Sorry for the long hiatus! Life, huh?
I don't have much time for art sO i offer to you an ANALYSIS/HEADCANON POST.
Sharkanalysis is ONCE AGAIN back.
Today we are talking about ....Skybound Jay. I know this has been a topic that has been going around a lot the past few months for some reason but im in constant brainrot about it. (This also delves into the other seasons too) But I'm mainly talking about how Jay's response to trauma changes after Skybound.
In Skybound this is VERY evident with how he completely hides what happened to him on the ship. Usually Jay would infodump about what he went through but he just keeps it to himself. He just tells Cole, when he is found, that he was forced to "clean a lot." And avoided talking about his eyepatch. And when he had to explain why he couldnt summon his dragon, again he said it was because he was "too tired." When in reality, we know he was tortured a LOT.
And if you think about it, even though Nya remembers Skybound she still doesnt know what happened on the ship. Canonically, we never see Jay explaining it to her.
He literally keeps it all to himself. Which is such an interesting coping mechanism since he's so known for "panicking" and 'hiding behind his team."
You can really see Nadakhan's effects on him. He goes from stupid panicking where he's screaming and running behind his team in the earlier seasons to full on mental breakdowns like in Hunted and Crystallized where he pretty much becomes so unstable he cant function normally. Where he either isolates himself or loses hope in life.
It's such an interesting character arc for him. I'd love to see his trauma delved into more.

So I’ve been thinking, The citizens of Ninjago REALLY should’ve started evacuating ninjago durring a dinner with Nadakhan after Gale Gosup gave the report about floating islands and her and Vinny were shot out of the Sky.
Like your land is currently being stolen up into the sky and hovering over like a thousand feet up above you?! And your just gonna stay there and go about your day like everything’s fine!?!?
Additionally maybe they had already evacuated considering Wu and the ninja replacements had a group of like 20 people just standing in the street?!? Like they cut to it when the island started falling, no one paid attention, because Nya was dying, but like look at how dumb this looks
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND They only started running when the island started falling A piece of it almost hit them because they’re just standing in a group staring up….
Look at those perfectly usable vehicles behind them get in the damn bus 😭 WHY ARE YOU STANDING WAITING FOR YOUR CUE TO START RUNNING.
At least they do start run eventually. Do they use the cars like smart people? Of course not, don’t expect that much from them. They’re trying their best.
ALSO WHY WERE VINNY AND GALE SO SHOCKED THAT THERE LAND WAS UP THERE Earlier, huh?
Djinjago is incredibly visible. YOU’RE TELLING ME THAT THEY DIDNT SEE THIS?! THOSE CLOUDS AREN’T COVERING SHIT!!!
Tumblr media
I love Skybound writing sometimes.

hello!
Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas 🎄🎁🎉 😄
I was gonna ask when the series had gone on a little longer, but since you got gifted "Do A Powerbomb", I was wondering if you'd checked out DWJ's Transformers run?
Have a wonderful day! 🌠
I have! I've been following it as it comes out and was completely enamored with it by the end of the first issue, which is why I wanted to read Do a Powerbomb (which also completely owns)
After IDW lost the Transformers license I kind of dreaded what a new publisher might do with the property. IDW had pushed Transformers into so many new and exciting directions over the years, giving me some of my favorite Transformers stories ever and shaping other parts of the franchise for years to come (and also making a ton of Transformers canonically queer). The last thing I wanted was for a new publisher to throw all that out and just go back to square one with easy G1 cartoon nostalgia. Especially after I ended up being really unenthused with the post-continuity reboot "IDW2" era, I worried that it could be years and years before we got another new Transformers comic that really spoke to me like the MTMTE/RiD era did
And then Daniel Warren Johnson's Transformers dropped from Skybound. Despite leaning so hard into G1 cartoon aesthetics, and despite being part of a new shared universe with the okay-but-not-amazing Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman and some GI Joe comics I don't really care about, I was cautiously optimistic because I'd previously heard really good things about DWJ's other work. And I've just been absolutely blown away by it. It's already one of the greatest Transformers comics ever made
From the very first page you can tell it's doing new things with the traditional Transformers iconography, while also tapping into the heart of the series better than anything else I've seen in years. The hand-inked art can be a little loose and messy, but that helps give it so much energy, ESPECIALLY in the inventive fight scenes. Whether it's vehicle mode action, Optimus doing literal wrestling moves on Decepticons, or even just a panel of someone transforming, there is SO much life in all of DWJ's drawings. But he also cares about tying things to the human cast in really compelling ways. We've already gotten so many good scenes between the robots and the humans that give it so much heart. The deer scene with Optimus and Spike went viral for a reason, it was instantly one of the best Optimus Prime scenes ever written. It's not just about the robots or the humans, it's about the dichotomy between them. He gets it
I love a lot of IDW's comics that are just about robots interacting with other robots many light years from Earth and barely ever even transforming on the page, but like. This is the comic you wanna hand to someone to be like "This is what Transformers is about. This is why it fucking rules"
Seriously, though. Anyone with even a passing interest in Transformers should be reading these. I am constantly on the edge of my seat waiting for the next issue these days. Look, Optimus literally suplexes Starscream in the first fucking issue YOU HAVE TO READ THIS

