Tbh sometimes I cant even describe why I love The Crane Wives so much when someone asks. like idk man I guess its just how every one of their songs sounds like translating a poem into music with the instrumentals always seeming to perfectly encapsulate our raw humanity to remind you of how poetry spawns from love and grief with no place to sleep. or whatever

Not to get soppy on main but this album could literally have not come at a better time. I was feeling super down the day before the release and the boys came along and did what they always do - release an album that speaks to me on a level no other band can do. I don’t know how they always manage to write songs that make me go “Oh, that’s me. That’s exactly how I feel” but they do, time and time again, and I love them for it.

isle of flightless birds, implicit demand for proof, addict with a pen, save, blasphemy, drown, i need something to kill me, march to the sea, trapdoor, slowtown, forest, next semester, migraine, semi automatic, fake you out, fall away, taxi cab, a car a torch a death, glowing eyes, ode to sleep, holding onto you, and so many more. like so many of these songs mean the entire world to me they are sewn into my heart and traced into my being. they are branded onto the folds of my brain people it'll always be there.

literally this band changed my brain chemistry. there was finally a band that understood what i thought before any doctor caught it. there were people who understood. there were songs i could relate to then proceed to give me hope that "the sun will rise and we will try again" that despite whatever you've done there's always another day if you need it. that you can change. that "life has a hopeful undertone". that despite whatever hardship, whatever you believe, you can always heal. always recover and that's something special.

Today marks the first day I post a blog about what my life is like and I hope you all enjoy.

Yesterday(1/30/24), I went to the Beartooth concert, which was terrific. The lead singer, Caleb Shomo, is the best performer, and the crowd is alive. His band, Beartooth, chose three great opening acts, and I can't wait to see them live again next time sold out in a stadium.
