we're getting that back tuck down folks! as you can see I did not expect coach to only throw up a single hand here but I also couldn't argue it, so the next one I did (sadly no vid) was entirely unassisted.

So anyway let the records show that you can absolutely still get better at gymnastics at 35 and after a 6 year break

Survived cardiac rehab day one

Fucking drenched in sweat and exhausted

They are trying to kill me

#ok obviously not really. they are trying to increase my cardiac health #but cripes almighty #there was an education portion which was no big. mostly stuff i already know about handling stress #then resistance training. oh god. the resistance training #we were supposed to do squats at one point #and i couldn't. i fell backwards against the wall twice and then an exercise therapist came over and showed me an alternative #room full of 20+ cardiac patients. half of them with canes or walkers #and when we walked laps... every one of those fuckers was lapping me #i felt so pathetic it was all i could do not to cry #anyway. i managed not to cry. i walked three laps. i got home. i'm going to eat a yogurt now #mod post #health stuff #cardiac rehab #i am gonna try to do my physio stretches so i won't be too stiff tomorrow but honestly #i'm afraid i'm gonna be crippled for several days now. we'll see

at the end of my fucking rope with "conversations" about k12 chronic absenteeism.

#sorry. work rant #next time you read a headline about it think to yourself. why is it schools' job to get kids to come to school.#why do schools have to bend over backward to cater to kids #kids not wanting to go to school is an extremely common occurrence #the difference now is that the responsibility is being shifted off kids and parents and onto schools #i get that schools can do better i really do #i think there is a shared responsibility #but there is a profound belief across society that school is not important and does not matter #and that needs to be addressed too #i'd say 99% of the examples i hear of systemic school problems are actually just examples of individual bad actors #again. schools have issued that need to be addressed! the public school system has profound inequities!#but when the only problems you point out are 'a kid was mean to my kid' or 'a teacher wasn't as nice as they could be'#you're not interested in changing the system #you're interested in changing your kid's experience #and guess what. demonizing school staff sure isn't going to fix anything #at this point I don't see myself ever going back to teaching #you know who will go into teaching? people who don't give a shit.#and that's not going to help anything either.#you can't attract people who care when people who care are punished and chased out #imagine if instead of constantly bringing up the worst possible examples and insisting they are representative of everyone #the good examples were celebrated and rewarded #same thing happens with the medical profession btw #and again. lots of legitimate examples of harm #(i'm fat ffs i know this)#and also I think it's dangerous to have people delegitimizing medicine to the point that crystals are seen as just as valid as a doctor #sorry. separate rant.#but still. delegitimizing professions that require knowledge skill and training is how we get thousands of unqualified people #homeschooling their kids and treating them with herbs they got from their local Etsy witch

Another thing I loved - and that cut deep - about all of us strangers is how authentically croydon it is. It was apparently the first feature film set and shot in croydon, and my god - the detail from the shitty southern trains adam takes to get in and out (the same shitty southern trains I take), the accuracy of the line names and stations along the way, the feel of the suburbs, the way london is both right there and feels like a faraway land -- it is all so real. I also watched it in a cinema in croydon and when they said "let's go to your favourite place in the world, the next best place after Disneyland: the whitgift centre" we made a collective sound. Our shitty whitgift centre at the heart of this movie. And in a movie whose themes are so close to my heart and lived experience, getting that local feel -- I felt so seen.

#all of us strangers #there is a scene in which adam is on a train going to his parents house in a backward facing seat #which is thematically so poignant bc where he is going IS the past he is going *back*#and at the same time that is exactly how those trains work - sometimes all you get is a backward facing seat #and that authenticity adds worlds to an already exquisite film #and i think that you can connect to even if u arent from croydon or live in croydon #also as many of you know inaccuracies re londons transport network are my ultimate bugbear in stories #so it was extra satisfying #also yes: i am aware the director used his own childhood home as adams

okay so i recognize and respect this is a very very tiny gem in a field of shit but the empty subway station five keeps accidentally jumping to is actually a whole meal for me because this is exactly the kind of vaguely creepy vibe i've had in mind for the Walkway from day fucking one

#i've actually had it in my notes for a while that there's an alternate version of the walkway that resembles a subway station #and if five boards the train it will drop him off in an entirely new universe #but this isn't a method he employs very often because it requires more power for him to reach the station than the hotel #and the way to get on and off the train is more complicated than going through the doors in the hotel #but now i'm foaming at the mouth that i've got actual canon footage of him wandering the station.....#even the voice playing backwards on the intercom system is PERFECT #s4 liveblogging

Need someone to make a “you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me” meme but with old school runescape

#GOD it was such a ride #my first ever account got hacked by someone who was doing that ‘runescape censors your password even if you type it backwards’ scam lol #another time i got scammed in a trade #someone pretended they were going to give me this whole set of armour in exchange for some gems i had #then took them back at the last second so i lost my gems #it was just uncut emeralds but i was really upset about it #i hadn’t figured out what to do with them yet so i thought they were valuable #some people there were SUPER nice though #i remember cutting down some trees on a new account; trying to get my woodcutting skill up #and a level 3 person with the default avatar walked up and started cutting down a yew tree. i & everyone else around was shook #someone said like ‘yo are you a bot or an alt or something’ and he said ‘oh i just don’t train combat. i don’t find it interesting’#he had like level 70 in woodcutting and a lot of others but never did combat #i also befriended somebody who was way higher level than me just randomly and we used to talk whenever we were both online lol #i complimented her ‘socks’ (actually boots) and she straight up showed me the dungeon you can go through to get them #which was awesome #and then when the grand exchange opened i lost like a weekend of my life #i was always getting nerfed by random events as well. that was the other thing #i really miss it sometimes. i don’t miss how grindy it was though #i think that was why i liked to train combat. it felt like less of a grind because you could break it up by picking up loot and organising #your loot. i used to always train prayer by burying the bones as well lol #on my best account i had probably level 20 prayer due to this #tl;dr you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me (2006 runescape)#personal

ive been making a google slides for lobcorp. made a whole employee sheet for it to fill out . made numerous plans. drawn for it. but not play it. because thinking about opening lobcorp day 49 gives me FEAR. dear lord. i do have a good long (long long) plan thought out of how to handle the day with HOPEFULLY minimal deaths but honestly. erm. . . good heavens. actually talking abt the employee template i might clean it up and post it on here just for the sake of fun considering i did end up spending a few hours fighting it google docs (i honestly shouldn't have made it on google docs its held together with duct tape and a dream rn i need to fix that)
