Mikaelson fluff
some small bright spots of joy to combat the sad I keep writing.
---
The first time Kol realised he was taller than Elijah he couldn’t help but crow about it, pleased and proud, Klaus and Finn had joined him in his mocking by asking if it was hard, Elijah had been good about it, letting out loud put-upon sighs, and reminded them all the things he was better at.
The teasing had died down after that until Rebekah had earnestly promised Elijah she would be kinder to him when she also got taller than him.
Elijah had quickly declared Henrik his favourite when he had sworn never to outgrow him, which Henrik had taken in seriousness, stuck his tongue out at them and pulled his ‘best brother’ away.
For the next couple of weeks, all of them kept finding their belongings out of their reach, it only stopped when they discovered Henrik on Elijah’s shoulders red-handed, tying Finn's favourite belt on a branch high above on the tree closest to his hut.

Travelling the world with Klaus:
When Klaus had promised to take you around the world, well you thought it was joke. A way to get you to go out with him.
And then when you finally agreed to go on a date with him, he began planning all your trips.
You weren’t exactly expecting a plane ride to Italy when he asked if you wanted to go out for pasta. “Klaus…why are we at the airport?” “Well you didn’t expect store bought did you?”
Once you fell asleep in your bed and woke up in his arms in the middle of Mexico. “How did you get me on the plane??” “I didn’t want to wake you when in such a peaceful state”
That time you ran out of cheese so he booked to go to France. “you know this isn’t what I meant” “Just put your belt on so we can take off, love”
He always makes sure to pack a lot of film for your camera. After the Mexico incident where he didn’t pack anything…including your phones…and you complained that you had not proof of you going-expect for the tan and the new wardrobe- he learnt to be fully prepared for the full tourist experience
Thankfully he is your guide, he’s been everywhere a hundred times and made sure to know everything possible to give you the best possible time.
The Louvre and the Hermitage Museum were particularly important to both of you. Klaus had been unbelievably nervous to show you, his words tumbled from his lips as he attempted to give history to the pieces. And when you noticed a few of his own paintings hung up and him trying to usher you away as his cheeks lit up, you couldn’t help the feeling of awe that you got. He was truly something else.
Another key highlight to your adventures was just sitting in the sun.
Lead down on your front in a little bikini while his hands massage sunscreen into your back.
Having your own infinity pool where you watch the sunset together. His lips on your neck as the moon rises, the stars lighting up the sky as his fingers slide the straps down your shoulders.
He’s taken you on cruises, helped you swim with dolphins, watched in admiration as you fed the stay cats and dogs in Thailand, sit patiently while you get your hair braided and styled, taken you dancing to teach you how the different cultures do it, carried you up a mountain and then panicked as you half skied/half fell back down it.
Bringing you to see the Northern Lights with you lead against his chest, hands in his as you both remained in a moments of utter bliss.
You having to hold him up as he tries to ice skate without killing himself and everyone else.
Trying to get him to put his hand out with the deer food in it without flinching when the animal licks his hand. “I don’t like it” “If you do it, I promise to do whatever you want later”
Having an entire book of blackmail worthy photos of Klaus.
Him having to do a full 360 before doing anything in fear of the camera catching him.
Him keeping his sketchbook present at all times to capture your beauty in every country of the world.
It’s just a dream come true.

and an image of reynevan pleading innocent like the crying cat meme flashed across my mind
#szarlej: if the sorcerer does not fit you must acquit!!#you know we were robbed of a scene where szarlej pretends to be reynevan’s lawyer? that should have happened at least once#what is with bandits robbing tax collectors in sapkowski’s novels??#you know of all the get rich quick schemes out there robbing a tax collector has REALLY dropped off in terms of popularity#i guess this is what happens when you study foreign trade - economics and then have an interest in medieval history#im still like omg. raubritters were a thing you didnt just make that up? that’s fucked up. but cool that it wasn’t made up. but fucked up#and it’s literally raub + ritter. obvious german should be obvious#the first is a cognate and the second i know from rittersporne which guess how i know that 🙄#anyways…#you know… if angoulême still had friends around there’s a less than zero chance they would have tried to jump regis#he would hear it coming from a mile away (… maybe literally) and just disappear around a street corner#or… hide under a rock… like canonically. honestly still not sure why he did that.#ITS THE FULL MOON. YOU CAN FLY#regis answer = ‘idk… i got scared 😥😥…’#honestly interesting conundrum because too many ideas i have seen are like ‘someone tries to fuck with a vampire they get ripped to shreds’#which ok wish fulfillment i get it but#consider that 1. regis is nonviolent and would likely put someone to sleep over kill them#2. they are teenage hooligans 3. he understands teenager hooliganism#honestly he would pacify them and then while their eyes are empty he would just be like giving some solid life advice#bandits: standing with head drooped. probably drooling on themselves | regis: sounding like a turn your life around podcast#the elbow-high diaries#not even interesting post sorry just totally ramble nonsense here

Can you imagine how much better the last two seasons of legacies would have been if Hope and Landon decided to stay forgotten by the people at the school. They would have went to New Orleans, got Hopes family to remember. Together they would have gotten answers to everything they needed. They would’ve found a way to defeat malivore that didn’t involve Hope becoming a full tribrid before she actually wanted to. And that didn’t involve Landon being sacrifice unnecessary again.

The Old Me Never Left
Kai Parker x Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist - Join My Taglist!
Requested by Anon! Hope you like it!
Fandom: The Vampire Diaries
Summary: Kai's SO gets grabbed by some witches in an attempt to make him cooperate, but those witches forgot exactly who they were dealing with.
Word Count: 1,635
Category: Angst, Fluff
A/N: Just a heads up, this has a little more description of violence and the reader in peril than my works usually do! Still very canon-typical for TVD though.
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
My favorite song blasted through my headphones as I walked, the sun gently shining down and making the world around me the perfect temperature. A light breeze blew across my face and I'd just picked up my favorite drink from my favorite cafe. It should've been the perfect moment.
Instead of enjoying the day, however, I was busy glancing in the reflective windows of buildings I passed, trying to keep an eye on the two people behind me. They'd been behind me for a while now, including at the coffee shop I'd stopped at, and my mental warning meter had quickly clicked into the red.
Since I regularly involved myself with supernaturals, especially since I'd started dating one, I'd had to be more on guard than ever for someone coming after me for something to do with all that. Very much inconvenient and sometimes truly terrifying, but lucky for me, I had a secret weapon.
Kai Parker. My boyfriend, and a siphoner-witch who just happened to be one of the most powerful people around. No matter if the threat behind me was supernatural or just regular humans being a problem, I knew Kai could and would take care of it for me.
I sped up slilghtly, chucking my still half-full drink in the trash and pulling my phone out of my pocket. Despite myself, my heart started racing faster, especially as I noticed the people behind me getting noticeably closer the next time I checked in a window. I quickly dialed Kai's number and held the phone to my ear, speeding up even more when I heard running footsteps behind me.
"Hey, sweetheart," came Kai's voice as I started running. I could hear his smile through the phone. "What's up?"
"Kai, I need you to come find me," I said, my voice urgent, the words coming out between fast breaths. "I was on my way to the park. I'm like a block or two away, coming from our cafe, and these people are following me-"
I heard someone behind me shout a word I didn't know, and a moment later, a splitting pain tore through my head. I screamed and fell to the ground, but I knew making a scene wouldn't help; these people were clearly witches. The extra seconds I'd had to talk to Kai were likely only because they'd been busy casting spells to hide me from passerby when I went down.
Vaguely, as I hit the pavement and the world went dark around me, the pounding in my head echoing throughout my body, I thought I heard Kai's voice. He sounded panicked, and he kept repeating my name over and over. I wanted to talk to him. I needed to talk to him, to reassure him, to help him with whatever had him freaking out. But I couldn't make myself move, especially not through the pain.
