Komui’s Lounge: Vol. 28 (Part 1/4)
(T/N: Big thanks to @candy-crackpot for the raws! This Lounge contains 20 questions in all. I've divided it into 4 parts for ease of reading and translating!)
Featuring: Reever, Lenalee, Allen, Lavi, Kanda
Lenalee: Good afternoon, everyone! As usual, my brother is nowhere to be found. I’m so, so sorry! Anyway, without further ado, we bring you the Komui’s Lounge corner!
Allen: YES! I finally get to feature alongside Lenalee~!
Lenalee: Teehee. I’m so happy, too~! (Allen and Lenalee joining hands and squealing giddily in unison.)
Lavi: Yaaay! Me too~! (Reaches out)
*Thwack!!* (The SFX of Allen’s smiling smackdown)
Lavi: OW!!! That’s your left hand, Mr. Allen!! He literally just smacked me with Innocence!!
Reever: Oi, Allen. You can’t go slapping people with your left hand, you know?
(T/N: “Hear, hear!” said Mana.)
Allen: My apologies. I sensed ulterior motives from Lavi directed towards Lenalee and I just…
Lavi: YOU’RE ONE TO TALK!!
Kanda: All this noise. Would you shut your yammering already, you danged rabbit?
Reever: Aaah, the nostalgia (heartily). How long has it been since you four were last together like this?
Lavi: It seems we’ve received several requests along the lines of, “We want to see the four teens having fun together,” so Hoshino basically bankrupted herself to put this together as a huge fanservice.
Allen: So, it wasn’t because she couldn’t be bothered thinking up new cast combinations every single time…?
Lavi: That’s also highly possible.
Lenalee: Now that you’ve mentioned it, looks like the comic’s supervisor warned her in no uncertain tones to really, really, have the word count in mind when writing this time. One thing led to another and last time was a big no-no, as well…I guess we’ll have to be more mindful as we speak.
Reever: This is especially the case for you, Allen, Lavi. You two have a rich history of fooling about and wasting precious paper. And Kanda, you don’t fight with Allen, too, get it?
Kanda: What the—That’s up to Beansprout, isn’t it?
Allen: HUH!?
Reever: OI! (sweating) Come on! They’re really at our throats with the word count this time, so work with me, for heaven’s sake!
Q1: How popular is Section Chief Reever with the ladies of the Order, romantically?
Reever: Eh?
Lavi: Don’t “eh” us, Section Chief. Come on, man, get a grip!
Reever: Ah, nah. I was thinking it’s a question for Kanda or something…Huh? Me!? You’re talking to me? (sweating)
Kanda: Aren’t you overreacting?
Allen: Please, allow me! I know the answer! Section Chief Reever does have himself a fanclub!
Reever: WHAT!?!?!? (shock)
Lavi: For many a year, Jeryy was club president, and all was peaceful under his management. Then, everything changed when Bonnaire joined the club and began vying for the seat.
Lenalee: I’ve lost track of the number of times people ask me about Section Chief Reever, too. “Wonder if he has a girlfriend,” and all that jazz.
Allen: Well, I guess it’s to be expected. After all, unlike Lavi, Section Chief Reever is handsome and unmatched when it comes to trustworthiness…Wait. Mr. Reever? You’re spacing out.
Lavi: Oi, back the heck up! Didn’t you just diss me in passing?!
Reever: M-my bad…Never thought I’d have anything to do with this topic, after all. Ah, guess I’m hopeless…Also, Allen! Lavi! Haven’t I warned you to watch the idle chitchat?
Allen and Lavi: Ehehe.
Lenalee: So, now that we’ve breached the subject…Do you have a girlfriend, Section Chief? (smiling)
Reever: Whoa, what’s up, Lenalee? You look so happy all of a sudden (sweating).
Lenalee: Well, we’ve never chatted about your love life like this before. I don’t know, it just makes me happy. Soooo, do you have one? Do you? You wanna know, too, right Kanda?
Kanda: Whatever!
Reever: Ah, nah. Well, now I don’t…but I had a girlfriend, once. Right! And that brings us to the end of this discussion!! Moving on!
Allen and Lavi: Aaaaaaaaaawwww! That’s it!?
Reever: Yeah, yeah. Shut up, the lot of you!
Lenalee: ……
Kanda: What’s up, Lena?
Lenalee: Well, just now, he looked kinda sad for a second. So, I just thought, could it be that it ended tragically? Maybe I shouldn’t have asked in the first place.
Kanda: As if them scientists are the oversensitive type who’d be depressed over such things. Don’t you worry.
Q2: Since when did you develop such a huge appetite, Allen-kun? After all, you didn’t seem to eat all that much back in your circus days.
Allen: In my circus days, it’s more like they didn’t let me eat rather than me not eating of my own volition. Then, later, when I was travelling with Mana, we didn’t have much money, so I had no choice but to put up with it. I’ve only been able to eat my fill after Master took me on, and he wasn’t that surprised by my appetite.
Reever: Well, General Cross probably had known Parasitic type exorcists are voracious eaters, after all. And since you were starved like that at such a young age, it took a toll on your growth, didn’t it, Allen?
Allen: Hmm…Yes, I definitely was tiny back then. Although I did hit this growth spurt when I was around thirteen. What a relief it was. And, someday, I would surpass Kanda and Lavi, as well.
Kanda: Wha—Is that so, Beansprout?
Allen: Mwahahaha! How I look forward to the day I would look down upon you, Kanda.
Reever: Cut it out. You cut it out right there (sweating).
Lavi: Could be that Allen’s past trauma is the reason he’s so strongly fixated on food even before he became active as a Parasitic type.
Lenalee: The General made sure to let you eat as much as you needed, didn’t he?
Allen: Well, it wasn’t exactly Master who let me eat, actually…his lovers, more like. The good misses were all extremely wealthy, you see.
Lavi: Man, I’m jealous. The man was living the dream, he was.
Q3: Does Allen like Lenalee romantically? Or is she simply a dear friend?
(T/N—Aight I know I was screaming at Lenalee and Allen featuring together earlier but now I wish one of them wasn’t here because how would we get an honest reaction out of them both now come friggin’ on gaaaaaaaaaargh gurgle gurgle)
Reever: Oh, there’s also the same question for Lavi and Kanda in the pile as well. Alright, lads. Step right up and take turns enlightening us.
Allen: Y-ye-ye-ye-yes??? (Blushing deep red)
Lavi: Oi, Reever! How come you get to dodge this and we don’t, you cheater!!?
Kanda: What a load of bullsh*t……
Lenalee: I love all of you guys (T/N: Agh, f*** me dead, lass!). Aren’t you guys the same…?
Allen: Of course, I love you, Lenalee! You’re my beloved…family, after all. (T/N: After I’m done with this IMMA GO KILL YOU, HOSHINO!)
Lavi: M-m-me too! I love you, too!
Kanda: Ugh. More bullsh*t.
Reever: So, you guys don’t like her as a potential romantic partner?
Allen, Lavi and Kanda: NEXT!! NEXT QUESTION!!! (sweating)
Q4: What is Tyki’s type in women?
Allen and Lavi: THE HELL WE KNOW!!!
Kanda: Reever, choose decent questions, will you?
Reever: Nah. This isn’t me. Hoshino chose all these!
Allen: Whooooo~caaaaaares! Really...
Lavi: Wait, but isn’t he quite obsessed with Allen? Could it be that Allen’s his ty—(and that is when Allen let him have a whack on the dome)
Reever: Oi, oi. Don’t start fighting!
Lenalee: Huh…so, he considers Allen-kun his type?
Allen: No!!! Really! Screw-you-Lavi-you-arse-what-the-hell-did-you-go-blabbering-all-that-crap-for-Oi! (seething)
Lavi: Mr. Allen! Language! Language!
Allen: Lenalee, please! It’s really not like that! That curlyhead’s just your regular old pervert.
Lenalee: But, Allen-kun, you’re…you must know you’re an androgynous, gorgeous young man. That’s why I’m so, so worried right now. Allen-kun…promise me you’ll be careful, okay…?
Allen: Er...Urgh…Alright…(I’m-gunna-freaking-kill-Lavi…)
Lavi: Eep. I sense murderous intent from Alleeeen~

hi! I’m a baby Kaylor and am looking for some answers lol (I am learning my lore) - could you please maybe help me?
I’m having a hard time interpreting the song LONG STORY SHORT, mainly because its heavy-handed reference to Wonderland (aka dianna agron)!
Maybe I’m dumb, but is Taylor here saying that she cheated on Karlie with Dianna? I mean… it sounds crazy because why would she say this in a song?! something like this that could clearly be attributed to dianna. I don’t think Karlie deserves that…..
I don’t know, this one is hard!
Thanks!!!
Hey Baby Kaylor! Welcome to the best place on the internet to discuss all things Kaylor IMO
I’m gonna start by saying it helps a lot to remember that Taylor seems to purposely reuse specific metaphors, imagery, scenarios in her lyrics to allow for wiggle room and a multitude of interpretations on most songs.
Many of her songs read as being about a general sense of loss or panic or pain over a relationship ending vs a specific person she dated. Of course there are many songs that *do* have very specific Kaylor or Emily or Diana vibes with references to events that we have evidence of with pics, videos, magazine articles, etc.
LSS to me has always seemed like it’s about realizing an Ex wasn’t as great as she thought, and she’s got real true love/she’s all about this new person now and happy the bad time/relationship is over and she survived. If you had to twist my arm I’d read it more as a Diana diss track being like man that was insane when she pushed me off the pedestal down the rabbit hole into this relationship that ended up hurting me a lot, but I came out on the other side with a love that wasn’t burning red, but golden-Karlie.