man I'm rewatching skybound (help) to focus on the misfortune crew so here's a kinda long ramble about Flintlocke and Nadakhan friendship below
the way Flintlocke's voice shakes when he says to Nadakhan he's doing a mutiny. when he says "stay right there"
I know it's most likely from fear, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was out of a broken heart too like- it's his captain. one he has most likely spent years at sea with. the one he'd trust with his life, and must've done so. most likely his best friend. AUGH
And how Nadakhan reacts to it, too! he gets angry, he doesn't believe what he's hearing! how dare they not trust him? (gee I wonder why)How is Flintlocke daring him to change things around?
Can you imagine watching someone you care about diving into some kind of infinite madness, and you not able to do shit about it? And it's not like Flintlocke could help much. Since yknow Nadakhan just lost all his people in a single moment after spending 300 years inside a teapot, and after losing the one he loves, too. And he sees something is wrong the moment he sees Nya. He knows Nadakhan too well, and I take it he's used to the captain sharing plans with them if he's already hella suspicious when Nadakhan doesn't tell him what he has in mind when coming back from Djinjago
And he's not the only one; like the whole 'close' crew (as I like to call them) notices how their captain is kinda getting distant? and losing it
But like what are you supposed to do about that? especially since they're pirates, and the captain has to be kind of scary if he still wants to handle psychopaths under an iron grip of some sort
And they were ready to trust him. To the end, I guess.
fuck! Nadakhan just ruined all that was left to him during skybound, didn't he? what a fucking idiot.
And Jay was this close to do the same with his own friends huh (NOT TO THAT EXTENT GUYS COME ON-)
I just love to think of parallels between Jay and Nadakhan. Cole and Flintlocke. The obvious (? I'm not really sure about this one) but awfully made Delara Nya one (not saying I made a good one in my fic either but eh)
But they're pirates. They're not good people, and Nadakhan is a fucking bitch. You have on one side how Arrakore dealt with the loss, and on the other, Nadakhan's, who was probably so used to being a prince and stuff he just- ugh.
But that doesn't mean they don't have emotions, which I'm trying to write about
also I'm noting Clancee probably noted Nya resembling Delara when he gave Nadakhan the newspaper. But he didn't say anything. Hm. I'm keeping that in mind.
anyway. back to writing I goooo

