If Klaus and Elijah were to share a darling, well I’m not sure how well that would work out in practice. 

They share the same goal, to care and to protect you. They just go about it in very different ways. 

Klaus is more obsessive and will keep their darling a lot more secluded. Elijah on the other hand is more forgiving and gives their darling a bit more freedom. 

But because of their common goals they can compromise with each other. (That means awful fighting and a silent treatment for a while.)

Also, as much as they care for their darling, they (especially Klaus) will use them against each other. 

At least, at the start they will be extremely jealous and protective of the darling even from each other. 

Elijah and Klaus wouldn’t out right compete for their darling. I mean it’s most likely just brotherly bickering and jealousy. 

And even with their personal problems with each other, they can overcome it, just because they understand that you are their priority and that taking care of their darling together will keep them safer. 

through all this their darling’s own feelings on the matter don’t really matter, I mean of course they know better being ancient and all.

His siblings and enemies consider him to be noble, but when it comes to you? This man is everything but that.

Jealous, paranoid, overprotective? Yeah, that's Elijah.

The first time he met you had been under less than ideal circumstances but he couldn't help but take immediate note of how beautiful and strong you were. You helped the Salvatores to dagger him but that was quickly forgiven once you helped Elena undagger him a short time after. It was then that he saw that not only were you beautiful but you also had a good heart and were protective of the ones you loved, which was more than he could say for most of his past lovers, so he immediately set his sights on you.

Elijah needs to know where you are and what you're doing constantly or he stops functioning. Like he'll be more irritable than usual, snapping at his siblings, more aggressive with the men he's hired to watch you on the very few occasions when he can't, etc.

Most times he's following you with a small notebook where he writes down new things that he learns about you every day...though after enough time he's convinced that there's nothing about you that he doesn't know.

He saw you smiling at Damon for too long while watching you outside the Mystic Grill (without your knowledge) slashed Damon's car tires and ripped out his steering wheel.

His siblings tease him about his obsession with you and he denies it every time. "This isn't an obsession. I've simply taken a keen interest in her," he'll say.

Elijah takes note of your body language. And that's not just general things like how you struggle to hold eye contact with most people you talk to, or how you lick your lips and clench your jaw when you're frustrated. No, Elijah sees the smallest of habits that you don't even realize that you do on the regular.

He also knows your scent better than he knows himself. Elijah can actually smell your perfume/shampoo/lotion from a mile away and it actually comforts him the moment it hits his nose. When he's close enough or in a room with you, there are times when your scent becomes so overwhelming that he has to stop whatever he's saying or doing, close his eyes, and deeply inhale it so that he can go back to normal, (or as normal as he can pretend to be)

You are deeply involved in all the supernatural lore in Mystic Falls so you know that you're supposed to hate the Mikaelsons...but something about Elijah catches your attention. You liked how calm and composed he was or appeared to be in comparison to his brothers. Though he did things that sometimes hurt your friends, you could see and even appreciate the reasoning behind why he did them. He was also less impulsive than his brothers and sister in the same manner that you were less impulsive than your friends (the Salvatores, mainly).

You were one of the few people in Mystic Falls to engage in a conversation with Elijah that didn't end in a threat. You even once complimented the suit he was wearing that day and Elijah couldn't stop smiling for the rest of that day.

He has and will never lay a hand on you, even when his siblings demand that it would be strategic to harm you to persuade the Salvatores to do what they want. He actually threw Klaus into a bookshelf for even suggesting the idea.

Elijah sneaks into your house and watches you sleep on numerous occasions, and even though he knows it's wrong, he uses his abilities to force dreams he's had of the two of you together into your head while you sleep. He just wants you to see how good you could be together.

Since he started putting those dreams into your head, he's caught you stealing inquisitive glances at him, even with your friends around.

He hired someone to research your internet patterns and reading/music history and bought first editions of your favorite books/records and mailed them to your house that same week. You had no idea who sent them but the package was tied with a thick string that had a pattern that you could have sworn you saw on Elijah's tie the week before.

Since then you've been more hyperaware of your surroundings on your day-to-day. (You actually almost caught Elijah a few times but he managed to speed away before you could catch sight of him)

Elijah is known to be very patient in comparison to his siblings. This applies to you too. He wants you to see that he's the man that you belong with in your own time. But who says he can't continue to persuade you without brash tactics? So Elijah continues to send gifts, jewelry, and your favorite things to your house.

