Okay SO. Fake-dating multichap begins with Apollo finally agreeing to go out to dinner with Klavier post-trial--except they get photographed by the paparazzi and the rumor mill goes wild, assuming they were on a date and hyping up the whole "rival attorneys-to-lovers" thing. Usually this would be easy to ignore and to clear up, but...

The thing is, Klavier's been struggling with how to break back into music as a solo artist, finding that nobody's taking much notice of him with the Gavinners' breakup being Old News by now. And this incident has put him back in the headlines, made people wonder "Hey, what is Klavier Gavin doing these days?" He's gotten requests for interviews, for photoshoots, for partnerships and album contracts. And Klavier's manager is really pushing for him to just say he's dating Apollo, if that's what the media wants.

But Klavier isn't going to just do that without Apollo's consent, without apologizing for the chaos and for the speculation, so he goes to say sorry and promise to clear everything up--

--only for Apollo to be the one to suggest that they pretend to date for a while so that Klavier can take advantage of all of the media attention and get his solo career off the ground.

(And then, obviously, they end up falling in love for real somewhere in the middle of it all, because that's how these things go)

Anyway this is going to be ten chapters as per my current outline, and I've got one and a half of them written, and I'm really hoping to be able to play into the aspects of fame, of lack of privacy, of Fan Reactions, and of doing things selflessly that you later realize might have been a little selfish all along

his love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation because they were often neglected by their parents as a child

he had an emo phase when they were in middle school and lowkey wants to gradually bring it back and with even more pizzazz

he's still mildly dysphoric about having long hair, but they want noah's mullet so he double conditions like gwen does (canon) because they think their hair can grow longer that way

okay so technically final girls have been around since the beginning of slashers, but the real first example, who many consider to be the origin of the tropes associated with them, is laurie strode. while there were examples before her like jess in black christmas and sally in tcm, laurie started the associations like virginity, being different from other much more horny teens, and the idea of fighting back in the 3rd act but still ultimately being rescued by another, typically male, authority.

other late 70s and very early 80s slashers, in an effort to capitalize on halloweens success, would copy these traits to "make their own laurie," with the most recognizable obviously being ft13, (though the first ones notable for other reasons such as the killer actually also being a woman, a crazed mother). exceptions like the alien series with ripley are sometimes argued to actually not be a final girl, due to her being written as a man/gender neutral in the script and not exhibiting any of these traits.

however, starting in the 80s with the likes of nancy in elm street and kirsty in hellraiser, survivors started to evolve past these semi damsel in distress roles. nancy is a great example, shes consistently running after freddy, not from, and while she doesnt sleep with her boyfriend in the movie its implied she does beforehand off screen. this is due to audiences catching on, and getting sick of characters who would only run away from danger and not fight back consistently. these girls are still fairly often rescued at the end by authority, but its not as jarring of a rescue as before.

THEN, in the 90s, scream while rejuvenating the genre as a whole, also resurrected the final girl trope with sidney, but flipped it on its head instead of played it straight. sidney kills ghostface herself, in fact kills the boyfriend who in a different film would have been her savior. shes loses her virginity on screen and survives. her entire arc is a deconstruction of the trope (i mean of course it is. its scream.) and her version of the final girl is typically the one parodied in later films.

obviously theres overlap and exceptions, like i know what you did last summer came out 2 years after scream and its final girl is pathetic lmao. but these are broadstrokes noticable in the first few decades of slashers and its one of my favorite things <3
