Gonna request for Alpha!Emo!Wanda w Omega!reader bc I found it so cute the anons request-💕💕💕💕💕
After reader's second heat (that both of them spent together as a mated pair), after that, Wanda starts to act very possessive over reader she starts to growl and snarl at every alpha at the compound and is willing to fight anyone that gets a little too close, scent marks reader and this really sets reader off guard because wands never acted like this and whenever they're cuddling Wanda sets her head in reader's belly, this goes for a while until r starts being sick every morning and her scent changes to something more sweet and milky Wanda's absolutely smooths reader with cuddle,praises and kisses only to reader realize that she may carrying wands pup's
The ending u decide bc I'm out of creativity 😭😭🤚
warnings: omegaverse, pregnancy, possessive behavior
Your girlfriend has always been a more relaxed alpha. Of course, Wanda hated a family and at least two pups of her own, but she wasn't going to push. That time would come when it wanted to. Just being with you was enough. Wanda knew you were loyal and never worried about you leaving her. She has claimed you and you had claimed her, that was all she needed. So you were very confused when Wanda had suddenly become overprotective.
The team, you included, had brushed it off at first. Wanda had just gotten out of her rut and all alphas had behavior problems after that. Then it started to interfere with work. Wanda always had to be near you. If you sat too far from her in meetings, she'd pull your chair closer. You'd have a maximum of thirty minutes before Wanda would come stomping into your office and demanding you return to her room. The worst of it was her habit of picking fights with nearly every alpha that worked in the compound. There were a number of reasons for an alpha to become so snappy, so all you could do was watch.
It was a lot easier than you thought since Wanda resorted to simply following you around like a lost puppy.
Though it was your night to cook for everyone, Wanda had completely taken over. All you could do was prep the table and occasionally hand off some ingredients. "Damn it, who keeps putting the bread so high up?" You stood on the tips of your toes but nothing couldn't reach it.
"Let me get that for you. Some of us just toss stuff up here without much thinking." Thor reached the top of the fridge and handed you the bread. "It's a real shame. You do the most cooking out of anyone here." He firmly patted your shoulder only to immediately put his hands up in defense."Wow, you may wanna check your mate over there."
Your brows furrowed as you turned around to see Wanda giving Thor the meanest stare she could muster. A sigh fell from your lips. "Thank you, Thor. I'll talk to her." You walked over to Wanda and wrapped your arms around her waist. "What's the matter? You've been so cranky lately." Releasing your scent relaxed her a bit, but she was still very tense.
Wanda grumbled but didn't take her eyes off the pan. Truth was, she didn't know what was wrong. One moment, she was fine. Then suddenly, she'd be angry at the mere thought of other people seeing you. Her growling and snarling at other teammates was entirely subconscious. "I…honestly don't know. I thought it was just because of our cycle but that's clearly not an excuse anymore." Everyday she'd wake up and her brain was plagued with terrifying and baseless hypotheticals. Was it safe for you to go on a mission? Could the others be trusted when sparring with you? Why were you anywhere else but your nest?
It wasn't the answer you were hoping for. "That's okay, I'm always here for you. We'll figure it out together." You kissed the back of her neck and pulled her close. "Now can you move from the stove? Everyone likes their burgers differently."
Wanda huffed but stepped away so you could take over. "Fine, just let me do the dishes or something. I don't want you on your feet too long."
✦✦✦✦✦✦✦✦
Unfortunately, Wanda's possessive behavior only got worse and no one could figure out why. To make matters worse, you were plagued with all sorts of weird symptoms. The smell of anything would make you sick, your back hurt all the time, and you'd wake nauseous.
"I don't know, Bruce. Wanda's already freaking out. If she finds out I'm sick, she'll flip out." You spent the better part of your morning hooked up to monitors and taking tests. "If there is something wrong with me, just keep it between us." Your nervous scent had filled the room, but it was off. Your scent used to be dewy and floral. Fresh cinnamon and wet roses had suddenly become milk and strawberries. "Has Pepper been around here lately? I didn't think scents lingered this long."
Bruce frowned as he looked over the screens in front of her. "No, it didn't smell like this until you came in.." No matter how many tests he ran, nothing seemed abnormal. No spikes in blood pressure or viruses. Everything was normal. For a moment he was just stumped. Then it dawned on him. "Have you and Wanda…fiddled recently?" A sigh of relief fell from his mouth when you nodded. "That's what it is. You're pregnant!"
Everything stopped for a moment. The fears in your head kept turning. After being subject to so much chemical testing, you had given up on your fertility. But everything made sense. The idea warmed your heart, but you were nervous. "I- we have to go buy a test! Now, come on."
Bruce never expected to be forced into a disguise and dragged to a corner store to buy a pregnancy for one of his beloved teammates, but there was a first time for everything. After the tensest train ride and an awkward 30 minute stand outside of a bodega bathroom, Bruce's theory was confirmed. You were pregnant. "Well, what do you wanna do? Are you gonna tell her?"
You quickly dropped the test inside the plastic ziplock bag and shoved it in your hoodie pocket. "Yes, but I wanna surprise her." Despite your answer, you were so excited. The entire way back to the tower you thought over everything. Names, where you would move, and what their nursery would look like. You'd been so lost in thought, you didn't even notice you had returned home.
"Oh, baby there you are! Where have you been?"
"I'm pregnant," You said without hesitation as you pulled out the test.
"Surprise," Bruce said flatly as he raised his hands.
Wanda nearly exploded. "Oh my god, no way!" She dropped what she was doing and immediately ran to hug you. "I'm gonna be a mom and Pietro's gonna be an uncle!" It was the most childlike excitement anyone had seen Wanda express. She practically threw you up in the air with how face she picked you up. "Oh, we have to go remake your nest and- and buy a crib and- do everything!"
You sprinkled kisses all over Wanda's face. "Hey, hey relax. We got nine months to do all that stuff. Just relax."

Clint’s Birthday (Clint Barton x Reader)
Y’all, this literally took so long for me to figure out, and then with me being back to school and everything, I didn’t even have time to try. But, today, after I had two different math tests, I mustered enough brain cells not to ask for another fic by wonderful writers, but to finish the one I started immediately after posting Tony’s Birthday.
Warnings: Mentions of pregnancy, reader is Clint’s wife, canon until after AoU bc there was no need for CA:CW, reader has long enough hair that she puts it up while fighting (could just be a clip or a short pony tail depending on the length of your hair), mentions of a miscarriage being a potential outcome to the pregnancy, Clint asks if they’re going to keep the baby, Vision not having a filter, and probably more but I don’t think anything should need a trigger warning or something to that effect.
I’m gonna say it again though, reader is Clint’s wife, and she is pregnant, there are mentions of possibly losing the baby with as early as they are in the pregnancy, and Clint does ask if they’re going to keep the baby. If any of these topics are triggering to you, do not read this.
Word Count: 3266
Summary: While dealing with the major threat that Thanos has become, what will you do when you find out that you’re pregnant? What will happen when the Avengers find out?
Married to Clint Barton, archer extraordinaire for the last 7 years brought a lot of dumb shit your way. As an agent of SHIELD yourself, you met Clint when Fury paired you up for your first mission together. Take down an assassin in Budapest. Obviously, you took a different route and brought Natasha to Fury, having her join SHIELD with the both of you. That mission you met your best friend, and your soon to be boyfriend.
You had met Thor when he came to Earth, as well as Tony Stark when Natasha was working for him, but you had your own mission, helping Captain America adjust to the world. This had made Clint extremely, yet understandably, jealous since you were teaching the Captain America about everything he had missed while being frozen for 70 years. And while you could admit that Steve was an attractive man, you loved Clint so much that you didn’t know how to breathe without him some days. Steve was more like an older brother to you anyways, and he was always willing to protect you, including the first time he had met Clint. That was one hell of a shitshow, but at least it had a happy ending.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clint came up behind you, covering your eyes with his hands while you were signing off on something for one of the lower level agents. “Guess who?” He asked lowly.
“Get your hands off Y/N, Agent.” Steve boomed, walking over to the both of you.
“Off my girlfriend, I think not, Captain Rogers.” Clint retorted, sliding his hands down to your shoulders.
Steve looked at you, “Is he lying to me, Y/N?”
“No, Stevie. This is my boyfriend, Agent Clint Barton. I would’ve introduced you earlier but he’s been on a mission in New Mexico. He’s only back now because Loki’s.. Loki.” You said, pulling Clint’s hands down to your waist as he rested his head on your shoulder.
“Sorry, Agent Barton.” Steve apologized sheepishly. “I shouldn’t have assumed so quickly. Y/N’s just had a lot of male attention recently.”
“You’ve what?” Clint asked, tightening his grip on you slightly.
You wiggled, turning in his arms. “It’s really not that big of a deal, some of the newer agents have been hitting on me as either I walk by or they do. I’m handling it, and everything is under control, honey.”
“Marry me.” He said, kissing your nose.
“What?”
“Marry me, and we’ll put a ring on your finger and you’ll never have to worry about it again. Nat has the ring, and I was gonna take you on a date and ask you, but please N/N?”
You smiled and leaned in to kiss him. “Of course I’ll marry you, Robin Hood.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two of you were married just hours after Thor took Loki back to Asgard. You were also an Avenger, as Fury knew you and Clint worked quite well together in the field, especially after that first mission. Additionally, your banter through the comms was quite amusing and everyone on duty always got quite the kick out of it. Including the fact that you almost always had a dry comment to respond to Tony with.
After Ultron, you and Clint had essentially adopted Wanda and helped her properly grieve the loss of Pietro. That included getting her a therapist and working on her powers with her. While her emotions did still affect her powers, she wasn’t controlled by them anymore. And since Tony turned JARVIS into that Vision.. dude.. FRIDAY was the new AI around the compound and Wanda had fallen madly in love with Vision. An AI. Yeah, it’s weird, but you and Clint did the best you could with her.
Since you had managed to talk Tony out of the Sokovia Accords, the Avengers splitting never happened and Steve had even gotten Bucky back, on the basis that he also went to therapy due to the amount of trauma he had gotten working for HYDRA for 70 some odd years while being brainwashed. You were catching Bucky up with the times and pop culture the same way you had done Steve. Honestly, you held movie nights with the both of them and sent them songs you thought they would like, starting back with the 30’s and 40’s music they were used to and slowly working them up to the music of today.
And while you knew Thor and Loki were still going through some things, as was Bruce, since none of you had seen him since the battle with Ultron, you knew something big was happening, you could feel it coming. You had always had a sort of sixth sense about these things, even knowing when one of your coworkers was pregnant before they had said anything, and unfortunately knowing when someone close to you was gonna die. Fortunately, the last time you had seen Thor, you introduced him to phones, and now could call and text both him and Loki whenever you wished. Ah, technology.
“Loki?” You asked, having picked up your phone. “What’s going on?”
“Thanos is coming.” He said. “We’re bringing our people to Earth to keep them safe. Surtur has destroyed Asgard, but we had to do it to keep it out of Hela’s hands. And get as many of the Infinity Stones as you can and destroy them.”
“Woah, Loki. You gotta slow down.” You told him, downing your coffee like a shot. “What’s going on? Who’s Thanos? Who’s Surtur? How has Asgard been destroyed? Where the fuck are we housing all these Asgardian people? Who the fuck is Hela? Also, what the fuck is an Infinity Stone? And how would we destroy them?”
He took a deep breath. “I’ll explain everything when we get here, but Y/N, please know that Earth is in grave danger.” And then Loki hung up on you.
“Oh great. More people. I gotta make some calls.” You said, sighing and dialing the number for Maria Rambeau. “Maria, where the fuck is Carol at? I need the Guardians of the Galaxy. I have questions.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the middle of all of this, since the Guardians were on their way to where they knew one was hiding, hoping to get there before Thanos, you realized that the sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach hadn’t gone away. But now you felt nauseous on top of it. So, you decided maybe you’d go see Doctor Cho, maybe she’d have an answer for you.
“Oh there’s an answer, all right.” Doctor Cho said, chuckling at the results.
“What? Am I dying? I can’t leave Clint! He’d kill Tony!”
“You’re not dying, Mrs. Barton. You’re 5 weeks pregnant.”
You were completely shocked. “I’m pregnant?” You asked, not believing the words coming out of your mouth.
“Yup.” Helen told you, handing you the results. “Which explains the nausea and your sixth sense, although not the impending sense of doom. But you are an Avenger, so that’s understandable.”
“How am I gonna tell Clint? How do I save the world? Should I even tell him? What if I lose the baby?” You were thoroughly freaking out.
“Y/N, you’re going to be fine. Everything will work out.” Helen told you, resting a hand on your knee to help ground you through your spiraling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unfortunately, you had believed her, because the next thing you knew, there were 3 infinity stones in the Compound, 2 on the way, with one having been destroyed in the explosion of Asgard. The space stone was in the Tesseract, and Loki had the foresight not to grab it when he was putting Surtur’s crown into the Eternal Flame. Dr. Strange had the time stone in the eye necklace thingy that he kept around his neck, the mind stone was in Vision’s head after Tony had removed it from Loki’s scepter and Ultron had started to make Vision. On the way to Earth, the Asgardians had stopped to grab the reality stone from Knowhere, and the Guardians were on their way with the power stone they had kept from destroying Ronan the Accuser, and the soul stone they were picking up from the place that not even Thanos knows about. Surely, he knows the planet exists, but he doesn’t know what’s hiding there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Okay, we’re here!” Peter Quill said, running in with the others. “Sorry we’re late. ‘You must give up a soul to receive a soul’ and nobody could decide.”
You looked around at all the Guardians, “But nobody’s missing?”
“I am Groot.” Groot said sadly.
Rocket patted him on the head softly. “I know, buddy. Groot threw his video game system over the edge of the cliff to sacrifice for the stone, and now he can’t ever play one again.”
“It may work a little differently this time, being that these were the first 6 pieces of the universe, but I believe there may be a way to overcome this, once we beat Thanos, of course.” Wanda said, making a small red orb appear in the palm of her hand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It wasn’t until hitting it with Bucky’s left arm made a crack in one of the stones that you all realized you needed vibranium to break them. “Strongest metal on Earth.” Tony said, calling King T’Challa.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two hours later, you were all flying into Wakanda for Shuri’s help, knowing that if she could fix Bucky’s HYDRA-scrambled brain, she could fix anything. “Where is the mind stone?” She asked, scurrying around her lab, trying to figure out how to properly destroy the building blocks of the universe.
Vision stepped forward. “In my head.”
“Oh good God.” Shuri said, lining the stones up. “I’ll need to extract it to destroy it. But I will find a way to keep him alive. Anyone with eyes can see how in love the two of you are.” She told Wanda, already muttering something you didn’t understand about microchips and him being part Ultron as well as Tony and Bruce.
As Shuri began extracting the mind stone from Vision’s head, just a few minutes later, aliens beamed down from the sky, presumably Thanos’ minions. They all started clawing at the barrier, humanoid or not, which the vast majority were not.
“Um, Your Majesty? Steve?” You asked, staring out the window in shock. “We might have a problem.”
Clint came up behind you and wrapped you in a hug. “We’ve got this, hun. Let’s go kick some alien ass. Again. For the millionth time in the last 10 years.”
“Second time in 6 years, my love. But I see your point.” You said, slipping into a side room to change into your suit and pull your hair out of your face. “Okay, Y/N,” you muttered to yourself softly, looking in the mirror, “No injuries this time. And once this is all said and done, we’ll tell Clint.”
Walking out of the room, Steve pulled you aside. “What aren’t you telling Clint until after the fight?”
“That’s not for you to know yet, Steve. You’ll find out when the time is right.”
He raised an eyebrow at you. “I can hear the second heartbeat.” You went to open your mouth to make a smart-ass retort, but you bolted into the nearest bathroom and emptied the contents of your stomach into the toilet.
“Don’t tell anyone. And don’t let Bucky say anything either. And I mean nobody, Steven.” Were the three sentences you said before wiping your mouth, flushing, chewing a mint, and getting ready to join the fight.
“Are you sure-”
“Yes. You’re not stopping me, Steve. I know my limits.”
~~~~~~~~~(Time skip because I cannot properly write a fight scene)~~~~~~~~
After the battle was all said and done, nobody died. Except Thanos and all of his minions. Nebula was safe and free from his abuse, Thanos never laid a hand on any of the Infinity Stones, even though he had the gauntlet, and Vision had a computer sourcing his power now instead of the mind stone. He’d have to charge up about once every other day, but Tony was already installing a charger into his side of the bed, so he could charge every time he laid down, and would magically never overcharge.
Clint had almost died, and you gave him hell for it, although he had given you hell right back for taking a knife through one arm and being slashed across the other. You were both going to be scarred pretty badly over this fight, like most of the other Avengers and fights, both mentally and physically. Plus, by the time the fight was over and you were all cleared to go back home, it was Clint’s birthday.
“Happy birthday, honey.” You said, curling further into his chest and drawing circles on it with your finger.
“Thank you, sweetheart. But you know what would make it even better?” He asked, and you didn’t even have to be looking at his face to know that he had just wiggled his eyebrows at you.
You chuckled, rolling your eyes. “We almost died today and you want sex?”
“What can I say, sweetheart? You make me insatiable.”
“Not now, I don’t think. I’m not feeling so great.”
He rolled you off him and propped himself up above you. “Is it your arm? The meds? Is something wrong?”
All you could do was stare at your husband with the biggest heart eyes in the world as you shook your head. “No, well, maybe. Don’t be mad.”
“Did you lie about your symptoms again?”
“That was you.”
“Was it?”
“Yeah. Because you don’t like how loopy you get on sedatives.”
“Oh, right.” He said, rubbing his hand soothingly up and down your thigh. “Well, honey, whatever it is you need to tell me, you know I’ll always be by your side.”
You took a deep breath, looking anywhere but Clint’s eyes. You focused on one of the freckles on his bicep, actually. “How do you feel about being a dad?”
“We’ve talked about this before, honey. Y/N, you know I’ve always wanted to start a family with you.” You looked up at him and saw the same heart eyes looking at you that you had directed at him moments before. You raised your eyebrows a little and gave Clint a little half-smile.
“Clint,” You started, bumping your nose against his softly. “I’m pregnant.”
“I’m actually gonna be a dad?” He asked, a smile growing wider on his face in realization.
You nodded, a smile starting on your face too. “Yeah. You’re gonna be a dad, sweetheart.”
“How far along are you? When did you find out? Have you been doing okay?”
“I found out 2 days ago, and Helen said I’m 5 weeks along. I’ve only puked a few times, but I’ve been nauseous a lot.”
“You found out before we went and fought aliens?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
You nodded again. “Yes. And you said you wouldn’t be mad no matter what I told you.”
He smiled down at you again before flopping back down onto the bed next to you. “Does anyone else know other than Helen?”
You curled back into his chest. “Steve and Bucky can hear the baby’s heartbeat. Steve asked me if I was sure I should fight when he confronted me. But I know my limits.”
“I know you do, baby, but it’s not just you anymore.” Clint said, wrapping his arm around you and pulling you closer into him. “We are keeping it, right?”
“I was going to, and I had assumed that you wanted to. You do? Right?” You asked, mindlessly drawing shapes on his chest with your finger again.
“Oh baby girl, of course I want it. This baby is going to be very loved, by both of us and all the Avengers. He said, kissing the top of your head. “Are we gonna tell people?”
“You’re not really supposed to before 12 weeks, since that’s the most likely time to have a miscarriage. The pregnancy is more stable after that and the chance of losing the baby is less.”
“Okay. We can do that. We’re assassins, we can keep a secret for 7 weeks.”
You paused your movements. “Clint, I can’t drink coffee.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two of you kept it a secret for another 7 hours. Even after swearing FRIDAY to secrecy. To be fair though, it was Vision’s fault.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You had just walked into the kitchen, tired and ready for a cup of coffee when you remembered that you couldn’t have any. So you steered yourself towards the compound fridge, internally groaning, and poured yourself a nice tall glass of cranberry juice to have with your breakfast, not noticing everybody but Steve and Bucky staring at you with their mouths agape.
“Uh, Y/N?” Tony asked. “Wouldn’t you rather coffee? Like every other morning you’ve ever lived here?”
You shrugged. “I’ve loved cranberry juice since I was a kid, nothing wrong with having it for breakfast.”
“Plus, Mrs. Barton, caffeine is highly unrecommended for when you’re pregnant since it can do significant harm to the fetus.” Vision said, sipping at his tea after doing a quick scan of you.
“I- what did you say?” You asked, gripping Clint’s hand under the counter for support.
He turned to look at you. “Did you not know? I had assumed that since you were not drinking your usual coffee, you were already aware of the unborn child growing in your uterus.”
“I- I- Clint?”
“Next thing we program him to do is keep a goddamn secret.” He said, pulling you into a hug and kissing the top of your head. “Yes, we know. Yes, Y/N’s pregnant. Close your fucking mouths before you catch flies.”
You smiled softly as the realization of what Clint said set into everyone’s head. “And Vision, you’ll also find that people aren’t supposed to know until after the 12 week mark when the pregnancy is more stable.”
“You are right, Mrs. Barton. I’m very sorry, both of you, I should’ve let you announce the news when you were ready. I will keep that in mind for the next addition to our family.”
As the news finally flipped a switch, Natasha and Wanda ran over to you squealing and asking questions; Tony, Bruce, Vision, and FRIDAY were figuring out how to add a baby’s room into yours and Clint’s apartment in the Compound; and Steve and Bucky were looking at you and Clint like proud uncles. This was when Sam walked in, not knowing what had just happened, or why there was so much squealing from two very serious, very powerful women.
