One of my favorite character traits that Junpei has is how as much as he's protective and caring to his favorite people and impulsively jumps into danger to help others if he has an opportunity to without wanting anything in return and highly values the promises he makes he just seems to also always be more curious than he is sensible or empathetic, he gets so caught up on the horrors he sees but he has such a hard time looking away, he's right to analyze and be intrigued by the ninth man's remains but he stands around staring at it until he pukes, in the showers you can interact with the wall behind which lies "Snake's" corpse and he will pick up more details about it each time you click on it until he has to mentally rip himself away because it's not that he can't keep looking at it it's that he better look away and focus on getting out, and the way he talks to Clover about the body with every minutiae she wouldn't want to hear is like his brain connects faster to his mouth than it can connect to his sense of morality sometimes which I guess turned out to be a good thing in this one case or just good common sense in general like there's other minor things he blurts out at times, he's stated to not have tact be his strongest suit, he's insensitive on accident trying to fumble through interactions even if he's entirely confident on what he's saying he's soo sharp when he has a goal in mind but he's soo dense if he's trying to just exist my man is so traumatized and his brain always seems to default to taking the most of any given situation in as possible to desensitize himself instead of any other response and sometimes it pushes his mind to be so single mindedly entranced on not ending up that way too that he'll describe a mangled body in excruciating detail to a grieving relative even if that's his friend and even if he feels guilty about it immediately as soon as he catches up with what just left his mouth instead of staying in his thoughts

#I did it I made a post about Junpei without talking about the Kurashikis!!#I am... still doing that here in the tags because that's how this train of thought started but... akdhsk #like I just started thinking how even in the everything is fine and junepei still has the capacity to be a healthy couple AU in my head #he would still have moments™ like this #how he would make invasive little questions about uncomfortable things to reminisce about #not realize he's overstepping right away not deal in the best way with Akane's meltdowns if she's doing bad enough to have them #kind of like in door 3 as in still being touchy and stuff but nothing bad on purpose #nothing like pushing her around like I still can't believe he canonically does in zero tiem dilemma #but yeah basically that's it that's the post I like Junpei a lot despite not being as present in my every waking thought as other character #and I love this about him love that he isn't just completely heroic that he has to struggle a bit #he's a protagonist that feels so generic for the first few minutes but he's anything but the more you play #I love how No One in ze is a good flawless person the way stories usually portray #they have quirks and hang ups that they are capable of doubling down on or turning for the worse under circumstances that push them to #again not. really including zerotiemdillema on that one but you get what I mean #zero escape #zero escape spoilers #999 spoilers #junpei 999 #junpei tenmyouji #every character in this series who ultimately wants to do good has to struggle so much with the horrors around them and in themselves for i #and then there still aren't right simple answers and they still try for the slim possibility that things can be okay this time and I love i #escape room convention but it's a time loop

im so tired of analog horror thats like "heres some instructional tapes ^_^ actually its gonna glitch out and show bloody images or secret things people should never see ooo" like. i wish more people would just commit to JUST the old tapes or smth of the like, and build up a more eerie atmosphere through normal storytelling,

petscop wasnt rlly analog horror specifically, but it didnt once have a jump cut to spooky imagery to go back to the base gameplay and be like "oh haha wasnt that weird and scary? ^_^" and instead just. Built up its atmosphere without jumpscares. even so it still felt like there MIGHT be a jumpscare at any second. idk

analog horror makers could do better

#the wolfs howl #watching a vid on some jurassic park analog horror series and it jumped from like. instructions to bloody trex murder glitched image #and it just? doesnt hit #the walten files also does it well because like. it plays with volume and instead of glitching 2 weird images its more of a jump shift #idk!! i wanna look into more analog horror serieses on my own but theres always so much lore or shit 2 consider like i dont feel like-#-decoding all that man. or going out of my way 2 find it idk!#idk.#also i think mandela catalogue or whatever is boring and overhyped #ok bye bye

merlin bbc merlin kills people in the same way that people die all willy nilly in any medieval or cowboy western media like idk where the idea came from that he’s ruthless and willing to kill at the drop of a hat when the series continually shows him just wanting to use his magic to make flowers and shit. plus a large majority of the characters he does kill in the show are like in the midst of trying to kill him and his friends like it’s a bit of a kill or be killed situation

#also #his faults come from him being all too human. not like an eldritch horror terror or anything #he has somewhat lost his way through the series putting arthur above his freedom which does have questionable moral implications #which makes him very interesting #but he never really set out to kill anyone. he wouldve just killed mordred had that been the case #or left morgana to die after he pushed her down the stairs #nameless medieval randos that hes fighting really don’t count okay i’m sorry #the dark evil broodingification of characters is my enemy #so is woobification like we can’t overcorrect here #he’s not a smol bean defebseless can’t do anything for himself softboy either #people can interpret characters however that want. but i will be looking AWAY

I Have really been enjoying trigun stampede on It’s own merits but it is getting hard for me to keep from comparing it to the manga… seeing great elements from the manga I love incorporated but in a really rushed and Surface Level way is kinda a bummer

