Hey! I saw your requests were open! Could we have some cute Mike fluff of taking Abby back to school shopping and struggling to help choose outfits for her? Probably would include being silently discouraged by the prices of the nice clothes but trying to get her something nice anyway? This can either be just Mike and Abby, or include a y/n girlfriend, I’m not picky. Thanks!

"How about this one?" Abby pointed, eyes fixed on a colorful binder paired up with a neat pack of coloring supplies. Before Mike could open his mouth, she was already tailing it forward. An exhausted breath left his lips instead, but he couldn't help but chuckle softly at her enthusiasm. He missed when he was that way. It brought him closure to see Abby running around all excited, and he was going to nurture it as much as he could.
Mike gasped quietly when you lightly nudged his shoulder playfully. "Earth to Michael," you joked. Mike eased, folding his arms and shyly looking away. "Sorry, just thinking." Mike's eyes promptly shifted towards Abby, who was stirring about like she was in a candy store. Your voice softened, "About her?"
"Yeah. It's just nice to see her so happy. Especially after, well," he trailed off. "I'm just glad she's doing okay."
You caressed his face with a smile, and he quickly placed a hand on yours, obviously savoring the moment. His eyes closed in comfort.
"Mike, can I get this?" Abby asked. His eyes flickered open. "Oh?" He lowered himself down to get to her level. Something you had always found cute.
She extended her hand on a sparkly-colorful outfit, its lower half dragging against the floor. Mike hummed and pulled out the tag, and frowned. Which caught into you as well.
"Mike?"
"Hey, how about you keep looking for some more supplies. That way, when I get the cart, we can just pile everything up and get out of here quicker." He continued, "And you'll be able to use your color pencils quicker too."
Abby smiled, "Really?" Mike nodded quietly and ruffled her hair a bit. She turned back and disappeared down the aisle. Mike's eyes were following her the entire way, he wouldn't let her out of his sight.
Mike stood up, face low with defeat. "Nearly fifty bucks. I don't think I can afford it, but-"
You finished, "You don't want to tell her?" And he nodded.
"Look, I can put in a few bucks, Mike. I shouldn't let you pay for everything." You told him, arms wrapped around his shoulders. Mike weakly protested, "I can't let you do that. You've done so much, I don't want to take your money."
"Mike, I want to. I love the kid, and you've been working hard." You kissed his cheek lightly. Which made him bashful in record pace, "Are you sure?"
"Definitely."
Once Abby returned, you had decided to spend more of what you intended. As much as Mike protested, you insisted that it was all for Abby. Besides, it brought him incredible joy to see Abby trying on new sweaters and accessories she adored. That was convincing enough to let you gather a few more pieces of her new wardrobe and leave the store with a heartfelt attitude.
Abby had been holding your hand the whole time. She was definitely giddy, but she was quiet too. Which brought Mike to gently remind her, "Don't you have something to say, Abbs?"
"Oh, right! Thank you so, so, so much!" Abby said childishly. "I'm going to try all of these when I get home. My friends will love this."
"I'm sure they will." You replied with a grin. Which made you turn to Mike with a softened expression, silently mouthing an: "I love you" before driving home to spend time with Abby one last time before her new year of school.

Groceries, Taxes, & Laundry (MSchmidt Fluff)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey guys, it's me. i'm finally back. did y'all miss me? the writing of this is a lil diff, sooooo please enjoy and lmk what you think!
content: pure fluff yall.
-----------------------------
Grocery shopping with Mike Schmidt is… special, to say the least. He absolutely despises it. The dreaded time comes around at the end of every week, your vegetables in the fridge starting to wilt, the meat from the previous trip used up, and all of your snacks have been devoured from late night munchie runs to the pantry (xoxo i love gardening!!!). He knows it has to happen. He knows you’ll wake him up early on Sunday morning like always, because apparently it’s “better to get it out of the way,” which he thinks is, well, to put it lightly, utter bullcrap.
You’ll drag him and Abby out to your local grocery store, her drowsy and jittery all at the same time with the promise of pancakes from a local diner after. Once you arrive, you’ll pull out all of the far-too-expensive reusable bags out of the trunk of Mike’s dingy car, ready to fill them with the necessities. Why get those for 3 bucks when you can get the plastic ones for free? He’ll never understand your logic, something about saving the environment, but it’s okay, he loves you enough not to complain, at least out loud.
The fluorescent lights of the room filled with half asleep employees hits Mike’s eyes like he’s looking directly into the sun. He lets out a small grumbled sigh as he takes in the scent of sterile cleaning supplies and produce mixed in one, with the strange almost play doh like smell of the bakery. Your eyes cut over to him, eyebrows raised, Abby’s hand in yours as she rubs her droopy eyes. Mike can’t help but to crack a small smirk, his lips pursed together. “What?” he’ll question innocently, letting out a small snicker as you go deeper into the dreary establishment.
At the produce aisle, Mike shivers a little as the water from the misting sprinkler on the shelves hits his bare skin. He should’ve worn his jacket today, he usually does, and he’s regretting the one time he hasn’t. Your eyes are glancing over carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, and squash, all that are somehow both too ripe and too.. What's the word... unripe? Sure, he’ll go with that. His hand reaches out to grip yours in a gentle grasp as Abby points to a particularly fluffy bushel of broccoli. “I want that one! It looks like pretty trees,” she giggles out, finally starting to wake with the day. You let out a giggle of your own and Mike smiles because of how pretty your laugh is.
Next, you’re in the snack aisle, filling the cart with doritos, barbeque chips, pringles, salt and vinegar chips (mike gags when you eat them too close to him), peanut butter filled pretzels, whatever can go in Abby’s lunch box and whatever is tastiest. Mike insists on buying the cheap queso, his nose scrunching up at the price of the name brand one. He knows it doesn’t taste any different.
Now you’re looking at meats, finding chicken breasts and filets, steaks, pork, whatever was on your list from meal prepping. Yes, meal prepping, Mike did that now. Apparently stable people with stable lives who had stable relationships did that. He’d grown fond of sitting over a recipe book with you on Saturday nights, really, shoulder to shoulder, pressed up on the couch well after Abby had gone to bed. Something about it felt safe, a kind of domestic feeling he wasn’t used to.
You’re basically done now, and he couldn’t be more relieved as you make your way towards the dairy section. He grabs a few things, string cheese, yogurt, cream cheese, cheese slices for sandwiches for work. Oh, did he mention he works in construction now? It’s stable, makes good money, and he’s home on time to see you, to be a husband-not-yet-husband (he plans to propose soon, but that’s another story), a brother-more-like-a-father, a person with a regular schedule. He looks over at you, watching as you and Abby skim over the different selections of chocolate and strawberry milk, finally settling on a carton of strawberry. He once again scrunches his nose, smiling all at once. “Nasty,” he mumbles out. Abby playfully hits his arm and you lean in for a kiss.
Finally, thank god, you push the cart towards the bakery section, grabbing bread and a sweet treat or two for the week. Cookies, a birthday cake for no particular reason, cheese danishes, whatever his little family was feeling for the week, that’s what it’d be. This week, it was a huge box of chocolate chip cookies and some kind of cherry pastry he’d never had before. You three finally head to checkout, where everything is stuck in those stupid reusable bags and the price of everything you got feels obscenely huge for what’s in your cart, but he pays it anyway. Walking to the car, in the trunk the groceries go as you all climb in one by one, ready to head for pancakes.
As he reverses the car out of his good (only because it was so goddamn early) parking spot, he can’t help but sigh, this time with contentment as Abby rambles on about a new imaginary (hopefully) friend, your own grin wide as you ask questions, making sure she feels heard. “I love you guys, love doing things with you guys,” Mike mumbles out, reaching his hand over to your thigh as he glances back at Abby too. And it was true, he’d do anything with you two. Hell, if all his life consisted of grocery shopping, taxes, and laundry? Yeah, he’d be ok with that too.