“What in the goddamn universe is going on in here?!” He asked, looking around for answers.
“Clint and I are having a baby.” You said, trying to keep the smile off your face as Sam’s jaw dropped.
“You fought aliens while pregnant?!?!” He exclaimed, coming over to you to double check that he had heard this right.
You nodded, “I did, yes. And both Baby Barton and I are fine, thanks for asking.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since nothing had actually been accomplished that day except for Tony already planning the addition of the baby’s room, you and Clint had lots of time to look around at your friends family and realize that this kid was going to be the most loved, spoiled kid (thanks, Tony) on the face of the planet.
“This kid might actually turn out okay.” You told Clint softly, watching the Avengers argue over decide what order they were going to hold Baby Barton in once they arrived.
Setting up the tents
Even though Y/N and Eve were initially going to share a tent while they were at the campsite, they decided to take on of the tents the Avengers brought. They brought along 3 tents that would fit 4 people, so that was absolutely perfect for the group. At first it was a bit of a puzzle to figure out who would share a tent with who, but by the time that was figured out, it was time to set them up. And this came with their own set of problems.
''Why won't our tent stay up?'' ''Where is the tarp to go on the ground?'' ''No, leave that alone, otherwise we'll lose it!'' ''Ugh, these air mattresses are so hard to blow up!'' were just a few of the things exchanged, but after some bickering everyone managed to set up their tents. As soon as Y/N and Bucky saw their chance, they dove into their tent without being seen, so they could have some alone time, or so they hoped.
''Wait, where did Y/L/N and Barnes go?'' Steve asked, but before he could finish his question, Sam had already found them in their tent, limbs intertwined and enjoying a good make-out session. ''Found them, they're in their tent! Guys, could you at least wait until it was dark en we're going to sleep? This is just gross!'' he exclaimed. ''No Sam, no we could not.'' Y/N said cheekily and gave Bucky one last soft but passionate kiss before getting out of the tent, her neck littered with bruises where Bucky had been ravaging with his lips.
Building the campfire
''Okay, how about this, Thor, Loki, Sam, Bucky, Steve and Clint, you can go find wood for the campfire in the forest, and the rest of us will start unpacking for now? I think we have all the stuff we need to build the campfire here, except for the wood ofcourse.'' Y/N said, and they went right on their way. ''For you, always lady Y/N,'' Thor said, and it made her blush uncontrollably, she would never get used to his charm at this rate. It was like she was a little girl all over again, who could handle it when she got compliments. ''Watch it, Thor.'' Bucky said with a deep, grumpy voice and pointed look towards him.
As soon as the guys came back, they had basically picked half the forest with wood, which should be more than enough to last them through the entire week. ''So, who wants to do the honors of building it?'' Eve said, but no one said anything, since they weren't sure how to build a campfire, let alone get it started. Y/N rolled her eyes and said ''Looks like we're going to do everything around her ourself, babe'' to Eve, and the two of them started building the fire. ''Wait, did you just call her babe...?'' Bucky asked Y/N with a bit of a jealous tone laced in his voice.
''Uh, yeah, I guess I did. I don't even realize I do it, we're just so used to it. If you want me to stop I can do that, but I'd rather be building this campfire before someone freezes to death over here.'' Y/N said, with a smile towards him. ''No it's okay...'' he said with a low voice, he would for sure be asking more about this later, he wanted to be called babe by her, too, but he didn't want to admit it in front of everyone. ''AH, there is the fire!'' Eve and Y/N said at the same time, and they quickly backed away when the flames grew quickly.
S'mores
A campfire will never be complete without s'mores, drinks and friends. Luckily for all of them, there would not be a shortage of any of those these nights, since they brought enough chocolate, marshmallows, graham crackers and alcohol for an entire army, they definitely didn't want to run out before the end of the week. ''Wanna know a secret?'' Y/N whispered to Bucky, who was sitting right next to her. ''Sure.'' ''I've never had s'mores before actually.'' she whispered again.
''HOLD ON, you're saying you have never had the pleasure of tasting the most amazing treat in this world?!'' he repeated back in a loud voice, and everyone instantly went silent, making everyone look at Y/N and Bucky and she felt the crimson color appear on her cheeks and neck faster than she could say s'mores. ''Fuck, could you keep your voice down?!'' she hissed at him, feeling really embarrassed now. ''I'm sorry, but you will definitely have the honor of getting the first s'more of the evening now!'' he said.
Bucky roasted a marshmallow by the fire and placed it in between two graham crackers and some chocolate before giving it to her. ''First, a kiss. As a thank you.'' Bucky said teasing, and who was Y/N to deny him of that pleasure? So she planted a kiss on his lips, which he immediately deepened, much to the dismay of everyone else. ''Guys, get a tent or something, god...!'' Nat said, and they pulled away with big smiles. ''Thank you.'' you simply said and you grabbed the s'more from his hands.
''Oh my fucking god, HOW HAVE I BEEN MISSING OUT ON THIS?!'' Y/N said, and it was gone before anyone could even give an answer. ''Told you so!'' Bucky said with a wink.
Campfire games: Never have I ever
Something that can't possibly be missing from a campfire, is silly games to get to know each other better, or to embarrass each other. One of those games was played at this particular one, namely 'Never Have I Ever'. ''How does that work? I've never even heard of it...'' Bucky asked Y/N. ''Well, one person asks a question and you have to answer if you either have or haven't done it. Since we turn this into a drinking game, you will drink if you have done it, but you won't take a drink if you have not done it. It's that simple.'' she said and she grabbed his hand to reassure him it would all be okay.
Tony went straight for it and asked ''Never have I ever hooked up with someone in this group.'', knowing Y/N and himself would drink, seeing how they had a friends with benefits relationship for a few years. Steve and Natasha also drank to that, but the rest didn't. ''Oh, I see what happened there!'' you said teasing Steve, knowing the crush he had on Natasha. What the group didn't know is that they have been secretly dating for a few months, although Y/N had her suspicions since she got closer to Steve.
The rest of the questions were pretty simple. ''Never have I ever had a crush on someone I worked with'' ''Never have I ever embarrassed myself during a briefing or conference meeting'', but when it was Buckys turn, he was really curious about some of the sexual acts you had performed, knowing you were quite the adventurous type on that front. ''Never have I ever had sex in public.'' he said, and only Tony and Y/N drank to that, to which he couldn't believe his eyes. ''Wait.. you and.. really?'' he asked with furrowed brows.
''Well, yeah. We had a friends with benefits relationship for a few years, what did you expect?'' she said without missing a beat. Somehow, the fact that you were willing to have sex in public turned Bucky on, and he was suddenly really mad it wasn't just the two of them, otherwise he would have taken her right then and there. ''You never asked, when was I supposed to tell you?'' she said and shrugged her shoulders and took a sip of her drink. Everyone else couldn't believe what they heard, they didn't know she could talk so casual about her former sex life with Tony when he was sitting right there.
Singing by the fire
Ever since Y/N was young, she had a love for playing the acoustic guitar, and there is no better way to showcase this than with all her friends around the campfire. Tony had taken her guitar to Italy in the jet but didn't tell her, so when he went away to grab it, he just told everyone he had a surprise. ''Allright, it is all fun and games, but I think I have a better plan here. Just gonna grab something real quick and I'll be back.'' he said with a wink to Y/N. She was wondering what it could be, but all she could do was wait until he got back.
When he got back, he had swung her red guitar case around his shoulder, and as soon as Y/N saw the color, she knew it was her guitar, and she got really excited. ''Oh my god Tony, I can't believe you brought me my guitar! Thank you so much, I really missed playing it!'' she said and gave Tony a hug, after which she took the case from him. ''So, any requests for a campfire song?'' she said, and everyone yelled out different songs at the same time.
''Woah, not everyone at the same time please! How about I go first? I wonder how many of you will know this one.'' She started playing the first accords of the song ''Endlessly'' by Amaranthe, and immediately Buckys eyes locked with hers, it was their song, the one they danced to when she got back from the medbay after the ball. The shy redness crept up his cheeks, but he didn't mind, he was too in love to even care about it. Y/N sang the entire song, with Bucky humming along. After this, everyone gave their suggestions and she played every single one, singing along to all of them.
This turned out to be one of the most perfect evenings they ever had, singing songs with friends, s'mores, drinks and a whole lot of laughter. This was a night no one would ever forget, and everyone was grateful they got to share it with their closest friends.
Christmas With The Avengers
Tumblr media
Warnings: Christmas, family time, self indulgent
A/n: this one has been in my docs for years waiting for a time and place to post it, it’s very self indulgent because this is some thing my family would do when I was a kid. Enjoy
********
It was Christmas Eve! You were with the rest of the Avengers, decorating the compound's living room area. Tony had gone out and bought the biggest freaking tree ever, and at the moment you were trying to figure out how to reach the very top of the tree.
“I could throw Nat up there?” Clint said.
“Like hell you are Barton.” she said while crossing her arms.
“I could use one of my iron man suits to reach the top” Tony said while walking towards the elevator leading to said suits.
“And risk you burning the entire tree down? No, it's not gonna happen.” Steve says making the Genius billionaire slump on the couch.
While the others began to argue about what to do, you slipped back with Pietro and Wanda.
“It's as though they have forgotten the fact that I can move things with my mind.” Wanda says with an eye roll.
“Well they're all still arguing so why don't you two finish the tree?” Pietro says while putting his hand on my shoulder.
Wanda and I share a look before we quietly grab ornaments as she lifts me in the air while you place them all over the top portion of the tree. You and Wanda were working like a well oiled machine, she would use her powers to send you up in the air since having electrical powers didn’t really help with decorating a tree. When you had finished and the only item left to put on the tree was the angel, you coughed to gain their attention but it fell on silent ears as they continued to argue.
“Alright guys!” you yelled while still in the air, “Who would like to do the honors of putting the angel on the tree?”
“You finished the tree?” Tony says while eyeing it closely.
“Yeah, Wanda and I finished because it seems that you've all forgotten that Wanda and I have powers?” I say with a smile.
“Well I think Stark should put the angel on the tree.” Steve says having his hand outstretched.
“I second that,” Bruce says with a gentle smile.
“Third,” I say.
“I think we all agree that's a great idea” Nat says while sipping her eggnog. After she says that a chorus of yeses is heard.
“Alright stark hang on” you say while lifting him gently in the air.
He gently places the Angel on top of the tree. I bring us down on the ground. We all stepped back and looked at the massive 40ft fern.
“Pietro, mind turning the Christmas lights on?” you say as he zooms by and the tree ignites in a beautiful array of colors.
“Wow.” was all you could say as Pietro came by your side.
“Yeah” he said.
*****
“Ok this should be the last batch!” you say while pulling the tray of freshly baked cookies out of the oven. Light of Christmas gently played softly on the radio in the kitchen.
“Alright so now we just wait until those are cooled until we take them off of the rack right, (y/n) and then we can decorate them?” Thor asked while he watched Bruce and Tony decorating cookies.
“Yes!” you say while going over to the slow cooker and checking on the Tamales that Natasha and Wanda along with yourself made earlier in the morning. Almost done, you say to yourself.
You use a cooling fan to cool the cookies quicker and move them to a wax paper covered tray.
“Alright Thor, you can decorate the cookies now if you’d like.” you say while placing more frosting over towards him. He sure did act like a child at times but it was cute. You looked over at all the done cookies, they were all beautifully done. Everyone decorated a dozen to their liking.
You grab your cup of eggnog and walk towards the long table and sit down and talk with loki.
“You’ve done an excellent job planning this celebration.” he says while munching on some cheese and crackers.
You blush “Thank you, i know if tony had planned it, he’d have made it some huge party, but that's not what christmas is about. It's about spending time with family and since you are all my family while my mom and sister are out of the country this time of year, I thought it would be nice to have some family time with y’all and show you and Thor all about this midgardian holiday,” you ramble while stealing a cracker from him.
“Yes, so the point of this holiday is waiting for a fat man in a red suit to break into your house and give you presents?” Loki says while looking at me through his wine glass.
You giggle “No well his name is Santa Claus, and he knows when you've been sleeping and he knows when you've been bad.” you say with a smirk.
My phone buzzes, you check and see that it's Pietro saying that he, Wanda, Bucky, and steve back with the ham and other wine. “Well if excuse me I have to get the door for others.”
“Where did Agent Barton and Romanoff go off too?” he asks me as you get up from my seat.
“Oh they went to pick up a few other guests” you say walking towards the door.
****
“(y/n), do you mind passing the tamales over here?” Bucky asks, while everyone passes food back and forth.
“This food is so delicious,” Fury says while swallowing his bite of tamale.
“Thanks, Nat, Wanda and I woke up pretty early to make them.” you say smiling. For the first time you looked around the table and smiled because this is your family.
“How's the Food everyone?” you ask.
“Delicious”
“Wonderful”
“Amazing”
“Superb”
“Perfect”
*****
“Alright! Time for presents!” You say while running to the closet and grabbing three presents. “Now I hope you like these” you say while handing a present to Lila and Cooper.
They both open them, Lila’s eyes widening as she sees a giant coloring book with a set of 150 colored pencils and Cooper messing with his new Nerf gun.
“Thank you Aunt (y/n)!” they say in unison and tackle you in hugs.
“You're very welcome kiddos,” you say with a smile.
“Thanks (y/n),” Laura says while holding up the custom onesie i got for Nathaniel saying “My Aunt is a Superhero how about yours”.
“Alright guys! Time for the gift exchange!” you say while sitting back on the couch in between Pietro and Wanda. “Who would like to go first?”
“Uh, I would like to go first,” Pietro said while reaching under the tree for a small black box. You look at him as he turns towards you. “Merry christmas (y/n)”
You take the box and open it to see a gorgeous sapphire pendant. “Pietro, you shouldn't have” you say gently.
“I know you’ve been eyeing it so I thought I might as well get it for you. Here let me put it on you.”
You hand him the necklace and move your hair to one side, the feeling of his fingers against your neck sends a chill down your spine. “I love it, thank you.”
You get up and grab your gift next. “Loki, I know how you always say how you're needing another book to add to your collection so I bought you this.” you say while handing him a brand new copy of ‘Of Mice and Men’
“Thank you very much.” he says with a kind smile.
“If you'll excuse me while I go and grab the cookies, you can continue.” you say while getting up from your seat. You feel a whoosh go past you and standing in the doorway of the kitchen is Pietro.
“I love this necklace so much, pietro, i don't know what to say.”
“Well you don't have to say anything, instead you can kiss me.” he says with a smirk on his lips.
You look at him “Uh what do you mean?”
He just simply points up and that's when you notice the mistletoe. Sneaky bastard. You walk towards him and give him a kiss on the cheek.
“Come on now (y/n), you know that's not what I mean-” he's cut off by your lips gently being placed on his.
You only break the kiss due to cheering in the background and a subtle Finally from Wanda.
BEST. CHRISTMAS. EVER
Chapter 85: Time to brainstorm
The next morning everyone gathered to start the first official brainstorming session of the time heist. Monitors showed all the information they already had on the stones ready for them to try and decide where to strike.
“Okay so the how works, now we gotta figure out the when and the where,” Steve says as he turns from the monitors towards the team “almost everyone in this room has had an encounter with at least one of the six infinity stones”
“or substitute the word ‘encounter’ for ‘damn near been killed’ by one of the six infinity stones” Tony interrupts, Steve humming quietly since he couldn’t argue with that.
“well I haven’t” Scott points out “but I don’t even know what the hell you’re all talking about” he admits with a shrug.
“Regardless we only have enough Pym particles for one round trip each and these stones have been in a lot of different places throughout history,” Bruce says as he walks around the conference room.
“our history” Tony corrects “so not a lot of convenient spots to just drop in yeah?”
“which means we have to pick our targets,” Clint says with a sigh.
“Correct” Tony nods taking a sip of his coffee.
“so let's start with the Aether,” Steve says before turning to Thor “Thor what do you know?”
Everyone else turns to face Thor who was sat in the corner of the room, a can of beer in one hand, shades covering his eyes. He remained completely motionless making the team glance around at each other.
“Is he asleep?” Nat questions.
“no, no I’m pretty sure he’s dead” Rhodey mutters.
Everyone glances back over at Steve, but despite the recent progress they’d made in rebuilding their friendship Steve didn’t think it was wise for him to wake him up. Especially since he didn’t know where Stormbreaker was.
“um, Rocket do you mind?” Steve asks nodding over to Thor.
“why me? he’s your brother-in-law” Rocket argues.
“because he’s less likely to accidentally kill you,” Nat reasons.
“yep, c’mon build-a-bear,” Tony says nudging Rocket over towards Thor.
“urgh, fine” Rocket grumbles as he walks over to Thor “hey Thor, wake up buddy” Rocket says lightly kicking Thor’s foot earning no response.
Rocket grumbles in annoyance before jumping up onto Thor’s lap and slapping him hard across the face “Wake up!” he shouts, Thor jumping in surprise.
“what the devil are you doing rabbit!” Thor sputters as he wakes up.
“We need you to tell us about the aether” Rocket says pointing over to the screen as he jumps off Thor’s lap.
Thor clears his throat readjusting his shades as he walks over to the screen “uh where to start? Um…” Thor says as pulls off his shades and tapped them against the screen “the aether, firstly is not a stone, someone called it a stone before” he starts pointing over to Steve with a small glare.
Steve frowns slightly since he thought Thor was just asleep, and not just ignoring him.
“um, it's more of an angry sludge sort of thing so someone’s gonna need to amend that” Thor explains as he drops a couple of eyedrops into his eye “here’s an interesting story though about the aether my grandfather many years ago had to hide the stone from the Dark Elves, ooh scary beings” Thor chuckled.
Steve glances around the room to see everyone had a similar expression to himself, one of complete confusion and slight despair as they listened to Thor rattle off information that actually wasn’t that useful. The only person who looked interested was Scott who was smiling and nodding along, hanging on to Thor’s every word.
“so Jane actually” Thor continues taping the screen until a picture of Jane appeared “oh there she is, yeah so Jane was an old flame of mine you know she stuck her hand inside a rock this one time and then the Aether stuck itself inside her and she became very very sick and so Y/N and I had to take her to Asgard which is where we’re from and we have to try and fix her, we were dating at the time you see, I got to introduce her to my mother,” Thor says before his face falls and Steve knew exactly where his mind had gone “who’s dead and um oh you know Jane and I aren’t even dating anymore so”
Steve glanced over to Bruce with a look that was asking him to try and stop Thor, he was getting too far off track and if he continued there was no way they’d get the information they needed.
“yes, these things happen though you know? Nothing lasts forever, the only thing that…” Thor continues ignoring Bruce’s signal to stop.
“why don’t you come sit down?” Tony says walking over, trying to gently guide Thor away.
“no I’m not done yet” Thor argues “the only thing that is permanent in life is impermanence” he finally finishes.
Tony claps his hands a couple of times “Awesome, eggs? Breakfast?” he offers.
Thor shakes his head “no, I’d like a bloody mary”
“right okay, um well go help yourself, everything you need is in the kitchen,” Tony says gently guiding Thor out of the room.
Once he was gone everyone let out a long sigh, Steve pinching the bridge of his nose, this was not starting off well.
“right well that was a bust” Tony mutters shaking his head “What about you Steve? did Y/N ever mention anything about the Aether?”
Steve sighs shaking his head “not much, that time was really hard for her to talk about, losing Loki and her mother” Steve sighs.
“well we know it was on Asgard for a short period of time and then where did it go?” Nat asks leaning back in her chair.
“the collector had it” Rocket answers “right up until Thanos got it”
“so the question is which is easier to break into?” Clint points out.
“definitely not the collector, he keeps everything very secure and it could take hours just to find it” Rocket says shaking his head.
“well Asgard it is then, Y/N’s phone went off the grid when she went there, Tony do you think you could find an exact date from that?” Steve asks turning to Tony.
“easy, would take 5 minutes tops,” Tony says shrugging his shoulders.
“right that’s one down, 5 to go” Steve sighs looking back at the screens.
Tumblr media
“right so we know Thanos had given Loki the sceptre to attack New York meaning there’s no chance of getting the stone before 2012,” Nat says as she reclines back, putting her feet up on the table.
“Exactly, the last thing we want is past Thanos working out what we’re doing” Rhodey points out.
“We know after New York, Strucker had it but we can’t say for certain it was in Sokovia all that time,” Tony says as he paces back and forth.
“and it was then used to create Vision, and there’s no way we can take it then” Steve sighs shaking his head, glancing over at Thor who’d just snorted in his sleep.
“that only leaves the battle of New York and there isn’t really a lot of good opportunities to grab it,” Clint says “I know Loki barely let it out of his sights”
Steve sighs in annoyance, this was proving much more difficult than he expected “I guess that means we could grab the tesseract at the same time, but even that’s going to be difficult”
“is there any other time we could get the cube?” Bruce asks “you had a lot of experience with it in the 40s”
“kind of” Steve sighs turning to face one of the screens “I never really got close to it, the Red Skull had been using it to create weapons of mass destruction”
“like the kind Strucker made?” Rhodey asks walking over to stand next to Steve.
“yeah, it took years for us to finally break into his base in an attempt to steal it, we nearly had him but he boarded a plane, I only just managed to climb on to stop him” Steve recalls, the time in his life before physically and figuratively a lifetime ago “I fought him, but he managed to get hold of the tesseract, but for whatever reason it caused him to burn up or something” Steve sighs rubbing his chin.
“and what happened to the tesseract after that?” Rhodey asks.
“it’s at the bottom of the ocean, it fell out of the plane just before I had to crash it” Steve sighs.
