(Other than the really weird bit about "Male presenting Doctor") what were your thoughts about the specials?
pretty mixed bag, pretty messy, but good overall. i think they were very obviously a nostalgia trip for people around my age lol and it worked! i loved seeing tennant and tate back onscreen together, their chemistry hasn't aged a bit, and honestly just watching doctor who that wasn't written by chris chibnall was a breath of fresh air. they weren't boring, like seasons 11 and 12 were, and they didn't go too far off the other end into nonsense like flux did. characters want things again! the show can let itself just be silly! i was literally cheering out loud when donna and the doctor were just saying random scifi gobbledegook at each other for like a solid several minutes during the star beast.
the structure of the specials kind of baffles me. i love wild blue yonder--i think it's definitively the best of the specials as a standalone, it's absolutely fantastic, creepy and atmospheric and bringing things around to RTD's strength, which is well-written characters interacting with each other and letting good actors just act. but at the same time i dont understand why it exists? it feels like...idk. imagine if you watched the star wars original trilogy but instead of the empire strikes back the middle film was just a feature length film about luke and han surviving on an ice planet with no reference to anything that happens in the last film except the two characters' relationship. and then the next film was still return of the jedi, unchanged. it felt like that
i liked all the weird campy silliness of the star beast and the giggle, and they were both very fun! neil patrick harris gave a fantastic performance, there are a lot of very memorable sequences from the giggle, but it's very very all over the place. so many threads get kind of picked up and go nowhere. the toymaker's haunted house dimension goes nowhere. RTD's eyerolling social media commetnary goes nowhere (thank god tbh but yknow im illustrating something here). even the toymaker kind of goes nowhere, after ncuti gatwa shows up he's bascially an afterthought who loses by dropping a ball. obvious parallels to david tennant's first episode with that ball scene could be made, but just... aren't. it feels like load-bearing sectikons of the plot and themes were cut out to make room for a backdoor pilot for the stupid fucking UNIT spinoff
oh and it goes without saying i fucking hate all the UNIT wank in the star beast and the giggle. i hope space nine eleven 2 happens to their stupid fucking avengers tower i cannot stand kate stewart who is constantly a murderous bonehead (in the giggle alone she gets two pepole killed by not listening to the doctor and assuming that this teleporting godlike entity could be restrainted by Two Guys) who is both in and out of universe just a boring nepo baby with no merit of her own
um. i still dont know what happened with the regeneration. i think the implication is that when david tennant dies hell time travel back to become ncuti gatwa inside himself--at least the rehab dialogue seems to make that implication. but it's not really explained or explored? baffling. i do think that fourteen getting to settle down and live a peaceful life with his friends is cute.
oh yeah and the ask said other than that but goddd there was some good stuff in the star beast and honestly with the state of the UK media i will take any perspective on trans people that includes baseline human erespect but some of those lines made me cringe so bad. anyway overall i am cautiously optimistic for the future of the show--oh ncuti was fucking great did i mention that i instantly bnought him as the doctor he owned the scene, the moment he was there it was clear he was the protagonist, and i liked the church on ruby road well enough too--i am cautiously optimistic but i worry that a big UNIT-shaped tumor will devour huge chunks of it and it'll be annoying. also russel t davies is like 60 and i just dont want to hear what he has to say about twitter so im not looking forward to dot and bubble

Topics for my Chakotay research!! :D
Before I fully dive into everything I have about Chakotay I want to create and share my sort of headers or what I plan to discuss so yall have an idea of what I’ll be discussing the following weeks :D I may or may not follow this to a tee. I have tried over the years to create a document organizing my thoughts. But there is always so much to consider and it's forever changing. Especially now his background region is specified.
If there is anything in here that is not addressed that you would like me to cover, please let me know! I'll let you know whether or not its something included deeper in the text or if its something I've not yet considered. If that's the case my dms are open and we can discuss it :)
The Al-lore of Chakotay
1: Self Introduction
-How Chakotay made me consider “self” and “others” in the real world and in media.
2: Prodigy and the Nicarao
-The research and the why -The Greater Nicoya -The petroglyphs -Further thoughts and questions
3: The wrongdoings of Chakotay
-Negative stereotypes -Inaccurate cultural portrayals -intro to fixing this within canon? (statement or kinda thesis idk)
4: My past research for a “tribe”
-The research and the why -The Maya -The Lancandon -Q’eqchi
5: Considering the cards we were dealt
-The issue with Trebus -A realistic look at Trebus -Trebus within the Star Trek realm -Tying together the loose ends (how it works for his story/issues in community)
6: Considering the cards we were dealt part 2
-Chakotay's identity as told (issues with his “identity”/the Ladino) -The issues with the destruction of Trebus -Posing some questions (futurism for poc) -Further and final thoughts on fixing him within canon (chronological issues)
7: Exploring Chakotay 1 (Important themes to potentially explore)
-Chakotay's story and immigration -Chakotay's story and “Nepantla” -Chakotay's story and exploring self identity -Chakotay's story and generational trauma

-don't hate but kinda fuzzy too :( BUT I KNOW THE GENERAL DIRECTION OF ALL OF THESE :(
-basic info
12: The beginning to the maquis
-again…don't hate, but i have important ideas for characters lol
I know this makes me look INSANE but this has been something I’ve thought about for a very long time, maybe like 15 years :/ Its been through a lot in my head and on paper but through my art i’ve been able to generate ideas and a direction i want his character to go. I will state this probably a million times more as I type out my ideas, but the headcanons I include, i dont expect that it will align with everyones ideas and speculations with his story and i dont expect everyone to agree with my opinions. We all view chakotay differently and i'm perfectly ok with that. I do this to give others a different perspective on chakotay and his potential. To show that he is interesting. Also to maybe provide anyone with a more “thorough” background story and development for him. Also for any artist or fanfiction authors out there that want to include any of my work in their own, please feel free!! This is for everyone! Its the reason i do it :D anyways i hope i can share all of these thoughts in full before school starts but idk. Some may come in different formats like videos or art so stay tuned!
I will do my best to link my sources as I post but for now here are just a few videos to watch when considering Chakotay and his ethnicity:

