Today, it is indigenous people day.

This post won’t erase the hundreds even thousands to millions of years of pain and suffering. But...

I wanted to take a moment today to thank the indigenous people who showed kindness to the settlers. Those pilgrims who claimed they wanted a better life by being away from tyranny. However, it seems tyranny to others was considered appropriate in their morales. It was okay for the pilgrims to treat the indigenous people with death, disease and most importantly, disrespect.

History should be told with truth not with what a group of people or even a government wants people to know. Growing up, I believed that thanksgiving solved problems. Instead, it created problems for the indigenous people. Even to this day, they have been treated with so little respect.

So, as an American, I’m just taking a few moments out of my day to thank those who have helped. That their deaths will be remembered and not forgotten. The sad thing is, this story shouldn’t have been buried. It should have been known throughout the ages.

But in the age of technology and information at our finger tips, we owe it to ourselves to change things. That “it’s always been this way” is an excuse, not an answer.

So thank you to the indigenous people. I will do my best to make sure you know: you were the ones who helped usher in the world into change.

should i be mad and sad at myself for literally being horrible and not writing and essay and saying all about alexander hamilton and it not being that long cause i’m tried and i have to turn it next period and just finished my exam like i think it’s okay but also i’m sorry alexander hamilton would not be proud and probably yell at me but i do love writing i just am tired and such but he wrote like 53 pages for the federalist papers and now i feel i have failed him so i’m sorry but EXAMS KILL ME

Anon you should be proud of yourself. I’m proud of you. And Alexander Hamilton would be grinning from ear to ear to hear how you completed an essay and an exam in a short amount of time.

I know for a fact Alexander Hamilton would not scream at you, he would be proud of you that you wrote an essay after a stressful exam. That bitch would be 110% impressed with you—just as much as me. Anon, don’t be so hard on yourself. What matters is that you did it and you got it done. Do you know how hard it is to be a writer? I stare at the ceiling for hours trying to come up with ideas. Writing is hard.

Also Alexander Hamilton wrote 49 essays in six months but that’s because he had to deal with a bunch of dipshits who couldn’t write their name on snow let alone on paper. (Can you imagine if Ben Franklin wrote them? No offense to Ben but that bitch would put a dick joke in the papers....legit....) This bitch (Alexander Hamilton) also advocated for children to have childhood to enjoy for his own kids to have—that he was robbed of. He did want his kids to be well educated but not enough that it killed them. He wanted his children to succeed, not bleed.