Finally, everything else faded to black, the pain disappearing with the rest of the world as Kai's voice danced through my head for one last blissful moment. And then he was gone, too.
****************
When I woke up, not everything came back to me right away. I wasn't totally sure where I was or how I'd gotten here, but I knew one thing: my body hurt.
Everything, top to bottom, ached or screamed at me in some way. And when the memories started coming back, of the witches and the panic in Kai's voice on the phone, my heart started clenching in my chest, too.
"Look who's awake."
A gruff voice drew my attention to a few figures in front of me. I couldn't totally make them out, my vision still a little blurry, but they clearly weren't friends.
"Who... are you?" I managed to groan. I tried to move, but found myself bound tightly to a chair. My head swam, a pain like a spike still focused into my forehead.
"We're friends of your boyfriend," said one in a tone that clearly meant the opposite. I groaned.
"What do you... want?"
"We want him to get in line," the one in the middle said. "The powerful heretic, wrongful leader of the Gemini Coven, finally has a weakness—you—so it's time for him to start playing nice."
I huffed a laugh which immediately turned into a painful cough. Still, I smiled and shook my head, even as it made the world spin beneath me.
"You're all fools. You can't control Kai, especially not like this."
"Oh, I think you're underestimating your importance to him significantly," said the one in the lead. I started to respond, but a familiar voice piped up from the back of the room before I could.
"Mm, I don't think this has anything to do with 'underestimating importance'. More like... one person in this room knows who I am, and everyone else forgot."
The men before me whirled around, giving me a clear line of sight to Kai as my vision finally started returning to normal. I swear at least half the adrenaline melted out of my body at the sight of him leaning casually against the doorframe of whatever room we were in. He looked completely casual and calm, until his eyes locked onto me. The teasing smile dropped from his face as he straightened, then faced the other witches again. The smile came back, but this time it had a much sharper edge to it.
"You know, it's funny," he said, voice like a steel blade. "People seem to think that just because I've chosen a peaceful life with someone I love, that I lost all my powers, or something. But I can tell you all right now: the Kai Parker of your nightmares didn't go anywhere."
The witches between Kai and I shifted nervously, removing his direct line to me and shifting backwards in my direction.
"You better be careful, Parker," said the one in the lead, all of the arrogance and confidence gone from his voice despite his attempt to posture. "You do what we say, or-"
He didn't get to finish his sentence before Kai raised a hand, magically yanking the witch forward and striking out with a knife in his other hand, stabbing the witch straight through the heart. The whole room froze in shock as Kai just held him there for a minute, surely siphoning the magic out of his body, before letting him fall to the floor limp and dead.
The minute his body hit the ground, the remaining witches sprang into action. Most of them tried to focus fire on Kai, but one dropped back towards me, moving to stand behind me and my chair. In the time it took him to cross the room, Kai made quick work of the rest of his friends, draining all of their power before finishing them off and dropping them with their fallen leader.
"Stop!" shouted the one behind me. "Don't make another move or I'll- ah!"
He screamed, and I heard a sound like him dropping to his knees. Before me, Kai had one hand extended, a thunderous look on his face. He scrunched his hand into a fist, and the man behind me fell silent, other than the sound of his body hitting the floor.
Just like that, the rage melted off Kai's face. He crossed the room to me in a second, dropping to his knees before me and gently running his hands over my forearms and thighs. A moment later, the bonds holding me fell away.
"Are you alright, baby?" he asked, eyes wide with concern as his hands ghosted over my body, simultaneousy checking for injury while reassuring him I was really here. "I'm so sorry they hurt you. I came as fast as I could."
I nodded shakily, rubbing at my wrists before running a hand down Kai's face. He leaned into the touch, his eyes instantly romaing my expression.
"I'm okay now," I said, voice still a little breathy. "I'm okay. I knew you'd come for me."
"I'll always come for you. Nothing in the world could keep me away. Nothing." I nodded, a smile making its way onto my face as Kai brushed a few tears from my cheek that I hadn't realized had fallen. "And now, none of them are ever going to hurt you again."
Kai's eyes darkened a little as he said it, so I brushed my thumb across his cheek and gave him a small smile. Just like that, the shadows vanished from his face again as his eyes focused on me. I leaned forward and Kai did the same, our lips meeting a moment later in a soft, sweet kiss. I felt the warm tingle of magic flowing across my skin, erasing all the last aches and pains, until Kai and I finally pulled apart.
A fluttering smile made its way onto Kai's face as his eyes scanned mine again. Finally, he sighed.
"You ready to go home, sweetheart?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I am."
"Me too."
Kai shot me a wink as he scooped me into his arms, then carried me out of the room, stepping carefully over the bodies he'd left in his wake. He held me a little tighter to him as we left the room, and I buried my head in his chest. Kai and I had both changed a lot since we'd first met, but at the end of the day, we were still the same people. He would still do anything for me, and although it didn't come up as often, I would do anything for him. And no one, be they murderous witches or particularly rude people I happened to cross paths with in my daily life, stood at chance at bringing the two of us down.

Doppelgänger
Benny Weir x Fem!Reader
MBAV Masterlist
Warning(s): near-death, canon-level violence
Request: can be found here.
Notes: This is a mix of multiple things that we’ve seen in MBAV episodes while also stealing a little bit of plot from the Vampire Diaries. Hope you like it!
PS: I kinda want to make this into a full fledged fic because I had so many ideas that were hard to package into a one-shot but we’ll see if I ever actually do that.
Summary: A doppelganger traps you in a mirror dimension and slowly sucks the life out of you so it can take your place. Will Benny and friends save you in time? (yes obviously, but the suspense)
Tumblr media
You stare across the room, into the only window in the otherwise dark room, the yellow glow of it staring back at you.
It was a tragic way to die, in a place without light, where your loved ones would never find you. All the while a cheap copy of you wandered freely, fooling your friends and your Benny.
Benny. Would you ever get to see him again?
Perhaps you’d get lucky and he would peer into the mirror so his eyes would be the last thing you saw before the life finished draining from you.
He’d probably feel so guilty, think it was all his fault.
But it wasn’t.
If there was anyone to blame, it was the vampire who seemed a regular bane to the existence of White Chapel and its inhabitants.
Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?
In the school’s theater, in a dressing room we’ve seen before, lies a cracked mirror that once held the spirit of Olivia Frye. And while her spirit no longer posses it, that doesn’t mean the magic of the mirror is gone.
The vanity lights flicker on in the otherwise dark room, illuminating the pale face and blue eyes of Jesse Black.
Reaching into his pocket, Jesse pulls out Benny’s spellbook.
He opens it on a marked page, running his fingers across the paper before reading aloud: “Zacaroth Maznacaroth. Dimitte hunc spiritum e carcere, ut iterum vivant.”
As he reads, the mirror begins to repair itself, the cracks sealing up. But as they are doing so, a mist also starts to leak from the glass.
A grin spreads across Jesse’s lips and he chuckles darkly. “Welcome back, my dear.”
Before him stands the ghostly figure of who appears to be you, but she’s faded, missing the color in her body that signifies life. Except for her eyes that shine the same unnatural blue as Jesse’s.
The following morning, you, Ethan, and Benny are walking down the hallway of White Chapel High as Benny searches in vain for his spellbook.
“Are you sure you didn’t accidentally make it vanish again?” Ethan asks.
“No, it was in here last night I swear,” Benny says before groaning and angrily throwing his bag closed. “The one day I wanted to make Ms. Fine forget about our essays and the thing disappears! It’s like it knows when I’m using it for evil. You think my grandma put a spell on it?”
