none of the me3 endings are clean or easy, which is a good thing because if there was some miracle solution that ended without sacrifice or loss or unpleasantness, it would take away from the weight of the narrative. but the destroy ending is the only one that doesn't feel like a trap or morally repugnant to the point where it's unjustifiable. you're forced to take up the mantle of butcher to achieve victory and peace, but at least you're not acting out of naïvety, you don't turn into the very thing you vowed to destroy—or god forbid, bend the whole galaxy to your will at the atomic level.

I'm watching through the early Phil younows for the first time and boy, we understandably harp on Dan the most for the 2012 era denial/overcompensating but Phil's contributions are fascinating. So far my highlights include:

"Dan and I don't do everything together because then we would get sick of each other...as friends" ok no one was reading into it as if you weren't friends

Him willingly reading out "would you rather marry Dan or lick a hobo" and having an extended moment of silence that lasts way too long to be casual as he fights for his life trying to figure out what to say before saying hobo and quickly trying to move on. Then Dan joins later on and he unprompted tells Dan about this. Also should be noted shortly after he answered he was like "huh weird my chat is suddenly being slow and there's nothing for me to read out" which seems a little too convenient to me

Top Tier Danny Phantom/Batman crossover things (but from someone who doesn't care about either source material)

•Danny being the first hero

-gives a reason for why the justice league doesn't get involved

-his actions/struggles sets a precedence for the future heroes

-theres all of these well established and famous heroes who have been through hell and back; and then they suddenly melt because that's! their! hero! Holy shit it's him!!!!

•Danny is summoned and what he says sounds condescending and expected of a eldritch monster, but then it cuts to him just being outrageously casual and the translation just isn't working

-there's this really cool fic of Shazam finding out about that and ends up roasting this eldritch being about it

•Danny and Shazam are in a justice league meeting, they're both pretending to be ancient beings instead of literal teenagers, and upon realization they back each other up without any discussion needed

•Danny is the son of mad scientists and it shows

-he's not a rouge himself, but he has an intimate understanding of how their tech works at glance cause he grew up with this kind of crazy

-it's just a Tuesday afternoon

•Danny becomes an astronaut and his powers make him a very useful resource

-there's not nearly enough of this

-in a world where aliens are a thing and space monsters are am actual threat, having Danny on the ship makes him indispensable

•Danny's a retired vigilante and his skills make him seem suspicious

-He's out. He's not getting dragged back in. He accidentally freaks out the local heroes at every turn

•Danny becomes ghost king or whatever and realizes he can fuck over grandpa-al-ghul

-so technically I haven't read a fic where that's the main concept but i want it ok

-just batman being his dad? Doesn't matter. Damien being his twin? They were never on good terms or they're secretly communicating, but that's not relevant to the plot. What's important is that he can make his grandfather go cold turkey on the Lazarus Pits and secretly gut his entire league with no one knowing what the fuck happened

-Danny's plotting and slowly executing the plan to obliterate his grandfather's legacy, with dashes of outsiders pov of watching the ancient league of assassin's being dismantled by thin air

-a conversation in which Damian is on good terms with his secret twin and he overhears his family talk about the leagues destruction: "Ah, Daniel did that" "...who?" "My twin" "Your twin!!!" "Yes. He never liked grandfather's methods, so it is hardly a surprise he did this as a ghost" "....as a ghost" "Of course. Once he was made The King of the Infinite Realms he sent a letter stating his intentions towards taking down grandfather. Sentimental fool. He visits occasionally to complain about the council" and then just walks away whole scrolling through his phone, like a normal teenager. And THIS is how they find out about the anti-ecto act.

-bonus: Danny finds out after defeating Pariah Dark that he's the ghost king and has a hysterical fit of laughter. This is how his friends find out he was a child assassin

oh, of course ford might have been naive for believing bill's manipulations but that doesn't exactly mean he is stupid too. sure, bill's intentions were far more different than what he told but regardless, he chose ford. out of every human he could use, he trusted ford's intelligence to build an inter-dimensional portal. and mind you, he succeeded.

"bill was using you" then what? ford was using him too. they were on a deal, actually. that means both parts get something out of it. plus, he was a little too much focused on his feelings, his admiration. if not he would've definitely realized something is off with bill.

when bill told a story about how he cut a disrespectful garbage's head and displayed it on a square, a lesson to all, ford murmured. when bill sectioned human kind in two; people like ford & others and talked about how much of a material waste others are, how they will never understand ford and exploit his intelligence, ford thought about certain someone who looks just like him. he nodded in agreement when bill casually kept going on how it would be better if they erase out of existence.

he had similar thoughts after all. bill was just more open and violent about them. but wasn't bill always like that? ford never saw those ideas as cracks in bill's mask or slip-ups from his manipulation. he was just bill.

even now he doesn't think bill lied to him all the time because he didn't have to. ford felt himself shiver. those weren't cues for him to realize. he knew and admired bill regardless. admired him with them. admired him because of them.

Would you guys burn me at the stake if I say that I think Chrysalis is actually a really important insight into Julian's character and his view on his own life and the people around him at the time it takes place. It's an episode that doesn't hold up today cause of the very ableist writing and kind of shitty moral but I think it's necessary that it's there and also occurs at the time it does in the show

I'll have a more insightful analysis on it one day cause I really want to talk about it (I want to make better researched ds9 analyses with actual clips from the show and whatnot instead of just vaguely referencing events from memory that could be completely wrong but unfortunately I do not have the time to be doing all of that. I would really like to in the future though)

the way that the hetty and trevor relationship compliments each of their character journeys so well without over taking their main plots and lets them be awful and human, but then also grow is so good. i need to yap more about them honestly.