He saw you sitting at the edge of a creek one night and decided that this would be the one time where he would stop hiding and watching and just show his face. You two had a long conversation that night about the stars, (because he knew you were into astrology and astronomy) and he even told you that both your astrological signs were romantically compatible.

It was a lie and you both knew it but he loved the way it made you blush.

That was the night you two first kissed. It was better than the many many times he's imagined it. You were obviously apprehensive at first and he had to take the lead on it but he was more than happy to do so. You gave him your number and told him that you would be interested in going out with him. He already had your number for weeks before but you didn't know that.

It only took a few dates and late-night picnics for him to convince you to become his.

You noticed small differences in his behavior since you became official; he'd get slightly annoyed whenever he'd text or call and you'd say that you were with the Salvatores but if you were with Elena or any other female friends it was no problem, the deadly glares he'd send men in the street when you walked together and one stared at you for even a second (these men would end up missing dead in a dumpsterthat same night without your knowledge), or the way his grip on your hand would get tighter whenever you mentioned Klaus by name.

Once you started dating he insisted that you needed to live with him. He bought a house just so that the two of you could be alone and away from not only his siblings but the drama of Mystic Falls. You didn't agree at first, but Elijah sent two of his men to your house to fake a home invasion and that scared you right into his arms and your new home.

When you moved in with him, Elijah gave you a new phone and told you it was a housewarming present. It actually had a tracker in it and was connected to his own phone so that he could see every call and text you made. He asks you exactly where you're going whenever you leave the house. And of course, he checks his tracker just to double-check.

The longer you dated, the more violent Elijah got when it came to people who tried to harm you or take you away from him. But he never let you see him harm others, and on the rare occasions when you would, he'd compel you to forget it. He couldn't live with himself if he made you afraid of him.

Some of your family members got worried and upset when they went a whole month without seeing you and Elijah compelled them all to move across the country.

Despite having to do all of these outrageous things to keep you to himself, Elijah had never been happier. You were finally his and he would do anything to not only keep you his but to make you fall for him as deep as he had fallen for you.

He considers turning you because all he wants is to spend the rest of his life with you without worrying about human illness or one of his enemies taking you away from him, but he wants you to ask him to do it. He knows that bloodlust isn't something that everyone can handle and only wants you to be happy.

On nights when you'd get into arguments with your friends about your relationship with Elijah and come home sad and angry, he would hold you in his arms and kiss your head while you cried. He hated seeing you cry and would internally seeth with rage at your friends for making you sad. But he'd always find a way to calmly tell you that if it were up to him you'd never see the Salvatores ever again but he understands your loyalty. (he doesn't. he really doesn't like the Salvatores or how close they are to you.)

You shared your lunch, met when she called, watched her cheer leading try outs like she requested, even tied her laces for her once. And yet, today it seemed like it was going backwards.

"Oh go away, would you. You and-" Rebekah started, about to rant about the 'bloody Salvatores' and 'whiney Elena' but when she turned around to give you a practiced scowl she was met with the sight of you actually walking away.

What was more surprising, though, was when you didn't show up for her practice. She no longer felt the need to show Caroline up, and slunk to the back of the group to peer at the stands.

"I thought you wanted to be left alone bex, isn't that what you always tell me? To 'bugger off'?" and she has to hold back a wince at the way her own words are thrown back at her. "You asked to be left alone, and im leaving you alone. Is that all?"

"No that's not all!"

"Then what, hm?"

"Then... then-" she surges forward, kissing you deeply. "That, that's what!" she says angrily. "I'll see you Monday, in your normal seat, thank you very much" she turns to storm away, pointedly ignoring the hammering in her chest and the butterflies in her belly

I can imagine him eyeing you from across the place and kind of already preparing himself to walk up to you

After a few minutes he'd walk over to you and just start chatting with you

With all his charm and wit he'd kind of pull you into staying and make you more interested

It surprised him that you didn't immediately walk away

You were surprised when approached by such a handsome man but also, kind of worried. Because Mystic Falls is no safe city with all the unsolved murders and the chilling rumors of creatures so horrifying that were a danger even in broad daylight. But soon after you talked with him a while you noticed that he wasn't any danger. Kai, that's his name. He talked non-stop but not without making you talk at least half as much. He was funny, charming and he seemed to be kind. Your soft look on your face didn't go unnoticed by Kai,. It was a look that intrigued him as much as he intrigued you. He loved to make you laugh and he loved listening to your voice. A much better voice than that of Damon or Bonnie. The conversation between you went so smooth that you were talking at least 1-2 hours without any awkward silences. Neither of you even dared to look at their phone in fear of killing the vibe. But once you caught a small look at your watch you gasped slightly and Kai immediately stopped talking mid sentence and looked at you worried. "What? What is it?" He followed your eyes curiously and looked at your watch. He reacted with much less shock. After all, he has no where to go. "Ah, nothing really it's just that I need to head home" you said a little quiet and looked outside and saw how dark it has gotten "I'm really sorry but I need to go now" You said and started packing your stuff. He watched you quietly, not sure what to do now.

