Hi, Thea. Thanks again for responding to my request! When I saw Nostradamus in Ror, it seemed to me that he probably likes love predictions… May I ask for a scenario in which Nostradamus makes a prediction to the fem reader about who her lover will be? (with Buddha, Hermes, Loki, Beelzebub).

A/N: Of course, how could i not!! I totally agree, Nostradamus would so enjoy helping others find potential love. Something he too deserves sometimes hehe!! <33

Nostradamus's love predictions 💕

➩ Y/N after hearing words of Nostradamus's talent in predicting ones future love life, becomes curious and decided to pay him a visit! There she learns of the gods she could end up with and even, how many children they would get. But of course not without its secrets that even Nostradumus cant tell.

Reader type: Fem!reader with Nostradamus, Buddha, Hermes, Loki and Beelzebub.

Where gods and humans collide in epic battles to determine the fate of humanity, there exists a young woman named Y/N. 

She was an ordinary human, yet her destiny was intertwined with the most extraordinary beings in existence. 

Little did she know that her life would be forever changed by a prophecy foretold by none other than the legendary prophet of the century, Nostradamus.

One fateful day, Y/N found herself seeking guidance from the most obnoxious man in all of human history, hoping to unravel the mysteries of her future. 

As she stood before the smaller man, his eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and he spoke in an excited, soft yet mysterious tone. 

“Why hello Y/N, it's certainly good to see you! Say, what brings you here today~?”

"Nostradamus, please tell me of my future, I've grown curious after hearing what you're capable of!" Y/N implored, her heart pounding with anticipation. 

She couldn't believe she was really going through with this! 

Nostradamus's eyes widened at how direct the woman had been, eventually calming himself and nodded, his gaze piercing right through the woman. 

Sending shivers up her spine, the man would just smile in response. 

“Oh dear! Very well then, let us get into it already shall we, what will it be?”

“A love prediction please! Who will I end up with or fall in love with..?”

With a wave of his hand, he conjured images of four powerful beings before them. 

Buddha, Hermes, Loki, and Beelzebub.

"You are destined to find love amidst chaos and turmoil," Nostradamus intoned, his voice echoing in the chamber they stood in, spacey but so empty. 

"Four potential lovers shall cross your path, each offering a different path of destiny. Now isn't that interesting~"

Y/N's breath caught in her throat as she listened intently to the prophecy that would shape her future. 

She looks upon the chosen gods, she had met them before.. 

"First, there is Buddha, the embodiment of serenity and enlightenment.." 

Nostradamus smirked to himself and looked at Y/N, his eyes sparkling with mischief. 

“Would you also like to know the offspring count you'll have with them too~?”

Y/N tensed up and found herself almost speechless at this, who did this guy think he was! 

Y/n felt herself start to get all flustered. Her face probably looks like a tomato ready to be plucked.

“Excuse me-! What kind of question is that!?”

Nostradamus lifts up his hand in defence, acting like he didn't know what he had done wrong! 

“Hey! I'm simply just asking..So what will it be?”

Y/n thought about it for a moment, glaring at Nostradamus. 

Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to see, after all the curiosity in who she would eventually get with was already eating her up inside! 

“Fine! Tell me that too I suppose..ugh.”

Nostradamus chuckled to himself seeing Y/N’s expression and continued. 

"With him, you shall bear him a son and find peace and spiritual awakening, but your path will be one of sacrifice."

Y/N imagined herself walking alongside the serene figure of Buddha, a little boy on her hip and finding solace in his wisdom and compassion.

Yet, she knew that such a path would demand great sacrifices, testing her resolve and strength.

"Next, there is Hermes, the messenger of the gods," Nostradamus continued, his voice taking on a mysterious tone. 

"With him, you shall bear 6 sons and 2 daughters, one child being that of both sexses.

"You'll embark on a journey of adventure and discovery, but beware, for his path is fraught with danger and unpredictability.."

Y/N envisioned herself at Hermes' side with their many children and the possible struggles, aiding him in serving the gods and his father Zeus. 

Exploring whatever secrets he was obviously hiding and being a part of it all. 

The thought thrilled her adventurous spirit, yet she also felt a twinge of apprehension at the unknown dangers that lay ahead.

"Then, there is Loki, the trickster god," Nostradamus said, his eyes gleaming with mischief. He seemed familiar with the god. 