Fun little fact about breaking points/ key moments that are either the end of Bucks relationships or the moment something happens that sets their demise in motion - Buck wears dark green
Abby leaves - dark green plaid shirt
Tumblr media
Buck moves into Maddies after he has accepted his break up with Abby (technically this is a bit later as he has moved into Chims and this is him being kicked out of Chims, but it all plays into the same concept!) and the uses of plaid here is also a bit of a nod to that airport costume in my opinion.
Tumblr media
Ali breaks up with him
Tumblr media
Buck tells taylor he kissed Lucy
Tumblr media
Buck ends things with Taylor
Tumblr media
I've included this because it felt like a break up of an aspect of Buck and Eddies relationship at this moment - as well as the moment when Buck was being delusional about Natalia and her seeing him. its also the scene where we get the line about not dating people you meet on the job - which feels like foreshadowing for the Buck and Natalia relationship
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now we have this still - I thought it was a green toned black shirt - and it might very well still be, I won't know for sure until we see the scene play out, -but now I'm looking at it on my proper computer screen and not my phone screen at 4am, its looking much more dark green to me and therefore potentially fits into the Buck relationship costume colour way - black with a dark green top layer.
So if this does in fact turn out to be dark green - it either means one of three things - this is connected to a Buck/Natalia break up in some way, or we're going to see some drama and divorce era 2.0 for Buck and Eddies relationship, or this is a scene where we see Buck and Eddie grow closer together.
I tend more towards it being a Buck/Natalia break up related scene which actually doesn't preclude it from also pushing Buck and Eddie closer together! The reason I say that the dark green could be a sign of them growing closer is becuase aside from all the outfits above, there are only two other instances of Buck wearing a dark green - the olive green jumper he wears in 3x11 - the This is Eddies house I'm not really a guest scene,
Tumblr media
and then the following episode when they take Chris skateboarding.
Tumblr media
both scenes that establish Bucks place in the Diaz boy's life and as part of hte Buckley Diaz family!!

I've seen so much discourse about Bucktommy and especially Tommy and it is so wild. I just want to write down some of my thoughts over all of it because that tends to help me to stop thinking about it.
"Oh, how can anyone just abandon Buddie for Bucktommy?"
Has anyone really abandoned Buddie, though? Or are they just for the moment very excited about a new and so very carefully portrait queer story line? Just because some people talk more (or for the moment only) about Bucktommy, doesn't mean they don't like Buddie anymore. They just have something shiny and most importantly canon to fawn over for the moment.
Also, I'd like to give that question back: Why aren't you all excited for a carefully and softly portrait new queer storyline about a character a huge part of the fandom—including the actor himself—hoped for years would get a queer story line?
And it's a pretty unique queer story. Of course, we had Michael figuring out his sexualtiy and growing comfortable in it right at the beginning of the series. But there are some huge differences between Michael's story and Buck's story.
For one, we ended up in the middle of that story. Michael had already done a huge part of the work of getting to know himself. He was ready to live as a gay man. And second, nothing of what we saw until season 3 was from Michael's point of view. It was all from Athena's point of view.
So it was a "coming-out late in life" story line, sure. But it was a queer storyline from a straight perspective. And in some instances, from a very hurt perspective about it all (which are, of course, very valid emotions for Athena, May, and Harry, but it still gave the queer side of the story line a certain taint). And they did that beautifully, too, no doubt. I especially liked that the family didn't break over it, that they grew with that experience, and that Michael and Athena became great friends over the years.
But now we also have a "coming-out late in life" story line from the queer perspective! 9-1-1 is pretty much the only series I'm following right now, so I have no idea if we had something similar recently. But from all the talk I've seen, it's pretty damn unique, especially for a male bi character. So, of course a lot of people are super excited about it. Because it's honest and good representation that the writers and the actors are handling with a lot of care.
"Oh, if it were a female love interest, you'd all hate her again!"
First of all, go back read that paragraph about many people being excited about getting a queer story line again! I think that's about 40% of the answer for everyone wondering about it.
And then, of course, Tommy has now already more depth and character and background than we ever saw about Ali or Natalia. And despite some people claiming he didn't have any kind of redemption arc, he truly had a lot more of a redemption arc than Taylor ever got even if only glimpses of it were ever shown on screen. (Maybe I'll get into my thoughts about that in another post.) Not gonna talk about Abby, because I think most of the dislike for her came long after that relationship was over after she ghosted Buck (and after Eddie had shown up).
One huge difference between every love interest of Buck or Eddie we have seen in the past to Tommy is also, that Tommy gets along really well with Eddie. We've already seen a friendship develop there. That never happened with any of the women either Eddie or Buck dated before. We saw that one dinner Buck and Taylor had with Eddie and Chris, but it was very clear it was the first time, and that was over half a year into Buck and Taylor dating, probably more like nine months.
If you wear slash googles around Buck and Eddie or not, their deep friendship is undeniable. It's very much canon that they both have a hand in raising Chris. Any love interest coming in has to deal with that, and has to somehow fit into that friendship. Tommy is the very first love interest in canon we have ever been shown to have that potential at all.
I'm personally part of the fandom that thinks that Buck and Eddie have great potential in a romantic way, BUT that they are first and foremost soulmates, no matter if platonic or romantic. And at least the Bucktommy fics I've read so far have all acknowledge the friendship of buck and Eddie and Chris' role in Buck's life. With Tommy being very accepting and supportive of it. (Though, I admit I’m very careful in my selection process.)
"Oh, Bucktommy is only a steppingstone for Buddie anyway! Don't get so invested in it!"
Who are you tell anyone what they should get invested in? I also think, with the excitement right now, even if Bucktommy break up, the ship itself will live on in fandom.
And also, didn't any of you learn out of the cheating story line they settled Hen and Karen with?
There is barely any content for Henren*. And I've been looking! Most stories they are tagged in don't really focus on their relationship. And those who do focus on their relationship get barely any attention. And you know why that is? Because a lot of people can't or don't want to deal with the cheating. (I deal with it by trying to ignore it or seeking out content where it's fixed!) Do you all really want to have a second queer story line that centers around cheating?
And even if none of you care for Henren (which... I know many don't *shrugs sadly*), have you all already forgotten the real pain over Buck kissing Lucy and then not fessing up to Taylor about it right away? (Once again, I deal by either ignoring it or seeking out content that fixes that bullshit.)
I'm honestly pretty disgusted by all the speculation about 7x06 that has anything to do with Buck and Eddie cheating on Tommy and Marisol during the bachelor party. And even more so about all the fics one can find about that, or that use Tommy as a device for Buck and Eddie realizing they are in love. (Honestly, even filtering out the other relationship tag while looking for stories in one relationship tag doesn't prevent one from stumbling over those stories right now, no matter if one is currently looking for Buck/Tommy or Buck/Eddie stories. It's so fucking annoying. I've turned to only reading old Buddie fics for the moment.)
Aside from the whole cheating of it all, why do any of you think the next episode will focus on anyone else but Maddie and Chim?
"Bucktommy is so racist! But really, no surprise in this fandom!"
What's no surprise is that "racist" is once more used as a buzzword in this fandom. To the point that BiPOC fans of Bucktommy are being told they are racist for the ship they like. (Nothing new about that in this fandom either.) Honestly, half the arguments about why the ship is oh so racist either make my head hurt while I try to follow the many, many, many mental loops people are making to get there, or they just make me laugh outright.
Do some of you really believe it when you say "Buck got together with a White man instead of his Latino best friend, so of course that's racist!"??? I'm just... Are you okay? Do you maybe need something warm to drink, a snack, and a nice place somewhere in the sun far away from the internet to just enjoy nature for a little while?
As I said, I'll probably make another post about Tommy's redemption arc over the whole "He is an unrepentant racist and misogynist". That redemption arc exists and has been baked in since season 2 (even if some of people clearly lack the media literacy to see it). Though, other people already put together great meta posts about this. But maybe if there are enough of it, some people will for once acutally read and start to think instead of continuing to spew their hate.
*PS: If anyone has good Henren contant, especially fanfiction, feel free to drop me a DM. I'm always looking!