Hey there, you expressed that you are open to talk about byler so I hope it’s ok that I ask you :D I was wondering how you deal with byler / duffer doubt, if you have doubts at all?
The last time I was emotionally invested in a ship was with Sherlock and John back in the day,,, and that ended up being heartbreaking, so I‘m afraid of this happening again..
Especially since I see some parallels with the way a lot of people look at the writers, I think? The writers of Sherlock were also thought to be these great detail oriented writers, who craft the narrative so wonderfully subtle … and with Sherlock it turned out that they were not these writers we imagined them to be at all…
I’m also afraid that I just project my own feelings onto Mike, my queer gaze haha
But it’s a comfort for me to know that el will have her arc of independence, cause she obviously deserves to explore the world and herself and not just stay with the first guy who stumbled upon her! :D it also comfort‘s me that will‘s feelings for Mike will have to be addressed even more in s5
Do you have anything to comfort you? Or are you very convinced?
i think everyone has their fair share of byler doubt moments, but for the most part, i truly believe that byler will become a thing for 3 reasons.
1. byler is the only ship in the show handled with SO MUCH CARE. the van scene took a whole DAY to film, and the writers, directors, and the crew (even the actors) all love this ship so much and you can see that through all the thought that is put into their scenes.
2. i always tell anti-bylers to rewatch the show and really dive deep into the mike/el/will love triangle because if you REALLY analyze, (and have some common sense) you will see with the way the characters have been written, the way the story has been going, it ALL adds up to mike and will being the end couple and if you dont want them to be the end couple then you dont want happiness for the characters.
3. since the beginning, we have been feeling bad for will. the poor kid went missing in an alternate dimension, had an abusive (later absent) father, gets bullied in school, got possessed by an evil monster and told people how to fix the problem even if it would end up killing him, got left behind by all of his friends, still has a connection to the place that will haunt his nightmares forever and likely will still have that connection until vecna is dead, got swerved a hug buy his best friend, got third wheeled (on his birthday) and is a gay kid in love with his best friend (and made us believe that his friend "does not reciprocate his love") in the 80's. so tell me, why would they make this kid suffer AND make him queer just for us to see him get heartbroken and sad in the end, because its a pretty known fact that without mike, will might likely never be happy, so why would they end up doing ALL OF THAT for will, just to see him lose in the end? that doesnt make sense, the audience is rooting for will, and vecna dying, healthy relationship with his family and friends, and being able to kiss mike on the mouth are the key things to make will happy.
honestly my only doubt it that the writers will just simply change their mind about it. 😭 or netflix will not let them do it. also this might sound crazy but sometimes i dread byler coming on screen because my dad is probably the most homophobic person ever and i dont want to deal with him talking about some "2025, they wanna make everyone gay so people will keep watching" and im just like no. you dont get it.
thank you for the question! keep sending more.

Once again, im here to complain about the bridgerton subplots and changes
So spoiler for Season 3 ahead
I hated that they just cast Anthony and Kate aside. Do they really had to go RUNNING to India and couldnt wait for FRANCESCA'S WEDDING???? Hello??? Werent they the head of the family??
The intention with that is great and loving but is the showrunner allergic to having Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley in our screens for more than 3 minutes????
Like at that scene of the night before Polins wedding. Colin mentions that Kanthony has "come back"??? From where??? Did they run off again??
(Also i would really like to know who Edwina married and a bit of her love story)
The way in which the writers simply forgot about benedict's art/painting plot is atonishing. The build up of S1 to S2 was great, with the art school, but then in S3 is like that never happened?? Why didnt they explore more Benedict's lack of purpose or even his disappoinment with Anthony's actions?? Noooo, they just rather have him have sex with people all season long
(Before you come after me, im not critizing Benedicts sexuality, im just pissed that his character had barely nothing to do this season other than have sex, but i did enjoy a lot his scenes with eloise)
The Mondrichs plot was sooooo inconsequential and had nothing to do with any other one in the entire season. What was the point of keeping them?????
Somehow the writers in this show can make up irrelevant plots for lukewarm characters but cant come up with anything for the most beloved ones
And lastly about Michaela Stirling. So many people on twitter are fighting over this that is sickening. But lemme tell you this, all my life i had the pleasure (or better, the experience) to see many books i adore turn into movies/tv shows. Sometimes in adapting change is good, sometimes is necessary. But this change alters the whole story.
To be clear, i am NOT trying to be disrespectul, or homophobic or even mean about it. I dont mind the representation. In fact i think stories centered around LGBTQ+ leads, in this period of time, is a niche that could be much explored. Bridgerton could inspire people who belong in this community to write these stories, which is great.
However, the change of introducing Michaela completely transforms Francescas story. The second-love with the exploration of sexuality trope has great potential. But changing so greatly a story thats well known between the fans is risky to say at least.
Francescas book is not my favorite (by far actually) but it is for a lot of people, and a lot of readers have been enamoured with michael for the last 20 years, at least. So i understand if people get upset, because i would too if my favorite couple/story changed so much out of the blue
And honestly, i think this is one of the ways the show is trying to remain relevant. I AM NOT trying to say that TV should use LGBTQ+ love stories as clickbait. But be serious, the books were written as 8 straight love stories, in todays society people would be complaining if they followed if by the rule.
Anyway, Polin were wonderful. Nicola and Luke you are so so so loved, we couldnt have actors that loved their characters more
(And at this point i might be a Portia Featherington stan, she grew a lot on me)
If you read this far, i hope you have a great week and please dont come for my critics, they are not hate opinions, i just needed to rant <3

