No disrespect to all the other actors (I seriously love them all) but can we take a moment and appreciate Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard's acting skills?

I mean, let's just think about it.

60% of what Cas says is "Dean" in infinite inflections, the other 40% literally makes zero sense and it's totally unfunny if the lines are not delivered to perfection. Yet, Misha slays every effing time.

On the other hand, 60% of what Crowley says are sexual innuendos, the other 40% are pop culture references that I personally don't get half of the time (I'm not from the US). Yet, Mark eats and leaves no crumbs every effing time.

And they both have spent 8+ years in the same frigging costumes.

I mean, I'm just blown away, they literally carried the show on their shoulders and I'll appreciate them forever.

a cool thing abt hwsk is that it was drawn manually and it SHOWS. i don't know much about how manga's commonly drawn nowadays but i'm p sure it'd possible to either draw 100% digitally (and make it look like traditional) or at least touch up your traditional pages in digital software. but hwsk started in 2006, the chapters i'm reading rn are from 2010-11, and you can See that they haven't seen digital touch-up. every page is full of "imperfections" -- if you look closely, the two panels next to each other aren't precisely even, one is slightly higher than the other; a line from an inked character sticks out beyond the frame; the ink used to draw the panel frames feathered a little in the outer corner... it's so fun! it's not that digitally drawn comics are somehow ~soulless~, but reading a manga like this is like, wow, i'm holding a reproduction of a page that Exists Physically in an original form. someone, possibly more than one person, worked on it, touched the page with their warm hands.

I don’t understand how people can actually hate season 1 of Buffy unless they just hate fun and like jw has claimed “loves seeing buffy suffer” and be blamed and punished for everything???? It’s so nostalgic and camp and queer coded what do you mean you don’t like it????

The puppet show is comedic genius and I’ll say that shit with my whole chest - they’re dealing with an unknown demon killing children and Giles who is always chastising Buffy for focusing too much on things outside of slaying is like “THE SHOW! ITS ABOUT TO START!” 🏃🏻‍♂️💨

Buffy has beef with a puppet for 3/4ths of the episode that is so Spike of her and EXTREMELY FUNNY to me to have the slayer who decapitates vampires with tiny X-Acto knives and knowingly walks to her death majorly creeped out by a dummy 😹😹😹😭😭

Buffy whining in tandem with the tuba playing on the stage as a background sound track to her sinking mood after Synder forces the scoobies to participate in the talent show

The curtain opening to Buffy cradling the dead dummy and a dead demon on stage and Synder in the audience goes “I don’t get it - is it avant-garde?”

THAT SHIT IS SO FUCKING FUNNY TO ME

And Buffy is just in top form for me. Realizing Amy is in her mom’s body even on the verge of death. Seeing the way Cordy treats Willow and immediately finding a reason to align herself with Willow instead despite it being a new school and she is still struggling with not fitting into her old, pre-slayer life. Helping Billy face his fears in his nightmare while overcoming her own of becoming a vampire and really owning her slayerness in a way we haven’t seen before there’s a lot of scary things in the world “AND IM ONE OF THEM”

LIKE YES GIRL YOU ARE TINY AND SCARY I LOVE YOU SO MUCH OWN THAT SHIT. The whole bit where Angel is like BEWARE CLAW VAMP SO DANGEROUS WATCH OUT BE CAREFUL - and she’s like right…… I’m gonna use him as my own personal bloodhound to find the REAL monster. I EAT THAT SHIT RIGHT UP ITS AMAZING. It’s also when Buffy is blamed and suffering the least it’s such a nice break for the entire rest of the series that sometimes I just desperately need.

I LOVE that a show that gives us such deeply emotional moments and captures depression perfectly in season 6 can also be so silly and camp with genuine human emotion and connection underlying it because of the core of very talented and dedicated actors

AND THIS IS COMING FROM A DIEHARD SPUFFY. My man isn’t even there yet and Angel with his useless cryptic creepy bullshit is annoying me to no end AND I STILL LOVE IT

I know there’s tons of technical and quality stuff that gets better as the seasons go on but that’s part of the charm for me.

So anyway leave season 1 alone, she’s my girl and I love her.

In grad school, I made a friend -- “N” -- who was an amazing graphic designer and had a fantastic modern, sleek illustration style that was extremely popular in the mid 2000s.

N and I did everything together, including celebrating holidays, as we were both largely distant from our respective families.

The school we went to... wasn’t a scam, it was a legitimate school and well revered in the industry, but it was way, way overpriced and on the decline (and it no longer exists, which is fine I guess, I paid off my loans and built a business with knowledge not degree recognition.)

I moved away about a month before graduation (for a variety of reasons) so had to fly back to handle the final portfolio review. This went about as well as you are expecting at this point in the story.

