• even though finnick must be a really good communicator i don’t think he’s a very good arguer. the art of persuasion? he’s got that down. negotiation? easy. arguing with annie when they’re upset? bye

• also since annie’s personality isn’t rlly on display in cannon im also gonna run w the Fiery Annie Cresta hcs bc i <3 those. so while finnick shies away from conflict she is a very argumentative person if the situation calls for it

• she’ll be like “>:(!!!!” but as soon as finnick starts returning the same energy she’s like woah woah woah. and then she bursts into tears

• no just kidding but she’s lowkey a hypocrite bc finnick will be like “i don’t like the way ur speaking to me” and she’s like “??? WHAT does that mean ???”

• i feel like tho when it’s a case of finnick being in the wrong they solve the problem very quickly and efficiently. meanwhile if it’s annies fault she has to take a long while to marinate in her embarrassment before reconciling. if it’s a case of them BOTH being more wrong than right then mags takes it upon herself to step in

• i mentioned this in the breakup hc list about them but i do think that even when they’re locked into the most intense passionate argument of their life they still cuddle when it’s time to go to bed

• but also annie is petty so they’ll be eating dinner and she’ll put something like salt or a pitcher of lemonade right out of reach and when finnick is like pass it over pls she’s like “huh?” as if it hadnt been her master plan for him to speak to her

• speaking of speaking, i think that their arguments either consist of nonstop communication or just radio silence. no in between

• HOWEVER since they’re cute and in love it gets resolved so quickly and then they’re like 💋💋💋 forever and ever

• their post argument tradition is baking a cake. then they go to the beach and split it with the picnic they packed

He asks her directly. His pretty new partner who has been treating him better in the past few weeks of working together than any of his former colleagues ever had. He wants to know what she really thinks of him. He wants to hear her articulate what everyone else whispers about him because, even though she’s nice, she surely must know that everyone thinks Fox Mulder is a fuckup.

But instead of saying why Colton finds him uncomfortable, admitting the distain they both know that man holds for him, Mulder watches his eloquent partner stumble over her words — he watches someone, for probably the first time in his life, try to spare his feelings. He smiles as she confidently states that he isn’t the problem, it’s his “reputation.” He wonders if she notices the way she’s shifted him from active antagonizer to passive recipient of a reputation he most certainly had a hand in creating. It was only their third case together and she was already treating the people who were unkind to him as simply misinformed.

He puts her out of her misery and offers to read aloud the word branded onto his chest that she was avoiding looking at. “Spooky?” Far more PG and polite than the words Colton would use to describe his discomfort.

When he says it, he can see from the way her lips purse together that she knows he understands all the sentiments that word stands in for. Freak. Loser. Joke. But what he doesn’t understand is why she isn’t finding the humor in it like he does.

The people who hate him — who think his theories are stupid, who think his work is a joke, who thinks his career is a failure — they think he’s spooky. People like that don’t matter to him. She clearly didn’t want him to know her friends from the academy thought of him that way, but it doesn’t bother him. It’s not like she-

His amusement falters ever so slightly as he realizes just how much he really likes this pretty new partner who spares his feelings. The exaggerated mask he wore to keep people like Colton away suddenly felt like poorly painted clown makeup in front of her.

He doesn’t want to make her uncomfortable.

Some fun updates!

Plan for episode 1 is complete (it took a while because to kick things off with a bang i felt we had to add in a few things else it’d just feel like you’re reading a book version of the show. Of course, other episodes will greatly vary in how canon or non-canon they are) either way, writing can start! (though im not sure public postings will happen until a few episodes in advance are written, in case someone gets hit by a bus, we can still keep regular updates for a bit)

Ive also spoken to Utopia and Void about adding more writers and artists. They were both skeptical but also i dont think they realised how big of a project this will be, and they didn’t wanna do any of the stuff they said they’d help with other than their One Favorite Scene and were shocked when it sank in that Im Thinking Of Every Episode, so i was like ‘u both know either we get help with this or its never getting completed’

sooo im now making a discord server and some sorta signups!!! Give me a while to set it up (im not great at discord admin stuff but we persevere) and you guys should be able to properly get involved with this :)

hear me out…. y’know how dan and graham both go to the companion support group? and how dan’s living with his parents because his alien dog miniaturized his house? ok ok and now. imagine graham offers for dan to move in with him. imagine they start hanging out and getting to know each other. imagine dan’s the final piece to helping graham move on, and graham’s a major help to dan (who’s so used to being the one to help everyone else around him). and. here’s the good part. they totally catch feelings for each other. a complete oh my god they were roommates moment