an oral history of vocaloid
ive seen a lot of (very misguided) discussion about vocaloid/vsynth in regards to AI voices discourse, so i thought it would be a good idea to sit down and explore vocaloid as a software, as well as mentioning other software of the same genre, to give people who dont really know much a better understanding
first and foremost: i dislike AI voices that are in unregulated spaces right now. actors who are finding their hard work end up on some website for anyone to use without compensation is devastating, and shows a lack of respect for the effort it takes in the field.
however, vocaloid has a much longer history that pre-dates these aggregate sites. vocaloid software was first released in 2004, and was initially marketed towards professional musicians. vocaloid's second version of the engine, however, decided to broaden the market towards general consumers, pitching it as helpful software to those who wanted to produce music, but didn't have the personal skill or ability to have someone else sing for their music (range, note holding, etc). amateur musicians wouldn't know how to direct someone to tackle a lyric persay, but using software would be easy to learn and they would learn the terminology associated with certain performance decisions.
in vocaloid 2's era, miku was released. miku's voice provider is Saki Fujita, a well respected voice actress who actually does a lot of work in anime as well as video games! the popularity of miku is its own separate post of history, but the explosive nature of it, i would argue, is the reason that vocaloid and other commercial voice synthesizer software ultimately ended up geared towards all consumers instead of just professional musicians. (crypton and yamaha did absolutely still cater to professional musicians, having private or non released banks only for certain companies/contractors to use though).
flash forward, and technology has developed way further. in 2013, cevio released, and in 2017, synthV debuted. by this point, vocal synthing has expanded from just singing software to also include software intended for just speaking (voiceroid by AHS software) and the idea of an AI bank to improve the quality and clarity of voice banks is becoming more feasible.
however, i wouldnt say the developments in AI voices came strictly from this side of things. in fact, i distinctly remember back in the early 2010s, people were using websites with voice models of characters like glados (portal) and spongebob. these audio posts were seen as novelties, and admittedly theyre fun just to mess around with (and people often find the spongebob rap music that yourboysponge makes to be pretty well done!), they do lead the way to better developed technology that doesnt compensate the artist...
so back to vocaloid. the thing about vocaloid (and all vocal synthesizers) is that contracts are in place to give appropriate time and compensation, along with permission to even use the person's voice. saki fujita continues to update miku's voicebank because she is being paid well to do so. this can be said for all vocal synth products. because these companies (crypton, ahs software, internet co, etc) specialize in making these tools and products for it, they have the appropriate knowledge on what proper compensation looks like. a random person grabbing a "raiden shogun genshin ai voice" model has none of those things. the voice actress doesnt get money off of that. its stolen work. AI can be used ethically, but it has to be done with regulation.
im leaving out specifics on certain vocaloids/vsynthesizers since its tangential to this post at best, but im making this so people have a better understanding of the history and intended usage of vocal synthesizer software. thank youuuuu

Im sorry, but Jaune stans have really delicate feelings... Adam and Ironwood stans have had way more horrible words flung to them, both Bumbleby and Blacksun shippers too... It's sadly just the normal behavior of the FNDM. I feel bad that Jaune stans are receiving punches too, but they really act like it's the end of the world and like haters have kicked them in the gut. This is normal. Welcome to the actual experience in the RWBY FNDM!
I have to agree as well. I know that there are some good Jaune fans out there that understand that Jaune is poorly written as a character same with those in the Ironwood and Adam camps as well. These three characters in particular all lacked something when being written. Which I think for Adam and Ironwood fans held up firmly while Jaune stans just need to see that Jaune is poorly written... and not a good character.
For Jaune his poorly written status are in line with his lack of accountability, how the writers mostly Miles and Kerry treat him like a self-insert, and lastly poorly-done and pretty generic Semblance and allusion. What he lacks in accountability and responsibility, more respect towards his historical allusion, lastly, not being treated as a "Nice Guy" self-insert character.
Adam was VICTIM of racism even his bio on the now defunct Amity Arena mobile game even supports this. Yet people want to call him abusive or a PDFile because.
The Writers didnt know what to do with him. (Once again, fuck you Miles and Kerry.)
We still have no official confirmation about his age, despite A/rryn Z/ech claiming that he's in his twenties. Once more. Voice Actors dont write the show.
Instead of that. It would have been best to see how racism towards the faunus affected Adam when he was younger, since he has the Schnee Dust Company brand on his eye. Another thing would be to reinforce the student-master relationship and thats it. Nothing romantic between Blake and Adam just a student and master stuff that is all. T
he fact that we could have seen him at first glance hesitant to help humans after the Haven Academy attack because of his morals when he is exiled by the White Fang's council and a new High Leader. While at the same time revealing why he does not trust humans.
Not to mention making him a key-player in the downfall of Jacques Schnee alongside Blake, Weiss, and Winter. Most important of all for that specific arc being that he could see that both Faunus and Humans in Mantle suffer underneath Atlas and the corporations that live up there.
Ironwood just like Adam felt like wasted potential as well for lack of development and no exploration about his past at all. Just suddenly revealing that: "Oh he was evil all along" instead of understanding that he is in a position of leadership and doing what he can while also letting the stress of that position get to him.
We should have gotten the reveal on what happened to half of his body, why he is so focused on maintaining order to better fit the Tin Man allusion, and developing around him to the point where he reveals a kinder side to him. Showing that he has a heart.
Lastly, his semblance not being an ableist allusion for ADHD, which is on the spectrum by the way. Instead why couldn't it have been powered up shots depending on which gun he is using.
God thats another thing I want to touch on. As someone who ships Blacksun as well, I feel very sorry for the peeps who shipped Blacksun a lot, even to the point when BB did become canon that they may have insults flinged at them especially in their ask boxes anonymously. Which I also feel sorry for any BB fans who wanted a natural confession instead of the forced one they got in Volume Nine and perhaps in some case wanting Blacksun or Sunnybees (basically Polyamrous Blacksun and BB) .
To end this.
Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter The RWBY FNDM For if you disagree with what the FNDM says, thou shalt be shamed for it.