Of course, scaling up the plans for my portfolio in the weeks leading up to the flight

I have fantastic memories of Fang screaming the time of my flight and the then-current time at me as I am screaming my printer

Of assembling via x-acto knife in the taxi on the way to the airport (do not do this -- learn from me -- I repeat, do not do this)

Of the cab driver screaming at both of us as we are screaming about how this portfolio review can make or break the next steps of the studio I was about to launch

Fang and I weren’t screaming at each other, more just, brutally intense energy of getting things done that were way outscoped given the time and money resources available

atty: “Rehearse? Are you done, show off?!”

(Uncomfortable laughter on phone): “OH no, not even close. How far along are you?”

atty: “I’m in a cab with glue spray.”

Friend on phone, getting worried as he can hear the city sounds: “Oh man I can just come get you, where are you?”

This time it is atty who laughs uncomfortably.

I fly across the country, take a cab to N--’s apartment from the destination airport (it would take way too long for him to drive, he needs to work). I crash on his couch and for the next 24+ hours we finish our projects, rehearse...

...and listen to Tom Waits for the first time.

Which is the point of the story. It was N--’s apartment, so he picked the music, and I didn’t care because I was intoxicated and caffeinated with the very specific combination used by art students.

This experience is how I discovered Tom Waits’ music.

He froze on the spot, definitely not expecting that when you accompanied him to the gym.

He watched in amazement as his S/O knelt down and showed him the jewelry delicately placed in the box.

He accepts faster than he would have wanted, his face twisted in embarrassment when he fiancée laughed at his quick response.

He doesn't want anyone to know, but he's left admiring his engagement ring when he's alone, he gets quite distracted by it. He is just very happy.

Katsumi Orochi.

Oh boy. He wanted to do it first.

He grumbles a bit about how his S/O thought and planned everything much faster, however, he stops with a smile to agree.

He's probably showing off his engagement ring, suddenly he's rubbing it in Katou's face without remorse.

He will tell everyone how it happened, he will repeat your nice words and even tell his reaction and thoughts at the moment.

Retsu Kaioh.

I say he would cry.

He is so happy to share his life with his S/O that he can't help himself.

It would be nice if his partner would kneel in front of him and say a few sweet words expressing how much they love him.

He will give a deep kiss to his S/O trying to express the accumulation of emotions that he feels at the same time.

DIY Recycled Road Map Cork Board

Project by the BBB Craft Sisters:

A recent house clean-out yielded many items we had a hard time parting with, even though their very existence has become obsolete in the last few years. One of the most noticeable of the bunch: road maps. As our ever-advancing phones and computers take over our lives, we find what was once useful is now trash, yet we couldn’t part with these beautiful maps! They reminded us of our childhood road trips and later travels throughout Europe.

This month, we turned our junk into art and created these recycled cork board maps. We thought it would be an amazing project for a kids’ room to re-create the entire US using a road atlas. We didn’t get that far, but here is the beginning. — bbbcraft sisters

Materials

old maps or a Rand McNally road atlas

spray mount

scissors

X-Acto knife

cork squares or cork roll (depending on the size of the project)

painter’s tape, optional (for low-impact hanging)

double-stick foam tape, optional (for low-impact hanging)

pins and/or string to highlight important locations on the map

Instructions

1. Cut out the state, city or country that you want to mount. You can freehand this, or print out and enlarge the outline of the state and trace it on to the back of the map.

2. Spray the back with spray mount and mount onto cork board. Our Michigan map was a bit too small for the cork squares, so we had to add a tiny piece of cork at the top of the state.

3. Begin cutting out the cork board to follow the outline of the map. Michigan, which has water on almost all sides, proved a bit harder than we had hoped. Something like Nevada might be easier!

4. Clean up the difficult peninsulas and islands with your X-Acto knife. If you find it easier and more precise, you could also use the knife to cut out the entire map.

5. To hang the map, we used our low-impact hanging method. Apply blue painter’s tape (which is easy to remove from most surfaces) to the back of the cork map as well as the wall on which you wish to hang the map.

6. On top of the blue painter’s tape attached to the wall, apply double-stick foam tape.

7. Attach the map to the double-stick tape on the wall. Voila! You will be able to remove or move the map at any time.

8. Using stick pins, embroidery thread or string, mark the places you love and have visited on your map.

When cutting the top, make a circle with a notch in the back so it's easy to put back on

Gut the pumpkin the day before you plan to carve it. For a really amazing jack o lantern, don't just cut your design in holes. You can make a great one by using an x-acto knife to slice off the skin and leave the inner wall. The thinner you make it, the more light shines through so you can do a lot with thickness. This lets you make a multi-dimensional design using 3 types of cuts: full cut, skin cut, and leaving the skin on in between other cuts for 3 different colors. Even cutting the skin from a small part can be easy but give your pumpkin a dramatic look

"Eddie Redmayne realised how ‘extraordinarily hard’ nursing is during latest film".

