Y’all it’s another rant, buckle up. . I want to talk about the WILDLY unrealistic standards we put on women and their bodies. . Cellulite is normal. Stretch marks are normal. Not having a perfectly flat stomach also fucking normal. I hate how much pressure we put on women and their weight. It’s so unhealthy. So today I decided to let y’all know what I weigh. . I’ve thought about doing this for a long time but have always been scared because it’s the heaviest I’ve ever been. But it’s also the strongest I’ve ever been. And I’m 6 sizes smaller than I was in high school 🤷🏻‍♀️ . YOUR👏🏼WEIGHT👏🏼DOESN’T👏🏼DEFINE👏🏼YOU . I weigh anywhere between 165 and 172 on any given day. Which according to #bmi makes me drastically overweight. And honestly this made me nervous for a long ass time. Because for years I’ve been told consciously and unconsciously that my weight defines my worthiness. The truth is, it does not have a fucking thing to do with it. . I love my body. I love how strong I am. I love how much weight I can pick up. I love how hard I can climb. I love how much of a @transformcolorado class I can crush. And still I often have that nagging voice in the back of my head telling me I shouldn’t weight this much. So today I’m sharing it with y’all to also share this. FUCK THAT VOICE. . You are so much more than a number on a scale or the size of your pants or anything else body related. You are a force of nature and your weight has nothing to do with how magical you are. Just some cozy Sunday vibes thinking about how cool my stretch marks are! I remember talking with a friend in eighth grade and commiserating about them. When I was in eighth grade, it was NOT okay to have stretch marks. If I did happen to see a stretch mark on a celebrity, it was always on the cover of a trashy tabloid with some heading like “SO AND SO ISN’T BEACH BODY READY”. They always had a negative connotation. Not to mention flipping through magazines like Teen Vogue (yes, not regular Vogue, Vogue marketed to TEENAGERS), and seeing advertisements for creams to blast away cellulite or erase stretch marks. So needless to say, it took a while for me to appreciate my stretch marks. But now I think they’re so cool. I like running my fingers along the back of my thigh and feeling those little ridges.
