Aisha: The Thesis

I don’t know if I have to keep saying this but SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE FUCKING REWRITE UP TIL THE CURRENT CHAPTER (S4 CH 14)

First Things First

The very first words on Aisha’s character sheet are: Sporty, socially awkward dancer

I feel like it’s a bit difficult to explain my thought process when it comes to Aisha. I think most of us can agree she was def the most interesting and most fleshed out in the OG, from her badass intro to her backstory and storyline in s2, she was a young girl who ran from home to avoid being isolated and was loyal to the point of risking her life to save her pixie friends.

Something that was very important to me was showcasing Aisha as being socially awkward and having a hard time believing people like her due to her trauma, years of isolation and never really having friends her own age. Her main relations up til this point have been with Nabu (who she stopped seeing when she was about eight and never really knew), Anne (who she fell for but abruptly stopped seeing when she was twelve) and the pixies (who aren’t human and therefore can’t really give Aisha the experience of having very relatable friends)

Due to all this, an important focus for me in s2 was showing Aisha as feeling like an outsider, she’s not only new to an already very clearly established group who already fought a war together, but she doesn’t really know how to become part of the group and isn’t always sure whether she’s intruding or not.

I tried to show how her integration to the group is kinda slow, giving her a pre-established friendship with Helia so the two could bond over being the new kids and having her first bonds be with Flora and Brandon.

She doesn’t really feel like a part of the group until the girls’ make a mock welcome-to-the-Winx ceremony that they don’t realize is so very important to Aisha because she’s never been part of a group like this before.

^ All of that makes for someone who is incredibly loyal to her friends, everyone in the Winx is very loyal but for Aisha specifically it goes even deeper in the sense that, these aren’t just her best friends, they’re her first friends, the first people that ever made her feel accepted and safe and didn’t vanish on her.

Imposter Syndrome say What?

Imposter Syndrome is a real thing and Aisha suffers real badly because of it. This is smth I’m exploring in her arc during S4: Generation Why (Talk About How Fast We Grew). This affects her in 2 main ways-

She feels like she isn’t a real part of the squad after the confrontation with the Ancestral Witches back in s3 finale (I’ll talk a bit more about that in a moment)

She feels like she won’t be a good queen and often compares herself to Stella and Sky who’ve gotten more experience in that aspect. Aisha can feel suffocated by the thought of some day becoming the queen of Andros, even if she loves her planet, being ruler seems like smth that would take away most of her freedom, which is pretty much her biggest nightmare.

Now, I’ll take a moment here to say that I feel like I haven’t given Aisha the attention that she deserves due to s2 being when she’s introduced and s3 having so much PLOT going on that the character arcs got slightly lost for most of the squad. In S4 I want to redeem this cause my girl deserves some more focus. I will say that the Generation Why arc won’t be the beginning and end of Aisha’s evolution in s4, though it will have a pretty big impact on how she views certain things.

If I’m All I Have, That’s Enough

One of my fave moments in the entire rewrite, is Aisha’s fight against fake-Anne (the Ancestral Witches) where, as the Witches try to convince Aisha that the squad doesn’t truly care for her and only friends with her out of pity, Aisha makes it very clear that, even if that were true, she’d still fight for herself. Because she knows she’s someone who deserves to be fought for and protected.

But even if no one missed her… Aisha would not give up on herself.

She had been alone most of her life, which meant she’d had to take care of herself. And she wasn’t done doing that.

Maybe she still wasn’t all that comfortable in her own skin. Maybe she was still figuring out who she was and what she wanted. Maybe she still doubted herself and the way others viewed her sometimes.

…but that was okay.

She didn’t need to have everything figured out to know that she wanted to live. 

If not to see her friends again… then just for herself.

Because she wanted to meet the person she would become someday.

Because the twelve-year old Aisha she’d once been had deserved to be protected. Just as her future and present self deserved that too.

So if no one was there to save her… then she’d save herself… for herself.

I really wanted to send a message that, while a lot of media will give someone with low self esteem some other motivation to fight for themselves, I really wanted to have Aisha fight for herself, to see that, if no one would fight for herself, she herself would still do it.

It’s a bit hard to phrase but I do think it’s been one of the most beautiful moments in the whole rewrite and while yes, Aisha still doubts herself and her place in the group, she doesn’t doubt that she wants to keep going and that she will fight for who she was, who she is and who she will someday become.

This kinda manifests in her finally standing her ground against her mom and making her see that all the shit she put her through in her childhood was wrong and only affected her in a negative way. It also manifests in her immediately feeling like she was exaggerating (pesky intrusive thoughts) and having to be pulled out of spiraling by Nabu.

I’m really excited to finally give her a bit more attention in s4, beyond just the current arc.

You Can’t Spell Lonesome Without Me

I feel like I’m bouncing all over the place with this thesis but just bare with me please.

Aisha’s main trait as a character is loneliness. She’s been isolated most of her life and, thanks to intrusive thoughts and imposter syndrome, her brain will make her feel alone and like she isn’t a real part of the group, which of course leads her to sometimes be lonely even when she’s with the other girls.

Because you don’t heal from that shit in just one year.

I really wanted this for Aisha cause it’s smth I myself struggle with due to some… really bitchy behavior from certain ‘friends’ in middle school, to this day it will take me 6 months to truly believe someone likes me and isn’t annoyed at spending time with me. I’m in college and middle school still haunts me, so I think it’s only realistic for Aisha to not instantly heal from what was probably an even worse situation.

Her loneliness is one of your brain constantly sabotaging you even when you’re happy with the friend group you currently have.

Thoughts Behind her Main Relationships

Flora: They are best friends, and their friendship is one of softness and comfort. They’ve both dealt with extreme loneliness and have both felt like not-quite-part-of-the-group at some point or another even if it’s for different reasons.

They have a perfect introvert/extrovert balance and are the best at bringing the other out of their respective comfort zones without making it feel forced or pushy.

Their friendship is midnight tea and sitting on balconies looking at the stars and dancing on the beach and cuddling after nightmares and doing each other’s hair and helping each other forget the pain and remember why they love life.

I feel like their friendship can be hard to explain because their friendship is one of quiet moments, of comfort and softness and the little things. It’s the flowers in Aisha’s sweaters and the seashells on Flora’s necklaces. It’s the comfortable silence and the random dance parties.

Nabu: Something I really wanted to do with this relationship was have Nabu kinda help Aisha heal her inner child. When he reveals his identity, they’re playing on a see-saw, they talk while sitting on swings, they run around the beach kicking water up at each other.

Nabu lets her act like a kid, something Aisha never really got to do thanks to her mom. He lets her feel like she can be childish and embarrassing cause she knows he won’t make her feel bad for it. They feel safe around the other, enough to act however they want to.