"Eddie Redmayne has said his latest role helped him realise that being a nurse is an “extraordinarily hard job”.

The 40-year-old British actor stars in upcoming film The Good Nurse, which sees nurse Amy Loughren become suspicious that her colleague Charlie Cullen – played by Redmayne – is responsible for a series of patient deaths.

Speaking about what he discovered about nursing during the filming of the movie, Redmayne said: “We had an amazing guy called Joe who was our nurse specialist and we had two weeks of nurse training, and it became absolutely clear what an extraordinarily hard job it is.”

The film, directed by Tobias Lindholm, is based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Charles Graeber, which is in turn based on the true story of serial killer Charlie who murdered numerous patients during the course of his 16-year career as a nurse in New Jersey.

Oscar winner Redmayne stars alongside Jessica Chastain as she plays the role of Amy.

Redmayne continued: “One of the reasons Charlie, the character I play, was able to slip through the system was because there was a shortage of nurses in New Jersey at the time because it’s such an incredibly hard, underpaid job.

“But certainly the expectations on nurses, the physical expectation, like the actual physical labour, moving bodies, along with the science and the intellect it involves, let alone the emotional quality.

“You have to be a translator of what doctors do, you have to be the person that is there with the families, that sort of emotional intelligence, I think it’s one of the most extraordinarily hard jobs out there.”

Chastain, 45, who recently won the Oscar for best actress for her role in The Eyes Of Tammy Faye, shared Redmayne’s feelings about understanding the complexity of nursing and revealed the experience has remained with her.

“We went to nursing school, even putting in an IV, we learned all of that stuff,” she said.

“And now if I ever have to do anything, or someone’s giving me an IV, I’m always like, is that too much air in the tube? I’m really on them. I’m like, there’s too much air in here, you can’t put that in my vein, and they’re like, I know what I’m doing, chill out.”

Redmayne revealed that he had not taken too well to nursing, jokingly adding: “To be absolutely clear, if anyone is in trouble please call Jessica Chastain, under no circumstances call me, I was useless. I was endlessly injecting the poor dummy in the wrong place.”

The Good Nurse is set for release on Netflix on October 26.

Regarding not taking yourself seriously: I may not be entirely convinced by this particular theory - or any, yet - but I don't think time travel is completely out there or impossible either. Considering the way Adam resets things after the failed Apocalypse, the timeline clearly can be messed with, as can time itself, as Crowley repeatedly demonstrates. I saw the post you reblogged about the rugs and we are rapidly moving out of the territory of plausible deniability regarding the sheer number of bizarre continuity errors. Any one or two of them on their own, yes, but collectively?

If you do go looking back through the minisodes, Crowley's hair seems to go shorter-longer-shorter in Job and his sideburns look like they get quite a bit shorter in the crypt in the Resurrectionists. I didn't see anything in the Nazis minisode, but that doesn't meant nothing's there.

as for the s1 one... im torn. because i saw the amazing post where they hand-painted the mf sink tiles bc they would be in the background of a couple of shots, and wanted to at least be as close to the s1 ones as possible (GO crew honestly do the Mostest). and yeah okay, re: the difference between the s1 and s2 rugs, maybe it's that they thought 'well it's going to be on the floor most of the time and therefore out of shot' but. there are two shots that literally focus on it. as the focal point. so to my mind, they either literally couldn't find a like for like replacement (completely valid), or something Fishy is going on.

ive seen a couple of people remark on the flashbacks potentially being skewed because they're from aziraphale's perspective, but ive genuinely had the half-baked idea that the whole season is. there's so many in-story indicators, to my mind - biased red/yellow colour grading, the cartoony loch ness animation in ep3, and tbh the whole ball thing - and i do wonder if this whole rug sitch (as well as other Unexplained Things) might be chalked up to this very thing; that we are seeing s2 for the mostly part literally through aziraphale's eyes, and that what we see is a little... altered. magicked. as i said, half-baked idea, but there we are.

i did end up going through ACtO, and it's currently sat in my drafts at the moment because... well, idk what to make of it. the scenes where - by my estimation - he has the longer, more defined-curl wig, is every shot in job's house (three scenes, iirc), and so it might actually, if you consider that these scenes were likely filmed in alternative days to the other ACtO scene, a plain continuity/wig-availability issue. plus, when looking at the dialogue, all the scenes in some way link together (so i don't, essentially, think it can feasibly be the same time-travel theory). the only thing, i guess, that still remains valid is that we are seeing a recount of the events of ACtO as per aziraphale's retelling... but even then, there are plenty of scenes where they are very heavy in the crowley perspective (ie it doesn't feel like aziraphale is fudging anything), so this doesn't 100% feel like a true explanation either imo.

i do still need to look at the resurrectionists minisode though, so may well be able to parse some crackpot musing once ive done that!!!✨
