Jaemin ceased all movements when he bottomed out, littering kisses and whispers of sweet encouragements as you adjust to his size, his thumbs smoothing out the crease of your brows.
After a minute or two, you told Jaemin to move, finally adjusting to his size, he was significantly bigger and longer than your ex, reaching undiscovered parts inside you as he started his shallow thrusts, not wanting to hurt you, you could feel every vein that’s mapped on his length, the veins dragging against your smooth walls felt magnified to you, perhaps it’s just been a long time since you had any physical intimacy, but to you, Jaemin made you feel like it was your first time all over again.
Slowly, all the pain faded, and it was being replaced by a shocks of pleasure as Jaemin thrusted inside of you faster, legs looped around his waist to allow him to have easier access, the position allowing Jaemin to thrust into your sweet spot as Jaemin’s hand held onto yours, not letting go. You could feel the coil in your stomach starting to wound tighter.
“Jaemin, faster, please,” you spluttered out between moans of his name.
Jaemin immediately obliged, angling your hips higher to thrust into you harder and faster, snapping his hips against yours, making your toes curl as you let out a scream of his name, fueling his desire to help you reach your high. You could feel Jaemin’s tip hitting your sweet spot repeatedly, your hand that was clasped in his was digging crescents into his palm, but Jaemin didn’t mind, in fact, he secretly loves the mixture of pain and pleasure he’s feeling, he moves his other hand that was holding onto your hips to your clit, rubbing circles on your bundle of nerves.
The stimulation on your clit by Jaemin’s strong fingers was the last push that made the coil in your abdomen snap, eyes rolling into your head as your back arched into Jaemin’s embrace, your sensitive nipples grazing his as you let out a silent scream, tears brimming your eyes from oversensitivity. Jaemin snaps a few more thrusts before reaching his high, immediately switching to a sloppy pace, careful not to drive you into overstimulation as he paints your walls white, his cum warm inside you.
When Jaemin finished, he gently pulled out as he coos at you, your face set in this beautiful afterglow as you tried to control your breathing, your eye lids fluttered shut from the exhaustion. Jaemin gets up from the bed, but was pulled back by a weak tug of your hand.
“I need to run you a bath, princess, I’ll be right back,” Jaemin said as he gently removed your hand and placed it on the bed, heading to the direction of the bathroom, coming back to you not long after, carrying you into the tub of warm water.
When you settled into the tub with Jaemin, you had on a serene expression, eyes glossy as you leant into his touch.
The two of you washed each other off slowly, getting shy when Jaemin touches your breasts once more under different conditions, making you heat up and bury your head in his shoulder. About an hour later, the two of you had to get out before your skin gets wrinkly, Jaemin wraps you in a fluffy towel before he drains the water, making sure you’re warm.
You padded back into his room, slipping under the thick blanket, Jaemin joins you soon after, leaning down to kiss you with his arms holding him up, his necklace dangling onto your collarbone. You toyed with his necklace before he had the chance to lean back, kissing him again.
You continued toying with his necklace as he spoons you, distracting him from his much needed sleep. Jaemin chuckles at how you’re observing the charm, reaching behind his neck to unclasp it, putting it on you instead.
“Here you go, now go to sleep, princess, and just ask next time, anything that’s mine is yours.”
“I was just looking.”
“Right... Goodnight, princess.”
“Night, Jaemin,” you replied before closing your eyes, the metal warm against your heart.

Arielle’s PoV:-
You’re reading your 18th, well actually what seems like the 100th text book when someone knocks on your bedroom door. You answer with a more irritated tone then you meant.
"Hey, you okay?" The door opens to reveal Sienna with two mugs in her hands.
"Yeah...”, you try to smile but even you know it doesn't quite reach your eyes.
"You don't seem okay though," Sienna says as she comes inside and hands you a mug. You look inside the mug to see what's in it. "I made us some hot chocolate."
You smile, accepting your cup with a genuine thank you as you move, making space for Sienna to sit.
"So what is it?" Sienna asks sitting beside you.
You shake your head, just thinking about the case makes your head spin. "Just a patient’s case. I’ve been running test after test but every result was negative.", you sigh, "and the patient happens to be a major asshole to say the least.", You smile sadly.
"Is it the P. I. T. A?" She asks.
"P. I. T. A?"
"Pain in the ass," she laughs, so do I.
"Oh yeah… Danny mentioned that earlier. That name fits him perfectly!" I respond laughing.
"So what do you think he has?"
"I don't know anymore," you sigh again, "I ran almost as many tests as possible."
"I'm not any expert but maybe if the two of us try to find it, it'll be easier?"
You look at her a bit surprised, "You'll spend your free time diagnosing my patient?"
She smiles at me, "Of course. That's what friends are for right? To help you."
You look at her with a grateful smile. "Thank you."
"You can thank me with strawberry glazed doughnuts once we're finished with this.”, she replies with a silly wink.
"Deal."
You spent the next thirty minutes discussing the symptoms as you catch her up with the diseases you've managed to ruled out.
In between, you notice Sienna acting a bit weird. But whenever you try to bring it up, she deflects your question so you decide not to press further.
Another half an hour goes by with Sienna’s weird antics and you decide you’ve had enough. You close your book and turn towards Sienna. She tries to act like she doesn’t notice you looking at her but eventually she looks up.
"What is it, Sienna? I can tell you want to ask me something but you’re not.”, you say.
"Uh-what?" she asks nervously, her eyes darting around everywhere but you.
"I don't know what you’re talking about."
"Don't lie, Si!," you narrow your eyes.
But she doesn’t budge. You keep asking her until she finally accepts.
“Come on Si, no secrets between us right?”
"Okay fine!... you’re hiding something, Ari,", shesays catching you off guard.
"I-Me? I'm not hiding anything," you try to laugh it off.
Now it's her turn to narrow her eyes. "You are! See, you’re behaving really weird."
"I'm not behaving weird," you oppose.
"You are. And don't you dare deny it again.”, she says in a serious tone.
"You can talk to me, you know that right?” Her voice changes to the caring and concerned tone reserved for her closest friends.
You ponder for a minute, whether or not to tell her. You’ve shared so many secrets with Sienna before, you know she's your best friend and that you trust her completely.
Before you know it, you start blurting out everything. From how Dr. Ramsey assigned you the case, to how he wouldn’t reassign him to someone else, and then your confrontation which was probably the most idiotic thing you could have done. Then how you both shouted at each other, you completely blanking out at the fact that he was your supervisor and could pull you from the program the next second if he wished, and how that lead to triggering a panic attack, then lastly…
“I don’t know how, our faces were mere inches apart, breathing ragged, and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing-“ You throw your hands up, cutting yourself off as you jump up and pace around the room.
“I mean I could have kissed him for God’s sake! What was I even thinking?! If it weren’t for my pager I don’t know what I would’ve done…”
“Woah, calm down Arielle. You need a break.” She makes you sit down and drink a glass of water, waiting until you’ve calmed down a bit.
“Now, tell me what else happened.”
“What?! Nothing else happened!” How Sienna knows you so well eludes you, nonetheless you try to hide it.
“Something else happened, or else you wouldn’t be spiraling this much. I know you Ari, you always have a cool head under any circumstance.”
You sigh, knowing there’s no use in hiding it. “Well I did see something…”
“Go on.”, she says urging you,
“Well it all started after the whole almost kiss thing, my brain was like scrambled eggs and my shift had already ended so I took my car and drove around until I realised I had no idea where I was, and to top that disaster off I was starving…”
———————A few hours before———————
“Ugh, I think I drove all the way to the other side of town. And I’ll have to drive all the way back to the apartment and then start research for Nigel’s treatment again. And I’m hungry because instead of eating lunch, I decided to unleash my wrath of Dr. Terminator. Ohh, can this day get any worse-“ In the midst of your little blabbering session, you spot a classy French cafe across the street.
“Well at least a day this bad always has room for improvement, and right now I’m starving.”, you park your car and head inside.
The smell of roasted coffee and baked buttery goods hits your senses the moment you enter the cafe. The serenity is a nice change of pace compared to always busy and bustling Edenbrook, dimly lighted and decorated with beautiful vintage items.
“At least I won’t bump into anyone here that I know.”, you think as you stand in the queue.
You decide to order a vanilla frappe with drizzled salted caramel and go for a regular chocolate doughnut to satisfy your sweet tooth. After the barista brings your order, you move towards a nice secluded corner and sit down at the table.
You slowly finish your doughnut and coffee, savouring the taste as you gaze out the French style window. You’re about to dispose of your trash when a familiar sweater shirt catches your eye.
“No way…” As you hide your face with a medical journal which you randomly fished out of your purse, you peek over the top to see Dr. Ramsey sitting across…
“Is that Dr. Emery?”, your mind recalls the time when you saw them in a patient’s room, quite cozy with each other. And now they sit a few tables away from you, talking as her hand is over his. You pretend to read your journal as you watch both of the doctors get up and throw away the remains. You follow pursuit and slowly exit the cafe making sure they don’t notice. You stand at the side of your car door and watch as they both edge closer and closer, her hand now on his jaw. Their faces are barely an inch apart now, as he leans in to close the distance.
“That’s- I can’t-“
Not being able to look at them, you get in your car, slamming the door and speed away as fast as you possibly can, ignoring the tears that brim in your eyes.
————————end of flashback———————
”Oh Arielle…..I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright.”, you assure her when pretty much everything going on in your life is anything but alright. She gives you a look.
“I- okay well there’s nothing I can do about it, and it’s not like anything would have happened, it was merely a stupid crush.”, you reply wondering whether you’re trying to convince Sienna or yourself. A long but comfortable silence passes, you both just sit and immerse in everything you’ve just blurted out.
"How are things between you and Wayne?", you say desperate for a topic change.
"It's as usual I guess?" she says now as gloomy as me. "We haven't had a proper conversation in a while."
You try to comfort your best friend as you mentally curse the idiot.
"He's an idiot, Si, " you tell her. "If he can't value you, he's not worth it Si."
"He was not always this way you know... We've had happy days. But ever since I started my residency he became... distant."
You put your hand on top of hers in a comforting manner and give her an understanding smile.
"You can always talk to me about it, Si. You know that right?"
She nods and shoots me a smile, a sad one, nonetheless a smile. That’s a slight improvement.
We talk about our messes of relationships for a bit more before Sienna decides we had enough gloom and doom and it was time to make some happy memories.
“Okay, what did you have in mind?”, you ask.
A grin forms on her face as she tucks her knees in and speaks, "Why did the Dalmatian go to the eye doctor?"
“Medical joke hmm?” She nods and nudges me to try to answer. After thinking for a moment, I shrug.
"Because he kept seeing spots.", she says following with a fit of laughter. The joke isn’t even that funny but even you end up laughing your heart out. That's the thing with best friends, everything becomes a thousand times better when they’re by your side.
"Oh-" Sienna tries to say recovering from her previous laughter session, "There's another one."
"What did one tonsil say to the other tonsil?"
"Umm...What?" you ask when you fail to find an answer.
"Get dressed up, the doctor is taking us out!" We both break into another fit of laughter, laughing till tears form in the corner of your eyes.
You wipe tears from your eyes, still smiling broadly.
Your own reflection catches your eye in the mirror. Your balayage hair is now slowly falling out from the messy bun you tied up before, your eyes now have bags in addition to your dark circles and lastly you look like a zombie with your smeared makeup.
“I look like a hot mess.”
Sienna laughs. “Well I have a night shift today so I’ll look worse than you after it.
You join her in another wave of laughter until Sienna’s phone goes off from her room.
You watch her as her eyes light up and then morph into worry as she looks at herself. You give her a look.
“Oh uh… Danny said that he would give me a lift to my shift and stop by to get coffee.”, she shouts as she rushes into her room. You chuckle watching her frantically trying to make herself presentable as she grabs her bag and heads downstairs.
“Bye Si! I’ll see you later-“ She’s already run off. With a smile, you head towards your room for a bath, dinner and then a date with more textbooks.

casa de dulce. - prologue; part one.
Raphael Castañeda may be a lot of things, but he never expected that a petite Political Sciences student would become his roommate and a person who'd make his sweet life even sweeter.
prologue. - part one.
"Order for table 26! Takeout!" A click of the bell, pressing numbers on the counter, proceeding to take the next order, creating their orders, calling them, and repeat. This was Raphael Castañeda's usual routine in his coffee shop that he named "Casa de Dulce" or House of Sweetness. The name was coined in his high school days, dreaming to take up culinary arts. He is currently taking up the course in St. Dominic Institute, the best university in the area, and in his second year; a vacant building space near the school was gifted to him by his parents in his eighteenth birthday, but it's his allowance that got him to where it is today. It's a hit in the area since it's nearby a train station, a lot of schools are around, and office buildings as well. They find Raphael's desserts and pastries enticing, in which he always gets flustered when they compliment him face-to-face. 'There was still something missing,' he often thinks, 'and I don't know what it is.'
He doesn't really know that the answer to his thoughts came inside his café with a chime to the bell, although this setting is more of a cliché perspective. The wide-eyed girl, with medium length brown hair and round frames sitting on her nosebridge, looked really tired and wary of her surroundings that she kept looking around, clenching on her luggage tightly until she reached the counter. She was unfamiliar, he thought, probably someone new.
His train of thoughts is interrupted when it was her turn to order, but rather he became momentarily flustered at how her brown orbs scanned the menu, as if she was trying to memorise its entirety. "Dine in, please. A strawberries-and-cream frappuccino, the tallest cup, and half of a whole NY cheesecake."
Raphael's eyes widened at the peculiar order. Was she serious. . . ? "Sorry, I didn't get the last part. How many slices of cheesecake?"
"Half of a whole." She confirms. "I haven't gotten a wink of sleep as class starts the day after tomorrow, and my parents only let me out last night. I just arrived."
"Oh, really?" He hums, punching her order. "Do you want espresso shots to come with your frappe? I could arrange for that." The brunette shook her head and formed an X-sign with her arms. "I do not handle my caffeine well." She giggles, taking out her credit card. "I'd rather run on sugar rush than on a caffeine boost, I guess?"
Usually tired people wouldn't pass up the idea of a booster in their drink but somehow she declines it. That made Raphael curious in a way, but then as he swiped down her card he could really sense the tiredness in her voice. "What's the day today again? I lost track."
"It's a Saturday, ma'am. . . . what's your name?"
"Ion. To spell it, I-o-n." He faintly blushes at how seemingly innocent her tired voice is, while writing her name down the cup. "Your order will be up in a few. Please be comfortable here, and thank you for choosing Casa de Dulce."
The girl gave him a grin before settling down on one of the window seats. He found her to be quite odd, stealing glances at her whenever he can while making her order, plating four slices of cheesecake in a large platter, even putting fresh strawberries on top of each, before chiming the bell, signaling that her order is ready.
Perhaps he would like to admit to himself that he finds her adorable savouring the cheesecakes and the frappe. It shows a bit of her personality, from his perspective. From swinging her legs in every bite, the excited sounds she makes as she pops a strawberry in her mouth. A part of him hopes they go to the same university, but there are a lot of universities in this area. While his café is not yet busy because of the early time, (5:45, he notes as he glances from the clock) he didn't realise he was still staring at the cheesecake girl.
