31:00~~2/10/24~~

I ran my 2nd 5 k today and managed to run 3 minutes and 26 seconds faster than last time.. l'm not even sure how that is possible.. it must be the hills. i am so proud of myself and again amazed. a tiny tiny voice tells me i could have done better.. maybe... Madison came wiht me for support. I saw people there alone so next time I wont bother her to come with me, unless she wants to of course. I wish i had someone to celebrate with. i'm thankful for Maddy.. I'm thankful for a lot but still wish i had someone. i thought a lot today about how my divorce was/is the single best thing that has ever happened to me. I thought about how i hate hate hate how people say ohh sorry for your divorce. I thought about how it would have been a shame for me to not be the person i am today and how much i have learned and grown and healed. i thought about how i wish i had left sooner .. i dont let myself go too fr down that trail. I left and thats all that matters.. all these great things. Me- i dont know if i will ever be use to this life and these feelings of happiness.. when i laugh, i laugh.. joy. i did not have that or feel that for a lot of years and the last thing i wanted was to really feel anything because none of it was any good and now.. now.. peace. Peace.. and love. Madison is sweet to me. she knows i eat an apple a day and when she shops she has been making sure to buy apples. when we lived in our apartment she would always make sure to leave the outside light on for me.. i hate walking up to a dark house.. ptsd from Chatham. If he turned the automatic light off i knew i was in trouble. sooo.. i guess i'll keep running..

I am not a game player. Its just not my natural state. Pam has issue. Deep seeded trauma from her childhood.. its so obvious to me. the way she talks and her need to be liked and seen as cool and the way she tries to manipulate the people around her. She's smart but not intelligent. So, whatever.. i'm not friends with any of them.. there's one supervisor i kind of like, she was my first supervisor when i started.. and she is weird. None of it matters. I'm working from home tomorrow. I didnt get nearly enough sleep last night. I didnt want to get out of bed this morning. i tried to be nice to my Mom this week, i was being kind and supportive and she can not accept love because she does not love herself . she hates herself and doesnt think she deserves kindness or love and that is not my problem. do i love myself enough to be able to receive love?

I spoke to my manager in regards to the very important meeting she missed. She claims to have wanted to be there but it was thrown together last minute and she was not made aware of the time. Drew was in charge of the timing. Drew is always in charge of the meeting times and he sucks at it. I pretty much said that to her but in a professional way. its taken a year but his scheduling skills infuriate me. people pretty much do what benefits them. Drew has a attitude about people leaving work at 5.. he feels we should all stay later. He is late to work everyday and it benefits him to stay later so misses the rush hour traffic. ive stayed late in the past to accommodate him. I'm not doing that anymore. I get to work early almost every day. I am not staying later than i have to. I feel like he doesnt value other peoples time. he's called me 2 x in 2 days while i wasn't work.. he called me today while i was in walmart talking nonsense.. i got a new rep who is a total idiot. he never should have made it out of training and Drew is acting like he's been on team for a long time and what am i going to do about him. He's been on my team for less than 20 hrs- he was on Drew's team for 90+ days- how and why did this guy become my problem when he has been a problem all along.

I'm going to read the Bhagavad Gita- maybe finish it. I have been sleeping a little too good.. through the night good. the funny thing about work is none of it matters.. we can all be replaced tomorrow and that place would still go on. I shouldn't let it stress me out. i woke up with my period today. silence is beautiful. You're doing a great job April.. keep going! Good night

artems that guy whos like "youre sick!! rest! Do Not Come Back until you recover" and then when hes ill he calls in sick to work and then does all his paperwork in bed at home while he sniffles miserably until he passes out. nobody would even know if celestine didnt notice that he definitely fell asleep in the middle of signing smth LOL. celestine: did you get your sick germs on these important papers? artem: dont be ridiculous. i quarantined them for 24 hrs, theyre perfectly safe. mess of a man im obsessed with him

genuinely GENUINELY.

artem is such a smart and rational person but also i think that rationality takes a backseat sometimes when it comes to taking care of himself. my logic to this is not just because i think it's funny (tho that is a huge factor lmao) but also because like...

i have this general interpretation that artem brings his (ridiculous, meticulous, sometimes unattainable) stubborn perfectionism (which is partly his fault but also partly because of so many people holding him to a certain standard or putting him up on a pedestal) into so many aspects of his life. sickness is somehow an imperfection and the thing with perfectionists is that they try to fix imperfections in stupid ways sometimes, focusing on short term efficiency and productivity, because thats obviouuusly the most important thing here.