Anyone else’s thoughts/interpretations please reblog and add

Freddie Gibbs - $oul $old $eparately ALBUM REVIEW
Tumblr media
At the end of his 2019 song Education, Freddie Gibbs raps “I changed it up, pray the streets don’t take what’s left of me / Drugs for the free, soul sold separately.” Though we didn’t know it at the time, this lyric from his 2019 collab album with Madlib, Bandana set fans up for what was to come 3 years later. His latest album is actually only his 5th solo album and is the first album of his to not be entirely produced by a single producer since 2018′s Freddie album. Early on, the album was supposed to feature Pharrell production, which is actually nowhere to be heard on $$$. There is an assortment of producers on the album, including ones he has done entire albums with such as Madlib and The Alchemist but Jake One, James Blake, DJ Dahi, JUSTICE League, DJ Paul, Kaytranada and others contribute as well. Though none of them appear on it, $$$ sounds very much in line with the batch of loose singles that were released the year prior (Gang Signs, Black Illuminati, Big Boss Rabbit, Ice Cream). There’s a lot more trap influence from previous albums like Freddie, You Only Live 2wice and Shadow Of A Doubt where Freddie gets into his braggadocios rap style but also reflects in some of those songs too. For those expecting Alfredo or Pinata, you are going to be disappointed as Freddie’s style is much more expansive even though that may be what you prefer from him. Despite what the style is, the bars are still there and he shows that he has one of the best flows in hip hop, which is perfectly exemplified in the bouncy Too Much with Moneybagg Yo where Freddie raps as if he doesn’t need to take a breath. I’ve said this in other reviews of mine before, but I feel like when an artist has put out a lot of albums that sound very distinct from each other, they end up putting one out that sounds like a combination of all of them and I think this one is Freddie’s. You can hear the Alfredo style on the Alchemist-produced Blackest In The Room and the Bandana sound on Grandma’s Stove. The very catchy PYS could’ve fit very comfortably on Shadow Of A Doubt. Lyrically, Freddie is always on point but the best songs on this album are the ones where Freddie gets introspective and shows some personal growth. On the incredible CIA, Freddie raps “Remember them nights when I was broke, I cried on Erica's shoulder and now my tears frozen / Man, I'm just bein' open / When I made ‘Fuckin' Up the Count,’ ain't had no Audemars yet, I was rappin' and hopin'.” On this song, he also reflects on making the XXL Freshman cover when he was still in the streets and about how he wasn’t expecting to get a Grammy nomination for Alfredo. Rabbit Vision is another one of my favorite songs on the album as he finally makes peace with Jeezy, who was one of the earliest rappers to give Freddie a major look and eventually signed him but they fell out many years ago. Since he made the one of the greatest diss tracks of all time, Real, which was aimed towards Jeezy in 2014, he had continued to take shots at him including on Crime Pays so this is definitely a big step and it is great to see Freddie and Jeezy finally make peace. He raps, “Me and Jeezy still ain't spoke in years, but I got love for him / Could've talked it out, but I spoke out, I let it get to me / Showed me I could be a fuckin' boss, best thing he did for me.” The production is pretty great and he’s gotten some good reliable features. that he’s worked with like Rick Ross, Anderson .Paak, Pusha T, and Scarface who Freddie always brings the best out of. Raekwon, Offset, and Musiq Soulchild also contribute some pretty great features as well. While $oul $old $eparately isn’t even close to touching some of his best albums, it is a great album on its own and shows just how far Freddie has come and that he can really do anything.
Fav Tracks: Couldn’t Be Done, Blackest In The Room, Zipper Bagz, Too Much, Rabbit Vision, PYS, CIA, Decoded

a Brocedes playlist song picks? 👀
right where you left me by taylor swift Has to be a nico rosberg anthem
gets long, obviously, below the cut
things that I have already written on this topic: I have previously posted here about taylor swift songs that are brocedes to me and I posted about fall out boy brocedes songs here, I have discussed here the fact that "seventy times 7" by brand new and "there's no i in team" by taking back sunday are literally brocedes (dueling diss tracks by lead singers who were falling out from best friends), as is soco amaretto lime (young brocedes), and while we're on brand new and/or taking back sunday let's briefly discuss the songs degausser and cute without the e (cut from the team), shall we?
other songs that are unconscionably brocedes include literally the entire album the midnight organ fight by frightened rabbit but especially my backwards walk and poke
the rapper dessa spent about fifteen years being in a rap group with someone she kept breaking up with and getting back together with and she wrote several songs about it including (in chronological order): matches to paper dolls, call off your ghost, and half of you
obviously stevie nicks invented doing that, so I have to add landslide by fleetwood mac
frank turner has a number of songs that are very brocedes, the most jarring (tw: self harm) is tell tale signs, the rare lewis pov brocedes song rec from me, but don't sleep on redemption (extremely nico pov), and, hear me out, josephine, which may be the most... positive... song on this list... (I'm an impending car crash and you're the first one on the scene) (I'm napoleon on elba and you're a hundred days in eighteen fifteen I wrote all of these letters to my immortal beloved and you're the only one who's ever gonna know what they mean)
I have definitely cried to garden song by phoebe bridgers while writing the URBP but that might just be specific to that one fic
of course every scholar worth their salt will suggest no children (I hope you die, I hope we both die) and game shows touch our lives (people say friends don't destroy one another, what do they know about friends) by the mountain goats, and of course scholars have also noted that every single song on sour by olivia rodrigo is brocedes but particularly driver's license, good 4 u, and traitor, my fancam tag has several other incredible examples
new lover by josh ritter is post-brocedes... lewis with anyone, tbh. and, especially if you want to get a little religious about it, praying by kesha is extremely post brocedes lewis pov

Coco (and Lulu’s) Legacy
Coco wrote the book on how to be a Hololive member, from front to back. She plotted out how one can amass an audience, how to interact and build a worldwide fandom, how to integrate ideas of the audience to the grand narrative of the company, how to deal with tee-tee and pairings, how to cope when YouTube strikes you down in its impunity, and how to cope when Cancel Brigade comes to destroy your work, along with how to bring a more cohesive workplace, how to protect yourself from the unmooring of identity that is inherent in VTube, and finally how to leave when you are in a rollercoaster that is only going up. Coco wrote the book and now we follow.
AsaCoco was brilliant from its outset. Having a place to know the ins and outs of various members of Hololive was a great way to connect the rabbit hole. But there is a deeper reason for the brilliance. I talked before about how the major tension in VTube is one between the corporate back-end tradition of Japan colliding with the audience front-end tradition of YouTube. AsaCoco is something directly in line with that second tradition. The visual language of YouTube is different from those of movies. A jump cut in a movie denotes a different idea than a jump cut on YouTube. Movie critic complaining about jump cuts in vlogs is like a Spanish reader complaining about a sentence in English being awkward. Of course it is, it’s in a different language. Unlike movies, which come from theatre and literature, vlogs’ lineage comes from news broadcasts. Many of the early web successes were styled in a news format (rocketboom, Ze Frank, What the Buck and so on…) One does not complain about the jump cut between different presenters in a newscast, and so one does not complain when a similar thing happens in vlogs. But the point is that AsaCoco harkens to the audience-based tradition.
One might write off the ARK arc as an aberration, but I think ARK did add something constructive to Hololive and VTubers as a whole. I like to think of ARK as a training wheel for Minecraft. Minecraft is relatively challenging compared to ARK. Minecraft speedruns are mildly impressive, ARK speedrun less so. ARK is actually like the middle ground between Monster Hunter and Minecraft. You can play ARK like Monster Hunter, gather a bunch of friends to hunt monsters, or like Minecraft, build your own zoo or house or so on… And in that flexibility, one can easily learn how to tell a compelling narrative in an open-world setting. Pekora’s war criminal tendencies developed there, Miko’s ‘pon’ nature was crystalized there, and so on…
Holohouse was an underrated achievement. At first, the idea feels like the natural extension of their idol nature. Idols live together, so why not virtual idols? But having virtual idols living together comes with additional benefits that Nijisanji should note.
Stalking is an awful thing, I know since I experienced and have done something similar in my past, but stalking is also a desperate thing. And desperation tends to abate when people are more open about themselves. One of the articles talking about Coco’s graduation infamously notes the mystery of Coco’s identity, which is chucklesome since Coco’s identity might be the most open secret in all of Hololive. This was in line with Hololive’s more open policy, several of Hololive members do their own personal work on the side, while in many early companies, this was forbidden. Nijisanji’s background is less open than Hololive, perhaps due to the number and less mass attention, and that leads to stalking being a more adventurous one. One that livers have to deal with more alone, while for Hololive, it’s likely people would catch and perhaps even tar the perpetrator. More attention means more risk with less excitement.
Holohouse also protects aggressive fan behavior by introducing VTuber solidarity. With more offline collabs, the people would know each other more personally and therefore have a ground of contacts in which to alert suspicious behavior. Safety in numbers.
Holohouse also brought us KanaCoco, which was a lesser known pairing until the couple ring story, and now it has become one of three big couples of Hololive, the other two being NoeFlare and OkaKoro. The big three all have a different style of their tee tee. KanaCoco is the type of a longtime buddy. Both Kanata and Coco struggled with familial and economic circumstances, and they are both struggling under the same roof. And within that struggle comes comity and friendship. It’s not love in your typical sense, but it is a type that would lead to marriage and childrens… but the current LBGTQ+ status in Japan is pretty bad, so tee tee and hush hush it is.
In a sense, KanaCoco provides for an excellent cover. It is one of the most inspiring portrayals of woman-woman friendships in media and it would be one of the more enduring aspect of Coco’s legacy as it passes down through the generations.
[Note: This somehow became an apologia of the past week. Well, I do like to show my thinking with my behavior, perhaps to my detriment, so… just be warned.]