"With him, you shall experience passion and excitement, but be wary, for his love is as unpredictable as the shifting winds.."

“What about the children we could have?”

“Well.. Let's just say you'll have 2 for now”

Y/N shivered at the thought of what Nostradamus could be hiding, what did he mean but for now? 

Y/N also thought about entangling herself with the enigmatic god, knowing all too well the chaos and mischief that followed in his wake. 

Yet, she couldn't deny the allure of his magnetic charm and mischievous grin. Maybe it would be worth it? 

"Finally, there is Beelzebub, the prince of darkness," Nostradamus concluded, his voice heavy with foreboding. 

"With him, you'll have a daughter and you'll be aiding him at the ward with his..patients. But beware, for his love comes at a great cost and he will be hiding something from you.."

Y/N recoiled at the thought of being ensnared by the dark allure of Beelzebub, knowing the perilous path that awaited her should she succumb to his temptations. 

Yet, she couldn't deny the forbidden thrill that stirred within her at the thought of embracing the darkness surrounding him.

As the visions faded and Nostradamus' prophecy came to an end, Y/N nodded and bowed respectfully. 

“Thank you for your assistance Nostradamus! I'm grateful for the information, I'll use it wisely..”

“You better Y/n, ta-ta~!”

With that Y/n left with a choice that would shape the course of her destiny. 

Would she choose the path of serenity with Buddha, the path of adventure with Hermes, the path of passion with Loki, or the path of darkness with Beelzebub?

With her heart torn between love and destiny, Y/N knew that her choice would not only determine her own fate but the fate of her love interests and future children as well. 

And so, with a heavy heart and a determined spirit, she set out on her journey, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead!

Pluto

Greek god of death; King of the Underworld

Pluto (also Pluton or Hades) is the king of the Greek Underworld (which is called Hades) and is the lord of death. He presides over funeral rites and defends the right of the dead to their due burial. Pluto is also the god of the hidden wealth of the earth, from the fertile soil which nourishes the seed-grain, to the mined wealth of gold, silver, and other metals. One of the gods who works alongside him is Thanatos, who holds power over gentle deaths (while Pluto is death in general). In one myth, Pluto was said to have brought a plague to inflict Thebes after the king refused to give proper burials to warriors, which depicts Pluto’s harsher aspect of delivering death and justice. Pluto was also usually regarded as an infertile god, for a god of death should, by his very nature, be incapable of siring any children.

Pluto was depicted as a dark-bearded, regal god. He was depicted as either enthroned in Hades, holding a bird-tipped sceptre, or as the giver of wealth, pouring fertility from a cornucopia. The Romans named him Dis, or Pluto, the Latin form of his Greek title Plouton, "the Lord of Riches."

Myths: According to Hesiod, Pluto’s parentage is said to be of Kronos (god of time) and Rhea (goddess of earth and motherhood). He was said to have been devoured by Kronos along with four of his siblings while the infant Zeus was secretly hidden away by Rhea after his birth. When Zeus later returned and fought Kronos, his siblings were spat out and together they drove the titan gods from the heavens and locked them away in the pit of Tartaros. When the three victorious brothers then drew lots for the division of the cosmos, Hades received the third portion, the dark gloomy realm of the Underworld, as his domain. However, in another version of Pluto’s parentage, it is said by the Orphics that he is actually the son of Nyx (goddess of night) and Olethros (god of doom). In my workings with Pluto and Nyx, they have said the latter myth to be the true version, which makes Pluto the half-brother of deities such as Eris (strife), Philotes (unity), Hemera (daylight), Aether (god of the aether and upper light), etc.

In another myth, Pluto had desired a bride and petitioned Zeus to grant him one of his daughters. The god offered him the young Persephone, the daughter of Demeter. However, knowing that Persephone would resist the marriage, he assented to the forceful abduction of the girl and carried her away on his chariot as she cried out for help. When Demeter learned of this, she was furious and in great despair, causing a great dearth to fall upon the Earth until her daughter was safely returned. Zeus was eventually forced to concede lest mankind perish, and the girl was fetched forth from the Underworld. However, since she had eaten the pomegranate seed after being deceived by Pluto, she was forced to return to him for a portion of each year.