artem strikes me as the kind of person who takes all the precautionary measures to keep his body as healthy as it possible can be. good diet, exercise, enough sleep, complete vaccination list, just the whole shebang. but the body is complicated and no matter what you do, you will end up getting sick somehow.

artem: this doesnt make sense. i did everything correctly.

body: doesnt matter, shit happens, go rest

artem: fine. but i refuse to rest. that would be irresponsible (only for me, it's never irresponsible for others, because artem wing has a double standard bug in his noggin that bites him at key moments) and i still technically have the capability to be useful so //does more work

additionally, theres a vulnerability to being sick. i think artem would eventually take care of himself when he realizes that it is the only way he can move forward and be Truly Useful Again, but he would be the type to be resistant to other people helping him. it's his problem, why should he rope more people into it? (because those people, CARE, ARTEM WING! THEY CARE!!!! THEY WANT TO HELP!!!)

deep down though, i figure, it's because of like the fear of not being seen with the lens of perfection. artem doesn't want people to see him like this. he doesnt like seeing himself like this, so why would other people want to see it as well? (AGAIN. BECAUSE THEY CAREEEE!!!!!)

artem wing is a hot mess of "i need to earn everything in my life and the only way to do that is be the paragon of every quality i think is the correct payment for that thing." fascinating stuff but good god, somebody wrap that disaster man in a blanket burrito and do NOT let him out until his fever is gone.

Yasss~!! Aizawa is the greatest I swear!! <3 Here ya go sweetie! I hope you enjoy them! :3 <3 I think I went overboard with these, but I couldn’t stop writing!

He first met you when you came to UA as his teacher’s Aide. He was cold at first, not really giving you the time of day, but you just shrugged it off and continued with your job.

You knew of Aizawa, so you didn’t take his cold demeanor to heart.

His approaches to teaching were a bit out there, but you could see it got through the students and that was all that mattered.

Knew Aizawa was skeptical about you as a hero, you saw the looks he would give your body when he thought you weren’t looking. You weren’t stupid, many people doubted your hero skills because of your weight.

It didn’t bother you anymore, you enjoyed proving them wrong.

You got that chance during the villain invasion at the training center.

Once the students were safe, you used your Bubble quirk to assist Aizawa with the Nomu he was fighting.

Using the water in your system, you can generate bubbles to trap your enemies and emit bubbles that strike their target, stunning them. The strength of your bubbles depend on how much water you’ve had that day.

You were glad you had your regular twelve glasses this morning, because you needed all of the strength to hold this creature.

Seeing the creature grab Aizawa, you generated a huge bubble and sent it hurling toward it and trapping it in there.

“I can hold it for awhile! Make sure the rest of the students are safe!”

Aizawa’s eyes widened at your ability, his eyes shifting to the Nomu banging against the bubble trying to get free.

“Aizawa! The students!” You yelled to the still stunned teacher.

Nodding, he made his way around gathering his students and bringing them to the front and away from the danger, quickly making his way back to you, the Nomu broke free from the bubble and charged at you.

Quickly placing a stepping stone of bubbles, you climbed them and jumped onto the Nomus back before letting out a string of bubbles, blasting the creature in the face.

It was effective for awhile, before you were thrown off its back and into the ground and everything went black.

You slowly opened your eyes, the bright light making you squint as you took in your surroundings, the sound of beeping alerted you of where you most likely were and the IV in your arm was an even bigger indication.

“(Y/N)?” A large had was placed on your shoulder making you look to the side to see none other than Aizawa hovering over you with concern and worry etched in his eyes, a look you’ve only seen a few times.

“H-hey, what happened?”

He bit his lip, eyes shifting away from you and giving a sigh.

“I underestimated you (Y/N), seeing you out there fighting, keeping the students safe and how you control your quick...I’m sorry, I never gave you a chance.”

His words made you smile, the great Eraserhead admitting that he didn’t give you a chance. Placing your hand over his, you gave it a squeeze.

“It’s okay, a lot of people do, I’m just glad you apologized.”

“Can we start over (Y/N)?” The notion made your heart do a flip at his words.

“Of course...I’d love that.”

After that, you and Aizawa got very close. You soon found a job at a hero agency and stopped being his teacher’s aide, but you never stopped being around him.

