Relativity Falls!
Design Concepts (and my unnecessary thoughts):
Excuse the the colors, ig my apps are fighting.
Tumblr media
I see Mabel finding success no matter what happens to her, but I really like the thought of her running an insane arts and crafts business in GF. Alternatively, if she fell in the portal, she'd come out acting confident as always, but she probably wouldn't realize how much the constant change and lack of family/stability wore her out until she settled back in. In either case, she's a bit cracked.
Tumblr media
Dipper is investigative, but cracks easiest under stress and is not as inherently adventurous as Mabel or Ford- so the portal wouldn't treat him well. If he's not the one in the portal, he'd be into stargazing and real magic to share with people, while also warding tourists away from the dangerous stuff. In general, he'd be an unhappy adult if left to his own devices, lol.
Between Dipper and Mabel, I like Dipper being in the portal more. He's a great protagonist, but as a supporting cast member, he needs to be more insane to match the draw that is 'Mabel taking care of children,' ha. I also love the idea of there being no portal / some other looming threat for these two to struggle with (at least because Hirsche has made it clear that Dipper and Mabel are equally smart, and to me it seems like the portal would reopen way quicker with them), but I didn't plan on posting these and I don't know how my followers feel about me posting lore.
Stanford and Stanley:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pretty much how they are in canon, but now they're in a setting where they can get over themselves, ha. They aren't quite as mature as Dipper and Mabel were at their age, but after coming to GF, they finally found other people to look out for them. Dipper could be a more emotionally available and level-headed role model (I think having people to take care of is calming for him in turn), and they'd both look up to Mabel as the peak of somebody who knows how to socialize.
Fiddleford:
Tumblr media
He's a sweet, southern, farm-raised mechanical engineer just like in canon.
Idk why Fiddleford is in GF (visiting an unnamed grandparent?), but I really like his relationship with Ford in the journal. Following that thought, in this AU, he starts out more of Ford's friend than Stan's, and it's kind of a big deal. Unlike Dipper's arc on learning to be a kid, Stan and Ford clearly struggled a lot with interpersonal relationships / finding security outside of eachother, and that's what I think this AU could be about (it's great they realized they need each other in canon, but the part where they had no one else to turn to is also kinda crazy if you ask me).
Ford gets to meet another smart kid in a weird town, which helps him feel more normal. He has a better idea of what friendship is because of it, but also, since I can't imagine Dipper wanting an apprentice so young/vulnerable/impressionable or Mabel asking only one of the twins to stay- he'd have to come to terms with the fact that he can't live in his dream world forever. (Or maybe the apprenticeship comes from somewhere else, just because the conflict around going back to Glass Shard Beach at all, or sending Stan alone could be pretty good.)
On the flipside, I think Stan's initial jealousy of Ford and Fiddleford's friendship would force him to try finding his own friends / hobbies. I like the idea that he fails at first- and a lot- but Mabel notices his mounting frustration (which he is very keen on hiding), and her consistent and unorthodox support makes him realize he wasn't alone to begin with. He can be more open around her, which makes it easier to open up to others, and then he can make friends without having to pull any tricks. He probably starts with some animals, and then at least gets closer to Fiddleford anyways (I feel like they're both more practical than Ford and value human company more, so they'd bond easier once Stan gets over his personal hurdle).
Anyways- because that was way too much- Mabel's exes are a constant source of antagonists and Dipper is stressed about setting a good example.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I was more of a Monster Falls fan back in the day, but I can't draw animals, lol)

I think Dipper stopped trusting Stan after Scary-oke.
Dipper, not once, thought about the possibility that Stan was lying about whether he knew about the weird shit going on. Despite seeing all the flaws in Stan's lie (literally surrounded by paranormal, dinosaurs, the gold teeth, etc), even pointing them out to him. But he never stops to think, "what if Stan, infamous conman who lies to people for a living, is lying?" When he challenges Stan about the paranormal, he's not accusing him of lying, but trying to convince him that it's real.
Dipper didn't believe Stan would lie to him. Not about something so important to him. Not about something they could have bonded over.
However, in Scary-oke, Stan proves that he is more than capable of lying to them about important things.
So when Not What He Seems happens, once Dipper sees the fake IDs and the newspaper, it's over. Stan is a liar. No need to get Stan's side of the story. No need to question anything. Stan is a bad person.
Yes, not fully trusting Stan after seeing the evidence would be a smart move. The safest course of action would look at the situation objectively and get as much info as possible. This is what I believe Dipper probably would have done if Stan was honest from the beginning.
Dipper being doubtful of Stan is not the problem. It's that he immediately was against Stan and refused to even listen to him. It wasn't a question of whether Stan was lying the whole time and would try to destroy the world.
To Dipper, that was a fact.

" I havent been in this dimension for thirty years, its okay to teach fillies attack spells right?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a little comic i made inspired by a tag said by @quiverymango about dipper and stan bonding over their lack of magic. i loved the idea so much i just had to make something for it, have a few more headcanons below :]
in my mlp universe earth ponies are naturally more bulky and tend to be the strongest ponies with pegasi being the weakest due to hollow bones, so dipper is naturally stronger
this is why dipper when he doesnt have the journals he immediately resorts to physical solutions
mabel is also relatively strong despite being a unicorn, not as strong as dipper is/will be though
stan while not naturally stronger built up his strength pretty quickly after losing his horn because he couldnt rely on magic anymore
stan is the strongest of the pines family, technically even stronger than ford. the only reason he wouldnt be able to beat ford in a fight is because ford is still a powerful unicorn and is still reliant on his magic
stan is tough on dipper because he knows how dangerous it can be to not be physically tough and wants dipper to always be prepared for a scrap even if hes not with mabel
mabel is the first unicorn ford meets after coming back through the portal
hes so excited to teach her new spells and help her with magic
mabel offers to teach ford her knitting spell so ford can make sweaters for himself after she leaves
ford makes mabel a sweater for the next time she visits
ford when teaching mabel is reminded of when he would teach stan spells when they were colts
mabel will help dipper with things if he needs them and has taken time to learn defensive spell to ease dippers anxieties and because she wants to protect him if he cant protect himself
dipper isnt really jealous about mabel as much as he just wishes he was also a unicorn
before weirdmageddon dippers self esteem grew when ford would invite him on adventures
after weirdmageddon hes self assured more by the fact that he helped save the world

I think Normal Bill is almost just as intelligent and knowledgeable as his canon counterpart, since he had more time to focus on science and such instead of chaos and despair and.. just about every problem in the book.
Can he also still see through trees and The All Seeing Eye on the dollar bill?
Does he have all the powers of Canon Bill?
How does he feel about Ford and Dipper?
What would he think if he saw his parents?
And.. how does he feel about all the.. imagery of him throughout the world? (Remember how Ford had a fucking golden statue of him? And with the cave paintings.. and the dollar bill, the pyramids have a vague eye shape on them (since canonically they were statues of Bill until the top hat and hands fell off) The Eye Of Providence being a sign for God.. yeah it’s REALLY suspicious, I don’t think he really trusts the Pines family at this point, because they are horrible at hiding things, you don’t need to be an all seeing god to know that.