Why I think We Should Say Goodbye to "Euphoria" Now
Yes, I'd rather have no season 3.
I feel like the world has since grown out of Euphoria by now, well, except for the die-hard fans. The director and sole writer of the show has pretty much shown how disturbing his ideas actually are.
It's probably the only reason why the first season of Euphoria succeeded so well is the collaboration of the cast, crew, and director. Now we have news of strained relationships, consistent pauses in shoots going on in the production of the third season, and proper constructive criticism of the director's rebranding of another project, "The Idol."
I am not going to research too much about this as so many articles about it are a headache to read because of the director.
I will be giving my opinions and thoughts about the previous seasons of Euphoria and as well as my thoughts on the Idol, which I actually have never watched but I felt like I shouldn't, I am glad that I didn’t after watching Ashley Ippolito's commentary about the show, on just the first episode.
Euphoria shouldn't be targeted to younger audiences and I really wish it was set at least in senior high school, at best freshmen to second year college.
It's not the depiction of LGBTQIA+ or the alcoholism or even the drugs. IT'S EVERYTHING ELSE . THIS IS RATED X, FOR EXTREME CAUTION TO WAY TOO GRAPHIC SCENES AND STORIES.
Look, Euphoria is quite the show, and I understand the appeal... of the first season. It was a fresh new take at the time it was released. It was drama DRAMA.
I was older when I watched it , I was 19 going on 20 at the time, and decided to give it a shot long after its conclusion. It was around the time the second season was close to be released. Even at a much more appropriate age to digest this content, I still needed to take a break after each episode. It took me pretty much weeks or a month to watch an episode after the other. It was way too much to process at once. That's coming from a binge watcher.
First of all, the characters were pretty good, but it was only because of the collaboration of the writer/director and the actors. I do know that Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Barbie Ferreira had said in interviews that they worked on their characters very closely. As for the remaining main cast, I haven't watched their interviews, so I will leave it to their ability to act to speak volumes of why their characters were remembered and well received. Sam Levinson had said that he projected a lot of his own story through Rue, with his battles of addiction to illegal substances as a teenager.
Now the story... okay. I do not appreciate the use of sex and nudity too much here, especially with Maddie, Jules, and Cassie. Maddie exploring sex at 14 with a 26 year old man with that... commentary narrated by Rue is just not right, I understand 17 and 20, which is not right either, but is often than not much more acceptable. The amount of sexual nudity of Cassie actually dramatised in the series should have stopped at one implied video. That amount in the show is way too disgusting, and they mean to tell me she isn't even 18, or 17 at least, when that happened? This is why I needed to take breaks watching this damn show. Jules and ..Nate’s dad, no. JUST NO. Nate’s father, I already hate every scene associated and showing him. I feel very uncomfortable with all of what Nate saw, and that the audience saw TOO MUCH OF IT ALREADY.
I should have stopped at one episode because it didn't get any better for my psyche the further watched. Now Rue is addicted to a person, Jules is simultaneously showing her toxicity, Maddie gets physical and mental abuse, Cassie is traumatised, Kat finds empowerment in the wrong place, AND NATE CONTINUES TO EXIST.
I hate that it really did influence a lot of younger people to explore these addictions (I truly think Euphoria influenced the satire of 'delulu is the solulu'), instead of reflecting these stories as " DONT DO IT". I do think the adults or even teenagers that do struggle and relate with these stories felt seen and heard and that it may have inspired hope to change, reflect that their choices before and who they were aren't who they are now, or ya know positive things. I hope that is what Sam Levinson meant to inspire with this show at the time because, after that, everything went downhill.
The second season... the few things I liked about it are Fez beating up Nate, Fez and Lexi, Lexi's play, Maddie beating up Cassie (mustve been fun for Alexa to get to slap a literal MMA fighter and getting away with it), Cassie’s desparate pick me skin care routine scenes (props to Sydney for that), Chloe Cherry actually acting, and Rue breaking up with Jules for good. Yes, it didn't get any better for my psyche. What is this show now? Where is the cautionary aspect, and why is it all JUST trainwreck after trainwreck?
The first season was praised for its drama and good acting, and I do appreciate that it does truly illustrates cautionary tales in the pursuit of euphoria, hence the title. It should have stopped there. But noooo, the director found a new addiction, and he tried to use the formula that worked on his "Magnum Opus" on another show that was not supposed to go in that direction.
The Idol is a show where Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis' daughter, Lily Rose Depp, starred with famous pop soloist The Weeknd and formerly directed by Amy Seimetz. They said that the show was supposed to reference Jocelyn's life as a child star. I mean, judging from the photos, Seimetz really was going for satire. HBO thought the world wanted something dark and shock factor again, but they were proven so wrong when the audience and critics immediately gave backlash, for good reason. From what I have read on several article headlines and from Final Girl Studios' video essay, it was basically no story and all porn, Final Girl Studios said it was...boring. Pretty much of what the world had said is that it's just plain fantasy porn that wasn't even good. To add gas into the fire, the crew was not enjoying the environment. The original The Idol gave Disney Channel vibes and given that the point of the show was supposed to dive into Hollywood exploitation and a dark comedy ? It could've revealed just as dark, maybe even darker and truer topics, about Hollywood all the while showing the highs and lows of a person receiving fame and praise left and right at a young age then at an older age. I would have loved to see that. It would have provided actual substance, even with darker parts, which is the point. Levinson instead made something...disgusting, probably hoping that it would bring back the accolades he got with Euphoria. Well, that formula did not work.
Worst, it failed the WORST way possible.
Here is the thing, I do not care if it's a man, woman, or a member of the LGBTQIA+ directing and/or writing the story. If it's good, it's good, if it's bad, IT'S BAD. I will not dive into misogyny, misandry, discrimination, gender superiority and any other topic related about the influences that lead to the misdirection on the making of the show, because if I talk about it anymore than I do now, it will continue to have power, which is the opposite of what should happen. These influences are meant to be addressed a few times and moved on from it by deeming it unimportant anymore and progressing from it, NOT accepting its existence and normalized.
That's why Euphoria season 3 needs to be cancelled now, as well as Sam Levinson's formula.
We are already at the age where we are increasingly aware of the influences of these shows and how much of a progress society has, by truly critically criticising highly influential media. In order to truly progress, these types of content shouldn't be produced anymore and be left in the past. Euphoria was a good show at its time, but it will not work today, and it really shouldn't work again.
So please, say goodbye and thank the service that the show has done. We don't need that anymore.

