everybody (including me) thinks caleb cries and throws up when he sees you naked for the first time, but what if he doesn’t?
what if it’s closer to the feeling of all being right in the world? validation, vindication, satisfaction, assurance. you were meant to bare yourself to him, he was meant to see you. it’s just the natural order of things.
it’s proprietary, almost, the way he looks at you. like the moment is expected. like he’s the only one who should.
it’s not that he’s dismissive or entitled toward your body—he’s still reverent and appreciative, subtle awe coursing through his veins.
but it’s not awe that you’re his. he knows you’re his. it’s awe that you’re you. that anyone on this godforsaken planet could look like you, act like you, be like you. be as perfect as you are. be as perfect for him as you are.
so when caleb saunters up to you, placing a hand on your bare waist like it belongs there—that’s exactly what he’s thinking. because it does.

I am riddled with ailments, but I stay silly!
#ask#non mdzs#My health journey has been: Hernia -> acid reflux -> Vocal pain due to aforementioned reflux -> chest infection.#I'm terrified to know what's about to hit me next. Please let it be something kind. PLEASE.#The consequence of living with linguists is that you'll wake up with a wacked up voice -#suddenly you're sitting you down in front of a program called something like Praat having your shimmer and jitter levels calibrated.#They gave me a GRBAS of 33012. I have a fun thing called a pitch break where a whole octave just does not exist.#My vocal pain was bad enough I ended up seeing a speech pathologist and that whole experience was super neat!#I learnt a lot about voice - to be honest I might make a little comic on it after some more research. Fascinating stuff.#For example; your mental perception of our voice modulates the muscles of the vocal folds and larynx.#meaning that when you do have changes (inflammation = more mass = lower frequency)#your brain automatically attempts to correct it to what it 'should sound like'. Leading to a lot more vocal strain and damage!#And it gets really interesting for trans voice care as well - because the mental perception of one's voice isn't based on an existing sampl#So a good chunk of trans voice training is also done with the idea of finding one's voice and retraining the brain to accept it. Neat!#Parkinsonial Voice also has this perception to musculature link! The perception is that they are talking at a loud/normal volume#but the actual voice is quite breathy and weak. So vocal training works on practicing putting more effort into the voice#and retraining the brain to accept the 'loud' voice as 'normal'.#Isn't the human body fascinating?#Anyhow; Now I have vocal exercises and strategies to reduce strain and promote healing.#Which is a lot better than my previous strategy of yelling AAAH in my car until my 'voice smoothed out'.#You can imagine the horror on the speech path's face. I am an informed creature now.#I'm my own little lab rat now. I love learning and researching. Welcome to my tag lab. Class is dismissed.#I'll be back later with a few more answered asks </3 despite everything I'm still going to work and I need the extra sleep.#Thank you for the well wishes! And if you read all of that info dump; thank you for that as well!

Okay, but in retrospective, that moment where All Might reads a script on his first class that's used for comedic purposes and his kinda clumsy personality actually says good things of him as a teacher:
1. He planned and scheduled the class: all teachers should do that. You can't just show up without a planned class to, well, classes. You have to plan the topic, how to teach it, strategies, activities an all that. I know that because I'm studying to be a teacher and we get told that at least once in every teaching-related subject.
2. He knew he could have trouble remembering the explanation for the dynamic from the top of his head and brought a script in case he needed it: he's aware of his own shortcomings and not only not so prideful as to be ashamed of them, but will also search ways to compensate them. This is just common sense but no one wants a teacher who puts their pride over acknowledging their flaws/limits. That's how teachers who think they're always right are.
3. His plan wasn't that bad and could have been more useful if there was more reflection afterwards or theory to back up the experience: There are learning theories that are based on having the students experience things and then reflect on what they just went through. The theory side was weak but he did asked the students their own thoughts on the matches. He should have inquired more and ask to other students too (you know, not only have Momo answer everything). The exercise itself could have worked well as a diagnostic activity. Also, estimulating the students to think is a good thing.
Now, on his fails:
1. He should have set better limits at the start of the activity. I don't remember if he didn't, but if he did, he should have put his foot down on not letting the very dangerous lethal attack go on. Not just tell Bakugou not to use it, but also stop the activity and, well, physically stop him. Not "but Izuku could learn from this". He is his highschool teacher, the physical well-being should be prioritized about a dubioud dangerous "learning" opportunity. Not "but he is just a teacher. Stopping a student with a bomb isn't his job". It's a fictional world with heroes and he is a hero. He is the hero. He could and he should. "But he can't use violence against his students, right?" No, he can't. But he could just, you know, pull Bakugou from the collar take off his guantlet, for example.
2. Again, a better reflection/theory afterwards. I mean, yeah, time limit, but he could have just told them to come up with three things well done and badly done from the overall matches for the next class. Would have make them to think more on strategies and procedures for future activities/hero work.