#kite.txt #rly feels like they’ve speedrun vash and wolfwoods relationship in a way that makes it feel so… unearned #they still feel like strangers rn in stampede. whereas the livio and backstory stuff is supposed to be like the climax of their friendship #and of course Meryl is just absolutely . um. an absolute shadow of the character she once was #nd 7 eps in they have done nothing with Roberto that made him worth replacing Milly . the Story (and esp mery) has only suffered #from millys absence. also rly didnt need to axe one of the two female Leads in favor of another man (who does nothing)#the animation and General look is amazing and there are def some things I think were rly smart #but overall it feels like a super watered down amalgamation of manga ideas which isnt. awful bc it’s still fun but #as a trimax Fan it hurts to see a little #also the removing off all the unique elements like the lightbulbs and Angelic body horror #in favor of Stock Standard sci-fi Fluid Tube and typical ‘Alien’ looking plante #is not a decision I can defend at all it just strips the series of some of its most iconic and unique visual elements #that one just kinda sucks

hi sorry im like. so so mad about media so im putting this silly rant abt the witcher under the cut <3 spoilers for ummm the books or smth but i dont think my mutuals are into this so 👍

So i just hit Blood of Elves (the 3rd book) and met Triss. so not only did she literally SA/take advantage of geralt (as is the fucking pattern in these books w women towards him and the author and the plot treating any time geralt gets in this position as haha funny so many hot women want him :/) but she is um. absolutely fucking horrible. it is so confusing to me how so many fans love her (because even if you've only played the 3rd game, she LITERALLY point blank jokes with him about how people will no longer take advantage of him since he no longer has memory issues, and when he asks who was taking advantage of him, she was just like me :3. like its never elaborated on its just a fucking joke because we <3 feminism in this series!!) but if you've read the books it just becomes more clear how shes treating him. its a really disgusting pattern of behavior where most of his lovers either treat him like a freak and a mutant (which is sure soooo funny when hes treated like that by normal citizens) or just like a sexual object for them to use, with no regards to his consent. and by god triss has embodied both of those so so badly, where shes just nonstop either lusting after him (when he shows literally NO interest in her at this point lmao) or just treating him like shit. shes constantly guilt tripping him about ciri which is so fucking frustrating bc all the stuff shes bringing up under the guise of haha epic feminism moment is handled SO badly. she basically forces femininity on ciri who is like. barely 12 or 13 by this point (if my math is right) and who literally asks if triss will turn her into a boy and who is more than happy with dressing in male clothes. but triss finds this an absolute travesty that ciri literally has a diy haircut (or one of the men did it for her bc its mega crooked) and takes it into her own hands to turn her into a super pretty polished girl like. adjacent to beauty pageants but fantasy medieval. it is um. incredibly frustrating to see all of this and how triss consistently tells geralt his parenting sucks and that ciri shouldnt be with him (despite the fact ciri only feels safe around him and he does a rly good job parenting in his own way. like its not traditional bc he IS a cringefail adoptive single dad but its also like it doesnt need to be and he cares about her safety so much but wtv) and that he just overall sucks as a person. but we r supposed to root for the two of them to get together as in most of the games, she's the primary/most fleshed out romance option. and its like i do NOT expect ppl just playing the games or watching the netflix series to read the books but its also like she is genuinely really bad to him a lot, just talking down to him and it is actually um. very interesting bc geralt as a character is very emotionless a lot of the time (some of this is due to him being a witcher but some of it is just his personality or the trauma hes endured) but the increase of him just being upset or silent and resigned has increased tenfold in just the first 100 pages of this book. its so so frustrating to see esp after seeing how bad yennefer was treated, i really hoped triss would be better. but in every single way she's been worse.

officially got my coworker into Junji Ito and i’m very excited

#shhh sharkie #i haven’t read a whole lot of his stuff esp the horror tbf #honestly have read more of his cat comics #but im Living for the new netflix series!#and i recced it to my friend/coworker cause i know that would be right up his alley #but he had never read any Junji Ito so I sent him a link to the #The Enigma of Amigara Fault and told him to at least read through that before starting the show #cause he needed at least one intro into the type of horror Junji Ito does #where it’s like. it’s just a thing that is happening. that people are responding to. is there an ending to explain? nope. it just happens.#anyway slowly digging my way through the series cause there’s only so much of it i can handle in one sitting #but i’m enjoying it and it’s making me want to look up some of the original comics too

i like how as time goes on frost and citrine are gradually becoming more normal (ish, they’re still weirdos ofc) while violet stays weird because she’s just like that.

#i dare say since her conception (her origin story -as in how i first made violet)#violet is just like that LOL #she’s my weird silly creature girl and thats why i love her #all of them are silly in their own unique way <3 #i think violet is the most normal personality wise except for how she gets really focused on specific stuff and her undying curiousity #she knows a lot of things that you wouldn’t expect #like she considers researching diseases like degenerative brain disorders fun in the “watching a true crime series” way #although it does give her a lot of existential horror because she’s terrified of losing her mind/ability to think #just a deep seated fear that i have as well #but also physically she’s the weirdest of the three even considering that frost is this walking dead ice man (kinda)#his body temperature is literally 40 degrees F. but at least he has an explanation/reason for that #violet was just born that way #as in she didnt go through any incident or stuff to get her powers or physical features #its not super obvious (besides the white star pupils) but she does have those naturally purple oddly sharp nails #and pointy kinda long ears that are emotive. plus razor sharp teeth and purple markings on her arms and legs #her brother looks like a normal person too which is the most puzzling part #anyways rambled a bit lol #my ocs are like this bc IM weird that’s what makes them my ocs yknow?
