I started playing The Witcher: Enhanced Edition yesterday, I haven’t gotten very far yet but I have to share this clip of Eskel (in the back)
WHY IS HE SO SASSY??? WHAT FOR??? I just started laughing when I saw it. But it got me thinking about how Eskel definitely knows how to press his brothers’ buttons, and when they were younger it definitely led to a lot of quarrels which Vesemir had to break up…
Normally I hate games that basically just have you running around doing fetch quests, but for some reason it's really charming and fun when you get to do it as Geralt. (it also helps to have a mod that gives you permanent 100% stamina and vitality....)
All of the cheesy dialog, the random swearing, the NPCs yelling things like "Your mother sucks dwarf cock!" and little old ladies who get freaked out and yell at you for no good reason make it all worth while. Geralt's personality is theeee best.
The story is actually interesting too, so i'm not annoyed and lost, clicking like a rat on the treat bar. I'm somewhat following what is going on, for once.
Though I wish they would pick one and stick with it re: Salamanders or Salamandra. And some of the quest flags are not working right, with NPCs still going on about stuff that's already happened. (for example Dandelion keeps asking about his lute even though I already gave it to him and he did the concert) And the camera is atrocious, leaving me stuck in corners so I have to use the keyboard to get out of collision area of an NPC because clicking to move just initiates dialog. Over. And over. And over. -_-
But over all it's been surprisingly fun.
There's a remake in the works, which is supposed to be out after the next new Witcher game is out. They're re-doing the whole game from the ground up, not just updating the graphics, and likely making it open world (so no more invisible walls in the swamp making it impossible to navigate etc) so I hope they change the combat to something more like TW3, and add controller support.
I made my modlist for BG3. It's mostly mods for visual character changes and adding different armor and clothing. I hope this information will be useful to someone. Please don't forget to read the descriptions to the modifications and download additional required mods ⬇️

i have been enjoying ur art today and especially ur witcher 3 doodle comics a lot!! i wanted to ask if you played the first witcher game and if you have what ur thoughts are? im playing it rn and the enhanced edition has a lot of skyrim era vibes as i struggle with the SWAMP i hate the swamp the swamp sucks and i cant even fix my mistakes or be not a freak
Thank you so much! No, I’ve never replayed Witcher 1 :) well I tried like 17389393 years ago, but I didn’t like it. Maybe I should give it a try again, but I’m busy now :)
as much as I would enjoy a beefy dlc/expansion for bg3 (hunting demons with K&W in avernus??) I also like knowing the game is Done and I don’t ever have to spend money on it a second time after buying it way back in 2020. and with eg da4/dav ea has set a really bad precedent because like, I know that shit won’t be done when it gets released, so other than I guess fomo re: being part of the Zeitgeist when it releases there’s not a compelling reason to pay full price at launch when I can get More Game 12-18 months from now when they put out some GOTY/complete/enhanced/whatever edition that will not cost $55-70.
if I knew it was going to be a Witcher 3 situation where both major expansions are definitively post-main-game content, that might be one thing, but da series is kind of infamous for having stupid dlc that adds mid game missions and entire fucking companions. and I am not playing da4/dav twice any time this decade, I am just not a person who replays long games. I have still never finished inquisition despite at least 3 major attempts because it’s long and boring and bad and the companions all suck except my bestie Cassandra and my worstie Solas. anyway maybe the vegan egg will be on my face in a couple months when I’m bored as shit and buy veilguard but. probably not.

Ever since I stumbled across Orion's Reign I was wondering which metal bands or artists have made songs about The Witcher. By which I mean game and books, so you will not find Dan Vasc's (really good!) version of "Toss a coin" on this list. There are, however, some bands or artists that made metal versions of soundtrack pieces, and some of those are listed here, too. A good source to bands with Witcher themes is this reddit post, btw! Without further ado, here it goes: Metal Witcher songs! (And if you have additions, reblog this post with them, please!)
youtube
BG's "Blood of the Elves" is the latest I know of dealing with Witcher themes. It is, of course, about Ciri. Also Blind Guardian are - I'm sorry I'm saying this so often - one of my top fav bands, so they are the first on this list :)
youtube
Yes, "Elder Blood" by Orion's Reign is dealing with the same topic. Dan Vasc is the singer here ;) I simply love his voice, and the song is epic!
youtube
Vader must have been one of the first, if not THE first, metal bands to cover a Witcher theme. Rightfully so, they are polish... "Sword of the Witcher" is about the first game.
What else can you expect from a band named "Kaer Morhen" than epic songs? This is, according to the "Encyclopedia Metallum", an instrumental duo, so this is basically symphonic metal (or, as they call the genre, "Epic Symphonic Metal", ok). This song covers the game theme for Kaer Morhen and enhances it in an awesome way!
youtube
Skar has a couple of Witcher metal covers. This is "The Wolven Storm". Check out this guy, he has awesome songs!
youtube
Miracle of Sound is another really, really cool project with many songs inspired by video games. There are a couple of Witcher songs, this one's the "Wake The White Wolf - Metal Version" (it takes a bit to get "metal" but it's really neat!).
youtube
"Wild Hunt" by German band Oversense is a sadly widely unknown song with a very nice melody and lyrics about Geralt. Their song "White Wolf" is also really nice!
youtube
Can you imagine me finding out there's this band "Hekseblad" with a couple of Witcher songs, including "The White Flame?" Yeah, sadly it's Trash metal, which I don't really like... but thanks folks, now I know there is an Emhyr song. Wow.
youtube
We can NOT, of course, miss out Percival Schuttenbach, which is also known as just Percival, but does a bit of different music with both projects. Percival Schuttenbach, however, is considered "Folk Metal".
youtube
Midgard is a Ukrainian metal band, this is "The Witcher". Whenever you hear them sing two similar words in a row, it's "Белый волк", meaning "White Wolf".
I really like Elvenking (check out "Black Roses For The Wicked One!") and I was thrilled to find they have a song about the Wild Hunt!
If you're hooked now, but not that much into metal - no prob, there's a lot of witcher inspired folk music out there. Check your favorite streaming service for Myrkur's cover of "Lullaby of Woe", and definitely look for Gingertail's epic covers, especially "The Wolven Storm". There are also a LOT of "Toss a Coin" covers, if that is your thing, I'd suggest to start with Dan Vasc but also look into the really good guitar version by Luca Stricagnoli.
Here's my list with more Witcher songs, non-metal!
SUMMARY: It has been said, by himself and many others, that Kawi has some of the worst luck in the whole Continent – and beyond.
He’s awkward, clumsy, and generally so covered in scars that even his enhanced healing struggles to keep up. Sometimes, he thinks it’s a miracle he’s managed to last this long.
Other times, he thinks destiny is playing a cruel trick.
RECOMMENDATION: This fic is over 80k of such well-written character and worldbuilding that you'd think this was the canon. Kay's so seamlessly written Kawi, Pisaeng, and Pear into this universe that it feels like they're meant to be there. (Also, there's a horse named Cake.) Like, listen, even if you haven't seen the Witcher, you'll still probably love this fic. I barely know anything about the Witcher and I was hooked the entire time.
Kay's posting chapters as she edits this massive behemoth, so please please please go read and leave comments. This isn't a WIP situation. It's done, and it won't be abandoned. But I know from experience that comments on the chapters as they're posted is really appreciated by writers. <3