for Bucktommy (not pressure) "He makes me feel like I'm flying" <3333
Yes this is BuckTommy. Yes I only offered it super secretly to my wife because I’m a sap for her. No I will not be taking questions at this time. OK LET’S GO
The thing is, Buck knows this feeling. At least he thought he did. He realizes, as Tommy pulls up to his building and opens the car door for him before Buck even has his seatbelt off, he only knew a version of it before. With Abby and Taylor. Maybe even a little with Natalia. But this is… different.
It’s not a ‘first grown up’ love or a ‘don’t leave me’ love. Because it’s simultaneously grounding and unsettling. Just like that first kiss, it spins his entire world on its axis. He wants to shout it from the rooftops and hoard it to himself. This could really be something. Something that lasts. And not just because Buck is too scared of being alone, but because it’s right and he’s ready. It feels like it’s finally his turn.
“Evan?” Tommy threads their fingers together as they walk down the hall towards Buck’s apartment. “You’re doing that… smiley heart eyes thing. What are you up to?”
Buck blushes and ducks his head, happy and content and elated, the same way he does every time his boyfriend (his boyfriend!) notices something about him. He’s sure if there was music playing he’d hear Taylor Swift’s voice singing ‘I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home’.
They make it inside the loft and Buck cups Tommy’s cheeks in his hands while Tommy settles his own on Buck’s waist. He doesn’t want to say the words yet, further proof that what he feels is real. So he presses a chaste kiss to Tommy’s lips before resting their foreheads together.
“It’s nothing.” It’s everything. “I’ll tell you soon. Promise.”

Everyone’s losing it over Tommy potentially being at the bachelor party and I’m just here like it’s a good thing either way?? Like we get some super cute buck tommy scenes and we get buck and eddie being chaotic besties together and just living their bestest life. I know a lot of ppl were hoping for something to go down between buck and eddie or for them to think something happen to lead to feelings realization and maybe tommy being there hinders that in their minds idk? Personally I never held the assumption that anything romantic or explicitly suggestive would be occurring between buddie given that this is an episode about madney and delving into buddie non platonically needs to be a separate thing. But anyway, while I want em to get together eventually, I don’t want it to be like this personally and especially just as buck and tommy are building their relationship and buck is figuring out his sexuality it’s just icky and we’re talking about buck being on a hamster wheel, starting their relationship like that sure as hell wouldn’t get him “off” the hamster wheel
Man, I have such a big gripe with this idea that Buck hasn't gotten off of the hamster wheel yet. I know that's not the point of your message, necessarily—and I do get it, and agree totally with what you're saying—but I'm curious as to what it is that people want Buck to do to get "off" the hamster wheel if, in their opinion, he's still on it. I mean, perhaps it all comes down to the way we read and interpret these characters, and if that's the case, that's fine. But a fundamental aspect of Buck's arc is that something has been missing in his life and he's been chasing that unnameable thing for years. Part of it was the Daniel thing, sure, but part of it was also something intrinsic to him. Buck has been searching for all the pieces to his puzzle in all the wrong people (Abby, Ali, Taylor, etc) and kissing Tommy, awakening to his bisexuality, was that thing finally clicking into place (hence the double entendre "I am free" that everyone glosses over). So I'm just confused as to what else people would like for him to do.
One of the points I've seen people make is that Buck asked Tommy to go to the wedding with him, and, like. Respectfully (/srs)... so what? Lol. Buck is still Buck. Being bisexual and having a crush on a man isn't going to change that. He's always going to jump in headfirst to everything he does. Another point I've seen is that, he needed Eddie to tell him to call Tommy, which I don't really get either. Mainly because I understood exactly where Buck was coming from. If I thought I blew my chances with a hot guy I had a crush on, I would probably need my best friend to tell me not to catastrophize and give the whole thing another chance too. Sometimes you need those kind of pep talks and that's okay! Anyway, I just think that expecting immediate growth just to justify that Buck has broken that pattern, when it's pretty obvious that he has—or is at least well on his way—seems a little... something. I can't put my finger on the word, but I find it irksome nonetheless. Again, it probably has to do with how we're all reading/interpreting the character which is why I haven't said anything, but since you mentioned it, I figured now was my one and only chance to talk about it before I go back to yapping in my friends' DMs lol.
Anyways. Tommy at the Bachelor party. Yeah, I mean. I think it'd be a shame to have any "big" Buddie moment at Madney's wedding/during their wedding episode anyway because it'll immediately overshadow Maddie and Chimney's day, and I don't want that! 9-1-1 is an ensemble for a reason; we can give Maddie and Chimney one day out of the season, like. It's literally fine lol.