3. He should have informed that one of his students tried to kill another. Not if he dodges, my ass. That's like, a crime. That's at least assault, sir. They have permission to spare with quirks, not to try to kill or maim each other.
That's about it, I think? I haven't watched BNHA in ages but he's not as bad of a teacher as I remembered. He's just a rookie teacher who should learn to give better advice.
In general, tho, UA is just shady as hell. I mean, if a teacher had told me that they're allowed to do whatever they want, I would walk off the class and switch schools immediately.
And why does Aizawa sleep in class? I don't care if there's no actual class scheduled, you are the only adult supervision. You can't just sleep there. I don't care if you're overworked because you have two jobs, jobs that require supervising other people's well-being are not the kind that you can take without at least some commitment. You wouldn't let a medic sleep through a surgery, right? Then you shouldn't let a teacher come ready to sleep while he should be seeing a group of, may I remember you, superpowered teenagers. I don't care if it's a "logical ruse", it's still rude and a waste of their money and time.
And don't get me started with the "potential" bullshit. You know how much of bullshit that is? I mean, if your math teacher just went and tell you to don't keep coming to their class at the start of the year because he can't teach you because "you don't have potential" for maths, wouldn't you think they're full of crap? First, a teacher is not a psychic, they can't know the extent of your capacities on the first day of classes. Second, a teacher's job is not to discard those who doesn't fit their own standards, it's to try to motivate the students to learn and try to pass the knowledge and skills for that. Third, Aizawa is not the head authority on pro-hero-ing nor has he the right to set the standards for what the profession recquires. Fourth, "potential" is too abstract and not a valid reason to expell or grade someone. He's like that one literature or art teacher who fails students because they don't agree or don't like their work when they should be passing or failing them based on whether or not they learned the skills and theory needed.
Lastly, saying you fail/expell a student because they don't have potential is such an easy excuse to be lazy and don't try to teach them or admit you failed to teach them.
Anyways, this post was not about him or UA being shady af. It was about All Might being actually not such a bad teacher as people think, just an inexperienced rookie teacher.
...At least on the first few seasons, I stopped reading the manga after Eri's rescue arc. I think the last I read was when Izuku fought Gentle and The Brava? I didn't like where it was going so I dropped it.

#26.2 Survival test
Akraptor stepped into the testing room. He thought he was lucky to be the second to last one to enter, but it seemed like he was mistaken.
"Too many rivals in here," he muttered after a quick scan of the room. Every eye was on him, naturally. "Why are you so tense? We just have to survive for 30 minutes. It doesn't matter how many of us are left, right?"
Some people nodded, some barely reacted. It was just as he had expected. Still…"But don't you think there are too many here?"
"What?" The blondie at the center was the first to give a verbal response. Was he the one that was responsible for the truce? One way to find out.
"We'll all be rivals on the next test, and it's not good to have so many survivors."
"T-that's true, but…"
"So why don't we vote? Five people with the most votes get out of this room. How's that? Sounds fair?"
No one answered. It was probably better not to give them too much time to think.
Akraptor glanced over to the only kid in the room, one that stuck out like a sore thumb. How someone could let a child as young as her take this test was beyond him. "Then I'll vote for this kid."
The glasses girl beside her looked surprised and then angry. "You!! Why do you get to decide?!"
"Then, should we fight and see who survives?" He shrugged. He was quite confident in his abilities. Even if he lost, then it just meant that he needed to try harder. "I think this is much better than drawing blood. Isn't it?"
Again, he was met with silence. Everyone was looking warily between him and the blondie.
"Now, next please."
Blondie rose to his feet. "Foil head. One for you."
Akraptor wouldn't say he was surprised, with how he caused a ruckus in the quiet room that had many seemingly promising regulars.
"I should vote for someone who looks strong like you. What's the benefit I get by dropping that little girl? Don't be a lame leader, moron."
Akraptor sighed. So this blondie only cared about himself. "Ridiculous." He turned to everyone else to keep the vote going, "So, what do you think?"
"I–" The big guy with a wing started– "vote for each of you."
He already looked intimidating, even when sitting down. And Akraptor couldn't help his grin, fascinated by how that teddy bear also declared the whole room his enemy. He must've also been confident in his power.
"Someone once told me that you better make some allies while the others are busy making enemies." The guy in all black beside the blondie spoke. He was looking at him like he was watching an entertainment show. "So I'm not voting for anyone."
Ah, so it was likely that this guy was the one that kept everyone from fighting.
There were only two minutes left before the last participant came. He was just trying to turn people against each other, but it seemed that his plan had failed miserably.
At this rate, he'd have to walk out with the kid. But he couldn't just take back what he said, could he?