You’d both grab coffee, grab food, he even started helping you train your quick more since he go so paranoid after the Nomu attack a while back.

Soon, he asked you out, in his aloof sort of way, which you didn’t mind, you found it cute actually.

His favorite thing to do with you is cuddling. You’re so soft and warm and your chubby form was so perfect for that. He’ll wrap his arms around your middle and nuzzle his face into your neck, inhaling your sent as it brings him a sense of calmness.

Enjoys giving you kisses any chance he gets.

His favorite are neck kisses, he’ll nip and bite at the soft flesh and the cute little moans and mewls you let out really rile him up.

Will run his hands up and down your your exposed back in bed, especially after you guys finish making love. He enjoys the feeling of your soft rolls and softness of your curves.

Enjoys spending time with you and just enjoying each others presence.

After a year of dating, he asks you to move in with him which you agree to without hesitation.

Soon after getting a routine together, Eri came into the picture. Of course you accepted the precious girl with open arms.

Aizawa loves to see you two together, he calls you both his special girls.

Your breath caught in your throat as the word ‘mommy’ slipped from Eri’s mouth. The little girl herself stopped and looked down in shame.

Crouching down you opened your arms wide and gestured for Eri to give you a hug, she didn’t think twice before running into your arms.

“It’s okay sweetie, you can call me mommy, I don’t mind...I’ll be here to take care of you.”

Eri was smiling ear to ear and timidly asked something else.

“I-Is it okay if I call Mr. Aizawa daddy?”

Aizawa entered the room, a rare smile on his usually stoic face. Walking up to you with Eri in your arms, he wrapped his arms around both of you, placing kisses on both of your foreheads.

“It’s absolutely okay Eri, (Y/N) and I are your mom and dad now and we love you, remember that.”

Aizawa loves to watch you taking care of Eri, seeing you both laugh and have fun...it warms him to see that.

Makes him think of you two having kids of your own.

He’d love to have kids with you, have a house filled with kids running around and laughter...a house full of love.

You’re all for it, after the years of being with him, you’ve dreamed of starting a family with him and don’t hesitate when he asks.

Soon, every chance you and Aizawa get, any alone time, it’s being spent with the two of you doing it every chance you can to make that baby a reality and of course, you both have fun while doing it.

He’s more passionate when it comes to your love making during this time, always whispering sweet words to you, how beautiful you are now and how beautiful you’ll be when you’re pregnant.

When you do become pregnant, he’s the happiest guy in the world. Always making sure you’re okay and not pushing yourself too much.

Gets super overprotective as the months go along and when you’re put on bed rest, he makes sure you don’t do anything. Always makes sure your pillows are fluffed, you have plenty of fluids and even puts Eri on what he quotes as, ‘mommy watching duty’.

You smile as you lean against the soft pillows, Eri bringing you a glass of water, your fourth one of the morning before giving you a kiss and going to report to her daddy that mommy got her water.

Rubbing your swollen belly, you thought about how much your life has changed and how happy you are here with Eri, Aizawa and now the precious life you both created in your belly. You wouldn’t have it any other way.

24 hr challenge ( angst ) - Mammon x MC

I have stage 4 cancer but none of the brothers know about it even Lord Diavolo. I kept it a secret to my boyfriend, Mammon. I don't want to tell him.. its not like i don't trust him but i think i’ve been a burden to them ever since my first day in Devildom.I know sooner or later i will die but its not my fault that i have this on the first place. There’s no cure for this... yet.I don't want Mammon to be depressed when i die, i want him to continue on being happy when i'm gone.So i had an idea in mind. The problem is i dont know if this will work or make it even worse, but it's worth a try.I went to find Mammon and i saw him sitting on the couch doing something in his D.D.D.I approached him with a fake smile.

Hey babe. I said while waving my hands

Hey babe. He said. He patted the seat next to him.

I seated next to him and hugged him tightly because i wanted to feel his warmth and hug one last time.I pulled away slowly and give him a passionate kiss. He pulled me away slowly.

What’s gotten into ya?. He said and chuckled

Nothing, i just missed you. I said while scratching the back of my neck and awkwardly smiled at him.He smiled back

Mammon tried to ignore me the whole day. I always caught him stealing sad glances at me from time to time, when he saw that i caught him looking at me he would immediately look away. After school instead of walking home with Mammon. I walked with Satan. He spotted me with his younger brother. I saw anger and jealousy filled his eyes.So i walked faster and Satan catches up with me.