For the past week, I was hyping about the fact that Gura passed Kizuna Ai to become the most-subscribed VTuber. And I made the point, not through immaturity, but because I realized this coincided with Coco’s graduation. Without Coco, there wouldn’t be Hololive English, or Gawr Gura, and therefore this event would not have happened. This, therefore, was one of the last great accomplishments of Coco. An indelible mark of her foresight and perseverance. A realization of her plans. So, in a sense, this was one of my ways of celebrating Coco’s career, albeit in an admittedly twisted way.
But beyond Hololive English, there was the famous Meme Review, which has a weak lineage with the early meme review series from PewDiePie. Now for the digression, whoever ends up at the top gives us a flavor for that specific era, since one naturally assumes success means finesse and would try to emulate the style. Vlogbrother’s visual style and mannerism was largely lifted from Ze Frank. PBS Idea Channel famously emulated Ray William Johnson’s background to his own ends. And Kizuna Ai was famously inspired by PewDiePie at several points in her career. Which is why PewDiePie’s Congratulations felt right as a tribute. One of the big shared characteristics of the two was the lonely years at the top. PewDiePie is probably going to be longest reigning ‘King’ of YouTube for a while (of course, depends on if Cocomelon catches T-Series in due time) and at the time his reign was abnormally long. Most people hold onto the top spot for a year or two, so it felt odd that PewDiePie was untouchable for so long. Similar things must have been raised for Kizuna Ai as well. Many people must have felt that Kizuna Ai just did not represent VTubers at the current time.
So, when competition showed up, of course people were excited. It felt like it was time. I believe PewDiePie’s Congratulations was not a simple diss track, although it’s formatted like one, just due to the culture at the time. So the hypothetical Kizuna Ai version would be extremely light-hearted. The ‘diss’ would be your typical “she’s short”, “she’s hydrodynamic” and so on… it would be clear there is no actual bad blood, and the song would be welcoming of the new era. Era, as I said before, brought on by Coco.
Back to the Meme Review, meme review was great as it centered reddit as the base for the fandom, rather than twitter, which is a horrible platform to bring a sense of communal welcomeness. Reddit is probably the best functional place for stuff like this, even though we all know it has its host of problems that needs to be resolved.
What is the most important stream in Hololive? Well, some people would point to Aqua and Coco’s The Raft stream, which is a poignant encapsulation of a stream. The dramatic counterweight to the other greatest stream in Hololive, Korone’s all-english Mario stream. Aqua and Coco are always the odd pairing, but it could have worked, and it might have been beneficial. Aqua is one of the most shy people in Hololive, and Mio is already busy with Ayame and Subaru, so the best person might have been Coco.
But China. There were two big beneficiaries from China in Hololive, one was Fubuki and the other was Aqua. While Fubuki, in Coco’s last months, famously went out of her way to intertwine herself with Coco to directly redirect her audience, like the mensch she is, Aqua always struggled with her audience retention, therefore played shy with Coco.
Edit: Well, my initial final impression was… what a wonderful finish. The interview portion was well-meant, but honestly a little formal. When the 4th Gen went together, is when the stream turned into something special for me, and the final performance was actually really well-done. Coco went out like an idol, which makes sense. For whatever provocation Coco perpetuated, Coco only did them out of love. And ultimately Cover knew that. Coco’s final month was a warning and a reminder.
Can I talk about all the different tributes lately? In some sense, Usaken Summer Festival is part of this… for an organization that is immensely popular, I just adore how Cover and their talent always has this drive to throw everything and see if it works. I noticed this during Golden Week. Golden Week in Hololive was jam packed. There were great events, Mio’s morning stream was astounding, leading to one of biggest growth spurt for Mio. Miko’s drawing collab was absolutely hilarious, for such a simple and seemingly hastily put idea. One of the people in a forum commented on this and affixed something that left my mind… what did Nijisanji during the same week? Even I was surprised by how little Nijisanji did that Golden week. They barely did anything!
The innovative spirit does give them trouble, more than it is worth, but Cover never really stopped its momentum, even when most other companies would have stopped a long time ago! This is the greatest thing about Hololive and Cover, the most redeeming feature. One that would serve them well. Coco wrote the playing book, let us pray that Cover sticks to them, because the fall of Cover comes the moment they stray.
The Pre-Coco era was about a company struggling to get their idea through. The Coco era was about writing the playing book. So the Post-Coco era will be about remembrance, it’ll be a struggle to keep the memory of what the playing book is. It’ll be about them being Hololive as they become part of the global zeitgeist.

i’m bored so here’s my DA1
DA1 - running
it’s titled running because of the reoccurring theme of her being a free spirit who isn’t one for settling down.
1. topless
- a song about seeing lea for the first time in spring awakening topless, hooking up with her that night, and being off and on fuck buddies
2. we’re all mad here
- how everyone in the industry is psychotic to a degree. it also takes a turn and explains how she thinks she’s psychotic for falling down the rabbit hole and thinking it could actually work.
3. gorgeous
- klossgron anthem. mix of wildest dreams and gorgeous, total rip-off of taylor’s music yet really sexy. mentions a giraffe somewhere.
4. oil illusion
- nod to the oil lamp in the clm video, basically confirming dianna is a gold digger yet somehow manages to make the gp believe this song is about someone she dated being a gold digger.
5. not in control
- this one is about shirtgate and how she tried to come out but the powers that be made her walk it back. she couldn’t control certain parts of her image and now she doesn’t want to be in a confining relationship because it will make her feel just as bad as when she wasn’t in control during shirtgate. the songs explores her reluctance to settle down, subtle diss at how she didn’t like settling down with winston.
6. 237
- winston diss track. title references the apartment he bought at 237 lafayette street.
7. sisterhood
- sounds like a blondterage anthem, kind of is, but really is just a dolly love song.
8. lighthouse
- basically about how, even though she doesn’t really like settling down (her going out to sea), her lighthouse (taylor) is always there when she’s looking for something warm and familiar.
amazing i esp love lighthouse!

Killstream w/ Onision 3/30/2020 - Summary Part 4
Re-Upload
(Unless specifically stated, everything written is from Greg / James’ words. Parenthesis are my notes/thoughts.):
Host is reading questions from fans who paid. Someone asked if Greg really went to SERE school and if he passed. Greg says he flunked out because he couldn't kill a rabbit.
Someone asked why he isn’t friends with Cyr, says they heard it was because they heard Cyr didn’t vote for Hillary in 2016. Greg says this is why he likes NDA’s, this could have been handled privately and they would still be friends. Says Cyr voted independent and that’s retarded. It escalated after Cyr’s girlfriend Dasha got involved. He says Dasha is the girl Cyr hit. Dasha was anti-o and Cyr became one. (It did not escalate because of Dasha. Greg publicly terminated the friendship way before she got involved. This was in November 2016. Cyr and Greg had a few jabs at each other after. In December, Cyr made a diss track about how Greg profits off of drama and makes fake drama. Greg made a diss track in response about Cyr and in it he called Dahsa a “Russian prostitute”. That’s when she started started tweeting against Greg. Their friendship was already dead at that point.)
Greg says Hansen says the window thing was all Greg’s fault. (Did he? I don’t recall that. EDIT: No he didn’t. They just talked about how they thought it was strange he filmed his child after.)
Greg says Sarah was the worst out of all (the exes I guess?) because she went after Kai, who did nothing wrong. Sarah wanted vengeance because Greg hurt her feelings. He says Billie admitted she’s a vengeful person and Shiloh is bat shit crazy, as Edwin found out. He says the crazy can’t hide in some people and it comes out quick. He says when she said she was going to kill herself and make it look like he did it, his mom and aunt laughed sadistically over the phone when they heard it. He says he was weirded out but now he kind of gets it because the situation was so ridiculous.
Keem asks if Greg was molested by his dad. Greg says no, but his dad is an accused child molester and he doesn’t remember most of his childhood. He says according to people, his dad and other family members were molested and maybe that’s why he (his father) is an alleged molester.
Greg says he was never touched by an adult, but when he was 11 he finger banged a girl that was 4 years older than him because she went to his bed. Everyone reacts really shocked and sympathetic. “Oh man.” “Oh bro.” He says it was his first kiss too. Host asks if he understands he was molested and they’re all concerned. Greg asks how he suffered. Host says it sounds like he was molested in his voice. Keem says something about people who were molested when they were young have a nasally voice. Host says a lot of people are emotionally stunted from being molested. Greg says he really doesn’t think he was molested and his dad wasn’t into penis.
They talk about Greg’s livestream with Newsweek guy. Keems says Greg steamrolled him. Keem talks about a bad experience he had with the same reporter.
They read an anonymous submission to a blog where anon accuses of Greg of influencing their friend to commit suicide because of his Speaks videos. (From back when they were opinion / advise videos.) Greg in response reads tweets from fans saying he saved their life. He says you can’t pick and chose who you believe.
They play the clip of Holly on Hansen’s stream accusing Greg of influencing a fan to starve them self to death because of his videos. Everyone (but Greg) says they don’t believe it and laugh. Greg says she’s lying because she’s looking up to the right.
Greg says Repzion gave up on being a Youtuber and went to welding school, but started up again when he made a video about the Wetlands. Says Repzion thanked Greg for rebooting his career. (I’m pretty sure Repzion thanked him for paying off his schooling, but idk. I don’t feel like looking that one up, but I thought Repzion said he’s not a Youtuber anymore, just does it on the side.)
Keem says the anti-o movement imploded because Greg wasn’t arrested and there’s nothing to talk about anymore so they make up lies. Greg says he was mean to a lot of people so they wanted to hurt him and their shining knight (Hansen) flopped on his face. Host agrees.
Host goes back to reading questions. Someone asked if Greg is gay because he’s with Kai. Greg says he’s “2020 gay, not 2019 gay.” (I think this was a joke? I’m really not sure. It was a flat delivery for him, not a typical joking style for him.)
