A little self-indulgent comic I made to cope with A New Wish's season finale. SPOILERS

The night after watching the episode, I immediately thought scenarios for Dev and Peri to reunite. I already liked Hazel's and Dev's friendship, but him getting Peri honestly made things more interesting since he'll get more involved in the show.

Dev losing Peri devastated me, since that also meant losing his memory. I was kind of expecting it due knowing the other show the writers worked on (Infinity Train, which I love). This is the second season finale to mess me up this much, in fact.

This was the first scenario I came up with, based on other's ideas on how Peri could be present to Dev as a human. I also added the theory that Dev didn't get his memory erased. I made Peri wear something that fitted the role of babysitter (in my opinion). An alternative would be Dale's new assistant/intern, in which he'll used the same clothes as his fairy form, but with a bow tie and the wand pen.

I sort of rushed the dialogue and made it quite cheesy near the end. I didn't want it to be too long as I want to make more fan art for the show, but also finish my months long project.

Another scenario I liked was that Dev (with memories intact) is secretly sabotaging Project H and his selfless deeds allow him to get Peri back, may be after a legal dispute in the Fairy Court.

You want to have a baby? Be my guest. It's not the same as having a prosthetic or being visually impaired. Don't expect everyone to get out of your way just because you didn't use a condom. And that goes for when the kid, after birth, is on a plane or in a restaurant making everyone around them miserable.

Its always the assumptions that get me. Like, not everyone "chooses" to have a baby. Rape and pro-choice bullshit are abundant all over the world. So is the knowledge that condoms are not 100% going to prevent a baby. And so is the fact that "making the people around them miserable" isn't a child only thing, as evidenced by you sending this anon.

But lemme say fuck all that for a second. Its fine for people to have sex and want kids. No, being pregnant isn't the same as being visually impaired (like me!) or having a prosthetic but it doesn't have to be. Not all disabilities are the same.

You're supposing that just because a pregnant person supposedly consented both to sex and having a child that they don't deserve accommodations for things like mobility issues (that range from oh its hard to get anywhere to oh I'm bedridden indefinitely), brain fog, depression, chronic pain, possible dislocations, dizziness, ect, ect, all of which on their own can be disabling. You're supposing that your moral upset over people having sex and your hatred of children should override their understandable need for accommodations.

Well, hate to break it to you, it doesn't. People who get pregnant deserve the accommodations they need not just WHILE they're pregnant, but afterwards as well! And if I have anything to say about it, they will get those accommodations! Go fuck yourself.

(Btw, there are numerous disabling conditions that pregnancy can cause after giving birth which I haven't even mentioned but even without taking them into account, accommodations after pregnancy are still needed.)

Honestly mostly Anxy and me just quietly sit in our own corners and see what is needed or unposted typically, but for anyone who's curious this is quite honestly my thoughts on it:

have access to the official sky:cotl discord's news channels (news, known-issues, vault-of-socials, and quick-dev-update)

No bigotry of any sort (this is very much a strict rule: any transphobic, racism, homophobia, sexism, support of genocides, etc will not be accepted here. If you respect people it's very likely you're fine)

Be nice to people if possible (neither me or Anxy will bite- I only react negatively if you do something horrible to others.)

No beta spoilers or leaks¹ are allowed to be posted here. (I mean it, especially as someone WHO has access to beta: that is suppose to be correctly tagged and kept away from the main sky tags if possible as simple skyblr etiquette. yes this includes tagging us in them, tag me instead if it comes to it.)

These are very simple and direct things from the top of my head. Asking for help is always allowed here, I've definitely asked for help before and we do talk about our thoughts on certain details when it comes to it. We're both fairly timid as a warning, but I do believe we're fine and open about new mods.

Ive been trying to collect my thoughts for like two weeks now on what sally reed’s real happy ending would look like and I have found absolutely no answer but it is I think helpful in understanding what’s going on with her last episode before she agrees to go with barry.

Because it’s an absolutely bonkers decision and we see absolutely none of her deliberation really - in fact she has a connection with an agent and might be able to get some minor roles! So it’s kind of surprising when you see her decide to go to her home where you both know he is. Like it’s weird! Until you remember Barry is about how the entire entertainment industry is inescapably exploitative especially towards women. The thing is that Sally wants to be famous but tied up in that is needing to feel safe and powerful. Its not worth disentangling the two theyre co-constitutive. And with Joplin? When she was her own boss with recognition and power? It was taken away from her in a heartbeat and there was no recourse. And she’s furious because she thinks if she’s just good enough and if she works hard she should be owed it. And if someone else like Natalie or Barry gets it she can’t handle it.

And so her entire subplot in episode 4 is in this frame the most concise perfect storytelling. She gets back and is so close to the Thing that will Make it Better, it’s the moving and fame and production and the lights flare. And then she meets a famous oscar-winning director who’s working on a project she hates, with actors cast to be conventionally beautiful and a nonsense plot and 90% green screen. And Sally acts for her, assuming that being good will actually get you something, and fails! (Don’t EVEN get me started on the gender politics here. the only man is the agent offering her a gig but it also doesn’t move the needle because women in barry do misogyny too)

So the realization that HAS to come is that this is futile. She will absolutely never be powerful without someone holding a trapdoor that can take it all away. You can direct CODA and you’ll still be stuck here. She will never be safe. And she can’t go home. So after that, well. Barry.

can i just get something off my chest here for a second. it’s really astounding to me that getting IV fluids caught on briefly as a health fad (or maybe it’s still trendy, idk) among the pilates-and-superfoods wellness influencer goop subscriber / nootropics-and-bulletproof-coffee biohacking tech startup set (more overlap between these categories than the uninitiated might imagine). because in my experience there’s generally very few things that an otherwise fairly well hospital patient likes less than being connected to IV fluids. most people will put up with it if they can see it’s absolutely necessary, like if they’re fasting for a surgical procedure, but getting cannulated is painful and being hooked up to an IV infusion is annoying. you have to drag the IV pole around with you if you want to go anywhere. and the pump will probably start beeping at you if you move your arm funny. normal people hate it. and yet a whole bunch of rich californians have started doing it voluntarily. to cure their hangovers.
