Doctors told him he would never regain meaningful function or walk again. In case you haven't heard, we are very excited about an event taking place at The Recovery Project this September 22nd, "Take Power Over Parkinson's". The goal of "Take Power Over Parkinson's" is to raise money to help fund wellness programs for people living with PD. This is a fitness fundraiser where all participants will be able to take part in various exercise classes that are excellent for those living with PD - but participation in the event is for ANYONE, not just those with PD. We hope that all participants seek donations from friends and family to help raise money for the cause. We know how important exercise is for those living with PD and we want everyone to have access to these programs without fear of being able to afford it. Regrann from @recoveryproject - The RT300 SLSA is a functional electrical stimulation (FES) arm and leg cycling system. While cycling on this piece of equipment, you can stimulate up to 12 muscle groups in one or both arms/legs, as well as core. The stimulators allow therapists to adjust stimulation levels specific for each patient to achieve best possible contractions. Research shows that there are many benefits To FES, including prevention of disuse atrophy, relaxation of muscle spasms, increasing circulation, maintaining/increasing range of motion, prevention of skin breakdown and more.