"I'll just make more cakes at the back." He glances at his coworker before entering the kitchen. It might be enough to clear his mind.
His phone buzzes in his apron before preparing what he has to do, stopping him in his tracks. It was one of his older friends, Charlie, who was overseas at the time due to work, and thus he answers the call. "What's up?" He asks, rubbing the sleepiness off his eyes. "Remember the bet we agreed on and I won?" The other line instantly said.
"Yeah, I do." He mumbles. "You told me you'll probably be needing my help when the time comes. What do I have to do now?"
"Well, there's this cousin of mine. She'll attend your uni, first year in Political Sciences. She could use my apartment but I forgot to give the key to her, and I have to be away for like, 6 more months."
"Uh huh. So what do I do. Break in?"
"No, idiot." Charlie sighs through the phone. "I want to ask you if you could take her in while I'm gone. Just six months. I'd even pay you if needed."
"Are you serious? You used female pronouns so of course it's a girl. You know how I already told you guys I never let girls stay, or even come, into my apartment."
"It's just for a while. She can cook and tend to herself, you don't need to babysit her. I'm just asking you to let her stay." His friend tries to persuade. "She's a total introvert despite her sugar rush, and if you had anyone over they wouldn't even know thst she's there. Please?"
"Sigh. Give me her name and phone number."
"Yes!" The worried tone of Charlie's voice became a relieved one. "I'll text you. Thanks a lot."
"Yeah, yeah, sure. I owe you big time anyway."
It was quite true, the older became the latter's emotional support and was one of his first friends.
midget brother figure:
her name's marion, eighteen, really pretty. you have to get through me first if you like her, though! her phone number's ****-***-****.
giant younger brother:
i'm not interested in relationships, you know that. but thanks anyway. less hassle
Typing the phone number and dialing, the other person picked it up immediately. There was both a sense of familiarity and unfamiliarity with her voice. "Hello, who is this?"
"I'm your cousin's friend, mayhaps he entrusted you to my care. Where would you like to meet?" He responds rather immediately. She hums, trying to remember her location. "I'm in Casa de Dulce Café. Is that near your location, or should I move to a different place?"
"No! It's okay. It's convenient." He steps out of the kitchen. "Perhaps you could tell me which table you're in?"
"Hm, table. . . 13." She quips. He scanned for the location of the table in his shop, and found himself walking towards an unexpected person.

“You have been selected for a note”
Imagine an app that can be used to get back at people that did you or anyone you love wrong. Lim Seulgi finds the app after getting herself in some trouble. She uses the app to help her classmates, friends, and family. But while helping she falls for the schools new Dandy Boy Kim Seungmin.
Genre: Fluff & Angst
Warnings: mentions of smoking

The warm sunlight peered through Seulgi’s curtains. Sleeping soundly with blankets wrapped up towards her shoulders, snuggling in her pillows. The scene felt comfortable until her alarm on her phone woke her up.
“Aish...” she said as she rose up from her bed and turned off alarm. She groggily got out of bed and went to the bathroom.
She brushed her teeth before she did anything else. As she was brushing her teeth, her phone rang on the counter of the bathroom.
“Hello?” She responded and stopped brushing her teeth.
“Wow I’m glad your actually awake instead of sleeping! I’ll be there in 20 minutes, be quick before I leave you to walk alone! Anyway bye!”
“Yah Lee Daehwi!” She said and looked back at her phone to see that he hung up. “What am I going to do with him?!”
Minutes later, Seulgi finished getting ready and head into the kitchen.
“I didn’t have time to fix you and your brother breakfast. So I hurried to the convenience store down the street and grabbed bread for the both of you” Mrs.Lim said as she handed Seulgi a packet of bread.
“Thanks mom” she said as she handed the bread. “I’m guessing the cafe is really busy right now!”
“It is! Your dad asked me to help him with the orders since it’s getting too busy after some famous kpop star went to his cafe” Mrs.Lim said.
Seulgi heard her phone go off and grabbed it from her pocket.
Hwihwi {6:56am}: I’m outside. Come out.
“Bye mom I’m heading out now” she said as she grabbed her shoes from the door.
“Before you come home, stop by the cafe. Alright?”
“Alright. Bye mom!”
Seulgi opened the package of bread and took a bite and walked by Daehwi.
“Ah is that bread?” He asked and she nodded.
“Yeah my mom couldn’t prepare breakfast because she had to help dad at the cafe” she responded with another bite.
“Can I have a bite?”
In reaction, Seulgi moved the bread closer towards her so Daehwi won’t take it.
“No it’s mine! My mom bought it for Lim Seulgi, not Lee Daehwi!” She smiled teasingly at him and took another bite. Daehwi sighed and snatched the bread from her hands and ran off with the bread in his hands.
“YAH! LEE DAEHWI!”
Seulgi managed to catch up to Daehwi after a couple of blocks. She walked up to him and saw that he most of it, but a piece left.
“You ate most of it!” She said clearly shocked.
“Yep and it was very delicious!” He smiled smugly at her.
“That was supposed to last me until lunch and now I’ll have to be hungry all through class!” She whined as she tightened the grip on her backpack.
The two made it onto school grounds. Today marks their first day of freshman year of high school. Off to the side of the entrance were kids who weren’t in dress code or forgot parts of their uniforms.
“It’s the first day and kids already forgot to be in uniforms” she thought as she walked besides Daehwi into the school.
They both made it into their class and Daehwi sat behind Seulgi, while she sat in front of him.
“Seulgi-ah! How was your summer?” Kim Eunbi, a classmate of Seulgi asked.
“It’s was fine Eunbi-ah, I made a lot of money since the cafe was packed during the summer” Seulgi responded as she smiled at her.
“I heard! I heard your strawberry frappe and your peach frappe was the most popular during the summer. You have to take me to the cafe after school one day!” Eunbi whined as she shook Seulgi’s arm.
“Me too!” Daehwi chirped in as Seulgi glared at him. “Yah I said I’m sorry!”
“This school is nice. There’s a vending machine down the hall and there’s also a school store where you can buy snacks and ice cream. I also heard the school food is the best too!” Eunbi explained. “This school it’s just beautiful!”
Class soon started and Seulgi looked out the window. It’s been a habit of hers since middle school. Daehwi always told her that’s the reason why she doesn’t do as well on test, but she shrugged it off. Her stomach grumbles and immediately blamed Daehwi for what he did earlier. She sighed and went back taking notes. The bell rung for lunch and Seulgi and Eunbi walked out the classroom.
“I also heard about this girl who is just a year older than us. Rumors are that she’s a super rude and spoiled girl. Her parents own a few companies throughout Korea, making them the top 10 most rich people in Korea” Eunbi said as they walked to the cafeteria.
“She’s sounds tyrannical” Seulgi commented which made Eunbi giggle. Without looking she bump into someone.
“Watch where you’re going freshman!” A high pitched voice said. She looked up and saw the a girl glaring at her like she was someone on the bottom of her shoes. Seulgi looked at her name tag and read ‘Bae Soorin’
“That’s her!” Eunbi mouthed to Seulgi. Seulgi fixed her posture and smiled at her.
“I’m deeply sorry sunbaenim!” She said as she bowed.
Soorin scoffed, “you better be!”
Soorin soon walked off and Seulgi went back to being her nervous self. Eunbi then shook her shoulders.
“You did so good Seulgi-ah!” Eunbi said as she put her arm around her shoulders and walked the rest of the way to the cafeteria.
“Eunbi-ah lets go find a table to....” Seulgi said before she was tripped by a leg.
“Oh my bad I thought you were trash!”
Seulgi looked up and saw Jo Jaeeun. She didn’t know why Jaeeun hated her. She thinks one of the reasons is because she likes Daehwi and Seulgi is always hanging around him. But Eunjae hated Seulgi even before her and Daehwi were friends.
Seulgi just rolled her eyes and catched up to Eunbi. Soon after they got their lunch, they found an empty table that was besides Jaeeun and her friends.
“Why of all table?!” She thought and then went to eating her lunch. Daehwi soon came in the cafeteria with a bag.
“Daehwi what’s that?” Eunbi asked.
“I bought something for Seulgi!” He said and then gave her 3 packages of bread and a can of Coke. She looked up and saw Daehwi pouting at her.
“Daehwi-ah is very sorry for eating your bread!” He said trying to do aegyo.
“You’re forgiven, but never do that aegyo ever again!” Seulgi said as Daehwi smiled at her and sat besides her.
“Are we still on for that tradition today?”
“Always!”
“What tradition?” Eunbi asked.
“We’ll ever since we were young, we always went to this restaurant and ordered the same thing for years. The staff knows us very well and always have our usual table reserved for us on the first day!” Daehwi explained.
“I wish I could go, but I have babysit my baby cousin” Eunbi pouted as she mixed her food around.
“Maybe next time” Seulgi said as she patted her shoulder reassuringly. In the corner, Eunjae and her friends got up from their table and grabbed their trays.
“Daehwi! Wanna come with us to the courtyard? You can hang out with me too if you would like?” Jaeeun suggested as she smiled at Daehwi.
“No thanks I’ll like to stay with my friends” he said without a smile on his face and went back and turned back towards Eunbi and Seulgi. Jaeeun huffed angrily and stormed out the cafeteria.
“I already know she likes me, but I don’t like girls like her” he commented.
It was currently free time and Seulgi was currently walking around the school where she could see some students decided to stay inside, while some came outside to enjoy the sunlight. While sipping her can of coke, she ran into a group of people and spilled her coke on one of them.
“I’m so sorry!” She said as her eyes widened.
“Yah freshman do you want to die?” One of them asked.
“N-no!” She said as she tried to back up but they surrounded her. She studied them, it was obvious that she spilled coke on their leader and they were equally angry as him.
“Keep this as a warning!” He said while jabbing a finger into her shoulder and then pushing her down, while the others walked around her, intentionally stepping on her hand.
“Ow” she nodded as she studied her hand turning red and then massaged it from getting any redder.
“You really have a death wish today Seulgi?”
“It was on accident I swear!” She whined as she put her face in her hands.
“Well I heard about them. They’re a group of bullies that specifically target freshmen for some odd reason” he said. “And you might be their next victim.”
“I know. Eunbi told me they already got money today from the freshmen from last year.”
“Their leader is named Kim Euntae and he’s not a person to mess with” he added which made
Seulgi and Daehwi finished their meal, paid, and went their separate ways. Around this time wouldn’t be too busy, so Seulgi wouldn’t be too tired.
“Seulgi I’m so glad your here” Mr.Lim said as he went to retrieve something from the counter.
“I need you to go deliver this order” he said as he handed her a carrier with 4 drinks and a lemon tart.
“What happened to mom?” She asked.
“Shes out too” he said. “The address should be on one of the drinks. And please be safe!”
Seulgi grabbed the order and walked out the cafe and towards the direction of the address. She knew this route, it was a study group of college students who usually go to private rooms just for college students to study for exams or classes. All of a sudden she bumped into someone, spilling one of the drinks a little bit.
“I’m so sorry here!” She said to the boy and handed him some napkins.
“It’s fine!” He said with a smile, but Seulgi wasn’t buying it and wiped the stain on his shirt.
“It’s fine really!” He said as he stopped her hands. Seulgi blushes at the contact and hid her face.
“H-here!” She said as she handed him a complementary drink.
“Isn’t this for one of your customers?” He asked.
“No! It’s a free drink that my dad makes for regulars! Take it” she said. He accepted gratefully and took a sip.
“I-I have to go!” She said and ran off.
“Hmm who is she?” He wondered “and was she wearing a school uniform?”
After Seulgi finishes delivering the order. She walked by a karaoke room where Euntae and his group walked out of, obviously tired.
“Look who is it!” He said as he put an arm around her, which made her shocked. “Our little fishy!”
“Yah fishy! How about you treat us to snacks at the convenience store across the street. You could see we’re tired from dancing and signing” he said as he looked at her with a certain look in his stage.
“I-I don’t have money” Seulgi lied through her teeth, which one of his friends caught.
“Don’t lie to us! I heard you talking to that Eunbi girl that you made a lot of money over the summer” one of them said, which all of them turned to her with a glare.
“I guess. Just help yourselves” she sighed as they all walked over to the store.
At the end, Seulgi spent an unhealthy amount of money on snacks and a 2-hour time limit for them at a computer cafe. As she was walking, she felt her phone go off in her pocket. She grabbed it and unlocked it and an unfamiliar app popped up.
Would you like to install ‘Vengeance’ app?
|Yes| |No|
“Would it get some type of revenge on people?” She thought curiously and decided to click to install the app. When it finished downloaded she tried to click it but it wouldn’t open.
“Great now I have an app that won’t probably be deleted off my phone. Great” she sighed and walked the way back home.
The next day at school, Euntae and his group were waiting for Seulgi at the entrance.
“Yah fishy!” Euntae said as he approached her. Like always he put his arm around her, but this time more threatening.
“When the bell for lunch, I want you to meet us behind the school. Don’t be late” he said and then left, leaving her confused.
“W-why would they want me to meet them behind the school?” She thought.
Seulgi made it into class and sat down at her desk and Daehwi tap her on the shoulder.
“What did Euntae want?” He asked curiously.
“I don’t really know. He told me to meet him behind the school once the lunch bell rung” she said and that made Eunbi turn around scared.
“That’s the spot where they usually steal kids money!” She said.
“Or beat them up” Daehwi added, which made Seulgi more nervous.
“I’m just scared that they might do both to me” Seulgi confessed.
“Well I’ll be hiding somewhere just in case they start going into the danger zone with you” Daehwi said.
“Thanks Hwi, but I’ll be fine on my own” she said and smiled at him.
“Alright class settle down! I have an announcement” Mrs.Jung, their English teacher, said as she walked inside the classroom. The class grew silent and then turned their attention towards her.
“Today we have a new student today that just transferred!” She said. “Please come in!”
Soon a boy walked inside the classroom and Seulgi immediately recognized him. It was the boy she ran into yesterday when she was making that delivery. He then smiled towards the class and bowed.
“Hello I’m Kim Seungmin please take care of me!” He bowed and then stood up.
“Seungmin please take that empty seat beside Daehwi. Daehwi please raise your hand” Mrs.Jung said and Daehwi raised his hand. As Seungmin was sitting down, Jaeeun couldn’t help but stare at him.
“He’s totally my style! Forget about Daehwi!” She said as she smiled towards Seungmin.
English was over and the class had a little free time. Seulgi walked over to Seungmin and bowed at him. He looked up and immediately recognized Seulgi.
“You’re that girl from yesterday right?” He asked and she nodded at his question.
“Yes! I was wondering did you managed to get that coffee stain out of your shirt?” She asked and he chuckled at her question.
“Yeah, my mom managed to get it out right away and it luckily didn’t stain” he said as he smiled at her.
“Gosh. That smile!” She thought.
It was now lunch time and Seulgi walked behind the school to see Euntae and his group smoking cigarettes. Seulgi immediately choked at the fumes of the cigarettes.
“Ah look it’s our fishy!” He said as he approached her. He smelled heavily of the cigarettes.