(Sorry for the long rant, I just love this AU)
Don’t apologise for a rant 🫵 I love rants, my brain just can’t comprehend them sometimes 💥
And also aww 🥹 glad you enjoy this AU ❤️
Okay lemme try answering 👏
First yes, absolutely, he’s a smart boi
His energy is just in the nerd stuff now, instead of chaotic insane vibes he has in the canon
Yea and I think he considers it normal lmao
“Wait what do you mean you don’t see through trees Mabel? Like.. I thought everyone did??”
He’s a smart boi, but he is oblivious in some instances
Not sure about all powers, but some for sure
Also this Bill walks everywhere, bc he never saw humans fly and didn’t consider trying (maybe he saw one human attempt it and decided to never try it himself 💀)
I honestly not really sure
Again not my initial idea, but remember one person saying that Bill would have some intrusive thoughts about Pines time to time, not understanding where they come from and probably feeling really guilty about those
But ultimately I think he would consider them a semi family to him
If y’all want a more detailed answer
He’s probably the closest to Mabel, bc she’s a forgiving person and treats Bill as a new person
This version of Bill would be in a girls squad and hang out with them during sleepovers (he’s a gossip girl come on 💅)
Dipper would still be cautious around Bill (as well as Ford), but would get used to him over time forming some sort of brotherly bond
Also Bill would ship Dipper and Pacifica, occasionally playing cupid for them during Dipper crushing on Wendy
He saw an opportunity to tease Dipper (and he said it would be a good enemies to lovers trope)
When people said “Stan would’ve taken that shot” yea, he would kill the child
But perhaps after seeing Mabel being buds with Bill, he just might be a little less defensive
It could both ways really: either Stan would be completely against Bill, but grow to tolerate his presence with occasional (semi)friendly bullying; or Stan would double down and just actively trying to kick Bill out
Either way they would have some sort of rivalry for sure
He would be buds with Soos and Wendy, just chilling with em on the occasion
And the last but not least Ford
He would be the most paranoid and cautious, not because he’s afraid of Bill like Dipper, but because Ford is afraid of “trigger the old Bill inside”
He and Dipper had an agreement to hide all possible information that could potentially remind Bill about his old self (all the Pines agreed to it too to some extent)
Were they successful in it? Who’s to say
Bill obliviousness saved em a bunch of times
And to address the elephant in the room: no, Billford does not exist in this AU
*booing can be heard across the fandom space* NO, YOU’RE NOT GETTING OLD MAN YAOI ON THIS ONE
🍅💥🐻‍❄️ *tiny bear screaming*
Anyway
I just don’t think it would be fitting in that particular scenario
Don’t get me wrong I like canon Billford (I love the memes and the fact that they are implied to be canon exes is hilarious), but canon Billford
This particular AU just makes the situation incredibly specific 💥
I tried to imagine a scenario where Billford could happen (like i dunno, they gave baby Bill to Oracle and then met his “normal” version)
But with the direction in which this AU went, I think it’s best to leave Ford and Bill with a platonic/parental relationship
To be fair it would be incredibly weird to raise your ex in a baby form 😭💥
But I never actually considered to continue this AU originally, so um 💥💥
I think Ford would just eventually start treating Bill like Mabel: he’s a new person now and to keep that new person undamaged, you need to keep a lot of information hidden (for everyone’s and Bill’s own sake)
This version of Bill and Ford would get along, bc they would both be nerds
(btw Bill’s design is similar to Ford, bc this is how nerds look 🤓💅/silly) (but you can adapt it in a way that Ford just had an influence on Bill, they have a family nerd look™️)
I’m still not sure what kind of time paradox shenanigans the went through to raise Bill tho 💥
This
Honestly I think it would be hilarious if he just thought it was some different guy
“A triangle… with one eye… what if.. naaaah I don’t have a top-hat”
Anyway thank u for the ask ❤️ hope it was fun to read through💥

Gravity Falls Tarot - Part 3 of 3
Tumblr media
Assignment of every Major Arcana to someone/something in the Gravity Falls Universe! Broken into parts for coherence.
In this section we cover the final seven cards from The Devil to The World.
Part 1 | Part 2
15.) The Devil - Bill Cipher
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keywords: Obsession, addiction, dependence, excess, and selfish
Through The Devil we find Baphomet ruling over his dominion, the greedy and unfulfilled. Bill Cipher is an ancient evil, a demon from another dimension who has long attempted to conscript humanity into fulfilling his ambitions. From a young age Bill had yearned for more, for the stars themselves. Eventually, he liberated himself at the cost of his world and his family.
Despite his immense power Bill was lonely and collected others willing to trade it all for a chance at the stars. In comes one Stanford Pines, the human who will, after eons of failures, succeed at constructing the device Bill has sought.
Even after Weirdmaggedon, after usurping control of time itself, Bill was stifled, and turned on by the humans he'd attempted to enslave. Bill sat atop a throne of lies, bringing chaos to the world, but even he could not control the fire he started.
16.) The Tower - The Portal
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keywords: Upheaval, destruction, trauma, chaos, and punishment
The Tower crumbles under the weight of natural forces...or is the lighting divine retribution? The Portal in Gravity Falls contributes to much of the mystery and misery of the narrative. In reverse we learn; Stan gathers the journals to start the portal, Ford constructs the portal alongside McGucket with the latter deeming it too dangerous, and Bill Cipher yearns for the portals completion.
For Stan the portal is atonement, amends made for pushing his brother into it thirty years ago. For Ford the portal is ascension, a manifestation of his genius and dedication towards discovering the truth. For Bill the portal is escape, release from his 2D confines and the power to exert his will across the cosmos.
Whether its through its construction, activation, or destruction the Portal embodies facing the truth that truth changes, and not all thats revealed is glamorous.
17.) The Star - Mabel Pines
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keywords: Hope, inspiration, rejuvanation, renewal, and blessing
The Star stands in the wake of The Towers collapse both fragile and faithful. Mabel, the shooting star herself, is the second half of our dynamic duo with Dipper - his equal and opposite. Mabel is a force of passion, comedy, and optimism embodying all the frivolities of childhood we grow to miss.
When Weirdmaggedon strikes Mabel is at her lowest, reckoning with the end of summer and the threat of abandonment by her other half. Consumed by these fears she falls to Bills temptations and withdraws into a world of bliss constructed to guard her heart. Only Dipper, earnest and resolute, could provide his sister the push needed to face reality head on.
Mabel is inspiring to many and the love she carries is integral to restoring Stan's memories after his great sacrifice. When her cup runs dry Dipper will be there to fill it for her, and that bond will carry both twins into the future.
18.) The Moon - Robbie Valentino
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keywords: Confusion, illusion, clarity, darkness, and phases
The Moon fortells a parting of the clouds, an opportunity to see through the shroud of night. Robbie is Gravity Falls' resident angsty teen, wrapped in black clothing and sour expressions. As a teenager he is naturally in transition with childhood behind him and adulthood on the horizon.
After breaking up with Wendy, brought about by his own insecurities leading him to rely on hypnotism, Robbie is seen listless and forlorn. It's not until Robbie himself is exposed to magical forces that he begins a relationship with Tambry. Through the Love God's potion his eyes are opened to a chance at happiness he'd otherwise overlooked.