Apollodorus in the following passage summarizes the contents of the Homeric Hymn to Demeter (quoted here in the following section). Pseudo-Apollodorus, Bibliotheca 1. 29-33 (trans. Aldrich) (Greek mythographer C2nd A.D.):  

“Plouton [Haides] fell in love with Persephone, and with Zeus' help secretly kidnapped her. I begin to sing of rich-haired Demeter Semne Thea (Reverend goddess) - of her and her trim-ankled daughter [Persephone] whom Aidoneus rapt away, given to him by all-seeing Zeus the loud-thunderer. Apart from Demeter Lady of the golden sword (khrysaoros), Giver of glorious fruits (aglaokarpos), she was playing with the deep-bosomed daughters of Okeanos and gathering flowers over a soft meadow, roses and crocuses and beautiful violets, irises also and hyacinths and the narcissus, which Ge (Earth) made to grow at the will of Zeus and to please the Host of Many [Haides], to be a snare for the bloom-like girl...The girl was amazed and reached out with both hands to take the lovely toy; but the wide-pathed earth yawned there in the Nysion plain, and the lord, Host of Many, with his immortal horses sprang out upon her...

He caught her up reluctant on his golden car and bare her away lamenting. Then she cried out shrilly with her voice, calling upon her father, the Son of Kronos [Zeus], who is most high and excellent. But no one, either of the deathless gods or of mortal men, heard her voice, nor yet the olive-trees bearing rich fruit: only tender-hearted Hekate, bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaios, heard the girl from her cave, and the lord Helios (the Sun), Hyperion's bright son, as she cried to her father, the Son of Kronos [Zeus]. But he was sitting aloof, apart from the gods, in his temple where many pray, and receiving sweet offerings from mortal men. So he, that Son of Kronos [Haides], of many names...was bearing her away by leave of Zeus on his immortal chariot--his own brother's child and all unwilling. And so long as she, the goddess, yet beheld earth and starry heaven and the strong flowing sea, and still hoped to see her dear mother [Demeter] and the tribes of the eternal gods, so long hope calmed her great heart for all her trouble; and the heights of the mountains and the depths of the sea rang with her immortal voice: and her queenly mother heard her.”

Appearance: A man in his 40’s with tanned skin, black hair, a short black beard, and black eyes (only the irises). He wears a black toga and often has a solemn expression.  

Personality: Pluto is very solitary, withdrawn, just, fair, serious, aloof, brooding, and compassionate. He requires his followers to respect the resting places of the dead, to show humility, and to overcome their toxic ways. He is one who understands that we all must go through the depths of suffering if we wish to gain wisdom and become better people. Yet this is something very difficult to do, so he is glad to assist along this path if one politely requests him to do so. Pluto is also a healer, but only in regards to mental sufferings due to loss and regrets; other things are not specialties of his. Pluto is a highly respectable deity and will be the guardian of many of us once we die (unless we enter a different kingdom). One should not speak cruelly of him or disrespect him due to his role as a divine king, lest they seek to invoke his wrath.  

Personal experiences: Pluto embodies a feeling of immense loneliness, and had even bound himself to the Underworld as he felt that he could belong nowhere else. But in doing this, he is unable to leave this realm for very long and has made it very difficult for him to find a companion. So, in an act of desperation, he kidnapped Persephone when he saw her in a meadow one day and carried her off to his realm as she raged against him. He pleaded with her to listen and be understanding, but of course, someone who has been kidnapped does not respond well to this. So Pluto kept her locked up in his palace hoping that she would eventually calm down and come to want to understand him, but instead, Persephone became angrier and even more desperate to escape. This soon led Pluto to force himself upon her, and he continued this for ages. After a very long time of being kept prisoner, Persephone finally managed to be rescued by other deities, but she was not the same and had lost her connection to flowers due to her stay in the Underworld. She has been traumatized ever since and harbours great anger towards Pluto and any who change the myths about what had occurred. Pluto, however, is not the same as he was before and is repenting for his actions.  

Nowadays, Pluto is a better version of his old self but still pains over his solitude. However, he does receive some company from some visiting family members such as Nyx and a few of his siblings, like Philotes. However, one is not advised to enter the Underworld through astral travel unless they are highly experienced and are granted permission to enter since this realm is not a pleasant place and some areas can even cause insanity. Despite this dark, abysmal domain, Pluto is a very understanding and patient god who is not quick to judge others and helps us to overcome our past evils in order to be reborn. Pluto also has a very strong understanding of pain and solitude, and what these emotions can turn a person into, so he can assist in healing these burdening emotions from our hearts.  