“If she was gonna do that, she’d have done it long before now,” Ethan replies.
“You know, if you started memorizing your spells like you talk about, this wouldn’t be a problem,” You say.
“And if you had agreed to strip studying I would have tried,”
“Okay, gross,” Ethan says, pulling a face.
“Y/N.”
You perk your head up, looking around the hallway for whoever said your name, finding no one in a sea of faces.
“Y/N.”
You turn around, following the voice but still seeing no one.
“Hey.”
You jump as Benny’s hand touches your shoulder.
“Are you okay?”
You let out a breath and smile at him. “Yeah, I just thought I heard someone call my name. It’s probably nothing.”
Benny nods and pulls you closer to him, his arm wrapping around your shoulder as you continue your trail to your lockers.
The voices persisted as the day went on, bothering you in class and at lunch, making you feel scared and crazy. Not to mention incredibly distracted.
It made it hard to focus on math or science and especially English where you were meant to be reading Shakespeare and reviewing essays.
“Ms. L/N.”
Ms. Fine startles you out of your stupor and you hurriedly hand her your rough draft, printed and stapled together.
“Are you feeling alright?” She asks and you make a quick decision.
“Actually, I’m feeling a little sick. Can I be excused for the nurses office?”
“Sure. But hurry back.”
You nod and gather your things, exchanging a glance with Benny and Ethan each before leaving.
You really did plan to go to the nurses office until you could talk to your friends, but that damn voice started bothering you again. And in an otherwise empty hallway, it was hard to ignore.
“Y/N.”
“Oh, I’m gonna regret this,” you mumble before heading in the direction of the voice.
You follow it all the way to the theater, which is dark except for the light coming from one of the dressing rooms.
“Please don’t be a ghost,” you whisper to yourself. “Or a vampire, werewolf, ghoul, zombie, whatever. Let me be having a psychotic break because of stress and this voice isn’t real.”
You cautiously peak into the room...and find nothing.
The room is empty except for the vanity and chair. And the voice has gone quiet.
Shaking your head, you walk into the room and sit down in the chair. “Maybe I am going crazy.”
Your a little startled by your reflection, which is pale even under the warm lighting.
“...or maybe I’m actually sick.”
You press a hand to your face, checking for a temperature, watching as your reflection does the same.
Letting your hand drop, you observe the mirror more closely, eyebrows furrowing together.
“Wait a minute, wasn’t this mirror-”
You let out a scream as your reflection surges forward and pulls you into the mirror before jumping out in your place.
You collapse on a cold floor, hurriedly standing back up and rushing toward the mirror’s opening but your reflection holds out a hand, causing the mirror to seal back up and trap you inside.
“Sorry,” she says. “But I can’t have two of us running around to ruin my plans.”
You bang on the glass. “Hey! Stop! Let me out!”
But she’s already gone, leaving the room and shutting the door, enveloping you in darkness.
“Didn’t you see the look on her face?” Benny asks. “Something’s wrong.”
“I’m sure she’s fine,” Ethan replies. “It’s probably just a headache. You know how too much supernatural stuff gets to her sometimes.”
“Yeah, but this was different. She’s been hearing voices all day. I’m starting to worry this is something bad.”
Benny pushes open the door to the nurse’s office, expecting to find you laying there but instead the small bed was empty.
“Can I help you boys?” The nurse asks from her desk.
“Uh, sorry, but did Y/N L/N come in here earlier?”
“No, I haven’t seen her in here today.”
Benny feels a pit in his stomach. “Right, thank you.”
He closes the door and exchanges a look with Ethan. “She didn’t come back to class and she didn’t come here. So where is she?”
Ethan looks a little more worried now. “I don’t know.”
“Oh, hey, Y/N,” Rory says.
Not-you turns to look at him and Rory is taken aback.
“You okay? You’re paler than usual. Did you get bitten by a vampire? Attacked by an abominable snowman? Possessed by a ghost?”
Not-you smiles. “Oh, no, I’m actually an ancient doppelgänger who just looks like Y/N.”
Rory’s eye go wide. “Woah, really? That’s so cool. But...why’re you telling me?”
Not-you pats him on the head. “Cause you’re not smart enough to try and stop me.”
“Oh. Yeah that’s fair. Where’re you off to anyway?”
Not-you hums. “I’m smart enough not to tell you that.”
“Oh, great,” you mumble, watching as your battery drops another percentage, but the bars never move from zero.
How are you supposed to call for help?
It’s chilling, sitting in the dark with nothing but your phone for light. Your eyes can’t even adjust to the darkness because there’s nothing to see; you’re in a void.
A headache is slowly making itself known and you can’t be sure if its from staring at your phone screen or because a doppelgänger trapped you in a mirror.
The supernatural always has a way of giving you a headache. Doesn’t matter what it is.
Ethan can hardly touch you because if he has a vision, you’ll have a migraine for the rest of the week. If Erica, Sarah, or Rory use their superspeed around you, you’ll nearly faint.
Benny’s the only one who can use his powers and not effect you. You aren’t sure why.
He likes to joke that it’s because your soulmates.
“I don’t know, E, I just have a bad feeling about this,” Benny says. “Sarah! Have you seen Y/N?”
Sarah, who was just putting her bag on her shoulder at her locker, turns to the boys. “No, is she missing?”
“Yeah we haven’t seen her since English and Benny’s freaking out,” Ethan replies.
“Aw, does Benny miss his girlfriend?”
“No, I mean yes, but that’s not what I’m worried about. She’s been hearing voices all day, what if something spooky got her?”
Sarah smiled. “Benny, if something spooky was happening we would surely know by now. Ethan would’ve had a vision or Rory would pop in with some information he doesn’t realize is important.”
As if on cue, Rory appears. “Heard my name!”
“Perfect,” Benny says. “Okay, Rory, give us some of that sweet sweet information. Have you seen Y/N?”
Rory’s eyebrows furrow. “Well, yeah, but she said it wasn’t really her. She said she was an ancient doppelgänger who just looks like Y/N.”
Benny gestures wildly. “You guys concerned now?!”
“Okay, yeah, maybe,” Ethan replies. “Did she say what she was doing or where she was going?”
Rory shakes his head. “No, she said she was too smart to tell me.”
“Curses,” Benny says. “They’re starting to figure out our tricks. Come on, I need to find my spellbook to track her.”
Ethan, Benny, and Sarah hurry off, leaving Rory behind.
“You’re welcome,” he says, miffed that they disregarded him.
“Ah, nice to see you in the flesh again,” Jesse says, tossing some popcorn in his mouth.
“I see you’re still fond of the theater where your plans were ruined,” Not-you replies, eyeing the room.
“I’m a sentimental guy,” he says. “And with you, my plans can’t be ruined again.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that. My doppelgänger might be a mortal but she has the same power I do, under the surface.”
“Don’t tell me your afraid?”
“Not afraid. Just cautious,” Not-you says. “Arrogance is what got you defeated the first time. I won’t make the same mistake of underestimating them.”
Jesse stands up and walks over to Not-you, grabbing her arm. “Starting to get some flesh back, I see.”
“Swapping places with Y/N has helped immensely. Give it a few more hours and I’ll be back to full strength.”
“And Y/N?”
“Collateral damage.”
Jesse smiles. “Then we don’t need to underestimate them. We can destroy them.”
Meanwhile, Benny, Ethan, and Sarah are tearing apart Benny’s room, trying to find his spellbook.
“Goodness me, what’s going on in here?”
“Grandma!” Benny exclaims, popping out from under his bed. “Have you seen my spellbook?”
“No. Don’t tell me you’ve lost it, Benny, you know how dangerous that is,” she replies.
“I know, I know, but lecture me later, we have to find Y/N.”