"But you were right, just needed to move on. I'm...happy. Weird, huh?"
19.) The Sun - The Stan Twins
Tumblr media
Keywords: Happiness, vitality, success, radiance, and energy
The Sun is the rediscovery of ones fervor, looking through the world with fresh eyes and zeal. The Stan twins did not have a perfect childhood, but in one another they found comradery able to weather the toughest storm.
As the boys grew their relationship strained, burdened by insecurities thrust upon them by their surroundings. At a critical moment everything collapsed and for decades the pieces lay untouched. By the end of Gravity Falls the brothers have taken the pieces of their relationship and reconstructed the boat from their childhood, the Stan O' War II.
Things won't be the same, but that doesn't mean they'll be worse - The Sun will rise again.
20.) Judgement - Time Baby
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keywords: Awakening, purpose, reckoning, finality, and responsibility
Judgement signals the curtain call. The last of his kind Time Baby rules over the dominion of time, leading officers who maintain the stability of our universe. When a criminal or rogue agent enters our world Time Baby provides them warning if possible and destruction if required.
At multiple points Time Baby confronts Bill Cipher, the most pressing threat to time and space. In their final encounter Time Baby is overpowered, granting Bill control over Time.
There is always a judge and we can only hope they are merciful.
21.) The World - The Axolotl
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keywords: Completion, achievement, belonging, unity, and closure
The World. To swim amongst the waters of creation and know that you are both byproduct and origin - that with every breath you take the world breathes with you. The Axolotl is a divine entity, benevolent and wise in its ministrations.
The World has come full circle, dancing with the same whimsy of The Fool. It carries the lessons of all Arcana before it, allowing it to impart those lessons on all who will encounter it going forward.

Y'all have NO IDEA how personal this is to me. Like- just, him realizing that Mabel really isn’t all that different from him. That she’s got that same spirt and desire to learn and see more of the world, it just manifests differently. And the way that he relates to her with sweaters and documenting life and adventure and- AND THE HATS I MELTED AT THE HATS YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THIS IS EVERYTHING TO ME OK!! We get to see Stan bond with both twins in the show, and while we see Dipper and Ford connect we just don’t get that with him and Mabel. There really wasn’t time to dive into either of the twins relationship with him, but there’s a focus on him and Dipper because it’s needed for the story progression. Sadly that means him and Mabel just didn’t get much of that before. But NOW WE DO!!!! I know it’s only a little bit but STILL!!!!!!!! Okay I’m done now (maybe)

Plant monster reader x gravity falls headcanon.
Ford- like I said Ford is more like your father. It’s like those stereotypical tropes (I love them) where it’s a grumpy old guy x teenager without parents. Except reader is grumpy and not a teenager.
When Ford comes back home along with getting you back from Bill. He fights Stanley for A. Losing you and B. For teaching you swears
Before the portal he constantly talks to you, has you try’s new foods and such. You find it annoying but do it because you need to use him for “world domination”
You have multiple pages in the journal about you. Different drawings of you from baby plant to even when you started to eat people in weirdmageddeon. (Ford try’s to forget about that but seeing your size was really impressive and thought you looked pretty/handsome)
Once he gets back he tells you how he found other plants like you. He shows you the drawings he has off them. Before this he thought you were the only one.
He’s sad that he missed out on so much with you even if you don’t really age like anything on Earth.
He feels bad about the whole custody battle with Bill and just being with Bill in the first place.
You tell him what he missed, it’s not accurate at all and between Stan’s telling of the past and yours he doesn’t know what part is the truth and what is lies.
After being mad at Stan he notices yours and his brother’s relationship. He doesn’t mention it but he does in fact love that you two had each other while he wasn’t there.
Stan- fresh out jail uncle
You help him with the journals. You can decode Bill’s, his language is older and you can speak it. Ford’s is similar but off so Stan helps you figure out the difference.
He’s not too sure about trusting you but since reading Ford’s journals the parts where you’re in it he starts to see some redeeming signs
You two talk about Ford, Stan tells you Ford’s past while you tell him stuff you know about Ford. You bond slowly but it happens.
You both bicker a lot, you both don’t say sorry but will do a somewhat nice thing and consider that the sorry
He teaches you swear words, mostly subconsciously. He tells you about marriage and how it’s a scam
You don’t understand human culture a whole ton, like why would you date someone when you can eat them???
Stan and you watch tv, if he falls asleep with the tv on you’ll turn it off and ‘sleep’
When he has to leave, which is rarely but still. You get really lonely, you mostly change color for manipulation but this time it was just how you felt.
When Mabel and Dipper were born he called you and told you about them. You didn’t really care but it just felt nice to not be alone.
Ford didn’t celebrate his birthday a ton, so you hadn’t know Stan’s but when you found out you tried to make something
It was happy birthday written in cursive (and blood) even if it was one of his traumatizing events he cried and said it was dust in his eyes
He still doesn’t know where the blood came from and you two definitely love watching Duchess’s approval together
Soos- he’s like your first cousin
You try to eat him when he young, your excuse was “He’s cute enough to eat.”
He doesn’t really remember you when he started working at the shack.
Once you’re not all world domination, imma eat everything and everyone. You’re very helpful with Soos.
Handing him tools he drops with your vines. Holding him up if the ladder is too short. Holding the ladder so he doesn’t fall. Etc
You two talk a ton, Soos talks about random things, like Anime? No clue what it is and will just comment a few things here and there.
When him and Waddles switch bodies you genuinely don’t know what happening and he(Waddles) screams at you and runs.
You still don’t know what happened and when you asked Soos he just shrugged it off
You and him sing blanchin all the time.
You ask him to move you places or carry you around he does so, he understands not wanting to be left out.
You don’t tell Soos the full story of the past till Ford comes back but you do tell him stories.
You warn Soos about a talking triangle, you also both talk about the mailman being a werewolf.
Dipper- awkward sweaty boy
He stays far away from you. He’s read the journal and he doesn’t care if Ford wrote you in a positive light.
You scare him and you find it hilarious, but if Ford or Stan sees you doing it you get put in timeout (aka no sunlight)
You heard him singing in the shower and you start humming the song the next day. He panics and pretends he doesn’t know it.
You force him to play it on the radio because music is something only a real monster could hate.
Slowly and I mean slowly do you two bond. Mainly Mabel helping out, she’ll ask stories about Ford cause she knows Dipper will listen to them.
He’ll explain some human culture, not a whole ton but bits and pieces.
You both will talk about Bill, (your relationship with bill is rocky) but trash talking? You love doing it.
Once in a while he’ll come downstairs and sit at the couch just nursing a cup of water. You’ll wake up slowly and notice him.
At the start you’ll both ignore each other, then you’ll notice how his body is reacting. You each a vine out, like offering a hand.
You’ll talk about something stupid, basically showing how bad you are with humans. He accept and will tell you he still gets nightmares about Bill possessing him.
It’s not much but you tell him that Ford did too, and Bill’s gone now. The only thing here to harm ya is me. You move over to the couch and turn the tv on.
He falls asleep and that’s when you make ask Ford and Mabel how to handle this stuff without being so truthful as to why.