Akraptor scratched his head. "Alright, anyone else?"
A bald tanned muscular guy at the corner laughed, a little hysterical. "How could you not notice who is the biggest threat in this room?" He walked up to him and whispered, "You should've just stayed quiet, foil head."
This guy was probably referring to the teddy bear. Was he that strong, though? He could use this chance to provoke the baldie. "Hah. What a coward."
"What did you say?!" The baldie sneered and raised his axe.
Akraptor grinned. Too easy. He took out and pointed his umbrella at him. "So you rather fight than vote? Alright."
Baldie swung his axe and Akraptor effortlessly dodged. This guy was indeed too easy, he needed to up the game.
Just in time, the elevator door opened and the last person stepped out into the room. "Damn!! Why are there so many of you left!!"
Akraptor pointed his umbrella and shot a shinsu beam, deliberately missing the baldie and instead managed to injure the unsuspecting new guy. Naturally, he joined in the fight and was quickly disqualified.
Akraptor had also tried to deliberately miss another aim at the baldie to hit and disqualify the other participants in the room. He avoided the area where the kid and glasses were sitting. Though unfortunately they were also bundled up quite close to the blondie, teddy bear, and the guy in black.
Akraptor weighed his options, and decided he'd take the risk. Carefully aiming for the blondie who was the farthest from the girls.
The blondie was already covering his head with his arms, and teddy bear's wing changed shape into a shield as he got in front of the girls.
However, Akraptor was shocked when the beam was split as it hit a transparent wall that protected those people that gathered together.
Akraptor felt the shinsu in his body suddenly flow in an odd way, and belatedly realized that he could no longer move. Everyone had stopped fighting as well, looking as if they were frozen in time.
"Now, now. I think you have crossed the line." The guy in black rose from his seat, revealing an eye-catching pattern on his belt. His tunic fluttered as he walked toward him, steps steady and confident.
Akraptor could feel his body screaming to get away from him. But as their distance got smaller, the greater he felt dread looming over him.
Tumblr media
The guy in black was undeniably pretty from up close, but his aura was terrifying. So this was the person that baldie referred to. It looked like he had awakened the sleeping dragon.
Shit.
Before the guy in black could do anything to him, a loud beep echoed through the room.
Akraptor wouldn't be able to describe how relieved he was to hear it.
"Time's up!! The first test is over!! Cease any fighting, or it will result in disqualification." The administrator announced at the same time the doors opened. "Survivors, please get in the elevator."

In light of the TGWDLM remount I’m tempted to make a compilation of my favorite parts of various student and community theater productions that have been uploaded onto YouTube…
#tgwdlm#the guy who didn't like musicals#starkid#I admit I have such a love hate relationship with other productions 😭#cuz I love seeing other people’s interpretations of the show and it’s my dream to direct it one day#but I also feel so nit picky about them like#‘if you end that statement with a question it confuses the meaning of the words’ or#‘I can tell they’re just copying the original actor with no understanding as to why they originally did/said those things in that way’#or ‘that characters entrance was to early/late’#or ‘replacing that swear word with ‘butthole’ makes zero sense’#…I have far too many criticisms of other productions yet I can’t stop watching them#cuz I genuinely do love seeing how others act out the characters and choreograph and stage it#so it’ll be good exercise for me to appreciate them better#the most recent one I watched (an hour ago) finally had a great Paul and that makes me so happy#I could rant for at least 20 minutes on why Paul is kind of a hard character to cast#but this guy not only nailed it - he made the character his own and <333!!!#I also wanna put a ‘favorite actor/s from each performance’ section and/or a ‘dream fan production casting’#where for every character id pick someone from the various productions to play them#cuz like I said the Paul in this one is really good. but the Ted in another one I watched a few months back was amazing#and the Mr Davidson of another show was hilarious#etc etc#anyway I’ve been thinking about doing this for months and the remount might be the thing to fully motivate me to do it

ask and you shall receive @awooooooooooo! i love perfume and i love ateez so why not write a mini essay on ateez + perfume. i've only talked about yunho + órpheon in this post because it's already stupidly long and this is an insanely niche topic as is, but if anyone likes ateez perfume analysis, you’re in luck, because i WILL write about san and tam dao. eventually.
(ftr, a perfume’s top notes are the initial scents you smell on application, and are usually the lightest or sharpest scents used (e.g. citrus or super powdery/light florals); middle notes are the scents that appear once the top note scents have faded, and can be considered the central core or heart of the perfume - they’re usually fuller and smoother than top notes (think cinnamon/other spices, or fuller floral scents like jasmine); and the base notes form the foundational structure of the perfume, underpinning the top and middle notes and generally being the most long-lived scents that linger after application (usually woody scents, or musks). accords are blends of notes that form the character profile of a perfume (e.g. woody or floral).)