He has explained that Pluto is his true name while Hades is simply the name of the portion of the Underworld which he rules over (as the Underworld is immensely vast and has multiple kingdoms such as Kur, Duat, Helheim, etc). His role as king of Hades is to watch over the spirits of the dead who enter his domain; where they are then tormented in order to overcome their wrong-doings, negative habits/emotions, and harmful obsessions. It is not like Hell, since only evil spirits go there and they are tortured for eternity in far worse ways; the Underworld is moreso a place of harsh lessons and rebirth before one is allowed entrance to Elysium. The torments of the Underworld are also all symbolic and assist the spirit in realizing what they must change about themselves before they can become anew, yet this process usually takes many years (sometimes decades or centuries). Pluto also has power over death itself (since he embodies it) and has explained that the god Thanatos is an aspect of himself, representing a small portion of his own power. Pluto also has the power of illusion, which makes him able to cause spirits and humans alike to see whatever he wants them to see (even able to manipulate one’s astral senses).

Holocaust Remembrance: Those Who Survived and Came to Hollywood By Raquel Stecher

Officially established by the United Nations in 2005, January 27th is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This day honors the 6 million Jewish victims as well as the millions of other victims of the Holocaust. It also marks the anniversary of the 1945 liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Red Army.

From the time Hitler came to power and throughout WWII, actors, directors, producers, composers, production designers and other members of the European film industry emigrated to Hollywood to escape the Nazi regime and to begin a new phase in their careers. Some artists fled at the first sign of trouble, others were able to escape even in the face of real danger while others were interred in concentration camps and German POW camps. Many lost family members, some nearly lost their own lives but, in the end, they persevered in the face of adversity and lived to tell the tale. Here are some of their extraordinary stories.

Michael Curtiz

According to Michael Curtiz biographer Alan K. Rode, the director did everything he could to get his family out of Hungary. Curtiz arranged transport for his mother and got her housing in Los Angeles. He relocated his brothers David and Gabriel to Tijuana, Mexico where they waited for two years before being allowed entry into the United States. And Curtiz may have employed the help of Jack and Harry Warner to get the U.S. Army Air Corps to transport his sister out of Hungary. Curtiz’ brother Lajos and sisters Regina, Margit and Kornelia decided to stay behind. Margit and her family were eventually interned in Auschwitz and while Margit and her daughter survived, her husband and second child did not.

Audrey Hepburn

Born in Belgium but raised in England, Audrey Hepburn’s parents were pro-Fascists. After their separation, Audrey’s mom Ella moved the family to the Netherlands and joined the Dutch resistance. Before becoming an actress, Hepburn studied as a dancer and her skills were put to good use when she was commissioned by local resistance leader Dr. Hendrik Visser‘t Hooft to perform dance numbers at underground meetings known as “zwarte avonden”, aka black evenings. This was a way to earn money to help fund the Dutch resistance’s efforts to hide or transport Jews across the country.

Martin Kosleck

German actors who fled Europe for America often found themselves playing Nazis in Hollywood productions. Actor Martin Kosleck played Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels 5 times including a role in CONFESSIONS OF A NAZI SPY (‘39), considered the first anti-Nazi film. Kosleck himself was an outspoken opponent to Hitler and the Third Reich and fled Germany in 1931 when a warrant was issued for his arrest. A few years after he left, he was placed on the list of Gestapo’s “undesirables” and was tried and sentenced in absentia but remained safe in Hollywood.

Fritz Lang

Lang’s celebrated film METROPOLIS (‘27) was one of Adolph Hitler’s favorite films. The director caught the eye of both Hitler and Goebbels, the latter had even offered Lang the job of head of the German Cinema Institute which Lang eventually declined. Shortly after the premiere of THE TESTAMENT OF DR. MABUSE (‘33), Goebbels banned the film for inappropriate use of Nazi party slogans. Lang claimed that Goebbels then offered him another job as production supervisor at UFA which he declined. Lang’s Jewish heritage was no problem because according to Goebbels “we’ll decide who’s Jewish!” Lang wisely left Germany for Paris and eventually made it to Hollywood. His soon-to-be ex-wife and longtime collaborator Thea von Harbou joined the Nazi party and eventually wrote and directed propaganda films.