Mabel- glittery extrovert girl
She loves you, I mean a pretty/handsome plant that can talk? What’s not to love?
You often ask her for favors or advice. You ask her about what love is like, it seems to be an important thing to humans.
For advice it’s really stupid how you ask, you’re embarrassed to ask and she tend to make a scene sometimes.
She makes you sweaters and they say flower puns. Also decorated a whole area for you so you had a place that felt like a room.
She brings you to girls days, or girl sleepovers. You claim to hate it but you like to watch how they interact. Plus you’re awesome at games.
She asks you when your birthday is and you say you don’t have one. She freaks out and ask Grunkle Ford if that’s true.
When she finds out she throws the best party ever. She even makes a separate cake made out of flashlights (for uv) and dirt. (She will not touch blood)
You don’t react at all, Ford was against the idea since he knew Mabel wouldn’t be happy with the results.
You make some weird noise that sounds like crying but isn’t. You then yell about world domination and how you hate humans. (They all know you don’t mean it)
Like I said she asks about stories from you, she made a scrapbook for you, it has drawings from said stories.
Say Gideon didn’t go to jail and comes to the mystery shack, you try eating him. You claim it’s cause you can but you really do it for Mabel.
Bill- ex-dad
You three used to have fun.
Bill taught you about the mindscape, all that jazz.
Bill calls you Twoey and you don’t get it but did like.
Before everything turned to shit you two were close. I like to think it’s evil dad x daughter who thinks she’s evil but actually isn’t
You both pull pranks, find pain hilarious, the typical.
Once you notice how Billford is toxic and not cool. You don’t do anything to stop it but don’t do anything to help it.
Even if you didn’t have much knowledge on relationships you felt that it was wrong.
Bill notices this and manipulate you and tell you it’s normal. Then you’ll come back to being normal
Once they both go crazy and “break up” you try your best with Ford. (You make him sit in the sun)
When Bill takes you back? Just feeds you a ton and lets you be the “heir” to the throne. Not that he’ll die, surely not.
You hate him sure but there’s a part of you that actually had fun with him.
I have full fic for this and another headcanon if you wanna check them out

Hey, probably I might need your advice: the fandom talked plenty about the similarities between Ford and Dipper, and Stan and Mabel. But what about Dipper and Stan, and Ford and Mabel?
I admit, I have more thoughts on Stan & Dipper, because I got attached to their relationship over the first 1.5 seasons and thus spent more time thinking about it. :P We have a lot less information on Ford & Mabel, you know? But let's see...
Stan & Dipper:
Very strong protective streak (turning vindictive if someone's already hurt their family)
Enjoyers of sarcasm, snark, and mockery
Ready to start fights and make enemies to a degree that Mabel and Ford just aren't
Possibly tying all the above together: strong sense of an in-group/out-group divide, if that makes sense. Their default worldview is that the world's divided into Their People and Other People - and while it's easier to cross that line than they probably think (because they're softies), the line very much is there and it makes a difference which side someone's on
I was gonna say "self-doubt" but... it's not like Ford doesn't have that. That might just be a Pines Trait.
Mabel & Ford:
Honestly? I think they're the nice ones. More open to new friends, less inclined to hurt enemies for the sake of it (unless it's, like, Bill. you don't have to be vindictive to hate Bill).
As I have seen the fandom point out, Arts & Crafts! Ford's a talented artist, made his own Journals, and is generally interested in everything - "bonding over crafts" is a fun option for them
I want to say that Weirdness is a bond between them, in a different way than with Ford & Dipper. Dipper's got his birthmark, but I don't think he really thinks of himself as visibly Weird. Mabel does think of herself as Weird, by temperament, and usually this is something she loves about herself but she can be made to feel bad about it. I feel like her "Irrational Treasure" crisis would really strike a chord with Ford "but what if I am a freak?" Pines.
This is superficial but they get called the Sweater Twins sometimes in fandom, and that's cute
Otherwise, the +1 section of 5+1 Stan & Dipper fic is basically my thesis statement on "how they're alike." :P And I know there are good fics in the Ford & Mabel tag, if you want to see what other people have done with that dynamic!

Plz share your thoughts on Ford!!!!!
sorry for the delay lol I'm moving. I had something longer typed up but I realized like 75% of it was just me reciting moments from Gravity Falls. So I'll just write my overall character analysis
I think overall Ford is a good character thats well rounded. most of his issues stem from his Superiority complex, which often leads him to think he is the only one capable of doing anything. Despite this, he always needs to be saved by others (Stan, Dipper, and Mable all save him on multiple occasions)
This affects his relationships with his family heavily, we see that he won't even thank Stan for saving him and keeping his house safe (I mean he did steal his identity but whatever) He is quick to kick him out of the house and discredit the business that's seen success for 30+ years. When Dipper wants to go save Mable, Ford doesn't even try and instead tells Dipper that she'll be ok. He's very mission driven, which makes him consider whats best for his goal/the world over anything else.
His relationship with Dipper is strange to me, I have mixed feelings on it but I think it ended well. I'm not sure if he took interest in Dipper only because he felt they were equals or because they bonded over DnD...He sees himself in Dipper but not a super healthy way. Ford is, like I said, very mission focused but that can lead him to be selfish. Him asking Dipper to stay in Gravity Falls and study under him was framed by him to be his big honor-us thing, but we know what happened to Fiddleford. He tells Dipper that he's too special for normal school and that Mable will be fine without him, despite Mable begging him to stay with her. Dipper overall is a foil to Ford IMO, because they have similar interests but Dipper is more willing to work with others and sacrifice his wants for others.
His foil to Stan is interesting because of the family aspect. Stan would burn the world down if it meant saving his family and keeping them safe, but Ford would rather them leave him alone because of everything I said before. Stan from the get go did not want Dipper messing with the magical stuff, but also sees his brothers curiosity within Dipper so it's conflicting to him.
Idk. this was more organized in my head lol. Ford is cool! Stan is hotter.

they have a lot of history and neither of them are perfect humans so their relationship is a little complicated
when they first meet each other mutt puts ford on this crazy pedestal and basically thinks he can do no wrong.
puppy looooove
mutt just believes so strongly that he's the most wonderful and smart and kind person in the world for helping them manage their lycanthropy
this causes them to be blind to a lot of ford's flaws lol
mutt is a very emotional person who needs a lot of communication and support in order to feel secure in a relationship
they have an anxious-ambivalent attachment style and are therefore kind of clingy and get super nervous when they perceive ford as not giving them as much attention as normal
ford doesn't really notice this because, though i love the man, i think he might get a little awkward and not be so good at handling others feelings
since neither of them are doing a good job at communicating what they're feeling, the two of them end up eventually having a falling out around the time that ford and bill start getting really close
after ford returns to gravity falls in 2012, the two of them are reunited after 30 years
now with mutt having a more developed sense of self and being more able to regulate their emotions and ford able to communicate about emotions better, the two of them develop a more healthy and stable relationship where they actually talk about how they feel with one another
overall they are both two nerds who love each other very much
they may have had one extremely long rough patch but you better believe that the two of them are using all their combined brain power to work it out and get back to where their relationship was before! :3
pines twins:
these three initially have a very rocky relationship.