What I wish each season dived more into cause I really think Tournament of Elements didn’t do Kai well:
-Pilots: Fine. They’re pilots it’s meant to be a test.
-Rise of the Serpentine: The team training and actually becoming better Ninja, I mean it’s expressed but not shown that well.
-Legacy of the Green Ninja: Lloyd not only training but having deal with the fear of fighting his father and losing his childhood, I mean bros life was flipped all over the place by the prophecy.
-Rebooted: Just Zane. Lloyd took up a lot of the season sadly, I still like it but it doesn’t feel like a Zane season.
-Tournament of Elements: Kai finally letting go fully of not being the green Ninja.
-Possession: The ninja having to fight without their elemental powers for once, relearning a little of their old skills
-Skybound: Honestly it’s already great for Jay, I just wish we got to see more of his fear of losing Nya, the girl he liked who didn’t see him as a junkyard boy.
-Hands of Time: Kai and Nya as brother and sister. Like we don’t see much of their dynamic post S1 after she revealed herself as SamX.
-Sons of Garmadon: Lloyd missing his father, and more with Harumi.
-Hunted: Honestly it’s already great with characters and plot, I just wish we got to see more despair with everyone being separated and believing they’d never see each other again.
-March of the Oni: Just explanations, where did the Oni come from, why did they leave the first realm, why were they corrupting the other realms???
-SotFS Part 1: Just more the actual element of fire, Kai lost it for the entire part so I don’t see how it’s a season focused on the element.
-SotFS Part 2; More showcasing of Zane’s Ice abilities than just him sitting in a chair, I wanna see something like the fight with Asphera in the garage.
-Prime Empire: Just anything on lightning. Each WildBrain season was meant to focus on an element and we got nothing on lightning!
-Master of the Mountain: I really think the Spinjitzu Burst is the only thing I’d wanna see more on. It was already pretty Earth focused.
-The Island: Despite having no main element showcased I think it would’ve been cool to see Wu or Misako being the protagonists. They could easily flesh out the lore of Ninjagos prehistory which is the main theme of the special.
-Seabound: Just Nya and her mom. I know it already had some good character moments but I feel like it gets resolved too quickly.
-Crystalized: I just seriously need an explanation on the crystals. I mean I really like how the Season was a compilation of plot points from earlier seasons like a sendoff to Tommy. But please what are those crystals??? Also more Harumi motivations and why she likes Lloyd, it’s fun connecting the dots but it’s more fun with a canon reason yk.
-Dragons Rising S1: Lloyd’s despair that he definitely faced in the few years since the merge. He deserves a depression cat or two.

Dr pt2 spoiler warning
This was a fantastic set of episodes
• Kai and wyldfire are everything. Kai having to deal with someone who acts like he did in the earlier seasons is poetic justice and funny as hell.
• I also like how they kinda tried to explain why Kai seemed calm after sea bound and nyas seaifcation. I guess Kai meditating with wu would make him calmer. At least it confirms that Kai was upset (even if they didn’t show it)
•I am kinda upset that nothing from skybound was brought up with the Djinn. I personally don’t really like skybound but I still find that it could be used more than just oh yah that happened right wink wink. I mean we had to suffer through skybound for something right?
• I actually really liked sora and nyas whole plot with the Djinns curse. It was fun and had a nice conclusion.
• Coles return is great I love his little gang in the land of forgotten things. My favorite has to be the skeleton girl (I forgot her name probably cuz they only say it like 2 times) she’s funny.
• I do wish there was a scene where nyas like btw I found Cole and the other ninja react. I mean she does mention it at the end but no one except Zane has any real reaction.
• Beatrix going off the rails was really funny. It felt like someone gave a teen with daddy issues an insta death weapon.
• rapton switching sides kinda came out of left field for me. Like the guy isn’t the brightest bulb in the box I think it would be more likely for other characters to switch sides. Also how did he recover from being tased so quickly? Man was out cold and not two minutes later he was up and walking around.
• kinda felt that the whole being sucked into non existence should have had more lasting effects (totally not because I want to traumatize or brutally injure Kai no why would I want that /s) tho fake out deaths are pretty par for the course with ninjago, this one actually didn’t make me feel all that much cuz I knew the moment wyldfire got pulled in that this was a fake out. They wouldn’t kill one of there new characters that quickly.
•so wus just legitimately fudging dead. Never thought we would see the day when this old mad would just peace out. Also ghost wu legit looks like he’s slowly loosing his form or something cuz in the first half he appears with his full body but in the last scene he’s in he’s just a chest and a head. It might have just been a stylistic thing tho.
•I’m not mad jay only showed up for around 30 seconds (this just might be my bias tho cuz jays probably the ninja I care the least about, not that I hate him or anything he’s just not that interesting to me) it’s kinda refreshing for me cuz nya gets to be her own character for a bit and not be completely attached to Jay and Jay gets to take up less screen time (if I am being honest Jay had so much focus in the wild brain seasons it kinda got annoying to me personally) idk if he’s actually lost his memories or if that leak is wrong cuz it would make sense cuz he has not searched for the ninja (specifically nya cuz that man is a simp for his gf) Arin missing him by a second is hilarious to me.
•not sure about how I feel about Lloyd being the linchpin for the entire thing. Part of me thinks that it would have fit the shows themes better if all of them used their elemental powers or something else to power the cores to fix everything. But another part of me understands that Lloyd get main character privileges cuz he’s the son of ninjago god.
•still kinda frustrated that they are changing how elemental powers work. Originally they were from the first spinjitzu master, but the whole source dragon being the source (for lack of a better word) of the elemental powers, it completely retcons and nerfs the first spinjitzu master. It would have made more sense if they still came from the powers of the fsm and were gifted through the source dragons to people.
•the implication of the cursed realm merging with the rest of the realms brings up the question if the departed realm merged to? Does that mean no one can die??? Or is there some sort of force that still keeps the departed realm separated from the rest (like how the people in the land of the forgotten can’t leave) or can some dude just wander in to the departed realm and see like there dead grandma chilling with the fsm having tea or some crap like that.
•Lloyd going I forgot there are two of them now towards Kai and wyldfires antics is peak writing. And all the arson and explosions the two created is just beautiful.
•I think the Kai and wyldfire duo should be called like the arsonist or the kaboom duo
•THE HUGGG!!!! My boi was so happy looking when the tackle hug was done.
•I just cant get my brain to shut up about these two. They give off tired dad who sometimes gives in to his old chaotic ways he’s sworn he’s grown out of and living embodiment of chaos and fun daughter who drags her dad into crazy things.
Tdlr I loved this second half and had a few issues with it but it was still really good.