“Y/N is missing?”
“Yeah,” Sarah says. “She was switched with a doppelgänger.”
Evelyn purses her lips. “Circe.”
“Who?” Ethan asks.
“Circe,” Evelyn repeats. “She’s an old witch who caused quite the ruckus in White Chapel. Reverend Black tried to have her burnt at the stake but considering that he turned out to be a vampire I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s resurrected her somehow.”
Benny gasps. “With my spellbook!”
“Follow me,” Evelyn says, leading the group of them to her basement where she digs through a box for a leather bound book.
“Ah!” She says. “Here it is.”
She flips it open, going through the pages before stopping on one. “Here she is.”
“Woah,” Ethan says. “She really does look like Y/N.”
“Doppelgängers were created by nature after ancient beings defied their laws by creating immortality. Circe must’ve tried to make herself immortal, causing the doppel curse,” Evelyn explains.
You’re starting to feel horrible. Your body getting heavier and heavier, a weight on your chest growing.
It wasn’t like the usual anxiety or claustrophobia you’ve experienced before. No, this felt like your soul was slowly being sucked from your body.
Is this it? you think. Is this really how I’m going to go out?
You raise your phone, the bars still empty and the battery too low for comfort.
“God,” you mumble.
Jesse pulls the Cubile Animus from his pocket. “This is what we’ll use to capture the souls.”
Circe raises an eyebrow at him. “Is that thing going to be able to hold all the supernatural souls? They’re more powerful than human souls.”
“Well, if you happen to have another soul-holder laying around, you just let me know,” Jesse says, scowling at her.
“I’m just saying, maybe you should’ve done some research before you set this plan into motion.”
“It’s going to work.” Jesse snaps, getting into Circe’s face.
“All right, if you say so,” she replies, lifting a magical hand, glowing gold, and pressing it against the box.
You gasp, feeling a sudden rush of adrenaline and your eyes flicker a gold that makes its way down your face, arms, and into your phone, causing it to call Benny.
“If Circe has taken Y/N’s place you need to find her fast. The longer Circe stays in her place, the more of Y/N’s lifeforce she takes,” Evelyn says. “She could die.”
As if on cue, Benny’s phone rings.
He scrambles to check it, Y/N’s name glowing on the screen. “Oh my god.”
He answers it. “Y/N? Where are you, baby?”
“Benny...” your voice is faint and quiet. “...mirror...”
“Mirror? I don’t know what that means, you’re gonna have to be more specific.”
The urgency in his voice is obvious and you’re trying your best.
“At- at school...the mirror...”
“A mirror at school? The mirror at school?”
“Olivia Frye’s mirror!” Ethan says with a snap of his fingers. “In the theater.”
“Y/N, babe, is that right? You’re in Olivia’s mirror?”
“..yes.”
“Great, let’s go,” Sarah says.
“Be careful!” Evelyn replies as they go.
“Y/N, stay on the phone with me, okay?”
You groan. “Benny, I’m so tired...”
They throw themselves into Grandma’s car, Sarah driving.
"No, no, baby girl, stay awake for me,” Benny pleads, hearing your breathing become labored.
“Benny...” you whisper out one last time before the phone goes dead.
“Y/N? Y/N! Y/N, baby, please- god dang it!” Benny throws his phone down.
“It’s okay, Benny, we’ll find her,” Ethan says. “She’s gonna be fine.”
“I hope so, E, I really hope so.”
"Do it now,” Jesse demands.
Circe’s eyes glow gold and she whispers an incantation.
Meanwhile, Erica and Rory are out looking for a midnight snack.
“Are you sure we should be out here?” Rory asks. “Sarah said there’s a powerful witch out here somewhere. And that she’s working with Jesse.”
“What’s Jesse got against us?” Erica replies. “If anything he should be thanking us for being his only turns that survived. Natural selection in my opinion.”
Suddenly, her body goes rigid and a glowing, white mist flows out of her mouth and shoots off. Her body collapses to the ground.
“Erica?” Rory asks, nervously, leaning down next to her.
Erica’s soul finds its way into the Cubile Animus and Jesse smiles.
Rory’s body follows ensuite of Erica’s, going still and his soul being taken from his body.
And now we’re caught up. You’re dying in unimaginable darkness, weeping. Wishing with all your might that they find you. That you’ll see your friends and Benny again.
Luckily for you, they burst through the door.
Ethan, Benny, and Sarah are to the mirror in no time, Benny’s hand pressing against the glass.
“Y/N! Come take my hand, please!”
“I-I can’t,” you cry, tears rolling down your cheeks as you look at him, his eyes worried, scared even.
“Yes, you can!” He replies. “I won’t let you die! You’re so close, Y/N, just come take my hand.”
It’s hard, and it hurts, but you move.
You crawl, sobbing, towards him.
Benny’s own tears are threatening to spill over as he listens to you crying.
“Please,” he whispers. “Please, I love you.”
You reach up. And take his hand.
Feeling your grip, Benny pulls.
Your body comes tumbling out of the mirror and into Benny, who immediately hold you close, whispering “oh my god” over and over.
You’re shaking, still crying. You’re thin, pale, and weak.
“Y/N,” Sarah says softly. “Do you know where the doppelganger is?”
You close your eyes, focusing. “The theater,” you whisper. “They’re at the theater.”
More souls are being sucked into the box: Kurt Lockner’s, David Stachowski’s, all the vampire nurses.
Evelyn, knowing - or rather feeling -  what’s happening, sits in her rocking chair and mumbles a counter spell that will keep her soul inside her body.
Circe growls. “Let go, Evelyn. I’ll get your soul if it kills you.”
“Not a chance.” Evelyn replies.
Sarah hits the breaks hard, putting the car in park and jumping out of the car, Ethan following closely.
“Y/N, stay here, okay?” Benny instructs.
You nod, closing your eyes and lying down.
“Hey!” Sarah kicks open the door to the theater. “Having a party without me?”
“Sarah!” Jesse says. “Glad you can join us. Just in time for Circe to take your soul.”
“Oh yeah? Over my dead body.”
“That can be arranged,” Circe replies, turning to Sarah with glowing gold eyes.
It strikes her then how nearly exactly she looks to you.
“So your the witch who’s stealing my girlfriend’s soul!” Benny shouts.
Circe smiles. “I’m a much better model, don’t you think?”
“Not a chance, honey.”
“Jesse, I’m busy. Take care of them, won’t you?” Circe says. “Your grandmother can’t hold on forever, Benny.”
“What?” Benny cries, becoming angry. He shouts a spell, hurling it in Circe’s direction, who waves it off easily.
“You’ll have to do better than that.”
“Come on, Sarah,” Jesse says. “We’ve been here before, haven’t we? What makes you think you’ll win this time?”
“This!” Ethan yells, shooting Jesse in the face with holy water.
Jesse screams.
“Literally never go anywhere without this. We’re smarter this time, don’t you know?”
“I don’t think you nerds have the capacity,” Jesse says, wiping the burning liquid off his face with his sleeve.
Sarah attacks him and Ethan gasps, being overcome with a vision. It’s a vision of Benny’s grandma and Jane chanting the same words she used to defeat Jesse the first time.
When he comes back to, he shouts, “Benny! Your grandma’s spell! The first one!”
The pieces clicking in his head, Benny chants those same words and watches as a bolt of lighting appears and hits Circe in the chest. She cries out, dropping the box that Benny scoops up.
“Hey, Jesse,” Benny says.
Jesse stops, Sarah’s neck in his hand, and looks at Benny.
“This look familiar?”
He opens the box, releasing the souls inside.
Jesse screams, dropping Sarah and running off.
“You coward!” Circe yells. “Coward! AH!”
The souls attack Circe, slowly pulling Y/N’s soul out of her body.
