Regarding your post about Gwen almost becoming a mad scientist to protect Peter, but backing off after learning he's Spiderman. What if that didn't make her back off, but instead made her more worried, because he's not just putting himself near danger. He's actively throwing himself right infront of it.

My line of reasoning was that she was gearing up to become Spiderman’s mad scientist villain as a way of protecting Peter Parker, and knowing that they’re the same stops her from becoming a villainous mad scientist

What were you thinking tho? Mad scientist ally with looser morals to protect him? Or mad scientist trying to take him down but her reasoning is that it’s for his own good?

I gotta admit, I am a slut for the trope where the hero’s greatest enemy is their old superhero partner/sidekick/ally who became a villain as a way of “protecting” the hero when they start to see how badly being a hero affects them, mentally and/or physically