a very dear headcanon to me in 3
2
1
yeah yeah okay okay all you want
rgb siblings is very cute and all that, but you can't change my mind about Lloyd seeing Jay and Nya as parentals figures. no. no you can't.
this is my religion and i belive in the jaya parents for lloyd and I'll take this hc to my death bed.
like one time, when Lloyd was still a child, but also after some time from "child's play" (don't really remember if this was the name of that episode, but you get it) and so around Nya's age, he called Nya mom by accident, and she was like "omg how you just called me-" (and if you think about her growing without one is even better) and then she was like the most Lloyd had spend his time with on the bounty, so for me it make so much sense, but keep listening.
yesterday i read this really cute oneshot where jay comforted lloyd and had some cute time together and then this really grow strongly on me (sorry i can't remember the name but it was really good and cute i can't.. but it was like arin & agentwalker bonding and then younglloyd & youngjay also bonding) (<- i really recommend it, it's on Ao3) anyway- (after a brother) he sees jay, with the years going on, more and more like a father
(cuz the brother role for him is mostly occupied by kai ofc)
anyway, also jaya was the firt couple that lloyd has seen and grow with even before pixane, and don't even get me start with when they broke up and lloyd was really sad for like the first months, hoping that they could go back together again (and when he sees them after all that trauma called "skybound" although some years had passed, he was happy that they were back again)
and yeah, you think now that he is all grown up, and everything, he changed his mind? I'll answer that for you
NO. NO. AND NO.
even if Lloyd did not call jaya dad or mom, he still sees them as, metaphorically talking, parents, and when he really need like a motherly hug or a fatherly talk he goes to them, and absolutely love and feels a child again when the three of them are together (even if it doesn't seem so from like Motm, but trust me, I'm like this to. like from my face it seems like am bored, but inside am so happy while doing something that i like, it's simply called teenage life... or trauma in their case)
anyway, i don't really remember anymore what i wanted to say, but I'll conclude saying that when Nya and Jay fights over something, Lloyd's "sad" too, or when they go out on a date or just act like a married couple he's just so happy. Let's talk seriously now, they're the first couple he's met since he was like 10 and he subconsciously associates them as second parents, so it's obvious that sometimes he feels like he's their child when he's with them.
(also don't totally saying that now his couple standards got better after skybound and ALSO after seabound... let's pretend all that harumi and lloyd stuff doesn't exist in this)
i know, you don't even know anymore why you reading this, and i don't even know what to write anymore, but if want to end this post well, i had to..
(its a really big SPOILER for DR2 Pt1 so read at your own risk)
now Kai isn't there again, but even before, they hadn't seen Jay, so now Lloyd is alone with her mother Nya (and also the others yeah but) and this means that his "parents" and brother aren't there for him (again) and i can't wait any longer for all the oooh so lovely angst- HELP ME)
okay, finally I'm done. thank for listening to... this.