because of mutt working at the tent of telepathy and his constant fighting with stan, the twins really don't like him at all and kind of just see him as one of gideon's goons
after the season 1 finale, however, mutt is free from fear of gideon exposing his secret and ends up working at greasy's diner instead.
after he ends up helping to expose gideon and starts getting a long with stan, mabel warms up to him pretty quickly
both are lovers of crafts and all things sparkly and cute so they bond over their shared interests
dipper remains suspicious of mutt for longer, especially after he finds something that connects him to the journals, but eventually starts to like him once ford returns and vouches for him being a good person
overall mutt is kind of like a third uncle to the twins and feels very protective of them!
frisk:
WAHHHH MY LITTLE BABY
wish is so protective over frisk because like, THATS A BABYY THATS JUST A BABY EVERYONE STOP FIGHTING THEM NEEEOOOOOWWWWWW
follows them all throughout Waterfall because what if they get hurt????????
tries distracting undyne in order to protect them
this doesn't work very well but hey, at least she tried lmaoo
sneaks frisk free food from MTT-Brand Burger Emporium whenever their hp gets low because thats where she works ^^

Persistently Optimistic
Stanford Pines considers himself a man of many regrets.
One of which is feeling as though he never spent enough time with his great-niece
Notes:
I had the absolute biggest honor to write this piece for @gf10yearslaterzine!!!
This is the first time I've ever been able to write for one that made it all the way to the end goal, so this feels like a massive accomplishment for me! I'm really proud of myself and how far I've come, and I sincerely hope it shows through my work!
I decided not to go the route of a time-skip, but rather to focus on a dynamic that didn't get nearly enough love in canon. Ford and Mabel bonding will always be my beloved, and what better place to represent that in a love letter to the series itself?
Thank you, Gravity Falls, you've brought me unbelievable levels of joy over the years. I can't even begin to measure the people in my life that I've met as a result of my love for this show. Thank you, my lovely readers, who have supported me over the years and encouraged me to keep writing even when I've thought of giving up. Thank you to the wonderful crew of the show. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
AO3
For as long as he could remember, Ford was convinced that nothing in this world could make him happier than the thrill of discovery. In a world where he was always seen as the abnormality, nothing put a bigger smile on his face than knowing he wasn’t alone, that there were far weirder creatures out there than a geeky polydactyl scientist who played too many tabletop games.
He thought for sure that he would never find an outlet as comforting as research, as documented proof that there was a place where all the weirdos out there could fit in. And for decades he was right, and was sure research and oddities were the only positive consistencies he would ever have in his life.
But then came along Dipper and Mabel, and everything that was missing in his life just fell right back into place. Sure, he still finds unmeasurable joy in hunting down all the mythical creatures he’d been hearing about since his childhood, but now he’s just as happy to be back in Gravity Falls for the summer as he was doing research out at sea.
He smiles to himself at the thought, and continues on with unpacking his things. He’s only got one box left to unpack, and as long as nothing else distracts him he should be all finished and settled in within half an hour.
As if that train of thought was an invitation, Ford’s hand brushes across something bright pink and covered in glitter.
Mabel’s scrapbook.
He’d completely forgotten that he and Stan had taken it with them on their trip. She was the one who insisted they bring it in case Stan’s memory started acting up again, and no matter how much Ford had protested in fear of damaging or losing it, she just shrugged it off and insisted that she could always make a new one.
They hadn’t needed to use it nearly as much as Ford was originally thinking they would’ve, and for that he’s eternally grateful, but just the weight of it in his hands is enough to cause a rush of emotions to come flooding back to him.
Mabel Pines is something special.
Even when all the hope in the world was lost, even when everyone else around her was grieving for lost love, she persisted. When all science and logic pointed towards failure and heartbreak, she persisted. She believed with her heart and soul that the answer was to love and nurture, and she was right.
Ford takes a moment to flip through some of the pages, now that there’s no urgency or panic behind it. The more he flips through pages and pages of blurry photographs and paragraphs upon paragraphs written in glitter gel, the more he realizes just how exuberant and loving she is all the time, even through the written expression of her own private thoughts.
The more he reads, the more he realizes that...he doesn’t know as much about Mabel as he thought he did. They’d spoken quite a few times over the previous summer, and Mabel was always present during the video calls home when he and Stan were out at sea, but it’s hitting Ford that...he never really took the time to get to know her on a personal level like he had with Dipper.
...No. He closes the scrapbook and forces himself to stop that train of thought before the guilt has time to sneak its way in. There’s still time. There’s plenty of time. He gently places the scrapbook down on his desk, and makes his way up to Dipper and Mabel’s shared attic bedroom.
He knocks gently on the door as he enters. Dipper’s lying on his bed reading a book, and Mabel is lying down on the floor on her stomach as she scratches behind Waddles’ ears.
“Hi Grunkle Ford!” she beams, and Dipper lowers his book to wave hello. “What brings you here?”
“Well, I wanted to check in and see how unpacking was coming along, but it appears that you’re getting along just fine” he smiles, and takes a knee so he’ll be closer to her eye level. “Mabel, dear, would you like to get some lunch with me? My treat.”
“Would I?” she beams, and she’s already dragging Ford out of the room before he has any time to explain why. “Free food and an afternoon with the smartest Grunkle in the world? Let’s go!”
Ford can’t help but smile fondly at her enthusiasm, and simply follows as she leads him by the hand out of the Shack. She practically skips along the sidewalk as they go, quietly humming a tune to herself. Even as she drags along someone at least twice her size, nothing slows her step for even a moment.
“So, what’s the catch?” she asks once they’re about halfway to the diner, cutting into his thoughts. Ford is initially taken aback by the question, but he finds relief in the smirk spreading across his niece’s face. “Are you finally going to give me my invitation letter to wizard school?” She claps her hands together, her smirk growing ever so slightly mischievous. “Ooh, Dipper isn’t here! Are you about to tell me that I’m your favorite nibling? It’s okay, I promise I won’t tell.” She gently nudges at his side with her elbow, and a chuckle escapes Ford as he ruffles up her hair.
“I’m afraid it’s a no on the wizard school, kiddo” he smirks, attempting to mirror her own. “You just missed the enrollment period by a few days.”
“Oh, boo” Mabel pouts, crossing her arms over her chest. “Just when I’d started knitting my own wizard’s robe, too”
“I’ll be sure to put an extra good word for you next semester, then,” he smiles, and gently places a hand on her shoulder. “However, there is something I wanted to discuss with you in private”
The mischievous grin doesn’t waver on her face for even a moment. “Ooh, mysterious author-y secrets! Even better!” she tugs on his hand as she pulls him along at a faster pace, which only causes the smile on Ford’s face to soften even more. He’d figured he wouldn’t get very far conversation wise on the way there, but leave it to Mabel Pines to make even a walk to the local diner twice as enjoyable as he ever could’ve imagined it.
…Even more of a reason to regret not trying to make a personal connection with her sooner, he supposes.
He does his best to keep that train of thought to himself, and spends the rest of the time on the walk to the diner just allowing himself to enjoy her company.