“yeah, I’ve been meaning to ask, why did you have to crash the plane anyway?” Rhodey asks frowning slightly as he pointed over at Steve.
Steve let out a deep sigh as he crossed his arms over his chest “there were bombs on board”
“bombs onboard” Rhodey mutters “and you couldn’t have jumped out of the plane before you crashed it?” he asks after a moment of silence.
Steve’s jaw instantly clenched, what Rhodey asked was a fair question, one Steve had even asked himself in the first couple of months after he’d woken up. Of course, there was a part of Steve that missed his old life, but if he had to do it all again he wouldn’t change a thing.
“well, all things considered, I think I made the right choice” Steve states his tone sharp as he turns away from Rhodey.
He sits down at the table with a heavy sigh pinching the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes as he took a couple of deep breaths. When he opened his eyes he spotted Nat and Clint giving him a sympathetic look, Nat mouthing ‘are you okay?’, to which Steve just nods his head.
“Why don’t we take a break we’ve been at this for hours” Tony suggests glancing around the room.
Upon hearing that Thor shot up from the couch he was napping on “yes, drink anyone?” Thor asks clapping his hands together, not even waiting for a response before sauntering out of the room.
“right okay, I have a good guess at what kind of drink he’s after but I’m gonna get a coffee,” Tony says pointing in the direction of the door.
Slowly everyone started filtering out of the room, but Steve remained sat in his seat staring up at the screens. He knew it wasn’t going to be easy to find the when and the where but he had been hoping they’d made more progress.
“hey you alright man?” Clint asks slapping Steve on the shoulder “don’t listen to what Rhodey said, he wasn’t trying to say you made the wrong choice”
Steve sighs nodding his head “no I know, guess I’m just a little defensive around Y/N and JJ” he says looking up at Clint.
Clint lets out a small huff of a laugh “of course, you’re a father” he says knowingly “are you gonna head home soon?”
Steve purses his lips in thought shrugging his shoulder “I dunno, I don’t like spending time away from JJ, we went out for ice cream yesterday because he said I hadn’t been around recently, but I want to get this done, the sooner we get everyone back the better”
Clint nods before clearing his throat “look Steve, if I had even just one of my kids around right now I’d be spending every moment I could with them, I want to bring everyone back as quickly as you do but kids grow up so fast, and you’ll regret not spending as much time as possible with them” he says.
Steve nods “thank you Clint, and we’ll get them back I promise,” he says standing up from his chair.
“I know, and look if it makes you feel better, we’ll work on the power stone tonight so you won’t really need to be with us to help” Clint offers.
“Thanks Clint, I appreciate it” Steve smiles “I’ll see you in the morning”
“see you in the morning, give JJ a hug for me,” Clint says as Steve grabs his jacket.
Tumblr media
After Steve had dropped JJ off at school he made his way back to the compound where he met with Nat, Nebula, Bruce, Scott, Clint and Rocket.
“hey did I miss much?” Steve asks as he walks over.
“not much, we figured we can only get the power stone from Morag, and Nebula was just about to tell us about the Soul stone,” Nat says looking over her shoulder at him from her spot on the couch.
“Great, well by all means carry on,” Steve says gesturing for Nebula to continue.
Nebula nods stiffly turning to glance at the screen before turning back to the group “The soul stone was the stone me and my sister were tasked with finding, I never did but Gamora discovered where it was” Nebula starts “she tried to keep it from him but couldn’t and Thanos found the soul stone on Vormir”
“what is Vormir?” Nat asks as she scribbles notes down on her pad.
“a dominion of death, at the very center of celestial existence,” Nebula says “it’s where Thanos murdered my sister”
A heavy silence falls in the room as the information sinks in, nobody really knowing what to say. Steve felt especially lost since he barely knew Nebula, when he glanced over at Rocket he saw he was equally lost and sad. Steve lets out a quick sigh as he bows his head, the weight of the room feeling heavy on his shoulder, not just from the grief but knowing that this was another stone that didn’t sound easy to get.
“not me” Scott muttered under his breath, voicing what everyone was thinking
“Is there any place else the stone has been?” Steve asks hopefully.
“no, it has always been there, right up until Thanos took it,” Nebula says with a slight shake of her head.
“Well, I guess we have another one down” Bruce points out trying to be optimistic.
“yes, lets uh take a coffee break, see how the others are doing,” Steve says clearing his throat.
Everyone nods in agreement, grabbing the various notebooks and files that had been scattered around. They make their way through to the larger conference room where the others were working. As they rounded the corner it appeared they had walked into a heated discussion.
“Are you mad!” Thor booms as he paces back and forth in front of Tony and Rhodey.
“whoa, what’s going on?” Nat asks as they step inside.
“I’m struggling to see your point here pointbreak,” Tony says shaking his head.
“yeah everyone knows what went down, he was in the wrong,” Rhodey says agreeing with Tony.
“no, he didn’t! it was over he was free to do whatever he wants” Thor argues shaking his head.
“guys what are you talking about?” Steve asks but his voice is drowned out by Tony's shouting.
“he cheated on her!” Tony exclaims throwing his arm out.
“they were on a break!” Thor shouts slamming his fist down on the table.
“are they talking about friends?” Scott asks frowning in confusion.
“I doubt it,” Nat says shaking her head.
“Ross cheated on Rachel man, she never should have taken him back” Rhodey argues crossing his arms over his chest.
“or maybe they are” Nat mutters slowly.
“Guys, guys stop,” Steve says trying to get their attention “Hey!” he finally shouts, the three men all quickly turning to face him “what the hell is going on? Friends really?”
“yeah don’t ask I don’t know how we got onto it” Rhodey mutters shaking his head.
“right well please tell me you’ve made some progress” Steve sighs rubbing his forehead.
“depends on your point of view,” Tony says as he stands up from his chair “we’ve worked out that one option is we get both the tesseract and the aether from Asgard, since the tesseract was in the vault until Loki stole it just before they had to escape”
Steve hums nodding his head “is the vault easy to get in to?” Steve asks looking over at Thor.
"yes very, I could easily walk straight in” Thor nods.
“but what about the sceptre?” Nat points out.
“we’re still stuck with either the Battle of New York or stealing it from Sokovia, right before we attacked the base” Tony sighs as he moves over to the screens, pulling up the picture of the Sokovian base.
“that base wasn’t the easiest to get into” Clint points out, gesturing down to the area where he got shot.
“and that was with the 7 of us” Nat sighs, biting her lower lip anxiously.
“we’re already spread thin, we’re most likely going to be working in pairs or three’s” Steve says shaking his head “it’ll be too risky to storm the base in a team that small, especially since the twins will be there”
“is there another option?” Bruce asks.
“just that we get the sceptre in New York,” Tony says shrugging his shoulder “which means we may as well try and get the tesseract at the same time”
“And what about the time stone? Anything on that?” Steve questions.
“nope we know very little about it, we’re just waiting on Wong to get back to us see if he has any useful information,” Rhodey says shaking his head.
“right well let's just focus on the sceptre and the tesseract, see if we can find an easier time to grab them” Nat sighs.
Tumblr media
After another afternoon with little to no progress, Steve was currently debating whether to go back to the compound for the evening. He’d picked JJ up from school and even taken him to the park with Scout for a game of fetch. Hearing JJ’s laugh as he ran around with scout easily lifted Steve’s mood, he even decided to let it slide when he caught JJ sneaking carrots off his plate at dinner.
He was just washing up all the pots and pans from dinner, JJ already fast asleep upstairs when he heard his phone ringing. Glancing over his shoulder he instantly stood to attention when he saw Nat’s name flashing on his screen. Quickly drying his hands and grabbing for his phone.
“what is it? what’s wrong?” he asks as soon as the line connects.
“We did it, we worked it out,” Nat says making Steve’s jaw drop.
“How?” he asks unable to find any other words.
“Strange lived in New York, the time stone was in New York” Nat explains, Steve muttering to himself as he realised what that meant.
“which means it was there when Loki attacked,” he says shaking his head in disbelief, the answer had been in front of them the entire time.
“Exactly, so we can get the time stone, the sceptre and the tesseract in one hit” Nat points out.
“shit” Steve muttered still trying to comprehend that they’d done it.
“exactly we just need to decide who goes after what” Nat sighs.
Steve begins to pace back and forth in the kitchen, his mind trying to work a million miles per hour “well Thor will have to go to Asgard, and maybe take Rocket with him” Steve says rubbing his forehead.
“agreed, and Nebula could maybe go after the power stone, I would suggest the soul but that might be too close to home,” Nat says thinking out loud “who could go with her?”
“Rhodey springs to mind, any of us original five could go to New York and not arise suspicion, and Scott could be helpful there,” Steve says rubbing his chin.
“True, I know Tony took the cube so maybe he could intercept himself there? you could go after the sceptre?” Nat suggests.
“yeah that sounds good, what about the time stone?” Steve asks.
“I’d say Bruce, Strange only ever encountered Tony and Bruce, and out of the two of those Bruce is probably the safest option ego-wise,” Nat says making Steve snort with laughter.
“that just leaves you and Clint to go after the soul stone….” Steve sighs “will you be okay with that? I know Nebula didn’t really give us much information about Vormir but it didn’t sound pretty,” he asks.
Nat lets out a long sigh on the other end of the line, going silent for a couple of moments before answering “yeah, I’m sure I’ve handled worse, plus this is the best way”
“only if you’re sure,” Steve says giving her a chance to change her mind.
“I’m sure Steve” she promises.
“Good, so we’ve got Thor and Rocket going after the Aether, Tony, Scott and myself will get the cube and sceptre, Bruce will handle the time stone, Nebula and Rhodey will get the power stone and you and Clint will get the stone” Steve summarises.
“sounds about right, we can plan something a bit more detailed tomorrow so get some rest and maybe a glass of scotch to celebrate” Nat smirks.
“I will” Steve chuckles, turning when he heard the backdoor opening, Roberta poking her head in “when does Tony think everything will be ready?” he asks.
“Monday morning, I know you want this done sooner rather than later but I think having the weekend to prepare will be good, maybe you can take JJ pumpkin picking” Nat suggests.
“yeah, but only if you’ll join us,” Steve says making Nat chuckle gently.
“wouldn’t miss it, I’ll see you tomorrow Steve” Nat chuckles.
“see you tomorrow Nat” Steve smiles as he puts down the phone.
“so are my services needed tonight?” Roberta asks putting her hands on her hips.
Steve smiles shaking his head “we did it, we worked out how to get all the stones” he says barely able to hold back his smile.
“oh Steve, I’m so happy for you” Roberta beams as she walks over to hug him.
“thank you, I know everything could still go wrong and we could still fail but we’re nearly there, she’s nearly home and I can’t believe it” Steve mutters shaking his head.
“we’ll believe it, and stop it with all that failure nonsense,” Roberta says waving him off “you can do this Steve, you will do this, so stop doubting yourself and just go for it”
Steve smiles down at Roberta “thank you, it means a lot to me” he grins “now I don’t need you to babysit anymore, but would you join me for a celebratory toast?” Steve asks grabbing the scotch from the top cabinet.
“you know I’ll never say no to that” Roberta smirks as Steve pours out two measures of scotch, passing her a glass.
“to getting everyone back,” Roberta says holding out her glass.
“to getting everyone back” Steve smiles tapping his glass against hers.
Resurrection Chapter I
Tumblr media
Summary: Bucky Barnes was only nineteen when the lives of his parents and little sister were taken right in front of him by the ruthless members of the Odinson mob. Sudden attacks ignite the conflict between the two forces of the city, refueling the rivalry that has been rather tame for years. Nine years since Bucky’s life fell apart, he finds it shattering once more when what was supposed to be long dead returns to the living.
"Where the fuck did you put my holster?!" a voice calls out, booming through the space, forcing hairs to stand up straight and birds to flee the sky. "Barnes! I will cut off your dick and make fucking tartar out of it!"
It's hard to understand for some that so much violence can be packed into such a small figure. For many Natasha Romanoff is hard to understand in her entirety, but Bucky thinks it's so inevitably obvious. Of course that little redhead is the one running around killing Stark's enemies and making the murder scene look like a piece of art pulled out of Musée D'Orsay.
And it was a long time ago that he understood that the words spilling out of her mouth don't actually mean anything. Not when it comes to him, or Pietro or Wanda or Clint or Yelena. Bleeding scratches, purple bruises that last for weeks and sprained ankles come with the friendship—but his dick will be in behold for the foreseeable future, at least.
The holster is thrown at her face a dozen of seconds later, the usual indifferent expression stuck on Bucky's face. He doesn't acknowledge her anymore than that, she doesn't say anything in response. A mission is waiting for them just around the corner and small talk has no space in the hour before something like that.
Like so many times before, he weaves the shoelaces across and straight over his combat boots that are in desperate need of a wash. He's had them ever since his days in the military. It's something Sam gives him shit for—that he's somehow trying to relive his days as a sergeant—but the birdbrain doesn't know how damn practical they are while breaking noses and smashing in people's heads.
"What did this one do?" Bucky mutters, throwing the door open while stomping over towards the sleek black car parked on the other side of the street. Stark really needs to realize that the expensive cars he throws around to his henchmen need to be deep-cleaned after each use. Blood soaks the seats to their very core, stains the windows and console and steering wheel.
"Fucking spy. Caught selling intel about our shipments to Banner," Natasha answers, ripping the car door open before sliding into the passenger seat.
Bucky grunts, shaking his head to rid himself of the strands hanging over his eyes. The car quietly comes to life, taking the two of them away on the streets with one of Bucky's hands on the wheel.
Him and Natasha never talk particularly much. Not that he has anything against her—in contrary to that, actually—but there's just not anything to be said. They can read each other with only a breath, a flick of their hand, a mannerism. Both of them have been forced and molded into picking up on every little detail surrounding them through the years. It's merely a habit at this point.
"Moved the 1:30 on Tuesday, then?" he asks, taking a turn to the right.
"Yeah. Stark wasn't feeling keen on having a run in with Thor and his men on a weekday."
To this day, on each time, Bucky has a hard time remembering how to breathe when he hears their names. Anything with a connection to the people that took everything from him steals his functions away. And it's hard living like that in this business. The Odinsons are all you hear about when you live in a town partly controlled by the notorious family and their loyal men.
The rest of the ride is quiet. Natasha is well aware of his past. Everyone is. Not because he told them, but because things like that get spread around in this world Bucky's found himself in. They knew even before he stepped foot in Stark's territory. And now, when he's family, his bloodlust is theirs and the tragedy of your murder lays heavy on all shoulders.
It's not a secret that Bucky has a shitstorm of trauma left unprocessed in the back of his mind, locked away to the point where he can go days without feeling anything. He's a good asset for that reason, getting the job done quickly and cleanly without any trace left behind. It's nearly clinical, while extracting as much pain and suffering as he possibly can.
The truth is that Bucky is an assassin, a really fucking good one at that, and killing is the only way he knows how to deal with what was taken from him. When he joined the military just after his whole family died, there was still some form of patriotic hope and righteousness in him. It died as quickly as it took for that first bomb to kill four of his fellow soldiers and twenty-two civilians.
Five years later he lost his arm in combat. It was inevitable that he would get severely injured. By then he had become so reckless that Steve would ignore him for weeks until he would apologize and clean up his act for a short while before falling into the dangerous patterns he had become so used to.
He had nothing left to fight for, to live for, except that goddamn blonde that he had to keep alive. The punk had grown ten inches and gained 100 pounds of muscle by then, but he still had that everlasting hope inside of him, the belief of the good in humanity. That made him dangerous too.
Steve is a firefighter now. Saves kitties from trees and puts out bonfires for a living. And Bucky is glad that he didn't follow him into this life—he almost had a heart attack when the jerk showed up all those years ago with a shaved head and combat boots on his feet, deployed to the other side of the world just because Bucky had done so.
He knows about what Bucky does. And he doesn't agree with it, not at all, but he doesn't do anything about either. Maybe because he wants to keep all his body parts intact, despite how many times Bucky has told Steve that he is under their protection. Has been so since the first day. He's pretty sure Natasha has a soft spot for the tall blonde too, with how she plays his buttons and makes him blush each time they cross paths.
"Rogers got that promotion he was talkin' about?" Natasha says, stoically, as she ducks underneath Bucky's arm holding up the rusty door to the warehouse.
Bucky almost scoffs in amusement. His thoughts always seem to predict whatever is going to be said—reality following the intricate pattern of his spiraling anxiety. Real fucking sweet and crippling simultaneously.
"Yeah," he answers, quietly closing the door behind them again while adjusting to the damp darkness of the concrete hallway. "The punk's a Captain now. Youngest ever in the city."
"Good for him," she mumbles under her breath, walking forward without making a sound because that's just how she is.
Gruff voices ricochet off the walls, echo into Bucky and Nat's ears. She walks in front of him, he always makes sure she does. He can keep her in his sight then—it's easier to stave off an attack you see coming than one going on behind your back. The little spitfire is more skilled in punching down enemies than he ever could be, but Bucky likes to know where his close ones are ever since that day.
"Fucking finally!"
Arms are thrown up into the air, accompanying the roll of eyes only Yelena Belova can muster up. There's a streak of blood smeared out over her forehead, but they know better than to assume it's hers. The guy sitting strapped to a chair would be long dead by then if that was the case—Pietro would never allow someone to touch his best friend and live to take another breath.
"You took so long, svoloch'," Yelena whines, throwing down the rag she dried her bloody hands on.
Bucky learned some Russian during the time he was captured by some weird up-and-coming mob group a few years ago. He honestly doesn't remember a thing from that year except the Russian words still lingering in his mind. Most of it he's sure he has learned from the two sisters, permanently making his life a goddamn pain.
"Malyshka, you sent the text eight minutes ago. Give us a fucking break," Bucky answers, drying away a drop of water from the ceiling that has landed on his forehead.
He puts down his gun in the back pocket of his black jeans, giving a nod of acknowledgment to Pietro.
"Is this really a four person job?" Natasha speaks up, glaring at the half-conscious man strapped down. The guy isn't exactly going anywhere.
"You wouldn't think so, no?" Pietro says, arms crossed over his chest and smirking that complacent smirk of his.
"We have a lot of goddamn things to do, you know?" Bucky says, staring down the young man and woman he unfortunately has to work with. He loves the shit out of them, but they really are fucking annoying.
Yelena kicks the chair, waking the man up with a startle. He coughs, spits out blood onto the concrete floor. Ten years ago Bucky would have thrown up, probably. Now it's routine.
"This is the guy we caught sneaking intel on our shipments to Odinson three days ago," Pietro tells them, nodding towards the heaving man. "Go on. Tell them what you told us, buddy."
Natasha raises an eyebrow, a questioning glance towards her sister with a sigh. It must be something really fucking good that man is about to disclose.
"It wasn't the Odinsons," he chokes out. His eyes are nearly glued shut by the swollen skin around them—it took some encouraging before he opened his mouth. "They didn't hire me to give them info. H—"
A series of deep coughs rasp from his lungs. Bucky is starting to lose his patience.
"Hydra did."
Endgame (Chapter Five)
Tumblr media
Summary: Alongside Bruce and Rocket, (Y/N) travels to New Asgard to recruit Thor and after a nerve-wracking but successful time travel test, the Avengers decide to move onto the next phase of planning their time heist.
Pairing: Steve Rogers X Reader
Word Count: 4.7k
Warnings/Disclaimers: Disclaimer for a scene depicting unhealthy coping mechanisms and grief disorders
A/N: This was a tough chapter to write and I’m sure that it won’t be easy to read, so here’s a little heads-up for you before you begin (and you might wanna grab a tissue or two btw). Thank you for reading, I hope you all enjoy!
Chapter Five (Previous Chapter)
“Sunshine, are you sure you’ll be okay in New Asgard?” Steve suddenly asked, his brows furrowed in worry as he watched (Y/N) sling the strap of her overnight bag onto her shoulder and anxiously twisted his gold wedding band around his finger. “Thor could barely look at you after he killed Thanos, much less speak to you. You’ve got such a big heart, (Y/N), but I just…I don’t wanna see you get your hopes up for nothing and wind up getting burned for it.”
Touched by her husband’s concern, (Y/N) smiled and reached up to cup his smooth cheek. “I’ll be okay, sweetheart. I’ll have Bruce and Rocket with me for moral support, and I have complete faith that the three of us working together can convince Thor to help us out.” Her fingers moved to hold his chin as she stood on her tiptoes and softly kissed his lips. “I love you.”
Steve gave her another, much-longer kiss of his own, the corners of his azure eyes crinkling when he finally pulled away and smiled down at her. “I love you too, baby. Good luck.”
As (Y/N) made her way out of the Avengers Facility, she was greeted by Nebula and Rhodes, who had just arrived to begin helping Tony construct the new Quantum Tunnel he designed; since she knew that her furry traveling companion would begin growing impatient soon, she gave them both a brief hug and farewell wave before hurrying outside the compound.
“That’s…a spaceship…” Scott numbly remarked from one of the outdoor benches, a dumbfounded expression on his face as he stared at the Benatar parked in the middle of the compound’s overgrown lawn. “A spaceship flown by a talking raccoon…”
“His name is Rocket, and I recommend not calling him a raccoon to his face; he’s pretty sensitive about it, you see.” Scott arched a bewildered brow but managed a nod, causing (Y/N) to lightly chuckle. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Scott. Don’t let the others do anything stupid until I get back, okay?”
“Sure thing, Mrs. America!”
(Y/N) gave Scott a quick fist-bump and trudged across the weed-covered lawn towards the towering spacecraft, where an exasperated Rocket was waiting for her on the steps. “Took you long enough, (Y/L/N)!”