Jay and Ronin headcanons and personal opinions because of my last post:
Why they could have been good friends:
• Ronin is a thief - Jay is a little bit of a pirate (Jay could have been a great pirate, you can't change my mind).
• Ronin doesn't think that stealing is a bad thing because he is a thief. I believe that Jay thinks the same way:
When the ninja wanted to take the airjitzu papyrus from Ronin's shop in Stiix and Jay became a leader, his first thought was to steal the papyrus. He also tried to make stealing sound like a nice/positive thing in that situation by saying things like: "we are stealing from a thief", "we are stealing something someone stole so we can give it back to the original owner (after using it)".
Stealing is still bad no matter the final result but neither Ronin nor Jay think that way.
Also, Jay had no problem stealing those ninja chips in skybound. He was hungry, yes, but he was still going to steal.
• Both Ronin and Jay value money a lot:
I don't know Ronin's back story so i don't know why he values money so much but he definitely does for some reason. You can see it in many of his lines and through his actions.
Jay on the other hand wanted so much to be rich in skybound. He thought money could impress the girl he loved. He was also sad and embarrassed in general about the fact that he was poor.
• They are both betraying others:
Ronin betrayed the ninja lots of times and Jay did too in Skybound
• They both use fake personalities to get what they want/they are manipulative:
Ronin manipulated the ninja in possession and skybound by acting like a nice guy to get what he wanted and reach his goals.
Jay also uses a fake personality. His 24/7 smile is fake to me. He might use it, to cheer his friends and himself up, to hide his true emotions and feelings, to hide his real and honest thoughts, to keep enemies guessing, to look innocent, weak and even stupid while in reality he isn't and probably, to seem like he doesn't care about anything or anyone (like he doesn't need help). No matter what, he still manipulates others to think he is someone else and hides his actual personality. I can see Jay wearing an invisible mask, that thing being stuck on his face, he got so used to it that now he doesn't even know who he actually is anymore.
• They are both liars:
Ronin lies a lot to everyone in order to reach his goals. I remember that time in Seabound when he made the wooden Wo-Jira.
Jay also lies, during skybound especially, but i think he also lied to the other ninja about his home (he didn't want to say that he lived in a junkyard) and about the skybound events after his last wish. I don't believe he told them the truth about Nadakhan right away. Also, he lied to Nya about the Fangpyre's bite and how he almost became a serpentine on their first date.
• Both Jay and Ronin were probably born poor (I'm talking about Ed and Edna) and abandoned by their parents (Cliff and Libber). I think Ronin was also abandoned by his parents when he was a baby.
............................................................................
So, yeah... in conclusion, i believe that Jay and Ronin could have been good friends if things were different for them and if they had met each other differently.
(Jay is so relatable to me, I'm kinda worried now)

Here's the Ninjago timeline as I personally think of it;
- The Pilots and first 2 seasons take up roughly 1.5 years (Lloyd's 2020 if you will) mostly to give a semi-realistic measure of training requirements
- Rebooted (s3) starts a year later due to the insane technical development and that they've been teachers for a bit
- ToE (s4) starts 8 months later given they all left to grieve Zane and Jay has an entire game show thats got returning contestents
- Possesion (s5) i think is about 3 months after season 4. Shadow of Ronan takes place during this span so it fits that he stole about 2.5 years from them. Tbh I think that museum visit was the first or second mission Lloyd went on after leaving to grieve Garmadon
- Skybound (S6) technically doesn't matter ayoo!! But I think its another 4 months after S5
- DotD is 7 months after Posession, to make space for Skybound and potential post-skybound happenings
- Hands of Time (S7) is like a week after DotD at most- they're literally cleaning up after it. I also think it takes about a week to play out
From here on out there's a wrinkle in the timeline so things may be soft rebooted or altered
- Sons of Garmadon and Hunted (S8/9) start I think 6-8 months later because the Ninja deserve more time to have been on their own without a mentor- and Ninjago city gets some major changes (royalty?) And Lloyd gets on Testosterone and it goes on i think for 3 months
- March of the Oni (S10) is a few weeks after Hunted ends and only lasts like a few days
- Forbidden Spinjitzu (S11) canonically a few months after MotO so I'm going to say 3-4 since that's reasonable for them to slack off before Wu gets pissy about it. I also think these two parts are actually a rather long time frame- not only because of the 70ish years of Ice Emperor rule- but between searching for Aspheera and beating her, then grieving again and traveling realms and THEN they're there for a long while? All in all I'm going to say start to finish its like 3 months
- Prime Empire (S12) about a month after returning from the Never Realm- they've healed wounds, Kai re-masters fire, and Zane has erased 3 Terabytes of SSD data- all is well
- Master of the Mountain (S13) I think is roughly 2 months after S12 because again there's no real basis for why there's time between but I can't imagine one week your Kirito from SAO and only like a week later your in the Elven lands-
- The Island/Seabound (S14) i think this one is a few weeks after MotM because it starts off as a rather "small scale" job about busting a smuggler and thats what I figure they do in the months between big seasons. It just so happens that expands into a much larger plot.
- Crystalized (S15) 1 full year exactly after Seabound ends. Can't elaborate because this ones actually canon
- Dragons Rising I think the merge is about half a year or so after Crystalized and the jump from Merge to current story I think is 3 years but my girlfriend says 5 years so we'll see if either get confirmed or elaborated on
If you think they're about 18 in the pilots, that'll make them around 23 at Crystalized and between 26/28 during Dragons Rising