“So…” Mabel begins once they’re settled into their table at Greasy’s. “What’s up?” She places her elbows on the table, and rests her chin on her hands. “I can’t imagine what you could possibly find so important that you insist we talk about it privately, yet so tame that you insist on bringing me to the most popular restaurant in town”
Ford chuckles. “It’s one of the only restaurants in town at all, dear. I’d say that title is pretty moot in this case.” He scratches at his chin, suddenly finding that now that he has the opening he’d wanted to talk about things that he’s feeling much more anxious about addressing them than he’d originally thought.  “In all seriousness, Mabel, this is less about keeping secrets, or anything overly exciting like you were probably hoping, and more on the line of something…personal that I wanted to express with you”
“Oh, ho ho!” She beams, mischievously rubbing her hands together. “Grunkle Ford, have you finally come around on my matchmaking services? I know at least a dozen old ladies who would find you at least twice as attractive as Grunkle Stan, if you promise never to tell him I told you that!”
Ford’s cheeks burn bright red, but he waves a dismissive hand before she can go any further with that conversation. “Th-that’s very kind of you to offer, but…no” he clears his throat, hoping to clear the blush from his face as well. “I was thinking more on the lines of discussing what happened last summer”
“...Oh” Mabel’s mischievous smile slips from her face. “You mean with the scrapbook? I already told you that it’s no big deal”
Ford shakes his head. “It is a big deal, Mabel. I’m not sure Stan would’ve ever been the same again if it hadn’t been for your persistent optimism and quick thinking”
“Aww, shucks, Grunkle Ford” Mabel waves a hand, a light blush forming on her cheeks. “You know that’s just how I am”
“But it’s so much more than that, Mabel” Ford reaches across the table and takes Mabel’s hands in his own. “You’re a brilliant young girl that never gives up on her hopes and dreams in even the most dire of circumstances, but…” he casts his glance elsewhere to avoid eye contact with her, “I only wish I’d been able to see that sooner. I neglected you in favor of your brother last summer, and I want to make it up to you. I’m sorry”
Silence, save for the sound of Mabel getting up from her seat. Ford sighs, and prepares to stand to follow her out the door to further explain, but before he can so much as scoot a single inch out of his booth, there are a pair of tiny arms around him.
“Is that what this is about?” Mabel’s words are muffled as she hugs him. “Grunkle Ford, you big softie!” she gives him a big squeeze before she releases and returns to her seat across from him. “I’m always happy to have an excuse to spend some private time with my favorite Grunkles, but you don’t need to feel bad about anything!”
Ford blinks. That was…certainly not the reaction he was expecting. “Really?”
“Of course!” she beams.  “All that it means is that you have the pleasure of getting to know me now!” She offers a hand in his direction. “It’s nice to meet you, Grunkle Ford”
There’s something inexplicably contagious about the way she smiles. Ford can’t help but offer a warm smile in return as he shakes her hand. “The pleasure’s all mine,” he replies, which only widens her smile even further.
“So is there anything in particular that you were hoping to question me about? I know you said that it didn’t have anything to do with letting you borrow the scrapbook for the winter, but I’ve been told that my methods of seeking out scrapbook-ortunities are…questionable”
Ford can’t help but laugh. “No, I assure you that I’m not here to criticize the means of which you organize your scrapbook without your explicit permission” he places a hand to his chest in mock offense. “As a fellow author, I’m horrified at the thought”
That gets a laugh out of Mabel, and she relaxes into her seat. Ford knows he can’t stall this conversation forever, though, so he reaches across the table and takes her hand again. “In all seriousness, Mabel, this…does have a bit to do with your scrapbook, but not in the way you may be expecting”
“Oh?” Mabel raises an eyebrow. “How so?”
“I mean…” Ford sighs. “There’s so much love in you, Mabel. I’ve only had the time to read a portion of your scrapbook, and I feel as though I was able to gather more about your personality from reading those entries than any of the efforts I made last summer”
Ford twiddles with his thumbs anxiously, but continues before she has the chance to cut him off. “You’re so optimistic, even when you’re face to face with the direst of circumstances. You’re so full of hope and love that you’re able to continuously push against the obstacles in your way to make sure that everyone on both sides of a problem can be happy.”
He shakes his head in disbelief, but a small smile forms on his face nonetheless. “Mabel, in a world where I grew up being told that you have to rely on logic and smarts to get anywhere useful, you managed to fight back with the power of love and come out of that fight victorious”
His gaze falls towards the table, suddenly finding that he’s far too embarrassed to meet her eyes. “In other words…” he pauses for the briefest of moments “…thank you for proving me wrong.”
There’s another bout of silence, but this one doesn’t feel nearly as heavy as the previous one. Ford finally finds the courage to lift his gaze from the table and back towards Mabel, and her eyes are shining brighter than anything he’s ever encountered in the multiverse. “Grunkle Ford, that’s so sweet!” she squeals, excitedly kicking her feet against her seat. “This is even better than wizard school!”
“It’s my pleasure, dear,” he smiles warmly in response. Her happiness truly is the most contagious thing in the universe. “It’s why I regret not taking the time to get to know you sooner. I know you’ve already told me I don’t need to apologize, but the honest truth is that I feel like there’s a lot I can learn from you”
“Is that what this is about?” she replies, though her beaming smile stays where it is on her face. “Grunkle Ford, do you think that I think you’re all cold and uncaring?”
Ford rubs awkwardly at the back of his neck. “Not necessarily you specifically, but…” he pauses for a moment to try and gather the proper way to phrase things, “I’ve never found myself able to approach things with the same sort of caring, optimistic attitude that you seem to carry around with you on a daily basis, and I really admire that about you”
“Aww, but you don’t have to try and force yourself to be like that! Grunkle Ford, you’re one of the most caring people I know! You’re so protective, and you care a lot about your research, and about me and Dipper, and even Stan! I don’t know what happened between you two when Bill had you captured in that…pyramid prison thing, but look how far you’ve gotten! You couldn’t even look each other in the eyes last summer, and now you’re sailing all over the world together! You don’t need kindness lessons from me; you’ve got plenty of it already!”
…Now Ford’s the one with a blush rising to his cheeks. “Thank you, dear, that means a lot to me”
“Of course!” She reaches her hands across the table once more. “I love you just the way you are, Grunkle Ford” she smiles softly, a mischievous twinkle shining in her eyes. “But if you’re still willing to take me out to free lunch and go on private little adventures after this amazing pep talk I just gave you, I won’t complain”
Ford can’t help the chuckle that escapes him. “It’d be an honor, dear”

hoh boy do I have some. i will simply put questions. no adding…
Which being would come with Ford? Would they have to fit through the portal physically? Do they immediately attack the Pines which makes some Nice Angst? Hmm..
Doors the henchmaniac just Live There now? They might get genuinely reformed but how would they happen? Or do they just die. demon slaughtering would be a nice activity
Are the Pines just stuck with weirdness gravity falls now?? how do they fix that?! weirdmageddon started when bill arrived! it could be the rift maybe… but how would they close the rift? Ooo, the zodiac! Maybe it wasn’t meant to kill bill, just reverse the damage?!! I have no idea, but there could be reasons why it doesn’t go away when he dies.