Another big thing in their relationship was trust and open communication, their situation is slightly awkward due to having an arranged marriage in their future, Aisha questions both their feelings, if they truly fell for each other or if they were just taking the convenient way out. Nabu is very clear that that isn’t the case and that’s what allows their relationship to flourish.

Going to Nabu is really one of the first times Aisha allows herself to go after something she truly wants, contributing to her coming into her own person.

Brandon: So, I would say Brandon might be Aisha’s first deep connection in the squad along with Flora. Brandon kinda sees right through Aisha and her self-doubt and he’s the one that really helps her start coming out of her shell.

The two are massive extroverts and love any and all outdoors activities, and they bond massively over this, constantly going for hikes, skateboarding or trying out new things.

And yes… Aisha does have a bit of a crush on Brandon at first, due to him kinda being the first guy she connects with in her teenage years, and him being… well… Brandon. While she never makes advances or even thinks about it (cause she would never do that to Stella) this does make her feel like an actual teenager, since she never really got the experience of having a silly little teenage crush.

The two are very close and, since both are very touchy people, it does contribute to the crush. Once the crush phase passes, Aisha sees him as a platonic soulmate, the two have a lot in common but wouldn’t ever really work as a couple cause they have too much in common. They are very supportive of one another and just really get one another.

Who is Aisha in this Rewrite?

Aisha is a young woman learning to be comfortable in her skin and to live and fight for herself.

She’s an incredibly loyal friend who struggles with imposter syndrome and intrusive thoughts. She’s working through that and trying to stop feeling like an outsider.

Aisha is someone who spent most of her life in isolation and wishing to run away, to be free. She’s someone who’s learning and embracing a new meaning of freedom and who is trying to come into her own in a way she can be proud of and that won’t restrict her freedom or make her go back to the lonely girl she once was.

Aisha is someone who, even at her darkest times, will fight for herself.

hey please do that golden girls idea some day. it's one of my fave shows and umm I may have read some blanche/dorothy fanfics on ao3 before and I could def get behind the byler falling in love especially over late night cheesecake sessions. I'm such a dorothy irl and now I have to wonder who you see each of the orig 4 party members as?

i would love to do the golden girls idea someday!! and it's definitely on the backburner if i need something fun to work on in-between other projects just because i think it'd be so fun to have Lucas, Dustin, Mike, and Will in a dynamic like that. and it'd be fun to write them as older like that and dealing with the complexities of aging. i have a bad habit of making ideas way too complicated though, and i'd want this to be a short one, so i'd probably do something like write one of the Golden Girls episodes but with these four?? i was thinking of that one where Rose is working at the tv station and gets Dorothy and Blanche to be on a segment but it turns out the segment's about lesbian life in the US or something like that? i think it'd be fun to put byler in that situation where maybe Dustin works at a tv station and gets them on for a segment and then it's them being interviewed about what it's like to be a gay couple in the US and they're both like "um but we're not a couple 🤨" but by the end they are :D

i am also a Dorothy T_T or, to put it more specifically, i was assigned Dorothy by my mom lol. i grew up watching that show with her, and she always said i reminded her of Dorothy, which i'd have to agree with.

as for the og party being assigned a Golden Girls character? hmmm i've thought a lot about this, and i don't have a clear-cut answer, mostly because Dustin and Will are my biggest problems.

i see Mike as Dorothy 100%. like he just Fits that personality and dynamic in the group, especially since she's kinda the de facto leader

and idk how to properly explain it, but i can see Lucas as Sophia. he's caring but also has his fair share of sarcasm. plus it's shown on numerous occasions that Sophia has her own life outside of the rest of the girls, and i feel like that fits Lucas too, especially in s4 when he's trying out new stuff

and here's where the problem comes in: in terms of archetypes, i don't think Will lines up clearly with any of them? like maybe Dorothy too, but can there be two Dorothys?? at least in terms of the dynamics of the show, i don't think so. plus, i don't see him as much of a Rose or a Blanche,,,,,like out of those two, i would go with Rose, but i don't think he really fits that personality too much?? like yeah he's kind and can be backhanded like her, but it doesn't sit right with me :/

but then Dustin i could see as either Rose or Blanche!! in terms of his level of care about having a girlfriend/what girls think of him, and in terms of his own stubbornness for his ideas, then yeah, he could be the Blanche,,,but i feel like he also fulfills the Rose position somewhat too? like he fits her character in terms of his earnestness and then subsequently becoming the butt of the joke because of that earnestness

....so this is all to say that i have too many thoughts on it and it's complicated. if i ever do get around to writing it, i probably wouldn't do the Golden Girl archetypes specifically and just write the characters as they are but older. but still!! this was such a fun thought exercise. it also makes me wanna watch the show some more :'D

The boys.. Just. Yeah. I had high expectations going into the last episode. A lot had happened leading up to that episode, and I was like cool okay how is this gonna go and then I was left being a bit like. What. The only actions that really made sense (to me) was soldier boy not wanting to go back to a cage. And then when I look back at s3 it doesn't look like a narrative. It's a few pieces. Kripke using his fave boy as a little action doll (which I do appreciate but yanno). Maybe it's just a stepping stone to s4 but yeah... A bit of a let down for me

Yeah, I'll def still be watching the next season of the boys but this is the first finale (and season) they really whiffed. The sheer amount of weird bad character decisions makes me wonder if there was writer turnover? Like the show has never been perfect but at least the characters have all felt pretty consistent- this finale felt like they needed characters to be in a certain place to establish the main conflict for next season with no build-up to believably get the characters there. (pt 2) Like the twist with Ryan, who has barely been in this season and is apparently now evil enough to smile when Homelander brutally murders a dude in front of him. It doesn’t work with the sheltered kid vibe we’ve gotten from him for the past two seasons. If they wanted to focus on a toxic evil father-son duo next season they should have just kept Soldier Boy around, someone who could at least shake up the status quo and be a threat to Homelander without necessarily wanting to kill him.

Combining these into one answer:

"It doesn't look like a narrative" and "no build-up to believably get the characters there" are both really good summaries of whatever the hell happened in s3.

Structurally and logically, the whole thing was an absolute mess. I've thought of like six ways to fix it but I find it bizarre how much of a fail it is on just a basic thinking level. Apparently they had some Covid restriction issues and some actors who became unavailable, etc, which I guess would cause problems. And anon, to your point about wondering if there was writer turnover -- I wondered that too, although my bigger question is why the showrunner isn't enforcing some kind of throughline in the writer's room. Like. It isn't hard to quickly and effectively come up with good characterful solutions to problems, especially when so many of them could be done with relatively quick setups. On greenscreen, even.

It really did feel, though, like they only came up with what the story was actually about like halfway through, which is a goofy writing choice on par with someone posting chapters of their big bang and only 20k in going 'oh wait, *this* is the main pairing!' For the The Boys Season Three: Cycles of Abuse, we really started off with just fumbling and tedious moving of setpieces and no real... focus.