So like- it’s so funny to read SS say “the squishies are trying to fight?” Out of context but in context it’s actually so disturbing???? Like I’m laughing but also why Starscream? Why are you like this?
I love Optimus Prime so much he’s so cool. The amount of emotion shown when Bumblebee died was just- AHHHH I feel so bad for him and I can see how devastated he is. He clearly values all form of life (he holds the deer similarly to how he held BB and seemed genuinely remorseful for accidentally crushing it) and is kind of having a horrible time so far. I wanna see him fight some decepticons. I also like how the humans are being utilized, they are small and weak compared to the transformers but they are able to help in ways that are surprising. Spike and Carly greatly helped Optimus Prime escape by just pushing the gun and the fact that they know earth and the area allowed them to give the Autobots a place to hide and recover for a bit. The guy with the Duke tag idk if that’s his name but I don’t know why it wouldn’t be (I don’t do military stuff) was able to temporarily take down Starscream and escape, which is about as good as one can hope for. The decepticons have been brutal so far and I can’t wait to see what will happen when Megatron shows up. Which I am assuming he will do because of one of the covers for I think issue 5.
Carly is great I love her, I love her dad he seemed cool and I’m sad he is dead :(
Love this new world so far, so glad I live fairly close to a comic store. I’m going to try to exclusively just get the OP covers because they look soooo good. I love the art style. Also the Starscream cover (where you can see the guy in the fighter jet going at him) also looks really great I just love how Optimus Prime looks especially in the art style.

The mood this year, as this header photo demonstrates, was Le Tired. Just physically and emotionally slogging along. Brain stuck on perpetual static. A pull-the-covers-over-my-head sort of year. I read a few books, watched a lot of shows, found new songs to listen to on repeat, and spent way too much time futzing around on Tumblr.
But that's not what this post is about! This is to remind myself that I did accomplish writer-ly things this year, even if it didn't feel like it sometimes. So here's my 2023 Fandom Year in Review:
Drarry
🐈 A Dreadful Invasion (of the Feline Persuasion) rated G | 6K words
Most of the time, it’s easy for Harry to forget that Draco Malfoy is his next-door neighbour—until the night Malfoy seemingly goes round the twist in his back garden. Of course Harry has to investigate. A birthday gift for @caroll-in.
🍷 Under the Table rated T, 4K words
A string of nearly-insufferable dinner parties has made Draco acquainted with Harry Potter’s completely insufferable, social-climbing boyfriend. But tonight it seems like Potter’s finally had enough, and Draco’s more than happy to watch it all play out from across the table.
Microfics: Different  |  Thalassophile  |  Role play  | Careless |  Mama’s Gun  |  Raven  |  You Should Probably Leave  |  Afraid of the Dark  |  Eerie
WIP progress: I added about 25K to my Drarry retelling of Howl's Moving Castle. The working title is "Skybound" and it will be about 55 to 60K words when complete (by spring 2024, god help me!). Featuring: lots of banter, secret identities, adventures and misadventures in a floating house, a plucky house-elf, and (of course) a fire demon who wants to make a bargain.
9-1-1 fics, HP recs, and 2023 highlights under the cut!
9-1-1/Buddie
🌧️ It pours, man it pours rated T | 11K words
An endless rainstorm. A head-on collision on a dark canyon road. Eddie and Buck find themselves stranded with a woman in labor after they’re cut off from the rest of the 118 by a flash flood. With the fate of their team unknown, can they weather the night ahead—and mend the rift Buck caused by trying to kiss his best friend?
💣 A Few Good Pranks rated T | 4K words
The firefighters of the 118 decide to give Bobby a turn at pranking them after seeing how disappointed he was to be left out. And since two heads are better than one, why not three? Or four? If only they could figure out who's pranking and who isn't, and who the intended victim is. It's all in good fun, though—as long as everyone is too distracted to notice that Buck and Eddie keep sneaking off alone.