Once it’s out, Circe drops to the ground and fades away in a fog.
Breathing heavily, the three left watch as Y/N’s soul shoots off, presumably back to Y/N’s body.
“We really need to destroy this thing,” Benny says, tossing the box in the air and catching it again.
Erica and Rory burst through the doors, fangs bared, ready for a fight.
“Aw, man, did we miss it again?” Rory asks.
“Yeah, sorry, Ror,” Ethan replies.
“Ugh. I’ve been waiting to tear Jesse a new one for like, ever,” Erica says.
“Oh, I’m sure you’ll get your chance,” Sarah says.
“Oh my god, Y/N,” Benny says, shoving the box into Ethan’s hands and running out to the car, the others following.
You’re still sleeping, and breathing, thankfully. But your color isn’t back to normal, neither is your weight.
So, they take you to Evelyn.
“Her body isn’t used to magic,” she explains as Erica and Sarah set you gently onto Benny’s bed. “It’s going to take a while for her to naturally heal. But, if a few powerful magicians were to try to speed things along...”
“We can do that?” Benny asks, hopefully.
Evelyn grabs his shoulders. “We can try.”
They hold hands over your body, shutting their eyes and chanting “Extende in desiderium cordis mei; Sana hoc vulnus cum virtute ignis. Aufer aegritudinem et dolorem; Sanatio est quod offero.”
Your body glows, color coming back to you and your weight returning to its normal size, but you don’t wake up.
“Did it work?” Benny asks. “Why is she still asleep?”
“Even healing magic takes time,” Evelyn explains. “Give her a little bit.”
She pats him lightly and leaves the room, leaving Benny alone with you.
“God, I really thought I was going to lose you,” he whispers, squeezing your hand.
The time stretches on as he waits for you to wake up and he eventually nods off.
Which is when you decide to wake up.
You smile as you see him lying next to you and lean over to kiss his cheek.
He shoots awake immediately, practically tackling you in a hug. “Thank god!”
You laugh. “Thanks for saving me.”
“Always,” he replies. “Always.”

Iirc, Book-Armand repeatedly fucks with Claudia's head and tells her to kill herself and worse during their stay in Paris. Maybe that's what Claudia wrote in her diary pages that Armand tore and hid?
In the show, Claudia goes from hating Armand to being nice to him during the double-date with no context and none of those are in her diary (it's ended on "fuck these vampires") so it's suspect. There is a lot of Claudia and Armand dynamic we haven't seen yet.
Yes and maybe.
If that book-canon event happened in the show as well then she would definitely have written about it as well.
That is, indeed, also something that Armand later on could be ashamed about, yes.

More Mikaelson sort of fluff
Even less sad in this, I hope.
Biting issue within the family, Klaus wasn't always the worst when it came to that.
----
It's only after Rebekah is born that Klaus learns the responsibilities of being an older brother.
Shortly after this he realises that Kol is also his younger brother and not just his constant playmate.
Kol doesn't take Klaus's sudden change to protective bossiness well, like the toddler he is, and starts to react in two ways, throwing things with his powers, which would be punished more if their mother wasn't so happy at the signs of Kol being a prodigy in her craft.
Instead Finn adapted to stopping any true harm befalling Niklaus from Kol's magic and smothered the tiny spark on envy over it.
The second way he showed his anger at Klaus's new behaviour was biting, this may have been dealt with quickly if Kol learned from being bitten back and stopped.
He didn't.
So Finn and Elijah were quickly stuck pulling apart a pair of snapping children. While Finn attempted to tell them off he normally ended up gaining few bites himself before the tears started.
Elijah gets used to ending up with a pair of younger brothers sitting on him yet refusing to acknowledge each other as they cried and grizzled and an older brother fuming in the background nursing either a bruise or bitemark or two.
Kol does eventually outgrow biting but not before biting Rebekah and Henrik at least once, the latter was to teach Henrik not to bite.
somehow Elijah escaped his brother's teeth their whole life. That changes in what came after.
---
In the days after they had returned across the sea, Finn had sent Elijah a look as Kol and Rebekah's latest argument grew more violent.
He was almost relieved that at least this hadn't changed as he stepped in the middle of them.
He knew they were both angry at what they had lost- their parents had taken from them- a future and family of her own from Rebekah and his magic and connection to the world from Kol.
They were all lost and angry but they only had each other.
Elijah managed to talked them down and was watching as Rebekah stormed away with regret at his sister's unhappiness, thinking it was over he was surprised, when Kol had grabbed his arm from behind and pulled it up to bite down.
He hadn't thought to stop himself as he left out a yelp of shock and pulled his arm back to get a glimpse of the deep bit on his forearm before it healed, leaving a ring of blood in the place of bruised teeth marks.
Kol swallowed the blood before he broke out laughing apparently at Elijah's expression.
Elijah watched as he sunk to his knees, with a mix of annoyance and fondness, it had been too long since Kol had laughed.
“I thought you had outgrown this.” Elijah still commented as the laughter dimed.
“Not so funny when’s it you.” Finn voice reminded them he was there and Elijah turned to see him smirking, the look of displeasure he send his older brother just caused Kol to break out in laughter again.
Elijah learns to expects bites from Kol in the future.
---
(sorry for whatever canon said but my head canon is both Finn and Kol was actual trained witches, with Kol being unnaturally strong and gifted, Elijah also had some talent but it was never noticed or trained. Klaus was so desperate for Mikael's attention that he had no interest in it and while Rebekah tried, she quickly grew bored and preferred to follow Klaus and Elijah's apparent lead.)

Devil You Know
Fandom: The Vampire Diaries Pairings: Damon Salvatore/female reader (future) Word Count: 2,107 Tags: Just canon typical violence/blood so far, Episode related 2x14 Crying Wolf Summary: Damon's in love with Elena, would do anything to keep her safe—including forming an alliance with a mysterious newcomer who just might change everything. A/N: I consider this a teaser I guess, as plan to write the rest of season 2's storyline! I hope you like it :)
Keep reading below!
Damon goes to the historical society tea party because he needs to confront Elijah.
It’s absolutely the last thing he wants to do, after blowing off Jenna’s friend Andie, who will almost certainly be in attendance; the last thing he wants to do, knowing that Elena and Stefan are on some romantic getaway to her family’s cabin by the lake. But he needs to protect her, which means finding out more about Elijah and the deal he’s made with her, which means he gets dressed and goes to the party, puts on a smile, charms the pants off everyone like he always does.
It’s not easy, but someone’s gotta do it.
Damon is just walking away from Alaric, heading into the study on Elijah’s heels, when a pretty young woman grabs him by the elbow of his jacket. She fits in at the tea party, in a white sweater, long, tan skirt, and heels, but he can’t remember ever seeing her around town.
“Whatever you’re about to do, don’t,” she says in a low voice. A human wouldn’t have heard it, her lips barely move, but he can and she must know that.
“And who are you?” he asks, cocking a brow. He doesn’t take advice from people he does know, and definitely not from people he doesn’t; all the same, something about her intrigues him, though he can’t quite put his finger on it.
“Someone who’s not about to let you make the biggest mistake of your life — or afterlife, whatever you call it.” She lets go of the fabric of his jacket, then smooths it out where she’s wrinkled it. “Trying to kill an Original is suicide, so don’t.”
She says it with an air of finality, almost authoritative, then turns away from him like she’s going to leave.
He can’t let this girl leave, but he can’t let Elijah go either. He’s torn, feels two warring senses of urgency, looks briefly toward the study and then back to her retreating frame.
“Wait—who are you? How do you know–what you know?” She turns back, hair falling over her shoulder, and shakes her head like she’s frustrated that he’s even bothering to ask.