“Why are you guys smoking at school? It’s completely against the rules and you can get expelled for smoking!” She asked as they all chuckled.
“Wow you’re such a goody two shoes!” He said as he rolled his eyes. “Can you hold this for me?”
Seulgi was confused on why Euntae wanted her to hold a lit cigarette. But she thought he had to tie his shoes and didn’t want to risk bruising a hole in his shoe. All of a sudden him and his group were yelling for a teacher. Which shocked Seulgi.
The gym teacher rushed over towards their yelling.
“What’s the matter?” Mr.Yoo asked.
“We caught this freshman smoking, we tried to stop her but she kept threatening us!” Euntae said as Seulgi was silent in shock. Seulgi threw down the cigarette and went towards Mr.Yoo.
“I-I wasn’t smoking! I-it was all them!” She said shaking her hand, but Mr.Yoo wasn’t buying it.
“Yah come with me Lim Seulgi” he said as his grip on her arm tightened.
Back in class the rumors about Seulgi were spreading around like wildfire.
“I heard Lim Seulgi in Class 2 was caught smoking behind the school by Euntae and Mr.Yoo” one girl said which caught Daehwi’s attention.
“I heard that she might get expelled. I overheard the principal yelling at her” another girl added into the gossip.
“Yah don’t spread lies!” Daehwi said which made all of them turn from gossiping.
“If you know Seulgi for years, like I do. You would know that she chokes at the smell of cigarettes. The smell makes her feel nauseous too” he said to them, while they quiet down. Eunbi then turned around to Daehwi.
“I bet it was Euntae and his friends. They like to blame others for what they did, so they can get away without consequences. And I guess Seulgi were their next targets” she said sadly.
In the office, Seulgi was in the meeting room with Principal Kang and counselor.
“You know this school has a reputation for being a nice and friendly school. But you smoking behind the school can taint that image for this school! What were you thinking?!” He asked yelling at her. Seulgi didn’t make eye contact, but the tears welling up in her eyes were slowly falling on her lap.
“Seulgi, we can get you out of this bad habit of smoking!” The counselor said as she looked at Seulgi with a pity look.
“It wasn’t me who smoked! It was Kim Euntae! Him and his friends were the ones smoking and they decided to frame me for it. Just smell their uniforms! It smells like it!” Seulgi said as the tears spilled from her eyes.
“Lies!” Mr.Kang said.
He then smoothed his suit and stood up, “Lim Seulgi I suggested you go home for the rest of the day. I’ll call your parents to pick you. And for your punishment. After school detention for the rest of the semester and you must clean the gym after the basketball boys finish their practices too.”
He then left with the counselor and left Seulgi in the room. She sobbed silently to herself in the room and she overheard Euntae bragging to his friends.
“I can’t believe they fell for that” he said as he laughed with his friends. “That’s what she gets for spilling her coke on my uniform and my new shoes”
She soon turned angry and glared at Euntae through the glass, even though he probably won’t turn towards her.
“W-what did he say?” She asked as she clenched his hands angrily. She then took out her phone and the Vengeance app was glowing and she was able to click it.
Will you be the Vengeance Master?

Seulgi looked back at Euntae and back to her phone. Without hesitation, she typed his name.

rest
Tumblr media
pairing: chan x reader
genre: fluff
au: cafe, college
warning: none
summary: rest was not in this boy’s vocabulary
a/n: reposted from my old blog!
you were an employee at the cafe near your university
let’s call it the district cafe
chessy huh
after your classes, you immediately clocked in and worked until 8 with small breaks to get some homework done
you would sometimes work overtime and on holidays as well
needed that extra cash cuz you’re a broke bitch lmao
many people thought working at a place where you would see your peers might be embarrassing for them
thinking that they’ll be teased for working at a small cafe
but you were different
you would see many familiar faces from uni that would greet you with smiles as they ordered their coffees and pastries
they wouldn’t have to look at your name tag to know who you were
“hey y/n! can i get the caramel macchiato and a strawberry shortcake?”
“of course!” you smiled back, punching in the order
your manager was happy to have you as an employee
seeing that you were the only reason people still come to the cafe
you were the nicest cafe worker they would have ever met, and would come back for more
no matter how busy the cafe got, you still had a smile on your face
you knew a lot of your regular’s orders, and would have it ready as soon as they walked in
“hello y/n, can i have-”
“matcha frappe with cheesecake? already done.” you interrupted, winking at them
they would stare at you with awe as they paid for the food, giving you a very generous tip
one friday night, the cafe was running a little slow
there was no one at the cafe
which was weird because fridays were usually the busiest
but maybe because it’s the fifa world cup playing on tv, people stayed inside all day munching on nachos and screaming at the screen
you didn’t mind it though
there were times you needed peace and quiet
especially when you needed to clean up the tables
you looked at the clock
“4 more hours until closing.” you said to yourself
“hey y/n, you should go home, it’s pretty slow.” your manager said, catching your attention
you noticed she was wrapped up in her coat with her bag over her shoulder
ready to go home
“why? we’re open for another four hours.”
“fifa’s on and south korea is playing their first game.”
you looked at your manager
“hey, how about you go home and watch the game? i’ll stay here until closing.” you proposed
“really? you’re willing to do that?” she said, looking at you in shock
you nodded, giving her a smile
“yes, now go home and relax!” you said as you lightly pushed her towards the entrance
“you’re definitely getting a raise next week.” she laughed as she walked through the door, making you smile as you shook your head
you sat down behind the counter in silence
pulling out your laptop as you powered it on, wanting to get some homework done
ten minutes passed by as the bell on the entrance door rang
pulling you away from your studies, you stood up to see the person approaching you
you don’t recognize him, but you still smiled as you greeted him
“welcome to the district cafe, how may i help you?”
he looked at you, smiling before ordering
“he’s attractive.” you thought to yourself, noticing his cute nose and dimples that were prominent on his face
“i’ll just have an americano.” he said as he brought his wallet out
“okay, one americano for?” you trailed
“chan.” he answered
“right, an americano for chan coming right up.” you softly said as he smiled at you
chan sat down at a table, pulling out his laptop and headphones
plugging it in the jack and placing the headphones on his head
you delicately made the americano to perfection
you would usually call his name out to tell him his order was ready
but since it was just the two of you
you decided to leave the counter and give it to him personally
he looked at you, giving you a thanks before averting his attention back to his laptop
an hour later, you noticed chan was blankly staring at his screen, his mouth slowly open
he would drop his head a few times before jumping up and putting his attention back on the screen
you chuckled to yourself as you got up to make another drink for him
you walked up to him and gave him the drink
he looked at you with worried eyes
“uh, i’m sorry, i don’t have enough money for another one.”
you smiled
“don’t worry. it’s on the house. i noticed you were getting a little tired.” you said, sliding the drink towards him
he thanked you again
you took your laptop from the counter and sat across from chan
“do you mind if i sit here?” you asked
he shook his head
“nah, not at all, it’d be nice to have some company.” he said, giving you a small smile
which made your heart do a little flip
for the next hour, you typed away on your laptop as you flipped through your notebook as chan clicked and dragged his mouse, occasionally hitting a few keys
as soon as you were done, you looked at chan
he noticed eyes looking at him, so he looked up, locking eyes with you
he slid his headphones off
your eyes widened
“sorry to bother you, but i’m just curious, what are you working on?” you said, immediately becoming shy
he chuckled
“it’s fine. i was just working on a song. i’m a music production major.” he said, scratching the back of his neck
“can i listen? uh, that’s if you’re okay with that.” you blushed
“you’re in luck, i just finished!” he beamed, gesturing you to sit next to him
“wow his smile makes him even cuter.” you thought to yourself
you got up and took a sit next to him as he slid over to give you room
you looked at his laptop, looking at the different audio clips that were stacked on top of each other
you put the headphones on as you pressed play
listening to the music, you enjoyed the instrumentals as you bobbed your head to the beat
then you heard a voice singing
it sounded angelic, soothing really
“is that you singing? it’s beautiful.” you admitted, making chan blush a little as he smiled
the song ended, and you were left in amazement
“that was spectacular chan!” you told him
“really? thank you so much.”
and for the rest of the night you and chan got to know each other more
telling him about your major and whatnot
the both of you had laughs
he even offered to help you clean up
and even though you tried to refuse
his cute begging suddenly became your weakness as you gave in
you had a great time with chan
until it was closing time
“thank you for keeping me company while i worked.” chan said
“it was nothing.” you smiled as you slung your backpack over your shoulders as you closed the cafe
ever since that night, chan would come into the cafe and worked on his music until it was closing time
and you would do your homework with him
getting up on rare occasions whenever a customer or two walked in
there would also be times where you would have to wake chan up
telling him to go home and rest
but he was stubborn, telling you he’s going to keep working until the cafe closed
and you can’t really fight this cute guy
nor your rapidly beating heart
not only did chan become a regular
but he became a good friend
a few weeks later, the fifa world cup ended
which means the district cafe became busier
but it didn’t stop chan from walking in and ordering his usual americano and sitting down to work
he would notice how you would smile to every customer as you talked to them
and your small conversations with them
chan though you were cute and kind
and developed a huge crush on you
one day, you were working and before chan came in around his usual time, you had a customer who was friends with him
“vanilla bean latte for jisung!” you called out
jisung approached the counter, grabbing his drink
“thank you..” he said before looking at your name tag
“y/n - wait! you’re y/n?!” he exclaimed
“y-yes?” you responded, feeling a little nervous
“i’m friends with chan, and boy does he talk about you a lot.”
“he does?” you blushed
“yeah! he keeps talking about this cute cafe worker that he’s practically whipped for. no wonder his lyrics have been so sappy lately.”
“he likes me?” you asked him
“big time. anyways i’ve got to go, it was nice meeting you y/n.” he waved, leaving the cafe
as if he didn’t just expose his best friend
you blushed at the thought of chan liking you
you went through the rest of your shift with an extra bright smile of your face
chan walked in, which made your heart go !!!!
“hey y/n!” he smiled
which made you smile
“hey chan, let me guess, americano?”
he nodded as he placed the usual five dollar bill in front of you
as you entered his order, you looked at him
noticing the dark circles around his eyes
“chan, when’s the last time you’ve slept?” you said, catching his attention
he looked at you
“how long ago was january?”
you looked at him with wide eyes
“bang chan!” you said as you got started on his drink
“oops?” he nervously chuckled
“seriously, you need to rest. how could i have not known you haven’t been sleeping after you leave the cafe?” you said as you placed the lid on the cup, giving it to him
hours passed by as the cafe slowed down to the point where no one was coming in
and yet there chan was, sitting on his laptop
you sighed as you went into the back to grab your things
until you heard a loud thump
you quickly walked to the front to see chan’s head on top of the table
“oh my god.” you said, running towards him and taking the seat next to him
you shook chan a few times
“wake up! bang chan!”
he managed to lift his head up and leaned onto you
placing his head on your shoulder while asleep
your eyes widened as you felt his heavy head relax onto you
then you heard muttering
you turned your head to see bang chan slightly open his mouth
“y/n...y/n...why do you have to be so pretty?”
you almost choked on your own spit
“y/n, don’t smile at that handsome guy, smile only at me.” he softly said, sounding jealous
which made you smile to yourself
“shut up jisung, i’m not whipped for y/n. it’s not my fault i like her so much.”
you sighed
it was almost closing time
and you had to go home
“bang chan!” you yelled in his ear
scaring him as he jumped
“i’m awake!”
you shook your head
“how long was i out?” he asked
you smirked
“long enough to talk about your feelings for me in your sleep.” you said
making chan’s eyes pop out of his head
“what?! uh, y/n, i can explain-” he started
you interrupted him by planting your lips on top of his
chan melted into the kiss, smiling as he kissed you back
you pulled back
“don’t worry chan, i like you too - a lot actually.”
“you do?”
“yes you dummy. now can we get up because it’s closing time.”
chan looked outside the windows to see it filled with darkness
“only if i can crash at your dorm.”
“of course, let’s go so you can sleep.” you demanded
“yes ma’am.” he said as he got up, planting another kiss on your lips
“oh, and chan?”
“yeah?”
“you taste like americano.”

hey rudy since you're accepting prompts for pride month, yay!!, how about our gang from ftgf going to pride together? (also if saia is there i will send you virtual fruit baskets, i miss them)
Of course! Here you go!
“Which one do you think I should wear as a cape?” Alec asked, holding the trans flag in one hand and the gay flag in the other.
Magnus hummed, tapping his chin. “The trans flag goes with your outfit. And…” He wiggled his fingers, conjuring a rainbow headband. “You can wear this.”
“But does it go with my outfit? I am not changing these pants.”
“Pride flags are exempt from colour co-ordinating rules in a pride march, that’s like the second rule of being queer.”
Alec shrugged, putting the headband on. “What’s the first rule?”
“You have to do karaoke at least one time.” Magnus replied, making Alec snort.
Magnus smirked, looping his belt through his tailored pants. They were a deep royal blue, paired with a purple tank top. Alec had helped him put the pink streaks in his hair last night, and so when he looked in the mirror he looked like a very stylish bi pride flag. Alec hadn’t gone fully themed, mostly because he was still excited about the pastel green shorts he’d found that fit him perfectly straight off the rack. He’d put a pastel blue tank top on with it with some white loafers and a white overshirt with little palm trees on them. He looked absolutely adorable, softer than usual, and Magnus couldn’t stop cuddling him. Once he’d done up his belt, slipping the buckle around to his hip as was his habit, he pulled Alec in for yet another cuddle, burying his face in the other man’s shoulder.
“You really like this outfit, huh?” Alec was smiling into Magnus’ neck, nuzzling up behind his ear.
“I do. Pale colours suit you. I just want to buy you frappes and take you to the beach.”
“Maybe later,” Alec laughed, pulling away. “I said we’d meet Maia and Simon at Fresh and…” He checked his watch, “happy hour just started so you know they’re already there.”
Magnus tucked his wallet into his back pocket and nodded, conjuring a portal. “Fresh is the one around the corner from Raw, right?”
“Yeah, the one with the silver streamers hanging down.”
“Got it,” Magnus hummed, tugging Alec through the portal and into the alleyway behind Fresh. “You think we’ll be warm enough without jackets?”
Alec shrugged. “The booze will keep us warm.”
Magnus sighed melodramatically, and cupped Alec’s face in his hands. “I love you.”
“Shut up,” Alec laughed, squirming out of his hold. “You turned me into a lush.”
“That’s untrue, I offered to make you virgin cocktails from day one but no, you had to have ‘em dirty.”
Alec grinned, smacking Magnus’ ass. “I like a lot of things dirty.”
“Pride is a good look on you,” Magnus purred, “perhaps we’ll have to do a world tour of them. One every weekend all summer.”
“Not all of us have indestructible livers, babe.” Alec teased, taking Magnus’ hand as they wandered around the corner to meet their friends. “Not yet, anyway.”
Magnus hummed in agreement, butterflies in his stomach. Recently he and Alec had decided to look for ways to immortalise Alec. They were getting married in the autumn and Alec had insisted that he wanted their life together to go on as long as possible, whether or not that meant him outliving his family and friends. After long, emotionally intense discussions, Magnus had agreed to help make Alec’s life last as long as his. He couldn’t wait until they found a solution and they could start their endless married life together.