HP Rec List
I was inspired by this post to rec twelve favorite fan works from 2023 in twelve days in December. It actually took fourteen days, but I did it!
💖 12 Favorites from 2023 💖
(after posting those twelve, of course I thought of a few more faves that I missed. I'll try to share them soon!)
2023 Highlights
I'm so very grateful for the wonderful, funny, imaginative people here who shared their creative works, the memes that made them laugh, photos of their pets, gif sets of shows I didn't know I needed to watch, and insights into the characters we love. You all got me through the year, honestly.
I had a good time doodling some Halloween treats for Inbox Trick-or-Treating. I hope it will become an annual Tumblr event! Thanks to the folks who rang my doorbell that night and the other blogs who gave out treats.
I truly treasured every kudos, comment, and rec I received this year. I was also very fortunate to receive a few special gifts:
🎙️ EllaMcSmellBella recorded a Podfic of "Spooked in Salem," my Drarry 'Round the World fic.
🎙️ Spades/bumblingbees recorded a Podfic of "Crimson Neon."
📕 @cheriecherishchen wrote a lovely rec for "Vortex" and designed gorgeous book covers for that fic and its sequel, "Riptide."
✏️ @saijordison drew this incredible piece of art for "Riptide."
And finally, if you read all the way to the end of this post, I'm grateful for YOU. 😁
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year and an excellent 2024!

Alright here we go, another ramble. (I'm gonna be known for these by now aksdj)
This time it's about the OG four. So as I was thinking about them today I really thought about how much of a connection they have compared to their connection with Lloyd, Nya, etc.
(Now look, this ramble has no hate towards them, in fact, I think that Lloyd, Nya, and Pixal have their own little mini family dynamic going on that I absolutely adore!)
But as I was thinking about It I realized it was because its true. They do have more of a connection, because they have more of a history. Especially with the OG 3, they had known eachother for a while (the timing is debated but I personally think years) before Kai and his sister were introduced, and whenever they were, Kai was accepted almost immediately. Those four were raised together in a confined space, trained together, and went on missions together. Of course they'd be tight knit! Nya was with them, yes, but in the show they hardly interacted (evident with the fact they didnt notice she was the samurai) and she had her own room while they all slept in one. She would also usually hang back on missions, usually alongside lloyd whenever he finally joined the group.
Those four definitely have a real connection, and I think in a way it could be power based. You see, the element of Creation used to be encompassed in a single person, Master Wu. I'm not necessarily sure how, but I perosnally believe that Wu seperated his power as a teen and hid it within 4 individuals, similar to what he did to the golden weapons. (this is why we rarely see him use his powers now, and when we do theyre very small scale.) But because of this, these four people would naturally be drawn together! Their elements crave connection, creation. We see this with the fact the tornado of creation can exist, its literally the connection of their elements.
They are soulmates, all four of them. This isnt polyninja agenda (or is it) its just facts. Lloyd is their baby brother, Nya is their little sister/soulmate, Pixal is a welcome part of the family, etc. But these four are what started the show, what made the ninja ninja. That's why i appreciated Hunted so much. We saw them just being them four again, their relationship and interactions with just eachother, something we rarely see nowadays with ninjago's obsession with them and girls.
I dont like to phrase it as a "boy club" that Nya phrases it as in skybound. I just think its what happens when you stick four little kids together in a confined space and raise them like that. They just tend to connect on a deeper level than those around them.
Anyways. OG Four Soulmates Agenda.