Greg decides to defend himself for taking a photo of his kid after she fell out of a window even though no one brought it up. He says you know when someone takes a picture of a body before they move it? That’s what he did. He says he took a video from the window down to show where the impact happened. He says it would be for the doctor or detective if they needed it. He says it’s important to know how the child fell. Host asks what he would say to someone who never heard of anyone doing that before. He says he had time to think about it and the other parent was bending down,  blocking part of the child. He says he told the detective he learned to do that from Shiloh because he filmed himself so they would know what he was doing when he waited for the police to show up and to show she wasn’t murdered by him. He says he also gave the ring video. Host asks if “other parent” was the mother. Greg says it’s complicated with the transgender thing, but yes technically mother.
Keem asks if Greg felt responsible or guilty. Greg says it could have been avoided if he was smarter. He says it wouldn’t have happened to other parents that were more paranoid about windows. He thought he positioned the bed in a way she couldn’t climb onto it. Only the corner of the bed was by the window. He says if she grows up to blame him, technically he is to blame. Throughout him saying this, they keep asking but did you feel guilty? He finally answers yes and laughs. Keem says it’s normal for a parent to feel guilty. Greg says it’s on whoever was watching the kid at the time (I guess that would have been Kai?), but then he says you could spend all day trying to figure out why it’s not your fault.
Greg says when he was at VidCon someone yelled “SHANE DAWSON” at him. He turned around and they were like, “oh.” He says he hates that.
Keem asked if he wore a bulletproof to VidCon. Greg says he got death threats and didn’t care if he looked stupid. He says everyone thought it was stupid until the Christina Grimme thing happened, but she got shot in the face so that wouldn’t help. Keem asks if wore it to court. Greg says yes. Says people said he wore it backwards but he doesn’t know what the fuck they’re talking about. He says he didn’t want to get stabbed. Says it’s stab proof and 9mm proof.
Someone asks how young to too young. Greg says no if you’re under 25, you’re too young for him.
Someone asks what he plans to do when this is over. Greg says CGI porn, it’s pretty fun.
Someone asks why he didn’t do anything after his moderators told him there were undesirables on his forums. Greg says it was their job to ban them. He says his Discord moderators mostly ban people, he rarely bans anyone. Moderators are there to do their fucking job, not ask questions.
Someone asked why he continued to make videos about Eugenia Cooney after she asked him to stop. He says he kept making videos about her because they were positive, but the anti-o retards don’t hear him. He says if he asks Repzion to stop making videos about him and Rep started making videos about how much he loves Onision, he wouldn’t tell him to stop again. He says Eugenia said to stop making negative videos and never complained after that. (That is not true. She sent the email asking him to stop in Feb 2017. After, he went on to make 55 more videos about her including many “negative” videos such as a video where he starved her to death in The Sims and a video of him laughing at her being beat up in a WWE game. Here is a timeline.)

hey icha whats hypmic??
Heyaaa and ooooh dear where do i even begin…..
Erg so in very short it’s a musical mixed media story that have kind of a corny set up that is mostly an excuse to have fictional male characters of different background involve themselves into rap battles? Most of its content comes from songs and drama CD, even if there are a few manga adaptation covering a couple of the drama tracks (albeit all those covered are how the teams got together and all).
In a little more depth: Basically a group of 12 Seiyuu decided to band together into a principe of rap battle, that would also give a spotlight to multiple rap artists in Japan, as they do collaboration by writting/composing the songs. All of the Seiyuu play different characters divided in 4 divisions: Buster Bros!! for Ikebukuro, Mad Trigger Crew for Yokohama, Fling Posse for Shibuya, and Matenrou for Shinjuku. Each divisions/characters have distinct styles of music or text to differenciate them.
The idea is that, after World War 3 and a lot of the population dying, weapons causing harms had been outlawed, instead remplaced by what we call Hypnosis Microphone (or Hypmic), weapons that attack the brain via its sonic vibes, thus are more powerful depending on how savy you are with words and sounds and all of that. (like i said, it’s corny, it’s really just a pretext for the battles ahah)
The Government, that is kinda shady, took hold into Chuuouku, the center of the city, and the rest of the towns are left to fend for their own, indulging in territories battles. By the time the story start, 4 teams have taken a hand into 4 divisions where they try their best to low the crime rate and make life better, this sort of stuff. Recently however, the Government decided to keep a closer eye on the Rap Battle themselves, organizing huge Event in Chuuouku for the Divisions to fight each other, and the winner can therefore have major impact on what gets developped in the city and all.
It’s also important to know that the 4 leaders of the divisions, Ichiro, Samatoki, Ramuda and Jakurai, used to be in a band together, The Dirty Dawg, and they were very close - Something ended up breaking up the band (it is unsure what it is exactly) and left them with sort of bittersweet relationship with each other as they’re now in a position where they have to fight each other.
Again though most of it is mostly a pretext for songs and character driven plotlines for those 12 to fuck shit up:
youtube
(here a link to the translation, and here’s a link for the playlist of the songs they put on youtube - mostly previews except for the Ensemble songs - i can send the full songs/drama CDs but in private since it’s… illegal and all. You’ll find all the translations out on this website, and here you’ll find the drama tracks. And there for the solo songs only but idk how long this website will keep them up.)
(btw here’s the second ensemble song and here’s the third one - i tend to prefer them to the first one so here they are)
So like i said, corny, but character driven and i love those morons, and the songs are bangers, and i ended up loving it ways too much.
I’ll enter more in depth on the Divisions under the cut bc i do think knowing a bit the characters give a better idea but yeah kdjfhd my latest obsession rip.
If you’re reading this i’m so sorry i’m going to geek out over my 12 stupid sons.
btw (MC: ___) is their scene names, basically.
And erg while i try to avoid spoilers from the latest season, there’s a lot of “spoilers” from backstory exposition or information spreads through the drama tracks and the songs, so either just scroll to see the name and all or read at your own risks?
Tumblr media
Buster Bros!!! representing Ikebukuro Division - in red, Ichiro Yamada (19yo) the leader,in blue, Jiro Yamada (16yo), in yellow Saburo Yamada (14). (Previews of their solo songs, preview of their first group song Ikebukuro West Game Park, their second group song: Ohayo Ikebukuro!)
Ichiro, Jiro and Saburo are brothers - they are orphans (unknown why but since Ichiro rejects any fathr figure p strongly i think it’s linked to their father) and Ichiro, the eldest brother, had taken care of his two little brothers most of his life to the point of being a delicant before being recruited by the Dirty Dawg. Before the story started the boys weren’t all that close, but by now, both little brothers want to prove their worth to their eldest brothers and when the Dirty Dawg broke up and Ichiro had to figure out which team to make for the Rap Battles, both brothers offered to help. Despite both being ways too young for this they still both ended up proving themselves. They also tend to fight for their big brother’s attention a lot.
Ichiro (MC Big Brother) himself seems to be a rather warm and friendly person - he works odd jobs all around town, kind of like a mercenary but doing just… any sort of work being asked of him, just not in the illegal stuff when he can avoid it. He’s rather hot headed. He used to be very close from the Dirty Dawg who took care of him when they met, especially Samatoki, but since the band’s break up, it seems there is a particularly sour relationship with Samatoki neither of them are over with. Ichiro often disses Samatoki out of nowhere in his raps lmao. Aside from that he’s a complete geek and loves manga and anime and video game - all the stuff you’d expect.
Jiro, (MC Middle Brother) the second, tends to follow Ichiro’s path a lot, being a bit in delincance and stuff, creating himself a web of contacts. He tends to copy Ichiro in his passions in order to impress him. He’s also very social and get friends very easily. He’s constantly bickering with Saburo who seems to see their “brotherhood” as a competition. They used to be very close when they were younger but now they’re always at each other’s throat.
Saburo (MC Little Brother), the third, doesn’t really want to follow the path of his brothers but he wants to be useful in his own way. Incredibly clever, he is a very good hacker and can find information very quickly. He also has some of the sickest burn of the lot but i’m biased. Unlike Jiro, Saburo is really not social at all and has very few friends. His whole world is about being the best he can be for Ichiro. He likes things that can stimulate his brian, especially board games and the likes.

Mad Trigger Crew, representing Yokohama Divison- Center in white, Samatoki Aohitsugi(25) the Leader - with glasses, Juuto Iruma (29), in military uniform, Riou Busujima Manson (28).(Previews of their solo songs, preview of their first group song: Yokohama Walker, their second group song: Dead Pools)
If The BB are linked by the fact they’re brothers, MTC is linked by being….. Involved in armed illegal activities? Samatoki is the second in command of a Yakuza family, Juuto is a corrupted cop who is close to Samatoki because of… work…. and Riou kinda ended up tagging along. Anyway they’re in charge of Yokohama which seems to be a part of the city that suffered pretty badly from the war and have high crime rates.
In more details, Samatoki (MC Mr Hardcore) is involved in the mafia. He explains in his personal song that his mother killed his abusive father before killing herself, leaving him to take care of his little sister, Nemu, which is what led him to a life of crime. His Yakuza clan seems to have a honor code though so they’re not involved in too much dirty stuff. Every sacrifice Samatoki did was for his sister. So obviously he saw a bit of himself in Ichiro when they originally met, and was one of the influencial force to keep Ichiro out of the crime life knowing pretty well where it’s headed. The Band breakup left a particularly sour taste in Samatoki’s mouth regarding Ichiro, feeling betrayed by whatever happened back then, and since then he tends to be. touchy. when it’s question of Ichiro. As in, almost caused a car crash while he wasn’t driving just thinking about Ichiro. He’s a mess. He’s also very short tempered.
Juuto (MC 45 Rabbit) is a corrupted cop: while he works with the police and all the stuff, he has ties with Samatoki’s yakuza clan and will do shady stuff in order to maintain this alliance. Mostly blackmail, bailing Samatoki out of jail, all this sort of things. He seems to have a specific reason to accept it, a necessary evil to get rid of wickedness in the city. Juuto’s backstory was only developped in the latest drama tracks so it would count as spoilers but let’s say he has reasons to do so.He’s generally more down to earth and more tongue in cheek. He knows how to pick up people’s weaknesses let’s say.