It is instructive, though, as far as writing is concerned. You've got the plot you want to work through and the characterization beats you want to hit: how are you going to show the reader/viewer the things they should be taking away from it and feeling?

It's wild to me how much of the season would have been entirely reframed if they'd started with a flashback of SB's coldly emotionally abusive father talking shit to young Ben, instead of the splashy doofy exploding penis. Cheaper, too. Think of how we'd have an emotional framework through which to see character behavior and choices; think of how that would set up Butcher and then Homelander's interactions with Ryan, and how we see who children choose to trust and the sort of people they'll become as a result.

Am I a fool for expecting more from the show that was always going to choose the exploding penis? Maybe. But I get very annoyed when millions of dollars are dumped into something that could have been great, and the writing --- the part you get to spend the most time on, the part that should be clearest and best --- lets it down so hard. #BeBetter.

You should def do a top 20 or top 10 or top 5 episodes of the OC one day 👀 I said three different amounts because I don't know what you'd be willing or even have the time to do, but I would take whatever we can get while also not being able to deny that I would love to hear your 20 favs if you'd be down, but I know that's a lot. They don't necessarily have to be ranked, I'm fine either way! Some people hate ranking stuff which I understand, I don't mind it though. I'm assuming the Mall Episode and all of a few of the Chrismukkahs would be up there? A lot of season 1 eps? There's that one where Seth and Summer paint/reorganize Marissa's room and the core 4 end up cuddling on the bed together. I'm so curious! And full disclosure I only recently watched the OC for the first time this summer, and had never really heard of it before a friend recommended it to me after I had binged the original Gossip Girl. I was born in 96 and just completely missed its place in pop culture 😭 haven't seen OTH either, but maybe one day. We'll see lol. There's so much content these days and while I am in the mood for teen drama sometimes it's not my favorite genre. While I was watching the Mischa pieces dropped so that was interesting. Hate what they did to Marissa as a character. 100% team Mischa/Marissa. Getting through season 4 was ROUGH. Followed your blog right after I finished watching I think because I really wanted to know what other people thought of the show. Love hearing your thoughts. Sorry for rambling a bit x

And no I love ranking!! It's fun and helps me organize my thoughts! Tbh, I'm not a huge fan of any Chrismukkah ep, but 2x06 The Chrismukkah That Almost Wasn't is my fave. I feel like the Chrismukkah eps never position Marissa in a favorable light so they make me cringe but I love the drama of 2x06. I don't really get when people say they hate Lindsay since she's boring when her father is literally Caleb Nichol and Marissa's stepsister. I mean the show only touched on the awkwardness of Marissa/Lindsay in 2x09 but the potential is SO there for good tension. Maybe it's me living in those possibilities more than anything else.

1x24 The Proposal is a fave for sure. Definitely a top 10er! Aww it's okay! I was born in '95 and weirdly got into it in high school when it wasn't streaming anywhere and I had to watch on DVDs and SoapNet when I was sick. Oh, SoapNet. Those were the days. Eh, I could live without OTH. It's not as great as The OC even at its height, but s2 of their show is fantastic. I made the mistake of witnessing the Leyton vs. Brucas ship wars and they scarred me for life. No joke, if you got into that show during that era, you will never get over it.

I love some teen dramas but I'm not a huge afficiado or anything. If you're looking for some 90s/00s teen drama and a relationship that has you shook and subverts narrative expectations, Dawson's Creek is your fix. Their first two seasons are contentious IMO but oh my god in s3 you'll have an otp for life. But that show also struggles with female characterization.

Anyway, congrats on getting through s4 of this show! That's honestly an achievement. Actually, getting through s3 of this show is also an undertaking. That shit gets so tired but does pick up toward the end. Here on this blog I don't really acknowledge what happens in 3x25 because I firmly believe that Marissa sailed away to Greece and lived her best goddamn life. The s1 ones I do actually love more than the others since s1 is the bomb. Also 2x14 is an overrated episode I said what I said. The only really iconic thing is the final (incredible) Champagne Supernova coda which is the prime example of me thinking I love an ep while only remembering it for one thing. Anyway!!

i feel lucky that i entered the fandom in 2014 post s4 lol. i read the books first then joined tumblr as i was watching the show and ofc book 3 and 4 i IMMEDIATELY latched on to jb because of all the feels (i dreamed of you????????? golden bitchslap???????? brienne remembering jaime looked like a god even when he was half dead lmao????????? jaime's thoughts going to brienne "unbidden"??????? hahaha AND ENEMIES TO FRIENDS TO LOVERS aka my kryptonite along with a bunch of other tropes??????) BUT i honestly thought i was alone in this because the few friends i had who were reading the books didn't care that much about jb, they didn't hate it but they didn't STAN it like i did. and a lot of the most popular asoiaf/got blogs i got as recs when i joined tumblr weren't hugely into JB either. :(

BUT on ao3 there were quite a lot of JB fics and i devoured as many as i could lol and then followed these people on tumblr etc it was like "I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE" hehe. the thing is a lot of the bnf people would have the same takes on a lot of characters and i agreed with some of it, but a lot i didn't and the way these guys read jaime and cersei is one thing. (a lot also about why is cersei evil while tyrion and jaime are the "good guys" and meta about how all 3 are equally bad and im just :| *thor meme about is it though??*)

as someone who actually first fell in love with jaime's character and then jb as a ship and he's if not #1 fave then at least #2 fave from asoiaf watching the bigger jb blogs counter with jaime meta was hugely satisfying haha.

I mean you probably dodged a few bullets joining at that point X°D but yeah I mean nvm that I 100% agree with you, you're... dead-on re the major opinions re jaime and tyrion vs c. but again that's because all of the groundwork for those takes happened before S2 and it was mostly because of the same few people having a lot of traction and dictating the narrative except for some exceptions *shrug again* that said I was ride or die for jaime in book one anyway and he was in my top three until theon's adwd chapters happened and he had to cede but like... I was def into both j and b as separate characters way before they met but j was in my top three from the get go and when I showed up after my month of binging I was like 'wait what are these takes why' but again I never interacted directly with any of them and I have zero interest in doing so now I'm just waiting for george to just-dessert everything esp re all of them being equally bad (which they aren't X°D) also anon your jb enlightenment and mine were just about the same dkllkjgs but that said: the above is 90% of the reason why in this fandom if you want to read stuff re jb you have to go where the shippers are and not in the general area bc there's like maybe two major ppl I can think of who actually are into it :(

station 19 - season 4, etc

this is long but i want to put down my thoughts before thursday comes and i guess i have A Lot To Say.

honestly didn’t pay much attention to this show until halfway through season two—  always liked maya and was glad that they gave her more to do. going into season 3, i was excited for more character development &stronger storylines. however, by the end of  301 the dip in quality was glaringly obvious. a quick google search revealed that there was a new showrunner and, well, it showed. 

while the show had been going in a really good direction with balancing the screen time between andy and the other regulars, this season, the plot was all over the place. it was uber dramatic and just. so much happened just to happen? seemed like every other episode had a major event(deaths alone; ryan,rigo,pruitt?!!?). they were so frequent, it was hard to process. it was also hard to get invested as the characters themselves moved on(or were shown to have moved on, extremely quickly!) 

i enjoy the show for what it is and i have no delusions about broadcast tv shows (or shondaland productions, for that matter)but the suspension of disbelief.... i mean: a stabbing, a robbery, a shooting and a car crash? all in one episode? please! lmaooooo. drama for dramas sake is always boring and weakens the story.  