Fuck it Friday
Tagged by @daffi-990 @transboybuckley @devirnis @fortheloveofbuddie @callmenewbie @giddyupbuck @jamespearce9-1-1 thank you💙💙💙
This week my brain concentrates on this secret angst fic I can't stop writing in the 🚌 :
Eddie feels like his own heart breaks before he says the words, burning his insides before he says them. He knows it's a bullet for both their hearts they might never recover from, but when they are out it looks like something more murderous. Like a tsunami that kills and breaks everyone and everything with its power, a tsunami that they both barely survived. Or the wildfire, destroying every little thing that can burn. They both are destroyed. And their love … Eddie hopes it survives, that this thing is stupidly lucky like them, because now it's all he has.
Hope about Buck taking him back when he will be ready for their partnership.
“We need a break,” never in his life Eddie wants to see Buck's eyes like that.
“A b-break?” it's barely a whisper. Like Buck tries to say it to make sure it was just a mistake or a joke.
Eddie wants to slap himself for the way Buck looks dead on his legs.
“Yes. We need a break, Evan,” another slap for using this name, but Eddie knows how to punch to make it bleed to make Buck give up on him. At least for a moment. The moment Eddie needs. “We need not be around each other.”
The silence and Buck's little sniffs and tears on his face is the worst answer. Maybe Eddie a little thought about Buck screaming at him to stop it.
After some minutes of them in an awkward situation: Eddie catalogs every Buck's expression for only self-torturing purposes and Buck cries not looking in his direction.
But then Eddie hears Buck's voice and the metallic almost not real or not emotional at all voice, not Buck's voice kills the silence.
“Okay. If-if it is what you want. I'll give you a break, Edmundo. I had a call from 136 three days ago. They need a backup for several months till Bosco’s partner comes back,” Buck comes to the door of the kitchen. “I'll go out of this door and you have six months that I will wait for you, Eddie. Six months. Not more. And then I want to hear your decision about us. If you don't want to end the break after that or you really just want to just break up with me, do it now. Be better than Abby,” Buck says, not looking at him. “I'm tired to be someone waiting for a partner who doesn't want him at all.”
Eddie hits the kitchen counter so hard he feels too much pain, but he doesn't move to Buck to beg him to stay how his heart wants.
“I'll call you. Maybe even before six months,” Buck nods and leaves.
Eddie hears Jeep’s engine only after twenty minutes.

I'm actually not sure if I like Carla or not. She's a wonderful health care aid, but I didn't liked how she and Abby talked about Buck in s1 (and was very suprised when she came back as Buck's friend in s2) and I hated how she said that Chris needed a mother.
I think a health care aid or anyone who is working as closely as families as she is, should understand that families come in all shapes and there is no convential family modell. Chris never implied he needs a mother (or a new parent) after Shannon, and he and Eddie has enough support from her, Buck, the 118 and Pepa+Abuela that there is no need for anyone to fill that place.
The closest Chris has to a second parental figure is Buck (who he trust and goes to if he has problems and Eddie is not prepared to deal with it) and we didn't see him really bond with Ana outside of liking her as her teacher. He and Marisol doesn't even have a scene where they talk (though there might be something in the upcoming episodes)
Also Eddie hearing not just from his parents (who are traditional and place so much pressure on having a "proper" family that Eddie felt obligied to marry Shannon), but from someone who spends so much time with Chris, that he needs a mother would certainly not help him to unlearn all the things he heard in his childhood.
So when Eddie realises that a family doesn't need to have a woman parental figure, he might actually figure out he likes Buck

tagged by @ladydorian05 @daffi-990 @callmenewbie @loserdiaz @heartshapedvows @carlos-in-glasses @cold-blooded-jelly-doughnut @wikiangela @wildlife4life @bonheur-cafe some more of my vampire!buck au (buddie orgasm delay is coming (lol) i'm just keeping that under wraps since i've shared so much of it lately)
“I figured you were probably thirsty.” Eddie’s voice startles Buck. He’s currently pouring half the contents of a blood bag Bobby keeps in the station’s fridge into an opaque water bottle. It wasn’t until he was helping Eddie take out the bomb from Charlie’s leg that he realized just how long it’s been since he last fed. The blood from his leg calling to Buck like a beacon. He had to stop his breathing to keep himself in check.
From the worried looks Eddie kept shooting at him in the ambulance, it didn’t go unnoticed.
“Is that why you’ve been in a mood all shift?” Eddie continues as Buck quickly disgards the blood bag. From the politely disgusted looks Hen and Chimney have given him and Bobby, he knows that humans don’t like seeing blood casually on display. Now with Buck wanting to be in Eddie’s good graces, he doesn’t want to scare him with any of his vampiric nature. Even if it’s something he needs to live. “You haven’t drank blood in a while or something?”
Instead of giving Buck a wide berth like he expects, Eddie is standing across from him on the kitchen counter. A curious expression on his features. He’s giving no indication that he’s grossed out by the blood in Buck’s water bottle or the idea of Buck needing to drink it. In fact, he looks more concerned than anything else. As if the idea of Buck feeding enough is something for Eddie to worry about.
Buck hesitates, messing with the cap on the water bottle. “It’s not that I don’t feed enough. Bobby keeps plenty of blood bags for both of us to keep our strength up. It’s just…” How can he explain this to a human? “Have you ever had food that’s good but it’s not great?” Buck wrinkles his nose. Did that even make sense?
It seems to for Eddie. “Those bags aren’t fresh. They taste stale or something?”
“Yeah. I guess that’s a good word for it. I’ll drink it, but I don’t like it.” Shrugging he takes a swig from his water bottle, slightly grimacing from the taste. “There are places I can go where humans like it when I feed from them but-” But then he met Abby. Drinking from her – loving her while drinking from her – ruined those places for him. “-I haven’t had time. My sister is in town.”
Eddie raises an eyebrow. “She a vampire too?”
Buck smiles. “Yeah. She raised me. Helped me control my cravings when I was turned. I don’t know what I’d be without her.” Probably still feral with bloodlust.
Something soft settles on Eddie’s face. “You should bring her to the station sometime. I’m sure everyone would like to meet her.”
“Yeah? Yeah, I will. She’d like that too.” Hopefully it will make her stay here with him. No more running like she’s prone to do.