“I know, and that’s all that matters right now. Look, I have to go; I shouldn't have come as it is.”
Damon grabs her arm to stop her from turning again, to stop her from leaving, but she frees herself with one firm, no nonsense tug and walks out the door without ever looking back.
A mystery for another time. Elijah’s in the study, and Damon’s going to do what he came for in the first place.
-
He gets stabbed in the neck by Elijah because of course he does; he never claimed to be rational or sensible, to think things through or weigh the consequences like his brother. He acts on instinct, with more emotion than most people probably imagine him capable of, and then deals with the aftermath as it comes.
The aftermath of this situation is a very sore throat, and a growing headache, as he mulls over what little they know, over and over and over in his mind.
“Today was a bust,” he punctuates with a sip of bourbon. He says it to himself, to the room at large, but Ric answers anyway.
“Yeah, that Elijah’s one scary dude. I’d think twice before I trust that dagger and some ashes to do the job. You’re gonna need more info.” Damon frowns.
“But I’m out of sources.” Ric stands to pour another drink, grabs Damon’s glass and does the same. When he hands it back, Damon has a flash of memory from earlier in the day—the tea party, the mystery girl who knew more than she should—and he smiles a little to himself, pleased. “Actually, you know what. There might be one person who can help us out.”
“I’ll take anything we can get,” Ric says, drinking down the remainder of his bourbon in one sip. Damon stands and does the same, grabs his jacket from the back of his chair.
As they head for the front door he starts brainstorming, deciding where they are most likely to find her. Strangers always seem to gravitate toward the Grill, so they should probably start there, ask around, find out if anyone who’d been at the event remembered her.
Those plans are cut short by werewolves. Goddamn werewolves.
“You know what the great thing about buckshot is? It scatters through the body. Maximum damage,” the one he knows to be Jules says, the one he hates with every fiber of his being.
They’ve got him chained to a chair—an antique that’s going to be a bitch to restore after this—with some kind of inverted spike collar on him, and he is leaking blood from a hole in his neck for the second time today. It’s a new method of torture for him, and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t a little terrified of the potential outcome.
This is how he knows he loves Elena, really, truly loves her, he thinks. For anyone else, he’d have given up a long, long time ago, out of both boredom and self-preservation. Damon would kill for almost anyone—he kills mainly for himself, anyway—but she’s the only one he’d die for now that Katherine has fucked them all for the last time.
“Where is the moonstone?” Jules yells, pulling him out of his thoughts with a cock of her gun. One of the wolves pulls on the collar, which hurts like hell, but Damon just shrugs, smarmy as shit. Jules rolls her eyes. “Vampires.”
“At least vampires have the decency not to enter someone’s home without permission,” someone calls from the foyer. Damon can see that it’s his mystery guest, still dressed for the party, as she strolls casually down the hallway and into the parlor, toward the werewolves. Jules takes a good look at the girl, brows tight, as if she’s trying to place her, but the other wolves growl—actually growl—at her, nostrils flaring. It’s clear they know who she is… and that they actually fear her. “If I were you, I’d go. Now. Before another one of you gets hurt.”
Whether she’s referring to Mason or someone else he doesn’t know about, it doesn’t make a difference; the male wolves run out of the house in a blur, and Jules must trust her pack enough to know to follow, because she speeds past the girl and out the front door with the rest of them.
Damon is impressed. Very impressed.
A minute later, when the house is quiet and the girl seems satisfied the wolves are gone, she steps toward Damon; her heels click across the wood floor, and in that delicate skirt, that pristine white sweater, she yanks at the chains that have him bound to the wooden chair. They nearly crumble in her hands, breaking apart and freeing him from captivity.
Now he’s kind of terrified again. Terrified, and a little turned on, and really fucking confused.
“Should have let them kill you,” she mutters as she unlocks the collar, her hands slick with his blood but no less precise. She pulls each wooden stake carefully away from his neck, and he sighs his relief when the device is completely off, discarded on the ground. “Do you always have such a knack for getting yourself into dangerous situations, or have I stumbled upon a no good, very bad day?”
“Hey. They broke into my house,” he reminds her, standing, and what’s left of the chains join the collar in a heap on the floor. The girl lets out a long sigh and puts up her bloody hands in a gesture of irritation.
“Because you’re fucking with, quite literally, the most powerful, ancient beings, things you know next to nothing about, even though I told you not to.”
“No offense, but I have no idea who you are, what you are… Those guys obviously did, and I’m getting now that you’re kind of a big deal, but it takes a lot more than a mysterious girl leaving a cryptic message at a town event to get me to change my mind.”
With another sigh, she sticks out one of her hands, and after a pause he gets what she’s after, reaches out to complete the handshake.
“Hi, I’m the new resident vampire slayer. Happy to make your acquaintance.” He tries not to show that his mind is a little blown at this, that the prim and proper, frankly beautiful girl in front of him is a killer of anything.
“Vampire slayer? Is ‘hunter’ not cool enough this year?” She drops his hand, then wipes the blood from hers against the fabric of his black henley; it’s not enough to clean them fully, but now they’re merely stained red and no longer dripping with the evidence of his prior torture.
“Hunters are usually guys with personal vendettas, who spend too much time shopping at the army surplus store,” she says with a completely unsubtle look at Ric, who remains dead on the Persian rug. Either she doesn’t care, or she’s spotted the Gilbert ring, knows what it means. “Slayers are different; we’re born with innate power, similar to what you develop when you transition—though I guess it’s all the same when you’re on the wrong end of a wooden stake.”
She takes a step back as he takes a step toward her—toward Ric, really. She watches as Damon lifts him up and drops him onto the sofa, so he can wake up with a little more dignity, at least. “So, vampire slayer. Are you from around here?” he asks as he turns back. He grabs their glasses from earlier, and a third, and fills them all with bourbon. He offers her the drink, which she accepts, sips.
“I get around,” she says lightly, carefully avoiding his question. She walks around the room, exploring, as he cleans up, rolls up the soiled rug so he can dump it later on. “This is my first time in Mystic Falls, though I know all about its… rich history.” She takes another drink, this one deeper, like she’s tired after such a long day. He knows he is, so he can understand the feeling. “I’m drawn to where I’m needed, and I wasn’t needed here until the moonstone came into play. Now you've got doppelgängers, werewolves… I’m just fortunate you dealt with the vampires in the tomb on your own, or we’d be in a hell of a lot more trouble.”
“Hey, I’ve changed since then; I was an idiot in love,” he explains, then he fully realizes that’s bullshit; he’s still an idiot, and still in love—or, more appropriately, in love again.
He throws her a playful smirk, but she’s not laughing when she comes closer and locks eyes with him. It’s the first time he’s looked at her and seen what must be her darker, more dangerous side.
“Love is not an acceptable excuse for your actions, and if you ever give me reason to, I’ll put you down without hesitation. It’s important that you know that.” Her eyes flick over his, as if ensuring that he’s gotten the message, that he understands her loud and clear. “Even when I help you—if I help you—my loyalties are to the slayers who fought before me, who fight alongside me. No one else. If any of you harm an innocent person with intent, I will kill you.”
Damon contemplates that for a moment, he really does; there’s no shortage of people who want him dead, so adding one more to the list isn’t really as impactful as she may believe. He can’t help thinking, though, that if she’s on their side—if she’s willing to fight with them instead of against them—they might actually have a chance against the werewolves, the Originals. They might actually have a shot at eliminating the threat instead of outrunning it, at protecting Elena once and for all.
It means giving up human blood, which isn’t his favorite thing to do, but he’s done it before, can do it again. Will do it for Elena, if that’s what it takes.
“You have my word, slayer,” he says, peering down seriously into her eyes. For once, he means it. “You help us keep Elena safe, and we’ll all be on our best behavior, or you get to wipe out every creature of the night that lives in Mystic Falls.”