& as for the characters... .

everyone felt like a hollow version of themselves this season and it was hard to watch sometimes, actually. characters switched motivations /personalities for the sake of the current episode and i know this show is very ‘monster/emergency of the week’ but. some consistency! please! like—

maya: she’s always been determined and focused but they went so far with it this season, it was almost cartoonish. her competitiveness was hinted at in season 2 but she was always portrayed as self aware. ‘the beast,’ as she dubbed it to andy, was something she knew of and tried to contain, because she knew it could get out of hand. 

yet, in season 3 she suddenly forgets this and just. becomes the most power hungry/singularly focused person, ever. she goes after the captain position behind andy’s back, (citing andy’s emotional state, because of the death of her best friend as a reason she shouldn’t get the job?? huh. since when is maya this purely callous??!) she just doesn’t give af, suddenly, about andy at all, and goes for a job that she is hardly qualified for(she was lieutenant for like, a few months?)

and then after she gets the position, she just. loses all sense of reality? literally she was so unhinged(fun to watch but so much) and it was like. um?? maya has never been the uptight one (they've mentioned and depicted andy as being the one like this, multiple times!) and we know she knows how to have fun, so, for her to all of a sudden just. not know how to read the room? yeah okay. to make her so intense and severe, especially w the drills and training was, a choice. a bad one, on the writers part. like, i get that they needed her start as captain to be dramatic or whatever,  but there were ways to do that. and even the animosity with the team and her went so far, i just think that whole storyline was amazingly lazy, honestly.  

and the friendships!! andy and maya’s friendship is just, a mess. at this point they've spent more time at odds, and the idea that they're supposed to be best friends with this super close bond? yeah, i just... i dont buy it tbh. if they'd spent more time building up their connections and making us understand why they would be friends and showing them being there for each other past a few scattered scenes her and there? maybe. but so far, that hasn't been the case.  making that bond real, solidifying that friendship, would have made this conflict have more of an emotional impact. but doing it now? making maya ‘turn’ on andy, this soon and this drastically just. it made her seem like she was extremely jealous and had been waiting to pull the rug out from under andy all along. and also, why would they stay friends when, so far, maya has showed, time and time again, that she’s willing to let her wants/ambitions leech on her loyalty to andy? (jack thing, job thing, etc). although, it’s not like andy’s a good friend to maya either, she’s selfish and seems to like it when maya is in her corner but isnt always there for her. they went so far with the idea that maya was this coldly calculating asshole that she was almost a villain?? it was so silly to me.

and the traumatic home life plot they gave to maya was clearly their attempt at some adding nuance to her character and trying to explain why she would act the way she did, but to me? it fell flat. it was rushed, and they went from zero to 100(why did her mother come to talk about her divorce/abuse at maya’s job? like she was literally working? idgi. no boundaries lmaoo) 

and i actually relate and sympathize w maya a lot. and while i liked that they were exploring the many ways abuse can present itself, it was very... hm, ham-fisted. just super rushed and then wrapped up so quickly. they have, i think, written themselves into this dark place i fear they have no intention of exploring. 

and while i understand it, i hated how far they let maya go, especially because i don't feel they’ll adequately address it. they move on so quickly( maya was deaf for like half a season and then. she just. wasn't) and i hate the idea of her just being ‘fixed’. a relationship and an apology doesn't undo years of abuse, idc. also will they ever address maya’s um, thoughts about death??? because that was super heavy and not just something someone gets over? going to need for her to get actual professional help. that isn’t her girlfriend, like. asap. 

speaking of carina, i do like her and maya together a lot. big part of why i watch, ngl. but i need their relationship to be a lot more reciprocal. like, lets dial it back on the codependency, maybe. carina cant (and shouldn't have to) hold her up so much ! that’s not love. also maya needs to start being a good girlfriend. they started off that way, i know they can get back there. but like, we hardly got to see them settle into it, we got those cute 30sec clips of sweetness then maya was lashing out and cheating and it was like. wait a minute! what??? 

for s4, i want to see them working at reconciling—im talking, groveling, awkward in-between moments where carina isnt sure she can trust her. okay, tough conversations, hell, even jealousy because let's be real. maya working with jack is a lot for carina to just. take? i know i absolutely would not be happy about that, but i also wouldnt take maya back so... anyway! brushing over that would not just be a missed storytelling opportunity, but it would also be super unfair to carina and do a huge disservice to their relationship as a whole. as cute as they are, having cute moments with no real depth would get very old, very quickly.

carina: what can i say but-perfect, amazing, fantastic, WOW

seriously, carina is almost unrealistically perfect. she takes a lot and has been through the most (can they be nice 2 her this season? like just for fun) going forward, im going to need her to be more than a plot device to calm and soothe maya. i get that she was introduced as a love interest, but in season 4(as a season!!regular!!) that cant be all she is.

speaking of, it was really weird to me that she was promoted to station 19 and not greys because... what is a gynecologist going to do at a fire station? the general consensus seems to be that she’ll join warren’s PRT but like. she’s not a general surgeon so that’s a reach but, i want her around so ill buy it. i just want better and more for her tbh. not just screen-time, but also character development and depth! also friends! tired of carina being isolated, they did it on greys which. a waste! i meaaan, amelia was RIGHT. THERE. just look at the material! for s19, i want her, vic and travis to be friends or even just her and vic, like yesplease! i also want to know more about her and im tired of her being treated badly. like, i think society had progressed past carina being shitted on, thanks!

vic: my fave!!! they did so lazy by her this season ugh. she’s so charismatic and charming and just so good!! yet, her storyline was all over the place. we hardly got to see her sit with her grief  (spontaneous crying aside; barrett doss is so good!) she was just kind of... around. and that relationship w jackson. lol. it was so obviously for crossover potential and well. i didnt hate it or like it. actually, i was mostly indifferent. bored, even when they were onscreen together. i just didn't care and wanted more of vic, not vic and whoever. i know they're up in the air rn but i wouldn’t be torn up if he doesn’t come back. 