Maia and Simon were sat outside in the sun, Maia’s bare feet up on a chair opposite her with Simon rubbing her thigh, looking at her like she’d hung the stars, as always. Alec almost felt bad for interrupting them, but then Maia spotted him and waved him over, taking her feet off the chair and slipping them back into her sneakers.
“We’ve been saving you guys seats!” She said, standing up to give Magnus a hug and a kiss on the cheek. “Alec, you look so cute, I could eat you up like a marshmallow.”
“Figured I’d save the leather for later,” Alec teased, winking at Simon when his jaw dropped.
“Really?”
“No, Simon, I promise I’m not gonna come back in chaps and a harness for the night party.” Alec assured him, patting him on the shoulder.
Simon almost looked disappointed, which made Magnus cackle. “Is it really pride if no-one’s wearing a leather waistcoat, though?”
“You’ve got the abs to pull it off, you should wear one.” Magnus suggested, handing Alec a cocktail menu.
“Shit, you’re right. I should.”
“Don’t give him ideas,” Maia groaned, sitting herself in Simon’s lap. “I let you wear your pantastic t-shirt but I am not walking around with a leather daddy.”
“You think I could be a leather daddy?” Simon gasped, his eyes lighting up. “Baby, that’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
“If anyone’s the leather daddy here, it’s Magnus.” Alec insisted, putting his arm around his fiance’s shoulder.
“And on that note, I’m getting drinks,” Magnus snorted, ducking out from under Alec’s arm and pulling his wallet from his pocket. “Strawberry daiquiri?” He asked, pointing at Alec, who nodded. “Refills?”
“We’re good,” Simon assured him. Magnus hummed and headed for the bar, stretching his arms over his head. “For the record, I totally agree with you on the leather daddy thing. You need to make him wear tank tops more often, because holy shit, those arms!”
“I know, right?” Alec groaned, scooting his chair closer. “He doesn’t even work out, I hate him.”
“That’s all magic?” Maia gasped, craning her head to look at Magnus at the bar.
Alec shrugged. “Well, I mean… He does push-ups and Tai Chi, but come on. There’s no way he got those results just from that.”
“Bastard,” Simon hissed, sipping his cocktail, “who gave him the right to be that good looking, anyway?”
Maia laughed, winding their fingers together. “Babe, your crush is showing.”
“It’s not like I can blame him,” Alec looked over his shoulder, watching Magnus talking animatedly with the bartender. He smiled as he saw Magnus throw his head back laughing, his heart squeezing. “I am the luckiest.”
“Uhhh, that’s fake news, I think you’ll find I am the luckiest.” Simon insisted, making Maia roll her eyes.
“I swear if you two get drunk and start fighting over who’s luckier I am going to abandon you.” She warned, twisting to boop Simon’s nose. “Where are Clary and Izzy, anyway?”
“Clary had patrol until 4, and Izzy wanted to wait for her. She’s super on edge since that incident with those douchebags outside the institute last month.” Alec sighed, resting his elbows on the table.
Simon frowned, tightening his arms around Maia’s waist. “Did you manage to ID them off the security cameras?”
“No, they were wearing hoods.” Alec shrugged, running his nail along the line of the wood.
“It’s scary when that shit happens, but Izzy will regain her confidence.” Maia assured him, reaching over to pat his hand. “Hopefully today will help a little.”
Clary and Izzy had been coming home from a date a few weeks ago, when they got harassed and threatened by four mundane men. They couldn’t use their shadowhunter skills to fight back because of the Accords, and the two women had only just managed to reach the institute before the men could catch up to them. Izzy had been very shaken by the whole thing, and hadn’t held Clary’s hand in public since.
“If today goes well and there are no assholes, I think it could.” Alec nodded, smiling up at Magnus as he came back with their drinks.
“How’s Clary doing?” Simon asked, “I’m honestly surprised she didn’t take them all on herself.”
“If Izzy hadn’t been there she probably would have,” Maia smiled, shaking her head. “Swear Izzy’s like 80% of her impulse control.”
“More like 95%,” Magnus corrected her, giving Alec a kiss on the cheek. “But she’s doing fine. She came out as a lesbian in an inner city high school, so…”
“She’s heard it all before,” Maia sighed, nodding. “I know the feeling. Nothing surprises me anymore.”
“Baby, could you get off my lap for a bit? My leg’s starting to go numb,” Simon requested, his hands on Maia’s hips. Maia shifted back into her seat, reaching for her beer. “Yeah, I swear I’m more scared out there at night than you are.”
Maia shrugged. “Any transphobe starts on me and I’ll rip their throat out. No sweat.”
Alec rolled his eyes when Maia grinned cheekily at him.
“I can say that shit around you now, since you’re ‘retired’.” She used quotation marks, and Alec couldn’t help but smile.
“Now I’m not working for the Clave anymore I can say I heartily approve of you tearing the throats out of any transphobe that gives you grief.” Alec raised his glass to her, and they clinked them together.
“We’ve been looking at office space,” Magnus enthused, eyes lighting up. “There’s an amazing little place near the Hotel DuMort, it’s exactly the right size and there are these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows.”
“All that matters is that I can have a desk and an internet connection,” Alec laughed, “but we all know how Magnus gets about real estate.” He patted his fiance’s thigh, who stuck his tongue out at him.
“I won’t have my future husband working out of a hole. No. Lightwood Investigations will have only the best.” Magnus insisted.
“I am so excited to have a real job, you have no idea.” Simon groaned. “There are only so many gooey love songs you can write, I’m running out of things to do.”
“My Mom said the same thing. Well, not the gooey love song thing, but the being excited to get to work thing. I think she misses the shadow world.” Alec sighed, scratching behind his ear. “Still don’t know how I feel about her working the field, though.”
Magnus ran his fingers through Alec’s hair. “Alexander, runes or no runes, Maryse has decades of experience hunting demons. She’ll be absolutely fine.”
“Besides, Luke’s looking out for her,” Maia shrugged, “he’s so whipped, he’d never let anything bad happen to her. Like, ever.”
“True,” Alec allowed, glancing up and smiling when he saw Izzy and Clary heading for them, holding hands. Izzy looked as happy as ever, her dark eyes bright with joy as she looked around at all the pride decorations and queer couples hanging around drinking and laughing. She spotted Alec and started jogging, dragging Clary along with her.
“Hey!”
“Hey, you look great.” Alec told her, standing to give her a hug. “Having fun?”
“Thank you!” Izzy beamed, doing a little twirl in her summer dress, Magnus and Maia giving her impressed looks. “It’s Clary’s.”
Clary looked a little out of it, tired from her patrol, but she also looked cute in her shorts and t-shirt, which read ‘no-one knows I’m a lesbian.’ Simon and her bumped hips and started excitedly complimenting each other’s t-shirts, and Maia started asking Izzy how work was, and Alec and Magnus looked at each for a moment, feeling warm and content with their little chosen family.
“Oh, Clary,” Alec remembered, poking her in the ribs to get her attention, “did you see Ben and Raj on your way here?”
“No, I thought they’d already left,” Clary answered, “haven’t seen either of them all day.”
Humming, Alec checked his phone, and saw that he had a missed call from Raj. He stood up from the table and put his finger in his other ear, squinting to try and hear over the chattering around him. Raj picked up after a couple of rings, and it sounded like he was somewhere busy, too.
“Where are you guys?” Alec asked, “everyone’s here hanging out at Fresh.”
“We came straight to the fair. They’re giving out loads of free shit, you should get down here. You got that map Ben emailed you, right?”
“Yeah, we’ll finish up our drinks and meet you in a bit. Alright, see you.”
“Where are they?” Magnus asked, holding up his hand to shield his face from the sun.
“Raj is grabbed handfuls of free condoms at the fair,” Alec smirked, “as he does.”
Magnus laughed, sipping his drink. “Ben’s probably just as excited about the free pens.”
“The man does love his pens,” Alec chuckled, sitting back down only for Clary to pop herself in his lap, taking a sip of his drink.
“How’s life?” She asked, and Alec shrugged.
“Can’t complain. How’s work?”
Clary groaned, tipping her head back, and Alec laughed. “I just had to write up a bunch of Seelies who were trying to sell mundanes some weird magical MDMA.”
“Is that the one called, uh… Oh what was it? Lax!?” Magnus snapped his fingers.
“Yeah…”
“Ouch,” Magnus tutted, “yeah, no, that stuff is not fun. That was Amsterdam pride in the ‘90s. Not a highlight of that decade, I can tell you that.”
“You did Seelie drugs in the ‘90s?!” Maia clapped her hands. “Why have I never heard this story when I’ve heard the Marie Antoinette one six times?!”
Magnus side-eyed Alec, who was looking at him with raised eyebrows. “I haven’t heard this story either.”
“Well, there’s a reason for that,” Magnus downed the last inch of his drink. “The entire story is I took it, threw up in a trashcan and cried in the hotel room for two days. And that is why I don’t do drugs anymore.”
“That sounds hellish,” Izzy grimaced, “and you would know.”
“Yes, I would. And yes, it was.” Magnus mused, putting his empty glass down on the table. “How are you doing, Iz?”
Izzy shrugged as everyone looked at her, uncharacteristically shy, and Alec reached over to squeeze her knee. “I’m okay. This is amazing, I’m so glad we came. Thank God you finally decided to join us, it’s never as fun without you, Mags.” She pouted, making Magnus shrug.
“I just hate how it’s all cops and capitalism these days,” Magnus explained, running his fingers around the rim of his glass, “turns my stomach. But it’s nice to spend time with everyone like this.”
“We’ll celebrate pride for real later tonight by throwing bricks at cops, I got you.” Clary assured him, patting his chest.
“I will second that.” Maia agreed, raising her bottle.
Simon shook his head. “I’m not bailing you assholes out if you get arrested.”
“I’d like to see them try and arrest three shadowhunters, a werewolf,a warlock and a vampire.” Alec huffed.
“I’m not a vampire this month, it’s pride.” Simon insisted, giving Alec finger guns. “I’m a CAMP-ire.”
Everyone groaned except Clary, who cracked up laughing.

“How’s the pack adjusting to the new place?” Izzy asked Maia as they strolled towards the fair in Central Park.
“You know what they’re like,” Maia sighed, “Russell’s whining as usual, but the pack was getting too big to stay in the Jade Wolf. He’s just mad that he has to cook his own meals now.”
Izzy laughed, imagining the burly wolf with an apron on. “I’m sure everyone will get used to the house soon.”
“You and Clary should come and check it out. Bat’s got it all organised, I have no idea how he managed to assign rooms where everyone’s happy, I swear he’s got a little warlock magic in him.”
“Is it weird living away from them?” Izzy asked, ducking out of the way of a balloon vendor, narrowly avoiding a penis-shaped balloon in the face. Alec cackled from behind them, and Izzy put her middle finger up at him.
“Kinda,” Maia shrugged, “honestly I’m just relieved. Simon and I finally have our own space, and we’re only a couple of doors down. It’s nice.”
“I think it’d be nice to move out of the institute and get our own place, but I have no idea how we’d ever afford it.” Izzy shrugged, squeezing Clary’s hand, who’d been distracted talking to Magnus.
Maia nodded, “it’s tough. Rent’s ridiculous. We’re just about managing from the profits that the Jade Wolf’s generating now that it’s actually making money serving mundanes. I can’t imagine the Clave pays you guys particularly well…”
“I do okay now that I’m running the place, but Clary’s pay is tragic. I wanted to promote her to a desk job, but-”
“I would go crazy sitting behind a desk,” Clary supplied, and Izzy smiled at her.
“Gotta be right in the middle of the action, haven’t you, doll?”
Clary shrugged. “It’s in my blood to cause trouble.”
Maia and Izzy laughed, knowing all too well how much of a troublemaker Clary really was.
“Can anyone see Raj and Ben?” Alec asked, poking his head over Maia’s shoulder, squinting.
They spotted Raj first, holding two denim jackets and scrolling through his phone in front of the sexual health tent. Clary, Izzy, Magnus and Maia went to get flags painted on their faces, and Alec and Simon headed over to the tent. As they approached, Raj glanced up, shoulders slumping.
“Thank God you guys are here. Ben’s been talking to some mundane forever. I’m bored out of my brain.”
“Raj, it’s pride. Look at this place.” Alec pointed out, “there’s so much to look at!”
“I didn’t want to disappear just in case he came out looking for me,” Raj admitted, and Alec smiled at him.
“You are so whipped.”
“Says you,” Raj snorted, glancing into the tent to check on his boyfriend. “Where’s Magnus, anyway?”
“He’s looking around, because we’re capable of being more than ten foot away from each other at any given moment,” Alec teased, but Simon tutted.
“Nah, dude, you and Magnus are way more co-dependent than Ben and Raj are.” Simon insisted, “they’re still in the honeymoon phase. You and Magnus have been together for like a million years at this point.”
Raj pointed at Simon in agreement, high-fiving him. “You’re whipped too, though.”
“Fuck yeah I am, Maia’s my Queen. I make no apologies,” Simon shrugged, making Alec and Raj roll their eyes at each other with a chuckle.
“Guys, you made it!” Benjamin grinned, eyes alight with happiness. “Is Magnus here?”
Alec nodded, pointing to where Izzy was getting a bisexual flag painted on her face, Magnus and Maia hyping her up. “Yep, and he has yet to get arrested, so no doubt he’s having an awful time.”
“Feel sorry for the poor bastard who tries to arrest him. Been there, done that, got the trauma.” Raj quipped, handing his boyfriend his jacket.
“From what I hear you had that coming,” Benjamin teased, rubbing Raj’s shoulder. “Come on, let’s get you some face paint.”
“No way, that shit is probably terrible for your skin.”
“Don’t you guys have runes to like, get rid of imperfections, anyway?” Simon asked, falling into step next to Raj as they headed back over to the others.
“No… What are you talking about?” Alec asked, eyebrows furrowing.
Simon’s eyes widened. “So you all just look like that? Naturally?” He shook his head, looking at Alec, then Raj, then Benjamin. “Damn.”
“It’s the angel blood,” Ben winked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“She just bumped into me once. Literally. I was coming out of a portal, and like, there she was. I’d seen paintings of her after Stonewall, but…” Magnus smiled, shaking his head. “She was amazing, totally unafraid. Totally unrepentant in the space she took up, it was wonderful. I opened my mouth to say something, but she had absolutely no time for me. Told me to get the fuck out of her way.” Magnus shrugged, his smile so wide his teeth were showing. “And I swear that story is true.”
“I can’t believe you met Marsha P. Johnson.” Maia marvelled. “Do you think she had any idea of the impact she had?”
Magnus shrugged. “I hope so.”
Raj and Izzy looked at each other, a little lost.
“Marsha is credited with throwing the first brick at the Stonewall protest, which sparked a conversation about LGBT rights in the US.” Alec explained to them, “she founded the first pride parade, right here in New York.”
“They really need to start teaching mundane history at the Academy,” Benjamin shifted to lean against Raj, his legs stretched out in front of him.
“They don’t teach queer history in mundane schools either,” Clary sighed, her head in Izzy’s lap. “It’s bad. I only know this stuff because I had Tumblr growing up.”
