Being too proud to stop and ask for directions— except you’re an overstimulated girl with four beverages crowding your desk and you just need the RIGHT Noise Reduction setting on Audition.

Looking up art tutorials on Youtube is the worst because for every video that has a nice descriptive title like "tips for doing x thing" or "drawing x tutorial" there's a dozen other videos titled shit like "you SUCK at drawing x thing!" and the thumbnail with have "This one mistake is RUINING your LIFE" in big red text and there will be an arrow pointing at some art labelling it "fuckhead idiot drawing made by some dipshit" and then you click on the actual video and it spends two minutes going "boy i sure did struggle to draw before i knew this one tip. drawing was soooo hard. My life would have been sooo much easier if i knew this thing" and then when it gets to the actual tip it's always just some variation on like. "heh. you gotta practice lots 🥴".

A gift drawing of Jordana for the very kind @astra-the-dragon
When I first saw Obelisks I thought there was no way I would be able to draw them without major problems but actually it was pretty nice, the mane was ridiculously fun to draw!

i wonder what the mutuals that arent familiar with mouthwash think it's about. Like, just based on the stuff i reblog. like you guys probably don't interact with the text posts (very valid and i recommend you dont for your mental wellbeing) but i assume you Have seen the art............. and i can only imagine at least one of you must be confused as to why these madmen are eating bloody cakes and unironically drinking mouthwash and this girl that looks like Shelley Duval has a gun

Dialogue added, with both quick comments and cutscenes that pause the game! I also modified how the gel works, modeled after UtK2 instead of UtK1, because I like it better this way. ALSO I added tool durability, but I didn't think to show that off lol

Trying a new art medium is so frustrating... I don't know enough to know if it's not turning out the way I want because of my ability, my (probably crappy) materials, or the quality of tutorials I'm watching

i just realized. re: the very long this post.
in ultimate ventriloquist's murder trial. the victim was monokuma.
like. nobody actually died. and junko would probably think that killing off the puppet that killed monokuma was an equivalent exchange. good bit, good fun, reset to center, no more puppets as people, the joke ran its route, good on everyone!
ultimate ventriloquist wasn't supposed to actually die. it was...it was a bit. a joke!
no wonder it gave junko the shakes.
....
this is either a case 2 or a case 4. i'm not sure which.
probably a case 4.

#going into this game knowing it's a deep puzzle game where every little detail could matter : i gotta write Everything down#2 hours later : maybe i'm overthinking this maybe not everything is super relevant i'll just see#2 more hours later : i gotta write everything down and make a spreadsheet and draw a map and hire benoit blanc#christ how compelling this fucking thing is. i don't even know what specifically makes it scratch my brain so well but#ourgh#i don't want to say anything that could be a spoiler because it really is a game you must go in with 0 knowledge of it#but god... realizing that One element that's in basically every room had a common pattern#and having to solve a fucking riddle every time to find what the pattern is leading to#AND STILL NOT KNOWING WTF I'M MEANT TO DO WITH THE ANSWERS I GET OUT OF THEM GKFJFJDJD#i'm gonna gnaw my skin off#so anyway. it's a puzzle escape room-ish roguelike#you're in a mansion where YOU get to pick which room is behind every door you open#so it's your job to create the layout of the mansion and make sure you avoid being stuck with dead ends everywhere#you've got a limited amount of energy to explore. the rooms you can pick from when you reach a door are random.#you're gonna need to find keys you're gonna need to find coins you're gonna need to find gems#there's special rooms that have specific roles there's nothingburger hallways there's little minigames#there's items you can find that help you like a shovel or a hammer you can break chests open with#but anyway when you're out of energy or when you've nowhere left to go your run ends and everything in the mansion is reset#(except for very specific things you unlock which i won't detail)#so you basically start over Except with all the knowledge that you've gathered on your previous attempts#so maybe you found a password for something and then in the new run you find the thing the password unlocks#your main goal is to reach a very specific room at the other end of the mansion AND EVEN THEN#i haven't reached it myself but i imagine even if you manage to get there there's probably Something you need to do/have done#to really succeed like there is A LOT GOING ON#you're dropped in there no tutorial except little notes you find around the mansion no NPCs just you and your map#it's fucking brilliant if you're into puzzle games and mysteries and don't mind “slow” gameplay try it ouuuuut#it's still a bit RNG based what with being a roguelike but that's the thing innit#you keep going because you hope you'll eventually find all the right things in the right place for you to put together

x means that string is silent. the number is the fret you need to set. pause the video & look at the neck of the guitar to see what I mean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
numbers are saved tabs (I use the numpad to switch rather than with the mouse or regular number keys. it's way easier). letters are the QWERTY keys you click.
X X means a slight pause between clicking the letter keys/strings
X-X means click those keys back to back
XX means click those keys at the same time

Things I wish I had read in "beginner" sewing tutorials/people had told me before I started getting into sewing
You have to hem *everything* eventually. Hemming isn't optional. (If you don't hem your cloth, it will start to fray. There are exceptions to this, like felt, but most cloth will.)
The type of cloth you choose for your project matters very much. Your clothing won't "fall right" if it's not the kind of stretchy/heavy/stiff as the one the tutorial assumes you will use.
Some types of cloth are very chill about fraying, some are very much not. Linen doesn't really give a fuck as long as you don't, like, throw it into the washing machine unhemmed (see below), whereas brocade yearns for entropy so, so much.
On that note: if you get new cloth: 1. hem its borders (or use a ripple stitch) 2. throw it in the washing machine on the setting that you plan to wash it going forward 3. iron it. You'll regret it, if you don't do it. If you don't hem, it'll thread. If you don't wash beforehand, the finished piece might warp in the first wash. If you don't iron it, it won't be nice and flat and all of your measuring and sewing will be off.
Sewing's first virtue is diligence, followed closely by patience. Measure three times before cutting. Check the symmetry every once in a while. If you can't concentrate anymore, stop. Yes, even if you're almost done.
The order in which you sew your garment's parts matters very much. Stick to the plan, but think ahead.
You'll probably be fine if you sew something on wrong - you can undo it with a seam ripper (get a seam ripper, they're cheap!)
You can use chalk to draw and write on the cloth.
Pick something made out of rectangles for your first project.
I recommend making something out of linen as a beginner project. It's nearly indestructible, barely threads and folds very neatly.
Collars are going to suck.
The sewing machine can't hurt you (probably). There is a guard for a reason and while the needle is very scary at first, if you do it right, your hands will be away from it at least 5 cm at any given time. Also the spoils of learning machine sewing are not to be underestimated. You will be SO fast.
I believe that's all - feel free to add unto it.

its like. not even funny how much more comfortable left handed knitting is. i dont even mind working on my sock like this, the small needles combined with magic loop were really adding to the discomfort right handed