im always amazed (in a bad way) of how rolin and sam, dont know if any other actors talked about it, go on about how the flashbacks are "finally" done and insinuating they were boring and we dont need other narrators. that part is so integral for me in the show. i love to see what happened to the characters centuries ago and how it impacted them and shaped them in the present. how do you have a show about ancient immortal beings and think the past is the worst part of the story? only having the show set in the real time is the most boring thing this show could do, i feel like im going crazy seeing people agreeing that the flashbacks are the worst part of the show
I think there's still ways to talk about the past without having full flashbacks. I mean, look at the arun backstory we got in the museum from armand just talking. a lot of the books are about characters telling stories within stories (derogatory lol). they might explore it that way instead. on a practical side, it'd be cheaper to do too. a lot of armand's backstory so far has been done that way and hasn't suffered any for it. the emotion that pours out of assad when he's talking about things, like when he's trying to tell daniel stuff in the 70s and can't, or even the way that louis yells "my daddy vampire groomed me into a little BITCH" at him. we pick up the intensity of what that means and how it hurts without ever having seen it yet.
I like the flashbacks too but there's still ways that these stories can be told without doing all that and still feeling satisfying, I think.

I can’t seem to finish Kim Eun Sook dramas. And I don’t say this with any hate towards people who do like hers. I do believe she has great ideas and she makes multiple amazing characters.
But so many times I find myself forwarding through the 10 minutes- long intense staring scenes between the leads (which become tiring by the 15th time)
And the fact that despite people’s terrific backstories and character layout (which again, are what I find most exciting), they BARELY scratch the surface of what they can be!
The Heirs, DOTS, Goblin had all these problems but i thought Mr Sunshine wasted opportunity most
They had a stellar character list with the best actors and they wasted too much of that drama long drawn out silences and sceneries without putting in meaningful dialogue for the people.
I wasn’t upset with the ending of people dying, I was upset with how little these characters were explored despite the drama having been given an extended episode run!
Am I the only who thinks so?
ahahaha it's so funny because before i finished reading i was like "oh i bet this anon really did not like 'long staring: the drama' aka Mr Sunshine" (great drama! i don't think i'll ever rewatch it because it's so damn long).
kim eun sook dramas are hit or miss for me, but usually a hit because im messy and live for drama and she's an absolute master at pathos and getting an audience hooked. that said, i do think sometimes her dramas lose what makes them great when they get too bogged down by convoluted plots, dont quite know when to end, or have waaaaaay too much product placement going on. i do think that silences and segments that don't advance the plot or characters can be really useful in storytelling, however (studio ghibli, for example, has this down to an art)
if you haven't yet, and are in the mood for a darker show, i definitely recommend the glory because it (imo) sidestepped a lot of the common shortcomings of kim eun sook dramas and was a great shakeup of her usual characters and writing style (that said, it is a LOT darker than her usual fare, be sure to check content warnings before diving in)

Tbh it's funny how many times bkdk been seen as an extremely popular ship, like it's a little impossible for Hori and everyone else involved to NOT know about it (some of them make very sure to show their admiration for them as a pair in general), so making an implied ending is not expected but still obvious. Izuocha is the standard shonen romance, which is predictable and Hori seems to like subverting these shonen tropes a lot- so i think a shipless, open ending is the least expected out of the three and the one that makes most sense imo.
Unless he pulls a total wild card and decides to make Izuku marry Melissa or some random girl idk lol
I mean, people of the team -voice actors, assistants, etc- who he is close with do make references and jokes to it, and I dont believe he is blind to it all. What's surprising is how he didnt decide to also joke about it in the series or in interviews, like at all -as far as we know, he takes them seriously and enjoys writing them.
Tbh its not like a shipless or unromantic ending would be a game changers, its not like there are no popular shonen that do this too. One of the most famous ones is One Piece, whose author made sure the protagonist wasn't going to be dating anyone (as far as I know), so I dont really see how it would subvert expectations unless he only was thinking about his inspiration from N*ruto and DBZ. Then yeah, making it look like a hetero ship then have no ship at all would work, tho he would need to be careful in order to not act like he completely forgot about Ochako's character.
I have seen shippers and non shippers (ppl who dont care about ships I mean) alike agreeing on it to be expected, or the best way this could end, so who knows!
Im mostly hoping for an implied ending, and to explore more about why tf Ktsuki is not dead (I say this with affection, im just wondering like his mom HOW TF CAN YOU STILL STAND and like his doctor I have no idea how you could fight even the medics and fly there) and saw Vestige! All Might.