Riou (MC Crazy M) is an army man who isn’t aware the war is over. He has been living in survival mode in the forest of Yokohama for the past few years, having also one of the prototype Hypnosis Mic, with more raw power. His hobbies is to cook from… unusual sources. Samatoki and Juuto are terrified by his cooking.  There isn’t much revealed yet about Riou’s backstory however. Juuto found out about him and put him in contact with Samatoki when it was question to develop MTC, and they have since then developped a companionship of sort.
Tumblr media
Fling Posse, representing Shibuya Division (also they’re my favs❤ which will be obvious in two mins bc i rambled much more about them holy fuck)- In the middle with pink hair, Ramuda Amemura (24), with brown hair, Gentaro Yumeno (24), with blue hair, Dice Arisugawa (20)(Previews of their solo songs, preview of their first group song, Shibuya Marble Texture, their second group song: Stella (aka my most listened hypmic song that made me unhealthily obsessed with the series) )
I don’t even know where to start with them. Don’t be fooled by how cute they look, they’re the most shady group. Officially, they’ve all been recruited by Ramuda “only for the thrill of it”, “To kill boredom”, but it also happens that they are the three with the most ties to the government. But none of them tend to really talk about it. Not really. They are very “living in the present” kind of people, even if it comes with risks. Ramuda gathered them for his own agenda. Neither Gentaro nor Dice knew each other before Ramuda put them together and neither know why Ramuda gathered them aside as “for the thrill”. Gentaro however has major doubts over the kind of person Ramuda is.
Ramuda (MC Easy R) is their leader. He is a fashion designer. He was the one who put the Dirty Dawg together back in the days, and seems to have… weird reasons to do anything he’s ever doing. Honestly i don’t know how to even touch how shady he is, but he’s all shade of shady. He will however always sound super cute. The only person he seems to not bear the sight of is Jakurai, his ex-teammate from the Dirty Dawg. They used to be very close but now things are very tense in between them, mostly with Ramuda setting as much distances as possible he can and hardly managing to remain cheerful around him.
Gentaro (MC Phantom) is a writter and also a chronic liar. You litterally cannot trust a single thing coming out of his mouth, he’s always making something up. His personal song is supposed to talk about his past but there’s like, a big lie in the begining of it (”I was born in winter” yOU’RE BORN ON APRIL THE FIRST.). One thing that is certain about him however, is that he has a friend who is very sick and at the hospital and that it seems to be the motivation behind all of his lies, as he started to make up fictions to cheer up his friend and turned his own life into a fiction by extension. There’s more shady stuff about him and his past, i could discuss it for hours (he’s my fav kdhfd). But mostly, he’s just the kind to tease people a lot and to not really expect to have friends that stick arounds, considering himself a untrustworthy unredeemable trash. He has a weird dynamic with his own sense of self, always making up false selves. I legit could talk for hours about it kdjhfd.  He tends to over-tease Dice because Dice falls for every single of his lies, and he tends to have a soft spot for him. He’s also extremely observant since he writes story he makes up from people he observes, so he catches on stuff more easily. Gentaro’s lyrics are often more inclined toward poetry or well, work of fictions (he wrote Stella in verse and Stella is kindof a Posse!Au of how Gentaro sees the Posse. Stellaaaaaa)
Dice (MC Dead or Alive)  is… a professional disaster? Joke aside, he’s a gambler who tends to push his luck a loooot. (there’s a lot of implications about how he doesn’t have a stable place to crash in because most of his rent money go into gambling). His outlook on life are really mostly that he wants to live a life that gives him legit thrills. He hates being bored. It’s heavily implied that he comes from a rich, influencial family but threw it all away for his addiction.  The only reason he agreed to join the Posse was for the thrill the rap battles would provide. He also kinda considers himself a lowrate trash due to the lifestyle he’s living. He’s rather guilible, falling for every single of Gentaro’s lies despite how obvious they are, and gets teased a lot by both of his teammates. He’s also fiercely protective and combative. He is also the king of bad decisions and of having to drag his posse in them. (well mostly Gentaro). He’s also loves the Posse in itself and is the one who’s the most likely to brag about how great his band is. He genuinely loves his teammates and it makes me so soft,,. He’s also very perceptive, realizing very quickly when his teammates are changing their mood. And again he protecc,,
Tumblr media
Matenrou - Representing Shinjuku DivisionCenter with purple hair: Jakurai Jinguji (35), the blond is Hifumi Izanami (29) and the gingerhead is Doppo Kannonzaka (29)(Previews of their solo songs, preview of their first group song, Shinjuku Style, their second group song: Papiyon that wasn’t put on youtube yet but should in a couple of weeks)
Matenrou is the band with the darkest aesthetic, protecting the Shinjuku’s division that came to be known mostly for the health problems, if i understand well also because the only functioning hospital is located there. Jakurai is a doctor and Doppo is his patient, while Hifumi is Doppo’s childhood friend and roomate. They end up tangled together after Hifumi gets threats on his life pushing Doppo to reach out for Jakurai, who took an interest on them as possible teammates when everything unfolded.
Jakurai (MC ill-Doc) is… an interesting character i dare not to spoil the backstory of but let’s say he has some dark past. As a person however, he is fascinated by people’s psychee, how they work, what pushes them to do stuff, and is therefore attracted to “interesting people”, people that makes him want to explore human’s psychee. Back in the Dirty Dawg’s day, it was what drove Jakurai to be very interested in Ramuda…. Until he considered Ramuda’s humanity too lost to be saved after the band broke up, which Jakurai blames partially on Ramuda. Ramuda remains the only person to have ever made Jakurai lose his patience. Otherwise, Jakurai is a rather collected and a very kind man, who tries to reach out and help others when he can. But again, dark past and stuff and some shady stuff went on with Ramuda. He found an interest in Doppo and Hifumi as he got to know them and now is rather protective of the two of them, often going fishing with Hifumi and doing anything to uplift Doppo. He’s also a terrible drinker. Don’t let him drink. He has one of my favorite solo song though and he has a sort of goth existantialism vibe to him i just love.
Hifumi (MC Gigolo) is Doppo’s childhood best friend and roomate. Now Hifumi’s story is a bit huh.. particular. When he was very young he had had a very traumatic experience with women that led him to be utterly terrified of being even nearby one. When he reached adulthood, he considered he couldn’t keep going like that and forced himself into a woman dominated space by becoming a Host, to overcome his fear. It was so hard on him however that he ended up… coping by considering that when he was wearing the Suit of the Host, he was a complete different person. Not quite split personality, but autosuggestion mostly. He gets into all sort of troubles with the suit on however. The only person he relies completely on is Doppo, whom he knows from childhood and with whom he lives. Hifumi is a good cook, and is always trying to cheer up his friend. because…
Doppo (MC Doppo) is an anxious disaster of a man. He’s your typical overworked office worker, who is handling this life pretty badly. He feels like his whole life is something he should be apologizing for, which he does all the time. He’s honestly unhealthily anxious and that’s why he is Jakurai’s patient.  He’s seriously a depressed, anxious disaster who’s only light seems to mostly be that Hifumi cheers on him all the time… when Hifumi doesn’t create a terrible situation Doppo feels like he has to apologize for. However Doppo is someone you can rely on, with a lot of frustration bottled inside him to the  point of it becoming an amazing weapon once unleashed with the rap battles. He’s very quick and ressourceful when put into extreme lifethreatening situation, which got Jakurai’s attention a lot.
Tumblr media
So this is the main divisions and characters. There are more developped via the drama CDs obviously, more plot and all, but that’s the gist of it. Honestly again it’s just a pretext for characters and songs that fits their characters.
I personally never expected to care about it that much - i have friends who had been talking about it for over a year and i just knew it a bit in passing until i started to casually listen to the songs - and then i went down the rabbit hole when i ended up loving the songs too much to not care for the characters. (Stella was my breaking point though. The moment it came out I was lost. This was the moment i dedicated myself to it. I could go on a full ramble just on Stella alone.)
And yeah it kinda shows i have a major bias but my favs are truly the Posse - both as characters and as music style goes. Close second is Matenrou though i love their aesthetics.
the first battle season is over, it’s easy to know from their youtube how it unfolded ahah. The first round was BB VS MTC, the second FP VS MTR. Each rounds came with drama CD setting up the dynamics of the characters in and out of their bands, which was pretty cool.
After the First Battle Season ended we were blessed with a drama track and song from the Dirty Dawg era which is why i cannot stop shutting the fuck up about it dkjhfd it makes me so sad to look back to how close they were and how they threw all of this away….
Now a new season is starting but this is where we’re missing translations so we just… wait.
There are a few manga that covers a few of the drama tracks but not all, and there will be a mobile game soon.
But yeah that’s. that’s basically the basis.
And it is far too entertaining to me kdjhfd
and i probably shouldn’t have written all of that with a killer headache but i,, love they,,,
so yeah this is all there is to know. If you’ve read it this far… i admire your patience. Thank u
And take care!

-i think more than half of the audience liked audience participation (??? how???)