Kai was a bit disappointed but immediately started panicking when he saw how quick you were on leaving

He went after you and decided to walk you home

He even got your number when dropping you off

He didn't leave that bad of an impression, so when he asked to meet up again after a few days you were excited to meet him again

With time you'd both meet up more and more and you'd form quite a good bond

He'd call you often when something reminded him of you or text you about literally anything that happened in his day

Of course he wanted to hear about your day too, but he had lots of stuff to talk about

You'd hang out whenever you both had time and honestly, it formed into a more friendship type of thing

He didn't mind because he was thrilled to have someone to talk to

He lowkey did want something more though

He unobtrusively checked whether you were a supernatural being or not and when he figured out you weren't he started wondering wether he was bringing you in danger

Especially when you told him that you didn't talk to the Salvatore Brothers and the people they were friends with

At least it eased his mind that they wouldn't try to talk you out of being friends with him

He did start worrying a lot though again and would get you to let him sleepovers since "His dad was strict and he never had one as a child so he wants to catch up to that"

He doesn't talk about his past a lot

But he did mention something about an abusive household and fake friends that are trying to ruin his life

Anyways, he started sleeping over often and you'd often wake up to him making breakfast

You'd spent all day and when he felt like you were working too much he'd start play fights and taking the things you need and hold them above his head so you wouldn't get them

(He secretly really liked having you touch him and be close to him like that, even if it was only platonic)

He craved that touch, that attention

And he'd kind of always hang out with you

Stop assaulting my doorbell!" and the ringing stopped almost immediately, making you wonder if the neighbors kid were playing a trick on you. You rubbed your eyes and opened the door and sighed a little when you saw Kai standing there. He was standing a little more slouched than usual and he seemed tired as well, but not the normal tired, the exhausted and ill tired. "You-" You wanted to say something but he gripped your arms and said "ListenIhadtotellyouthissincethebeginningbutIdidn'tandwhatIreallywantedtosayisthatI'mdeeplyinlovewithyou".

... "I'm deeply in love with you" ... did he really say that?

"What?" you said. Kai looked at you scared. Did she catch what I said? I can't say it again. He let go of you and swallowed thickly. Did I do the right thing? Oh god she must hate me now. Your tired and confused look started looking like a look of disgust and deep hatred to him. He took a few steps back, suddenly feeling like 7 y/o Malachai again, watching his father look at him like the monster he is. He engraved your face in his brain, so that he could at least remember his first crush when he started over somewhere else.

Suddenly you were wide awake, you noticed him straighten up and his panicked face. He looked so pale it almost made you think he might be sick. But you caught on to his posture. He's about to run away. He wants to run away! He took his first step into the other direction wanting to go into a full sprint but you reached out for his arm and pulling him back hard. Kissing him softly and surprising him greatly.

This couldn’t be real! This isn’t real, it’s all just a really bad realistic dream!  

You had walked to the house after a day of school. Your day had actually been pretty good, and your last class had been canceled. You had been excited to get home, to relax, but your plan didn’t go as well as you had thought.  

You had walked in to see blood, so much blood.  

And the bodies, all the bodies on the floor in pools of blood.  

And Kol..., someone that you had trusted for so long. Kol who had another dead corpse on his shoulder.  

And Rebekah sitting in an old armchair without a care in the world. Like this was normal.  

You were close to throwing up and you covered your mouth with your hand, scared of making a sound and having the siblings hear your presence.  

You could barely hear their bickering. It felt like their voices came from far away. The blood, the bodies, all of it was too overwhelming.  

You pressed your back against the wall, frozen in your place. You couldn’t stop yourself from throwing up all the day’s food to the floor.  

No sounds could reach you, no you must have been heard.  

“Oh, angel, what are you doing here? I thought you had another class! Are you okay? Are you feeling sick? Have you eaten anything spoiled or something?”  

