St. Louis 2024 —an LDPDL fan event

This October, we are celebrating our titular vampire's 147th birthday with a month-long creative challenge. This is the second edition of this event, and you can see the fan creations shared last year in the tag, here ►

How does this event work?

Louis's birthday is October 4th, so we have four broad prompts, and ten prompt quotes. Prompts have no assigned date, and they are meant to be interpreted freely.

What's Apawthecaria about? I've never heard of it but it has a very cute name!

it's a solo journalling RPG!

basically you make a character who becomes a "Poulticepounder" and you go on journeys helping out unwell animals along the way, and foraging for the items needed to make the remedies. eventually you set up clinics and you're basically setting up a tiny animal based NHS

you "roll" using a deck of playing cards to find out who you are treating, and how well you manage to find the ingredients based on your location/the season, and it gives you prompts for things you see on your journey and and can journal about

it is *very* well thought out, and there is tons of cute art in the book. to be very honest I've only helped 1 patient so far, because I've been doing lots of writing for it (I am Not Normally a writer but this is for my own eyes so it is low stakes) and am planning to do lots of little drawings as well

I got it as a birthday present and I'm just really enjoying pretending to exist in a world of tiny animals, trying to think of how I I would help a squirrel sooth her poor teething kits' gums 😭