i want more for vic past just romantic entanglements. i know we’ve gotten a bit of her past, but i would like to see more! also, what about employment accomplishments? her artsy theatre friends? her family? just. more vic, please!!

she’s so fun and cool and when they let her, she shines. they need to let her! 

jack: my boy! so dumb, but i love him sm. he def needs like. major help, though lmao. and maybe it’s just me but im tired of his sex addict plot. like, we get it, but can we move on now? kthanks. they need to let him work on himself especially, the constant self sabotage. it's getting old. for ALL of them, actually, seriously, how many times can they all get in their own way.

andy: don’t really think about her. the mom storyline seems like it would be wonderfully dramatic, im intrigued. she and sullivan are cute, i guess. hope they make it.

ben: no major issues w his storyline, hardly remember it honestly. i liked the rapport he was building w vic and want them to explore that relationship more, its cute. 

travis: so funny and adorable, let him do more.

dean: loved him in all his entitled first born African son glory. i didnt so much love the baby plot but that always bores me. his sudden love for vic though. lol. since when? it def, came out of no where and while i really enjoy their friendship, to me, there is zero romantic chemistry there so i would prefer it if they just. stopped. lmao. also. the way he treated her because he could get a handle on his emotions? ridiculous. has humanity not like, gotten past the ‘he’s mean bc he likes you’ thing?? like grow up maybe?

and this isnt just about dean but like. are there not more single young people in seattle? why do they all have to sleep with the same 5 people. ik for the sake of plot, workplace relationships are easier but still. i think they should branch out. really. 

overall, i want better for all of them, and i think if the writers would just. take a moment and stop trying to tell so many stories in such little time, they could do better! also, whoever’s out there. please, enough w the crossovers! dont want to be forced to watch greys just to know what’s happening on 19. i get that they're in the same universe. it’s only mentioned every other episode. we. get, it. i liked what they did with private practice, it was like once every few seasons. and i know they won’t do that, but maybe, two a season. 

this is so much. but this how does have a ton of potential and i just really want it . like, get there.

hm well skam nl is my favorite and their social media game is trash LMAOOO so generally No but i do feel like remakes who DO have such a good presence kind of elevate the show and i think it’s pretty heartwarmin to see some remakes go sm farther than skam with social media and puttin out educational and IN CHARA resources like skames does this so well and i feel like in that way, the team is really really spreadin skam’s spirit via these resources (like joana’s billion bpd awareness ig accounts and lucas rubio’s yt channel)

2. Least favourite clip of the show? Why?

tbh there are definitely some duds but probably one of the clips with sana gettin herself into a hole in s4 just bc some were hard to watch cus cringey or yikes .... idk i cant think of others LMAO

season 2 - hm ig noora chasin after william ??

season 3 - bro NOTHINGGG call me a purist but its such a refined masterpiece like the pacing is good the characterization is so good ugh i deadass cant think of anythin

season 4 - i always felt a little ??? w noora being sana’s bff ig bc from s1-s3 it didn’t Feel like they were that close like even in noora’s pov, sana wasn’t really a part of it that much ?? like eva was more of noora’s bff ?? so i feel like it would have made more sense if maybe sana spoke more with chris or vilde bc sana and vilde eventually seemed to get closer esp with kosegruppa and chris has always been by sana’s side ?? idk that always confused me

5. What is your opinion on the cast’s participation on social media? Do you prefer it when the cast aren’t that involved like the Skam cast, or do you like a lot of content like the Fr cast do?

tbh i don’t care much abt the casts LMAOOO if anythin it kind of brings more harm as seen with the harassment axel and maxence get and also can bring more controversy like with irene (which honestly is p sad considerin how much i love skames bc now i feel super :/ watchin it like she shouldve just had private accts at this point)

IJXDWQOIJJ yes .... remakes-wise, people hate skam nl s2’s last half but i enjoyed it for the most part ... i think the pacing was off for the last ep but personally, clip 50 made up for it and is p god tier imo ..... and also don’t think the first half of ep10 is enough to discredit the entire season bc i rlly loved seeing liv’s pov and have sm fave moments from the season 

but skam wise, omg might get a lil controversial w this one IM SORRY !!! im bein honest and its Just my opinion ok 

personally s2 got me more invested than s1 and i don’t think its a super bad season like i didnt really say many problems wrong with it until i got on tumblr wiejioqjoiqjq i was sort of interested in the questions that the noora/william dynamic brought up which is, as expressed in william’s war speech to noora, that nothing is ever black/white which i feel was a huge message and feeds into the ‘you never know what ppl are going through’ theme of the season ... like i like the idea of someone like noora, who can have a black/white mentality (as seen in the first clip of s2 when she tells vilde that they can’t have the tannin company as their sponsor bc they objectify women or smth but misses the context and what it could mean for the bus monetarily bc shes caught up in bein ‘woke’) having to break out of that and see more than one side ... and i think remakes like skam austin expanded on this idea well like when zoya was like ‘must be so nice being right all the time’ which i Do feel like is an important for youth to know today .... bc i think its so easy to get caught up in the idea of being so objectively right and morally superior that people lose sight of the more nuanced characteristics to life ... (omg long ramble BUT)

also LMAOOOOO this one might be more controversial as it pertains to bench scene s4 ok oops again doNT GOTTA AGREE !! ........ but i feel like the scene had a lot of good intentions ... i was def kind of cringing a bit tho bc i understand the subject’s sensitivity and how these topics are hard to talk about but i genuinely feel like they both made Some points and should listen to each other .... like as Hard and as maybe ‘unwoke’ it is to admit, unfortunately you sort of do have to answer the tough questions bc that way we learn from each other .... and i perfectly understand why some ppl wouldn’t want to do this and i certainly am tired abt havin to answer shit abt my sexuality or stupid male questions abt women but if u dont answer them, people do go lookin for answers still and the internet is such a shitty place that its pretty easy (esp with youtube’s algorithm) to lead you to ignorant ppl and perhaps radicalization .... questions help us to better understand our community and sometimes they can have good intentions too but we have to ask and answer them or else people will make up answers (which ive literally seen and its honestly worse to see fake as shit and UNINFORMED answers bc ppl did not want to ask you or ppl of ur identity, esp when they’re already startin from a place of hate .... but i rather have ppl ask me patronizing questions than have them spread false info bc that can do much more harm in the long run) however i DO think that isak should also consider sana’s side and i sort of wish we saw him conceding more bc they both have smth to learn from one another, like sana shouldn’t just be learnin from isak, isak needs to learn from sana too

omg honestly too much to write here tbh ..... but if it says anythin im (very slowly) in the works of a three part skam essay about basically how skam teaches us to be better humans and how to better treat the people we care about diowjqioj essentially the three biggest themes of the show: you never know what someone is going through so always be kind, always communicate with your friends, and no person is ever alone and i feel like these are definitely rlly good messages to live by (also livet er nå BITCH !!!)

