ok so idk about Magnum Opus but . you can hear it in the silence is probably the most personal fic i have ever written and the closest to a magnum opus i’ll ever get bc 1. i relate so deeply to mike wheeler as is and this was kind of how i interpreted his struggle w his identity and coming into himself just as a teenager navigating that weird place between high school and college and figuring out your interests and who u are,, and 2. full disclosure bc we’re all Friends here i Did write this fic right after a long distance relationship ended earlier in the summer which definitely influenced my decision to write it in the first place and 3. idk! there were so many aspects of this fic that were just me projecting, like mike getting the older sister mentor figure he deserves (i love nancy but she is Not the greatest older sister ok) and learning to take his time w things when you feel like u dont have enough of it,, anyways i would say this fic is probably my Favorite ive written ! it’s rly hard for me to reread my works but this one ive read back a few times and i actually. enjoy it?

i might be hoping about this is also rly special to me because IDK i just want what they have in this fic so bad dsdfjsdfj like. tender intimacy w someone who knows u better than u know urself! never having to feel like a burden to someone who loves u because they r happy to take care of u even when u can’t do the same,, idk i just think will byers deserves everything good in the world, and i really liked exploring his relationship to illness/his past trauma in this fic, especially since it was my first time writing established relationship! i Did have to step away from my laptop multiple times while writing this to scream into my pillow (literally im not exaggerating guys) because it was just so soft! and i felt so Lonely! anyways this is also a very special fic to me ik im literally the one who wrote it but GODDAMN i made myself sad.

tumblr tips & things!

after growing rlly fast, i just wanted to provide some maybe helpful tips + things you could do if you’re a smaller blog! i am in no means an expert, I am still learning but this is what i’ve learned, specifically abt the mcyt tumblr community

disclaimer you DO NOT have to follow these, these are what ive learned and my opinion, but i think most writers can agree on this

its a lot of info im sorry ajdba but feel free to reblog and add ur own info!

1. tags!

theyre superrr important if you want exposure for your works + writing pieces, just make sure to tag accordingly

meaning: do not cross tag, or main tag, (ex do not tag just dream alone) keep ‘x reader’ content under the ‘x reader tags’

^people get uncomfortable with x readers and sometimes they slip through the filtered tags

my go-tos for tags are mcyt or cc name then the following prefixes- x reader, x y/n, x you, fanfic, fanfiction

if you have a fic for dream, DO NOT TAG george, it makes it confusing

also tags for ur random posts r super helpful because if someone doesnt want to see it, they can filter it out (my talking tag is basilly blabs)

adding a tag for the ppl you interact for! i like doing this cuz i can easily search a tag on my blog to see my prev interactions w/ them (ex. if i interact w/ userA then i tag userA’s username)

2. create some sort of brand

of course u can switch it up, but using ur own theme makes ur work recognizable to others

like mine is my banner- i use it on every of my works + important posts, so ppl can recognize me

banners can be found on the internet or twitter (but pls credit the artist w/ permission) i found mine on google

for super thin page dividers, i use ibis paint (mobile app) and made a super thin canvas (3405x57) and filled it w/ my theme color

3. plspls dont beat yourself up for rejecting requests or feeling uncomfortable

you are not forced to write requests, if they make you feel uncomfortable you can decline

also if you’re not happy with the work, you can spend the time to revise + edit, we will wait for work you are happy with!

+ if you are stuck with some details on writing smth, ask a mutual or others! more brains and more ideas!

4. same goes for writers block & health issues

we all get it sometimes, no one is pressuring you and if they are, its your blog, you decide. and your health matters more

5. the mcyt tumblr community is SUPER NICE

if u wanna be moots aka mutuals (follow each other) literally shoot them any message and they’ll respond so kindly

ive talked to so many incredible moots who I absolutely adore theyre so kind

also interacting w/ moots: they can reblog your work, creating exposure but do not expect reblogs, and same to you we are not expected to reblog

6. please check a cc’s boundaries before writing

@/smp-boundaries has a majority listed, and if not, ask!

7. if u have any questions, just ask!

lots of ppl will not even mind that much, like i said theyre super kind

8. navigation + masterlists!!

super important for everyone to see your rules, works, all put into one spot, it makes it 10x easier

9. backup ur works + asks

tumblr can be glitchy so its always helpful to back up works on google docs or smth similar

having ur whole fic deleted is not fun and demotivating

asks can be backed up by sending them to ur linked email- this has helped loads for me

10. dont worry too much abt likes + follows

all blogs start out small and as you go and keep persisting, ppl will start noticing + following, its all abt perseverance + trust the process

even when fics r rllllyy good, tumblr has its own bad days and u get low notes- dont let this discourage you

11. anonymous asks!

some ppl get nervous and request on anon! personally think theres more requests that way

12. small text or read mores!

internet is a great help w/ this and itll give you guides and step by step instructions

mobile also is a lot harder to make an aesthetic blog, so a laptop or pc or chromebook is super helpful

13. for max notes, post at ‘prime times’

i think the queue tells u when the prime time is to post for ur time zone, but also a google search is super helpful

or, guess and check! trial and error- i did this and found the best time to post for me

once you find it, you can schedule or queue your work so it posts for you!