Curt Lowens

Actor Curt Lowens’ story of surviving the Holocaust was one of bravery and sheer luck. Born in Poland, Lowens’ father was a highly respected attorney and his mother was an active member of the local Jewish community. His father moved the family to Berlin in hopes that he would find more work among the large Jewish community in that city. As the political climate changed, the Lowens planned to emigrate to the US by way of the Netherlands but the Germans invaded the day they were supposed to leave. Lowens’ father’s connections helped saved them from deportation to Auschwitz and eventually got them out of Westerbork. The family went into hiding and Curt Lowens changed his name to Ben Joosten and became an active member of the Dutch resistance. On V-E Day, Lowens rescued two members of the US Army Air Corps for which he received a commendation from General Dwight Eisenhower.

Branko Lustig

Croatian producer Branko Lustig is best known for his work on SCHINDLER’S LIST (‘93). Lustig himself was a survivor of both the Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps. In his acceptance speech for the Best Picture Oscar for SCHINDLER’S LIST, Lustig said, “My number was 83317. I’m a Holocaust survivor. It’s a long way from Auschwitz to this stage. I want to thank everyone who helped me to come so far. People died in front of me at the camps. Their last words were ‘be a witness of my murder. Tell to the world how I died. Remember.’” Lustig hoped that his work on the film helped fulfill his obligation to the innocent victims of the Shoah and that we will never forget what happened to them.

S.Z. Sakall

The actor affectionately known as “Cuddles” was born Gero Jeno in Hungary in 1883. Early in his acting career he changed his name to Szöke Szakall (aka Blonde Beard) which was later shortened to S.Z. Sakall. The Jewish Sakall performed on stage and in film in Hungary and Austria. In his autobiography he remembers a chance meeting with Hitler, who openly criticized Sakall’s recent picture A CITY UPSIDE DOWN (‘33). Years later Sakall and his second wife Anna Kardos fled for Hollywood. Many members of Sakall’s family, including sisters, nieces and in-laws died in concentration camps. Sakall almost turned down the role of Carl the head waiter in CASABLANCA (‘42) because he thought it might be too much to bear.

Roman Polanski

Born in France but raised in Poland, by the age of nine Roman Polanski and his parents were deported and separated from each other. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Polanski recalls that his pregnant mother was most likely killed upon arrival to Auschwitz. His father was interned at the Mauthausen camp in Austria and managed to survive the ordeal. Polanski himself avoided the concentration camps by changing his name to Romek Wilk and fleeing to the countryside where he hid until the liberation. His experiences influenced his film THE PIANIST (2002) although he claims that the film was in no way autobiographical. 

Douglas Sirk

In 1934, the German director divorced his first wife Lydia with whom he had a son Klaus. Both Lydia and Klaus joined the Nazi party and because Sirk’s second wife Hilde was a Jewish woman he was not permitted to have contact with his son. Klaus was a child actor in numerous Nazi propaganda films and eventually served as a soldier in the German army and died on the battlefield in 1944. While filming in the Netherlands in the late 1930s, Sirk was contracted by Warner Bros. and he and his wife fled the Nazi regime for a new life in Hollywood.

Otto Preminger

A few years before Otto Preminger moved to Hollywood, he was offered the position of director of Austria’s state-run theater, the Burgtheater, which required that he convert from Judaism to Catholicism. Preminger turned down the offer. This was a good decision on Preminger’s part because it allowed him to later take Joseph Schenck’s invitation to work in Hollywood. Also, religious conversion would not have protected Preminger from the Nazi regime. Preminger left in 1937 and his parents and brother stayed behind. When Austria was invaded in 1938, they found refuge in Switzerland.

Conrad Veidt

The German born star of films like THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI (‘20) was not Jewish himself but stood in solidarity with wife Lily who was. When Goebbels required actors in the German film industry to declare their race Veidt made the bold decision to declare himself on the form as Jude (Jew). This infuriated Goebbels who proclaimed that Veidt would never work in Germany again. He and his wife fled for England in 1933 and later emigrated to Hollywood. Veidt would go on to play Nazis on screen including his part as Major Strasser in CASABLANCA.