“Of course you did,” Maia laughed, taking a sip of her punch.
“What the fuck is a Tumblr?” Raj demanded.
“Oh, Madzie told me this one. She said it was a place on the internet where losers hung out.” Magnus volunteered.
“Hey!”
They’d found a spot on the green in front of the bar, and bought a few pitchers of punch to share. Each couple was nestled together, enjoying the sunshine and each other’s company. Magnus was sitting with his legs open, Alec nestled between them and leaning against him, holding Magnus’ cup of punch so Magnus could tell his stories with all the grand gestures needed and no punch spillages. Simon was sitting more or less in Maia’s lap, their pinkie fingers curled together, content to listen as the others bantered.
“I’m just telling you what Madzie said!” Magnus smirked, “she’s fifteen now, she doesn’t have time to mince words.”
“Are you kidding? She never did.” Alec huffed, “told me I was useless cus I couldn’t do magic when she was like nine.”
“Aw, Cat and Dot should’ve brought her, that would have been so cute.” Izzy cooed, running her fingers through Clary’s hair.
“I thought they were on holiday,” Ben pointed out. “Dot wasn’t at pottery this week.”
Raj stretched his arms over his head, clicking out his back. “Yeah, Jem mentioned they were all going to London to visit Madzie’s Uncle. Madz cancelled her lessons with him this week.”
“Wait,” Alec sat up a little straighter. “Do you mean Ragnor?”
Raj shrugged.
“Oooooh, he didn’t invite you guys to London in months,” Maia smirked, “what did you do this time?”
Alec craned his neck to look at Magnus, frowning. “What did we do?”
“Hmmm... “ Magnus squinted up at the sky. “His birthday’s in December, and we didn’t forget that.”
“He sent me a fire message for the anniversary of Mom’s death a few weeks ago, so it must be just you guys he’s mad at.” Clary giggled, “Magnus is in trouble…”
Magnus sighed, resting his chin on Alec’s shoulder. “Whatever, I’ll go and see him tomorrow.”
“How’s Madzie doing with Jem, anyway?” Simon asked, “I don’t know how she spends so much time with him, the whole no mouth moving thing freaks me out.”
“Nah, it’s like those old martial arts movies, it’s cool.” Maia insisted, shouldering him gently.
“From what I can gather, Madzie’s really naturally gifted,” Ben nodded. She’d been learning how to do non-verbal spells for the last few months, since she wasn’t the greatest fan of talking in stressful situations.
“Well, we already knew that. Little sweet pea’s going to be a real force when she matures.” Magnus puffed out his chest proudly. “And she’s planning to go to mundane college. She’s so smart.”
“Your broodiness is showing, Magnus,” Izzy teased.
Magnus tightened his arms around Alec’s waist. “I don’t make any secret of loving children.”
“You guys talked about kids yet?” Simon asked, his eyes flicking to Alec, whose shoulders were rising to his jaw.
“Briefly,” Alec mumbled.
“I think I’d want kids,” Clary offered, nodding at the grateful smile Alec gave her as everyone turned their attention to her instead. She smiled up at Izzy, reaching to boop her nose. “Well, a kid. I’d want them to be an only child for sure.”
“Yeah, only child is probably the best way to go.” Maia agreed, taking a big gulp of her punch.
“But siblings are amazing,” Izzy pouted, looking at Alec. “They’re like ready made best friends.”
“Yeah, I would not have managed without Rebecca.” Simon hummed. “But you know, I’m not that bothered about kids.”
Maia smiled, pushing her face into his neck. “And this is why I love you. Fuck kids, man. I can barely keep my own shit together, and I have a whole pack to look out for, I don’t want to be responsible for anybody else.”
Benjamin and Raj were avoiding each other’s eyes, sipping their punch. They’d been dating for less than three months, and had yet to have any serious conversations about their future. At Ben’s count, this was only their tenth date, not including ‘bedroom dates’. There was no way he was volunteering that he wanted a huge family and scaring Raj off.
Of course, Raj was having the exact same worries.
“Hey, look, everyone’s heading for the parade,” Raj pointed out, nudging Ben. “You wanted to do that, right?”
“There’s no discussion, we’re marching in the parade,” Alec announced, getting to his feet and holding up his hand to help Magnus up.
“Look at you, still barking out orders like the good old days,” Clary teased.
Alec shrugged, picking the trans flag up from where he’d been sitting on it and tying it around his neck. “I’ll always be bossy.”
They managed to squeeze in between a mental health charity and a group of college kids. Maia pulled a trans flag out of her bag once she’d handed Simon his pansexual flag, and Magnus magicked a bi flag with a long pole into his hands. Everyone rolled their eyes at him as he grinned at them. He could never do anything by half, after all. Clary and Izzy both wore their respective lesbian and bisexual flags around their necks like Alec, and only Ben and Raj were left without.
“You want me to conjure you some?” Magnus offered, and the two of them looked at each other.
“I have this,” Raj tugged a rainbow handkerchief out of his back pocket and handed it to his boyfriend. “Saw it in a tourist shop a couple of weeks ago, figured you’d like it.”
Benjamin looked at Raj with surprise and fondness, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “You went into a tacky mundane tourist shop to make me happy?”
“Course I did.” Raj mumbled, a little embarrassed now that everyone was looking at him.
“Well, I’ll be sure to thank you quite thoroughly later,” Ben promised, a naughty sparkle in his eyes, which made Raj relax and smirk a little.
“Remember the first year we came and we ended up walking with the furries?” Izzy laughed, falling into step next to Alec.
Alec groaned. “God, don’t remind me.”
“I’m sure Alexander fitted right in,” Magnus said lightly, and Clary and Simon stopped in their tracks.
“Wait, Alec’s a furry?!”
“No!” Alec yelped, glaring at his fiance.
“No, he’s not, not really. But I like to tease him ‘cause he likes my cat eyes.” Magnus gave Alec a kiss on the cheek, making his grumpy facade drop a little.
“That’s stage one of furry-ism.” Simon warned him, his voice fake-grave. “Next it’ll be tail buttplugs.”
“Alright, you can talk, I’ve seen your hentai collection, you can shut your mouth.” Alec argued, which made Maia cackle.
“Yeah, babe, you’re dating a literal alpha werewolf. You cannot point fingers at Alec.” Maia reminded him, which made Simon shrug.
Ben leaned in to whisper to Raj, “what the hell is a furry?”
“I have no idea, but whatever it is doesn’t sound good.” Raj muttered back, taking his hand.
After they were all done pointing fingers about questionable fetishes, they all settled down to enjoy the experience of being surrounded by people totally like yourself. Every now and again, someone would point out an amazing costume, or a mundane celebrity, or a Seelie snuck in from the Seelie realm to enjoy the party. Izzy felt like she was on the verge of tears for most of it; after feeling so much fear in the last few weeks, she felt safe and accepted in her city again, and kissed Clary’s face at every opportunity. She felt silly, now, for being so scared of mundane bigots, but at the time it had been scarier than she’d been willing to admit. She admired the mundanes around her, the people who didn’t possess any supernatural power and were still brave enough to live their lives openly and without apology. They could barely protect themselves from the darkness of bigotry, but here and now they danced and kissed and laughed without fear, happiness and light emanating from the huge, pulsing crowd as they marched through the city.
It was beautiful.
She met Alec’s eyes at one point as he laughed at something Magnus was saying, and her tears spilled over. There was an immense feeling of relief and love welling up in her that she couldn’t control. She’d never worried too much about what the angel thought of her, but now she knew without doubt that he was blessing them, her and Alec. They’d found a family.
They’d found themselves, too.
Cutie Reviews: Yume Twins May 18
See, I’m already making progress. It’s been a while since I’ve done two reviews in such a close span... hasn’t it?
Tumblr media
Theme of the month: (U・x・U) Pom-Pom Sunshine
Before we get into this, I thought It’d be kinda fun to look over the description of this months box to help get a feel for the theme. It does play a large role in judging and I usually don’t elaborate upon it outside of name. Keep in mind that I took out the non-important stuff.
“What does Pompompurin and sunshine have in common? They both have a kawaii pastel yellow color! Pompompurin also loves going out and enjoying the outdoors making the most of his day. In this box, you can find many cute yellow items that represent May’s nice weathers and Pompompurin!“
Not to be a downer but I don’t like yellow.
But the point is not to judge the box on it’s color choices but its content, so please keep that paragraph above in mind.
Contest & Yume Prize
Tumblr media
As usual, we have a contest featuring some very randomly chosen Sailor Moon facial masks, earbuds, and a puzzle. I’m not complaining though, who doesn’t like Sailor Moon?
Tumblr media
The Yume Prize caters more towards the theme however, which I do appreciate. They usually do pretty good with that. Although, without sounding like a brat, I don’t see how this stuff can cost over 500 dollars other than the high quality being on a name brand product that belongs to its brand; you know, like if you find a toy at an official Disney store, it’s probably going to cost more than like it’s Walmart Disney toy variant?
In fact I can guarantee it because one of my favorite bloggers did a comparison on them a few times....
Kawaii Culture
Tumblr media
I really should be including this more often, so here it is now :3 May’s Kawaii Culture celebrates the very first permanent Pokemon Cafe in Nihonboshi Tokyo back in March. You can shop for Pokemon-themed goods like accessories, toys, figurines, and even get some cute themed food.
Okay! So let’s get along with the review shall we?
Pompompurin Roll Cushion
Tumblr media
The second of 3 Sanrio Roll within Yume Twins, last month we got My Melody in the easter-themed box, and next month we’ll get the third and final one of the set. You’ll have to wait for that review to see who it is-  but in the mean time feel free to guess or think up an answer. I wish the image within the booklet didn’t spoil each one though because the shapes made them very obvious. There wasn’t a surprise element for us who subscribe to it.
As I mentioned in the prior box, I love these cute Sanrio, tube-like tsum tsum cushions. They’re so cute and soft.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
These are very simplified, but well made roll plush/cushions. Comfortable enough to snuggle with and use for the head or to rest a limb on. They even go full out with details... by that I mean they included his button.
and by button I mean... button; you know, typical Pompompurin inclusion. If they didn’t want people to know it was there they wouldn’t put it <3<
Kawaii Leisure Sheet
Tumblr media
Ironically I just reviewed one of these in the Doki Doki April box. I think this one may be a bit bigger, I didn’t think to compare the two to see like I probably should have. Anyway... as a rehash of DDAB’s sheet, this sheet is for activities you would probably down sitting down outside. The bottom half has a thin layer of Styrofoam, while the top is textured (I assume to wash off dirt or stains).
This game in four styles, featuring Rilakkuma, My Melody, and 2 different Sumikko Gurashi.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Rilakkuma is always cute and I love this design! It feels so.. spring-to-summer vibey. But I also feel like this could work in the fall too. The mat is thin, but it still feels comfortable sitting down on. It could also probably work for several other things, like putting shoes on, or as a plate mat for a room or something. If I was going to the park or on a picnic or something I’d probably bring it.
Japanese Canvas Tote Bag
Tumblr media
A mini-tote bag made in India that apparently costs 1,000 yen. It’s not very big but it gets the job done no problem and offers a lot of space. It also has an inner-pocket, which I like because I hate bags that have no storage compartments and just make a mess you need to waste five minutes digging through. There was 5 designs, including this one, two with cats, and two with sumo wrestlers.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
For a bag to get in one of these boxes I’m actually pretty impressed by it. It’s extremely well made and you can fit necessities and more in it, so it’s very practical for all sorts of occasions. I also like the simplistic and colorfully repetitive design, it makes me feel happy.
Cafe Holographic Stickers
Tumblr media
I love sparkles, and food stickers! I got pretty excited seeing this in the box, you can see just how holographic the packaging is alone. There are 6 types (Honey toast, a drink, pancakes, a frappe, cheesecake or fruit tart, and a donut), 8 for each. There is also 2 large stickers with a design based on the front of the package.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
First I want to say adore this packaging. It’s so sparkly and shiny, and I just think it’s really cute looking with the cafe items covering the front and back. I like the variety and the stickers are like average stickers, but they do have that holo that everyone loves and makes everything better~
Taiyaki Squishy
Tumblr media
Everyone’s favorite item in these boxes (I assume anyway), a squishy! Taiyaki is a baked pastry filled with things like red bean paste or chocolate. They’re super-popular and can be available fresh (which seem more cake/dough-like from what I’ve seen) or crispy pre-packaged ones (which I’ve tried before and really liked).
This was available in strawberry, chocolate, regular, matcha, and... white. Sorry, I’m not sure what a white one would be. It’s like they knew I wouldn’t be a fan of the Yellow color theme for May and gave me my favorite color to appease that.
I know that isn’t really the case, but it’s ironic isn’t it?
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
It’s very cute, and I’m happy I got this strawberry-colored one. But I did notice mine has some air bubbles in the rubber/fabric (?), and around the mouth the coloring is lacking. What really killed it for me though, is the fact that it smells like body odor. I have no idea why it would, it’s been in the box and the box doesn’t stink. The inside of the box actually smells good...
Oh, and if you’re curious its a like a... 8 out of 10 in terms of rising speed. It’s quick but not instant.
Chick Kitchen Spoon
Tumblr media
This is our final item of the box, and also the featured one. It’s an adorable chick-themed spoon perfect for stirring soups and sauces, scooping rice, tossing a salad, etc. It’s feet are removable- I assume for easier holding and washing.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I love cute kitchen items, so I instantly took to this one. It’s pretty much like any other large spoon you’d have for making foods, but it’s just unique in design- so there isn’t actually much I can say about it. I do like that it stands though, because I hate laying spoons down on various surfaces and either making a mess or worrying over germs and having to get a whole new one.
♥ Cutie Ranking ♥
Content - 4 out of 5. I liked everything enough, I’m not sure what of it I’ll actually end up using because for me personally, it kinda feels like this is one of those “put it aside and come back to it“ boxes. I didn’t instantly say “I’m gonna put that out right away!“, except for the chick spoon for obvious reasons.
Price - 5 out of 5. Unlike the past two boxes I feel like this one was definitely worth the price we pay for them. Two items were small, in comparison to having a bunch of small and cheap items.
Quality - 4.5 out of 5. Everything is spot-on, nicely detailed, etc. I’m only marking this down because of that smelly Taiyaki squishy.
Theme - 2.5 out of 5. The theme was yellow, and two of our pre-picked non-randomized items were indeed yellow. By some dumb luck one of my items is mostly yellow. But two ended up being multicolored, and one was pink (but had a yellowish one in the set). Another portion was pompompurin, who could have been represented more, as well as sunshine, a summery vibe I honestly didn’t feel with this box outside of the vibrant color.
Total Rank: 15/16 out of 20 Cuties. Lately I’ve had complex and uncertain feelings about boxes, but with this one I felt like I liked it more/better even if it left me without that excitement that I look for in a new box.
♥ Cutie Scale ♥
1. Leisure Sheet -  Not only did I feel like this embraced the theme the best, but in general it’s just a super-kawaii design!
2. Cafe Holographic Stickers - I was quickly won over by the sparkly, shiny rainbowness of the packaging- plus the stickers are cute.