Would Bill be aware of Ford’s time reverse? Probably not, to spice up the meter. Ford just… LIVES now. There’s so much to do. Reminding relationships! But he would be so reluctant to reach out to fiddleford. Stan even less so! But there’s no portal now, so many. But what’s bout the future timeline? Where does that go? Does this happy timeline suddenly crash with the weirdmageddon Ed timeline with a dead ford and absolutely lost the game citizens!? Bill will confuse to rule this timeline! He can transcend timelines! WHERE DOES THEFUTURE GO? man. a happy world colliding with a miserable as fuck one.
(I can see how the ford dies idea could start. the zodiac and the reanimated people escape successfully after stan refuses to hold ford’s hand. them still be absolutely PISSED at each other. There’s no shack now! They try to run to the Bunker, since that’s the only place virtually left. But, Oh No! Somehow, Bill and the henchmaniacs catch up. ford ends up caught in the crossfire and DYING. it’s very angsty and sad. shit ton of regretfr. and then the plot happens. this was hard to explain! Hopefully I did it right—)
So many questions and I have answers for all of them! Nice!
The idea with the first fic is that multiple henchmaniacs come through the portal. I'm thinking maybe three or four? As for who would come through...for some reason, I imagine 8 Ball is one of them. Maybe Xanthar, because property damage and also Steve needs a friend.
Imagining Xanthar having to get through the portal can be both funny and horrifying, so I think they get through physically. 8 Ball does try to eat Dipper in canon, so the Pines family probably does get immediately attacked. Can't imagine Ford's doing too hot, either.
If any of them were going to get reformed, it would be Xanthar, funnily enough. Xanthar always struck as more animal-like than the others, so I don't think it would be as interested in spreading chaos as the other henchmaniacs. The others can be slaughtered. As a treat.
Anyway, the second fic! I haven't really thought much about how they would fix the weirdness. I think the fic would focus more on them surviving and learning to adapt to it. Nice family bonding activity: shooting and cooking bats for food because we're running out of canned meat and be careful not to shoot too many cause animals don't really come inside the bubble anymore
I like the zodiac idea. Unfortunately, Ford isn't exactly...present anymore, so I'm not sure how they would pull that off.
Fic three, the one I know the most about: Bill does not know! He is completely clueless. Ford wakes up to "DON'T HAVE A HEART ATTACK, YOU'RE NOT 92 YET!" and immediately shuts Bill down. Bill just. leaves. Ford is extremely confused.
He does consider reaching out to Fiddleford, but ultimately decides not to. He doesn't want the gremloblin situation to happen again. He does reach out to Stan though! He may pissed at the guy, but...he's definitely not in a good living situation if he's having to chew his way out of car trunks.
So, Stan lives with Ford now! Starts out really rocky, but it gets better over time. Ford even tells Stan about what's happening after a while. Does Stan believe him? Good question, he has no idea.
The fic is entirely from Ford's perspective, and he has no idea what's happening in the future. He does think about it a lot, though.
It may be a happier world from an outside view (especially for Stan), but to Ford it's the absolute fucking worst. He has no idea what happened or why it happened, and he doesn't know that Bill doesn't know. No one else knows about it, he can't trust anyone enough to talk to them about it, and how would they help, anyway? And there's no niblings, at least not yet. What could be worse than that?
I love the bunker idea, I actually like it better than the way I decided Ford dies in the fic. Which is via Bill's torture. He has. No idea what's going on outside the fearamid.

i think ford would feel So Bad for the mabel thing once he found out the full story even though he never meant to dismiss or overestimate her and she doesn't blame him for it at all anyways (her main issue was with dipper accepting it more than ford offering it) because well he is just so good at beating himself up for things that aren't really his fault
YEAH the thing with Ford at this point in the show is that he both has huge trust issues and is ashamed of his past with Bill. Dipper is like the closest person to him right now because they've bonded over shared interests and Ford was pushed to the point of telling him about his connection to Bill after avoiding it for a whole episode.
He says himself that Dipper reminds him of a younger version of himself and I'm sure it's the reason Ford offered him the apprenticeship in the first place. Ford had his chance to get the best carrier path he could ruined by his twin, assuming it was because Stan couldn't handle being without him. So he wanted to offer Dipper the chance to get a good education without needing to be tied to his twin all the time. On top of that note how in The Last Mabelcorn, Ford says he wished he was more like Dipper when he was younger in regards to him being cautious about Bill (despite the fact that Dipper has been tricked by him before + Dipper's first impression of him was that of a suspicous and possibly malicious creature).
That's a lot of words to say I think it's less that Ford dismisses Mabel specifically, and it's more that he has clung to Dipper because he sees him as a younger version of himself who still has his chances in life and hasn't made horrible, potentially world-ending mistakes. And he has so much faith in him to the point where he trusts this twelve year old to keep a snowglobe that will cause the apocalypse if it breaks 👍

Gravity Falls 10th Anniversary List O’ Favorite Things:
Tumblr media
OK, Let’s GO! @gf10yearslaterzine, thanks for the questions/prompts!
1. Favorite Character:
At first, it was:
Tumblr media
^Because of that moment^
I started watching shortly after NWHS aired (with no knowledge of the emotions train that would hit when I got to that episode) because I’d seen a few people talking about how funny, cute, and smart Gravity Falls was and instantly liked the girl who made a light-up sweater. Instead of marathoning it, I saved it to watch an episode every so often as a fun pick-me-up for after watching more dramatic/sad/emotional things and eventually caught up right around when ATOTS aired.
Then this happened:
Tumblr media
And Ford became my favorite and the show became a hyperfixation. This nerd who survived thirty years of what drove Fiddleford to erase his memory from a few seconds of exposure and who wrote things like Trust No One, who shoots first and asks questions later, and who is so full of trauma just... Played happily along with Giggle Time Bouncy Boots. He was still so passionate for the things he loved, still ready to be silly, just wanted to have a friend because he’d felt alone for so long, and was still trying to do good for the world despite everything. He had his flaws and misconceptions but ultimately, this nerd was doing the best he could with what he had.
Also, I’ve written about this before but it meant a lot, personally, to see his character type allowed to be one of the heroes where most media would villainize someone like him.
Answers for the rest of the questions (and a plaidypus drawing) are under the cut (because it’s easier for my brain to process answering them together and I don’t want to take up a ton of dash space):
2. Favorite Journal Page:
Oof. A Tough one. There are so many hilarious or cute or just well put-together pages. But, I’m going to go with the last two-page spread because it’s so nice to see them all happy like this:
Tumblr media
Honorable mention to this one too just because I love the artwork for it:
Tumblr media
Oh! and a third mention to the MY MUSE WAS A MONSTER page for the sheer rawness of it.
3. Favorite Monster/Creature:
Tumblr media
The plaidypus! So much cute...
4. Favorite Location:
Tumblr media
The deep/enchanted forest areas. They’re so pretty.
5. Favorite Episode:
To tie in with the favorite character prompt:
Tumblr media
We get to see the family work together, Weird Al is there, Grenda gets to weaponize an armchair, and we get to see who Ford is now, not from the past, not from the journal, and not fresh out of the nightmare realm. Bonus points for Stan apologizing to Dipper for making fun of him. I feel like that was a huge character growth moment for him and more reason to love his character too.