Fred Zinnemann

Austrian director Fred Zinnemann started off as a concert violinist and a law student before transitioning to a career in film. He left for Hollywood in 1929 seeking better opportunities. His film THE SEVENTH CROSS (‘44) was one of the first to acknowledge the existence of concentration camps. Unfortunately, Zinnemann lost both of his parents in the Holocaust. According to a page of testimony Zinnemann filed on behalf of his parents for the Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority in 1984, his mother Anna most likely died in Auschwitz in August 1942 and his father Oskar died in Belzec around December 1941.

from that moment, the girl had everything she ever asked for and more. he became her mother, her father, her brother, her friend. on her 16th birthday, he told her that she was born to do amazing things and that he would help her on her journey.

i don't know why, but i remember i used to HATE pizza. like so so much. to the extent that my parents used to bring a box of plain pasta with them to pizza restaurants so i could eat something. so strange.... i love pizza now. i am baffled by my own actions.

oh my god NOO !!! this year...i have felt so much happier. and like i can feel things now? i used to only cry when i got really really stressed or upset. and now it's like i am able can cry at anything lol (movies, people i see in the park, dogs that come up to me, songs, calling my mum, essays, anyone being nice to me etc.) hehehe soo much happier now omg <3 i do miss that feeling though of someone looking after you + like. getting to the end of a long school day + seeing my family + feeling all safe when i got home? i do miss that definitely xx

2. Do you know why you are named that?

A slightly amused, or perhaps exasperated, look flits across her face. “Would telling you that it means ‘strength’ and that’s why give you some manner of joy? My parents simply liked the name Valetyn.” 

3. Are you single or take?

At this a soft smile does spread across his face as he looks off to the side. “Taken; for at least seven years now I believe, right darling?” 

4. Have any abilities or powers?

“I have been told that I am an impeccable Cipher agent. While I am not sure I agree, I am not augmented in any way nor am I connected to the Force.” 

5. Stop being a Mary Sue.

He tilts his head to the side, an eyebrow arching dangerously. “Am I supposed to know what that means?” 

6. What’s your eye color?

7. How about your hair color?

“Dark brown, though it’s starting to get a little grey.” He grumbles, rolling his eyes at a gleefully clapping and a flirtatiously joking kiss blown from his wife. “Ten years as a cipher agent and my firstborn girls are probably to blame for that.” 

8. Have any family members?

“I’m very grateful to now have a large family of my own. Five children, a lovely wife. Six children if Belle would stop rolling her eyes like that, and her wife. My blood family...my sister’s family..” he trails off, looking content at the list. 

9. Oh? How about pets?

Almost on cue a very large, fluffy grey cat waltzes into the space, plume tail up in the air. He buts his head against Five’s knee. “My cat, Agent. My wife and I found him as a kitten in an alleyway in Kaas City. My wife thought it would be quite funny to refer to him as Agent, and it’s stuck.” 

10. That’s cool I guess.  Now tell me something you don’t like?

"You’ll find there are a great many things I am not endeared towards. However, for something mundane: I do not like the cold or the snow.” 

11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?

"I am a fan of history; much of my time is spent reading about it or exploring various locations relevant to it. Though I do love my fantasy books as well...I’m lucky to have my girls hooked on classic fantasy--they insist lately that I read it to them in my spare time. That’s better than anything.” 

12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?

His eyes narrow, chin tilting up. “More times than you’d probably like to know. Not always intentionally.” 

13. Ever… killed anyone before?

What had been a quietly happy expression at talk of history and his children hardens and chills. It seems for a moment like your looking at a different man. “You don’t have clean hands in my line of work.” 

14. What kind of animal are you?

"I insist he is like a cat!” his wife, a pretty and homely mirialan woman, breaks in. “If you’ve ever seen him with Agent...well, like pet like owner and vice versa I suppose.” 

15. Name your worst habits.

Five hesitates, looking around the room as if making sure little ears are not listening. “There was a long time, in the height of my career deployments, where I developed a reliance on adrenal stims to avoid sleep. While the stims have ceased, the avoidance has not.” 

16. Do you look up to anyone at all?

“Those I’ve looked up to in the past have long since passed.” He pauses, glancing off to the side again. “Unless, and this will make her roll her eyes, you count Nine--Belle--you don’t see what she’s gone through to come out on the other side and not look up to her.” Erabelle does in fact roll her eyes. 

17. Are you gay, straight or bisexual?

He is getting frustrated with your prying questions, it’s beginning to show in his face. “That is truly none of your business.” (he’s bi, surprising no one) 

18. Do you go to school?

“Your typical Dromund Kaas child’s education. I finished my higher education at the Imperial Intelligence Academy; earning my spot in Intelligence and a degree in history alongside.” 

19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?

