Klaroline WIP Wednesday: Those Violent Eyes Ch5
(Klaroline peeps please tell me if I'm doing this wrong, it's my first time trying WIP Wed)
TW: Very brief mentions of past SA
He muses out loud, more so to himself than Stefan, “We could imprison him? I happen to have some options beneath the manor that should do nicely for now.”
“Imprison him until when? He’s obsessed with Katherine, he won’t just give up on the idea.”
Klaus waves a hand, “Until it’s appropriate to kill him.” He says flippantly. “Weeks, decades, centuries, who knows?” He shoots Stefan a pointed look, then, “Your brother’s days are numbered, ripper. He lives because I allow him to, but I will tire of that eventually.”
Comprehension dawns on Stefan’s face, and the hybrid realizes he’s given too much away. “Because of Caroline. You’re keeping him alive until she gives you permission to kill him.” It’s not entirely the truth, but too close for comfort, regardless. Stefan smiles then, tone friendly, “You like her.”
He’s brought back to his upbringing, and Mikael’s wicked glee whenever he’d find a weakness in his least favorite son. His ‘father’ could poke at anything that touched a nerve until the words hurt almost as much as the blows, all without ever losing that hint of sadistic pleasure that came with causing his distress.
Klaus won’t allow Caroline to be poked at.
“Your brother is a rapist.” He says slowly, “I don’t have to like her to want him dead.”
Stefan only smiles wider, eyes sparkling in amusement. “No, but you’d have to at least respect her to wait for her permission to kill him.”
He raises an eyebrow at that, “Your bar for what constitutes as respect is pitifully low.”
The ripper shrugs, allowing him to relax slightly (though he suspects they will be revisiting this conversation at a later date). “Maybe. Anyway, we can imprison Damon until you kill him, but that might raise some questions. He’s friends with the town Sheriff, they have lunch together every week.” He pauses, noting the scowl on Klaus’s face with a healthy degree of trepidation, “If he goes missing, she’ll catch on.”
Klaus Mikaelson is not a good man. He will be the first to admit that. Not with pride, but not with shame either. It’s an intrinsic truth, one his mother knew long before he did, one that he stopped trying to outrun the day his Wolf was bound. Klaus is objectively a terrible person, a questionable brother, and a monster among monsters. He murdered his own mother, for crying out loud. But the very thought of befriending a woman like the sheriff, laughing with her while committing unspeakable crimes towards her beloved daughter in the shadows? Pretending to be her ally, while you destroy the one person most dear to her on this earth, and ensure she’s none the wiser? All for no apparent benefit, aside from blood and your own twisted amusement?
Klaus is not a good man. But there exist evils he isn’t capable of.
Something snaps inside of him, dark and foreboding. “You wouldn’t happen to mean Sheriff Elizabeth Forbes, would you?” At Stefan’s answering nod, he feels a startling clarity wash over him. There’s no seeing red, no fiery hatred, no bloodlust. Instead, he feels swept underwater, awash with a bone-deep chill the likes of which he hasn’t felt since his last winter as a human. Idly, he wonders if this icy, detached thirst for vengeance weaving its way through him is what Elijah feels on a daily basis. He’s always been the hot-headed, mercurial one of his siblings, and he prefers it that way, but perhaps there’s something to be said about this cold, calculating fury. “Change of plans, then. I have a much better idea.” He unlocks his phone again, scrolling to another contact, “You might want to book a hotel for tonight, preferably under a different name”, he says, typing away. Stefan says something in response, but the sound is garbled and far away as he hits send.