“Hello to you too, Rocket,” She replied, ascending the stairs and pausing to secure her overnight bag in the ship’s lounge before following the raccoon into the flight deck. “How’ve you been?”
“Pretty good, but I thought I was gonna die of old age waitin’ for you to finish smooching Captain Jawline back there goodbye.”
Suppressing the urge to roll her eyes at Rocket’s dramatics, (Y/N) held up the lunchbox she’d packed earlier and gave it a little shake. “And here I went to all the trouble of packing you tacos and nachos for the trip. Maybe Bruce will appreciate them more-”
“Hey, hey, hey, let’s not get too hasty now, Professor.” Rocket’s swift backtrack made (Y/N) grin in amusement; she handed the lunchbox over to the raccoon and began strapping herself into the vacant chair in between Bruce and Rocket. “So, time travel? You know, I’ve seen and done a lot of weird shit across the galaxy, but even I didn’t think that time travel was a thing.”
Bruce nodded. “Science has always classified it as a theoretical possibility but up until meeting Scott, it always sounded like it would remain science fiction to me. We’ve got the foundations of a good plan, though, and now that Tony’s back, we’ll figure all the tricky logistics out in no time!”
The spacecraft’s engines roared to life and while they took off into the clear blue sky, (Y/N) only partially listened to her companions’ discussion, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of Thor and what they might be faced with upon their arrival in New Asgard. Over the past five years, she’d done her best to keep in touch with all her super-powered friends and acquaintances, which included Brunnhilde; the fearless Valkyrie established the Asgardian refugees who survived both of Thanos’ attacks a secluded settlement in Tønsberg, Norway, where they founded a flourishing fishing community and slowly acclimated themselves to their new home, and although she’d done her best to keep an eye on Thor, it sounded in her letters that the king of Asgard had fully isolated himself from his people. Steve might end up being right after all, she silently ruminated, I’m one of the last people on Earth he’d ever want to see because I’m a reminder of his self-declared failure.
A small nudge on (Y/N)’s arm brought her back to reality and when she glanced around for its source, she saw that Rocket was holding his Vanished friend Quill’s old Zune out for her to take. During one of their visits to Earth, Nebula told her that one of the reasons Rocket tolerated her company the most was because she reminded him of Quill; they both loved music of all kind and both used music as a coping mechanism since childhood and although he never mentioned a word of it to anyone, Rocket deeply missed his found family and sought out his own unique ways to manage their loss. The raccoon’s eyes were diligently trained on the viewport ahead as he continued piloting the Benatar, but his offering of the distraction of music still touched her. Checking that the outdated device was plugged into the spacecraft’s speakers, she scrolled through the over three-hundred songs downloaded onto it and soon found the one she was searching for, smiling to herself as the comforting tune began to play throughout the flight deck.
“Let me take you on a little trip, my super-sonic ship’s at your disposal if you feel so inclined, well all right. We’re gonna travel faster than light, so do up your overcoat tight and you’ll go anywhere you want to decide, well all right…”
Bruce hummed along to the upbeat song and out of the corner of (Y/N)’s eye, she watched as a rare smile spread across Rocket’s fur-covered face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hours later, they landed the Benatar in a vacant field just outside of Tønsberg and hailed the first truck they saw driving down the small country road. The friendly Asgardian fisherman at the wheel allowed the three of them to clamber into the truck bed and drove them past the village border; Bruce was forced to hold his knees to his chest, a grumbling Rocket was crammed in next to (Y/N) and the weighed-down truck bed created sparks each time it scraped against the road but all that combined couldn’t stop her from enjoying the stunning landscape surrounding them. It’s not quite the same as Asgard but it’s a wonderful place to build a new home, she thought to herself, smiling when they turned a corner and got their first glimpse of New Asgard.
Bordering the chilly North Sea, the small city-state of New Asgard was made up of dozens of structures and homes, with modern fishing equipment and delivery trucks lined up along the man-made bay and touches of traditional Asgardian designs in the architecture of its buildings. Asgardians and Sakaarian refugees looked up from their work and watched their truck pass by with curious eyes; with a loud thump against the side by Rocket, they slowed at the pier and the three of them gracelessly clambered out of the truck bed with a quick word of thanks to their driver before he sped away.
“Kind of a step down from the golden palaces and the magic hammers and what not…”
Bruce frowned at Rocket’s callous observation. “Hey, have a little compassion, pal. First they lost Asgard and then half their people, they’re probably just happy to have a home.”
“Besides, the Asgardians don’t consider their home to be lost,” (Y/N) added, pulling the edges of her knit sweater tighter around her as a frigid gust of wind blew. “To them, Asgard’s not a place but a people; wherever they are, Asgard is too.” The raccoon muttered something about mushy sentimentality under his breath and (Y/N) threw a chuckling Bruce an exasperated look.
“You shouldn’t have come.”
The three of them turned to see Brunnhilde standing at the edge of the pier; she was emptying a full fishing trap into a crate and instead of the impressive battle armor of the Valkyrie, she was dressed in the functional clothing of a fisherman with her long dark hair braided away from her face. Contrary to her standoffish words, the Valkyrie stepped forward and met (Y/N) halfway, hugging her tight and giving her a smile when she finally stepped back. “It’s so good to see you again! How’ve you been? It’s great to see that New Asgard’s thriving under your watch.”
“Ah, I’m just the one keeping an eye on things; it’s them who’re making all this actually work.” Brunnhilde’s smile faltered as her dark eyes filled with sympathy. “You said in your letters that you’re doing okay, but…well, I know better than most how easy it is to hide behind those words. Are you all right, (Y/N)? Truly?”
A lump formed in (Y/N)’s throat at the Valkyrie’s concern for her well-being. “I haven’t been, but I think I will be soon.”
“Ah, Valkyrie!” They both glanced over as Bruce approached them with his muscular arms spread wide in welcome. “Great to see you, Angry Girl.”
She studied the scientist’s changed body and bit back a smile. “I think I liked you either of the other ways.”
“This is Rocket.”
Rocket gave her a little wave. “How you doin’?”
If Brunnhilde was surprised to see a talking raccoon casually leaning against one of her fishing crates, then she did a remarkable job hiding it; instead, she pursed her lips and looked between both (Y/N) and Bruce before speaking. “He won’t see you.”
“It’s that bad, huh?” Bruce’s smile fell.
“We only see him once a month, when he comes in for…” Brunnhilde trailed off as she glanced over at a nearby stack of beer-filled kegs. “Supplies.”
(Y/N) felt her heart sink into her stomach at the implications behind her words. “It’s that bad.”
“Yeah.” The Valkyrie crossed her arms over her chest and raised a curious brow. “I take it this isn’t a social call?”
“We think we might’ve found a way to bring everyone back, but we need Thor’s help to do it,” (Y/N) replied, shuffling her feet and giving Brunnhilde a pleading look. “You know that I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe that our plan could actually work. We need Thor, that’s true, but maybe he needs us just as much.”
After a long moment, Brunnhilde released a sigh and nodded once. “I suppose if anyone could get through to him, it’s you guys. He lives in a cabin at the far end of the bay; just head down the shoreline, you can’t miss it.”
They thanked her and after promising to keep her informed on the progress of their time heist, the trio walked through New Asgard towards Thor’s secluded home. It was a small cabin, not as large or grand as the other buildings in the village, and much of its exterior showed signs of neglect; with a hesitant glance at (Y/N) and Bruce, Rocket stepped forward and knocked on the wooden front door. When no one answered, the raccoon pushed the door open and stepped inside, and (Y/N) followed close behind; as the scientist ducked to fit through the doorway, she glanced around the cabin’s cluttered entryway at the piles of discarded pizza boxes and liquor bottles and wrinkled her nose when the unmistakable scent of body odor filled her nostrils.
“Whew!” Rocket recoiled in disgust and waved a hand in front of his pointed nose. “Something died in here…”
Bruce looked down at the mess spilling out into the entryway, concern etched across his face as he glanced up and called out, “Hello? Thor?”
“Are you here about the cable?” The Asgardian’s deep voice slurred from the next room. “Cinemax went out two days ago, and the sports are all kinda fuzzy…”
The three of them exchanged a look before making their way into the cabin’s den. Sitting on the dilapidated couch were Korg and Miek, two former Sakaarian gladiators who helped the Revengers defeat Hela and save the Asgardians and who later aided in their escape from Thanos, and they were in the middle of playing a video game on the television in the corner. Their view was blocked by Thor, who was reaching for a bottle of beer from the bowl of ice on the coffee table, and when the three of them entered the den, the Asgardian straightened and turned to face them.
Brunnhilde’s words of warning about Thor’s well-being proved to be an understatement; Thor had gained a considerable amount of weight in the past five years and while that alone wasn’t necessarily a need for concern, his overgrown hair and beard, his wrinkled and stained lounge pants and the overpowering scent of alcohol wafting off of him told (Y/N) that her old friend was in a very dark place and had been for a long time. Her eyes stung with unshed tears but she was quick to blink them away as Thor’s drunken face illuminated with the sight of them and he held his arms out in welcome. “Guys! Oh my god, it’s so good to see you!” He gave a stunned Bruce an enthusiastic hug before looking down at Rocket and laughing. “C’mere, you little rascal!”
He enveloped the raccoon in a suffocating embrace that he unsuccessfully tried to escape. “Yeah, no, I’m good, I’m good! This really isn’t necessary!”
Chuckling, Thor finally released him and pulled (Y/N) into a tight hug, enveloping her in a pungent cloud of alcohol. “Writer (Y/L/N)! How’s my favorite writer doing?” He hiccuped and leaned back to examine her. “Ah, just as beautiful as the day I met you. Rogers is a lucky man, indeed!” Before she could think of something to say, he gestured towards the Sakaarian refugees seated on the couch. “You guys know my friends Miek and Korg, right?”
“Hey, guys!” Korg greeted and Miek squeaked as he munched on a slice of pizza. “Beer’s in the bucket. Feel free to log into the Wifi! No password, obviously-” The Kronan cut himself off, holding his headset with one hand and pointing at the television screen with the other. “Thor, he’s back. The kid on T.V. just called me a dickhead again.”
Thor’s mismatched eyes narrowed. “NoobMaster.”
“Yeah, NoobMaster69. Called me a dickhead…”
The Asgardian marched across the den and snatched Korg’s headset, and the three of them watched in bewilderment as he yelled at the child on the other end; Rocket threw (Y/N) and Bruce an unsettled look and with an inward sigh, (Y/N) leaned closer to Bruce and murmured, “He needs help, Bruce, but I don’t think he can get it here.”
Bruce nodded in agreement but before he could reply, Thor turned back around to face them and brandished his unopened beer bottle. “So, do you guys want a drink? What’re we drinking?” He popped the cap off with Stormbreaker’s blade and took a long drink. “Beer, tequila? You seem like a whiskey sort of woman, Writer (Y/L/N)…”
“Buddy…” The scientist took a step forward and rested a cautious hand on Thor’s shoulder. “You all right?”
Thor swayed a little as he chuckled good-naturedly. “Yes, I’m fine! Why? Don’t I look all right?”
“You look like melted ice cream.”
(Y/N) shot Rocket a disapproving glare while the Asgardian snorted in amusement and took another drink. “So, what’s up? You guys just here for a hang or what?”
Anxiously fiddling with the sleeve of her sweater, (Y/N) moved to stand beside Bruce and mustered up a smile for her old friend. “We need your help. There might be a chance we could fix everything.”
“What, like the cable? Because that’s been driving me bananas for weeks-”
“Like Thanos.”
Bruce’s words hung heavy in the air as Thor’s smile slowly vanished, replaced with a grief-stricken expression that (Y/N) knew all too well; it was the same expression she saw reflected back at her in the mirror every morning for the past five years. With his eyes filled with unshed tears, Thor grabbed the collar of Bruce’s sweatshirt and pointed at him as he choked out, “Don’t…D-Don’t you say that name…”
Korg slowly stood and slipped off his headset, warily looking between both men and shrugging his rocky shoulders. “Um, yeah, we don’t actually say that name in here.”
The scientist remained unfazed by Thor’s angry outburst and delicately wrapped a large hand around his wrist. “Please take your hand off me.” He gently eased his fingers off the sweatshirt and (Y/N) could hear Rocket slip his blaster back into its holster when he finally let his hand drop. “Now, I know that…guy might scare you-”
“W-Why would I be scared of that guy? I’m the one who killed that guy, remember? Anyone else here kill that guy?” Thor backed away when Bruce attempted to lay a comforting hand on his shoulder and shook his head. “Nope, didn’t think so. Korg, why don’t you tell everybody who chopped Thanos’ big head off.”
“Um, Stormbreaker?”
“Well, who was swinging Stormbreaker?”
Rocket opened his mouth to speak but (Y/N) bent down to rest a halting hand on his arm, shaking her head when the raccoon’s brow furrowed in confusion and silently gesturing to Bruce as he followed the distraught Asgardian; Bruce’s gaze was filled with warmth and understanding, but Thor was steadfastly avoiding it as he took a long swig of beer. “I get it, you’re in a rough spot. I’ve been there myself, and you wanna know who helped me out of it?”
Thor chuckled humorlessly. “I dunno, Natasha?”
“It was you. You helped me.”
Shaking his head, Thor walked over to the den’s window and looked out at New Asgard in the distance. “Well, why don’t you ask the Asgardians down there how much my help is worth?” He lowered himself to sit in a nearby armchair. “The ones that are left, anyway.”
(Y/N) found herself crossing the messy den and kneeling beside Thor’s armchair, gently resting a hand on his and rubbing circles across his skin with her thumb. “When we were on the Statesman, I told you about the Sokovia Accords and how Steve and Tony weren’t speaking to one another. When I confided in you that I didn’t believe there was an easy way to fix everything, you said to me, ‘Hope can be just as powerful of a weapon as any sword or blaster and as long as we hold onto it, anything is possible.’” Tears started to roll down her cheeks but she ignored them as she tightened her hold on his hand. “For five years, I believed that any hope I had of seeing my daughter again died the day Thanos destroyed those stones. But this plan we’re working on…it renewed my hope, Thor. I think we can bring them all back.”
“Stop. Stop, okay?” Thor pulled his hand from hers and refused to meet her gaze. “I know you think I’m down here wallowing in my own self-pity, waiting to be rescued and saved, but I’m fine, okay? We’re fine, aren’t we?”
Korg waved a hand. “Yeah, we’re good here!”
“So, whatever it is you’re offering, we’re not into it, don’t care, couldn’t care less. Goodbye.”
(Y/N) wiped away her tears as Bruce took a step closer to them. “We need you, pal.”
Despite the conflicted expression beginning to form on Thor’s face, he didn’t respond to the scientist’s words; with a small sigh of exasperation, Rocket stepped forward and crossed his arms over his chest. “There’s beer on the ship.”
The corner of the Asgardian’s lips curved upwards at that. “What kind?”
(Y/N) stood and exchanged a knowing look with Bruce; while Thor’s mental headspace was questionable at best and he’d forced them into empty bribery, the God of Thunder had agreed to join their self-described time heist.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gritting her teeth as her biceps strained with the effort of tightening the bolt in front of her, (Y/N) gave her wrench one final twist before releasing the breath she’d been holding. “Okay, Tony, how’s that?”
“Perfect. Good work, Austen!” Down below, Tony looked up from the newly-constructed Quantum Tunnel’s control booth and chuckled. “You can dismount the super-soldier now.”
Steve made a disgruntled sound as (Y/N) rolled her eyes and tucked the wrench into her toolbelt. “You couldn’t have phrased that sentence in a way that didn’t make us sound like perverts?”
“Hey, I offered to go fetch you a ladder but Capsicle insisted on this little Cirque du Soleil routine. I think he just likes showing off the super-strength; remember how he ripped that log in half on Barton’s farm?”
The super-soldier removed his hands from (Y/N)’s calves and she hopped down from his shoulders, falling for less than a second before he deftly caught her in his arms and grinned. “Or maybe I just like carrying my gorgeous wife around, Tony.”
A giggling (Y/N) gave her husband an over-exaggerated kiss on the lips as the billionaire pretended to retch and wrapped her arms around his neck as he carried her down the Quantum Tunnel’s ramp. “The grease-covered overalls are really doing it for you, aren’t they?”
“Baby, let’s just say that you’d give Rosie the Riveter a run for her money,” Steve replied with a wolfish grin that instantly made her face warm; he finally set her down on her feet and they held hands as they walked over to the control booth. “How’re we looking?”
Tony flipped a couple of switches and jotted a figure down on his tablet. “We’re almost good to go, just as soon as Ratchet checks on the breakers and the Jolly Green Giant finishes prepping Clint’s new Quantum suit.”
(Y/N) pursed her lips but remained silent, not wanting to alert the two men to her disapproval of their changed plan. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Clint’s capabilities but as was the case with the Asgardian currently sleeping off a hangover in one of the hangar’s parked Jeeps, she wasn’t sure if the archer was in the right mindset to take part in such a dangerous experiment that involved traveling back in time to his family’s farm. Now that Tony and Rocket’s Quantum Tunnel was fully constructed and all the Avengers were finally assembled, they decided to use their only spare Pym Particles to conduct a time travel experiment; if they were successful and could definitely prove that the Quantum Realm could allow them to travel through time, then they would begin planning out the next phase of their time heist. Scott was their designated test man but Clint insisted on taking his place, and (Y/N) had a feeling it was partially because of the guilt he felt over his vigilantism.
When the Benatar arrived back at the Avengers Facility after their visit to New Asgard, Natasha had already returned from her solo trip to Japan; Clint was beginning to reacquaint himself with his old teammates and getting to know more about the newer ones, but it was obvious that a part of him felt out of place after all he’d done since the Snap. (Y/N) ran into the archer on her way to the kitchen in search for a non-alcoholic beer for Thor, and it was then that the two of them were able to talk for the first time in seven years.
“It’s good to see you again, (Y/L/N),” Clint beamed before giving her a brief hug; his dark blonde hair was shaved on the sides of his head and long in the center, and one of his arms was entirely covered in tattoos. “And congratulations, by the way, Cap told me that you two got hitched a few years back. Couldn’t figure out why Scott kept calling you ‘Mrs. America,’ but now I guess that’s why.”
“Ah, Scott’s a sweetheart.” (Y/N) chuckled. “I’m just grateful he hasn’t started calling me Lady Liberty or something.”
They both laughed but after a moment, Clint sobered and shoved his hands into his pockets. “Cap also told me about Carina.”
Her smile slowly faded, and she carefully considered her next words before finally speaking. “I can’t speak for the others, of course, but I don’t blame you for what you’ve done.” Clint looked up at her in surprise but remained silent while she continued. “The only reason Steve and I were able to live with the grief of losing Carina was because we had each other to lean on. If either of us had Vanished along with her…well, it’s not too much of a stretch to see what we would’ve become. But we’re all here now, Clint, and that’s what matters. We’re together again and by working together as a team, we’re going to get our families back.”
The teary-eyed archer gave her a thankful smile and gestured towards the kitchen. “Wanna help me make a hangover cure? It’s been a while since I’ve had to make one, but I think the big guy might need one if he’s gonna help us out with all this time travel stuff.” (Y/N) nodded and after looping her arm around his, the pair walked down the hall to the kitchen.
“All right, Red and I set the breakers and checked on the emergency generators,” Rocket called out as he and Natasha entered the hangar. “We’re good to go.”
Natasha moved to stand beside (Y/N) and mumbled, “Did the raccoon seriously just call me ‘Red?’”
“Hey, at least you’re not ‘Big Green,’” (Y/N) muttered back with a small smirk.
Steve sighed in exasperation. “Or ‘Captain Jawline.’”
The trio watched as Clint, Bruce, Nebula, Rhodes and Scott filtered into the hangar and joined the rest of them at the control booth. “Like I said before, you’re gonna feel discombobulated from the chronoshift but it’s nothing to be worried about.” Bruce fiddled with the controls and gave the equipment one final go-over as he spoke. “I’m giving you one minute to walk around and find something you can bring back as proof of a successful test, and then I’ll bring you back. Got it?”
Clint nodded. “Yep, I’m good.”
“Good luck, Clint.” Natasha reached for the archer’s hand and gave it a firm squeeze. “And be careful.”
He gave her a fleeting smile and squeezed her hand back before dropping it and walking up the Quantum Tunnel’s ramp, standing at the platform’s edge as he anxiously waited for Bruce to start the experiment. Out of the corner of her eye, (Y/N) noticed a bleary-eyed Thor warily join the small group crowded behind the control panel, feeling Steve’s hand tighten around hers as Clint’s helmet enveloped his head and the Quantum Tunnel whirled to life.
“All right, Clint, we’re going in three…two…one!” In the blink of an eye, Clint shrank into nothing and everyone watched the platform with bated breath while Bruce began his next countdown. “And returning in three…two…one!”
There was a sudden flash of light and the archer appeared on the platform, hunched over on his hands and knees as he struggled to regain his breath; Natasha was the first of them to sprint up the ramp and she immediately crouched down to help her old partner stand. “Hey! Hey, hey, look at me! You okay?”
“Yeah.” Clint was panting and his eyes were filled with stunned disbelief as he nodded and held up a hand, his fingers tightly clutching a child’s worn baseball mitt. “Yeah, it worked.” Natasha’s jaw dropped and the archer tossed the baseball mitt to a beaming Tony. “It worked!”