Hey MC, Did something happened between you and Mammon because usually you would walk home with him? Satan questioned me

Becau- I suddenly coughed blood. Satan seemed to notice it. He was shocked at first but immediately became worried.

I Immediately panicked and speechless for words. How do i explain this? Should i make up a story? Do i tell him the truth? i'm so doomed..

MC! Tell me the truth ! Why the hell did a blood came out of your mouth?! Did someone hurt you?! Satan shouted. He was furious and in his demon form. I was so scared that i started shaking. Satan noticed this and started calming himself down. He turned back into his normal form and walked towards me. I would take a step back every time he would take a step towards me.

MC, please..just tell me the truth.I won't hurt you. Satan said in a calm and soothing tone. I stop walking backwards and let him walk towards me

MC? Why did you cough blood, please tell me.. i care for you. Satan said and hugged me.

Its nothing, trust me..you will know everything later. I explained

Alright.. Just remember im here for you.. Satan said.He put his hand on my shoulder and smiled that doesn’t reached his eyes.I returned a sad smile to him. After i said that we continue walking to the House of Lamentation.

When Satan open the front door, i was first greeted by Asmo with a sad look on his face

MC! Where have you been?! I was worried sick for you. He said and approached me with a big tight hug. I hugged my best friend back, i pulled away because i feel like i'm going to vomit. I pulled Asmo away and started running to my room

MC?! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?! Asmo shouted

When i entered my room, i immediately lock my door and went into the bathroom and puke blood. I rested my head on the toilet sit and panted. I felt very weak, i felt like i'm already dying. I grabbed tissues to wipe the blood on my face and i flushed the toilet. i went to bed and tears started running on my face. I checked my time only few minutes left..I grabbed a paper and started writing a note on it after i put a thousand grim on it. I was on my way to bed while holding the note with grims on it. I tucked myself and tears started running down to my face. After weeping I passed out.

Mammon’s POV

Only 1 minute left, i walked in front of MC’s door and ready to burst in if 1 minute is done. The moment i started hearing the alarm. I wasted no second to be with my lover again and burst through the door. I was met by the sight of MC sleeping. I smiled seeing her so peaceful. I went towards her and admire her pale face? i ignored the weird feeling i had in my chest. I put my face close to her and give her lips a peck. I decided to wake her up. So i shaked her lightly but she didnt wake up?. I shaked her again and again but nothing happens. I started to panic. Tears started streaming down my face and i keep shaking her but she is still asleep. I saw a note shes holding and checked it out. I opened it and saw note with many grims. Then i read the note. My heart breaked. Why didn't she tell me?

A/N- this is based off the song "cry for love" by harry hudson.

Warnings- implied sex, cursing

no relationship. just sex. if we were at my place, he had to be gone by morning. if i was at his place, i had to be gone by morning.

thats how it had been almost every night for the past three months, and it was working fine.

it was 11:24. harry was 24 minutes late, and he hadn't answered your texts.

"you're late. why?" you say when he walks in, and closes the door.

"sorry. the guys wanted to talk." jonah says.

"about what? everything okay?" you ask.

"why do you care? we're not friends, y/n.v he says, chuckling.

"my bad." you say sarcastically, and start walking to the bathroom.

"y/n, wait. im sorry. its just.. you know? the deal." he says, grabbing your arm. fuck the deal you think to yourself. cliche, right? you're falling for your fuck-buddy. you turn around, and he pins you against the wall. he starts kissing your lips, and down to your neck. "what're ya thinkin about?" he says, sucking on your neck. you get a littlw confused, because you guys didn't usually talk.

"nothing." you say, lying. he pulls his head back, and looks at you.

"you're so beautiful." he says. what the hell is going on, you think to yourself. he never compliments you, why start now?

(okay so ion do smut, so pretend they already did it lmao)

you lay back on your bed, and he lays there with you. he had tells you his alarm is set for 5:00 AM to be gone, so you guys go to sleep, on different sides of the bed.

6 hrs later

you wake up at 6:30, and reach for your phone, but something stops you from stretching too far. no. he broke the deal. you turn your head to see none other than jonah. confused, you pry him off of you, and go take a shower. when you get back, jonah was gone, and left nothing but a note saying, "at the studio with the boys. ill see you tonight ;)" why the note? you wonder. what has gotten into him? you start doing your makeup and call your bestfriend, sabrina, on facetime.

