so weird to me how yenna is just not a character. she seems to exist solely to fool you into suspecting her or get kidnapped. apparently she's supposed to sell soup but ive never gotten her to do that. like... what happened to her mom? what does she do once everything is over? is she supposed to be animated all jerky? is that just because orin is kind of animated like that? why can't i be friends with grub????

there aren't a lot of other characters that only exist to meet the needs of the narrative, so it's just kind of a writing hiccup i guess, but you can usually at least like... talk to them a little? feels unfinished

SKYYYYYY THE BOYYYY!!!! In past comics, Sky has said that playing the harp helps remind him of Zelda, and whatever they are playing seems to give good memories

I know I've already seen a few things talking about time and how he has the Zora guitar from MM, which I do think it's cool because it implies that Time still has the MM masks on him.

Not much to say about Hyrule, except for the fact you can see the wind I was talking about earlier, and I like the fact that he's playing a recorder, not a Flute, a flute would've gone to the side

What if after the characters hear our music they start subconsciously humming, or even singing it? After all the creator never has their computer volume on... exept this time we do! And we hear venti, or Barbara, or another character singing our favorite song A LOT. So much so that instead of the usual voices it's all song references and lyrics... I imagine it going something like this:

OR

So imagine your shock when you hear Venti sing your song. It was as shocking as Venti without his wine.

"Hehe~ Their Grace looks so flabbergasted!" Venti in the bg just cheering over the fact he made you shocked at his impression of your song!

Girlie is singing her heart out in the Church of Favonius, and everyone's there for it. 100% she has become the true Idol of Mondstadt.

Super excited and nervous at the same time when you put her in your party team (for whatever reason, only you will know), because this is a chance to show off her practice. She wants to impress you with the song she's heard you sing and hum to countless of times!

So the moment she let it slip through her idle animation, imagine her embarrassment as you flip out, questioning your life choices and your sleep deprivation

"S-Surely, I didn't scare Their Almighty Grace all too badly...?" Barbara's twiddling her fingers, contemplating if she should've done that in the first place, only to be reassured when the other nuns of the church mention that you were screaming how good it was (Ex. "HELLO???? BARBARA???? THAT WAS SO GOOD HELLO??? VOICE ACTOR BE POPPING OFF MAYBE??? THIS GLITCH IS AWESOME!")

Oh, she is going to rock'n'roll hard after this. She is definitely going to make a rock cover of your song and play it all through Liyue!

Gurl's on her merry way, practicing with her guitar and singing loud and proud! Yunjin be cheering her on in the background as she masters that small snippet of your favorite song >:D

And when it's her time to shine? When you finally give her the chance to perform? Sure, she's nervous—she's only got one shot, and who knows when the next one will come—but she's gonna rock this song with everything she's got, heart, soul, and mind!

The moment you see it happening, Xinyan's a little too into it to care of your reaction at first, pretty much having a blast at the lyrics and overall music composition.

But after? "Whoo, I sure hope Their Grace liked it...Maybe I should've taken in how they were reacting instead of going all out, hehe..." Her legs are kind of shaking from her nerves, but she swears she's fine!

Upon seeing how the citizens of Liyue Harbor are acting though, and with the amount of positive comments her friends kept giving her, Xinyan is calling her performance an absolute success!

She is definitely doing this again—10/10!

the usage of the "goldberg variations" in hannibal has always fascinated me, even more so now that i know the origin of why bach composed them in the first place:

so basically, the variations were created to soothe the count who was ill/sleepless which hannibal mirrors in the books (and in the silence of the lambs film) by being calmed by them. in fact, we are first introduced to hannibal in apéritif with one of the variations playing in the bg while he calmly dines on a fancy dish of people. then in fromage, hannibal plays the aria variation on the harpsichord after his fight with tobias, presumably to return to a state of stasis.

the next time we hear aria, it is a piano rendition in kō no mono when will and hannibal ritualistically devour the ortolans. it seems that will is a calming, grounding force for hannibal and it eventually becomes their shared melody. heartbreakingly, a song called "bloodfest" by brian reitzell which is based on the variations plays in dolce (when hannigram reunites in the uffizi gallery) and in digestivo (when they talk in the cabin after escaping muskrat farm).

a similar slowed down version plays in the series finale called "the wrath of the lamb, pt. 2 / bach aria, pt. 2" when will/hannibal are in the glass house, right before they defeat francis. even throughout the series, there are variations to the variations such as this, as well as hannibal's own composition "suite no. 4 - III. sarabande: la d'aubonne" by antoine forqueray & christophe rousset, which has similar vibes to the goldberg variations. perhaps inspired by them?

but the body of music isn't simply used as a calming metaphor or an ode to will - rather, it is a deeper, existential contemplation that was nicely summed up by jeremy denk & donald francis tovey: (Hannibal Lecter's Guide To The 'Goldberg Variations'; NPR):

the goldberg variations are a representation of a cycle, a reflection, a "becoming" of sorts; a longing to be free but also a cautionary tale that once someone is seen for who they truly are, there is no turning back. and in the blink of an eye, this beautiful lie that we call life is over.

Then came Ewan, ready to pose for the carpet, and as he did so, the paparazzi called out his name, making you turn from your side, and immediately break character.

Bowser isn't happy, as this is not who he wanted to marry, (even though Weeg is an absolute sweetheart and introduces him to polterpup a-la the wedding gift scene) and tries to ditch him and find Peach.

Peach tells him she's still not interested, and when Weeg catches up his feelings get hurt when he realizes he's not wanted, and after a piss poor attempt to smooth things over, Bowser gets his ass dragged back to ghost town.

Peach recognizes that Luigi looks familiar however, and runs off to tell Mario.

Then the piano playing make-up scene can commence (which might be the whole reason I came up with this AU lel). E. Gadd can be Elder Gutknect and reveal the marriage isn't valid oops. (not because Bows isn't dead though, it's just that saying a proposal out loud in the woods isn't a real way to marry someone LOL)

Bows overhears, but has come to like Weeg, and has accepted him and Peach ain't happening, so decides to marry him for real, aww.

Mario didn't initially believe Peach when she told him, but kinda has to when ghosts suddenly come out of the wood work into town, and oh, there's his dead bro getting married.

Mario interrupts because holy shit his bro is back from the dead. It seems like a happy reunion, but then King Boo shows up (maybe he can in the BG doing stuff in the lead up idk), reveals to audience and Bows he killed him by tricking him. KB had just been locked away bc ofc Mario and Peach went and kicked his ass after that.

They all kick his ass again, the ghosts and boos turn on him because they've come to adore their Corpse Bride and dont' want to listen to him anymore, and he's dragged into hell or whatever.

The boys finally get married and Bowser has a spooky perky goth bf. The end.