omg tbh i could not tell u at all how the skam charas are doing except i hope even is okay thats all im thinkin of ok .... OIWXIOJX omg remakes wise tho ..... honestly im so bad at this girl IDK !!!!! the first character i ever fell in love with: jimmy perez

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: billy’s dog, but that’s bc he isn’t there anymore? 😭

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: when it comes to shetland, i’m more of a one-ship-only-kinda-girl

my ultimate favorite character™: ah, that has to be jimmy again, just because he’s such a kind person. i love his quietness and his empathy for people, his compassion, his optimism and positive outlook on humanity that he guards so fiercely against the despair and violence he sees in his job, and his reluctance to give up on anybody, his moral integrity and his desire to treat people fairly and without prejudice. and i also love the sad things about him, his struggle to overcome his grief and (re-)connect with people. and i like that eventhough he admits himself that he is not always good at sharing his emotions, he still allows himself to be open and vulnerable with a selected few (mostly cassie and duncan) and he tries his best to be a good dad. (having said that, duncan has really grown on me as well. and i have a lot of feelings about him)

prettiest character: tosh (typical case of “do i want to be her? or do her?” she has some good flannels 👌) also duncan keeps getting hotter each season, which is doing things to both jimmy and me 💦

my most hated character: it’s a tough call between alice and olivia, but i think i have to go with olivia just bc (apart from all the other shitty things she’s done) she was really cruel to jmmy and never apologised

my OTP: i don’t know if anybody has noticed… but that’d be jimmy/duncan

my NOTP: jimmy/any forced love interest he falls in love with after 5 seconds

favorite episode: from the free-standing episodes i think i like red bones and raven black the best; and i also really love the final episode of s4 (which has some really good jimmy and duncan scenes; what can i say, i am a simple woman)

saddest death: thomas malone; oh boy, his death destroyed me

favorite season: i just re-watched s3 and that was a really good season, but overall i think i love s4 the most, both in terms of plot/case and the character moments

least favorite season: for now, i think i’ll have to say s5 bc even though it was still a pretty great season, i didn’t like it as much as ones before. but it gave us some great jimmy and duncan moments so idek 🤷‍♀️ i def have to watch it again without the one week break between the episodes, maybe i’ll like it a bit better then

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: i seldomly change my mind when it comes to liking/disliking a character, and if i do, it’s more likely that i grow to love them? at least that’s what happened with jean innocent for me. i used to feel a bit indifferent about her in the beginning when she was mostly the annoying boss figure who made robbie and james do things they didn’t like, but i ended up really liking her.

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: i’ve only ever loved one ship in this fandom…

let me try to remember my buffy/angel episode feelings as i rewatch because i have a bad memory -- one-two sentences per ep @ezrisdax @feelsandotps

I started at 1x12, skipped most of 1. Btw my faves are still Cordelia & Buffy, and my problematic fave is Spike, there it is. I felt like S3 was my fave, but I really appreciate the Spike in S4, so there’s that -- I think 4 has some great eps and 2 of course does as well.

SEASON 1

12. Prophecy Girl - Buffy dies, ouch, but Xander has a heroic moment (?), I think Buffy’s already depressed and it’s S1.

SEASON 2 1. When She Was Bad - See, Buffy’s already depressed and angry but everyone should cut her some slack SHE DIED, SHE’S TRYING. 2. Some Assembly Required - Oh I already forgot about this one, but it was fun because they tried to kill Cordelia and she was great and I adore Cordelia 3. School Hard - SPIKE is here and Spike/Dru are amazing. Also parent teacher night honestly Joyce&Buffy so far is ouch in general. 4. Inca Mummy Girl - This one’s the other kind of ouch like you did a pretty bad job with portraying people who aren’t white, come on. 5. Reptile Boy - Oh the one with the demons in the frat boy basement, nice team scenes, nice metaphor for the patriarchy (yeah I’ve been listening to Buffering the Vampire Slayer, did I mention that). 6. Halloween - Def a S2 favorite they all turn into their costumes Buffy’s helpless, Cordelia’s normal, Xander’s in the army, the whole Willow ghost thing, Spike’s there, it’s great. 7. Lie to Me - The one with the cult who wanted to be vamps. Not much memory of this one except like...the guy had cancer which was sad, not a fave. 8. The Dark Age - First Ripper stuff so that’s fun! 9 & 10. What’s My Line, Part 1/2  - Kendra! Angel tied to a cross! Spike! A fun plan where we save them as a Team. What’s not to like? 11. Ted - Ah, Joyce’s robot boyfriend. Odd, but memorable and like...really dark...when she gets arrested. 12. Bad Eggs Oh yeah, there’s like a monster under the school and everyone’s possessed. Joyce&Buffy is still ouch. 13. Surprise I like when Cordelia jumps out of the cake...but anyway...this is a good though PAINFUL arc, not a Bangel fan. 14. Innocence Ouch Angelus and sad Buffy, but they use a rocket launcher in a mall which is cool. 15. Phases Oz! I never realized he got bit by like his baby cousin? LOL. Touching arc in this ep though!  16. Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered Everyone loves Xander, I liked that there was a Cordy focus.  17. Passion OUCH. JENNY. 18. Killed by Death The kind of out-of-normal-context one where Buffy’s in the hospital with ghostly kids! Well done though, has Cordelia’s “tact is just not saying true stuff line” 19. I Only Have Eyes for You I was creeped out by the fact that it was a teacher student relationship and no one cared? Good writing though. 20. Go Fish Haha, Xander and the swim team. I like Cordelia’s monologue about Xander. 21. Becoming, Part 1/2 KENDRA :( BUFFY :( Oh also some great Spike scenes (with Joyce). And of course the ENNNND ouchhh. I’m not fine.

S2 Faves: Halloween, School Hard, Becoming, Passion (ouch!)