"whats up?" she says. you grab the note and put it up to the camera.

"what the hell is this?!" you say.

"oh shit!" she says, laughing. "he's falling for you. do you like him?"

"that is NOT part of the deal!" you say, applying your mascara.

"why don't you go ask him?" sabrina suggests.

"never. the guys dont like me."

"what makes you think that?" she asks.

"when he told the guys about me and our deal, they told him it wasn't a good idea and apparently it's slutty." i inform her.

"dipshits. it's their loss. you're going to that studio, whether you like it or not."

2 hours later

you walk up the steps of their studio, and knock on the door. to your surprise, their music producer opened the door.

"where are the boys?" you say, in a rush.

"they went to the skate park to film for trust fund baby" he says. "y/n what are you doing?" he says with the do i even want to know tone of voice.

"thank you!" you say, not answering the question, and jumping in your car. on the way to the park, you start thinking. i love him, you think to yourself. you get overwhelmed and anxious about what's fixing to happen, and you start crying. you dry your tears, and get out of the car. you walk over there, and all the boys, camera crew, etc. are walking out.

"daniel! where's jonah?" you ask, your voice still shaky.

"he's grabbing his skateboard?" he says, confused. you smile at him, and quickly walk in the park. you see a comepletely empty park, exept for jonah, grabbing his skateboard, and facing the other way.

"why did you stay?" you yell through the wind, tears begining to fall from your eyes. he stands back up, but doesnt turn to you. he stays looking away.

"my alarm didnt go off." he says, lying.

"yes it did. i heard you stop it." you say bluffing, knowing damn well you were sound asleep.

"y/n." he says, turning around to face you. "you need to go."

"why are you mad at me?" you say, as he quickly walks towards you.

"im not mad. im scared, okay? is that what you wanted to hear?" he says, clenching his jaw.

"why are you scared?" you ask, now that he's standing practically ontop of you.

"i love you, alright? i always have." he says, relieved to get that off his chest. "i was afraid if i told you, you would get rid of the deal, and not want to see me anymore." he admits.

"fuck the deal." you say smiling and leaning into to kiss him.

hello hello i have missed u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was checking my notifs like every 3 hrs i had no idea my inbox was closed tumblr was being fucking Peak Homophobic to me personally. this was a hatecrime and i WILL be suing /s anyway ive been ok!!! had some rough stuff happen the past couple of days but im doing better now. go thru a major life event cry sing the my neighbor totoro ending theme for 24 hrs straight get it over w thats what i do. ໒( •́ ∧ •̀ )७ but yes im ok now genuinely despite all my Jokes hmm RATS i love rats oh fuck...... precious little bbys i almost made a bad decision the other day when i saw a craigslist ad for free bby rats........... anyway rats r so fuckin cute and they are SO smart u can teach them lil rat tricks and they have lil hands DID U KNOW when a rat is v v content they boggle which is when they grind their back teeth together and it actually pulls on muscles behind their eyes that make their eyes bug out (hence: boggling) and its VERY startling to see at first but then u realize they r just very happy and its precious. to ME the rat emojis usually dont look like rats depending on device (when i looked at this ask on an adroid phone those both looked like mice but now on my computer the grey one looks like a rat the white one looks like a mouse). in general tho i love emojis and i love a good kaomoji as u have seen. id ad a bunch of heart and flower emojis here but im on my computer so u will have to imagine it. big big love from 9:54 pm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sleep well if ur heading to sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A/N: ive been on hiatus for a long ass time so any feedback is more than welcome!!!! also i am fully aware that i used this gift for my last post but its hot and i dont care

It had been a little over a month since Auston left. No… that’s not quite right. It had been a little over a month since Auston left Toronto. It had been just barely under a month since you had left Auston.

You weren’t entirely sure who the trade surprised more, but you did know for a fact that it had had a far greater effect on you than it had on Auston.

He had remained optimistic in the beginning. After all, Buffalo is barely a 2-hour drive on a bad day. On a good day, he could probably make it in an hour and a half. But the two of you had quickly reached the conclusion that either of you driving 4+ hours a day wasn’t practical, and it wasn’t fair to whoever drew the short end of the stick, pun intended. You knew he would never ask you to move for him, hell even moving in together had been a stretch for you, but you also knew that there was an unspoken expectation that eventually the both of you would relocate closer to the arena.