tagged by @wikiangela whose car sex fic has me SAT
i started the heart attack fic for bthb, but i'm gonna keep that to myself until it's finished and posted because i’m very insecure lmao, so have a little bit of eddie vs the hoa
“You sound jealous.”  Eddie balks, insulted at the mere suggestion that he’s jealous of somebody as contemptuous as Abbie Jean Gentry. “I am not!” He snorts. “I have never in my thirty-two years of life—count ‘em, thirty-two—I have been shot and stuck beneath the ground and lost my wife and been to war, but I have never, ever been jealous of anybody, and especially not motherfucking—” “Could’ve fooled me,” Buck interrupts, elbowing him in the side and motioning with his head at the woman walking up to their stall. “Hi, Mrs. Gentry.”  Abbie Jean Gentry is a beautiful, chubby woman with long, curling black hair and big, light green eyes. Her voice is deep and her laugh is infectious and she pulls off heels just as well as sneakers; she commands any room she walks into and makes sure to shake the hands of every person she meets and does her best to help solve whatever problem she’s faced with.  She’s not a bad person.  Eddie can’t stand her.  “Hi, Buck.” She smiles, all straight white teeth, and Eddie remembers the two years he wore braces with disdain. His sisters were ruthless when they made fun of him. “How are you?”  “Enjoying all these sweet treats,” Buck says, laughing, and hands the last sugar cookie off to one of the little kids that were following Chris around earlier. “Looks like the sale’s going well.”  She nods, appraising the fish bowl full of paper bills and coins at the edge of their table. It’s not as full as hers—she’s probably so proud. “It’s going even better than I expected,” she agrees, judging their clutter of cupcakes and broken cookies. “Did you make these yourself, Buck?”  “Huh? Oh, no.” Buck grins, hooking his thumb toward Eddie. “Eddie helped.”  Abbie Jean Gentry blinks, feigning surprise. “Oh, Mr. Diaz.” She smiles, close-mouthed and thin. “I didn’t see you there.”  Funny. Eddie’s standing right next to Buck, near enough their shoulders are touching. One can’t notice and speak with Buck without noticing the other.  Eddie curls his lip up. “I’m sure you didn’t.”  Buck elbows Eddie again, hard enough to hurt this time. “You’ll have to excuse him,” he says, giving her his best grin and wow, his best friend is a suck up. “We stayed up late last night finishing the cookies and cupcakes, and he hasn’t had anything to eat today except sweets.”
this fic accidentally turned into a whole thing so we’ll see where it goes

and while i'm here at the library with the good wifi and a keyboard let me address something else to the toxic weirdasses trying to pretend it's ✨internalized misogyny✨ because "if tommy were a woman you would hate her yall hated all his other girlfriends"
hmm. no 💃🏽
let's go through the list of buck's girlfriends, which i personally disliked and why. you'll be surprised to find that i only hated one, and it had to do with the way kristen reidel butchered her character to make a self insert
Abby - i liked abby a lot. she was flawed and vulnerable and liked buck. she helped him mature and become a little more thoughtful, and i think let him figure out how much he wanted to be in a real relationship and have all those romantic experiences (hot air balloon date i'll always regret your premature murder). yeah she left him in an awful way and didn't bother to apologize and i hated her for THAT but during the relationship? nah fam i was rooting for those crazy kids
Ali - hell i REALLY liked Ali. smart, sassy, fun, also just liked buck and enjoyed his company. i didn't like her abrupt exit from the show but it's perfectly valid for someone to say "i can't handle the danger you're in and this won't end well for either of us if we try"
let's skip taylor and come back
natalia - i LIKED her at first. sure she was a little judgy about all his crazy ass shenanigans but uh... who tf wouldn't be? she wasn't judging him as a person, just being like "bruh wtf have you gotten yourself in to?" they didn't do a lot to flesh out her character because... well, see: kristen reidel and then this season tim had to dump her character bc she didn't want to come back (valid of her tbh)
aight and the TAYLOR of it all:
i liked taylor when she was introduced. i said it
or, to be more accurate, i enjoyed her character and what i thought the purpose of her character as a plot device was going to be
i will forever die on the hill that taylor kelly could have been an excellent recurring friendly antagonist. a ruthless, ambitious, snarky reporter, getting in bitch fights with eddie every time she shows up to horn in on the 118 for one of her investigations trying to climb the vicious corporate news ladder. getting in the way, occasionally helping out against her will, climbing buck like a tree in bar restrooms, then flouncing off until her next appearance. it would have been great
and then kristen reidel needed a self-insert, tried to redeem her with no actual work done on selling it, made her spineless, then turned her back into an awful unethical reporter when she needed to get rid of her, and worse, made her BORING AS FUCK doing it AND didn't accomplish any narrative purpose with it? nah fuck that shit.
and what i want you to notice is that NONE OF THAT HAS FUCK ALL TO DO WITH BUDDIE
godDAMN y'all are testing my nerves