3. Pompompurin Roll - Very cute and squishy-soft, but generic Pompompurin you know?
4. Tote - A repetitive and simple bonsai plant design, but it’s charming.
5. Chick Spoon - It’s cute but in a generic sense to me, so I thought the other items were much cuter.
6. Taiyaki Squishy - It’s a stinky, but still kind of cute squishy. And Pink, so...
Alrighty, we’ve come to another end of a review. Wasn’t so bad was it? Next will be the usual NMNL, followed by Kira Kira crate. I’m hoping to get those both done within the next few days to try to get myself back on track of posting more often- especially since I got so behind >3<
But if anyone sticks it out with me and continues reading then I’m happy. So until next time stay warmly pompompurin cute!
#ADateInNewYork
Co written by @HuntersGirlBaby and @DeadlyJager
Ali - Good morning. Enjoying one of the amazing views this morning. Hope everyone one has an amazing day.
Graham - You too little darlin’.
Aly - *smiles at him.* Thank you, my handsome alpha. *stands on her tip toes, kissing him.* It’s already looking up to be one
Graham - -Meet's her half way returning the kiss. Strong arms go around her and he smiles.- I'd agree.
Aly - *Wrapping her arms around his neck, linking her fingers, against the flesh of his neck. Stroking his warm skin. With a smile against his lips.* And now.. *softly kissing once more.* ..I love this start to the day. You might spoil me.
Graham - Doesn't sound like a bad thing. -Blue eyes filled with an ease and happiness.-
Aly - If you spoil me I get to return the favor. *she reached around, tracing softly on his cheek and jaw with the tips of her fingers. Holding his gaze with her own bright and sparkling one.*
Graham - Sounds like a fair bargain. What do you have planned for today?
Aly - *that made her smile more.* Well, I have a call to make today, for Blackwater. Then, I plan on exploring a little. Would you like to come exploring with me? If you’re not busy yourself.
Graham - I'd like that. I'm gonna go get a shower. -Kisses the top of her head.-
Aly - *placing a kiss to his neck, smiling.* I can’t wait. And don’t use all the hot water. *she teased.*
Graham - I’ll do my best. -Disappears into the bathroom to clean up.-
Aly - *Ali turned and watched him. She couldn't help herself. Falling back onto the bed she fanned herself. Giggling she rolled onto her stomach, hmmm to let him shower..alone or...? That was the question.*
Graham - -Dressed he came out of the bathroom and smiled at her.- It's all yours and I went easy on the hot water.
Aly - *The steam rolled out of the door. She smiled, chin in her hands, a smile gracing her lips, bitting softly. Hopping up off the bed, she went to him pushed on her tip toes, kissing him.* Thank you! I’ll be quick I promise! *slipping into the bathroom, she rushed to get into the shower. Singing like she always did, as she washed and got clean. Happier the. She has been in a long time, it felt like. Once done, she dried and dressed, in jeans and black shirt that showed her tummy. Letting her hair fall around her shoulders. Stepping out with a smile.* Ready! I believe that’s the fastest shower I have ever taken! *laughs*
Graham - -Looks up laughs.- Well you look good darlin'. So where too?
Ali - *she blushed softly. Coming over to him.* thank you, my Cowboy. *leaning over and kissing him in thanks as well.* I was thinking having a picnic in Central Park! Pick up some food and enjoy. And then the zoo! There’s one close there. *her eyes sparkled*
Graham - Your wish is my pleasure. -Offers her his arm and walks her out with security trailing them.-
Aly - *He was going to have her in a puddle of goo if he kept this up. Slipping her arm through his.* I heard they make huge sandwiches here! I think those would be amazing! *she talked as they head out and to the SUV. Calling back to the team to please grab a blanket.* We can’t forget it! *She made sure to tell them thank you. Crap she hoped she wasn’t to much right now.*
Graham - Blanket retrieved and everyone loaded up he looked at Alyson.- What kind of food would you like for his picnic?
Aly - *Ali sat close to him. Lacing her fingers with his. She smiled up at him.* I was thinking, some fruit with panini’s! They seem like fancy grilled cheese to me! *they pulled out into traffic.* I would have made the food myself. It will still be special.
Graham - You're sight seeing and getting a lay of the land. Cooking can be, later on, you should just enjoy the city and what it has to offer.
Aly - I’m glad I get to enjoy it with you. I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t have done this myself. To many people, but..with you. It’s just different. I want to see things now. *she got a knowing smile. A glint of teasing in her eyes* We’ll go dancing too! *she tried not to laugh.*
Graham - Dancing huh? Sounds good. -The SUV pulled up to a restaurant and parked. Security got out and opened Alyson's door as Graham got out.-
Aly - *She was almost stunned, she was teasing him and he agreed. Hopping out, she walked around and slipped her hand into his. Heading into the restaurant. And walking up to the counter. There was a little line. But she didn’t mind. As she had to crane her neck to look at the menu.* You know you keep surprising me. *she smiled* But you did give me my first dance. And in the rain, I always wanted that. *the line moved and she followed. The smells were making her tummy growl a little.*
Graham - I haven't done anything babe just following your lead. -Putting his arms around her he kissed the top of her head and just held her as they waited in line.-
Aly - *She actually swooned. This man, her man, made her weak in the knees. His scent and warmth wrapped around her. This was heaven. Damn she was lucky. Her hands rested on top of his arms, stroking softly against his flesh. Pressing back into him.* Oh you’ve done more then you know.*placing a soft kiss to his neck. The line moved more and they would be next.* I believe you, love have one surprise coming, later. *she winked.*
Graham - Should I be scared? -Laughs as he looks down at her.- Women folk come up with the most darn things.
Aly - *giving a sweet and innocent smile.* No never be scared, this is me, love. *giggling softly, as she blows a kiss, waggling her brows.* I promise, I believe you’ll like it! *throwing on a country accent, which wasn’t really good.* You men folk let us women flock get away with it too! *she laughed, as the lady said next. Ali smiled at the woman. Ordering and then letting Graham go next.*
Graham - Well that’s the rules. Cant fight tradition. -Grinning ear to ear.-
Aly -Wait...wait.. *she turned in his arms to face him.* Do I need to know these rules? *she was hit with the full force of his grin. Oh have mercy! She completely forgot about the woman behind the counter.*
Graham -The lady behind the counter cleared her voice getting their attention and Graham winked at Alyson as their order was took -
Aly *Oh she was going to get those rules, her mind started going with ways to get them out. Smiling a tint to her cheeks, as she turned back around. They paid and moved off to the side as they waited for their food. Whispering to him.* I’ll be getting those rules love. Let’s hope you’re ready. *grins up at him.*
Graham - My lips are sealed for self preservation. -Chuckles.-
Aly - *Her mouth dropped open.* Don’t tell me there is a secret Cowboy group, that you make these said rules at. Then keep them from us women. *their order was called and Ali frappes the bag.* Not even my kisses will get them out of you will they?
Graham - Here let me help with those. No, Just a momma who taught things a certain way.
Aly - *She smiled and handed him them.* Thank you, love. Then she raised you right. And I promise, I won’t try and get the rules out of you. *She wrapped her arms around his arm. Heading out and to the SUV.* I want to respect your momma.
Graham - She would have liked you. -Opens the door for her and then gets in.- Where to now? Central Park?
Aly - *That made her smile to the point her whole face lit up.* She made you, and brought you into this world. I would have liked her a lot! *climbing up, she hates being short sometimes.* Yes please! I’m so excited to see it there! I’m going to take pictures of us there! *she got inside and settled. The others got in. Ali laughed.* Lucky tall people! *that got a laugh.*
Graham -The drive went smooth as expected for a sunny New York day. The park was full of people jogging, playing sports and walking their dogs. It was always a weird sight for Graham after looking at concrete and glass all day to witness this huge park nestled into the city. Carrying bags and blanket he waited for directions from Alyson of where she’d like to sit.-
Aly - *Ali couldn’t help herself, she leaned over Graham to look at everything that passed. This was so different from Austin, even Boston. When the park came into view, her eyes lit up. It was perfect. Sure there were more people then she liked. But she wasn’t going to let that ruin her day and date with Graham. She hopped out of the SUV. Scanning for the perfect place. A spot that sat just a little in the shade. Not a lot of people were around it. She pointed.* That’s a perfect place! *she started for it and got on her knees once there. To help set up there things. It was a little country in the big city.*
Graham -The security team spanned out to give them privacy but close enough to keep an eye on things. Graham helped her then took a seat on the blanket. Laying his Stetson aside he relaxed a little. He marveled at how happy and cheerful she was. It made him smile.-
Aly *Ali dug in the bag. Setting out the food. She kicked off her shoes in the process. Peeking over at him she smiled softly. Sitting next to him. Before they ate, she pulled out her phone. Getting the camera app opened, she leaned in and kissed his cheek, snapping a picture. she smiled and set it as her wallpaper. Then set aside her phone.* You know I love seeing that smile on your lips. *she relaxed beside him and picked up the fruit, popping the lid. Eating some she held it out to him.* I’m really glad I get to share this place with you too.
Graham - He sat watching her, arm draped over one knee. She was so caring free and happy he loved that about her. Sensing no darkness or fear. He took the strawberry and ate it.- I admit I've never had a picnic before and the company is way out of my league. -Soft smile.-
Aly -*Ali picked out another piece of strawberry, biting into it. As Graham spoke her eyes went wide. Popping the rest in her mouth, her cheeks puffed out a little. Covering her mouth to swallow.* You /never/ have? *This actually shocked her.* Well..now you’ll get to have many more. her eyes light up.* I have a first of yours! *She didn’t know why she liked that a /lot/. Blushing at his next words. It made her feel all warm. Leaning over she kissed his jaw softly.* You’re going to make me blush from head to toe. *she smiled gently up to him.* Now I’m curious. What are some other things you haven’t done? Care to share with me.
Graham - -Soft smile.- The list is kinda long and I'd need time to think about it. But I will share once I think of things. So I overheard you're going to over research and development that's quit a feat for one so young. I'm curious to see what you come up with.
Aly - *her whole smile became bright.* I look forward to hearing your list! And then we will get to work on them! *she almost bounced.* Yes! I tinker so much, and my ideas are kind of out there. Like a bullet that will inject the person shot! It makes it safer to deal with others. *She started to geek out a little bit.* Different vests, that would protect, but be lightweight on the body. Less weight for the person that wore them. *she blushed deeply.* I’m so sorry, baby! I didn’t mean to ramble about that! *clearing her throat.*
Graham - You're not rambling. I like to hear you talk.
Aly - *she blushed a little more.* I get that from my dad. The man can talk for hours and not be out of breath. *laughs softly, unwrapping the sandwiches for us.* Wait until we watch a movie together and I talk a lot. *laughs smiling at him offering him his sandwich.* you might have to cover my mouth or something!
Graham - Really? Colt was pretty quiet when we talked but maybe because he doesn't know me. Nah, like I said I like listening to.
Aly - *smiling softly.* Not daddy, he’s like you when it comes to talking. My dad Jake. *meets his eyes.* I have two bio dad’s. As odd as it sounds but it’s true. I can explain it to you if you would like. Most don’t know this about me and Ian.
Graham - Only if you feel like like explaining.
Aly - *she nodded.* I don’t mind to explain. See my dad, Jake and daddy, Colt. Wanted to have a child together. But they were both male. So they asked an Angel by the name of Cas for help. He turned my dad into a woman for a full year. And in that time, they got pregnant with me and my twin Ian. By the way the world is. We couldn’t be here, but we are special. *god she hoped it wasn’t to out there for him.*
Graham - -Eyes widen a bit and he smiles.- That's a lot of love to go that far to have a family.
Aly - *She relaxed and beamed a smile.* Yeah they had a lot of love for each. Still do, just doing what makes them happy now. And I’m happy for them both. *she was curious.* Do you ever want a family?
Graham - I hadn’t considered it given the DNA splicing that was done plus technically I’m a fugitive from the Initiative if they are still around.
Aly - *Gives a gentle nod.* I can understand. I have my own worries when it comes to that. So I have fur babies. *she would have to look into it.* I can see if daddy might know. And even if they still are. You won’t get taken away. I don’t care who they are. You are protected.
Graham - I don’t want to bring any trouble on your family Alyson. I was under the impression it was shut down after we took down the last base. The government has so many secrets they probably are still doing the experiments just under a different name in some inconspicuous place.
Aly - *reaching out and taking his hand in her’s.* I want you to listen. You won’t bring on trouble to my family. We protect those we care about. And I might be small, and half the time I don’t know what I’m doing is right or wrong. But, protecting you..caring about you. It’s right for me. Being with you, baby. You might step into more trouble. Just because of who I am. I don’t know all what the government does. But the moment we came together. It meant that I would stand by you and protect you every way I can. So the government can keep their hands off you. They won’t want to tangle with me.
Graham - You’re an amazing woman Ms. Winchester. I’m honored to be protected by you. -He kissed her hand with a smile.-
Aly - *her cheeks flamed red. A smile broke out across her lips. Leaning forward, lips to his ear she whispered.* And...you got me all warm gooey. *kissed the shell of his ear.*
Graham - -Her little confession got him riled up. Turning his head he kissed her soft lips.-
Aly - *Ali’s heart fluttered, softly she cupped his cheek. As she kissed him, gently, licking and nipping his lips. He warmed her, a shiver ran up her spine. Pressing closer to him. God this man, made her squirm.*
Graham - -As the kiss ended he cupped her cheek.- You make the world feel alive again.
Aly - *leaning into his touch, she placed her hand on his. Kissing his palm and his wrist. Her sparking gaze locked on his. A gentle blush creeped along her cheeks.* And you are opening my world, painting it with so many colors.
Graham - -As the birds chirped he just smiled at her, life was good. Picking up a strawberry he held it out to her lips.-
Aly - *Swoon, that smile of her man’s. Gently she bit into the strawberry, her lips wrapped around the berry. Reaching to his lips, after she dipped her finger into some chocolate. Her eyes, gleamed and shined. As she slowly, spread the chocolate along his lips.*
Graham - -He leaned in to kiss her lips and share the chocolate wealth with her sweet strawberry.-
Aly - *swallowing the berry. She gently, kissed, a little moan sounded through her chest. The mix was so good, so much so. That her tongue gently sought out his.*
Graham --Graham deepened the kiss gently as he stroked her hair -
Aly -*Her heart beat wildly in her chest. She opened for him, as her little fingers threaded through his hair. Her tongue stroked against his. He tasted so good to her.*
Graham - -The kiss lasted till a Golden Retriever bounced between them and an owner came running and apologizing. Graham laughed and petted the dog who was giving kisses too.-
Aly - *Ali giggled seeing the beautiful dog. She smiled, watching Graham with the fur baby. Turning to the owner. Ali said it was ok. She reached over and petted the soft fur. She loved seeing Graham like this. It warmed her heart.* I think he likes you! Giving you all those kisses.
Graham - I think he’s here for the pretty lady. -In seconds the pooch had bound away and trotted happily by its owner.-
Aly - *Ali blushed.* Maybe, but the gentlemen is very handsome himself. *She giggled with a bright smile at Graham.* I love that you’re so good with dogs. You touched a soft spot for me.