-in the things they said they weren’t gonna do it was erotic roleplay and the lights shut off, then came back on and dan was doing the dainty knee pose and holding the handcuffs and phil was on the other side with a police hat and baton and he was smacking his hand with the baton and said something along the lines of “dan, you’ve been a bad, bad boy” and dan said “please be gentle with the handcuffs i have sensitive skin” (position of it i drew in picsart with my finger included below)

-“there’s no jesus in this room tonight.” -dan howell
-on wholesome howell vs x-rated lester when it was still showing dan as evil and he had that black lipstick on dan said something about it but i don’t quite remember but i think it was something positive about it
-another thing from the things we aren’t doing was “dressing up in our pastel fursonas” or something and they had ears or something and phil had a stuffed rabbit teddy and the narrator was like “can we get an aww?” and we all aww’d and dan fake gagged
-they named us susan
-they were like “on 3, clap” and we all started clapping and dan was like “BAD SUSAN. SUSAN, STOP. SUSAN, SIT. SUSAN, BEG”
-some events led to dan saying “looks like phil got a bit TOO excited. you should go take a cold shower”
-on the mind reading bit dan said “pepe” (i think) and phil said “guacamole” and dans like “wait whAT DID YOU SAY??” and phil starts singing the guacamole song and dans like “NOO I JUST GOT THAT SONG OUT OF MY HEAD”
-dan ended up in a polyamorous relationship with five furries
-phil was stroking the tension and dan was like “WHY ARE YOU STROKING THE TENSION?? I DON’T THINK IT WANTS THAT”
-on the full rotation of the wheel dan looked like he was trying to curl in on himself. poor boy
i will update if i remember more. also i recorded the audio of like 17 mins of the first half but the audio is really shit so idk if i’ll upload it.

September 26, 2018 Mix
This week as I was curating the playlist, I got to thinking a lot about the way that our mood at a particular moment affects the music we choose to listen to. Some people say that they pick music the opposite of their mood to counteract a bad day, some choose to delve into that feeling and get in touch with it. I, being the latter, am having a memory ridden, reflective sort of week, so I chose songs that talk about the past a little bit and how they can influence the present/future. I hope you enjoy and find something that suits your mood.
Spotify Playlist 1. Planet Hunter by Wolf Alice - This song is all about trying to recreate memories of something or with someone that happened awhile back, events which were really positive, but they cannot be rehabilitated. The artist reminds me of if Taylor Swift had not become a pop music sellout and instead taken a dark moody indie music route, and well, the results are stunning because she creates a depth of feeling to the music that most pop cannot do, in my opinion. The part I relate to the most that struck me was the repeated phrase of "I left my mind behind in 2015" which reaches a point where we, as listeners, realize that there are peaks in our lives that we wish to return to, especially at some of our valleys. I love this because it is an upbeat song about feeling out of place in the present, which is really fascinating. 2. St. Paul by Ritchy Mitch & The Coal Miners - Honestly, the piano that tinkles into a wonderful melody/rift in the beginning has to be the most alluring part of this song, which eventually becomes a much bigger feeling as it continues on. There aren't many striking piano-driven songs these days, so I was impressed with that along with the fact that this song clearly disses a saint, yet doesn't seem offensive in the slightest because it is so personal and not an attack on anything but oneself's feelings. The instrumentals and their uncertainty directly correlate with the restlessness of the lyrics and the crunchy sound of the singer's vocals; we love to see a parallel of the sound of the music to the actual meaning behind the song. All the literary techniques used to write a song is the reason why our ears are so attuned to it. 3. Window by Nana Grizol - Going along with the recurring theme of memories and the past, this song is literally a metaphor for a window looking into the past of what something once was. The defining line of this song comes when the singer refers to the window of the past and saying that "we can lift them/and focus on the moments that we lift in" which is a beautiful shift in tone from a reminiscent tune to one that look towards changing for the better and leaving the memories (whether good, bad or ugly) behind for someone else to revolve around. The artist, Nana Grizol, often covers really broad topics, such as negative feelings, the passing of time, moving on in a really succinct way that reaches an audience who needs to hear mantras in a refreshing way. I like to think of this song as a meditative yoga for the ears, please practice daily. 4. Solitary Daughter by Bedouine - I found this song in the most interesting way, so here it is: I was in the Mcnally Jackson bookstore on Prince Street in the city, rifling through the poetry section (as one does) and stumbled upon a book that transcribed songs into poems and included commentary from other writers and from the artists themselves, in a lot of cases. Reading these lyrics as a poem in a book was so thrilling because I often talk a lot about how some songs are really just poetry set to music, and in this case, other people must have thought so too. This piece is incredible in its way of speaking about a woman not needing someone to rely on or anything to sustain her, except for her own self, her home is herself, which is so liberating to both hear and read. I highly recommend reading the lyrics alongside listening. 5. Chemicals by Gregory Alan Isokov - Off of his brand new EP "Dark, Dark, Dark" which was released not but six days ago, is this peaceful and meaningful acoustic folky ballad by a personal favorite of mine. This piece is especially interesting because it plays off of the notion of the different ways in which chemicals can affect a person's body, kind of like the way a person who is really important in one's life can do the same. An image that I love to see showing up in art is the trope of hands trying to reach one another, whether it be in the "Creation of Adam" or an old film. This song plays with this lost hands imagery, in the line "how my hands can't seem to find your hands in the dark", which if I wasn't already in love with the song, sealed the deal for me 100%. Definitely check out the other two tracks off of the EP, they are wonderful as well. 6. Slipped by The National - This week's mix all began with this one sad ballad by my current favorite group and it just built off of this. I cannot express with words, on paper or in person, how much I am tethered to the lyrics of this song. Something about the raw and honest way that this was strung together speaks to a person who is done with being vulnerable to someone who has no intention in showing hidden parts of themselves back. In this narrative song, the speaker is talking to a girl who left the city to go to a more rural area in the South, thus separating the two, and telling how tragic it is to break away from something when he could not be what she wanted him to be. This is a solemn and intense vow to oneself that they will not break down and fall apart because of a love ending, this is another mantra. 7. We're So Lost by Voom - Upon first instinct, I would like to classify this song under tracks I would listen to whilst laying under the stars and thinking about our existence in such a big place or while slow dancing with someone and contemplating what is going on. But now, even in a good mood this song makes sense because no matter how you feel in terms of being in this world, everyone can agree that we have no idea what we're doing most of the times and are mere beings that are floating through time and space, trying to determine why we were placed here in the first place. In some ways, this can be thought of as a slow rock philosophical crisis song, or you can just love it because of the waltz like beauty of it. Your choice. 8. Fuck Love by Lalić - I definitely expected a cynical, bitter, anger driven song when looking at the title, but if I can say any cliché here, it's don't judge a song (book) based on its title (cover). If anything, it's more of a love song, explaining that the speaker has no real reason to be saying things like "fuck love". I think this is interesting because oftentimes, people don't like to be honest with themselves about their emotions, so instead they put up their walls immediately and turn to sarcastic, defensive comments like "i hate everyone" "love suck" or.... "fuck love". Being one of these people, this song opens up that term and exposes us hate poseurs who are very sensitive and truly love to love. The low fi rock sounds with a strong guitar line is nice to hear as well. 9. Blood Bank by Bon Iver - He is so detailed in his description of bags of blood, I have to believe that he actually had a conversation with someone he loved at a blood bank, discussing the differences between people's blood... which is... interesting. It is also vital to this song to understand that the two separate memories he tells about are very closely related because he is explaining the variability of relationships and how to decide whether it is prudent to enter into an affair or to be your own person and indulge in lonely behavior. Of course, it never hurts to be told really emotional things like this with Bon Iver's delicate crooning and layered harmonies that build throughout with such simple complexity, unmatched by other singers in his genre. 10. How It Gets In by Frightened Rabbit ft. Julien Baker - Your first question after listening may very well be "how what gets in?" as my first question was this exact thing. Maybe what gets in is this undeniably wonderful call and response song along with angelic harmonies. But maybe, what gets in, at least in terms of this song, is the literal healing of an open wound and how to properly dress it and make sure it doesn't get infected, or at least that was what was accounted by the singers in question. I interpreted the song to be a recounting and lesson on how love can come into one's life in unexpected places, and how just because there was hurt and pain in the heart for a long time, does not mean it has to stay that way forever. 11. NFWMB by Hozier - This acronym is probably the smartest thing I have experienced in a song's title in a long time: NFWMB is really Nothing Fucks With My Baby, expressed in a classy way, courtesy of the forest prince and love of my life, Andrew Hozier-Byrne. As always, there are several biblical references and apocalyptic death metaphors, which always leaves me feeling very confused and inspired at the same time. The very jazz and blues influenced low key rock song is so different from other love songs that it kind of creates its own category in that sense. It is described by others as "the love song for the end of the world" therefore going back to my feelings of apocalypse, decay and biblical tellings. 12. One In A Million by Hudson Taylor - "You gotta be cruel if you wanna be kind" ok this just hit me way too hard and true. The only way I even discovered this artist is actually because they are opening up for the Hozier concert I am attending tonight and now I am super excited to see them perform as the opening act as well. They remind me of a toned down version of The Kooks in a lot of shared vocals and chord progressions and upbeat instrumentals, except they are a duo hailing from Ireland and they classify themselves a folk band, though the punk/alternative rock influences found in this song are undeniably present. Also present is the message of knowing someone doesn't care about you the way you care about them and needing to be released from that sort of madness... cool. 13. Into The Mystic by Van Morrison - I'm probably not introducing anybody to this song for the first time right now and certainly not the last, but something about the changing of the seasons and the shift of weather from summer to autumn calls out to the mystical and slow dance vibe that this classic and iconic folky rock song inspires. There is absolutely nothing better than the buildup from quiet lull to the horn heavy chorus and interlude that just makes you want to stop and dance wherever you are in your day. Another musical aspect that is highly appreciated by yours truly is the intricate acoustic guitar rift that is taken and shifted into a lot of newer acoustic based songs that we hear all the time these days. The past influences the present and the present is heard in the past all the time, especially in music. 