honestly maybe it's just me but buck is literally repeating the same steps as with natalia and taylor as with tommy. they meet, he has a crush, go on a date, it's awful and the date leaves, they then come back, then try for real. Like it sounds like even though Buck is off the hamster wheel in regards to his sexuality he very much is still on the hamster wheel when it comes to repetitive mistakes when it comes to his relationships.
Hey Nonnie
I woudn't say that at all. Yes of course there are some similarities - there always will be - between Buck dating Tommy and the Buck who dated Taylor or Natalia. But the reality is they are worlds apart.
For starters Tommy didn't leave because the date was awful, he left to give Buck some space to do a bit more figuring out - he said so himself that his what he was doing. He chose to leave the ball in Bucks court, understanding this was a big new thing for him and that it wouldn't be right to continue anything until Buck was ready. Buck then contacted him when he was and they met up and decided mutually to give things ago.
This is very different to both Taylor and Natalia - both of whom left after something big had happened in Bucks life (Eddie being shot and Kameron popping up out of seemingly nowhere) and then they were the ones to come back - to chase after Buck.
Look we can have whole conversations about the chasing being chased aspect of things but the long and short of it is That both Taylor and (to a lesser extent) Natalia, Ali and Abby chased Buck in one way or another and when it suited them. Tommy has never chased Buck - he shot his shot, sure, made his interest known, but he hasn't once chased Buck. Buck has always mistaken things for him doing the chasing (he is an very unreliable narrator) becuse he gets invested fast and so pursues things. His mistake is moving to fast - falling to quickly for people.
This is the major fundamental difference with Tommy, who is older and wiser and settled with who he is and what he wants. He also has the understanding of being queer and coming out later in life - of discovering that part of yourself that has been hidden and the fact it might take Buck a minute to figure out things.
The other big thing for me is the level of honest Buck is being here - this isn't something we've seen before in this way. He has been completely up front with Tommy when it has been important for him to be so (I would argue he did do the same for Natalia but that he was more forced into it by circumstance). That coffee they had was a very very clear example of that, he sat down, appologised and laid his cards out on the table. He's told the two most important people in his life that he's bi and interested in Tommy and yes maybe going to a wedding is a bit fast, but he also knows most of the people there so he's not walking in to a big unknown in t hat respect and he has a lot of goodwill with the firefam at this moment after flying them to the curise ship so they could rescue Athena and Bobby.
In all honesty I'm far more circumspect about Natalias behaviour as well - far more than a large portion of fandom was towards her. Did I like her as a character or for Buck, No I didn't, but she also didn't do all that much wrong in my eyes, her wanting to take a minute when presented with all that Bucks life is, to think things through before jumping into something is perfectly acceptable and healthy behaviour. The reality is that she was more interested in Bucks death than she was in his life and thats probably what brought her back - that itching need to know more about his death and what it was like.
But she came into his life when he was in a rough place mentally and it was never going to go well for that reason alone. All of Bucks girlfriends have that in common - they met him on the job and then come inot his life when he is having some form of internal crisis. Abby when he had just lost his first person on the job - making him emotionally vulnerable. Ali when he's accepted his relationship with Abby wasn't going anywhere a new guy had just started at work (yes they were getting on by this point but it is still new and an unknown) and his sister had just come back into his life after having had no contact for several years - and he knows she's in a fragile place. Taylor messes hm around but when she comes back into his life and wants to date him - Eddie has just been shot and he's looking after Christopher - he's massively emotionally compromised. None of these are good times to start a romantic relationship.
That isn't the case with Tommy - Bucks actually in a pretty decent place - yes the whole discovering he's queer could be argued as making him emotionally compromised, but he's being given the grace to do things at his own pace - in a healthy way - Tommy is letting Buck dictate the pace they go at.
We also have to remember that we are in a tv show - every single character who isn't a main (or to a certain extent a recurring) is there to act as a storytelling vehicle for one of the mains - their character traits are always going to be those which help get a main character from A to B, to move the story along and to make sure our mains learn something about themselves and their fellow mains along the way.
Abby was about getting Buck from being a bit of a clueless player into a long term (ish) relationship - about growing him out of his jock ways and getting him (and us) to recognise that he isn't a player that he wants real love and a long term relationship. Ali was about him getting over his first big disappointment - about getting hm to move on and about getting him his own place to exist. Taylor was about learning what love didn't look like, about how to treat others and showing him what he wasn't looking for and teaching him not to compromise on his morals. Natalia was all about Buck reconciling himself with his death and rebirth and as soon as he had done that, she was gone.
Tommy is about Buck discovering his queer identity, having a safe space to explore that and about getting him ready for Eddie - its why Tommy is soooo similar to Eddie - Buck will come out of this relationship (whatever form it takes) understanding who he is, and recognising what he wants is what he already almost has - Eddie.
Tommy is also about helping manoeuvre Eddie into questioning himself - another reason why he is so similar to Eddie - Eddie needed to see a gay version of himself - and with Buck to actually start thinking about himself and who he is and what he wants.
So all this to say that Nonnie - Buck has very much got off that hamster wheel and he is very much not making the same mistakes over again. I'm very excited to see how it continues to play out and I'm overjoyed with how the show is handling telling this story.

romantic confession dialogue prompts:
11. "don't make me say it. i can't say the words."
and/or
14."i dream of you. all i do, is dream of you."
i love angsty fluff, me 🥲
"don't make me say it. i can't say the words"/ "i dream of you. all i do, is dream of you."
(i tried doing both in the same drabble. hope you like it! <3 )
Buck thinks relationships and love are meant to be fast paced; a race with an abrupt end that finishes as soon as he says 'I love you', leaving him feeling empty and hallow. Because Buck is not the guy someone would stay for, not the guy someone would want a forever with. He is just not.
That's what he knows. That’s what he’s had all his life. The rush. The adrenaline. The physical attraction and the lust. The fast paced emotions and desires that burn hot and then burn out like the fires he puts out everyday at work. Something that’s meant to be short-lived with a flash of ecstasy.
So when he fins himself in Eddie's kitchen, with the man looking at him with wide brown eyes— begging, pleading for Buck to make the first move. He freezes.
"What are we doing here, Buck? What do you want?" Eddie asks, voice soft and quiet, almost scared but hopeful. "How do you feel?"
And Buck can't even be surprised. They've been dancing on the edge of something for a long time now and he knows Eddie just wants to make sure they're om the same page.
But Buck— he wants to make the move, he's dreamt about this moment for so long... but he opens his mouth and nothing comes out.
This feels like a big moment, a monumental life changing moment, despite the simplicity and domesticity of being in Eddie's kitchen, just finished watching dishes like every other Friday night.
"Don't make me say it. I can't say the words." Buck chokes out. He thinks of the moment he thought of saying those words to Abby, just for her to walk away and never look back. He thinks of how Ali basically did the same. He thinks of how he said the words to Taylor but they felt wrong and out of place in his mouth, leaving a bitter taste behind.
He thinks 'I love you' is not meant for him. He thinks the words escape him like he is cursed, broken. Maybe he is.
"Eddie, I can't—" He whispers, voice trembling, hands shaking and his vision going blurry with unshed tears. "I'm scared." He admits, his voice sounding small like a little kid's, the confession slipping from his lips with shame. "I don't want to mess any of this up, I just— I don't want to ruin us."
God, he is terrified. Because Eddie is... Eddie. He's Buck's best friend, his person, his partner in and out of the job, the love of his life— He's Eddie. And Buck—
He can't.
Eddie looks at him, with a small fond smile tugging at his lips. All vulnerable and open.
"Okay." He says. "I guess I can be brave for the both of us." He murmurs, stepping closer and reaching up to tangle his hand into Buck's hair, fingers still a little wet from washing dishes just minutes ago wetting the strands and brushing them gently.
Buck's heart is beating so fast and loud inside his chest he thinks there's no way Eddie can't hear it.
"I love you, Evan." Eddie says, and they're so close his breath tingles against Buck's face, their lips almost brushing. "I dream of you, you know? All I do, is dream of you. I dream of us just like this, in our kitchen. I dream of us cuddling on the couch and watching movies, going to bed together and waking up in the morning wrapped up in your arms. I— I dream of us growing old together. And I think maybe you feel the same?" Eddie asks at the end, hopeful. "Please, say you feel the same. Tell me I'm not alone in this."
"Eddie." Buck exhales, Eddie's name falling from his lips like a prayer, like an oath.
And maybe he's not ready to say those words yet, hut he knows Eddie can see them written all over his face in that moment, he can hear it in the way he says his name. I love you.
Buck is not sure who closes the distance, all he knows is that his lips are brushing against Eddie's in a soft, perfect dance. Sliding together like two pieces of a puzzle.
I love you. He says in that kiss. I love you.