Before he had even reached the border, you had managed to convince yourself that this short distance relationship would cripple your relationship before you could even begin filling out the US immigration forms to move with him, let alone actually convince yourself to do it. So you backed off. You knew that trying to exhaust what was left of the relationship would only end up destroying you the both of you more than was necessary, so you let go. You knew it wouldn’t take him long to pick up on the fact that you were becoming distant, taking longer to respond to texts, barely calling him back and conveniently timing your responses with the specific intention of him not being able to pick up. You may have been stupid, but you sure as hell weren’t subtle. You knew that as long you were the bad guy in the scenario, it wouldn’t take him nearly as long to get over you, and as long as you remained in control of the situation, you knew that you’d come out of the tail end of things perfectly fine.

And you were. You were absolutely, positively fine. But that was all you were. You weren’t good or great or doing well, you were just… fine. You were off-kilter, sure, but you were surviving, and that was honestly all you had come to ask of yourself. You were sure that the other shoe would drop soon enough, you had ridden the high and now you were at the plateau, but the comedown seemed to always be lurking around the corner.

One too many sleepless nights in a row had come to significantly impact your sleeping schedule. It had gotten to the point where your boss had come to expect your work day to end at 5 am instead of 5 pm. It was nice, though. To see the city when it felt like no one else could. To have your whole day to yourself, even though it was technically night. Everything was much quieter, and there were moments where it felt like you might be the only person in the entire city to be awake, and you wouldn’t have it any other way. You rarely interacted with anyone, you didn’t even wake up until hours after the last of your coworkers had left the building, and every errand you had to run could be completed via the self-checkout of the 24 hr supermarket a few blocks away from your apartment building. You weren’t lonely by any means, you just so happened to be alone.

Except on game nights. You were never alone on game nights. Luckily, there weren’t very many Toronto residents that enjoyed watching one of their franchise players play in a different teams jersey, but you still couldn’t help but punish yourself by watching his games whenever they were on at the sports bar you frequented. You told yourself that as long as someone else put the game on, and as long as you left with someone new before the game was over, then it wasn’t nearly as pathetic as it seemed.

An issue arose the first time Toronto played the Sabres. You hadn’t checked the schedule, you just knew that there was a game. You also knew that if you were ever alone when a game was on you would curl up with far too much ice cream and a borderline dangerous amount of rum, neither of which were ideal. Immediately upon entering the bar, you knew that it was far too crowded for there to not be a Leafs game on, it was nowhere near baseball season, and the sea of blue jerseys couldn’t be for any other team. An involuntary wince consumed your face as Auston’s name reached your ears, it seemed like every congregation of fans in the entire establishment were talking about him, and a cursory glance at the nearest screen confirmed your fears.

The bad news was that if you stayed, you would have to watch Auston play, which was bound to be painful for any Leafs fan, but this one would hurt you just a little more than all the others— the knowledge that he was just across the city weighed heavily on your shoulders as you pushed through the crowd to find an empty stool somewhere. The worse news was that there was no way in hell a single guy in here would be willing to leave before the game was over, so you’d either have to watch all of it and then fuck the feelings away, or go home and watch all of it and probably end up crying for a majority of the third period. The former seemed like a more viable option at the time.

Now, though? You wished you had just gone home. Because it turns out you were wrong, there was a dude at the bar who was willing to leave before the end, as it would turn out, he was ready to leave before the second period was halfway through. That should have been your first red flag.

In your defense, you had a lot of other shit going on, and your brain was far too preoccupied coping with the stress that the game was bringing to consider the fact that the nice guy who had been paying for your drinks might not turn out to be that nice after all.

On the cab ride back to your apartment, you found out that his name was Sam and he was a lifelong Leafs fan. The two of you bonded over having grown up around hockey without actually playing it, and you even shared a cigarette at the entrance of your building’s lobby. It wasn’t until the two of you stepped into your living room that things took a turn for the worse.

The framed and signed Matthews jersey on the mantle had been more of a joke than anything else, all of your friends thought it was funny while the two of you were together, and you hadn’t had anyone over since the breakup, so you hadn’t found a reason to convince yourself to take it down. The look of disgust on Sam’s face as soon as he laid eyes on it would have been a fairly convincing reason if you actually gave a shit what he thought about you.