14. Size Of The Moon by Pinegrove - Shifting into a more heavy punk, angst themed style of music is this memory driven song which tells us about a time where the speaker is thinking on the communication issues that occurred in a relationship and how they could have easily been remedied, but there was no effort on the other half's side. From an interpretation of the song, one person smartly said, "It’s really easy to indulge in nostalgia when you’re at a rocky part of a relationship. Suddenly everything appears better than the present, no matter how imperfect those times were." I have to concur with this notion because our perception of the past changes over time and when we miss someone, at times, we look at bad memories and they even start to seem better than being alone... but they are not. 15. Kathleen by Catfish and the Bottlemen - Another song geared towards a relationship not working out the way it's supposed to is from a band that is one of my all time favorites. Their comical British style of lyrics is so appealing to my American way of thinking of things and the heartfelt honesty heard in their songs play along quite nicely with the super power rock style in which they are written. This tune in specifics, is not about the past, but the present and trying to reflect on what is going on in the "now" which is a really complicated thing to try and do, when you are infatuated with someone. The instability is heard not just in the lyrics, but also in the interchanging chords of the electric guitar and the fast paced anxiety ridden drumbeat, which is awesome.. 16. Holland, 1945 by Neutral Milk Hotel - This band is one of the weirdest, coolest ones that only the people who love grating vocals and intense lyrics can truly appreciate to the desired capacity. The whole album, from the 90s, "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" depicts the story of Anne Frank and the tragedies behind what happened to such an innocent person, along with her youthful romance and how it all devolved in such a short time. A lot of fans of this album have also speculated that there is a second layer of meaning between the World War II references, being that is expresses the kind of tension and tragedy that occurs when you lose some so important in your life, and how the mourning of this loss can only be remedied through appreciating this person afterwards. 17. I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You by Black Kids - Okay, so I'm pretty sure that we can all understand the meaning of the song strictly through the title of this song, negating my opinion before on how you should not judge a song based on its title... well in this case, you can absolutely do that. Not only does it have the best dance tune in the world, but it is also so adorable that the singer's only common connection with the girl he is speaking about is their affinity and adeptness with dancing. Although I definitely have "two left feet" as the singer describes the boyfriend having in this song, I relate to this in terms of music. If there is a person who I really care about, the connection I automatically have is usually in a musical sense, and I am greedy about this relation. We all have something we won't teach someone else's boyfriend/girlfriend if we care about them. 18. 123 by Girlpool - I love this so much. It depicts a relationship where the speaker is asking the partner/SO to tell them everything that is wrong with them in a really sarcastic and aggressive way. It's comical and honest and vulnerable all at once which I have to give a hand for because mixing comedy with painful relationships is something that I always attempt in my writing. The song deals with an interpersonal relationship that is simultaneously “toxic and loving" as described from a contributor on Genius Lyrics, which is a website I often refer to on advice and other commentaries on music I really enjoy. The girl rock power that is disseminated with this track is so strong and empowering, for any gender, so please don't hesitate to sing this when you're feeling angsty about someone. 19. Million Years Ago by Adele - I don't think I ever really talk about my deep appreciation for Adele on here, because I try to branch out from popular artists and focus on more under-appreciated and undiscovered types; but I'm making an exception because although she is one of the most iconic voices of the modern generation, this specific song is so underrated in terms of her best songs. It sounds so french/spanish acoustic ballad inspired and makes me feel like I am transported to a black and white film from the 50s with the sadness and depth that it gives me in such a simple way. It ALSO follows along with my theme of the week, which is looking back in order to look forward, because she sings about the troubles of missing things from the past and dealing with the issues of transforming into a different person. 20. Apocalypse by Cigarettes After Sex - Finally, one of the best mixes of every song I have spoken about previously, is this moody sad love tune by the moodiest, saddest, love bands of the modern generation. There is an unspoken cheesiness of Cigs After Sex songs that for some reason, I am completely enamoured with because I feel like the notion of expressing things in a hyperbolic way has been tossed by the wayside. This group brings back the feeling of needing to tell someone how much they care and not caring about what anyone else thinks, which is important in a world that so often ridicules the ridiculous emotions that love brings about. In particular this song speaks to the feelings of needing to get someone out of a feeling they are trapped in, so to be with them fully, and telling the person they will be there in their lowest and darkest times.
Hope you enjoyed listening with me, see you next week!

Chapter 1 – Awakening
[For this section of the fanfic open this URL for musical ambiance: https://goo.gl/dffjKS ]
“What the Hell?”, said Alice as waking in an oddly odd room. “Where am I? I doubt tea houses in China look like this and, also, I don’t remember Wonder arriving at our destination.” The ceiling is filled with a black and white ceramic, carved arabesques on every single wall with black and gold themes the floor where she stands on looks like a mirror glass in which she can see herself. “I’ve been out on the ocean for a while now” – she thinks. As looking at her own reflection, Alice can see the power of Time himself, now with 25 years of age, her blond short hair still messy from the last time she bathed, lips dried after so much time sailing on Wonder as its captain. “The boys would never allow a girl as their captain” – she reckons as looking at her clothes, a pair of old leather boots, black-and-white striped pants, a simple white shirt and a black waistcoat. “Now, Now, where should I go from here?”, answering Alice, a soft whisper passes just as a breeze “if you don’t know where are you going…any road will get you there…”. “Well, now I know where I am. C’mon Chess, where are you?” just as finishing her sentence, she sees a small open door by the corner of her eye, seeing no other option, Alice crosses the door and find herself in a huge greenhouse. “Curiouser and curiouser”, yes, she sees flowers from the mostly recognizable types, such as roses, sunflowers, petunias, but at the same time, some pretty weird ones, the types where only one place could be possible to have. “Wonderland” – a bittersweet feeling rises through Alice’s chest, its been so long, seven years perhaps? “Wonder if I might find Hatter, Hare and everyone. But what would I say? ‘Sorry for never coming back?’ This sucks!”. Even though she tried so hard to get back once in a while to the Underland, she could never find a portal back, but, how could she do this now? She doesn’t remember falling into the rabbit’s hole or passing through the looking glass this time. Something is definitely off. As running her fingers through the petals of the flowers exposed Alice can hear whispers from across the room. “Hello?” – she shouts – “Anybody there?”. Silence.
[For this section of the fanfic open this URL for musical ambiance: https://goo.gl/WfRWnx ]
“Hello young lady!” – a sharp voice cuts the quietness installed – “Care for a flower? Its Rotunwers season”. A slim tall figure appears, the man seems quite ordinary for Underland parameters, one you may find in the streets of London, but late at night. “Excuse me Sir. Where exactly am I?”, Alice searches for an explanation. “Well, in my greenhouse of course!”, every passing second Alice feels like although looking like Underland, something seems out of place. “I need to go Snud, for Marmoreal, do you know how do I get there?”, Alice asks the strange man, “You can go through the door at the end of the greenhouse and follow the track until you get to the crossroad, there you’ll find better directions, but if you are looking for Mirana and her circus troupe, you’ll find nothing there.” Circus Troupe? That was rude, they are her friends, what gives this man authority to diss them like that. “I’m sorry sir, what do you mean? Circus Troupe? They are amazing friends, I hope you take that back.” Noticing the aggressiveness in her voice, Alice stops before getting out of hand. “Well I’m sorry young lady, didn’t mean to offend you. But they left that place long ago, hopefully for good.” Didn’t he understand? “SIR! Stop talking about my friends like that!” with that, Alice starts to leave the greenhouse at the moment she gets to the door the man shouts from the other side “The name is Akuma, Alice, be more polite next time”. More polite? Is this guy serious? He says bad things about people she cares about and expects her to be polite? Alice closes the door behind with a huge noise, the anger she feels certainly was heard with that. As she starts the track as Akuma said, she realizes: “I never introduced myself, does everybody know me in Wonderland?”

UC 50.6 - Balliol, Ox vs Clare, Cam
Now, I’m no historian, but I am a sensationalist. So keep that in mind when I tell you the story of how John I de Balliol, the founder of Balliol College, is partly responsible for the half price Nandos you can now get as part of the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme. If that ain’t a prime piece of clickbait for y’all Millennial followers of this blog, then I don’t know what is.
Our tale begins at some point before the year 1208 (and I’m not being deliberately vague here. His Wikipedia - because you sure as hell know I was not going to do any research beyond that - says that that’s when he was born. That is, they know he wasn’t born in 1208, or any of the subsequent years - and certainly not after 1268, because that’s when he died. And they can probably rule out the years before like, 1168, given the unlikelihood of his having lived to a hundred years old in the thirteenth century. But apart from that they’d be guessing, which they are not wont to do because they, unlike me, are well-behaved historians) with the birth (as you probably guessed from the previous parenthesis) of John I de Balliol to Cecily de Fontaines and Hugh de Balliol, Lord of Balliol (damn those thirteenth century names hit different).
It continues in 1223, when John, aged at least fifteen but possibly forty three, or twenty seven, married Dervorguilla of Galloway (again, my lord what a name. I could do a whole five hundred words on that name alone, but I’ll spare you, because we’ve got a lot of other things to cover). By the mid-thirteenth century (I’m aware that’s the third time and this is the fourth that I’ve said thirteenth century so far, but there’s really no other way to say it, unless I went for 1200s, which I wouldn’t respect as a choice) his wife had become extremely rich (#GirlBoss) mainly as a result of inheritances from her family (um, generational wealth can still be feminist, still #GirlBoss?) and this big pile of Gold allowed Balliol to play a prominent role in public life (hang on, despite it being her money he was the one to reap the rewards of the money she herself hadn’t even earned? #ItTurnsOutTheConceptOfAGirlBoss WasADifficultOneForThirteenthCenturyElitesToGrasp)
Balliol would become mates with King Henry III, and he got up to loads of hijinks in his role as Special Advisor to the King, including being captured and then escaping at the Battle of Lewes. His Wikipedia for some reason then lists some random people who owed him large amounts of money, but he may or may not have used this money (some 123 marks from Thoma de Musgrave alone. Now how do they know that but they don’t know the year Balliol was born?) when, following a dispute with the Bishop of Durham, he agreed to set up a scholarship for people studying at Oxford. This would later result in the foundation of Balliol College, with Devorguilla (which is a Latinisation of the Gaelic Dearbhfhorghaill by the way. I’ll stop there, don’t worry) making further donations once he had died.
