Nighttime had fallen upon the kingdom of Gentlehaven. The guards were closing the castle gates for the night, the people within the town had all dimmed their lights and gone into their homes, and even most of the animals had decided to call it a day.

However, that didn't mean everyone was asleep.

Some lights were on in the castle, particularly up in one of its towers-- In the bedroom within that tower, Kloi was on her bed, reading a book. Powder, meanwhile, was monitoring the time, as it was nearing the time for both of them to be going to bed soon. It seemed to be a normal night, up until...

The two of them were alerted by a sound out in the hallway. The duo froze; had something happened out there? Did a guard knock something over? Normally one would leave it alone and instead go to bed, but Kloi, the ever curious girl, decided to investigate. After all, it could just be nothing.

Leaving her room, Kloi walked out into the hallway, wand in hand to illuminate the darkness by a little bit, with Powder fluttering by her side. The hallways, despite being a part of her home, now felt so unfamiliar, gloomy and creepy under the cover of night. And...

"Brrr... w-was it always this cold in here?"

Within five minutes of leaving her room, Kloi felt herself shivering as she and Powder looked for any source of what that noise could be, unaware of the third presence hanging over the hall....