14. if there’s sensitive topics pls add TW and CW

as writers yes we try to cover some topics that ppl request but we dont want to trigger others, so at the top include TW// (trigger warning) or CW// (content warning) and add a cut or read more

do not put CW or TW on content creators- no matter how bad they are, its rude and dehumanizing

15. Formatting is SUPER important!

if you do not separate your lines of dialogue or paragraphs, chances are people WILL skip over it. it makes it hard to read and sometimes it is’t worth people’s time

rule of thumb is make a new paragraph every time someone speaks and indicate who is talking or make is distinguishable!

if your fic is over 500 words, id add a cut as well! if you dont know how:

on mobile: type :readmore: in a new paragraph and hit enter w/out a space after the readmore

pc/laptop: new paragraph, three dots far right

Smut also def has its own set of rules but i am not a nsfw blog- main things i can say is please add cuts and check for cc’s boundaries

not everyone’s experiences are the same but this is whats worked and happened for me and what i found to be useful, i hope this helps you as well, if it doesnt, thats fine too!

On the outside I'd say I'm fairly organized, I keep my room clean and all of that, I'm a lil bit of a perfectionist but mentally I'm all over the place. I'm also that kind of person that listens to a new song they like on repeat until they hate it. Speaking of music, I can't say I have a taste lol. My fave genres are rock, pop and indie but I hear smth I like, I listen to it, whether its "high quality" music, basic or weird. I like expressing myself through writing, singing and dancing but I really can't say I'm talented at either of those, it's all in good fun. I also enjoy reading (fiction, non-fic books bore me like hell; my fave genres are fantasy, sci fi and crime) but I haaate literature in school. I'm actually a bit of a math nerd and this year I'm starting uni, studying computer science!! Oh! I've also taken drama classes for 2 years (despite the fear I loved being on stage and plan on starting again once I'm done w the baccalaureate), I love playing D&D and while I woulnd't quite call myself a gamer, I love role playing video games. I'm also almost always down for any kind of multiplayer video games w friends although I have no experience

I'm not a sportive person, I go on walks or do a few exercises every now and then at home but I'm willing to try stuff out like a new sport or going to the gym w an s/o. I do plan on starting self defense classes soon and maybe taking up sword fighting (I love swords hehe)

Tbh I've never been in a relationship so I'm not really sure how I would act w an s/o, nor what I'm exactly looking for. I best express my affection through physical touch tho and that includes my friends so I'd like someone who isn't bothered or can get used to that (s/o would still receive the most hugs/ cuddles etc). I'm not that comfortable w the other love languages for friends and family, but I think I'd be a lot more eager to express my love through them for s/o. I tend to isolate when I'm really really upset about something so I need a lil bit of pushing to talk abt it; I'm open to talk abt my feelings but I need the verbal confirmation that they care and wanna help, its not just cause they're being nice

i enjoyed your writing very much because you use such colorful words🥺💗 but ig i did encounter some confusing parts in the dialogues since you've put two in a paragraph, i had to pause and retrace back. AAAAAAA im so glad i brought smth new to the table to you, tho i must admit its not so much of an original idea since its heavily based on an existing cartoon series but i did make a lot of tweaks in the story/world building to make it a lot more suspenseful in a way (ever after high is more of a childrens show so the concept was approached more lightheartedly) /// and totally kinda dystopian but i didnt know if it was dystopian enough for me to add it to the genre tags so just kinda let it be lol

and yes!! i actually have a whole thing planned for jisung (like his pov on stuff) cz he also has a love interest mentioned in minho's fic tho its just like a small mention during the lake scene,, but there was def meaning behind it + me mentioning his character's crush on pinocchio's daughter 👀👀 i originally made it just so i could have more backstory to base on and make his role in the story more justified in a way but another reader encouraged me to make it too so i will soon <3

if i can think of other stories to do with the other members i might make one for all of them, but so far i only have jisung's planned so maybe like a side by side kinda thing

hey anon, im not sure if u wanted a tutorial or just a general answer but heres a list of what i use to make gifs:

the comp i use is a macbook pro (which i rly shouldn't be making gifs on bc it's too old and one day it's just going to...give up on me but at this point im too attached to it :( if i could get new comp in the future though, i'd get a windows one since apple purposely slows down their products as it ages... the lag that comes w it is a real goddamn btch of an unsatisfactory situation when making gifs)