With an incredulous laugh, (Y/N) turned and threw her arms around Steve, holding tight as the super-soldier pulled her close and lifted her off her feet; she could feel the elated kisses he pressed against her neck and hear the thankful prayers he mumbled into her hair, the both of them reeling with the knowledge that they were now even closer to getting their daughter and all of their friends back.
“Now that we’ve got confirmation that this insane plan can actually work, we’re gonna need to figure out where and when we’ll find the stones,” Bruce remarked as he finished checking Clint’s vitals.
Tony looked over at (Y/N) and grinned. “Then it’s a good thing we’ve got an award-winning novelist and kick-ass history professor to helm that phase of our time heist, isn’t it?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: That’s right, (Y/N)’s going to take charge of planning the time heist and put all her teaching/researching skills to good use! Thank you all so much for reading and commenting! I’ve created a Spotify playlist inspired by this series, and I’ll be updating it every time I upload a new chapter. Enjoy!

A one shot/ request idea: Do you remember the scene in Ragnarok where Thor gets approched for a selfie by fangirls and Loki rolls his eyes like whatever? What If A fan approached Loki and he took an interest in them? Or a shy fan off to the side he notices wants to but is to shy to so he goes to them? Idk, it's always been in my head and I can't seem to write it the way I want.
"The First Annual New York City Avengers Convention"
Summary: Loki knows firsthand that cons suck when you’re the villain, but sometimes one special fan can make all the difference.
Content Warning: None, this is fluff Word Count: 1.1k
-------------------
“Hey, I’m Captain Ameri—”
The fangirls didn’t even wait for Sam to finish his introduction before screaming like banshees in his face, holding up signs of marriage proposals and ‘look at me, Captain!’ Sam was a natural at crowd-pleasing, which not everyone expected at first, but made him the natural choice to Emcee the panels.
The same couldn’t be said for Loki.
Ever since Thanos met his final defeat and Loki revealed that his death at the titan’s hand had been cleverly staged (granted, he’d been Snapped and had been legitimately gone for those five years anyway), the UN had ruled that due to Loki being under Thanos’ slavery, he was pardoned of his previous transgressions against Earth. After things settled again, the Avengers who’d survived found themselves with nearly nothing to do.
Nothing to do, that is, but become celebrities of the highest status. This year, the City put on an Avengers Con or the first time, partially to help raise peoples’ morale after what they endured the past five years. Sam, Clint, Bruce, and Thor were all present. Loki was as well, although he was quickly advised to stick to the backgrounds.
His name may have been formally cleared, but that didn’t stop people from treating him like an international war criminal. The Court of Public Opinion nearly always won out in the end. Going places and being seen as a pariah served to do little but trigger the terrible memories of various rejections Loki had faced from the people he’d trusted. It left him emotionally drained and having little to do about it. Thus, Loki hated it here.
While the others were casually working the crowds and making the shrieking hoards of cosplayers and superfans, Loki slipped out behind the autograph tables, where only the volunteers scrambled around, making sure they had everything they needed to make things go smoothly.
“If only they served any alcohol besides that watered-down yak piss Midgardians call beer,” he muttered to himself, taking off his fake ornamental horns and setting them by a wall.
“Holy shit, are those real?” called a small voice from behind him, causing him to pivot on his boots.
You’d run behind a curtain to avoid a small group of cosplayers mocking you for your choice of costume and found yourself face to face with the real deal, making your heart stop. You’d taken some creative liberties with your outfit, switching out black trousers for a green tulle skirt that billowed out behind you, though the green, gold, and black blazer was accurate. You’d turned a secondhand plastic tiara in a small, delicate version of Loki’s war horns, and they framed your face beautifully. Your earrings were tiny tessarects.
Having seen the real Loki just hanging out on his own, you’d gotten a temporary adrenaline rush that had pushed you out of your comfort zone to try and approach him. However, it wore off as you saw the look on his face wasn’t one that seemed particularly receptive. Still, you just had to ask him if those were the ones he’d worn in Germany.
“Oh, well, yes,” Loki replied, startled to see you. You suddenly became super conscious of your dumb costume, which Loki was staring at. “I must say,” he began before trailing off, taking you in even more.
“You probably think I look like an ass,” you said, trying hard not to lose your cool or stumble over your words. “I’m just a big fan and I’ve always been able to sew, so I figured—”
“—you’re a fan of mine, are you?” Loki asked, intrigued.
You bowed your head. “Yeah. Sorry if you were trying to get away from the crowd. I am being kind of rude.”
Loki shook his head and offered you a smile. “Not at all. Actually, I’m here because it seems to be where I’m most needed.”
“Here?” you asked, looking around you. “No one can see you from here!”
“Exactly,” Loki sighed. “Everyone wants to see the Avengers, not the person they had to fight and subdue.”
“But your name’s been cleared,” you argued. “As a fan of yours, though, I already knew that. I don’t exactly get a lot of friends out of being one. I mean, look at me!”
You fluffed out your skirt and gave a quick twirl. “I honestly think it’s the most creative garb I’ve ever seen,” Loki admired, making your skin grow cold as you felt vulnerable under his watching eye.
“You do?” you asked hopefully.
“I do, my new friend. But it needs something, I think.” Loki smiled and bent down to pick up his helmet, taking it to you. “And yes, this is real.”
You gasped and felt ready to cry. Five minutes ago, you were being chased behind a curtain by a group of assholes, now here you were, being offered THE horns by the God of Mischief himself!
“But be careful, they are heavy,” he warned.
“I can’t wear those,” you insisted. “I’m just a dweeby fan.”
Loki looked at you tenderly. “In my experience, my friend, the genuine love of one is more than the distant admiration of many.”
You quickly tore off the plastic tiara and cast it aside, bowing your head again as Loki lifted the horns, setting them gently on your head. It did feel like he laid a set of dumbbells on your scalp, though.
“You weren’t wrong about this being heavy!” you giggled, making Loki laugh as well. “You can keep them.”
Loki removed the helmet and put it back on the ground, taking a moment to look at you in your gown again. “You know, you really do look spectacular. I am honored that you’ve chosen me to admire.”
You wanted to melt into a pile of fangirl soup on the floor. “Th...thank you.” Then, you got an idea that you figured at this point, you may as well put out there. “If you were serious about looking for some good alcohol,” you said, looking down bashfully at your feet, “I do know a local watering hole that serves top-shelf whiskey.”
Loki looked over his shoulder, in the general direction of where the shrieks and cries of excitement at the Avengers were still piercing the air.
“I won’t be missing anything, but now that we’ve made acquaintances, I’m much more interested in drinking in more of you than the libations.”
THUD, went your little fangirl heart.
-------------------
Thanks for the request! I do love these. :D

Loki X F!Reader: He wants you: PT.1
Tumblr media
You and Nat were outside of the room containing Loki. Fury had decided for you and Nat to interrogate him or at least sneak some information away in order for you to figure out his reasoning for coming to Earth and attacking its people. You decided to do it first, to see if this trickster could fool you or If you could fool him.
As you entered the hall you noticed him standing on the far side of the cell trying to look for anyway to get out. But you knew there was no chance of that happening. You silently walked over and waited for him to turn around as he hadn’t noticed or sensed your presence.
Suddenly he stopped and turned around.
“There not many people who can sneak up on me.”
He said with a surprised tone as you stood there a little bit away from the glass with your arms crossed glaring at him to give him no thought of weakness from you. He was not how you imagined he would look when they said he was Thor’s brother. He was in everyway opposite of him. Though you had to admit he was just as handsome as his brother.
“I’ll take that as a compliment then...”
Loki started to sway toward you with a bit curious look on his face.
“Your name, pet? What should I call you?’
You smirked, Nat had warned you before hand that this man was quick with his tongue in the way that he knew how to speak his way out of almost any situation making you wonder if his charms could work on you the way he thought they would.
“I only give my name to those who earn it...and you are not one of those people.”
Loki turned around when you a spoken and smiled at you as if he knew something you didn’t.
“Oh I like you...But a nice girl like you shouldn’t be in a place like this.” He gestured around him and the cell.
“I’m not a nice girl once you get to know me. So don’t think for a minute that your mind games will work on me.”
“Is that all you think I will do...just mind games...”
You said nothing but you thought for a moment that this man was much more interesting than others you had met. You had to admit he caught your attention with the way he seemed drawn to you, but you knew that it was probably an act.
“Oh no my sweet pet. Not mind games...I’ll do something else to you.”
He said as he walked closer to the edge of the glass with a smile on his face.
“Oh really like what?”  You said half amused at his way of intimidation.
Suddenly he slammed his hand and arm up at the glass making a loud echoing sound making you take a step back as he starred directly at you.
“When I leave this prison. I will take you, slowly, intimately in everyway that I see fit.”
You honestly were a bit shocked by his sudden exclamation as he stared at you like daggers could pierce you at any moment.
“Am. I. Clear?”
Seeing him stare at you made you shudder for a moment before you looked at his hand on the glass making a smile slowly appear on your face.
“If you get out. Which won’t happen.”
You said taking a step forward closer to the glass seeing his smile grow a bit bigger at your words but he shook his head.
“Oh no.”
His arm slowly lowered back to his side. His smile slowly fading as he spoke.
“Not if darling, When.”
You turned your body away from him, you could hear him stepping forward in the cell, looking at him over your shoulder you saw him staring down at you, you secretly thought to yourself that it was quite attractive that he was taller than you and from what you could tell, his breathing was slightly quicker than before.
“We will see about that, handsome.”
“What?”
Loki said with a perplexed look on his face as you turned to leave, you could feel his eyes on your body following your every step. Loki was walking with you, following you though he was stopped short when you went back out the door to the others. He stood there a little flabbergasted from what she just said leaving him alone in the cell at least for now.
In the other room you smiled as Nat saw you as left the god silent for once since he had been brought here. Even she knew that Thor didn’t have that power.
“He will be trouble for you now that you have managed to silence him.” You heard from the hall to see Thor walking next to you and Nat.
“Nothing I can’t handle Thor. After all he isn’t the first man who thought he knew everything about me.”
Thor chuckled as Nat looked at the monitor seeing Loki was sitting down simply waiting for what ever they decided to do with him next.
“He seems uncomfortable.” Nat said not looking away from the screen.
“Of course he would he is after all in a cell.” Thor said
“No I mean he looks like he just got told the secret of the millennium.”
“Perhaps the lady Y/n got to him.”
“Or he has a scheme in mind.’
Thor was silent for a moment.
“I mean …your not wrong.”
You looked over at the monitor, Nat was right. Though he was just sitting he was jittering, his foot was tapping the ground and he would look up at the camera every once in a while. but that stopped just as soon as it started as he took a deep breath and gave a small smile to the camera. He knew you could see him but perhaps it was just another one of his ways to test you. You had to admit it was odd though you were glad that you had managed to get under his skin...at least for now.
“Nat perhaps you should see to him. I don’t think he will speak to me, if he focuses too much on me instead of the questions we will get nowhere.”
Suddenly the doors opened to Fury walking in.
“Agent Natasha, see if you can find out his sudden interest in Y/n. As for you Y/n unless I give you the order. Keep away from him in the meantime, most likely he is looking to use you as a way to escape.”
“No problem for me. Besides I liked messing with him, perhaps not seeing me for a bit will rile him up a bit more.”
“Lets not joke about such things when the possibility of Loki escaping is now higher than I’d like.”
“Yes sir.”
Fury nodded and walked out with Thor and you following to join the others in the meeting room who were watching as well what had transpired in the cell. Now everyone was even more focused as Nat walked into the room making you smile, if anyone could get information out of him it would be her.

Summary: You meet the Avengers for the first time when someone crashes the party. (Rough Draft I never planned to publish)
Tumblr media
You drive on the highway, keeping the 40s station on and letting the calm melody fill the car. The sounds rock you into comfort as you de-stress. You turn up the volume as Helen Forest comes on and you hum along absent mindedly. Steve smiles, watching you in the corner of his eye.
Steve and you have been officially dating for a month now. Or as Steve says, "going steady." Which you think sounds cuter. He says he has something special planned for today and it excites you. He never keeps secrets from you, so it must be big.
You sit shotgun as Steve drives down the high way. You turn up the music and roll down the window a bit more. Even though this act allows you to hear the thunderous sounds of the high way, sounds so loud it drowns out the music and makes you have to shout to be heard, you love it. You love the breeze in particular, if you can even call it that.
You love sensation the cold gust adds to your sences, making you feel alive and tricking you into thinking you are driving faster than the steady 70 mph Steve keeps the car at. Or maybe it's deeper than that. Maybe it reminds you of your first date with Steve, how you rode on his motorcycle and had the wind in your face then.
Steve gently closes the car door once you are parked, immediately intertwining his hand with yours. He rubs circles on the back of your hand in a reassuring nature as you look at the building. Stark Tower...Avengers Tower.
"So. I am going to meet your co-workers?" You question in a casual tone as you straighten out your dress. He smiles at you. You always played everything off like it was nothing. You could handle whatever was thrown at you. He knows you are very nervous on the inside though. Trying to show strength.
You enter the elevator and are whisked away to another floor, high up in the tower. You feel your stomach sink at the thought of meeting the superheroes. You do not want to make a bad impression. The elevator door opens slowly and you make your way into the living room area, Steve still holding your hand.
   You're suprised to see that a party is going on. Natasha is by the bar, talking to Bruce Banner. Rhode is sharing his war machine story with a group of girls. The other Avengers are mingling with cheerful guests.
"We were just trying to figure out who can pick this up." Tony says, walking out of the way to reveal Thor's hammer dramatically. "Up for the challenge? It's sort of like an initiation." He says in a cool tone. After hearing all the stories Steve tells you, you know there is some kind of trick to it.
 "Stark." You hear Steve warn with a slight growl in his threatening tone. He did not appreciate the billionaire trying to poke fun at you. Tony swings his arm over your shoulder, whisking you away to the table.
"Oh, loosen up Spangles. I am sure your girlfriend can handle it." He says nonchalantly. You look over your shoulder at Steve.
"Spangles?" You mouth to him in confusion. Steve shrugs back at you. You sit next to Steve on a couch. The hammer sits on a table in the middle of you all. You walk up to the hammer and grab it. You manage to lift it up less than an inch, so no big deal. Thor can wave it around like nothing after all.
"Goodness!! Is this thing made of steel or something?" You question, rolling and massaging your wrist. You look up to see all of the Avengers look at you in shock.
"Was I not suppose to be able to do that?" You question innocently, pointing to the hammer as you continue to massage your wrist.
"Nope." Hawkeye says blutly, taking a sip from his drink. Everyone looks at you in shock and Thor seems nervous.
Blackwidow steps forward. "You see only Thor can pick up the hammer since only he is worthy. If you can pick it up, you can technically rule Asgard." She tries not to laugh as the others go on with their humorous conversions. Not wanting the party mood to die out even if you did just do a remarkable feat.
You walk back over to Steve and he holds you closely, a proud smile on his face. You sit on the couch with him and watch the others attempts. Hawkeye is first. After seeing you pick it up, he figures it will be a piece of cake. Thor just makes the possibility of picking up Minjor seem impossible with the whole, "you must be worthy," thing. You watch him take a deep breath and try to pick up the hammer. He is suprised to find it will not budge and Clint soon gives in.
 Tony tries next. Picking up the hammer, he uses the leather strap as leverage. When that does not work he brings out his Iron man glove and activates the thrusters, but still it will not budge. Nothing seems to work, after one more attempt with Rhodes help and the Iron man gloves, Mr.Stark gives up.
Then it is Banner. He yanks at it and soon seems a bit upset that it will not move. As a joke he pretends to turn into Hulk with cheesy yells. You quietly laugh at his actions, but no one else reacts.
"I'd like to see you pick it up." Stark challenges Steve. Steve shrugs and walks towards the hammer. He wraps his arm around the handle, his muscles become more prominent. You see the hammer move slightly, catching Thor off guard. Thor seems afraid, more afraid than when you picked it up. No one else seems to really notice though.
Everyone continues to joke around and laugh, drowning out the achievement the Captain just made. You smile at him, showing that you noticed and value his achievement. He is about to say something, when a high pitched sound rings through the room. Everyone covers their ears to lessen the sharp screeching tone. Once it's over you see everyone tence, ready to fight. Agent Hill loads a gun and hides it under the table.
You turn around to see a robot in the door way. It looked like one of Tony's broken Iron Man suits. The mouth is cracked and some limbs are missing, loose wires take their place. Steve pushes you behind him, that way he can protect you if something happens. You manage to stand on your toes and see over his shoulder.
The robot moves forward cautiously. Its movements are sharp and stiff, as if its getting use to movement and life. No one breaks the silence as you all wait to see what the new threat has to say. It stares at you, then looks to everyone else.
You are too distracted by the looming threat of a fight to focus on the speech the robot prepared. Everything that occurs once it's done happens quickly.
Natasha jumps over the bar counter and Banner quickly follows her. You try to find cover as more of Tony's rogue safety bots fly in. Nat slides a pistol over to you. You snatch it and load it before shooting at a robot that has targeted you. In the corner of your eye you see Clint jumping on the back of a robot. Thor hits them around and Steve uses his shield. Hill continues to shoot them down with quick and precise shots. Through teamwork, the robots fall one at a time.
You use your rounds on a robot that is going after doctor Helen Cho as she hides in a corner, totally vulnerable and unarmed. The robot quickly looks towards you and rushes at you, that's when your gun clicks. Your nerves suddenly act up as you lose the feeling of power, control and security you had, hiding behind the weapon.
A repulsor ray suddenly shoots out and goes clean through the robot's head. The repulsor leaves behind a base ball sized hole, with red hot edges, proving how deadly one blast can be. You give Tony a grateful smile, before guiding Dr.Cho to safety.  You keep her behind you for the rest of the fight, with a newly loaded gun.
You do not bring her out until it is silent and you see Thor's hammer destroy the head suit. The lead robot seemed to crumble into pieces and shatter due to the sheer force of the hammer.
You let out a sigh of relief and guide the doctor to the middle of the room. She is still shaken, but who could blame her.

Thor Odinson Quote Prompt #2: “I desire any physical touch with you so please hit me more.”
Tumblr media
[Warnings: Yandere Themes *Obviously*, Minor Violence, mentions of injuries but no descriptions.]
Thor wasn’t slated to be joining on the mission that you were currently running for the first time, it was your responsibility to lead your team.
Out of nowhere however Thor showed up making things much more complicated because he wasn’t on the comms to receive orders from you.
Eventually the job got done much more violently and with far more bloodshed than you had intended going into it.
Everything had gone wrong once he showed up when before it was all going according to plan, ensuring that you knew what you were doing.
Now you felt like you let your squad down even if you didn’t actually do anything wrong, but that is what being a leader is, taking ownership of those wrongs even if they weren’t involved in them.
Getting back onto the jet you took your seat in the co-pilot's chair staring out the front as the back door closed and you were lifting off from the ground.
Thor didn’t get on instead he just teleported back to the Tower feeling bad that you seemed upset with him, wondering what he possibly did that was so wrong?
In his mind he was there to protect you and keep you from harm, not caring for a moment about the lives of others all he was focused on was you, you were his utmost priority.
Heading for home you couldn’t help but let the rage build inside of you as you replayed the day's events in your mind, counting each transgression that Thor committed that undermined your authority.
None of your team spoke, all of them being too exhausted to really converse, some of them pretty badly injured but being taken care of by the on board doctor that usually came as a precaution.
Those wounds should have never happened though, and the main problem in your eyes is that he put them in harm's way, almost getting them killed by showing up out of the blue.
Touching down in the bay of the Tower he was standing there waiting for you to deboard the jet so that he could congratulate you on a job well done, but you walked right past him without uttering a single word.
Following you close behind he was trying to ask you what was wrong, trying desperately to figure out why you were so upset with him, not getting any answer until you were both behind closed doors.
Angrily you spat out how he had ruined your mission and put people you were supposed to look after in danger by his actions, completely disregarding that it was your first mission that you were in charge of.
Each word you punctuated by hitting his chest with your closed fist, each hit doing absolutely nothing to a literal God but that didn’t matter to you, you had to make him see how he hurt you by not trusting you to be able to do your job.
Taking in your words he did start to understand where you were coming from, but still his main and only priority is making sure that you are safe, anything after that didn’t matter as much at least to him.
Apologizing to you despite not actually having any regrets about what he had done, he just wanted you to think that he did so you wouldn’t be mad at him anymore.
Turning to walk away he stopped you earning a few more hits to the sternum still only bruising your knuckles not so much as leaving a mark in your wake despite using all the force you could muster.
“I desire any physical touch with you so please hit me more.”
Stopping you in your tracks as you looked him in the eyes for the first time since the argument began, seeing that he was serious, there was no joking in his expression, just pure admiration almost.
Telling him that he is crazy before slapping him across the face lightly, making a huge grin form before he picked you up slamming you down on your giant mattress the two of you typically shared unless he was gone to Asgard.
Starting to tickle you until you couldn’t help but give in and start laughing, slowly starting to forgive him as it was rare that you could truly stay mad at him for longer than a few minutes at most.
Stilling his attacks against you once he felt it was adequate enough to make you indulge him a little longer, he told you he was sorry yet again and promised that he wouldn’t do it next time.
While you were hesitant you decided to accept his words as fact, letting him give you a soft kiss before you got up to go get a shower, your ritual after a mission needing the hot water to relax your aching muscles.
As you wandered away from him, his mind was racing with ways to still be with you the next time you led a mission, deciding to talk to Steve and make sure that he was a part of your team every single time whether you wanted it or not, it wouldn’t be up to your discretion anymore.