Universal Month :Jaws 2
So this is my first official review of Universal month ,where I look at one of my favorite film studios ,Universal
Now where to start with universal,Well I am already working on a big project for the Universal Monsters so cant do that yet .I was gonna look at the silent classic Man Who Laughs ,but while thats still on the table ,Im gonna wait to do it
Of course there is a property very unimous with Universal and Summer ,the big blockbuster hit JAWS .....But I've talked about Jaws already ......But I havent talked about the sequels

In this 1978 film Police Chief Brody (Roy Schieder ) fears another shark is attacking Amity Island ,and things get tense when his own sons get involved in the danger
So before I go into the film I might as well share my thoughts on the franchise....A franchise that kind of is surprising it is one .The first film I actually recently revisited on the big screen and it is a perfect thriller ,great characters ,great suspense ,good scares ,and a nice mix of horror and adventure .While I had never seen Jaws 2 till today ,I had seen Jaws 3D which to my memory is shlocky fun and Jaws the Revenge which is...Bad....Just bad .I also wanna mention I rode the Jaws Ride at Universal Studios Florida THREE times, and I miss that ride cause it was cool
As for my thoughts on this film...There are things that work,,,,,,,But its more interested in being a greatest hits album
OK so sequels are a tricky thing to do .Basically a sequel is supposed to be like"Hey gang you like these characters and this world, are you curious what happens next " ......But often the reason for a sequel is less "We have a story to tell" as much as "Hey this made money ,I want more money ",and honestly its hard to think of a movie that lends itself least to a sequel then JAWS cause its pretty one and done ,its a very simple story :Big fish is eating people, three guys go to stop it ,the stop it .Thats it,and having ANORTHER shark attack with these same characters in this same location feels stale. Also for a seque to feel necesarry ,t must care about what happens to the character after the story is done.......And while I like Martin Brody,I just dont like him like that .To use another sequel others find unnecesary but I like ,Psycho II,where I totally care about what happens to Norman Bates after the first film and see potential in taking him in new directions.MArtin Brody however to me is a one and done character ,he beat the shark ,thats it
IRonically while I dont think Brodycoming back is that necesarry ......He is the best peart of the film,Roy Scheider is a damn great actor so he sells his paranois ,love for his family and the best scne in the movie is him after he is fired realizing he hsa no clue what to do next .Honestly the film does hit on a neat idea for a sequel ,as it couldve explored Brody's PTSD .He is clearly traumatised, and that is something I do wonder about after thrillers and monster movies, once the monster is slain how do you pick up the pieces after that .....But the trick is to do that well, the shark shouldve either all just be in Brodys head (Which as cool as the Shark just being a metaphor for Brody's trauma would be,theyd never do ,you need a real threat or else audiences will feel ripped off ) or make it ambiguious at first and reveal the Shark in the third act ......Which leads me to the movies big problem
So in the original film the Shark is not seen a lot,but it is built up like crazy, you FEEL its presence and when it does show up it is super scary ...Here it shows up too much ,it shows up early with little fanfare and frankly it doesnt look as good to me .It lacks presance and menace.Yeah it eats a helicopter and I think giving it burn scars to distinguish it from the first shark is neat ,but I dunno I didnt find this Shark that scary. Also the final fight with the Shark was a bit of a "Thats it ? " for me (Though I like how they kill it )
Cast is good, but I have nothing to say,as I really dont care for anyone except for Martin and Ellen. We have some teens in trouble who I didnt want them to get eaten ,but stil cant remember their names .The douchey Mayor is back, and while I love seeing Muarry Hamilton ,I struggle to believe this guy didnt learn his lesson after the first film...Then again, politician
Also I loathe South Park and the whole Member Berries thing that was popular for a few things.Call backs and nostalgia for a previous film arent bad things.....But maannnnn I was getting annoyed by the refrences to the first film"Oh remember the Orca ? Remember Hooper? Well they arent in this movie but we will bring them up"
I dunno.....Its not BAD ,its well made, and like I said I like seeing Schieder again but,,,,OK maybe this will make sense. This feels like a movie MADE to be shown on TV .Like your flipping channels ,spot Jaws 2,and are like"Eh Id rather watch the first one ,but this'll do " and just mindlessly watch it.
My final thoughtsa re it is a mediocre OK movie ,with a good performance.....That is overshadowed by a much better movie.I guess watch if your curious, but honestly just watch the first film

☯ plushswap color
[The actor for Color in the CI uses any/all, leaning towards masc pronouns last time i had been informed! PS characters will use the same pronouns as their show counterparts/actors!]
Likes/Dislikes!
oooh goodie what a time! haven't pondered plushswap in a good minute, probably should do the redesigns huh?/silly
but! anyways onto headcannons;
For the likes, i feel as though it'd mirror a bit of both canon Color and some of Sun (plus a bit of personal interpretation cause my au my rules! i dont actually believe this i should note)

Likes!
Hide and seek! - Color's really good at seeking, but even better at hiding! You'd think it'd be easy to find such a large bot, but, you'd be mistaken!
The plushies! [Sun, Moon, Eclipse] - Surprisingly, he finds the specific three to be like siblings! They bicker a lot, but, at the end of the day it's preferred company
Free days/days the plex is closed - self explanatory, i would think! Less time with noisy children, more time to run around and have fun!
Sadie - Sadie [in the plushswap au] is Color's technician! A very competent and smart tech at that, too! He will even drag her along to some of their games during the week!
Art Time! - Always encouraging the kids to explore their more creative hobbies, Color is more than happy to secretly extend art time by a couple minutes [read: 10+] should a kid request it!
The janitors - respect your janitors, folks, especially those in your schools
Pickup - begone, foul crotch demons!!/j it's because, aside from the plushies, it's finally quiet in the daycare!

