Just saw Benito Santos' Fall 2023 collection at Mexico Fashion Week on Vogue Runway and the whole collection is stunning go check it out but there were some pieces I saw that I think Må could wear really well

First up: Blouses

Need I say anything more? One of my favorite looks they ever wore were their Belgium Ronquieres Festival in August 2021 (and not just bc Vic's boobs were out, okay) Damianos flouncy white blouse contrasted by his mullet, black leather shorts, black combat boots and large black Inan Studio belt? LOVE! I imagine these blouses being styled similarly with the belts from this collection (which remind me of that belt from that performance)

Next stop: whatever these tops are called?

They're probably hot as hell BUT I'm almost positive that they've worn some similar shit. I'm throwing this one in here not bc I'M in love with it but bc I think the band would currently wear it.

Coming to a stage near you (hopefully): CAPES!

We know Damiano loves a cape, or at least if I had a penny for everytime Damiano's worn a cape I'd have two pennies. Which isn't a lot but I'm glad it's happened at least twice. I don't care that he will take this off after three songs, (wimp) I want him in a cape! Or anyone in a cape, really but he seems the most likely to wear it? Idk.

Category is: the whole fit slaps & it fits Må's style

okay so we only have one contender here but whatever. Could've been put with the blouses but I'm in LOVE with this outfit so it needs its own spotlight.

Miscellaneous

Ethan got a poncho in South America, right? Give him a sparkly one with fringe now. It's maybe not a great top to drum for an hour in but hey, he could wear it for like, a 20 minute set at a radio station or something.

Second pic makes me think Vic, but I'm not in love with it

However, I am in love with these red & grey tops. Again, maybe not the best for an hour of drumming or guitar playing (and god knows Damiano's taking it off bc he always takes his top off) but it would look so fucking cool. Maybe this is another one for a short set or just a photoshoot

I know I'm focusing mostly on the tops here but all of the interesting pants in this collection would fit Damiano & Thomas really well. Damiano bc it's the only thing he's gonna be wearing for half the freaking show and Thomas bc he's the King of Interesting Pants

as a bi person, the bisexual flag brings me infinite joy and always puts a smile on my face, however as a person who has a Passion for Graphic Design, that undersaturated shade of purple infuriates me when it's used digitally

like, on an actual flag - which was its original purpose - it looks great!

those look fine! lovely, even! with the semi-transparent fabric, the way it catches the sunlight, it looks beautiful!

but now look at how it looks digitally

the pink and blue are so vibrant compared to the sad, lonely lavender!

and let's look at this statement from Michael Page, the creator of the bi flag:

(sidenote: he created this flag in 1998, so if his takes on bisexuality is different from yours, it's okay to notice that! a lot has changed since the 90s when it comes to lived experiences and the way we describe them. but, it's also important to respect his thoughts about this and the way he presented them, even if today, we'd probably not say that bi people "blend unnoticeably into both the gay/lesbian and straight communities.")

so in pantone colors, the pink is 226 C, the blue is 286 C, and the purple of the flag is 258 C.

but...here's the deal

Michael talks here about how the key to understanding the symbolism is to know that the purple blends into both the pink and blue. and on a physical flag, I think you can see that!

but digitally, it absolutely does not blend. it clashes badly, and looks oddly separate from the other two colors.

which got me wondering...what purple do you get if you actually blend 226 C and 286 C?

oh! oh, my god.

look at that! look at how nicely it fits between those colors!

look at it next to the original color scheme! look at how much more vibrant the purple is!

and friends. this is just blending through rgb! you get even more purple variations when you use other color spaces!

let's compare all of them:

(top: original, lab. middle: lrgb, lch. bottom: rgb, hsl)

look at all of the different purple options you can get just by combining these two colors!

if you want almost too-vibrant saturation, you can go hsl, if you want something more relaxed that's closer to the original, you can go lab or lrgb. and if you want to split the difference, lch is bright and violet, while rgb is there with its saturated but darker purple.

anyway, I guess I don't really have a point here? this isn't so much an informational post as it is Me Getting Weird About Colors, but I think it is a useful lesson about how colors look very different on screens compared to how they look on objects in real life.

and sometimes, I think it's okay to compensate for that.

out of all of these, this is my favorite bi flag:

it's the one where the colors were blended in lab color space. for me, the lighter, softer purple is close enough to the original bi flag purple, while also feeling like a smoother blend of the blue and pink

but that's just me! and it might not even look the same to you, since every screen is different, because technology is a nightmare!

anyway, thank you for coming with me on this colorful journey! I will now retreat back to inkscape and make pained sounds about inkstitch gradients until something tangible pulls me back into reality

there's something deeply gutting about being a writer right now. watching studio execs brag about starving people like you out of your very house just to not pay you anything above the pennies you currently make. watching some people cheer over AO3 being targeted for a DDOS attack. the complete lack of profitability of writing commissions or writing in general in transformative spaces, especially in contrast to fanart. the pivot of so many social media platforms to be video and image based near-exclusively.

I don't know. it just makes me sad to know that the hobby that kept me alive while growing up homeschooled with dial-up internet and local antenna TV... is only ever gonna be a side job with minimal engagement. I know this site is good about supporting libraries and the concept of books but, do me a favor? Reach out to a writer friend you know. Danny felt as though he was not welcome into the family it's been a month and a half since he was "welcomed" into the family. Bruce had said that all his children would welcome him in but no one would except a fight and when one of them did mostly Dick they would not take it seriously and would often let him win. He did not know how munch longer he could take it so he decided on a plan.

Bruce could not believe what he was seeing, he thought that Damian was doing much better now, he thought he made it clear that he was not to fight Danny who was 5. But as he looked at his phone in horror he can see a video of Damian fighting his little brother in the middle of the dog park.

Ghost fight to show power and status the more powerful you are the more you are respected

If a ghost refuses to fight another it can be seen as disrespectful and make it seam that you are not worth the time or energy

In families especially for children fighting is considered a form of acknowledgment and bonding, when a new ghost joins a family and the other ghosts refused to fight it can be see as they are rejecting the new ghost.

It can also be seen as rude if a ghost dose not take the fight seriously and let's a ghost win just because they are younger and/or weaker.

"how did the guy with no friends win" is fucking me up because. that's the point. that's the truth that lies at the centre of the life series. if you want to win, you can't let yourself get too attached to anyone, because you'll just have to kill them anyway. that's the pact that was made in the very first season in a bloody circle on the sand. you can't bring anyone with you, not unless you want to look in their eyes and see the betrayal - or, perhaps worse, understanding - there when you kill them. nobody wins the life series with friends. nobody wins the life series.