“That’s borderline sacrilege,” he commented, gesturing towards the display. You shot him an incredulous look, waiting for him to give any indication that he was making a joke.

“What?” You questioned, not really confused, just wanting to clarify if he was saying. What you thought he was saying.

“You can’t seriously call yourself a leafs fan and still support that guy! He’s a traitor,” He asserted. His over passionate gesturing indicated that he was genuinely this invested in the topic, which should have been your second red flag.

“I mean c’mon, (Y/N),” He continued. “You’re not stupid, are you?”

You couldn’t help but scoff at how pretentious and condescending he was being, without seeming to realize that he was acting like an absolute prick.

“I can assure you, Samuel,” You drawled sarcastically. “I am anything but stupid, but you have got to be absolutely moronic if you genuinely believe that I’m going to let you fuck me after speaking to me like I'm a goddamn child. Your kinks are your business but that's not really my style,” you sneered as you moved towards the doorway in order to invite him to throw himself out so you didn’t have to bother touching him any more than you already had.

“Now why don’t you get the fuck out of my house, dick head,” You spoke as your lip curled and your brow quirked, gesturing through the doorway to drive the point through his thick skull.

“Gladly,” He scoffed, slamming his shoulder into yours as he stepped past you. “Not like I’d want to fuck a whore like you anyways!” He shouted over his should as he started towards the stairs.

“Open your mouth that wide again and I’m gonna have to ask you to chortle my cock, Samuel” You responded, giving a middle finger to his back for your own satisfaction. You had never been one to censor your insults, and over the years they had become more and more lewd. This, of course, had never really presented itself as a problem until you caught the eye of your neighbor as you turned to storm back inside of your apartment. You couldn’t help but wince apologetically at the old woman, giving her a repentant head nod as you shuffled back inside.

You let your back hit the inside of the door, sliding roughly down until your tailbone hit the hardwood floor beneath your feet. Of course, the first substantial interaction you had in over a month would turn out to be a spectacular disaster. And of course, it was because of Auston. Realistically, you knew it wasn’t his fault, you just really really needed someone else to blame right now. You carded your fingers through your scalp roughly, and let out an elongated groan in the hopes that it would satisfy the overwhelming urge that you had had to scream at the top of your lungs for the past month or so.

As you stared at your own intertwined fingers in an attempt to calm yourself down, you couldn’t help but notice that your fingers were shaking. This wasn’t a recent development by any means, but this was the first time that you had noticed it being this aggressive. It usually only happened when you had coffee, which was why you had abstained from it for a majority of your life. As you looked back on what your routine had become, you realized that through all the late nights and later mornings, you had been popping caffeine pills and ordering espressos far more than the ‘one-time thing’ you told yourself it was. The realization that your life had done a complete 180 in the span of 5 weeks began to weigh on you, and it seemed like your mind was consumed entirely by flurries of memories of bad habits you had fallen back into and the lifeless moments you had spent floundering, convincing yourself that you were fine on your own, despite the fact that that was anything but the truth.

It didn’t take very long to find his contact picture in your recent messages. You hadn’t had much of a reason to talk to that many people lately. It took longer to open up the message thread, trying to prepare yourself to view the unbearably awkward finality of your most recent messages to each other. The preview underneath his name only served as a painful reminder that the last time he had texted you was to say that he loved you. And you hadn’t said it back.

You weren’t sure if he was going to respond, hell you went sure he was even going to read it. For all you knew it was entirely within the realm of possibility that he had blocked you a while ago. You knew exactly what to say, surprisingly, that wasn’t the hard part. Of the few letters that you typed, the closer you got to reaching out to him again seemed to calm you down more and more. By the time you tacked on the question mark at the end, your fingers had stopped trembling for there first time in what you could assume had been at least a couple of weeks. You let your phone drop to the floor as soon as you hit send, either he would be here within the hour or his response wouldn’t be worth reading. Those were the only options on the table. Either he was going to come and the two of you were going to get to be okay for a little while, or it truly was the end. If that was the case then you really didn’t want to see what he had to say. You heard your phone vibrate from where it laid just a couple feet away, and as much as the desire consumed you, you couldn’t bring yourself to move to see what it said. So you sat there, and waited to see if you would be able to hear those oh so familiar footsteps ascending your staircase again, responding to your oh so familiar request.