Rebekah’s questions might have been comforting if not for the fact that there was a pile of bodies in the other room.  

Tears pricked in your eyes, and you pulled as far away from Rebekah’s touch as possible. It was too much...

The rest of the afternoon went in a haze. You yelled and screamed and fought, terrified of the siblings.  

But at the end you lost the fight, tired while Kol held you in his arms you fell asleep exhausted.

Waking up back in your bed was like heaven came true from a nightmarish day. It all had been just a dream... 

You took a deep breath only to be brought back to reality by the fact that your eyes were itchy and your throat dry. The moment of happiness was crushed in a second.  

You jumped off of your bed and ran to the door. It was locked from the outside... 

You wanted to scream, to curse the whole family and their stupid corpse pile.  

But before you could start any of it the door unlocked, and Elijah came in.  

“Elijah, what the hell is going on?” You asked, backing all the way to the bed.  

“My siblings aren’t very well versed in hiding their nature, I must apologize for what you saw.” 

The warm Elijah was nowhere in sight, the Elijah who had practically worked as a father figure for you.  

“Elijah please, I don’t understand what’s going on,” Your words sounded more like a plea, but you couldn’t help it.  

Elijah walked closer to me giving my forehead a gentle kiss.  

“Do not worry, in a few days the vervain is out of your system, and everything will go back to normal...”

Hearts have been ripped from chests and the brief uptake in “animal attacks” was no coincidence

However, when he realized he was scaring you away, he switched to a different tactic

He became very physical, having to touch some part of you at any given moment. Your hand, your thigh, your hips

He loves your body and he wants you and everyone else to know that it’s his. That you are his

You have so many hickeys people are starting to think you’re a leper

The amount of foundation you have gone through to cover them up is insane

There are hickeys in places you didn’t even know you could get hickeys in

You didn’t mind though, it made you feel beautiful in a way. Plus, the sex that came with it was AMAZING

There were times where you couldn’t walk the next day that’s how good it was

You are well-loved by Damon. He worships the ground you walk on

it's probably because i'm listening to hozier rn before i'm off to bed but i am still thinking about the connection that rafael and flori would have because of 3x01 in my headcanon because yes this is all pure conjecture. raf is the wielder of excalibur in the tvdu and defeated the green knight, yes? but here's the thing: the green knight also had a wife named florie (also spelled floree, according to wikipedia because i can't be assed to do actual research rn) and i do hc that flori was there in 3x01. and that she was the one who helped take off the armor/slowing him down by saying his name (idk if that actually happened but i vaguely recall that the test was also to figure out his name and flori knows her myths and lore and loves research so ofc she'd figure this out) like one would say the name of one's lover(s) (and yes i did steal this from that one potc movie with calypso sssshhhh). i can't help but think that the time slowing spell that the lady of the lake placed on him not only staved off years but made him delirious, he probably heard someone say flori's name and thought that she was his wife. raf stabbing him didn't kill him immediately in my hc. it was more of a slow thing. and flori was there when the green knight (who is not a scaly monster but just a boy) died from his wounds, holding his hand. she thinks about him very occasionally. and i feel like maybe raf would too because, he literally ran someone through with a sword. someone who is (in my headcanon) his age, flori's age. like, that does something to a person.

Over a year ago now I read a rebekah x reader fic when she called the reader 'petal'. And I still can't stop think about it. If I find the fic again I'll link it <3

"Hello, petal" she says when you answer the phone. Unbeknownst to you, she's outside your house and waiting to take you on a late night surprise date.

There's a pause before you reply, and although she can't hear you over the phone she can hear you with his enhanced hearing, squealing and shuffling.

"Hi, Bekah. Everything okay?"

She can hear your voice waiver as you try to act normal, but a quick glance through the window into the dimly lit living room shows your you frantically waiving your hand to yourself and grinning like a fool.

"It'd be better if I was with you, petal, I miss you" she says, sickeningly sweet just to gage your reaction, and she can actually see your feet swinging and watches as you bury your face in a pillow. It's insanely difficult to fight the urge to laugh at how endearing you are. She loves you, truly, and you clearly reciprocate.

"I miss you too, maybe we could do something together tomorrow..?" you suggest. But that gets shut down when she speaks.

"Actually, I was thinking tonight. Get your coat on, petal, I'm outside."

It takes no more than fifteen seconds for you to rush out with a big grin, shoes half on and coat lopsided - a dopey grin on your face.