Graham - Got lucky. So what’s on that mind of yours?
Aly -*she laid down, putting her head in his lap. Looking up to him.* That’s dangerous! *she teased him.* I’m thinking that I found where my place in the world. Since meeting you, things have just..fell into place. *She hoped that wasn’t to sappy.* I’m curious, what are things you think about.
Graham - Well I'm thinking you're the sweetest soul I've ever met. I'm always worried about how this meeting will go down with the pack leaders. That's about all for now.
130lb of Ukrainian Courage pt. 12
Lip spots his brother sat on a bench from the gated entrance of the park and waves his free hand over his head in greeting. He knows that Mickey must be around somewhere, he doesn’t usually leave Ian’s side for more than a minute unless he has to. To Lip that shit is weirdly possessive but Ian doesn’t seem to mind it, in fact his brother seems to actively enjoy it.
Lip shifts the cardboard tray of Starbucks drinks to his other hand, closing the gate behind him. He winces as his bruised ribs stretch with the movement. Storming into Ian and Mickey’s house like that had been a few steps short of suicidal, but only a few. Mickey might be a human guard-dog when it comes to Ian, but to most other people, he’s still a dangerous guy with a short temper.  Lip thinks he probably got some sort of ‘extended family beat-down discount’ because he’s not actually that fucked up, but he still got his ass handed to him.
Thinking back on his attempted rescue this morning it had been a really fucking stupid thing to do and fuck Archie for planting the seed that it was Mickey who messed Ian’s face up. Nearly eight years have gone by and in that time, there have been arguments; Ian has occasionally stormed back to the Gallagher house for a night or two over some row or another but Mickey has never been abusive.
Lip expected him to be. Everyone expected a Milkovich, gay or not, to be an abusive piece of shit once the honeymoon period wore off. But Mickey is devoted to Ian. The word ‘faithful’ springs to mind and Lip grunts in surprise at his own minds conjuring, but there is no denying that is the word for it. Mickey is faithful to Ian, in every sense. Maybe more so even than Lip has been throughout their late-teens and twenties.
Lip wasn’t the one at clinics waiting for meds, he wasn’t the one helping Ian take small sips of water and make it to the bathroom when he was too depressed to move. He hasn’t actually done a whole lot for his brother in the last decade that wasn’t in some way just following Mickey’s lead.
He runs his hands over the bruises at his throat and rolls his eyes. Fucking idiot.
“Lip!”
As if conjured, Mickey is waving at him from the playground, a bright smile on his face, making Lip jump and nearly spilling the crappy peace-offering everywhere. Lip knows that smile. Every guy in South Side who has ever owed a Milkovich money or laid an unwanted hand on Mandy, knows that smile.
“Hey, Mickey.”
Lip looks anxiously toward Ian who is watching placidly from the park bench he is sprawled across and then realises what he is doing and squares his shoulders. It would suck if Mickey decided to go for round two but Lip is not going to hide behind his little brother to prevent it.
“Thanks for coming, man. I’m sorry about earlier. How you doin’?”
Mickey hops over the brightly painted dividing fence and claps a hand on Lip’s shoulder, maybe a bit harder than necessary but not exactly aggressive and still with that weirdly handsome and utterly terrifying smile.
“Er… yeah. Okay.”
Lip looks from the tattooed knuckles that make him want to roll his eyes every time he sees them to Mickey’s face, his eyebrows raised in his usual sardonic manner.
Mickey’s smile tightens at the corners as Lip makes his appraisal but doesn’t shift and Lip wonders what the fuck is going on before noticing an identical pair of blue eyes watching them intently from the top of the slide. Of course. They’re playing nice for their audience, no doubt at Ian’s order.
Lip might not be the biggest fan of Mickey but he does like his kid and essentially, Yevgeny is Ian’s son too so fine! Lip lets himself smile back and nods happily
“Hey, yeah, I’m sorry about before. My bad, man.”
He raises his voice to be sure that Yev will hear this and offers Mickey his hand. The handshake is brusque but solid enough. Mickey glances across at Ian who is stretching and standing up, strolling over to them with a smirk on his face.
Lip returns his laconic smile. He can’t help thinking of nature programs on the Discovery Channel about wolves and how the Alpha of the pack will take control and assume command naturally. That’s his little brother now. Pure fucking Alpha and Lip never even noticed the change happening. He wonders if Mickey noticed the power shift as it happened or whether it surprised him too … and how the Hell did Ian manage to tame a Milkovich anyway… actually, Lip doesn’t want to know.
*
“You brought coffee?”
“Peace offering. I got Soy Cappuccino, Strawberry Frappe for Yev, gingerbread latte and a mocha flat.”
Lip nods to Mickey who is tonguing his lip self-consciously. It isn’t that he can’t afford Starbucks, though once upon a time that would have bothered him, it isn’t even that the iconic little cups make him think of middle-class soccer mom’s desperate for an affair with the coach, it is that Lip is holding the tray so damn casually, like he has been doing it his whole life, whilst Mickey isn’t entirely sure what three of those things are.
“Which ones mine?”
Ian asks, plucking Yevgeny’s drink out.
“Whatever you want. I don’t mind.”
“Mick? What do you want?”
Mickey wants Yev’s drink because it looks fucking awesome, all cream and … cookie? Shit. He glances back to the less interesting looking cups and shrugs nonchalantly
“I’ll have the … ginger one.”
Lip snorts and Mickey gives him the finger before accepting the cup Ian passes him. He would have had the mocha if he know what it was or the cappuccino but what the fuck is soy sauce doing in coffee? Gross fuckin’ hipster bullshit.
Yev is handed his drink and the three men go sit on the bench while Yev goes back to play. Mickey is sipping cautiously at his latte, which is annoyingly delicious.
Lip and Ian, less enthused with the novelty, are studying each other and trying to work out how to begin the conversation.
“So why do you look like shit?”
Lip asks finally and Ian grins at him. There was a time that Lip knew everything about Ian. It wasn’t until Ian realised that he was gay that he had a secret from Lip. But it had been a big secret to keep and had changed things between them a little, forcing Lip to see Ian as a person separate to their bond.
“I wanna tell you, but you need to listen. Quietly. And you can’t tell Fiona.”
“Okay.”
Lip balances his cup on his knee and produces a pack of cigarettes, lighting up smoothly and offering the packet round. Ian takes one but Mickey doesn’t.
“You want me to stay or …?”
Mickey is looking at Ian with a small frown between his brows.
“Up to you.”
Mickey licks his lip, he very clearly wants to leave but Ian is here so Mickey is staying put. Lip rolls his eyes and ignores the small stab of jealousy that tucks under his ribs.
Ian does all the talking and Lip listens carefully, his expression darkening with shock and then utter hatred. Ian gets past the worst of it, skimming over the details and letting Lip put the pieces together himself which he does with absolute horror.
“Jesus, Ian! That’s … I …”
“I’m okay, it was fucked up but Mickey got me out ...”
Ian threads his fingers through Mickey’s as his boyfriend jerks, shocked to hear his name. Lip snorts angrily and shakes his head
“Got you out? It’s his fault you were there!”
Lip turns his attention to Mickey, upper-lip curling snarl.
“You know this is your fault, right? You literally brought this shit to your doorstep because your Dad fucking hates you and you’re too stupid to see it.”
Mickey squints off to the side and cricks his neck, resolutely silent. He doesn’t disagree with any of that. Not really. But this conversation is between Ian and his brother and Mickey doesn’t need to justify anything to Lip, not even if he thinks it’s true.
“Hey!”
Ian shoves his brother’s shoulder, hard, pushing him backwards out of Mickey’s space.
“Do not put this on him. Mickey did nothing wrong,”
Turning to Mickey, Ian repeats clearly and confidently, gripping his leg hard until Mickey flicks his gaze briefly in Ian’s direction.
“You did nothing wrong.”
Lip doesn’t have the patience to watch Ian coaxing Mickey out of what is clearly a shame-spiral of sorts. The stupidity of leaving his brother alone with Terry on the loose … Jesus!
“So where the fuck is Terry now?”
“The asshole is fuckin’ dead.”
Mickey says bluntly, not trusting himself to say more but not willing to hide in his silence either. He doesn’t look at either of the Gallagher brother’s but his fingers touch Ian’s knee lightly as he stands and walks over to Yevgeny, throwing his coffee cup into a nearby trash can so hard that the dregs explode upwards in a shower of creamy droplets.
Ian gives his brother his best ‘what the fuck?’ look and Lip shrugs.
“What part of what I said was wrong?”
“All of it! Mickey isn’t responsible for his father any more than we’re responsible for Frank.”
Lip sniffs heavily, as he always done when out argued and not wanting to admit it.
“So who killed Terry then? Won’t have been him.”
Lip jerks his chin toward Mickey’s retreating form and Ian frowns but tells Lip the rest. Lip nods and folds his arms defensively.
“He deserved to fuckin’ die long before someone finally offed him.”
Lip drains his coffee cup, nodding to himself. Ian hesitates and then asks the question that has been bugging him.
“Why did you say it wouldn’t have been Mickey?”
Lip shrugs and looks over to the playground where Mickey is now watching Yevgeny play, obediently following the little boy’s instructions to watch him do this and that.
“Cause Mickey loved the old bastard. Honestly, Ian, I know you think the Milkovich’s are no more fucked up than we are, but trust me, they are. Mickey used to worship the ground Terry walked on, like fucking Stockholm Syndrome or something, that doesn’t go away easily.”
Ian shuffles uncomfortably on the bench and shakes his head
“No, man. I mean after Mickey came out and his Dad got sent down again, he was done with Terry. Never visited him, never wrote to him...”
“Doesn’t mean he stopped caring. Listen, I just figured it wouldn’t have been him who pulled the trigger. Not even for you. Turns out, I was right, it was Svetlana. Tough fuckin’ bitch!”
Lip grins as he lights another cigarette, offering Ian one and then lighting them both up. Ian smokes quietly mulling over what Lip has said. Did Mickey still love Terry? Ian cannot imagine it. He’s hated Frank since he was a teenager, wouldn’t give a fuck if he died and would probably not really think much about it and compared to Terry, Frank has been a passable excuse of a father.
Ian watches as Yev charges away from the swings, Mickey calling out to him to watch his step and then picking up Yev’s discarded sweater from the ground, dusting it off and trailing after their son.
Ian knows that Mickey hasn’t been sleeping well, he knows that he feels vulnerable, they both do! But he hadn’t really considered that Mickey might actually be grieving. Not really.
The thought makes Ian’s skin feel a little tight and clammy, like he is stuck on a crowded train with the heating on full blast and he doesn’t have room to shrug his coat off. He doesn’t want Mickey to be grieving for Terry but worse would be if he were doing it silently and alone because he thinks he can’t tell Ian.
Lip watches thoughts flicker across his little brother’s face and sighs. Ian has always been the odd one out. The third child, the middle son, the cuckoo in the nest with his flaming hair and quiet nature and even something as horrible as this, he is dealing with it quietly and in his own way.
“You good? I mean, not actually good, but coping?””
“Yeah I’m fine.”
Ian nods and accepts Lip’s embrace.
“If you need anything, call me. I’ll be here. And I’m sorry for causing shit this morning. I was an asshole.”
“Yeah but that’s not exactly new territory for you.”
Ian smirks and Lip grins back, nodding
“You think I should say bye to Mickey and Yev?”
Ian glances over to the climbing frame Yev is dangling upside down from, giggling at Mickey who is clearly trying to coax him down.
“Nah, at least one of them is royally pissed at you.”
“The little one or the kid?”
“Fuck off, Lip.”
Jives and Java
For the final day of Cassiestephkara Week the prompt was Favorite Troupe. Now I couldn’t think of a favorite troupe besides the high school au and I wanted to keep that as a verse for me to play around with more later. As such this is a mesh of a coffee shop au, a meet cute, and an identity reveal. Can also be found here on ao3. Rated G; 1,723 words Cassiestephkara
Steph knew she had to find a summer job but she was hoping to avoid working as a barista. As usual, her luck didn’t quite hold up so she found herself wearing a baseball cap and apron, working a cappuccino machine for the summer. Tim had offered to get her a paid internship at WE but she was still averse to him doing and buying things for her. Though he insisted on coming to her for his coffee and tipping extra, but it was a small, family owned shop with quality brew and pastries so Steph didn’t mind him doing that.
One afternoon as she was wiping down tables the bell over the door jangled causing her to glance up. Tim waved at her as he walked in, trailed behind by two boys and a pair of blondes. Steph’s coworker motioned that she was to come take Tim and company’s order. She grabbed her towel and weaved her way between the tables to behind the counter.
“Hey there Timbo,” she said with a grin. “What can I do ya for?”
Tim smiled and searched his pockets for his wallet. “When do you go on break?”
“Whenever I want. Why?”
“I want you to meet my friends, you know, outside of uniform,” Tim gave her a conspiring wink. Flipping out one of his credit cards he just asked for his usual and whatever the others wanted. She tapped his extra-large black coffee and chocolate croissant into the system and wrote Timmy-boy onto a cup with a little bat, because she thought she was clever. He went off to find a table and the tall dark-haired boy came up to the counter.
“Welcome to Jives and Java! How can I help you? And don’t bother paying, Tim’s already got it covered,” Steph gave her most charming grin as he studied the menu.
“Hi, yeah, uh… I have no idea what I want,” he admitted with a slight grimace.
“Well, do you like sweet or bitter?” Steph asked brightly.
“I’ve got it Kon,” the blonde with curly hair laughed. “Whatever Tim got, give him the exact opposite.” The others all laughed and Steph smirked.
“Well, I normally do that too so I’d go with the cotton candy frappe,” Steph suggested.
The boy wrinkled his nose but the other girl smiled. “I’ll take one of those!”
Steph tapped in the order. “Can I have a name for the cup?”
“Kara, K-A-R-A,” The girl spelled as Steph scribbled it down. On a whim, she drew a heart after the girl’s name.
“Can I have a decaf macchiato with whole milk?” the other boy asked and Steph bobbed her head. “A medium?” Steph grabbed the proper cup and uncapped her sharpie once again, patiently waiting with the tip just above the paper. “Bart. As in Bartholomew. But just the first four letters,” he told her, rapid fire. She wrote it down and added a squiggly lightning bolt on the end. Placing the cup in line on top of the machine she turned back to the last boy, who was actually the first.
“Can I have a cinnamon apple tea? That’s for Conner with an E-R at the end. I know, lame,” he chuckled.
Steph wrinkled her nose and shook her head. “Nah, your order is actually the easiest and so my favorite,” she shot the group a smile. She hadn’t realized that Tim was going to introduce her to his Titan friends, well introduce Steph seeing as how Batgirl already knew them all. Since taking their orders she knew exactly who they were, three of them didn’t wear a mask anyway.
The final girl had finished studying the menu and came closer to the counter. “Can I get a large caramel mocha and a strawberry crepe? For Cassie,” she smiled warmly and Steph returned it. Scribbling the name down she added a star over the I and at the end. She finished ringing everything up and swiped Tim’s card, passing it to Cassie.