This Topic is exhausting, I know more than anyone.
I have been avoiding seriously posting about it for a while. (Much prefer the fun of less heavy shrieking)
BUT with DM’s and a comments I’ve gotten recently it feels really important too.
Months ago, I searched for anyone who said what I felt about S6, and found nothing really. (Except fics and their comments) So I created my essays.
EVER SINCE I’ve been noticed I’ve been swarmed of stories of people also affected by Skybound. Like everyone was just waiting for someone to say it. Which is validating but way more concerning.
Most are DMs but this is a comment I got.
V under cut CW: SA discussion and vent.
Tumblr media
I’m not here to slander Ninjago writers or anyone who likes Skybound heck I Love/hate it. I’m also not here to debate how much is ok for kids to see….. yet.
My goal here is as it’s always been, to spread awareness of Skybound’s mishandled underlying themes of predators, sexual assault and disregarded consent, overlapping with the upfront misogyny that has bugged me for YEARS.
Things I’ve said for anyone who doesn’t know what I’m on about
Nadakhan Mechanic
The Video with most SA Implications
There’s more I haven’t gone over. Currently planning an essay to underline everything but it’ll take time. Right now I’m mainly searching for real answers for why Skybound is the way it is.
Feel free too share your experiences! you’re not alone. And It helps my writing.
This is important to me so any reblogs are Greatly appreciated!!!

I just had a MASSIVE realization about Ronin's actions during The Island.
Looking at all of Ronin's other actions throughout the series, he always seems to have some kind of proper motivation. During Possession, it was paying a debt to free his cursed soul. During Skybound, he captured the ninja so his criminal slate could be cleared. By the time season 7 has rolled around, he has a pawn shop and he seems to have mostly settled down.
So what was his motivation during The Island? Money? That didn't make much sense to me at all. Sure, he likes cash, but what was he going to do with it? He'd been bounty hunting, he already had a source of income. He was turning things around in his life. So what changed? It didn't add up.
Unless, of course, we take these lines from Garmadon into consideration:
Upon being asked, during episode 20 of Crystallized, how he knew the Overlord would return, Garmadon answers this:
"I may have trouble understanding empathy, but anger and hatred are simple. I felt them growing all around me."
Judging by the fact that, despite seeming angry and hateful towards the ninja in the beginning of Crystallized, he later on defends them and makes the choice to help them, then the Overlord's influence on greater Ninjago realm could have gotten to him, too.
Ronin specifically tells Lloyd that not everyone can be a hero- that's the kind of thing that somebody angry and filled with hatred towards the world would say.
Notice how anger and hatred are not only the specific things he likely feels in the time before the Overlord makes his return, but also the specific things Garmadon points out as being symptoms of the Overlord's growing power. Maybe he wasn't directly targeted, sure, but Wu received a lot of newspaper clippings. Ronin wasn't the only one to be particularly crime-filled during that window of time.
Once the Overlord finished gaining his own vessel, his influence on Ninjago itself waned because he was more concentrated in a single location. It explains why so many Kryptarium prisoners were willing to follow Ronin when it came to helping the ninja- they weren't being powered by the growing anger and hatred anymore.
Sorry if this post seems stupid, I had an epiphany and I felt the need to make it. It seems logically sound to me, but I know not everybody will agree. I also haven't watched The Island in a while so bear with me please!

(mention of torture and Skybound)
Hey y'all remember that one time Jay died? No? Good. cuz he's apparently the invincible one he doesn't die. As a Jay enthusiast I'm surprised to say he survived Skybound with only Slight scaring and terrible mental mindset unlike some ninja's (Zane)
But seriously tho Jay to my knowledge has not died (not in game) once he's come'd close but never actually dies, his ass survived Naddakan alone for like however long that was, not to mention the torture and physical work he has to do, and then there was prime Empire where he ran a practical stan group of jays which now that I mentioned it, it does not get mentioned enough
can you imagine how the first interaction went??? Like omg, he would have been like completely surrounded by people asking him questions and probably also just yelling his name. I have a feeling he'd be very confused by this despite being proud that there's a group that loves him so much they played him as their avatar in the game
I feel like Jay at many times is very overlooked, but honestly if you ask me skybound was a season of destruction probably also one of the darkest seasons from back then before like the reboot I feel like if I wanted to compare skybound with another season I feel like I wouldn't personally be available to do that cuz I can't think of another season that could possibly dig a whole gave in my mind after watching it, and like the problems correlating with a lot of things and whole season there is a lot of serious topics in that season unlike a lot of the other seasons actually, and honestly that just knocked the grave further down into my mind it's not six feet underground it's 12 ft underground it's embedded in my mind in a way I can't describe
This is just honestly a rant about Jay cuz why not?? I haven't been active I get my physical activity rant on and on this account that's going to be about Jay