"Well,” when he looks off to the side its with a smile. “I’ve done both and very happily so. However, I think five children are enough.” 

20. Do you have any fangirls/fanboys?

Five outright laughs at that. “I wouldn’t call them fans, but apparently my cipher agents became quite endeared with me. Though that may be because they found making rumors on my relationship status quite entertaining.” 

The young woman he calls Belle snorts. “I hate that you didn’t include me. You never let me live down that in my Academy days I was quite enamored with you as an agent.” 

21. What are you most afraid of?

“Being alone, losing my family. Losing myself. Not your typical spider and the dark fears.” 

22. What do you usually wear?

“While I’m sure Thea would love to regale you, she has described it as a “history college professor” mixed with “attractive, well dressed city man” depending on the day. I guess that covers it.” 

23. What one food that tempts you?

“I...” he pauses. “I don’t really think I have one.” 

24. Am I annoying to you?

His smile isn’t unfriendly, but it’s no longer totally amicable. “Would it make you feel better if I say no?” 

25. Well, it’s still not over!

You can practically hear an eye roll in his voice. “Wonderful.” 

26. What class are you (low/middle/high)?

“That is rather personal information to divulge. I would suppose that we are somewhere among the middle class; we’re certainty not among the Ethrils of Kaas City.” 

27. How many friends do you have?

"I had many in the Academy...many of them lost by now. I have my close circle now.” 

28. What are your thoughts on pie?

He looks mildly confused, if not irritated. “Pie? It’s alright, I suppose. I don’t have much an opinion on it.” 

29. Favorite drink?

“Tea, unsweetened, simply black--Belle don’t make that face at me, you drink what is more cream and sugar and whatever else than tea.” 

30. What’s your favorite place?

“A quiet back park in Kaas City, when it is misting out. Or here, when it is storming.” 

31. Are you interested in anyone?

“Only my wife, I would consider myself quite interested in her.” 

32. That was a stupid question…

He arches a brow, humming in displeasure. “Indeed it was.” 

33. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?

"A lake, if anything. Oceans are unpredictable. Lakes are not.”

34. What’s your type?

He looks off to the side, a mischievous look in his eyes. “Well, I think beautiful ex-SIS agents with an infuriating habit of matching my every move fits the type.”  

35. Any fetishes?

When he looks back at you he looks affronted. “Rather lewd a question, is it not? Certainty not something you will hear about.” 

(He prefers Thea to take control in spicy situations. Loves it actually.) 

36. Camping or outdoors?

Five narrows his eyes at you, thoroughly done with this questioning. “Those are one and the same, are they not? It depends on where I am.”

“Uncle Gabe,” Davie calls happily as he skips over, “papa said to ask you about Christmas and the best story ever! He said it’s your special story and it’s real ‘mportant and he was gonna bribe ya with this cocoa,” he finishes cheerfully, holding up an old style steel thermos. “He said he made it like you like an’ that I can have marshiemellows if you wanna make ‘em. Him an’ sissy are wrappin’ their last pressies, so he said it’s a real good time for me t’ask ya!”

Gabriel hums warmly, and smiles over his nephew’s head, the gold of his irises somehow far more pronounced on this hallowed evening.  

     “Your father’s a diplomat as always, but I don’t need bribin’.  Here.”

He pats a thigh and secures Davie there.  He smooths down his hair and kisses his temple, and summons a wing to tent them both.  

He begins to speak of the dirt-poor refugee girl, forgotten by her whole world, save the god who spawned life upon life upon life, and her life just the same as all the others.  The girl favored by the First Mother, to become mother to god’s Incarnate Self.  The great act of reconciliation between a broken, frightened, sick world and its immaculate Maker.  The diminishment of god that Humankind could increase. All through a brown girl. And Gabriel was the one privileged to ask that girl for the Greatest of Favors.  

His voice is still and small, because that was the way god first spoke to Humankind.  Always, always trying to meet Humankind halfway. Always.  Always missing and longing for the fruit of god’s womb.

He pauses only to sip his cocoa with many marshmallows, and marvel at all the small wonders Humankind has crafted since god walked among them for 33 brief years.  

He speaks then with radiance in his face and in his outstretched wing, of the breathless way he implored shepherds on a freezing early spring morning on a rocky outcropping, in a great field in Palestine, 

     Rejoice!  R e j o i c e  … .!  R e j o i c e !