Okay, so, I've been avoiding talking about the couch thing but I really need to talk about the couch thing.
The main about the couch thing is that it exists on two levels, it is not something we decided that was there, it's something Buck talks about, we see him talking about it with Eddie, we know Maddie knows about it, it's something that's important to Buck and he says so. But, like everything else in any piece of media, it also exists at a meta-level. So we have things that Buck is telling us and we have things the show is putting on the screen outside of Buck's view of it.
With what Buck says in that conversation about the couch, we can backtrack the couch thing and apply it to season 2, with Ali helping Buck pick the loft and probably decorating it too. But me and my delusional juice want to take the couch thing back to Abby, so stay with me for a minute.
When Abby leaves, Buck stays at her place for a while, so technically speaking Abby also came with a couch, so 3 girlfriends, 3 couches, but he doesn't count Abby into the situation for whatever reason he might have, maybe he's just thinking about the loft. But the thing is, if you wanna apply symbolism to couches and Buck's bad history with them applied to relationships, talking Abby's couch is important because they're on Abby's couch when she tells him she's leaving and never comes back, so Buck's first big heartbreak started on a couch.
But sure, let's just count Ali, what conversation do Buck and Ali have on the couch? The one where she tells him she's not comfortable with his job, which pretty much translates to she's not comfortable with who he is, ultimately ending the relationship, so yet another L for team couch.
And adding Taylor in, we see them on the couch talking about Taylor's past, but that's on Ali's couch, Ali's couch already has its own break of trust, we see them "discuss" the couch situation when Taylor moves in, but the only time we see anyone on the couch Taylor brought in is when they are discussing Jonah. Surprise Surprise, the thing that ultimately breaks Buck and Taylor's relationship started on a couch.
Something else about these conversations that ultimately lead to the relationship falling apart is that they never start with both of them on the couch. With Abby, Buck is kneeling in front of her then he sits, with Ali he's sitting down, she's standing up then she's the one kneeling and with Taylor they spend the duration with her on the couch and him on the chair. Abby is in her couch, Ali's stays with Buck and Taylor takes her couch back.
So we retroactively get to add the couch into all of Buck's canon romantic relationships before we get to the couch thing being established in season 6.
I'm gonna use the layout of the loft on a meta-level here, so bear with me.
The couch thing starts in Buck's kitchen, with Chris making fun of him for not having a couch and him telling Eddie "my last 2 couches came with girlfriends" and "maybe I don't want to pick the wrong couch again" and this is happening on the show, so this bit exists on Buck's view of the couch. But I think it's important on a meta-level this conversation is happening in the kitchen while Buck cooks, one because food is a love language in the show and two because cooking is something that Buck enjoys, so the kitchen is his "safe place" in a way.
The next time we hear about the couch thing is after the lighting when his mother decides to buy him a couch. This conversation happens in the "living room" a place in the loft where we pretty much never see Buck alone in, and the only time we see him somewhat happy while he's alone in it is at the end of 6x01 when he moves the chair to where the couch is supposed to be. So the space where the couch goes it's for other people (maybe there's some extra symbolism here with the couch being constantly picked by someone else too). So his choice about the couch got taken away in a space that's for guests, but he's okay with it because Buck craves his parents' attention too much to not let it happen.
But now he's really uncomfortable with the couch he has (is funny that even Oliver said the couch was uncomfortable so like, it was an uncomfortable couch lol) we see him unable to get comfortable enough to fall asleep in it, we see the frustration in his face after he ends up on the couch when Kameron falls asleep in his bed. He's not happy with the couch but this is still about how Buck perceives the couch.
Then we have the couch getting ruined when Kameron gives birth on it. Something that I think it's interesting on a meta-level is that Buck's mother says the couch is for guests but until the birth, Buck is the only one using the couch and considering the way that we don't really get the living room as a place that Buck himself hangs around in, it's a choice even more considering he didn't pick the couch. Again.
I think from a meta and Buck's personality POV you can take the birth scene and peel it off and find a hundred layers, but there is something about the way they had the kid Buck chose to help someone else have being born on the couch the mother who had Buck to help someone picked. The couch is for guests, the living room is for guests, everything about that scene points to temporary in Buck's life.
Then we have the couch thing being "resolved" (quotation marks because I don't think it is resolved in all levels) with Buck deciding to ask Natalia to go buy a couch with him. From Buck's POV, the couch thing is solved, he's not afraid to pick a couch, he's getting a couch, he's getting a girlfriend (he should get a therapist instead but who am I to say anything).
BUT I wanna dissect the scene where he asks Natalia to buy the couch. Because here's the thing, we don't see Buck on his balcony often, but the balcony is his inner conflict location. He's there after Maddie and Chim leave and is trying to get Eddie to reassure him he did the right thing and he's there with Maddie after Taylor chooses her career over him trying to figure out if he got love wrong, so to have Natalia sitting outside is a choice. To have him not invite her back in is also a choice.
Because the couch thing started in the kitchen, a place Buck is extremely comfortable in and it could've also ended there. To have Natalia sitting by the counter or at the kitchen table while the cleaners did whatever and have him join her there, would be basically the same scene but it would have a different effect. To have him get to the door and pull her back inside would've had a different effect. Because she would've been in his space, not sitting outside of it. She's literally outside and while he's asking her to do something important for him with him, he's not bringing her inside. Literally. And all of this happening in his inner conflict location in the loft? It's a choice and it makes me wonder if that was really the end of the couch of it all.
Because, like, he was never all the way in with Ali or Taylor, they were always kept at arm's length, even with how long Buck and Taylor stay together, you can feel he's not all the way in, so it says something that the couch girlfriends he counts are the girlfriends he wasn't sure of.
And the way I typed all this out and still haven't brought up Eddie lol. I think it says something on a meta-level that Buck fell asleep instantly on Eddie's couch, like, they were doing something, BUT if the thing about the couch is about choice, Buck didn't pick Eddie's couch either. And I kinda think that should be a factor here too. Because if we wanna discuss the couch as a metaphor for relationships, we need to think about the way none of Buck's relationships start with Buck. He is never the one that takes the initiative. He never picked the couch. Abby gets his number, Ali calls him, Taylor sends him a drink, kisses him, and shows up at his door, and Natalia asks him out and shows up at his door, so if the thing here is the lack of choice or Buck being the one to choose the couch for a change they can't just put him in Eddie's couch and call it a day. It's deeper than that. Buck needs to choose himself and something for himself first.