Her coworker had already started on the drinks so Steph plated the pastries and grabbed her own cotton candy frappe. “I’m going to go on break then.” Her coworker just shrugged as Steph grabbed the tray and walked to the back corner where the teen heroes had commandeered a table.
She handed out the drinks before flopping into the booth next to Tim, slurping her pink and frothy drink up her straw. Tim practically inhaled the first third of his coffee before realizing that everyone was waiting on him to make introductions. Steph knew she could just introduce herself but she liked forcing the boy blunder to be social. When he realized that he was who they were waiting on he settled the paper cup on the table and self-consciously ran his finger over the black ink of his name. His eye caught on the bat and he shared a self-deprecating grin with her.
“So, this is my friend Steph. Steph these are my, uh, camp friends. Kon, Kara, Cassie, and Bart,” he pointed to each in turn.
“Camp?” Steph asked with a raised brow. “Tim. Really? Camp.” His cheeks colored and the others squirmed uncomfortably. Steph waved her hand at them. “Relax. I know. My only question is, where’s Tam?”
Tim swallowed his coffee quickly before answering. “She’s on vacation with her family. I thought you knew?”
“Practically and actually a Wayne are two very different things,” Steph responded dryly.
Kara’s eyes widened. “No way,” she whispered.
Steph laughed and nodded. “So, what’re you lot doing in Gotham? You know we have strict rules around here.”
“We know he’s off world right now,” Cassie smirked. “Tim said we had to check out the best coffee shop in Gotham, while we could.”
“He also said that it had the best look barista in all of Gotham too,” Kon said with a wink. Steph nearly whacked the back of her head on the booth she laughed so hard. Tim’s eyes narrowed to half Batglare™ level at his best friend. Kon was able to shrug it off but suddenly doubled over with an “Oof!” From Bart’s laughter and the girls’ grins they had apparently elbowed him in the stomach simultaneously.
“I like you friends,” she stage whispered to Tim.
“We like you too! I mean I do, uh like you that is,” Kara stopped as her face reddened.
Bart smiled at her before turning back to address Steph. “You ever in Cali let us know!”
“Trust me, I will. No way I can afford a hotel out there on these tips,” Steph laughed.
“You’re more than welcome to crash in my room,” Cassie said with an easy smile.
“Thanks! I’ve got to head back,” Steph said. She finished her frothy pink drink and slid out of the booth. “I get off at three if you guys are still in town and wanna hang?”
“We were going to head back to the manor and play video games,” Tim said as he looked at the table for their responses.
“Why don’t you guys game and Kara and I can meet Steph and hit the shops?” Cassie suggested.
Everyone nodded and Steph grinned. “Ok! I’ll meet you here at three then,” she said before walking back to the counter.
***
Steph stuffed her apron and hat into her messenger bag as she waved to her coworkers. Cassie and Kara were waiting patiently outside the shop. Kara with her sundress and Cassie with her jean short overalls and crop top, they looked like any two teenagers hanging out on a warm summer afternoon. Not a single Gothamite passing by would have guessed two of the most powerful people in the world were right there playing Pokemon Go. Then again, they didn’t realize the true night life of their first family either.
“Hey guys!” Steph called as she walked towards them.
They both raised their heads from their phones and smiled at her. Kara waved it toward her excitedly. “Look! I caught an Eevee! I know they’re not much of anything but I think they’re adorable. I have about 10 and every evolution,” Kara trailed off as her cheeks started to turn pink.
“Kara, I’m not the type to judge one on their favorite pokemon. Now what team you’re on is another story entirely,” Steph raised her eyebrows imploringly.
Cassie burst out laughing. “Valor all the way!” Steph gave her a victorious high five as Kara’s cheeks turned a deep red. “She’s on Instinct,” Cassie said.
“Aw. That’s actually really cute. Don’t tell anyone I told you this, cause he’d totally kill me, but so is Dami.” Steph clapped Kara on the shoulder. The other girl just looked at her incredulously. “On my own grave I swear it!”
Cassie winced at that. “I don’t mean to be rude but uh, are the death jokes necessary?”
“As Jason says, ‘They’re a coping mechanism’,” Steph shrugged.
Kara exchanged a concerned look with Cassie. Steph noticed Cassie pursing her lips back at Kara. If she knew Cassie better than Steph would have been able to see the concern in her expression too.
“Why don’t we go hit the shopping district? Tim left me his card so we can have some fun,” Steph said, trying to dispel the slight chill that had fallen over the three girls.
“Ok,” Kara said with a bright smile.
“I’m always down to spend Wayne family money,” Cassie smirked.
The three girls left the front of the coffee shop and headed downtown, their blonde hair fluttering in the wind. The rest of the afternoon was a whirlwind of fun. Cassie told them all about her mom’s latest exhibition in Peru and how she had been helping in her free time. Kara talked about moving to the Kent farm and helping with the chores. Feeding the newborn calves was her favorite. Steph entertained them with tales from the coffee shop. Regaling crazy costumers, crazy orders, and just plan odd encounters.
By the end of the day the three had made plans to meet again, this time to go Pokemon hunting in San Francisco. Steph had been so glad that Tim had introduced her, Stephanie Brown that is, to Cassie Sandsmark and Kara Danvers. Hanging out as Batgirl, Supergirl, and Wonder Girl was certainly fun, but as three average girls was ten times better.
Our Top 10 Favorites From Eliquids.com
***WARNING: THE PRODUCTS MENTIONED IN THIS LIST CONTAIN NICOTINE. NICOTINE IS AN ADDICTIVE CHEMICAL. WE DO NOT CONDONE THE USE OF NICOTINE OR NICOTINE BASED PRODUCTS FOR PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 21***
We all know and love our friends over at eliquids.com, I have complied a list below of my personal favorite flavors that are available to purchase over at eliquids.com, for your pleasure I have also included a brief description of why they made my top 10 list and the links that for all of these flavors that you can find over at eliquids.com for a great price! 10. Muffin Man by One Hit Wonder Muffin man blends the cinnamon and apple flavors perfectly for a beautifully sweet flavor. We ranked Muffin Man because the juice perfectly displays the cinnamon flavor without it being too overpowering or harsh. 9. Unicorn Frappe by Juice Man Unicorn Frappe is a combination of flavors including sour blue-raspberry, mango, cotton candy, and whipped cream and what can we say? It tastes exactly like that! I love the sour taste that the blue-raspberry gives off and I have found it's not as sweet as some of the other flavors. 8. Strawberry Kiwi by Air Factory I absolutely LOVE Air Factory, and it isn't often that I come across an eliquid that I buy multiple bottles of. Well let me tell you something, I am currently on my 2nd bottle of this flavor and no mater how much I vape it, it will never get old! The perfectly sweet flavors of the kiwi and strawberry combine to make an amazing flavor! 7. Hulk Tears by Mighty Vapor Hulk Tears is a sour watermelon apple candy flavor and let me tell you something, if it's sour or if it has watermelon in it, I am HERE for the flavor! The only thing is that I have found this is a sweeter juice which means I find myself changing my cotton more often, but it's absolutely worth it for this amazing flavor! 6. Kiwi Black Lemonade by Southern Shade Kiwi Black Lemonade is the perfect flavor for a summer day! The lemonade flavor is slightly sour without being harsh at all and on the exhale you absolutely get the sweetness of the Kiwi. The only thing that I can say about this is I wish the blackberry flavor was a little more prominent but because Southern Shade was able to find the perfect balance of sweetness and sour this is still high up on our top 10 list! 5. All Melon by Naked 100 Like I mentioned before, I am a slut for anything watermelon so it's no surprise that All Melon by Naked 100 made my list! This is a beautiful light flavor that is wonderfully sweet without giving you that sickly sweet flavor. I will say however, the watermelon flavor in this is not as strong as I would hope for but the honey dew and cantaloupe flavor combine so perfectly that I can almost overlook the watermelon flavor. 4. Brain Freeze by Naked 100 I will start this of by saying I am usually not a huge fan of menthol or peppermint flavors. That being said, I think that it combines perfectly with the pomegranate flavor. This juice isn't as sweet as most of the juices on this list but it is still very high in my rankings. 3.  Wild Apple by Air Factory Another Air Factory flavor, who would have guessed? The wild apple juice from Air Factory is a sweet apple flavor with a light juice that holds its flavor beautifully throughout the life of the coil. The flavor isn't too sweet so I don't find myself having to change my cotton as often and the apple flavor is comparable to no others. 2.  Blue Razz by Air Factory This flavor actually won the 2018 vapelection! This flavor tastes exactly like an air head which I should have expected from a great company like Air Factory. They have always been spot on with their flavors and Blue Razz is no different. Great flavor for everyday vaping and not too sweet that I got tired of the flavor, on the contrary, I might actually be purchasing another bottle soon enough! 1. Mystery by Air Factory And finally, the flavor that we have all been waiting for, Mystery flavor by Air Factory. To say this flavor tastes a bit like the mystery flavored air head would be a wild understatement. This tastes so much like the mystery flavored air head that I almost had to stop and make sure that I hadn't eaten one before vaping. This flavor is in my opinion the best flavor that has ever existed and I will be purchasing my 3rd bottle of it very soon.
35 Captivating Peekaboo Highlights
Anjali Sayee December 31, 2018
Peek-a-boo, I see you!
Is your Insta-feed currently flooded with images of hidden hair colors? If yes, you’ve been hit by the peekaboo highlights trend. It’s when you think you know someone’s hair color, but when they move the top layer of hair, it reveals a totally different color. Well, that hair color trend is called peekaboo highlights. It’s also referred to as hidden highlights.
You can choose from a classic red peekaboo to a stunning multicolored one. To get in on the fun, read on!
What Exactly Are Peekaboo Highlights?
Why the name peekaboo?
Have you played a game of peek-a-boo with a child? You cover your eyes, then suddenly open them and say “peek-a-boo!” The sound of laughter from that child is priceless. That’s the kind of joy you’ll feel when you get peekaboo highlights. Peekaboo highlights are colored highlights that are hidden under the top layer of your hair. They are most commonly done at the back of the head. The best thing about this style is that you don’t have to limit yourself to just one or two colors. You can get these peekaboo highlights in as many colors as you want.
Off the bat, I’m going to plead with you to go to a hairstylist to get the perfect peekaboo highlights. It takes a great deal of experience to get these intricate patterns and colors right. So, make an appointment with a professional hairstylist to avoid damaging your hair. Check out the next section to find out how to go about it.
How To Get Peekaboo Highlights
Decide what colors and pattern of peekaboo highlights you want to flaunt. Take your natural hair color, skin tone, and eye color into consideration. You can seek a professional hairstylist’s advice to do so.
Tell your stylist how you normally part your hair to help them figure out where to place the peekaboo highlights.
The stylist will color your hair in sections, leaving the top layer of your hair untouched to hide the peekaboo highlights. They begin coloring at the top, about an inch from the parting, and move downwards. They use foils to keep the hair color from spreading to the parts of your hair that you don’t want to color.
Now, I’m sure you must be wondering how much damage peekaboo highlights unleash on your hair. Don’t worry, you can protect and nourish your hair by following the simple maintenance tips listed in the next section. Check them out!
How To Maintain Peekaboo Highlights
Use a color-safe shampoo and conditioner to prevent your hair color from fading for as long as possible. These products will also nourish your hair that has been left dry and damaged from bleaching.
Use a color-safe shampoo along with a hydrating conditioner to take care of all your newly-colored hair’s needs.
Coloring your hair can dry out and damage it, which can lead to hair loss and breakage. Use a moisturizing hair mask to add protein and hydration to your tresses and get rejuvenated and healthy hair.
Oil your hair twice a week. Massage warm oil into your scalp and hair to nourish them. This not only prevents hair damage but also adds shine to your hair.
For two to three weeks immediately after you’ve colored your hair, don’t tie your hair in tight ponytails or braids. Your hair is already fragile, and tying it tightly can cause a lot of breakage. Instead of tight ponytails and updos, opt for messy buns and loose braids.
Brush your hair gently. Start at the ends and work your way up. Don’t pull your brush at the knots; detangle them gently. This might seem strenuous, but it is good for your locks in the long run – colored or not.
To keep your highlights looking fresh, get regular touch-ups done. Ask your stylist how often should you get them done and keep at it. You’ll have perfect highlights that don’t look washed out or faded. Your grown-out roots can also be colored during the touch-ups, so your peekaboo game is on point.
Now that you know how to get and maintain peekaboo highlights, let’s check out the top 35 ways that you can style them!
35 Captivating Peekaboo Highlights Styles
1. Chocolate Brown And Lilac
Okay, first of all, that asymmetrical bob is on point! Chocolate brown hair acts as a curtain for light lilac hair in this look. This peekaboo highlights style is perfect for the fall. The brown and lilac go surprisingly well together and look great on fair skin.
2. Pop Of Purple
Were you waiting as eagerly as I was to see which color the peekaboo highlights were? Just a pop of purple done up in peekaboo highlights creates a look that is to die for. It adds a 3D effect to this blonde and brunette color combo.
3. Monochrome
Sinatra or Martin? Marvel or DC? Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network? These are iconic choices, just like the age-old black or white. But, sometimes, black and white can join forces to create a surreal peekaboo hairstyle.
4. Denim
The denim fad has been around for ages, and it’s not going anywhere. It should come as no surprise that it’s also been made into a hair color. This color is deep but vibrant, which makes it great for women who want just a subtle pop of color.
5. Purple And Blue
Have you ever seen the stunning salvia and lithodora flowers? They are the most gorgeous shades of purple and blue that you’ll ever see. Purple symbolizes a woman’s fire while blue stands for calmness, thus making for the perfect blend of femininity.
6. Burnt Highlights
Peekaboo highlights aren’t always hidden. Look at this lovely auburn hue in the front that blends well with the brown hair at the back. You can see a brilliant burnt hint all over her brown locks. This is the perfect hair color for the winter.
7. Wino Mix
When the world seems to shine like you’ve had too much wine, that’s amore. Famous singer Dean Martin was known for having a glass of alcohol in hand while singing. But did you know that most of the tipple was cider? Coming back to the topic, though, wine peekaboo highlights look gorgeous and give a mysterious feel.
8. Woody Composition
Have you ever carved your initials on a tree? If you haven’t, I’m sure you’ve at least seen a movie in which it’s done. The dark brown reveals a pale white inside when carved. This wintery peekaboo highlights look reminds me of that.
9. Blonde Peekaboo
Black hair that ends in a burnt orange ombre with blonde peekaboo highlights – this hair color is all warmth and fire. It’s perfect for those autumn and winter nights when it’s cold outside and cozy inside. The curls at the ends round off this look beautifully.
10. Unicorn Blend
Hello, unicorns! I haven’t tried the unicorn frappe, but these peekaboo highlights make me want to go get one right now. My mind immediately went to Avril Lavigne rocking out to ‘Sk8er Boi’ thanks to this blonde, purple, and pink mix. The purple adds a rich depth to this look. And, let’s not forget the blue that pulls you in like the ocean.
11. Pink Pop
Imagine tying this hair in a high ponytail – it would totally dazzle! The brightness of the pink stands out starkly against the darkness of the black hair. This is ideal for tweens, teen, and young adults.
12. Mermaid Tales