Dislikes!
Parts 'n' Service visits! - Color is an animatronic with a decent balance of plush and metal, meaning, there are more than a *few* parts of his body that instead of being cased in metal, are instead cased in fabric and stuffing! So, during trips to PNS, most if not all of the plush parts get stripped to be cleaned, repaired, or in major circumstances, replaced.
Tight schedules - when trying to balance work and fun, Color can often be found complaining to whichever of the glamrocks he can bother tolerating at the moment about schedules. Holidays tend to be the worst for this animatronic, since it means more kids and less help.
The fact they literally cannot open their mouth - Sure, Color has teeth n whatnot, but aside from maybe a few inches of a gap to allow for like, a straw or something, our good ol attendant Color cannot open that maw for shit!
Profanity/Vulgarity censor - something that used to be way more of a problem! Instead, now the censor only exists during active hours (even then, he activates it quite a bit out of pure habit)
Losing! - Being the decently competitive bot that xe is, xe tends to become rather bitter and aggressive after losing games [against the plushies]. These are the times you'll often see xim cursing the most
Mass amounts of [loose] paint - An employee who was helping repaint some of the structures' parts one day accidentally knocked over several cans of the paint. It took forever to clean up. Rumour has it that employee is still banned from the daycare to this day
Blood - small amounts on children are generally met with indifference. Larger amounts generally require out-of-plex aid, which, is not a very consistent means of assistance. There's only so much programming can help with!
hehehe! thank you for submitting this ask, and my apologies for yapping <3!
#thank you to this ask for reminding me plushswap exists and that i have to wORK ON IT-#Plushswap au#the celestial idiots color#tci color#askbox answers#ask box#yapper central over here#Plushswap Color#PS Color#fnaf#fnaf dca au#fnaf dca#if you know why i put janitors on the liked no you doonntt/silly#jester's scribbles#anonymous#anonymous bellringers!

i know you dont like watching interviews but honestly finn at stranger con is the most iconic for evidence
you have the part where someone asks finn 'which of mike's relationships apart from el and will would you like to see explored next season?' and finn replies with 'you mean... romantic relationship?' and she confirms no and he makes a joke 'oh oh ok, erm... definitely mike and dustinnnnnn' and the whole crowd laughs
and then you also have someone asking if he ships byler and he rambles about how he doesnt ship anyone ever and then says 'you'll have to see, i dont know' and the girl is confused and asks 'i'll have to see if you ship it?' and he corrects her 'you'll to have to see what happens, i dont know'. all the while he is folded into himself looking terrified, and then when someone asks him what his favourite dinosaur is, he visibly relaxes and looks at the heavens and says FINALLY A QUESTION I CAN ANSWER!
hahahahahahaa i love him
but more than that, we have a wonderful piece of queer finn possible evidence, when he says that one of his most important values is 'accepting friends for who they are'. he could have been speaking about will, but the question was how he relates to mike. he could also be speaking about noah, or even himself. or all :))))))))
Clearing out more old ones from the drafts! Combining two that are about interviews.
I've definitely read the synopsis of the Finn one before, never watched it (curse you con panels and my awkward temperment! Get over it! You're missing out!! Hahaha) - but yes, this one! The infamous "Do you ship Byler" one. See. Here's what will be annoying if all said and done, they don't get together. I know he's just a guy and there's a big media production machine behind the show, but if we weren't supposed to be thinking and interacting with the ship in regards to the actors, they really could have not encouraged it. Some panels by means of the powers that be make sure all questions are monitored and vetted. The show actively doesn't stop conversation about Byler. They really could. I find this a positive. As also the way he doesn't shoot it down, right? He could have. I know he's awkward as hell, but his word choice is fascinating.
Poor awkward guy, I feel that. Solidarity my dude.
And ooooooh the second one - I've never heard that interview tidbit referenced until this ask. Did our boy spoil something? Very odd. I can't see them killing off Argyle for shock value and that would be so sad and kinda - why? But who knows, maybe they need a quick death right off the bat and then the rest are safe for most of the season. I'd love for him to be in the season in a small way that first episode and then there's a reason he's no longer there. People loved him, I thought he was a fantastic season 4 character - but we're jumping through a lot of non-plausible in-canon explanations for why he'd still be in Hawkins years on. Why wouldn't he go back to California? Unless they killed him 😢 So... hope this was just the guys being dumb at a panel to play it up. I don't think killing off Argyle adds anything. We know the stakes are high. Just let him leave. But - feel like it's almost guaranteed at this point to acknowledge that season 5 stuff from the beginning of the season has already been filmed, whatever that entails.

