Never been to Europe, writing two different stories taking place entirely in Europe (one of them stops in early America for a bit but it's not like I was there either).
So much research. So much visceral terror that someone from one of these countries, or regions even, is going to read this and be offended.
Best case scenario; they think it's funny.
I am aiming for that. If you come out of this thinking, "haha, stupid American thinks she knows things." I have succeeded.

Honestly I kinda want to see how you would draw venice (Masked oc of mine) because I love the way your draw.
why hello there silverstudios
praying that I didn't get anything wrong (the poofy shoulder things had me fighting for my life). Venice says hello to his creator,, he was very interesting to draw :]

*sidles up to you* VegasPete would totally find omegaverse hot.
(re: something knotty)
...ahhh. sure? i guess? VegasPete would be into it as a kink in the same way they're into anything that feeds into their "they are intensely overwhelmingly unhealthy-if-they-were-anyone-other-than-them obsessed with each other" kink. but tbh to me an omegaverse fantasy is a lot of setup for something that would be much more easily satisfied by any of Vegas's domestic house husband ventures and doesn't play enough into Pete's preferences for long periods of intense focus (ie he'd rather Vegas whip him vs knot him imo). like. okay, going to contrast KimChay and VegasPete for a quick second, but the differences in their kinks:
KimChay possession kink vs VegasPete obsession kink: i think Kim and Chay would be delighted in being mutually claimed or referred to as the other person's +1 of any sort (esp by other people, like "why yes i AM his boyfriend/clinger/whatever 🥰"). i think Pete and Vegas want the other to be completely obsessed with them, but being specifically referred to as anything besides the other's boyfriend/husband, esp by outside people, would Get To Them.
Kim and Chay have the vibe of wrapping themselves around each other constantly. their abandonment issues lead to them being very grabby and both find a certain amount of reassurance in a "he can't get away from me" fantasy. Vegas and Pete canonically Do Not Do Well when they're forced together without a choice or option to leave, even when they want to stay with the other.
Kim and Chay would both have fun with the fantasy and story of the kink. coming up with the "rules" (for lack of a better term) of their omegaverse kink, finding "special scents" together, "building a nest", etc--all that setup is further enrichment, they would have a lot of fun making it up. VegasPete would think its a lot of work just to fuck.
and tbh think omegaverse as a kink is a ripe ground for triggers for Pete and Vegas given how poorly they react to any sort of dehumanization (call one of them alpha/omega and see them spiral) and Vegas esp given Gun's whole...macho alpha guy bullshit.
i'm sorry nonny, i don't mean to step on your fun and feel free to ignore me if you want to run with the idea! but i personally don't see omegaverse-as-a-kink satisfying any of Vegas or Pete's kinks, and definitely not in the way omegaverse-as-a-kink could give Kim and Chay an outlet to indulge in a bunch of their kinks at once.

After reading Bitter Teeth and knowing you speak Italian, are there scenarios and stories you'd still like to explore having Italy as your background? And what are you favorite Italian historical periods to play with?
holy moly, months later she's finally decided to give you some sort of answer to a very interesting ask! :'0
i'm sorry i'm on my knees i'm grovelling cake i'm so sorry
i'll be honest, i love italy, i love italian, i love italians, and i would love to use it as a setting more often if it suits a fic - in a heartbeat. having been to a fair few areas now (Puglia you're next on my list bby i promise) there are such beautiful places i would love to use as backdrops, even for short works. a little romantic trip to Verona, a wet weekend in Venice, a sea swim in the marina in Naples across the bay from Vesuvius...
i think it helps with writing when you've been somewhere and can weave in personal experiences or even memories. i'd like to do it more in general, though i find my mind is not programmed easily for fluffy encounters haha. but i have fond memories of italy and i'd love to use them more as inspiration.
(what i'm trying to say is i suffered climbing up Vesuvius after a morning spent walking Herculaneum and i want someone - toni, south italy, whoever! - to feel my pain!)
anywho. as for historical periods... i dunno. as a student i only ever studied Risorgimento onwards, and very politically-based. i think the Renascimento in Florence would be interesting. i really loved visiting Davide and Venere haha (my duomo experience on the other hand...). and i'd love to learn more of Venice as a kingdom. Roman Italy i guess is a must, though i've already dabbled. otherwise, i'm not too sure....
though, when in Rome... i could send toni to walk around the Colosseum and Roman Forum omgggg... let him walk around and have his thoughts... a lil' character study...
i am never getting over leaving the Colosseum and finding a public water dispenser with sparkling water.......
OH THE TEMPLES! there were temples in the Forum! there's the Tempio di Antonino (e Faustina, ahem) and the Tempio di Romolo just across the way! i remember my mind working overtime with that nugget. the romespa was stalking me tirelessly on that part of my trip. and i'm yet to be cured!
anyways i hope that has in some way answered your question(?). i've not put much thought into the italies as characters themselves - i don't feel the same kind of draw to them that i feel with toni - but it would be curious to. i'd love to do more research into Venice during the times of the Ottoman Empire, in its sort of golden era. i'm sure i've seen a documentary or two, and i may even have a book... hmmm...
so many little threads to follow and not enough hours in the day, sadly, to do so :')
thank you for sending in the ask, it gave me an excuse to look back on some much loved holiday pics haha (and sorry again for taking my sweet time responding!) :)

Etc, etc, be your own fan artist…
Minor Visual Spoiler Warning!
A little lineup I started sketching of the characters in my first Big Finish audio drama, The House of Masks. You can find it in the Geronimo! Box set, featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Valarie Lockwood, which came out last October! This isn’t in any way official BF artwork or even really canonical to the story, I just loved the setting of 18th Century Venice, and the chance to dress everyone up for a Masquerade!
One thing I do like is that I could give each character a different Carnivale mask based on their personality: Sicura and the Doctor have full-face Volto masks (The Doctor has an Arlecchino, because of course he does), Riley has a Bauta mask, Tomasi has a Medico Della Peste, Valarie a Colombina Bird mask, etc. My Character Design brain is very pleased.

WIP Title Tag Game
tagged by @nibswrites thank you! <333
Prompt: Make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! And then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
I've been a busy bee with job applications but I just checked tumblr and thot this was cute! Unforty I don't like leaving things incomplete so my only WIP is the bg3 fic 😅 which is called "bg3 fic" lmao