SEASON 3 1. Anne - BUFFYS DEPRESSED SOME ONE HELP HER 2. Dead Man’s Party - BUFFY’S DEPRESSED STOP BEING MEAN TO HER 3. Faith, Hope and Trick - Hi, Faith. Didn’t like Faith as much last time, she’s grown on me. 4. Beauty and the Beasts - Another good expansion of Oz’s arc and some Bangel emotions. 5. Homecoming - GREAT I love Buffy and Cordelia and they are together and it’s amazing. Cordelia’s speech at the end is quality. 6. Band Candy - GREAT I mean Joyce and Giles and Snyder as teens it’s so funny and well-paced, nice. 7. Revelations -- This one has an evil British watcher and Xander/Willow (plus Xander being kind of a jerk), not a fave. 8. Lovers Walk -- GREAT. Painful ending. Love Spike & Willow. GREAT. SPIKE/BUFFY/ANGEL WORKING TOGETHER I LOVE THIS. 9. The Wish - GREAT. Ouch. Alt!Buffy. NICE. 10. Amends -- Like, Angel’s past is kind of awful? Give me Angel-the-show dorky Angel please! 11. Gingerbread -- Haha the one where the Sunnydale people try to kill witches I mean again @Joyce&Buffy, ???? not the greatest relationship ???  12. Helpless GREAT OUCH GREAT...the Watcher’s Council tests Buffy, GILE’S DILEMA, BUFFYS BETRAYAL ouch 13. The Zeppo I mean I like Xander’s arc about believing in himself more, despite him not being great all the time, I still like him overall, glad he got a chance to shine. 14. Bad Girls Faith stop corrupting Buffy! This show has more like very heavily implied Faith/Buffy than I remembered. OUCH @ the ending. 15. Consequences OUCH @ the whole episode with Faith, especially the Xander bit, rougher than I remembered  16. Doppelgangland VAMP!Willow. Willow trying to be vamp!Willow was funny. Another one where I remember good team stuff. 17. Enemies OUCH I totally forgot and thought Angel was really Angelus. Heartbreaking and well done. 18. Earshot I love this one! Jonathan! “Are you planning on killing anyone tomorrow? It’s for the yearbook.” 19. Choices Everyone should let Buffy live basically!  20. The Prom Xander/Cordelia is nice, but isn’t Xander poor? Wesley/Cordelia is creepy? WILD HORSES. BUT YEAH THE UMBRELLA AND I CRY. 21. Graduation Day, Part 1/2  I LOVE THE WHOLE SCHOOL COMING TOGETHER NICE NICE

S3 Faves: Homecoming, Band Candy, Lover’s Walk, the Wish, Helpless, Earshot, Prom, Graduation Day...and a few more I also like a lot, that’s why I really like this season

SEASON 4

1. The Freshman - Buffy's having a hard time in college someone help her! 2. Living Conditions - Buffy’s roommate is a demon, a bit overdone but pretty fun! 3. The Harsh Light of Day - Like the Spike/Buffy banter is great but Parker is awful and honestly Spike is awful too, some of the end fight scene comments are BAD. Also Spike should treat Harmony better. 4. Fear, Itself - Haunted house fears, nice Halloween ep. 5. Beer Bad - I honestly like drunk!Buffy it’s fun!  6. Wild at Heart - Ouch, Oz & Willow OUCH. 7. The Initiative - Buffy/Riley really had a whole fight and didn’t recognize each other? Still I don’t hate Riley so far. 8. Pangs - Look there were some problematic things but I thought the dialogue and episode arc was SO well done and so funny. And they made an attempt to address something, they did a bad job but they tried. Team!Thanksgiving is <3 and perfectionist!Buffy and Spike tied to a chair, Xander/Anya etc. etc. lots of good stuff, I think it’s still a s4 favorite. 9. Something Blue - Ah, cursed!engaged Spuffy NICE. 

SEASON 1 ANGEL

1. City Of Look I LOVE ANGEL tbh just the opening and the noir tone and CORDELIA it’s great it’s nice AND DORKY angel and cordelia knows the guys a vamp it’s great! DOYLE.

2. Lonely Heart I don’t love Kate and this demon was weirdly like an STD as well.

3. In the Dark Cordy/Doyle got to feature, and Spike. Not really sure why Angel destroyed the thing (makes him more tortured?)

4. I Fall to Pieces That was actually a pretty creepy stalking episode. Well done bringing attention to how violence against women can be overlooked.

5. Rm w/ a Vu Love this one! CORDELIA IS AMAZING. CORDELIA. IS AMAZING. Dennis is nice too!

6. Sense & Sensitivity I love dorky!Angel, I love when dorky!Angel has to speak his feelings! Poor Kate!

7. Bachelor Party Doyle/Cordy were so close! Definitely a fun one with everyone working together. I’m just having a lot of Angel&Cordy&Doyle feelings

8. I Will Remember You Look I skipped this one for now tbh, I’m just not in a Bangel mood, haha.

So yeah I looked up the next episode and...I thought that was the S1 finale?? That’s...ouch.

1. what season did you start watching supernatural? - I watched the first 3 episodes in Late 2013, but was too scared to continue after 8 minutes into Phantom Traveler, but I eventually grew more accustomed to “horror” flicks and picked it back up in Summer 2015 so I guess that season 10 had just ended during that time.

2. who was the first character you fell in love with? - Cassie was the first character I fell in love, Sam and Dean were great from the beginning, but when Cassie came on my screen I think I really started to get invested into the show. 

3. who was a character that you hated at first but grew to love? - Rowena, I really didn’t enjoy her character the first time around, but I ended up loving her so much the second time around. 

4. which character would you most want to be in a long-term relationship with? - Any longterm relationship with any of these characters would definitely end in death so umm, I guess Sam or Dean, cause I’m a basic bitch and if I have to die I guess it’ll be with one of them... plus they are kind of a package deal so that’s nice. 

5. if you could go on just one date with one character, which one would you choose? - One date? I guess Garth, idk I feel like he’s got some really dope connections and he’s super chill so I feel like it would be fun to hang out with him for a date.

6. what would you do on the date? - Um, I have no clue. I would probably let him decide because I feel like no matter what he decided it would be really fun and unique. 

7. which character would you most want to be like? - Kevin, tbh. I’m currently a college student and I actually need his motivation and work ethic real fucking bad so def. him.

8. which character would you most like to see brought back from the dead? - Michael isn’t technically dead but he would be cool to seen brought back. John Winchester would be badass as hell. Death is a great choice. I don’t know what he would contribute to the story but I love Kevin so I’d love to see him back. 

9. which character would you most like to punch? - Lucifer.

10. who is your absolute favorite character? - Sam and Dean cause I’m basic and I love them so fucking much it’s an issue. If I HAD to pick one I would pick Sam, but only because he doesn’t get as much love as Dean (in the fandom, in the show, in general really). But I truly love them equally. 

11. which “big bad” do you think was the worst? - My least favorite big bad was Pestilence purely because he was disgusting and hard to look at and his entrance scene where he was coughing and snotting all over everything scarred me for life.