órpheon, the perfume i've seen re: yunho a couple of times now, has a scent profile as follows (according to fragrantica dot com anyway, since i unfortunately don't have a bottle on hand):
top note - juniper berries
middle note - jasmine
base notes - cedar, tonka bean, powdery notes
accords - powdery, woody, aromatic, fresh spicy, white floral
órpheon’s description states that it’s intended to be used by anyone rather than being specifically masculine or feminine, and this is shown through the mix of scents used - the powdery base notes are more traditionally found in feminine fragrances, and white floral accords are also probably more associated with femininity, but jasmine is quite a powerful scent as far as florals go, and the spicy top note and soft woody base notes also push back towards a more unisex or even borderline masculine scent.
in my opinion, regardless of who wears it, this is a scent profile that immediately states power. there’s a strong, robust sensuality that runs through the entire perfume, and a richness that calls for a certain kind of presence - it evokes a quiet but dominating confidence without being aggressive, as the spicy top note gives way to smooth middle and base notes that paint an image of refinement and class.
juniper berry creates a tangy, sharp top note. generally, in feminine perfumes, a top note will be something light and fresh while still being quite soft, like rose or many something like lemon for a bit of extra pep, but juniper berry is peppery, spicy, and particularly crisp. imo it’s refreshing, and that freshness lends to a lot of people likening it to gin or pine, but it’s apparently particularly notable in orphéon and can be almost borderline-overwhelming for some people. it’s got a bite that a lot of top notes don’t tend to have - it’s not a small scent, and i think you need a lot of presence to wear a perfume with a heavy juniper top note. it’s by no means a flimsy scent.
generally, if your top note is as solid as orphéon’s, you’re going to need strong middle/base notes. jasmine is a floral scent, but imo it can’t be compared to other floral scents like lavender or rose because it’s very full-bodied and rich. once the initial punch of juniper berry fades, jasmine provides a smooth aftertaste. it’s sweet, but not like traditional light sugary scents - it’s opulent and fruity, more akin to honey. jasmine usually adds strength to lighter-smelling perfumes to give them a longer-lasting core because it’s a powerful scent on its own, but it’s not too heavy and projects elegance and sophistication. jasmine’s also quite musky as far as a floral scent goes, which adds a bit of animalistic masculinity without being traditionally overtly masculine. i’m not sure how strong the jasmine is in órpheon specifically, but in higher amounts, it can be quite a divisive scent - like juniper berries, it can be too much for some people because of the power it carries.
cedar and tonka bean form the core of the woody accord that mostly characterises this perfume. like jasmine, tonka bean is sweet, but it’s another full-bodied sweet scent rather than something light and airy. it’s also more on the masculine end of unisex imo. it’s sweet in the way cherry and almond cake is sweet, rather than in the way strawberry-flavoured sweets are sweet. tonka bean is also what the perfume relies on to add complexity to its profile, because tonka bean is a lot of things at once - sweet, but also spicy, and herby/green, and nutty. it’s a warm and exotic scent, tends to bring other scents together well due to its smoothness, and lends to the sensuality of órpheon’s scent profile as a whole.
i miiiiiight be biased since cedar is one of my favourite notes, but that's because it’s soft without being insignificant, and is versatile enough to fit anywhere in a fragrance - top, middle, or base note. to me, it’s a robust, androgynous, sexy scent, and provides depth and sensuality to pretty much any perfume it’s added to. cedar’s also pretty dry-smelling and earthy, which works well when braced against sweeter scents like jasmine and tonka bean that tend to stick in the mouth. i usually like perfumes that contain cedar as a middle or base note and then an airy floral top note like rose, because the cedar balances out the floral accord, but combined with the above notes, it’s a strong foundation for a strong scent. the powdery notes in the base are likely there purely to provide some breathing space and lightness to what’s otherwise an incredibly intense, thick, full-bodied perfume.
tl;dr órpheon's scent profile is delightfully androgynous and incredibly strength, rich, and sensual without feeling hyper-aggressive. it can probably be overpowering for a lot of people, but i think if you have the confidence and aura to wear it, it adds to a person's sophisticated, elegant power. which, you know, i think is pretty fitting for yunho :P

i know travis guiding them was 100% travis and not in character as chet bc he didn’t even have the voice going, but i also would like to imagine that chet did exactly that.
i like it generally bc he has moments like that where he drops the chaos when things get serious (i’ll never forget watching him and orym talk about will and realizing that oh god, under all those layers of whatever the fuck is going on with him, he cares so much).
but i really like it in this specific situation too bc i’m pretty sure imogen was the one to step up after his confession and immediately say they weren’t going to leave him, and i can totally see him avoiding the conversation in the moment but then stepping up to guide her and taking it really seriously out of appreciation.