[Another Quote prompt down, and we are almost to the end of this batch my lovely anon sent me! Only a few more to go! I hope that you enjoy this, I thought it would be something that Thor would definitely do. <3]

Tumblr media
When you reached Frigga's room you knocked twice, but no response came. You figured she must be in bed by now, Martha always makes sure she's in bed and then only she leaves. You were about to leave but then you heard her faint voice
"Loki is that you?"
You opened the door slowly and she was on the bed reading a book so you walked towards her. She had her reading glasses on..
"Something wrong dear?" She noticed your red eyes and puffy face so you sat down on the edge of the bed.
"I ..uhh I had to ask something"
"Go on" she smiled at you and you took a deep breath.
"Is Loki..are you guys from Asgard?" If one thing you could never learn to do is be pretentious when communicating with someone, If you have a doubt or you want to share something you just say it out loud straight away, so that's what you did.
"He told you?" She kept her book on the bedside drawer and you nodded
"Two weeks ago, actually I figured it out"
"I don't doubt that you did, did you believe him?" She asked you and that's when you started to sob, you were not ready to hear the truth, however you wanted to be there for him no matter what the case was.
"I did.. but today Thor ..he said something that made me doubt the truthfulness of it. It sounds too fake to be true even though it might be..all I want to know is if he was lying or if he made it up because he's suffering?"
She teared up before she answered.
"Tell me one thing dear, forget about what Thor said for a minute, do you think he made this all up?"
"Noo that's why it hurts so bad because I know he won't lie to me like that , he's hurt and he has suffered so much but he's not out of touch with reality, when he told me his truth I could see how genuine he was being, and now I made him feel as if I doubted his truth and it's killing me" you sobbed as you finished talking and she pulled you into a hug to calm you down
"See? You know the answer yourself..trust your heart and go with it"
You looked up at her and nodded. She has always talked in riddles and you could never understand why. But one thing that you knew was that he wasn't lying about his heritage and even if he was, you'd help him heal from that. But you were not going to abandon him again.
After you talked to her, you went back to his room, he still wasn't back and it was hard to sleep without him by your side and with so much running in your head. He asked you to not call him so you didn't, you waited for an hour and that's when he finally twisted the lock of the door and entered the bedroom
You were on the bed, laying on your side so he laid next to you
"Where were you?"
"Bar"
"Drinking?"
"Nooo..just wanted to be alone"
You interlinked your fingers with his to assure him that you weren't going to run or disappear on him.
"I believe you Loki, I believed you when you told me the truth, your truth.."
"You think I'm crazy"
"I don't..I wouldn't be here if I felt so"
"Why are you still here birdy? Am I not suffocating you?" He sniffled so you scooted closer to him and got on top of him, you cupped his cheeks to wipe his tears, then you kissed his forehead.
"You are suffocating me..you always did since the beginning. But I love being asphyxiated because I love how you drown me with your love and care, I love that you won't even let anyone talk to me rudely or raise their voice at me, I love that you support my dreams and want me to fulfill each one of them..I love how you would never judge me for anything, you suffocate me with how considerate you are and I love it, that's why I'm here because I want to be there for you like you have been for me.. I love you and care about you, I want to spend each and every second with you, when you're not there my eyes look for you, when you're not in my arms my heart feels empty. Stop trying to push me away Loki you can't..if it was me with a troubling past would you leave me? No right? Then don't expect me to do that either"
He flipped you on the side and then he hid himself in your warm embrace, sobbing as much as he needed to. We care for our loved ones when they are physically hurt then why is it so easy to give up on them when they're suffering mentally? You kept caressing his head, you didn't ask him to stop, you allowed him to let it all out and then he spoke.
"I didn't lie to you or made it up I promise birdy I promise"
"I know..I know baby..I'm sorry I let Thor get into my head and I'm sorry I doubted you" he pulled away from you and sat up on the bed. Your heart broke for him, he seemed so happy just a few hours ago and thor ruined it like he has done before.
"I'm broken, I have been broken for as long as I can remember.."
"Baby.."
"Let me finish please"
You sat next to him and placed your hand on his.
"After I killed Odin, I tried to kill myself" your whole body froze as he confirmed one of the suspicious you had about him. You always wondered if he ever tried to harm himself more than just getting beaten up.
"That feeling of killing someone? Taking his life out of him, watching his lifeless body as he took his last breaths, it was odd ..it was the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Worse than anything and everything Odin put me through, he deserved it .I know that he did But when I came back home to mama with his blood all over me, she knew, she just looked me right in the eyes and she knew..she knew that I killed her husband, took him away from her, forever. The disappointment that I saw in her eyes, I just.. I couldn't go on.. living like that"
You wiped your tears and placed your head down on his shoulder to comfort him.
"Maybe it wasn't disappointment loki, maybe it was worry that you saw in her eyes..what happened after that baby..let it all out okay I'm here" he placed his other hand on top of yours before he spoke further.
"Popped some pills, everything I could find, waited for it to end, all of it. The pain, the guilt, the abuse, I just wanted it all to end, disappear forever, cease to exist. But Heimdall found me, he made me hurl it all out forcefully, then I passed out. My healing ability saved me from any internal damage. I lived. When I opened my eyes I found her crying profusely. That was the moment where I decided that I would provide her a good life, I would work hard and give her everything she'd ever need, and I did..in five years, I got her out of that dingy studio apartment into this mansion, sent her on foreign trips, and gave her a lavish lifestyle, but I'll never be forgiven for what I did..I took her husband, tried to kill myself, and kept her away from Thor..or tried to atleast, they have been seeing each other from years. All this time I have only tried to get rid of my guilts and give her the life she should have gotten"
You held him tightly and once he stopped talking you held onto his cheeks and made him look at you.
"She never would have been happy with him in her life, you protected her, you saved her Loki, you did what any other son would have.. except Thor maybe"
He chuckled as he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you on his lap.
"I was broken, have been all my life..I only wanted to make her happy, but then I met you.. and even after knowing everything about me, you're still here.. holding me, trusting me, loving me. And you made me happy..I had never been happy before, didn't know what it was like to feel that way..but with you..I felt happy. I don't blame you for doubting my truth. It did hurt, that's why I had to leave and be alone so I could think about it from your perspective. I am broken yes, but I'm not crazy, i didn't feed you lies or whatever Thor said that I did"
You felt your heart breaking at how sad he sounded.
"I know baby I know..I'm sorry about that..I'm sorry about everything..I just want you to be happy. Just want you to heal from your past, and leave it behind where it should be..move on with me, you deserve a good life Loki, you always did and I want to make one with you..I'm not leaving baby okay? We will heal from this..I'll be here and I'll help you I promise..you'll get all the help and care, all the love I promise you"
"Thank you birdy, thank you for yelling at me from the crowd, thank you for saving my life that day" the memories from that night made you smile and tear up..how was it possible that the worst day of your life was also the best day of your life? You met him that day and you wouldn't give it up or change it for anything.
"Shhhhh now I love you okay?" You kissed his forehead and wiped his tears, he couldn't stop looking at you, his eyes stayed glued to your face
"You love me"
"I do baby.. I love you so much and I'm going to love you like this all the time"
"You love me..I'm loved" he repeated again, you didn't know if he was asking you or assuring himself, you just wanted to stay there until his heart would stop thumping in his chest
"I love you..yes baby I love you"
"You love me..and I love you"
When he stormed out of your room you thought you'd lose him again, he'd push you away again and you'd lose him. But he came back, you weren't surprised that he tried to give up on his life, he has endured more than any person should ever have to, not just mental or emotional abuse, but physical too and he still wanted to give his mother a good life. He still was selfless even after everything that could have changed him into a different person altogether.
Next morning when he woke up, he didn't find you in the bedroom so his first instinct was to look for you. He found you in the kitchen though, then he watched you move around and cook in one of his t-shirts, your hair was dripping wet and he figured you took a shower already so he did the same and came back to you.
"Good morning little thing, what are you making?" He wrapped his arms around your waist, and pressed his chin on your shoulder.
"Good morning..I know you don't want to eat unhealthy stuff so I learned this healthy veggie sandwich recipe, I'm gonna make it for you and you're going to eat it"
He chuckled and pecked your cheeks.
"Okay I will.. you want coffee?"
He asked you and you nodded frantically. He turned on the coffee machine and then went to check on Frigga. She said she'd be out soon so he came back to you and held you from behind again, he'd move when you did. He didn't leave you even for a second. Once in a while you turned your head around and kissed him. That made him smile, it made his soul happy.
"I was thinking about doing a job" you mumbled to him and he just hummed in response as he thought about it.
"Like the one you used to do in NY? You can't dance for a while darling"
"Not as an instructor, there's this studio nearby and they require someone to work the front desk. I talked to them a few days ago and they seemed interested, I can do that" he turned you around and kissed your forehead.
"Is that what you want sweetheart?" You sighed as he asked you that, not really but doing something would be better than nothing.
"I don't want to sit around and live off you.. I'm already living here free of cost and I know..I know what you'll say but I just need to do my own thing"
"You know I would never stop you from doing that.. When do you want to start? Can I still make sure you'll be dropped and picked up safely please?"
He asked you softly so you nodded. He wondered how you'd like to have your own studio where you can be your own boss, he had the finances for it. But maybe he'll talk to you about it later, now didn't seem like the right time.
"I can start next week, 5 days a week, 6 hours only so that's not much.. I wanted to talk to you about it first" he nodded as he heard you then he kissed you softly.
"Thank you for talking to me, I appreciate that birdy, I just want you to be safe and happy" you smiled and peppered kisses on his chest then you went back to preparing the sandwiches, Loki  helped you make eggs and bacon for Frigga, she loves that.
"At Least put a shirt on while you're playing around with hot pans" you heard Frigga's voice as she wheeled in and giggled. He shook his head and walked over to her to hug her.
"Good morning Ms Frigga" you smiled at her and she returned the smile. The happiness on both of your faces made her believe that everything was alright and perfect like she thought it would be.
"Are you alright? Did you get hurt during your fight?" She asked him as she caressed his cheeks and he shook his head.
"Are you never going to watch me fight?" He questioned her, she never watches his fight .
"And watch you get hurt? No absolutely not" she ruffled his hair and that made you smile. She seems fine but with her illness you always fear that something bad will happen soon. It's inevitable at this point. After breakfast you were all watching a movie, when you saw Thor entering the living room. What the fuck was he doing here now?
"Hello mum, little brother..lady y/n, nice to see you all" Loki stood up instantly and so did you.
"What makes you think you could just barge into our home like that?"
Loki asked him and Thor snickered.
"Calm your titties, mum invited me" Loki ran his hands through his hair and glared at Frigga.
"Calm down, both of you, I need to talk about something but before that, apologize to y/n for last night..for lying to her" She looked at Thor and Thor looked perplexed to say the least.
"Mum, what are you doing?" He questioned her and she sighed.
"Apologize now"
He huffed and looked at you..
"I'm sorry lady y/n that I lied to you" he said nonchalantly and you could tell that he didn't mean his apology. You didn't say anything in response.
"I don't have much time left.."
"Mama"  "Mum"
Thor and Loki called out to her at the same time and she shushed them both up.
"Let me finish..I don't have much time left, and I want to tell Loki the complete truth about everything that has happened in last few months"
"What are you talking about?" His eyes teared up and so did yours. What Is this now? What is the truth?
"Mum this is not what we.."
Thor meddled again but she glared at him..
"Enough Thor..don't you see it? Look at them..we got what we wanted" she smiled at you, you didn't realize you were holding onto his arms so he wouldn't lose his cool
"What's happening here?" Loki's eyes teared up as he asked her that. And she smiled
Then she told you both everything, everything she asked Thor to do in the past few months. And the reason made you upset, angry, livid even, but couldn't blame her for doing what she did to protect him finally, something she failed to do all her life because of Odin.
So she did whatever she had to do to save her son, to save Loki. From himself.

Hey! Could I request a fic where the reader and Bucky like each other and she has to pretend she’s Zemo’s girlfriend for the Madripor mission? Bucky gets jealous and all that jazz and they confess their feelings :)
Madripoor Muse
Pairing | Bucky Barnes x reader
Summary | Bucky harbours feelings for you, but despite Sam’s inflatable encouragement, refuses to inform you of them. However, seeing you pretend to be Zemo’s girlfriend whilst on a mission, more so when the criminal knows what strings he is pulling at, happens to infuriate him inevitably.
Warnings | jealousy, violence, references to sex work (there is nothing wrong with it, everyone is free to do what they want or need to do to get by, angst, mentions of death, grief, smut, unprotected sex, fluff, swearing
Quick link to my masterlist, if you’re interested in reading more of my crap 😬

“I mean, if he looks like a pimp, then I look like one of his workers.” Sam snorted at your words, as Bucky’s eyes trailed down the skin that was exposed through the small piece of fabric, that in modern days, was considered a dress.
Zemo simply sighed at the pair of you, shaking his head as though the former winter soldier would understand his point. “It’s Madripoor, not an american graduation. You are not going to be clothed in long robes in this place, expression is in the body, and how it is clothed.”
“Or not clothed.” Bucky retorted, frowning at how you shuffled beneath the criminal’s gaze, crossing your arms, which definitely did not help the situation, considering that it did nothing more than make your breasts rise. Admitting defeat, you let them fall, holding them to your sides, outlining your hips, which once more, was not how you wished to be portrayed as you walked through the illuminated air, careful to keep pace in your heels.
“We all have a part to play, winter soldier.” Helmut spoke, his accent causing waves to ripple through the euphoria of lights that lay up ahead. “I am me, you are you, Sam is the Smiling Tiger, and...”
“I’m a hooker?” Once more, Zemo showed disappointment, pinching the bridge of his nose as he turned to you. It seemed that tonight, you, a smart and well coordinated avenger, was absolutely adoring testing his patience, but that was his trick.
He was the captive here, forced to help the forsaken superheroes that had prompted him with the idea of escaping from the government’s ensured facility. And it was without a doubt that he would mess with their minds each chance that he got.
“No, think of yourself as more personalised to one person than that y/n. Your as you people say ‘arm candy’.” He used quotations with his fingers, causing you to reach for Sam’s arm to assume the role. “Oh no, not his.” Zemo made a come here motion, making you gulp.
“You’re kidding, right?” Bucky huffed, glaring unimpressed towards the Baron, who only tutted in reply, implying that he indeed was serious. “This is stupid.”
“Stupid would be allowing this hurrah of new age super soldiers to continue their war path, don’t you think James?” Zemo asked condescendingly, holding his arm out for you to grasp onto, so that you would look more than an associate, or a serum induced bodyguard.
“Me posing as your sugar baby is stupid.” You muttered, as you walked, Bucky on look out behind you, as he glared frustratedly at where you and the mass murderer were touching.
Zemo tugged you by the arm for the comment, causing you to roll your eyes at the man that had tried his best and succeeded, at destroying your team; your family. Nevertheless, you followed his stride, well aware of the sharp eyes of the man behind you.
As you entered the club, a spectrum of blue lights illuminated your skin, as you stared around in wander. There was a variety of all didn’t people, born from different virtues, wealths and races all intermingling around in the space.
If Zemo didn’t have a leash on your arm, you’d have stared for a little longer, perhaps even gotten purposely lost in the sea of bodies that flashed with such ambition and prospect. All were designed to suit their surroundings, and you wished that you could fit in that easily too.
But you were lost, roped into this journey by the Falcon, the man that denied Steve’s wishes and passed on the shield to firmer hands, still uncertain of where you were planning on going. What you needed was a fight, a reason to keep roaming upon the earth. If you came up empty, you may have well have taken up Thor’s offer, and accompanied him with his new friends.
The avengers were disbanded, dotted with different services. You’d heard nothing from Wanda, it appeared that her phone had been cut off, leaving you gravely confused, but you understood that she needed time to mourn. But you couldn’t give yourself the same pampering, if you did so, then all purpose of life would slip through your fingers, and you’d be left vulnerable, a hero that willingly fell from their graces.
Finally you reached the bar, with the shadow of the winter soldier hovering over your shoulder, watching as Zemo’s untrustworthy hand trailed along your furthest collarbone, using it as his sway to grab your attention. He set his sights upon his touch, glaring harshly at it.
No one would question the expression that he wore, it was only natural for his reputation to be proceeded with such a dagger like gaze; he was supposed to be playing the killer that he once was after all.
“My lady, what would you like to drink?” Helmut asked, turning your gaze towards his, gripping your chin between his thumb and forefinger, forbidding you from even try to look away from his sly eyes.
“White wine will do the trick, my love.” The words felt like spew falling from your mouth, but you withheld the impulse to grimace, instead, flashing him a flirtatious smile, fanning his face with your eyelashes as you were still held to face him.
“Fine choice.” He smirked, nodding towards the bartender, who had just presented the Smiling Tiger imposter with a shot that had the intestines of a snake floating around in its liquid. Out of the corner of your eye, you watched as Sam hesitated to drink it for a moment, before throwing it down the hatch, treating it as an old trick.
Madripoor, for an island trapped in violence, didn’t appear that bad on the outside. That was, until the shooting began, causing the lot of you to leg it from the citizens targeting their rifled hardware towards you, running with your lives depending on it.
You had temporarily lost Zemo, as you put head your own safety, your pace and spot being just between Sam and Bucky, as the first man’s arms flailed as he insisted that he could not run in the heels that he was wearing. Huh, you’d be running in heels all your life, maybe he shoulda learned how to do so earlier, it came as a great talent.
Gunshots rang out, as a hooded figure unveiled themselves, introducing the older face of a blonde that you had once knew. It had been quite some time since you had last seen her, all having gone your separate ways to evade the law, and its cruel jurisdiction. “Sharon?” Bucky spoke, instantly recognising the woman that had aided them in the past.
Once you were all reintroduced, and met with her annoyance, which was surely understandable, she led you to her property, where you were able to part from the Sokovian, and share your distaste to the man, as well as remove the skimpy dress.
It pooled at your feet as you tossed it from your ankle, leaving you in nothing more than your underwear. As you squinted, searching for some reason that you were continuing with this foolishness of thinking that the world still considered you a hero, an echo of a knock rattled against the door. It was metal upon wood; Bucky.
“Come in.” You spoke, as you tied a spare robe around your waist, watching as the super soldier, who appeared less stoic, and more human stepped into the room, closing the door behind his emerging shadow. “You alright man?”
Bucky’s eyes drifted down for a moment, before they splintered back up towards your face, his jaw physically tensing, the notion well visible. He breathed in a long breath through his nose, as he stepped closer, his brow harsh and lined upon his forehead.
“I didn’t like Zemo putting his filthy hands on you.” He admitted aloud, the words of Sharon, teasing him for pining after someone that he had once thought of as no more than a friend of Steve’s. But now that man was gone, and so was the one that he used to be. Instead, he was left standing on his own feet, having to find balance by himself somehow.
“Neither did I.” You informed him. “It was like he was pulling back the images of his collapsing country, pouring every ounce of pain and hatred upon me, evading my mind with guilt, and the memories of what it all amounted to. None of it had been worth it, living like this. We’re treated like animals, no longer idols or heroes, people under the big thumb that keeps pressing down on us.”
“Well we’re both pressed down, limited to our rules and the outlines they want us to obey.” He nodded, raising his flesh hand to your collarbone, wanting to mark his touch upon it to remove that of Zemo’s. At his action, your breath hitched, but you allowed him to sweep his pads over the flesh, shuffling indefinitely closer so that you were chest to chest.
“We’re dangerous in their eyes. That’s a mindset they have in common with our prisoner out there.” You whispered, frowning from the thought. Two monarchies, one still whilst the other already fallen, served the same opinions, though, only one could continue to take action. Zemo was a Baron, but of what country now?
Like all, his home had been vanquished into smithereens, the foundations collapsing into rubble, the history disappearing with its lands, having thrown its dusty remnants in your face.
“I’m fine with being considered dangerous so long as I’m not alone.” He pinched your chin, tilting your head, this time though, you felt in his grasp. It didn’t belong to that of an enemy, it was one of an ally, a friend. “Tell me I’m not alone y/n.”
“I’m here James.” You stared up at him with focused pools, biting your lip as your mind went haywire over everything. “The Wakandans will come for him, you do realise that, right?” He hummed in reply, briskly bringing his metal hand to toy with the belt of the white wrap around.
“Do you think that you could show me that I’m not alone?” He nervously asked, shuffling his weight from foot to foot, as he awaited a reply. But instead of words, he earned himself the sensation of your lips upon his, collaborating in a touch starved jumble of grunts. “You’re beautiful, like...”
“Like what Barnes?” You prompted, brushing your palms onto his shoulders, easing his tenseness. Expectedly, you watched him through half lidded eyes as you leant up to plant supple kisses upon his neck, sucking his skin into your mouth, as though you were trying to thread it gently with your teeth.
“A muse.” He sighed, thinking for a momentum, before dragging your hair through his vibranium fist, lightly grinning as he heard your breath wither from the sensation. “A beautiful muse, one that reminds me to be better everyday. I want to become someone better for you.”
“You shouldn’t.” You unlatched your mouth from him, frowning lightly at the brunette man. “You should become better for nobody but yourself Buck, each day, it’s about self growth, fixing everything that you have ever been taught so that you can learn to do better next time, so that no one else will die because of your expense.”
Bucky nodded, allowing your words to sink in. His fingers returned to playing with the waist band on your robe, his eyes gazing into your own, as he fiddled with the material. “Can I?”
“Go ahead.” You granted him permission, allowing him to push the coverage from you, his eyes widening at seeing you in nothing more than your underwear. His sight traced every curve and bump and dip that was upon your shape, licking his dry lips to make his gawking less subtle.