So I'm well aware this is probably a case of "it isn't that deep" but I love looking at all the fiddly little accessories and bits and bobs of Hoyo designs and trying to justify them. Sampo's is particularly funny, because. What even is all that dkkxjdkd
His outfit has so many straps wrapped around him, like they're restraining or holding something in to keep it from bursting at the seams, and not all of them look like they're even connected to anything! But I'd like to think they are useful in certain situations, like if Sampo takes a hit out in the Fragmentum from one of the monsters.
He's hurt, his arm is bleeding, but he is ALMOST done, he just needs a couple more things to fulfill his quota to Natasha and he doesn't want to turn around and go back now. So Sampo frees a strap from his shirt, winds it around his arm above the cut, pulls it tight with his free hand and his teeth. He'll treat it properly in a minute, once he's done scavenging.
There's also the strange chains that resemble snake spines. Given how they're way longer in his splash art and the way they wind around-
I'd like to think they can extend somehow, and Sampo can use them to scale heights. Firefly clocks him as a covert fighter without even being within 20 feet of him, so it would make sense for Sampo to have ways to get around that don't involve usual/obvious methods, like stairs. Think assassin skill sets.
He's also the only one known to be able to get between the Underground and the overworld, and while he's pretty tight-lipped about his method, having some sort of device to help traverse vertical heights is probably insanely helpful there.
And the little metal ornaments across the backs of his wrists! You can see it a bit better in his reference sheet (everyone say thanks @/dragaliareferencearchive!) as opposed to his splash art-
they aren't flat, they stick up a bit off his arms. And so I wonder if Gepard has ever gone to arrest Sampo, and found that they interfere with his handcuffs haha
The ornaments don't match, the one on his right wrist is actually shorter and doesn't extend down to the back of his hand. Which probably doesn't make it nearly as annoying for handcuffs as the left one, but it would make sense for Sampo to have them like that, since he seems to be right-handed! I think a certain proficiency in being ambidextrous is necessary to dual wield daggers like he does, but. Sampo uses his right hand to
hold his blade in his splash art
throw his blade in his skill
play/show off with his dagger in his idle
lob smoke bombs in his technique
cross over his heart when he bows
and to flip his bangs during the cutscene where he saves the trailblazers from Bronya
So a shorter guard on his right hand would help him keep his wrist's flexibility to be able to do all that unimpeded (loving the thought now that Sampo is naturally right-handed and still better with it, but he practiced constantly with his left until he could do things passably ambidextrous).
I also love them because I wonder if they're in the perfect place to help block a hit, along with the chain wrapped around his left forearm.
Like I love the image of a hired killer soundlessly sneaking up behind Sampo in some shady dark alley, knife sloooooowly raising, and then all at once, they strike!
And instead of feeling the blade sink into his back, they get the unpleasant resonating of metal-on-metal shivering up their arm and rattling their bones, because Sampo has turned around at the last second and raised his crossed his arms to let the knife glance off the guards on his wrists.
And the mercenary is left to realize that oh, they are fucked.

What would bb!Tigerstar think of Shadowsight? Would he attempt to gain a hold on him like Ashfur did and use him, especially since he's 'kin,'?
Tigerstar refused to even associate with Jaypaw in spite of the anger that would have been very easy to exploit. He hates people with disabilities, especially in his "great bloodline."
He wouldn't want to admit that Shadowsight is kin. He'd sort of dance around it, he's diplomatic enough to not say DIRECTLY that his grand plan for the forest would dissappear him quietly... But, Shadowsight is not part of his grand vision, either.
It's more likely he would target Lightleap and try to find any resentment she has for her brother. But, thankfully, he is double-dead and only exists now in gorey nursery rhymes, where he belongs.

Klaroline WIP Wednesday: Those Violent Eyes Ch6
This chapter will drop later today, but I thought I'd do a sneak peek for WIP Wednesday. Enjoy!
“Why do you care so much about this pageant shit, anyway?”
She goes to run her fingers through her hair – a nervous habit she’s never quite been able to kick – but stops halfway when she remembers how much time it took to get it looking the way she wanted. “I guess I just want the acknowledgement, you know?” she sighs, “I mean, I do so
much for this town, for everyone really, and sometimes it feels like I don’t even exist. Like no one sees me. Especially after the whole Damon thing. I mean, I was literally being mind-controlled by a creepy older ‘boyfriend’ and no one even noticed anything was wrong! And I know I was compelled not to say anything if someone asked, but so few people actually did, even though I do so much community-facing work… I don’t know, it just makes me feel like, if I left town tomorrow, like just completely disappeared, would anyone even remember I was here? And then with Miss Mystic it’s like, a big portion of it is how much community work you do, plus the library keeps record of every Miss Mystic since the town’s founding and it’s just… if I get it, it would mean that people actually notice me. They see what I do, and they appreciate it, and even if I die, or disappear, my name will still be in the town’s history books as someone who did something.” She takes a breath, realizing she’s been rambling, and lets out a laugh, “I know that’s a lot to think about some stupid beauty pageant but-”
“-It’s not.” Bonnie says firmly. “It’s not stupid. It actually makes a lot of sense. You deserve to
win. But for the record, even if you don’t, this town isn’t going to forget you, Caroline Forbes. I won’t let them.”
She starts the car, and they spend the rest of the drive singing along to the radio like it’s the last day of summer vacation.

Would Cannibal get along with Arrax if they met in the Carrion timeline?
Well, I did have a crack fic floating somewhere in my notes from January about Cannibal getting flung back in time to baby Luke and his tiny dragon, but as things stand…
In all fairness, there’s probably a lot to be said for Arrax in the Cannibal’s books. Undeniably flawless taste in humans straight from the egg when those schmucks Silverwing and Vermithor didn’t snatch Luke up when they had the chance. Blasted Vhagar right in the face when he had the chance, so pretty much a dragon after the Cannibal’s own heart right there.
Like, if they’d met, he’d eat Arrax as soon as Luke’s back was turned, because he’s not tolerating any competition for his headscritches. But with respect, you know?