tease tidbit tuesday! 🎸🎙️
Tagged by @heartbeatdiaz thank you love 💙💙💙
rule: share whatever scene or snippet from your fic that has you excited, ig???
I shared part of it for sss but I needed to share part with Bobby cause his my fav here and I actually excited about this scene
more enemies to lovers au
“Let's get started. Buck, you're the first, play that tune that you showed me a few months ago,” Bobby points Buck to the instruments.  Buck goes to the guitar to play a melody that he started six months ago, but the text never came to him and he never finished it. Maybe someday.  He almost reaches the chorus, when the damn brown-eyed begins to sing and his as it was called "a wonderful angelic drawling voice that makes you think sinful things"(Buck literally read it in twitter once) fills the room. And it took you five whole minutes To pack us up and leave me with it Holdin' all this love out here in the hall I think I've seen this film before And I didn't like the ending You're not my homeland anymore So what am I defending now? You were my town Now I'm in exile, seein' you out I think I've seen this film before They end the chorus and both are looking at each other shocked. Buck can admit lyrics are good and go with music fantastically. Well, he can admit it for himself, never to anyone else. “I wrote it after Shannon sent the divorce papers,” the only explanation Eddie gives to Bobby, and the old man nods.  Buck feels the urge to be a jerk and doesn’t stop himself. “Couldn't satisfy your wifey?” Eddie turns to him so quickly that Buck is sure his neck will hurt for weeks. Fires of anger and hatred are burning in brown eyes and Buck wants to pour more gasoline. But he doesn’t have a chance to add more. “Well, at least I got into the label not through the bed of one of the producers,” Eddie says with the smirk that Buck hates from the first day he found out about Eddie Diaz, it always makes him want to start a fight.  “I slept with Abby after joining the label. And I didn't know she was a producer,”  “Come on, you're with your story and you haven't whored your way here? How many pussies have you licked and dicks sucked to get there?”  Eddie continues and Buck abruptly gets up and in a few steps overcomes the space between them, standing so close to the brunette jerk, using all his height and size, trying to seem bigger and intimidating. Bobbie’s quiet but rather intimidating voice scares both. “Both shut up and in the corners,” he points to two different chairs in different corners of the studio.  “The lyrics and music are perfect together, so whether you like it or not, we are finishing it. And you better start being a team. Otherwise, both of you will fly out of the label with a scandal that no one will ever want to work with you. Now you both have to stick to each other as if you haven't drank water for days, and the second one is a fountain of pure delicious water. Is that clear?” “Clear,” they both say looking at Bobby like kicked puppies, but then send each other looks that can set someone on fire. “Buck, do you have more for music?”  Bobby looks at him and Buck just shakes his head in denial and slight shame. He had never had to sit for so long with a draft of one song. And moreover, only with a melody. There are no words at all to put his heart in them as much as music does it. “Eddie, more lyrics?”  The old man changes his attention to brown-eyed but Buck prefers to look at the guitar or he might say something again, and maybe Bobby is a good man, and with the patience of the saint, but he has his limits too, and Buck pushed them enough in the past that almost lost his place in the label. “Only three more lines in the start,” the voice of a jerk playing an angel says and Buck can’t stop himself from rolling his eyes. Well, looks like they are going to work long together. “Ok, Eddie, give your lyrics to Buck to read. Buck, give Eddie notes to look and Eddie, try to play it. Maybe while you look at the project of the other one it will inspire something. Learn from each other a little. I will go and work in my office, only try to start another fight. I’m serious about ending your careers,” on that Bobby leaves them alone in the studio.

i still can't believe buck actually said the words "better than me" when eddie asked him how chris was doing after he was shot. like. that's insane. that's genuinely, completely insane. and the way he just goes out and says it with a nervous little chuckle then barrels on before eddie can say anything, APOLOGIZING for breaking down infront of christopher, ONCE AGAIN admitting to being a fucking mess after eddie was hurt. like my guy was trying real hard to form a coherent love confession after the love of his life almost died and while said loml was on too many sedatives at the moment to catch on. the shooting was a real slap in the face for buck in regards of his feelings for eddie bc while yes i do believe he known about them before, only after the shooting did he really feel the need to do something about it, bc again, he almost lost THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE and he'd never got to tell him if he did. but then of course he's slapped in the face again by eddie revealing the will and meaning it as a love confession while buck takes it as eddie drawing a line in the sand in their relationship, as him being downgraded to second choice. his whole demeanor changes towards eddie after, and i think it's most noticable with ana. bc before he was being AT LEAST half-heartedly supporting, trying to make an effort for his best friend but after shooting he's just. not. he straight up tells eddie to dump her, rather forcefully pushes at eddie to realize his relationship is failing, looks SOO happy, for completely unrelated reasons, im sure, after eddie basically tells him he's breaking up with ana. which is just so. ugh. yeah also him bringing up the shooting with eddie multiple times, "i mean you did also just get shot". him comparing his relationship with abby to eddie and ana's, while sounding like he's talking about a completely different thing (his own feelings for eddie.) i mean come on: "eddie, i've been ana, i know what's like to be in love with someone who's not all the way in, deep down you know it and it hurts" u trying to tell me that's about abby?? REALLY?? when he was intimidated by the responsibility of a serious relationship and of potentially taking care of her mom but with eddie he genuinely never, ever had that. he was all the way in the moment he drove eddie to chris' school and never once shown intimidation or annoyance at having to deal with chris. sounds like to me he was only all the way in for one relationship and that was not with abby. "that's not how you talk about someone you're in love with" and how would YOU know mr buckley, since u basically refused to talk about abby while and after u were in a relationship with her. and god his face when eddie says "if i'm being honest with myself it was ana". the naked surprise but also relief he shows seeing the first cracks in their relationship. he doesn't even try to seem supportive. "so what are you going to do" the fucking. transparent interest in how will eddie choose. he was so obvious, man. i've said this before and i'll say it again: s4-5 was buck's pinning era and it all started with the shooting.