She nods, after a moment, then drains her glass of bourbon with an exaggerated, satisfied smack of her lips.
“Alright then. First things first: who’s Elena?”

i have a confession
i don’t actually like damon salvatore (the vampire diaries)
there. i said it.
it’s true — his character had no development outside of loving a girl (who he is completely incompatible with) and everything interesting about him was ruined by delena or the plot in an attempt to make him ‘redeemable’.
after s3 (and even during s2&3) he was totally out of character. (the whole show, actually. was he ever in character??) he didn’t make any sense, and julie only ever utilised him as the ‘reformed bad guy’, and went about it in the worst possible ways.
“but you’re always writing and posting about damon??” you ask.
and that’s the thing.
MY damon salvatore is one invented in my head.
MY damon salvatore is a slutty little italian who was considered ‘evil’ and ‘wicked’ long before he turned - for reasons that never really made sense to him. every new ‘big bad’ that comes around - damon’s probably slept with them. or their sibling/s. or both.
MY damon salvatore doesn’t want to be considered ‘good’, because he refuses to live up to the expectations of people who want to fix him, change him, turn him into something he’s not, and doesn’t even want to be. he could never quite fit the mould, no matter how hard he tried, and eventually, he created his own.
MY damon salvatore doesn’t consider ‘stefan is so much better than you’ to be the massive insult it’s intended to be. he knows stefan’s better. he made sure of it. really, it’s a compliment to his parenting skills.
MY damon salvatore has been torn down since long before he’d ever begun to rise. he’s not fussed when told he’s a monster, he’s evil, he deserves to rot in hell because he’s not worth the effort — because none of that’s new to him. nobody hates damon salvatore more than he hates himself. he shouldn’t have to broadcast that. — he went through transition only a month after he deserted the army. all of that trauma - the shell-shock, the horrors - was heightened. and yet, he learned control, and tried to make a life for himself and katherine.
he’s a monster for killing people, and feeding, when some of which deserved it? funny, because he’s still considered to be a hero for fighting on the wrong side of a war he never believed in.
naturally, he has to be a self-serving psychopath with no redeeming qualities, because he refuses to bow down and roll over for the lives of humans. why should he? all they’ve ever done is shoot him down. he’s seen the atrocities man is capable of. knew it years before he turned. humans can be just as monstrous - if not worse! - as vampires, but their lives are automatically worth more, because they’re human.
MY damon salvatore loves being a vampire. it gives him a purpose; options he never would have had, strength, speed, power. he can live.
MY damon salvatore does not exist during tvd canon. maybe at times, during flashbacks or whatever, but he is NOT the kind of guy to give up everything just for a girl… again.
Tumblr media
sometimes when i read things and it’s damon/delena bashing i have to sit there for a moment before i remember that MY damon salvatore is even more fictional than YOUR damon salvatore

To The Things I Can’t Control
Tumblr media
AlucardxBlack!Reader
Warnings: Canon typical violence, cursing, swearing, religious trauma, death, unhealthy coping skills, trauma in general, romance, fluff, eventual smut, reader is named Verena for my convenience (you can refer to her an y/n),this is my first time writing on tumblr I apologize for any formatting issues lol. ( very unedited too…)
To The Things I Can’t Control
Pt.1 || Pt.2
“To the things I can’t control, I hope you’re having a good laugh at the circumstance you have placed upon me. I hope you are throughly entertained. These people’s kids are some of the most insufferable people I have ever met. I have finally managed to escaped their harsh words and physical assaults. I want to leave forever when I am near them. “
Verena wrote into the journal splayed on the desk in front of her. The rain pattered loudly against the windows of her manor. A soft knock at the door distracted her from her journal. A head poked through the door with a smile encompassing their features. “Verena dear, we have someone we would like you to meet.”
The smaller girl closed her journal quickly. “Mother! I’m tired of meeting the rest of the council’s kids. They’re mean and annoying.” The girl groaned, dragging her feet as she made her way over to her mother. “Why can’t we just say I’m sick or something? I’m half human so they might actually believe it.”
The older woman, Verena’s mother couldn’t help but laugh at that comment. “As right as you may be, we have a duty to at least keep up appearances plus, I think you will like who I’m introducing you to. He’s very similar to you.” Verena couldn’t help but raise a brow. “How so?” “You’re gonna have to follow me to find out.”
The groan that left Verena’s lips couldn’t help but earn her a pinch on the arm. “Be nice, he’s already nervous as is.” Her mother says, grabbing her by the shoulders and leading her down the grand staircase.
The stairs lead into a rather gothic looking foyer. The chandelier at the center of the room shined dimly as they made their way to the bottom of the staircase. “Pleasure to meet you both finally. My name is Raine Bishop.” The older woman says, curtsing at the couple before her. “Do excuse our lateness. Verena, please introduce yourself.
Verena sent a side glance to her mother before repeating her previous actions. “It’s an honor to meet you all, my name is Verena Bishop.” She curtsied. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a boy hiding behind the legs of his parents. “Hello Verena! I’m Lisa Tepes and this is my husband Dracula and our son Adrian.” She hummed, pulling the shy boy from behind her.
The boy was slightly smaller is stature, his blond and hair and golden eyes shined brilliantly under the chandelier lights. His long hair braided and tied off with a ribbon. “H-Hello.” He ushered out quickly, bowing and backing up closer to his parents. Raine couldn’t help but smile at the shy boy while Verena on the other hand looked at him with a bit of a raised brow. Her eyes glanced at his parents before glancing back at him again. “What does meeting him have to do with me?” She thought, her thought spun around like a whirlpool before finally settling upon a reasonable answer.
“Oh Mother! I finally understand.” She smiled, accidentally pointing at the poor boy. “He’s like me isn’t he? I can’t remember the word. Not vampire but uh..” Raine pushed her finger down. “Verena it’s rude to point. Adrian is a Dhampir just like you. His Mother is Human and his Father is a Vampire.” She crouched down to Verena’s height. “He’s a year older than you so make sure to be respectful.” Adrian peeked from behind his hands when he heard Verena’s deduction.
From this point forward, Adrian and Verena spent the majority of their childhoods extremely close to one another. Verena showed him even her most lucrative of diary entries over the years even the ones about potential love interests she had at the time. The pair were basically attached at the hip.
Verena sat behind Adrian, brushing his hair into a ponytail in his bedroom. Carefully sectioning his hair, she begins the braid it. “You need to take better care of your hair Adrian. Me and your mother cannot do it for you all the time you know. At this rate, you’re going to be balding by 18.” Verena hums.
Adrian laughed heartily. “I won’t be balding any time soon but you’re probably right, I need to learn how to maintain myself. I don’t need the women in my life scolding me about it any longer.” He teased, playing with the lace at the bottom of Verena’s dress. “Keep talking and you’ll be bald way before you’re 18.” She smirked, finishing his braid and stepping back to see her handy work. “Very handsome, you look right out of a painting.” She hummed, placing a finger on her chin.
Adrian couldn’t help the crimson glow crawling its way onto his delicate features. “Shush.” He grumbled, attempting to walk past the girl. “You forget I’m taller than you Adrian. I can beat you up very easily.” The younger girl smirked, sticking her arm out to reveal little to no muscle mass what so ever. “Pfft yeah right. Your arm is so skinny it’s would snap in half like a tree branch if I pinched it.”
Event like these were frequent in nature. The pair would have sleepovers and play date with each other until they got too old (Raine was scared they would start getting romantically involved too early. She was right but it took like 7 years LOL)
It wasn’t until Verena’s 18th birthday that things turned for the worst. A few weeks prior to Lisa Tepes’s unfortunate end, the Bishop family would be raided by church officials. Verena could hear the footsteps of Clergymen echoed deeply through the halls of the extensive manor. Verena could feel the blood within her veins freezing as she stayed hidden, clutching a small dagger.