6. Funniest Joke:
Oh man. I’m not sure what to pick here. There’s the classic ones that became memes, of course, but there are also things like Dipper’s internet history and Mabel and the leaf blower.
Hmm. I’m going to go with basically the entire premise of this:
Tumblr media
Getting bored while falling in the bottomless pit.
It’s personally hilarious because on a trip in 2010, a few friends and I saw a well on the top of a mountain and wondered how deep that would have to be if there wasn’t a spring or something. That led to the idea of “at what point do you stop screaming and get hungry or bored or need to sleep when falling into a bottomless pit.” So this episode was basically our thoughts on it.
7. Favorite Game/Book/Merch:
Oof another tough one because, while Journal 3 is probably my favorite, I want to give a shout out to:
Tumblr media
I love that it gave us more stories. We got more Pacifica development, creepy faceless Mabel, a post-Weirdmageddon Stan and Ford adventure with bonus Mabel in the multiverse, a smol Stans adventure, and *gestures to all of Comix Up. I mean, how could you not love some Dipper and Pacifica bonding, Stan finding out that Ford is an interdimensional criminal, Baby Stan and Ford bonding, and almost the entire cast hilariously stuck in anime schoolgirl uniforms and thrown into various other comic book personas.
8. Favorite Song:
Definitely:
Tumblr media
Because that whole karaoke thing was adorable. And this actually leads into...
9. Favorite Quote:
“Karaoke is not about sounding good, it's about sounding terrible, TOGETHER.”
The sentiment is applicable to so many things. It’s not about being good or perfect, it’s about throwing expectations and self-consciousness out the window to have honest fun with the people you love.
10. A Special Memory or Moment About Gravity Falls:
Meeting so many incredible people through the fandom; People I’m friends offline with now and who I still chat with about life. It’s been one of the best experiences of my life getting to talk to so many awesome people, see your creative content, and to create my own (This show made me start drawing again and I’ve gotten hundreds of thousands of words in writing practice thanks to writing fics! Plus cosplaying and getting to meet other cosplayers! So much fun!). Thank you to everyone who helped make this show possible!

My Stanley headcanons because im like that (featuring some others but they're all Stanley-centric)
He likes metal/hard rock music. Idk something about his whole attitude to hippie music and the "Youth these days" has so much "Ugh modern rock is nothing like old rock" vibes
Going back to the previous one, i totally see him listening to SOAD. Especially Chop Suey, Prison Song and Sugar
Basically canon, but he has severe depression. Definitely suicide attempts. Maybe getting institutionalized if Dipper and Mabel's guide is any indication
It also persists his whole life. Even on the Stan O' War with Ford. He's not very educated on the whole mental health biz so he definitely leaves the meds on land thinking "Oh well i got what i wanted now". When Ford finds out he's turning that boat around in a heartbeat
His bond with Dipper is almost just as strong as with Mabel. Dipper is just very insecure about being coddled and seen as "inferior". So Stanley opts to be cold and harsh with him to try and make Dipper feel independent and grown-up
Also i feel like Stanley sees a bit of himself in Dipper. Ready to sacrifice everything for his dumb sibling, having this inherent feeling of inferiority and has a hard time trusting people
I feel like he was involved in some drug-dealing business
A common one, but he kept in touch with their mother from time to time. That's how he got Ford's number
Continuing with the previous, but Stanley had a very meaningful bond with Caryn. Maybe she was one of the only people who genuinely saw good in him. Assuming she passes away while he's still posing as Ford he definitely attends her funeral. Just to say thank you and apologize. Apologize for making her suffer so much because of his, he thinks, selfish actions
Soos knows much more than he lets on. Stan told him about as much of his life as he could, or Soos found out himself. Soos is just too loyal to tell anyone, even when he sees that Stanley keeping secrets is backfiring horrendously
In turn, Stanley knows way too much about Soos. He rarely shows it, but when he does, it's "accidentally" shoplifting his favorite candy or "i had this old thing lying around" and it's the newest copy of a videogame Soos wanted badly. Soos never comments on it
I don't think he's a father figure to Wendy. More of a friend, really. The mature one in a friend group who loves to cause mischief but knows when to stop before anyone hurts themselves. Wendy can tell him things she'd never tell her real dad or family
If we're talking canon, then i hc him as aroace. But unlike Ford, he's the kind that desperately wants to feel romantic attraction, have a lifelong partner, get married, maybe even kids. He just never could, not even because of the circumstance, but because of his own brain chemistry. He accepts that part of himself when he and Ford set sail though. Who needs romance when you have your favorite person in the world right by your side?
He always had an interest in science/space. It just got suppressed by other people constantly telling him that he shouldn't like this thing, it's for smart people and not him. He also never really understood the hyper-academic wording in textbooks. But rebuilding the portal kind of reignited that spark. And now he gets into arguments with Ford over which solar system planet is superior and why
He also sometimes corrects Ford's mistakes. Think that Adventure Time moment where Finn is able to solve a problem because Bubblegum got too caught up in her genius
He's very touch-starved. And also loves physical intimacy, no matter how much he denies it. That's why he and Ford are often clinging to each other for absolutely no reason. Simple touches like hair ruffles and hands on shoulders and silent comfort that the other is here. I love these guys.
He has memory lapses. They're never going away but they do get easier to handle. But the fear of "What if this is the last time" never fades. That's why he keeps a personal diary addressed to himself. In case he never remembers again
Similarly, he goes through a bit of an identity crisis when he's erased. He's not the type to delve too deep into philosophical and pointless questions and yet something keeps telling him "Is he really Stanley if he can't remember his own name half the time"
I'm very passionate abt my autism headcanons... There's gonna be some Ford in these because you can't say "Autism headcanons in Gravity Falls" and not say "Stanford Pines"
He's autistic and has a special interest in boating. I hc him to definitely know how to build a whole vessel from scratch, remember the names of very specific things and constantly corrects Ford when he calls the galley a kitchen. When Ford complains he just cackles and says "This is how i felt growing up with you, suck it up for once"
Also boxing
Stan and Ford don't even talk to each other half the time on the Stan O' War. They will sit on the dock and stare into the distance like "Did you know that while hotter stars usually have bluish colors, blue flame on earth isn't nessesarily hotter than regular one?" "A ship and a boat's difference lies solely in their weight. A boat is a vessel that weighs under 500 tones and a ship weighs more than that obviously" and neither register what the other have said
Stanley is very invested in social behavior. Ford on the other hand is the complete opposite. This leads to Stanley reading other people better than any neurotypical does and Ford to have no social perception skills whatsoever
Stan never gets a diagnosis. I feel like Ford does. Eventually. Or in his 20s. Ford never talks to Stan about how they're literally two sides of the same coin. He just lets him feel safe and figure everything out on his own terms. Stan knows but never mentions it either
They also find unique ways to deal with their mutual issues. Offering a cup of coffee as a way of saying "I'm sorry", a lighthearted punch to the shoulder as a way of saying "It's ok, i forgive you". Neither are good with communicating, and especially hearing the other out but who cares. They're both old and mentally ill and neurodivergent