ok ive finished both eps 42 and 43 of kingoh now so heres my messy thoughts on things
as a disclaimer!!! this is not at all me saying that i dont like kingohger or that i think its a bad sentai show or anything like that! i really have loved kingohger and have had a lot of fun watching it!! i really love the characters and im going to miss them when its over. this is all just my personal opinion and relates to my own tastes in writing and such and im not at all trying to ruin peoples fun or stop people from enjoying the aspects that i dont really like. im not wanting to be mean or anything like that.
ok that out of the way. you would probably expect that as someone who really loves the different sibling relationships in toku shows and is really deeply moved by them to be more emotional about racles and gira but i just... have not. very early on in the show i was hoping so badly that we would get some parallels on the brothers and how they differ and that we could also have some parallels to the other sibling relationships in the show, gira with his little sister and brother and suzume and kaguragi vs gira and racles relationships. i had thought that exploring those parallels could be really interesting and good, and i still think that if they had chosen to explore that early on it wouldve been interesting and couldve also been used to have the reveal later on have more impact.
ive never really been a racles stan, although i do absolutely admire and enjoy his actors performance hes fantastic and has always done a great job in his role- but i dont like the sudden redemption happening. when the twist first happened i thought it was interesting and was thinking maybe it wouldve been motivated by racles being selfish, but i felt like episode 42 was very... idk the word. hollow maybe. we hadnt gotten any kind of hints that racles was actually a double agent or that he was doing things for giras or the peoples sake (so i dont really get people who say they knew it all along im sorry gnmgh) and its like. this again could have worked out better if there was some foreshadowing and hints to what was going on or at least some kind of build up. episode 43 kind of vaguely touches on how many people racles has gotten killed and how he says he wants to go down in history as the worst ruler ever and its like.... idk it feels like a retcon in a way to be like oh yeah btw all these horrible atrocities and war crimes he committed were actually for the good of the people! maybe im just being too much of a bleeding heart commie gmgmy but i do think there would have been more impact if racles actually HADNT been a double agent this whole time and if he actually had to face his actions and have some kind of change of heart while also not being totally 100% nice all of the sudden.
again i really did early on want more development on the brothers and wanted exploration of the contrasts between them as people, and i think both gira and racles actors are wonderful and did a great job in their roles. it makes me sad that i didnt.. really feel emotionally moved seeing the brothers scenes in these last two episodes and i think it just comes down to lack of build up and feeling like things are coming out of nowhere and rushed and like no actions have any real weight or consequences
like for example ive mentioned this before but the whole deal with yanma destroying the laptop and watching it youre going oh shit the whole kingdom is fucked he made this huge sacrifice. and then its totally fine a few episodes later. or how they kill the pink jester and in the moment its presented as this huge deal. and then shes fine. it feels like that just kind of continues to happen and its something that frustrates me because kingohger is really fun and has great concepts but then nothing holds any weight, the stakes you set up are meaningless when nothing actually has any consequences
and to just say it again. i AM enjoying kingohger. im having a lot of fun with it! i like this show and its characters a lot! which is part of why my brain notices these things and why i want to analyse it because i can see how i wish it could be better in certain aspects. i really like this show but i dont really agree when i see people saying that its a masterpiece of sentai writing
also i really wish suzume hadnt become another victim to genre typical misogyny where it feels like her character just revolves around racles and liking him and it feels like we lost so much potential with her character i still love her and her actress but early on i was so excited for her having some kind of depth but well.
and another thing i was thinking of as i was watching ep 43 was... why have all of the kings of shugodom thru history be secretly against dugded. it again feels like something that would have more weight and impact to it if there were some kings who really were on dugdeds side and then giras dad decides that hes not going to fall in line and is going to actually do something to try and save his people.
idk as i finish typing this i kind of feel like im being nitpicky and i really dont want to be a downer or ruin peoples fun 😭 i really do like this show i promise thats why i think about this stuff. thanks if u read this mwah

Okay, so I have multiple questions, but you don't have to answer all of them!!!
1) What do you want to see in the show in the episodes that follow?
2) What do you think episode 8 will be about?
3) How do you think they will approach Claudia and Madeleine's relationship? Do you think the -isms girlies would ever aknowledge that an eventual physical relationship is just as fucked up as 33 years old Louis (body wise) and 17 years old Armand (body wise) and that maybe the fact that they're vampires negates some of that stuff? (ESPECIALLY since Claudia is no longer 5, like in the books. Honestly dunno how they'd pull the "child vampire, must be killed!" with a 14 years old when Armand is barely 3 years older than her, at this point in time being given no reason to think they bumped up his age as well, despite the actor being 34.)
As a side comment, I think it would've been wise to make Armand older as well, just from a human filming perspective. It will be harder and harder to keep Assad looking like an ethereal 17 years old. Like, he doesn't look 17 even now, but he looks young! They could say he's 21 or 22 and Louis would still be a lot older and able to comment "He was like a boy masquerading as a gentleman." Idk, we'll see. We don't know yet when show!Armand got turned, so I'm keeping my hopes up on that atm.
answers under the cut for maybe spoiler stuff
I'm most looking forward to the trial tbh
I had to dig up the episode titles to guess how the order of events goes lol. between that and the soundtrack titles, it's prbly gonna be Armand and Louis in New Orleans, post trial. Louis seeing Lestat again in the house may or may not happen. Whatever the explosive fallout in Dubai is about, that's gonna occur. Loumand breakup possible? Lestat prbly is introduced in modern day. Cliffhanger lead in to S3.
I got kind of lost following this question lol. Idk if Claudeleine is gonna happen. I expect a blurred mixture of relationships the way they've been doing it with the others so far. I think Claudia will explore womanhood with Madeleine somehow but not necessarily in a romantic or sexual way. Having her be a dressmaker involves enough physical intimacy without needing to move it further tbh. I don't rly think this show is gonna get into all the underage themes with relationships bcuz they've p intentionally skipped over a lot of it so far. It'll prbly be mentioned around some characters at times but I dont think they're gonna focus on it a lot. There isn't rly a reason to.
I don't think Armand is supposed to actually be 17 in the series. Ig we'll have to wait for them to specify more outside the Rashid disguise but I think the language would have been more obvious by now if he's supposed to be that young. I think he's supposed to be at least over 20.
Claudia also wasn't killed in IWTV for being young but bcuz she "murdered" Lestat. All of it's made up anyway but at least in that book itself that's the main reason given, that's what Lestat is dragged out to accuse her of.