The screams of her mother were the last thing she heard before making her way into the closet. Her mind was cluttered with a mix of fear, anger, and grief. The walls beginning to feel as though they are closing in. Oxygen becoming more scarce by the second. Bloody tears streamed down her face, staining the silky fabric of her nightgown.
Her parents were executed by the church for being ‘A Devil Worshipper and a Vampire’. To save Verena, both went with the church willingly. The church rallied around the couple in glee, antagonizing them as the clergyman ended their lives with little regard.
After a few short moments, the sound crackling of flames could be heard. The priest rose from his spot and stood in front of his fellow clergymen and followers. He raised his hands in holy victory “Rest assured my brothers and sisters of the holy Church! Those sinful beasts known as the Bishops are now no more! Completely eradicated by the grace of our holy God. It is God, our lord and savior who has prevailed once again. In Jesus name, Amen!” Shouted the pastor, as a flood of Amen’s followed suit.
Verena darted towards the closest window she could, this being her only means of escape from the roaring blaze that became her home. Glass crackles under the weight of her shoes as she runs. Droplets of crimson blood forms droplets which land onto the floor below her. In the whirlwind of emotions, she narrowly escapes with her life.
She runs through the forest as fast as she can, branches wounding her as she brushed past them; tearing and ripping her once luxurious night wear. Ragged breathes escaped her lips as she ran blindly into the forest. The Estate that Verena knew so well was burned to the ground; reduced to nothing more than piles of ash and Debris. It became nothing more than a distant and painful memory.

I groaned as I slowly came back to consciousness, my head throbbing. The last thing I remembered, I'd been talking to Genevieve, a resurrected New Orleans with who'd been dancing on the line between ally and enemy.
She took a great, giant leap into the enemy category when I forced my eyes open to find her smiling at me, looking immensely satisfied with herself. I tried to stand, maybe make a move to rip her head off, but my wrists were chained to the walls on either side of me. I was trapped.
"I'm going to kill you," I spat, not bothering with pleasantries or pretending. Genevieve smiled like she'd expected me to say that.
"I know you think we're the bad guys here," she said, giving me a sympathetic expression that made me want to rip her head off. Literally. "But we're not. You've been dating the bad guy, and you've been so blind you haven't been able to realize it."
I rolled my eyes so far back in my head that I could see the wall behind me. I'd heard this same nonsense a thousand times from a thousand different people, and it never got any less irritating or boring.
"I'm not going to hurt you, Y/N," Genevieve said, walking towards me with a very menacing swagger in her step. "I'm just going to make you see the truth."
Before I could hit back with a retort, she raised her hands to the side of my head, and I went spiraling back through my own memories.
For a witch who'd managed to catch me, one of the oldest vampires in creation, in the home of my boyfriend, one of the other oldest vampires in creation, I'd expected more, honestly. But her plan wasn't particularly creative.
She forced me to relive some of my worst moments in my thousand years with Nik. We'd been together as humans, and he'd turned me not long after Esther turned the rest of them, so there was plenty of material for her to work with. Nik and I had been through hell and back, mostly due to enemies, but sometimes due to each other.
Genevieve made me sit through a few particularly bad moments, then pulled me out of her little trance, staring into my eyes like she expected some kind of connection.
"For a thousand years, he's lied, cheated, and backstabbed," she said, her voice low and grave. "He's left a trail of blood, pain, and suffering in his wake. You haven't been spared from his list of victims, even if you've convinced yourself you have."
I closed my eyes, taking a long breath in through my nose. This was getting tedious.
"We've decided to put an end to his reign of terror. We'd like you to join us. So what do you say?"
I fixed her with my best 'really?' stare, which I'd perfected using on Nik.
"Genevieve, let me explain something to you." My voice was quiet, faux-patient, with an undertone of promised violence the way I'd perfected from hearing Nik do so many times. "For more than one thousand years, Niklaus Mikaelson and I have had each others' backs, through everything. We're partners, best friends, and the loves of each others lives. One thousand years of a relationship does not come without bumps, and problems, and things we have to spend a long time working through. Every single time, we have done so successfully.
"One thousand years as a Mikaelson has also come with hundreds of people just like you, Genevieve. They've tried to get to Nik through me, or they've tried to turn me against him, or a thousand other attempts at causing us problems by breaking us apart. And not one of them, in all that time, has succeeded. And do you know what else, Genevieve?"
She cocked an eyebrow at me and gave a little snort, but I could see the way her shoulders tensed and the flicker of fear in the back of her eyes.
"Every single one of those people who tried to come at me and Nik? They're dead. And we're still standing."
Genevieve snorted, louder this time, shaking her head as she straightened and backed away from me. I stared her down, letting a feral smile slowly drag its way onto my face.
"Fine. If you won't help us, then I have no more use for you. So-"
"Oh dear. I hope that sentence isn't going to end in a threat against my lovely partner over there."
Genevieve whipped around, and I smiled at the sight we both found over her shoulder. Nik had arrived, covered in blood and grinning in the way that made my heart race. Clearly, he'd worked his way through at least some of the witches outside to get here. I grinned back at him.
"Your hold over this place, this world, is coming to an end, Klaus," said Genevieve, standing her ground remarkably well. "The two of you have terrorized this place long enough."
"Now you're bringing my girlfriend into it?" asked Nik, raising one eyebrow, a teasing tone in his voice. "Well, I really can't let that stand, now can I?"
"You're not going to have a choice," Genevieve growled. With that, she flung her arms out, whipping up a witchy storm to throw at Nik just as two more witches came into the room. Nik held his own alright—he was the Original Hybrid after all—but he couldn't stand on his own against three powers like this forever.
He needed help. And I was going to give it to him.
I closed my eyes, getting into the headspace I'd had to reach more times than I'd ever wanted to, but that had gotten Nik and I out of more than a few hard spots. Pure rage and a desire to protect the man I loved washed over me, and I pulled against my restraints with all my strength. I dislocated my thumbs to get them out of the cuffs, stifling a scream, then got to my feet and rushed Genevieve before she could realize I was free.
The next minutes were a blur. They always were, whenever Nik and I were in a fight like this. After landing a few hits and killing both of Genevieve's little helpers, I saw Nik go down. He dropped like a sack of potatoes, and I saw red as I whirled on Genevieve.
A few moments later, Genevieve followed Nik to the ground, although she was a little more dead. I stayed standing, trying to recover from the adrenaline. After I'd had a few moments, I crouched down next to Nik.
"Hey. Nik, wake up," I said, gently shaking his shoulder to try to rouse him. After a moment, thankfully, his eyelids fluttered. A second later, he sat into a seating position, looking ready for a fight. I quickly reached out to calm him, to reassure him that we were fine.
"What happened?" he asked, eyes still a little wild, even as he saw the bodies around us and started calming down.
"You lost it. Well, we lost it. Genevieve kidnapped me to get to you, you lost it on her and her little followers over that. She seriously hurt you, so I lost it and helped you finish them off. Same thing we've been running for a thousand years. We're alright."
Nik nodded, letting out a sigh and sagging a little. Then, he looked at me with a grin.
"You'd think after a thousand years they'd learn, wouldn't you?"
I sighed. "No kidding. Maybe this'll be the one that sticks."
Nik and I shared a smile as I leaned into him, kissing him softly before standing and offering a hand to help him up. No matter where we went or how much time passed, people would probably always try to come after me and Nik. But together, we were completely unstoppable. We'd spent the last thousand years proving it, and we'd spend the next thousand doing the same.
