once their boys are and nightmare has told them about what happened to them, how would they feel?
I am guessing this is when he explains what happened to them.
Well... this group grew up knowing they need to trust their souls. I am debating if they regain some memories as they get older (though they would still be too young to remember anything significant at that time) though I am figuring they will just remember things at random, no matter their age. The memories are still in there no matter how old they are... just stashed away from the conscious mind. When they do remember, though, it is just disregarded as a dream or daydream. But maybe some nightmares that they have had throughout their lives start feeling more real now that Nightmare told them the full truth...
Just as they know from their souls they can trust him, they know what he is telling them is true. It hits hard... Cross, who was often trying to help in the office would now understand that bitter-sweet expression Nightmare would give him when he says he wants to help or asks if he can help. Horror now understands why Nightmare looks sad while looking at them from time to time. Killer understands why Nightmare was so paternal to them at the start. Dust knows why sitting in the library near Nightmare always felt so familiar and calming.
I think they would feel a little frustrated that they weren't told sooner while also understanding that they wouldn't understand. Cross, though, will be the first to point out that he's happy he had a chance to just be a kid. Nightmare isn't a normal father, but the guardian did try to provide them with as normal of a childhood as he could. And... Dust agrees. And, of course, Killer would point out that this time around, he gets to call Nightmare 'dad,' and that no amount of facts about who he used to be will change that. Horror is grateful for the childhood they had with Nightmare.
Short answer: They would feel in their souls that he is speaking the truth to them. They will feel hurt this was a secret and then come to understand why it was. At which point, you better believe Nightmare is getting a hug from them all together. They saw all those years a hint of pain in his eye light and now they understand why. The poor guardian.... their guardian... has worked so hard to keep them safe and happy.

the men and boys are innocent too.
we cry "the innocent women and children" to appeal to the masses, to try and force their sympathy, but the men and boys are innocent too.
I have seen sons crying out for their mothers, their fathers, their siblings. I have seen them break down at the loss of their families. I have seen them cling to their dead and grieve.
I have seen fathers cradle their dead children, seen them kiss their faces and hold their little hands. I have seen them faint with grief when asked to identify the dead. I have seen them carry their sons and daughters. I have seen them fasting to provide what little they can for their families.
I have seen men and boys digging through the rubble with just their bare hands, I have seen them comforting strangers, playing with children, rocking them, hushing them, even if the face of such imminent danger. I have seen them cry, seen them grieve, seen them break down into each other's arms, seen them be selfless, beyond selfless, becoming something I don't have a word for.
I have seen the men who are doctors refuse to leave their patients, even when they have no medicine or supplies to give them, even when they're threatened with bombings. I have seen fathers who have lost all their children pick orphans up into their arms and proclaim them their child so they are not alone. I have seen men and boys digging pets out of the rubble.
the men are innocent too. the men and boys are being hurt and killed too. the men and boys are grieving too. the men and boys are scared too. the men and boys are fighting to save their people too. the men and boys deserve to be fought for too.

I could think of no better way to share the news than this!
So when I was 17, my cat went missing and I'd given up hope of ever seeing him again.
Until on Monday, 27th of May, 2024, my friend sent me a FB post asking 'isn't that your mother?' about the person named on the microchip.
Tumblr media
Here he is! 16 years old, and found safe, twelve whole years after he went missing!
Yesterday (Tuesday the 28th of May, 2024) I went to the rescue that had him, and I reclaimed my boy, renaming him Artie! (He'd originally been called 'Cat' because my mother and I couldn't decide on a name)
He's home safe with me now, currently inhabiting my bathroom and purring up a storm every time someone goes in there!
I'll be doing slow introductions between him and my current cat to give them the best possible chance of living in harmony!
Here's some pictures of Artie once we let him out of the carrier:

With The Boy and the Heron, Miyazaki really said: I accept that my legacy is out of my control, that my children may not be my successors, that this tremendous monument I've built with a lifetime of toil, this fiery blessing that simply fell out of the sky, may not continue without me, In fact, it may crumble to dust, I accept it because my children and their children are alive and well, in this imperfect world, and thats enough. Yes, I accept that this is the end, but God damn, I'll go out with a bang.

Am I saying this will be your new favourite show? That it will make you smile and shiver and puzzle and delight? That it's something really special? That it will ease the pain of waiting for other shows to happen?
Yes. I am saying that.
It's SO good. And it starts in three weeks...

I think in response to Twitter, Tumblr should make it so that you can't open any other apps on your phone until you've seen at least 600 posts for the day.