“You’re killing me doll.” He leant his head back, as he raked his contrasting fingertips down your shoulders, all the way to the small of your back. You smirked, grasping him through his jeans, earning yourself a moan from the elder man.
“I said it’s all about self growth, didn’t I? It seems that you are taking that in quite a literal sense.” You rubbed him through the denim, finding it unsurprising as the man backed you towards the bed, your knees hitting the end sending you falling onto the mattress.
Bucky crawled his way atop of you, rutting his hips against your own. It had been so long since he had been permitted to be this free, and he knew for sure, this would be a secret that he would not inform any therapist of. This was private, the sentiment making it close to his weathered heart.
His lips returned to your own, as your hands scaled beneath your shirt, lightly tracing the scars. He wasn’t as insecure as he thought he’d be about someone touching them, perhaps it was because many of your own materialised stories were written in your skin, or that you understood what it meant to be a soldier, serving under orders.
It didn’t matter too much, he wasn’t overthinking it. Instead, he was yearning as he grasped at the straps of your bra, trying to pull it over your head, as was done with the dames back in his day, but the effort seemed more difficult. Lightly leaning away from him, you reached around your back, unclamping the contraption before tossing it out of his sight.
He didn’t care to ask what the modern day had done to the garment, he was far too focused on your pert nipples, and how they stood to attention before him. The super soldier reached forwards, running his smooth hands upon the underneath of your breasts, before interacting with the present buds, softly tugging at them with his whimsical fingers.
“You’re wearing too many clothes.” Released from you as a sign, instantly becoming pleased as Bucky stripped himself from everything but his underwear, leaving a nest of his clothes upon the wooden floor, as he leant his head down, capturing your left nipple within the warmth of his mouth, moaning lightly as your hands weaved through his locks, tugging lightly at the short roots. “Stop teasing Buck.”
He didn’t miss the way your eyes roll from the slowness of motions, and thus, he reached down, and snapped the band of your underwear, the ripping noise audible, as he then pulled his boxers down, revealing his bobbing cock, that was directing its tip towards your entrance.
With a glance down, he lightly drooled at the way your cunt clenched around nothing, quickly swiping his fingers through your slit, as he brought them up to his lips, humming contently at the flavour that graced his tastebuds. “Need to be in you doll.”
“Need you in me soldier.” You taunted back, digging your knuckles into his shoulders as you pressed him against you, pushing your tongue into his mouth, as he suddenly bottomed out inside of you, waiting for a moment for the pair of you to adjust to the sensations.
He was in you, filling you to the brim, as you tucked your heels into the base of his back, lightly rotating your hips up, as your tongue chased his own, sucking on it as you nipped at the end, causing him to unintentionally jerk his rigid cock into you.
That had prompted him to start moving, screwing his hands into the satin sheets either side of your head, as your bodies succumbed the others to waves of pleasure. It was a luxury, having an outlet to all the stress that your duty brought. If you could just pass the mantle on like Steve had done, and Clint was in the process of doing, you would.
But it was all you had known; the gritty route, that had spanned the entirety of your tale. And Bucky now became a part of it, as he became a part of you, unravelling your vulnerabilities with sleek thrusts into your cunt, and smooth words that had swept you from your feet and had landed you in a bed.
A bed thats structure was creaking from the strength behind the animalistic carnage that you spent on one another. His teeth pulled at your lip, opening your mouth so that you could use him as an oxygen mask. Neither one of you had noticed the door opened, and an unimpressed Sharon standing in the entry way, her agent arms crossed unamused.
She cleared her throat, which made Bucky still inside of you, and you to clutch onto his back, to cover the decency of your chest. “You let me go on the run, then you fuck in my bed. It’s like I’m not allowed to belong anywhere.”
“Sharon-“ she halted your speech by raising a finger, her eyebrows pointedly telling you not to bother trying to speak, as sweat beading down your body. Bucky subtly rolled from atop of you, quickly pulling the sheets over you both, giving Sharon views that she neither wanted nor appreciated.
That was grittiness, she was a hustler, not a once avenger. A part of you wished she would understand that, as much as it would be painful to hear, she hadn’t been the top of anyone’s list. She had disappeared, and from so, she had became unreachable, practically falling off the face of the earth.
But she had been here, in Madripoor, the island of bones and whatever else Zemo had described it to be. “You two fucked in my bed. Okay.” She remained cool headed, her eyes trailing through the various fabrics among her floor. “Thought I’d tell you to get ready, and to blend in, though you two have that part already figured out. There’s some clothes in the wadrobe, and from what I can tell, you’re going to need new underwear.”
She bothered no longer once she had informed you of what she had told the other men. Instead she simply left, only for you to brace your head back into the quality pillows, slumping, and dreading the journey ahead.
Though you seemed restless, Bucky still thought of you as a muse. His hands grasped your chin, leading your lips to his own, as he sucked on your bottom one, his right hand grasping one of your breasts, as he pulled you atop of him, your skin flushed as you steadied your weight over his tough thighs.
“Now this is a dangerous sight.” He clicked his teeth, trailing his large hand down from your jaw, surpassing the middle of your chest, to your hip, which he grasp, as he shuffled you up just a little, so that you were seated upon the base of his cock.
“I can show you dangerous Barnes.” You smirked, adjusting the both of you so you were ready to sink down on his length. Your hands softly stroked his erect shaft, as you tapped his tip upon your pussy, before pushing down, filling yourself up one more.
Madripoor was a bad place, but good things could come out of visiting the skull island. This was the job, though, breaks were prompted, and were you glad that Bucky had became your little bit of calm in the arising trouble in the world.
“Fuck.” He groaned beneath you, his balls clenching as he felt you writhe all the way down to his base, beginning to bounce upon him, the years of training that you had endorsed coming in handy as it had helped your stamina. He was a super soldier after all, you were surely going to need it.

Loki decides then to take his time to make her feel safe again and they eventually fall for each other.

Tony storms into his sister's apartment. After standing outside of her door for a half hour, he bashed in the door at the the sound of a scream from inside. Frantically, he pushes his way around the furniture and bursts into your bedroom. His eyes go wide at the sight of you on the floor in a ball and your ex boyfriend above you with a fist out. Stark grabs your ex’s fist and rips him away from you, pushing him into your dresser.
“Get the fuck out!” Tony screams.
“Oh, the great Tony Stark is here. What are you going to do? Drop a bomb on me?”
You’ve never seen Tony’s skin turn so red. He storms forward and punches your ex square in the nose, sending him down on the ground. Tony unleashes all his energy until the man is left with a broken nose and multiple bruises.
“Get. Out.”
Your ex runs out of your room, without missing the chance to break a few things, and out of your apartment. You look up out of your ball to see Tony rushing to your side with panic in his eyes. He lifts up your head as you climb into his lap.
“Come here, darling. You’re okay. You’re safe now.” He coos.
You cry into the crook of his shoulder as he rocks you back and forth, his hand on your back.
“I’m getting you out of here,” He says, placing you on your bed, “I’m taking you to the tower with us.”
Tony leaves you on your bed as he gets a suitcase and packs your things. He gathers all of your clothes and some of your possessions like books, drawings, and others. You can feel the tears starting to dry on your skin as you stop crying. Tony doesn’t miss the way you start to uncurl and the bruises on your neck show up. His face drops to see the choking marks on your neck.
“I’m… so sorry, Y/N. I should have been here to protect you.”
You shake your head at him as he joins you on the bed. Tony reaches around your head to undo your ponytail and cover the bruises.
“There, now no one will ask you about them.”
You give him a gentle smile which eases him a little. He leans forward and kisses your forehead before taking your hand and helping you up. Tony and you walk out of your building and into the garage where Happy is in the car. He drops you off for five minutes to go talk to your landlord about you leaving.
“You’re going to be okay,” Happy reassures you.
“Thanks,” you manage to get out.
He gives you a warm smile. He has always made you smile throughout the years. Tony comes back, joins you in the car, and takes off to the tower.
Upon arrival, you look up at the large tower in awe. You’ve visited a couple of times, but that was a year ago since your ex didn’t allow you to see Tony much. It’s always been impressive. You were thankful for Tony letting you live on your own and make something of your own life instead of letting you mooch off of his fortune, but you do regret sometimes not letting him support you more. You were always so proud of him.
Tony carries your luggage as he leads you to the elevators. He looks down at you every so often, noticing the anxious way you bite your nails.
“You’re safe here. We have the best security and you’ll be surrounded by trained assassins and heroes. They’ll protect you, I promise.”
You nod your head at Tony’s words. As much as they help you, you don’t really want to see or talk to anyone. After having your ex break into your house every day for two weeks, you want to be alone except for the occasional visit from Tony.
The elevator doors open and reveal you and your brother to the Avengers who are all lounging in the living area. They turn to look at you with puzzled faces, making you nervous and hide behind Tony’s arm. He lets you stay behind him instead of forcing you to say hi as you exit the elevator.
“Everyone, this is my sister, Y/N. She’s going to stay here from now on so be nice to her,” Tony announces.
Everyone says hi to you but you stay silent behind Tony. He doesn’t question it even though the others look at one another in concern. Steve thinks to himself that you can’t be that rude, but given the way you look, everything must be very different to you from the rest of your life. You look shocked and scared.
Looking at the Avengers, you take in each and everyone’s appearance. Bucky and Nat look the scariest in your opinion and you make a mental note to stay away from them. Sam, Steve, and Clint look nice, but Wanda looks like the sweetest lady in the universe. She has a smile that warms your heart. Turning to your right, you see two very tall men standing and staring at you.
The taller one has blonde hair and a big grin on his face. He has a large stature, but he does not look intimidating. He has a golden retriever energy to him, but the man next to him is a different story. With his pitch black hair and powerful stand, the other man stares at you with daggers in his eyes. He sends shivers down your spine without saying anything.
You drag your eyes away from the intimidating man and follow Tony down the hallway. He leads you to your room where you get settled in, unpacking your clothes and putting away your things. Laying in the bed, you take a big nap which is needed. You feel as if you let out a breath you’ve been holding for days. The idea of being away from your ex finally settles in and you feel the wave of relief wash over your body, letting you drift away into sleep.
You’re woken up by Tony letting you know dinner is being served. He lets you know that you’re not being expected to come out and eat with everyone, which you appreciate. Ten minutes later, he comes by your room and slips a plate of food in your room as he opens the door, letting you eat alone.
Tony returns to the living room by the other Avengers eating and gathered around the couch. He takes his plate and sits next to Pepper who has her own food, smiling at him as he joins.
“So, your sister?” Sam asks.
“Don’t even think about it. She is not to date any of you.”
“Woah, I didn’t say that,” Sam laughs.
“But we know what you meant,” Steve chuckles, rolling his eyes, “She seems shy.”
“She is. You probably won’t get a lot out of her.”
“Can I ask why she’s staying her?”
“No.”
Steve shares a look with Bucky. The elevator door opens and Peter walks into the living room.
“You guys started dinner without me?” He asks, jokingly.
“Early birds get the worm,” Steve laughs.
The group chuckles and keeps eating their food.
“Is Y/N a new Avenger?” Steve asks.
Tony sighs and rolls his eyes at the question. Everyone notices the annoyance in Tony with talking about you and collectively decide to stop asking questions. It’s clear he doesn’t want to talk about you much.
“No, she’s not.”
“Who’s Y/N?” Peter asks.
“I’ll fill you in later,” Nat replies.
The day goes by fast and you find yourself staring out at New York in the moonlight. You have always enjoyed the night time. They say New York is the city that never sleeps, but you’ve always found peace and warmth in the New York night. Everyone goes out to party or to bed. It’s a time of joy and relaxment.
You hear the last door shut for the night, signally everyone going to bed. Looking outside of your door, you don’t spot anyone so you sprint outside to the kitchen with your empty dinner plate. Upon entering it, you search the walls for the light switch for about five minutes. There’s no other light than that except for the over. You finally find it and switch it on. As you turn around, you’re startled by the frightening black haired man standing there.
Scared, you drop your plate, shattering it on the tile floor. Your eyes go wide as you start to back up against the wall. Without saying anything, the man takes a step forward, scaring you half to death. Your mind plays tricks on you and all you can think about is your ex breaking into your home. You start to have a panic attack, sliding down against the wall, and curling up into a ball.
You miss the way Loki’s eyes go wide. He watches you descend into an anxiety attack and doesn’t know what to do, knowing he’s who caused it. Quickly, he rushes down the hallways and bangs on Tony’s doors.
“What do you want, Reindeer Games?” He groans.
“Your sister…”
Tony doesn’t wait for another word for following Loki down the corridor. He spots you panicking in the corner of the kitchen and grabs you, lifting you into his lap. You grab onto his neck and pull him close, crying into him. He lifts you up and carries you off to your room without saying a word to Loki, leaving him standing in the kitchen agape.
Not knowing what to do and unable to relax, Loki makes his way to his room and opens up an old laptop Thor had gotten him. After spending thirty minutes just to figure out how to work it, he starts googling things about you. He starts with your name and finds multiple articles on you and Tony, the Stark Industry Golden Children. You left when you were eighteen, wanting to make your own life and not follow in the family’s footsteps. He gives you credit for being yourself, something he had struggled with. He knows the feeling, not wanting to be your family.
Then a certain website catches his eye, Facebook. He finds a profile of you filled with photos and text. There are some of you with friends in the town, a couple of old coworkers wishing you a happy birthday, then there’s a photo of you with a man. There are no other photos of you with him other than this one a couple months ago. He keeps scrolling to find more photos of you with him, but they all stop after that first one. Clicking on something tagged in the caption, another profile pops up.
Y/E/N’s profile. Filled with photos of drunk nights at the club, shirtless gym time, and quotes from misogynistic authors, Loki finds himself despising this man he does not know. He scrolls through finding very little of you in his account, as if you don’t matter as much to him as he does to you. Closing his computer, Loki decided to go check on you. He’s frustrated by whoever this man is, not knowing whether he’s important or not.
Loki peeks into your room to see Tony laying next to you, brushing through your hair with his fingers. Tony looks up and meets him in the eyes. There’s slight anger, but Loki doesn’t feel pushed away. He takes a step in before Tony leans into your ear and whispers. You look up and over to Loki, but you don’t ask him to leave. Loki continues to walk into your bedroom quietly, but with a small gentle smile on his face.
“I’m sorry for scaring you earlier,” he says, “I didn’t mean to.”
“I know. Thanks,” you mutter.
Your voice is small and timid like a mouse. He can hear the hesitation in your voice, not knowing whether he should talk to you or not.
“Are… you okay?”
“Yes.”
Another awkward pregnant pause erupts between the two of you. Loki looks around your room as Tony continues to hold you. He whispers into your ear again before leaving.
“I’m going to go back to my room,” he says, “call me if you need me okay?”
“Thanks, Tony.”
“Of course, anything for my little sister.”
He kisses your forehead and heads out of your room, leaving you and Loki alone. You don’t mind his presence anymore. After Tony tells you that Loki isn’t your ex and you’re okay, you’ve accepted him.
“I have to ask… who is that man on Facebook?”
Loki gives you a quizzical look. You think for a moment about how Loki got on Facebook and what guy he’s talking about.
“His name is Y/E/N.”
Your body clenches at the sound of his name and Loki takes a step back, looking at you. He’s never seen anyone physically close up just from a name. It may be some Midgardians thing he doesn’t understand, but the way that you are shaking, he thinks otherwise. He sits down next to you and wraps his arms around your shoulders. You lean into his touch as you attempt to calm down.
He’s not here. I’m safe. He’s not here. I’m safe.
You keep repeating that in your head, reminding yourself that you’re safe in the tower like Tony said. Looking up at Loki, you see his concerned face. He cares. This man you barely know cares about you.
He’s not him. He’s not him. He’s not him.
“I don’t think I properly introduced myself. I’m being quite an ass asking you these questions without manners. I’m Loki.”
Loki, not Y/E/N. He’s not him. He’s not him.
“Well, L-Loki,” you say with a stutter, “He’s uh… my ex. Ex boyfriend.”
“Ah.”
He nods as he takes in the information at hand. Your ex, who makes you quiver in fear even over people who have done nothing to her, has no photos of you. He shares his lavish lifestyle that most would presume belongs to a single man. Loki looks back at your depressed ridden face. The color in your skin has drained from you and you’re staring blank cold at the wooden floors under your bed. Loki places a hand on your neck to move your hair and give you a light massage, but you flinch away from him before he is able.
Loki’s never seen so much fear and worry in someone’s eyes before. You jerk away from him muttering yourself, as if it were taking everything in you to not scream. He looks over you to see bruises along your neck where your hair had moved from when you moved. A wave of anger runs through his body, infuriating him. He did that to you. That’s why you’re so afraid of him.
“Did he-”
“Yes.”
Loki rises from your bed and clenches his fists. You see the anger pouring from him and rush to his side before he can storm off. You grab his arms and force him to look at you.
“Please, don’t… don’t do anything.”
“Why shouldn’t I? No man should ever do that to a woman, especially you.”
“Just let it be.”
He releases his fist but the fury in his eyes doesn't. You pull him towards you to make him sit again. Moving in closer, you lean into him. Loki wraps his arms around you and pulls you into his lap. The two of you lay down in your bed, you curled up on him as he held you, running his fingers in your hair.
For some reason, Loki feels as if he has to protect you. The way you ball up gives him this sense of innocence about you. You haven’t done anything to deserve those injuries, just live your life and try to find love. Loki always knew there was a good reason to hate Midgardians, not just for their stupidity and now he’s found it.
The two of you fall asleep without realizing it. The light from the sun peaking in the windows wakes you. Stirring in bed, you look up to see Loki under you, his arms holding you against him by your waist. You're cradled into his chest as his chin barely rests on the top of your head. Loki’s eyes flutter open at the feeling of you moving on top of him. He looks down at you and smiles.
The way the light shines on your face makes you look angelic. Your smile warms his heart and the warmth of your body against him makes his heart jump. You turn over to face him, leaning up on your shoulders over his head.
“Hi.”
“Hello, darling.”
“You slept here.”
“Both of us did, actually,” he laughs.
You drop your head laughing. Loki’s sweet laugh fills the room and blesses your ears. He’s not too bad to be around. He’s quite kind and sweet.
“Thank you for last night.”
“For what? If I remember correctly, I gave you a panic attack.”
“I mean the way you calmed me down and held me. It was needed.”
“Well, I’m glad I could do that for you.”
Loki means it when he says it. Looking at you now, there’s not much he wouldn’t do for you. You don’t deserve what the world gives you, especially that asshole Y/E/N. He would hold you for the rest of time if that meant keeping you safe.
You won’t lie either when you tell Loki he makes you feel safe. Every day before he sneaks off to his room so the others don’t know he spends the night with you, you tell him that he makes you safe. He never believes you. He’s shocked that anyone could feel safe with a monster like him, but after all to you, Loki is not him.

Read time: ~26 mins
Tumblr media
“(Y/N), could you please take a look at this once?”
Loki waltzed in through (Y/N)’s door with a file in his hand. She was reading a book, when he knocked.
“It’s pretty late. I thought you said you’d go straight to bed. What are you doing with this poor old piece of rat-food now?”
“I did. But then I couldn’t sleep. So...I thought of doing something boring enough to lull me to sleep. But this old file actually turned out to be quite interesting,” he explained animatedly. “I just couldn’t understand one part. So, here I am!”
She eyed him suspiciously as he spread his arms to accentuate his royal presence.
“That, or you wanted to see me, and this file is a flimsy excuse,” she drawled.
“Come on, darling! I’m fond of you but not to the extent that I’ll have to make lame excuses to see you. Besides, why would I need to lie to you?”
After taking a moment to consider his words, she stepped beside him and asked him to show the file.
“It is here - this part,” he pointed at a chunk of printed information.
“This one is…” She pondered aloud. “That doesn’t make sense! Loki, w-where did you get this from? That doesn’t look like any mission report or anything. It looks like...an excerpt...from...a book?”
Before she could register, a kiss landed on her cheek. It was immediately followed by Loki excitedly wishing her, “Goodnight, darling,” and vanishing into a green glow.
She stood stunned for a while. Gradually, the tingling sensation where Loki’s lips had caressed her skin began to spread like wildfire through her face, and soon she was blushing and smiling like an idiot.
“Idiot!” She cursed him as she flopped back on the bed.
After a few seconds of fiddling with the bookmark, and staring at blurred lines on the page, she closed the book, and decided to call it a night. After what Loki just did, nothing else could compare to a happier ending to the day.
As she closed her eyes, sunny memories started flooding her mind.
It had all started hardly two months ago, when they were having their usual midnight snacks, casually talking the day’s stress away, talking nonsense - just the usual best buddy night.
But then something happened: a childish game of “what-ifs”.
It was fun, for the most part, until Loki had asked her about her intentions if she met the love of her life the next day. Already stained with painful memories of past relationships and with the hopelessness about her love life, she tried her best to evade the question. But Loki, being Loki, kept proding her until she gave him a genuine reason for her frustration.
And everything changed after that. Because in trying to save the other from falling down the emotional cliff, they had saved each other. They had found each other.
She laughed softly as she remembered the hesitancy in both their hearts as they had crossed the threshold of friendship.
That was the first time that she had kissed him. On the cheek. And that was even before she had fully realised that her feelings for him were no longer platonic.
That was the first time Loki had put an arm around her and pulled her close to him.
Another giggle escaped her as she remembered the moment when the soft morning light, and a stiff back had awakened her from her sleep.
Both were still sitting in almost the same position as they had been when they were chatting.
She had found herself cocooned in the arms of Loki, her legs tangled with his, both of them safe under the thin blanket that Loki had picked while preparing for their night. Her head rested on his chest, while his rested on the top of her head.