firstly i use avisynth to start the gifmaking process

brandinator, god of avisynth has a tutorial [here] on how to install for windows

unfortunately for the mac tutorial that i used to install avisynth, the op blindkpop (bless them i hope they are doing well) deactivated their blog and i can't remember the steps on how to install it (but if i find smth in the future ill let u know)

i recommend learning how to make a gif on photoshop first before learning avisynth

after avisynth, i use photoshop cs6 and topaz

i'll link u to some recent-ish tutorials on how to install and download photoshop but im sorry i can't confirm that these work and install alright bc the photoshop i hav rn was from a few years ago (and my university gave it to me)

i always download from the most original source at greater than or at least 720p resolution (youtube, v live, naver etc) or i get them from mx dvds

for youtube: i use [4k video downloader] which is available for both mac and windows

i try to avoid using .ts files for performance gifs bc it lags my computer but if i do use them, they are either from [monsta_x_mas], [kpopexciting] or [kpop24hours]

if u wanted a tutorial on how i actually make gifs, pls let me know and ill try my best to make one for u but it would be for a mac (my free time is limited atm so it'll take some time for me to write it up though) pretty much all of the things i know abt making gifs are from others' tutorials on how they make gifs..i know nothing and im only able to make gifs thanks to them :( [yeahps] has a lot of tutorials for making gifs which helped me a lot !

also, can we talk abt that one book called Agramont?? it’s a funny story... not the book itself, obviously, it’s fucking awful. but y’know?? the context of its release feels funny to me. basically, there was that one girl and her name was Valerie. and it’s said that she’s always been dreaming of being a famous writer so one day she sat down and wrote ‘these vivid images’ that appeared in her head. she ‘was so inspired’ that she finished writing the book in abt 1.5 weeks or so and then she told her family smth like ‘look at this story, guys, i wrote it and i feel inspired and proud and blessed, we should try publishing it!!‘ everyone in her family was naturally v proud and stuff, so they searched for a publication that was willing to release Valerie’s writing and they found it. (if you’re wondering what does all of this has to do w/ zelda, you’ll find out soon) it was published under the name ‘Agramont‘ and iirc it received a ton of positive reviews (esp since Valerie was like 14 when she wrote it, so everyone was praising her even more for her talent developing at such a young age), so everything was going super well for her family. that is, until a Gamer(tm) read it and rightfully debunked it.... because it’s LITERALLY THE PLOT OF OCARINA OF TIME RETOLD ALMOST WORD-FOR-WORD (except all of the names were changed, obviously — i.e. Link became Alin and Saria became Salia. ew.) I’ve tried reading it, Goddesses know I did. I don't think I was ever able to reach the 30th page, I just straight up died of disgust on the spot. however, a few months ago I found an old 2010 magazine that had featured Valerie in one of the articles and iirc she said smth like ‘I do not understand the gamers’ outrage, no matter what, it’s still a book I wrote myself. also I’m planning a sequel‘ ...good thing that sequel never saw the light of day then. I bet it’d be abt MM if it did... I’ve heard of something similar happening with a book called The Silent Hero somewhere in America and I’m kiiiinda curious to see how that went down but at the same time??? just no.

it's almost 3am but i barely feel sleepy enough to go to sleep + not awake enough to get up on the laptop and doodle for a bit

- the new ovw short + people talking abt the matching names d//mon and d//va; for some reason i emphasize the 'mon' and the 'va' now so it doesn't even sound like demon/ diva, it's just deeMon/ deeVah

- i had trouble spelling the words 'soul' and 'emphasize' so far in making this post

- being in that weird void of not having this thing to obsess about is so gotdang boring

- speaking of old things i used to be in (i'm gonna look like those emo scene kids in 2008 or whatever) god TOP's old songs are rly good, and i remember finding them during one summer night at like. 5am. finding tracklists and one of them was a playlist to get your feelings out or smth? and i remember being in a complete low pit all year, and holding onto you was one of the songs in the list and i remember crying when i heard it and listening to the song over and over bc it had this kind of emotion i wanted to scream out too. not a big fan of the recent songs, but literally all the songs before those like. helped me. god i probably sound stupid saying this but top really did help me vent out a lot of pent up emotion inside of me

- reasons why holding onto you holds a special place for me, i think it's one of those songs where you sorta put on blast and scream along to just toget things off your chest

- there was also a playlist for feeling dysphoric or smth similar (this was when i saw myself as agender) and it wasn't that bad. i remember hearing this one song tho... it was really good but the lyrics sounded creepy, but it had meaning behind them...? i don't remember anything else other than finding it in a playlist

- i also listened to a bunch of gay related playlists bc i think that was also when i was finding more labels to try out

- also. vocaloid songs is still so good

- also, i need/ want more song recommendations bc i've been listening to a bunch of songs on repeatedly everyday and i'm losing my mind