That’s all very well and good, I hear you say, but what on Earth has it got to do with my butterfly chicken? I’m getting there, don’t fret.
So, when John’s parents died, he inherited the family estate (he had quite a bit of generational wealth too, it turns out. Bloody generational wealth). His family estate happened to be one Barnard Castle. Now, Barnard Castle still stands today, although, following the death of King Richard III, who had inherited it through his wife (yass, Queen) it fell into ruin. Fastforward more than five hundred years and Barnard Castle is a popular beauty spot. During the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020 (of which I am sure you are aware), Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, Dominic Cummings, used Barnard Castle as the site for the most notorious eye test in known history (although, who knows whether John Balliol had an even more contentious one at some point prior to 1208).
Having already flouted the lockdown which he himself had imposed to travel across the country from London to Durham when he knew he was in possession of the virus, Cummings then endangered his wife and son by using a half hour cruise to Barnard Castle as a test-run for his vision, to check that he was safe to drive, much in the way that you check if it is safe to jump off of a cliff by jumping off of said cliff.
In order to distract the outraged public from his advisor’s biggest screw-up (yet), the Prime Minister (who, if you can believe it on top of the rest of these revelations went to Balliol himself) embarked on a series of attention-grabbing changes to public policy, which culminiated in the Chancellor announcing that if you want to personally save the economy all you had to do was to go and chow down on some half price poultry.
There you had it, irrefutable causal links proving my initial hypothesis. Although, don’t try and pick it apart, because it will collapse quicker than the Goverment’s grading algorithms.
Tumblr media
Speaking of which, if I had my way there would have been no match for me to review tonight, because having analysed their previous appearances on the show, my algorithm told me that Balliol would win. They won the whole show a few years ago, didn’t they, and Clare have never made it past the quarter-finals with Paxman as host, so it simply wasn’t feasible that they would win (although they did once score 250 points in a loss, which was difficult to account for). Allowing the match to play out normally would have left the possibility that Clare could be over-promoted beyond their ability, so I felt there was no need to play.
However, and fortunately for everyone involved, neither I nor Gavin Williamson was in charge of this episode. Anyway, let’s not bother with the rules; here’s your first starter for ten in Cblliol vs Dlbrf.
First of all, I need to commend both teams on their overall aesthetic. All eight players arrived serving looks in the category of ‘University Challenge Contestant’. Balliol have a contestant called Solenne, which is a name I have only encountered once before, on my good friend (Solène) and Clare have turned up with two mascots, one of which I coudn’t properly make out, and one of which is a freaking green bunny.
Tumblr media
Clare Captain Dunstone, sporting an excellent bubblegum bob, is also studying the first truly excellent subject of the series so far - Cancer Genomics (although its not as cool as when I’d initially thought it to be one, long, indecipherable word like cancegenomics. Who knows what that could be?)
Van Soest, studying Land Economy, which is also cool, but in a boring way, buzzes early on the opener to put the Green Rabbits in the lead. He would take two more impressive buzzes in the opening exchanges as Clare established a 60-35 lead following the first picture round, on trains. Choo Choo.
Balliol started proving my algorithm correct with a couple of starters in succession, and following the music round, in which we got an idea of what a Tchaikovsky diss track would sound like as Paxman read out quotes in which he slagged off his contemporary’s like a YouTube rapper (my favourite being, of Borodin, ‘his technique is so poor he cannot write a bar without assistance. Bars indeed).
The Oxonians relinquished the lead with a couple of interruption penalties, including one that seemed very harsh, although on rewatching Scholefeld did buzz in three words early. Clare couldn’t capitalise on these errors with enough vigour, and Balliol were soon back on top, though it remained incredibly close. Van Soest chipped in with his fourth ten pointer, but Scholefeld made up for her error and put Balliol twenty five clear with seconds remaining.
O’Connor guessed dendrite incorrectly on a question that was effectively asking for either a dendrite or an axon, and McKnight picked up the mistake somewhat surprisedly, but Clare couldn’t manage any of the DH LAwrence bonuses, and remained fifteen adrift at the gong.
Final Score: Balliol, Ox 150 - 135 Clare, Cam
A close game, but quite a low scoring one, though it seemed of a higher quality than the combined 285 suggests. I’ll see you next week for Bristol vs Corpus Christi.
If you enjoyed reading this, though that seems somewhat unlikely given the incoherent ahistory that makes up the introduction, then I have a Patreon here, where I’ll be doing retro reviews of old series if you like the sound of that.

Blog meme: Lysandre, Ganondorf, and. Q, if only because the idea of Q with a Tumblr is amazing.
Lysandre:
their blog url
Has a radical environmentalist blog at green-wood-and-forest-fires and a ventblog at hvm4ns4r3th3pr0bl3m
the kind of posts they reblog
On green-wood, ton of ‘we HAVE to do x!!!’ ecofriendly posts that propose methods that are only accessible to the upper crust, dubious statistics and infographics about how fucked the world is, generally one of those blogs that looks really useful but turns out to be a circlejerk of scaremongering and misinformation if you look too deeply at the sources. Probably a few Onion articles taken seriously, too.
On hvm4ns, basically just a ton of images and anecdotes about the horrible things humanity has done. Animal abuse, gore, death, a general ‘humans are inherently evil’ theme. Not much on human on human mistreatment other than classical/historical stuff, so the Crusades and bedlams instead of institutional racism or lgbt+phobia.
the first person they followed
green-wood followed Sycamore’s blogs first, and occasionally reblogs cute Pokemon pictures from it en masse under the tag ‘#feel better’
hvm4ns browses tags for content and follows back those with similar content
what kind of theme they’d have
green-wood is soft grays and whites with dark orange text, pixel font and three columns. There’s a tag page that’s meticulously updated but most of them only have a few posts in each because everything’s subdivided so much.
hvm4ns is one of those nightmares formatted like tumblr’s ‘search’ feature. there’s an about page and a tags page, but no links to them, so you’ve got to type in the URLs manually. each page has a different theme, always along the lines of high-contrast black/white/red/yellow.
what kind of text posts they make at 2am
most 2am posts are posted to green-wood then deleted later in the morning with a ‘sorry wrong blog’ because he meant to post them to his vent blog. mostly just complaints about the state of the world, the inherent goodness of man, and first world problems.
Ganondorf
their blog url
if it’s not something really smart in Gerudo transliterated into english-equivalent, it’s a pun involving it like ‘voe-betide-you’. it’s supposed to be secret squirrel but anyone who’s had a five minute casual conversation with him will recognise his horse from the pictures.
the kind of posts they reblog
Tons of political activism stuff, especially bashthefash and black bloc resources. Names, addresses, and phone numbers of people who have done something to warrant the torrent of abuse (neonazis, defenders of state/police brutality, rape endorsers, ect). Many rants and callout posts about racism and cultural appropriation, also historical revisionism and international politics. Also lots and lots and LOTS of pictures of animals, especially his horse, doing cute things.
the first person they followed
Unknowingly followed Zelda’s political activism blog. Ends up following Link’s blog for all the cute animal photos through the aforementioned.
what kind of theme they’d have
Fairly plain, large text with a sidebar on the left and the rest of the page devoted to posts. Decorated with desaturated traditional art bordering the edges of the sidebar and each individual post.
what kind of text posts they make at 2am
Self-doubts and reflections, under Read Mores and usually deleted by morning. Expect a lot of “is this even the right thing?” and “i want to do right by my people but it’s never worked before” and “the definition of insanity is repeating the same course of action and expecting a different outcome each time” and just generally vagueposting about the cyclical nature of reincarnation. Because he does not exactly have a good time of it from what we’ve seen.
and finally, the one you’ve all been waiting for: Q!!!
their blog url
Along with his icon, he changes it CONSTANTLY. Usually it’s a pun, like q-can-depend-on-it or why-dont-q or areqkiddingme, but also cycling through some of his favourite quotes from his favourite starfleet members. take-your-domestic-off-my-ship lasted nearly a month.
the kind of posts they reblog
Shitposts, diss tracks, surreal memes, unreality shit, accurate and amusing historical trivia, inaccurate but amusing historical trivia, and complete bullshit are the permanent elements. He’ll generally switch ‘main’ topics depending on who he’s hanging out with at the time, or who he’s trying to butter up, so a lot of moral/ethical discussions and landscapes for Picard, cute animals and relaxing videos and coffee porn for Janeway, ect.
the first person they followed
The first person Q followed was Picard. the second was Janeway. the third was Riker’s supposed-to-be-secret anti-sjw vent blog, literally just for the drama. Fourth was a mostly-humorus riker hateblog, of which he makes a point of always reblogging the ‘Number of femenine-presenting crewmembers Riker has not attempted to hit on’ counter. He tags Picard every time it falls below double digits.
what kind of theme they’d have
Much like his URL, it changes constantly. Every page has an entirely different theme. All of them have autoplay, except the ones you’d expect to have autoplay. Which are they? Only you know. Font size is different everywhere too.
what kind of text posts they make at 2am
Mixture of shitposts (’what if birds could fly? how fucked up would that be’ ‘oh wait’), his own take on deep philosophy (’if your only encounter with higher lifeforms is at their discretion, and you are to them what an ant is to you, and an ant is to you what a cell is to an ant, and a cell is to an ant what an atom is to a cell, and so on and so forth, the most reasonable hypothesis is that the rabbit hole goes up indefinitely as well and those more powerful than the likes of the Continuum have simply not deigned to interact and frankly i’m offended they want to miss out on moi’), and personal moments of self-doubt and reflection (’have i made the right choices in life? have i done the right things?’ ‘ive been trying but have i been trying hard enough to be a good parent?’)