12. which character are you most like? - Chuck (not God version)

13. what death hit you the hardest? - Cyrus Styne, cause I’m really weird. He was just the epitome of innocence and to see him so cruelly and quickly killed broke me a little. Like the first time I watched Supernatural I didn’t cry at any death until him. (Now I cry at all the deaths)

14. what season finale hit you the hardest? - Season 5 is a basic answer, but it’s partly true... I mean jumping into the pit because of the pure love he had for his brother, Chuck disappearing and my speculation that he was God, Sam magicked right out of the pit, it was a wild ride. But besides that I also remember being shooketh at s4 how it ended in the bright light.

hello sorry new player, feel free not to answer, what is the overwatch meta as far as good and bad heroes and team balance (how many supports etc) goes

i guarantee a check on google would yield more useful knowledge than me at 2am but i’ll try my best

s3 has been the time of ana’s glory with the tank meta and its various iterations. not relevant to helping you but i remember when i heard about NiP running 3 tank 3 healer for the first time i was just amazed. this was back when 2-2-2 was god.

for a fair length of time over the season, the meta has (generally) been 3 tank, 2 healers (ana w/ zen or luci), 1 dps (s76). the current meta has been an exploitation of ana’s ridiculously high healrate, s76′s ridiculously high dps, and other stuff like d.va’s buffs (though she was nerfed again recently because it was a little too hard to kill her) and the fairly high dps that the tanks have (fighting a high energy zarya, d.va who can aim, hog who can land hooks, or nano+speedboosted rein is nothing to scoff at).

this meta’s keystone is ana, like with the 3-3 meta. and the tanks revolve around her. s76 added for spice. by swapping out different tanks, you can construct the team for different purposes.

not every team will run triple tank. most of my comp games were 2-2-2, but a fair number have been triple tank, especially at this meta’s peak. within the context of this meta, here are the general hero breakdowns. though i’m sure s4 will have its own surprises with whatever balances/hero additions (if any) we get.

ana: you almost always want to have an ana if you’re running 3 tank. even after the biobomb nerf, her healrate remains high and her kit in general is imo one of the best in the game, if not the best.

zen: some more dps here, utility with the disc orb. not a super high healrate, but his defensive ult is good.

lucio: utility with the speedboost, some extra heals, good defensive ult. you’ll probably want him over zen as 2nd healer if you need a dive comp, so he can help your team get right in.

mercy: LOU D … SUFFERING … SIGH …… alright, she has a very high healrate. her ult can be very good if she can stay alive, but it also means she’s better on defence. would not recommend pairing with ana. less of a shot in the foot if you’re pairing her with luci/zen.

d.va: i’ve heard plenty of complaints about her being shit after the nerfs, but i’d say she’s still strong. matrix being able to eat ults and proj/bullets is pretty good, and she has mobility. even with the decreased armour, her hp remains solid. ult is good, esp in a grav. pick for dive comp.

rein: the shield is useful, never underestimate it. sure he’s not super mobile, but he’s still pretty good, especially on def or payload atk. even if we’re past the prime era of nanoboosting rein, he can still do a lot of dmg if he has his ult or even a lucio speedboost. or if he’s on defence and the enemies are forced to approach.

hog: you get more dps, what do you have to complain about? the hook 2.0 isn’t fantastic, but i can’t say much about it because its change was pretty recent in comparison to the meta. i’m sure it’s still a good pick tool in the hands of a good player; displacing the enemy can very well be enough to secure a kill. even better if you get a healer.

winston: after the symm buffs? with mobility? dive comp. all i really need to say. also counters the pesky flies that are genji and tracer.

zarya: another one of the best kits in the game. really can’t go wrong having a good zarya on any team. if she can charge high energy, she can help shred through the enemy tanks. and her ult is amazing, of course.

s76: he was buffed. he has yet to be nerfed. his dps is high enough for him to get a place in this meta as the primary dps pick. he’s strong and versatile, and can work with a dive comp b/c of sprint.

this post is getting long but i guess i can mention the others real quick

genji: can be good for picks, but hog’s hook and rein’s ult can shut him the fuck down. zarya bubbles can work against him too, as usual. unless you’re a good genji, he probably won’t do enough dmg against the enemy tanks for it to bother them much.

mccree: all the tanks but hog have shields to fuck him and his ult over. and hog has his hook anyway. poor mccree.

pharah: again, not really enough dps and the shields present quite the obstacle. a decent enemy ana/zen can snipe her out of the sky easily.

reaper: you’d think that as a tank buster, he’d be ok against the tanks. that’s just not really the case. getting close enough to do good dmg against them is not easy. and when you get close enough, you have multiple tanks to contend with.

sombra: unfortunately i am far from qualified to comment on her, but i will say that she can be very, very effective. if she can land a good ult and keep solid hold of the health packs, maybe get a pick, she can be very strong against a lot of team comps. esp b/c hacking removes shields. she can nullify lucio’s entire ult, but you’d have to be pretty good at her to be effective at her.

tracer: same as genji

bastion: imo the success rate of running bastion against a tank meta depends entirely on how incompetent, uncoordinated, and stupid the enemy team is. ymmv

hanzo: not as shitty as you might assume. can shred through tanks if he can aim, and graviton dragonstrike is one of my favourite combos because it can’t be countered like a gravnoon/barrage. (predictably, one of my other fave combos is gravblade). doesn’t really have mobility so if the enemy team’s countering with winston, might get a little fucked over if the team can’t deal with the counter.

junkrat: can’t say much on him either, but zarya can get pretty easy charge off of him, and d.va can eat his bombs. the trap won’t help a TON against the tanks, because you can’t trap/mine combo for an instakill unless they’re low. too often, his ult feels like tissue paper (speaking as somebody who plays with/against him more than playing him, though) with its 100 hp. the dmg isn’t too bad, but again, zarya can bubble and it might not even be a killing blow if detonated on tanks.

mei: not great against the shields. yeah she’s a hog counter, but to get to him, you’ll probably have at least a rein/zarya shield to contend with. rarely does enough dps to swap for a tank/s76 if you’re playing meta, though.

torb: his armour + symm’s shield gen = hellfire. but like w/ bastion, being able to run torb depends on the same factors. still, if the enemy team can’t handle his turret, it’s like another player (and a strong tank if he ults). better on defence, of course.

widow: kind of like hanzo above but shittier because she can’t really get on the point to contest effectively and she doesn’t have a dps ult. even if she’s good, she has to be very very good to take a tank/s76′s slot, because her team is fighting 5v6 unless she can get a pick or just do a lot of dmg.

symm: hoo boy. good with torb’s armour, but the utility of her tp/shield gen alone must not be ignored. even the photon barrier can be good. the turrets are great for letting her know when enemies are taking a certain route, and this can be very effective in an organized team because you can just tell your teammates where the enemies currently are. and her fucking beam isn’t called a microwave as a joke (well i guess it kind of is a joke). it’s instalock and very high dps. do not underestimate a defence symm. not always a justifiable pick, but in this meta, she’s a lot more reliable than the majority of the other dpses because she has high dps AND excellent utility/support. photon barrier can be helpful with good timing or when tossed a teamfight.