The last thing that she remembered from the previous night was them promising each other that no matter how things turned out, they’d always be beside one another. And then Loki had pulled her closer, and gently laid her head on his throbbing chest.
It was now peacefully moving up and down with his sleepy breaths. Before opening her eyes to reality, she stole a few moments to let this feeling sink in.
When she had closed her eyes the night before, there was an excitement so high in the air that Thor’s thunder would have been ashamed. It was the hammering of Loki’s heart that had eventually put her to sleep.
The morning brought a peaceful rhythm beneath her ears. It was beautiful, it was calm, it was...reassuring. She loved it more than the thrill of the past few hours.
But no matter how long she tried to soak herself in the feeling, the incidents of the night before still seemed somewhat unbelievable. How could something months long change overnight? Was it all a mirage then, cast by the treacherous night?
The darkness of the night sets the mind free to imagine anything, take any decision. But the clarity of the day brings logic to the forefront, which sometimes turns out to be good but sometimes not so good.
But...it had felt right. She took a deep breath to clear her mind. It still felt right. That was all the assurance that she needed for the moment.
As she turned in her bed, she remembered the raspy voice in which Loki had wished her a good morning.
The close proximity, the husky, sleep-laden voice, the sudden change in the air - everything made blood rush to her cheeks and ears. Loki had sleepily chuckled at her flushed state, though he was only slightly better than her in hiding his own flustered state.
Ever since, not a single day had passed when the two of them hadn’t thanked the stars.
She used to think that she loved Loki’s friendship more than anything. She was happy to be proven wrong when she experienced Loki’s courtship.
A different flower everyday, sometimes inside her room, laid carefully near her door, sometimes on her bedside table, and on some mornings, beside her pillow.
She was used to going out with her best friend Loki, but going out with her boyfriend Loki was an experience on a whole new level. Light brushes of the fingers, sometimes an arm around her shoulder, intertwining of fingers, occasional brushes of his lips on her temple, and not-very-occasional blushes that tinted both their skins.
Every day, before parting for the day, she was blessed with bear hugs from him - something that she had never expected him to be fond of.
It was the best time of her life! Almost every doubt that she had about this relationship not working out had evaporated long ago. It was - she dared to say - perfect!
Except for one small hiccup: they had to keep everything off the radar.
For one, they were still testing the waters. No matter how happy and confident they were with one another, their newfound relationship was still at its infancy, and they didn’t want to declare anything to the rest of the team right away.
Second, everybody in the compound had been teasing both (Y/N) and Loki about “getting a room” for a long time. They didn’t want to give them the satisfaction of knowing that they were finally correct. Well, figuratively.
Unfortunately, the team did not know that they had already confessed their feelings to each other. And so, they were desperate to make the love birds see the truth of their emotions. The Avengers, tough and stubborn as they were, never gave up. And Loki and (Y/N) simply decided to play along.
For instance, around a month and a half ago, Tony had thrown one of his usual parties at the compound, and had brought a line of apparent suitors for (Y/N) and a host of gorgeous ladies and lads to introduce to Loki.
Though the new couple was initially confused at the unbridled attention, they eventually understood what was going on: Tony Stark had decided to use the age-old recipe of jealousy to crack either one or both of them.
It was fun, they both admitted later, to dance to the tune, and give the host a frowning face when he realised that neither were biting the bait. Instead, both seemed to be enjoying themselves flirting or dancing with their respective “baits”.
What escaped the eagle eyes of the team were the furtive looks that both (Y/N) and Loki threw at each other from time to time. It wasn’t easy to masquerade those longing glances with playful teases that two friends might share. But they had to.
Late into the night, after the party was over, Loki teleported into (Y/N)’s room. The security cameras were still a threat to their little secret.
“Hello beautiful!” Loki purred when she didn’t turn all her attention towards him as she usually did, but kept herself apparently busy in making the bed.
“Is this my consolation prize for all your flirting this evening?” She tried to keep it casual but her displeasure seeped into her tone.
“Ooh, someone sounds jealous,” he drawled.
“Speak for yourself, God!”
Loki stepped towards her, and gently caught her hand, putting a pause to her actions.
“Look at me. Please?”
She smiled as she faced him, but he could easily catch the facade.
“I know what you're trying to do. You can’t fool me, (Y/N).”
“And what is it that I’m doing?” She tried to question with the same casualness but her voice kept betraying her.
“You are trying to make it look like it didn’t affect you - me being with all those lovely people. But in reality, you are hurt, even if it is a tiny bit.”
Her smile faltered. Of course, she couldn’t fool the God of Lies!
Closing her eyes, she shook her head, “I don’t know why you’re saying this Loki. I’m perfectly fine! Why would I-”
“You and I understand each other perfectly,” Loki gently cut her off. “Or did you forget that?”
He reminded her of the one line - of the one realisation - that had triggered the tiniest thoughts of them being possibly together, if at all.
Realizing that all doors were closed for her, she tried to turn away from him, only to be stopped by the trickster.
“If it makes you feel any good,” he resumed, “it did burn me a bit, too, to watch you dance and laugh with those clowns.”
At this, she burst into laughter. Loki was glad at the change of mood, and allowed a few happy creases around his eyes as well.
“Is that true,” she asked, “or are you simply trying to make me feel better?”
He shrugged, “What do you think?”
“I’d like to believe that it’s true,” she confessed shyly.
“It is.”
“Well then,” she said after suppressing a wild grin that tried to crack its way through, “I guess that makes us even.”
“Guess so.”
“I’m sorry, Loki,” she sighed, “I lied earlier because I didn’t want to put any kind of pressure on you or anything. I mean...jealousy? That’s the first stage of obsession. And...I don’t want you to think that...”
“Hey,” Loki held both her hands in his, “your feelings for me will never suffocate me. On the contrary, they help me breathe. You have given my life a new purpose. I thought I was happy being your best friend. But this...this is even better. Never think that you’re putting any kind of pressure on me. None of those men or women out there, or anywhere for that matter, can bring me what I feel with you, for you.”
Words seemed insufficient for what she wanted to say. So, she simply nodded, and wrapped her arms around his torso.
“Thank you,” she murmured into his chest.
He chuckled as he ran his hand on her head, “Being jealous actually makes you look cute.”
She unwrapped herself from him just enough to look at his face, “Says the man who just confessed being jealous himself!”
“I never said I don’t look cute,” he shrugged again.
Shaking her head and laughing, she pulled his face down, and placed a warm kiss on his cheek.
“Go now, before I punch that cute face of yours.”
“When you say ‘punch’,” Loki drawled, “do you mean…’kiss every inch of’...?”
Blushing furiously, she pushed him towards the door.
“Shut up, and just go!”
Loki laughed as he wished her a lovely night, and disappeared into his usual green glow.
---------------
But the Avengers were not the ones to give up.
Not many weeks later, Natasha planned an evening at one of her favourite nightclubs. While Steve, Vision and Bucky backed out of the plan, given their previous not-so-delightful interactions with the loudness and the crowd, Thor and Tony were adamant on dragging Loki with them.
“We thought you liked a little fun! Since when did you start wearing grandpa’s knickers?” Tony snorted.
“C’mon, brother, don’t embarrass me,” Thor’s voice boomed in Loki’s room. “(Y/N) has embarrassed me enough. She didn’t want to go either. Said she’d rather sleep than be tormented by the blasted noise.”
She said what? That means she’s going to stay back-
“Wait, what?” Tony turned towards Thor with a perplexed look, “She said that?”
He turned around to face Loki again, “Are you two planning something or have you both become boring?”
No, no, no! They’ll add up…
“I am not boring!” Loki declared. He decided to stay quiet on the other option that Stark had mentioned.
“Well, then join us,” Tony shrugged.
With a dramatic roll of his eyes, Loki agreed.
Needless to say, his eyes went wide when he saw (Y/N) dressed up and ready for the outing when he was expecting her in her pajamas. When she silently questioned him, he immediately realised that he had been tricked.
I have to be more careful.
The team’s plan soon became obvious when, after a few rounds of shots, everyone made a beeline to the dance floor, leaving behind a string of excuses, and Loki and (Y/N) at the bar. Even through the crowd, the duo’s trained eyes could catch glimpses of their teammates shadowing them.
“Do they really think getting drunk will make us confess?” She shouted over the sound of the music.
“I’m a God,” he shouted back. “Midgardian liquor doesn’t affect me anyway.”
“Well, it affects me,” she shrugged and drained another shot down her throat, “and I love it!”
Last one.
She had started feeling dizzy. Getting wasted could be saved for another moment when she wasn’t being spied on.
A few minutes passed in silence as neither was fond of shouting to communicate. (Y/N) bobbed her head to the music while Loki eyed the mass of bodies swaying and moving with the beats.
“Would you-” Loki began but stopped midway.
While her eyes questioned him, he silently slipped from the stool, and came to stand almost behind her.
His hot breath, dipped in a faint whiff of alcohol, hit the shell of her ear as he purred, “Would you like to dance with me?”
She was rendered immobile for a while. A small corner of her mind wondered if Loki knew what he was doing to her.
I bet he knows what he’s doing.
“I’d have loved to!” She drawled. “It’s a shame there isn’t room for a waltz here, and I wouldn’t want a God like you to hop like teeangers in the crowd.”
She felt his chest brush against her back.
“I was actually hoping that you’d be up for that dance,” he pointed at a section of the crowd where bodies were gliding against each other in the most provocative ways.
Her breath hitched again. She didn’t need to turn her head to know that Loki was smirking at his achievement.
But this time, she wouldn’t squeal, she wouldn’t push him away with a timid smile. Diffidence and boldness both tugged at polar ends of her heart until boldness won the war.
Not this time. Two can play the game, darling.
“So, what’s stopping you?” Her lips almost brushed his earlobe as she tilted her head to whisper in his ear.
Where did that come from?!
Loki wasn’t prepared for this.
It was usually him who threw mildly suggestive comments which she pushed away with a shy gesture. He never expected the tables to turn so quickly.
She did not even have enough shots to get drunk yet, he noticed.
“What happened, did the cat get your silver tongue?” She smirked.
“I-I...uh...”
While Loki continued to gape at her, an inkling of panic nudged her chest.
Did I take it too far? He obviously wasn’t ready for this, but…
It all must have been another prank for him, and I…
No!
With a cackle, she sliced the apparent tension in the air. “So, finally got you, ha? Mischief!” She winked.
Turning towards the bartender, she ordered another shot.
Loki’s brain was still trying to decipher her behaviour.
Did she really mean it…? It didn’t look like a joke though…
As she focused on her drink, he thought he saw a flicker of disappointment cross her face, but the incessant dance of light and shadows made her features almost unreadable.
“You should get back to your seat, y’know?” She told him with downcast eyes.
“What?”
“The team might notice and...they might know.”
Did her voice just...tremble?
Loki hated the place: the noise, the dim lights, the secrecy - he hated the way everything seemed to veil her from him.
“I think I’ll go find them.”
Downing another drink, she hopped off her seat, and disappeared in the crowd, leaving Loki to his thoughts.
Once they were back in the compound, Loki went straight to (Y/N)’s room. This time he did not sneak into her room using magic; he knocked on her door. This wasn’t the moment to play a game of cat and mouse. If the entire compound was prying on him, he would gladly allow them to. Well, maybe not gladly.
“Hey! Hi, Loki!”
Her smile was as bright as ever.
Was it all in my mind then?
“Are you alright?” He tried to sound calm but his anxiety turned out to be more stubborn than him.
“Yes, I am. What- Come inside first.”
She stepped aside, allowing him to stride into her room, and flump down on the bed.
“I’m sorry,” he began honestly, “I thought...I thought you were upset. At the club… I thought I saw you...sad? I’m not sure. I just had this feeling that you’re probably not okay, and-”
“Loki,” she held his shoulders and gently hushed him, “I’m fine.”
Her assurance enabled him to breathe normally again.
Caressing his face, she placed a light kiss on his forehead.
“Thank you, Loki! For everything. For caring so much about me.”
“(Y/N),” he held her hand, “are you hiding something? From me?”
He didn’t miss the way she gulped before replying.
“Why would you say that?”
“Look, I’m sorry if I cross the lines sometimes. I know I tease you but those are… I’m sorry if I’ve ever made you uncomfortable or have hurt you.”
“You are an idiot! Do you know that? You’ve never hurt me or made me uncomfortable. Now, get these stupid thoughts out of your little brain, and give me that devilishly charming smile of yours.”
Despite all her compliments, his eyes did not light up as they usually did.
“Are you sure?” He asked her.
“Absolutely!”
“You’ll tell me if you’re upset, won’t you? Promise me.”
He took note of how she licked her lips before nodding.
Something is not right.
“Come here,” he pulled her in his arms, and buried his face in the crook of her neck. “And I’m not an idiot. I am smart.”
---------------
The next few weeks turned out to be more and more challenging as the team was now hell-bent on getting them exposed. What made them so sure of their relationship was still a mystery to the couple.
“Are we that obvious?” (Y/N) asked Loki one day.
“I don’t know,” he shrugged. “It is said that it shows on the faces of those in love. So, I guess...”
The words, coming from him, filled her with warmth. If that be true, and if everyone could see that they were in love only by looking at them, then she’d happily trade their secrecy for more obviousness.
But every time they came close to taking the relationship to the next level, she would find Loki backing away. Every time they had the opportunity to reveal their beautiful secret to the team, he would quickly shield both of them.
Why, Loki? Do you not want us?
---------------
It was a rainy evening when Tony had gathered everyone in the living room. At first (Y/N) thought that it was an urgent meeting for a new mission. But when she knew the actual reason behind it, she couldn’t prevent the snort that escaped her.
“Excuse me?” Tony pointed at her. “You got some problem, princess?”
“Truth or dare? Like, how old are we? Twelve?”
Tony spread his arms as if to silently make a point. “Since when did you start categorizing fun into ages? Ever since you started dating Rock of Ages?”
“Hey!” Loki made a tiny protest at his nickname.
“We are not dating,” (Y/N) deadpanned.
“And there goes my question,” Wanda sighed from across the room.
In response, (Y/N) simply rolled her eyes, and grumbled, “Kids!”
Once the game started, the team wasted no time in getting to the point: (Y/N) and Loki.
The first one to get attacked was Loki.
“No, no truth for you,” Sam chimed in just as Loki sucked in a breath to choose “truth”.
“He’s the God of Lies!” Sam announced, “He can easily slip away with any lie!”
“The bird’s got a point!” Tony agreed, followed by everyone else. “‘Dare’ for you!”
“This is not how it works,” Loki protested.
“Did you play this on Asgard? Thor?”
“No, we had never even heard of it until we came here,” the big brother responded.
“But-”
“Nah-ah!” Tony didn’t let him finish. “This is exactly how it is played. Who wants to give the God of Mischief a mischievous dare?”
(Y/N) wanted to protest; she wanted to tell Tony that he was bending the rules to get to them. But any word of support would further corner them both. All she could do was play along.
“Kiss (Y/N). And you know where I mean.”
Nat’s voice yanked her out of her thoughts. She watched in horror as Loki’s expressions changed from shock to anger while the entire team cheered.
“Nat!” (Y/N) jumped up from her seat, “do you even hear yourself? He’s my best friend! We can’t just...”
“Why not?” Sam questioned with a smirk. “You seemed to be enjoying it when I was asked to kiss Buck. He’s my best buddy.”
“Speak for yourself,” Bucky mumbled.
“C’mon, it’s just a game! Don’t be a spoilsport.”
Steve?? Et tu?
Rubbing her eyes, (Y/N) tried to find a way out of it. She knew well that if Loki kissed her, she’d melt into it. Everything would become obvious.
No, no, no!! This can’t be. They can’t just expose us like this. Loki would be so....
Wait, why isn’t he saying anything?
She opened her eyes to see Loki standing. His expression was unfathomable.
Oh no! Is he going to…
“This is outrageous!” Loki snapped and turned on his heels to walk out of the room.
Oh!
For reasons she did not want to explore then, (Y/N)’s heart dropped several feet. She was expecting a similar reaction from him but wasn’t hoping for it.
Quickly gravitating back to the situation in hand, she stammered an excuse or two for his behaviour, and followed his tracks to check on him.
Once both of them were out of earshot, Tony leaned towards the group, “Did we save it or kill it.”
“Looks like we killed it,” Sam sighed.
“Trust me,” Wanda smiled, “we saved it.”
“Vision? What do you think?”
“I still do not understand why you have to torment them like this. Let them come out when they want to. It’s-”
“Okay!” Tony interrupted him. “Sorry I asked! My bad!”
The door to Loki’s room was half open when (Y/N) arrived. Gingerly, she admitted herself inside.
Loki was standing at the window, with his back towards her. His head was bowed but his hands were curled into fists on both sides of his body.
“Loki?”
The name came out so softly that she couldn’t be sure if he had heard it, given that he did not move at all.
But before she could call him again, he spoke.
“I did not want this to happen,” his voice bore that particular kind of seriousness that usually preceded an unwanted or unhappy revelation.
What?
“I am sorry, (Y/N).” He turned towards her, and she realised in an instant that he wasn’t fooling around.
“What are you talking about, Loki? What did you not want to happen?”
Her chest felt tighter with every passing second.
Please, not what I’m fearing.
“This,” his hand vaguely gestured towards the hallway. “Whatever happened just now. I knew they would come down to this one day. I never wanted-”
“It’s okay,” she interjected. “I did not like that either. Although they meant no harm. It was just for fun… And I understand if you're having second thoughts. This entire thing between us was just something… y’know, a spur of the moment kind of thing. I totally understand if-"
"(Y/N)! Where is this coming from? What are you even talking about?"
She couldn’t make herself look at him, for if she did, he could clearly see the moisture pooling in her eyes. She needed to appear strong.
“Loki, you’ve always been my best friend. And I’ve loved that. You know it. And it’s okay if this new turn in our relationship does not turn out to be something that you had hoped for. It happens. It’s okay-”
“It’s not okay for me,” Loki grasped her hands. “What are you saying? Why? A-are you not happy with me? Have I done something wrong? Did I offend you in any way?”
What is he saying? I thought…
As she looked up at him, a couple of drops ran down her cheeks and on her shirt.
“(Y/N), please tell me. You had promised to tell me anything and everything that upsets you. So, tell me what happened. Why do you speak of our relationship as if it was a mistake?”
“It never was a mistake for me,” she breathed, “I thought you felt...I thought you...”
“What?”
The shaky way in which the question came out of him stung her more than any thought of Loki not wanting this relationship. It was then that she realised how badly she had hurt him.
He never wanted to leave! He always wanted me? Us?
She didn’t know what to say.
“I’m sorry,” she finally managed. “I thought that you...didn’t want...this. Us. I-”
“Why would you even think so? Why would you bear such thoughts when I love you with every fiber of my being?”
Her head snapped up.
“You love me?” Her own voice became shaky.
“Of course, I do,” he gently placed a hand on her cheek, “always have. At first I thought it was a love for friends until that night, when I realised that I wanted to be more than just friends with you.”
More tears fell down her cheek as she rejoiced in the moment. Loki wiped them all, and placed soft kisses on each cheek.
“And all this time, I was afraid that you’re having second thoughts,” she confessed.
“And why is that?”
“Because...”
How do I say that it’s because you haven’t kissed me yet? And ran away from the one moment we had today, albeit in a not-so-comfortable situation?
“Because I haven’t kissed you yet?” Loki asked her.
Her heart beat so violently, she could have sworn that Loki could hear it. Her tongue felt too heavy to speak.
“I didn’t think you were ready,” he admitted. “That is the reason why I did not dance with you in the club either. I was teasing you, yes, but when you responded I was definitely taken aback. I wasn’t sure if it was you or the ambience talking. So…
You have always shied away from any comments that I make, and...I did not want to push anything on you.”
“Oh, Loki!”
She hugged him so hard that even the Asgardian had to take two steps back to balance himself.
“I’m so, so sorry,” she wept into his shirt. “I misunderstood your actions for… I pushed you away. I thought you weren’t ready for this relationship. I’m sorry!”
Tears of both apology and relief flooded her. He tried to sush her as he rocked her slowly from side to side.
After taking a moment to compose herself, she stood straight. Loki looked at her red-eyed, tear-stained face and tutted.
“Doesn’t suit you, darling. Show me your crazy, grinning face.”
With a chuckle, she gave him a funny face-splitting smile, making both of them laugh.
“(Y/N), I didn’t want to kiss you because of a game or under the watchful eyes of that insufferable bunch of imbeciles. But if you will allow me now, I-”
“Just stop being so polite for a change, and kiss me,” she tugged at the collars of his shirt.
Loki didn’t need to be asked twice.
---------------
In the hall, the Avengers were busy speculating the outcome of their little plan, when the couple in discussion walked in. Hand in hand.
“Yes, we had changed our relationship status around six months ago,” (Y/N) announced to a stunned audience.
“And yes, we kissed. Just now. And I hope you know where I mean,” Loki added before dragging his love away towards the elevator.
“What was that?” She whispered as she was being whisked away.
“What?” Loki asked innocently, although his eyes stated otherwise.
“You didn’t need to declare that we just kissed!” She laughed as the doors of the elevator closed.
He shrugged while jabbing at a button. “They wanted us to kiss anyway. So, I gave them the satisfaction of knowledge. Besides, they need to know who you belong to now.”
“Aha! Possessive?”
“No! I also made it clear who I belong to now.”
He smiled as the doors opened to the hallway that led to his room. And once again, his words had rendered her speechless.
Silver tongue!
