Liam had found himself on the verge of turning around and walking back home several times now, he had a feeling that this wasn't a good idea. Going to meet up with the person you had been having romantic dreams about frequently for the last month or so when you have a partner already seemed like a big red flag and yet, here he was. "Hey Sam- thanks for meeting me." He smiled, having eventually made it to the coffee shop, standing in front of the other and feeling his heart beating hard against his chest. "Do you have a coffee already or do you want me to pick you one up?" He asked, knowing that having a drink in front of him, having something to do with his hands would hopefully help his nerves a little.

WHERE: Martha Mae's Bed and Breakfast WHO: Sam (@travelingreportersam)
Mo fiddled with the coffee cup in front of him, Martha had insisted on leaving a fresh pot and a few breakfast pastries at the table. He kept holding his breath the way Knightley seemed to do so easily to keep his cool. They'd gotten better about it over time, even if it was still a struggle. Hearing someone walk in he stood up and held his hand out, "Sam? You wanted to speak to employees at the nursing home, right?," they said. Everyone at work had been talking about the interviews, seemed the easiest way to get a conversation going. "Martha left coffee if you want some," they said sitting back down.

who: @samjimenezx when: 4/20 where: the park
"Are you looking for Ollie?" Jacqui asked when they looked up and saw Sam, figuring that she was in the park looking for the at-the-moment-very-stoned mutual friend they shared, not that the also-very-stoned Jacqui knew where he was. But they didn't think Sam would be in the park to partake in the holiday celebrations of her own free will. Despite her friendship with Ollie, and, yeah, Jacqui too.

@themckaytriarchy asked:
Sam Guthrie has a good life! Okay, he has an exciting life, but some things still catch a guy by surprise. Y'know? He knows. For example, the woman with a giant hat and a giant set of... flowers on said hat is bouncing toward him, her heels click click clicking as she does that strange little run of people who've spent far too much time in high heeled shoes. Click clop click clop! The early spring breeze catches at the hem of her bright purple skirt, causing the silk to flutter around her knees. There's a--oh, there's a feather on the hat, too. He can see it now! Boy, that's a big hat. "Samuel!" The woman calls his name gaily, raising her hand to catch his attention. Whoever she is, she waves like a beauty queen, and even from here, he can see her smile is toothpaste commercial white. "Are you Samuel Guthrie? Slow down, dearheart! Let me have a look at you!"
Sam had been lost in his own little world, when his attention was brought to the mystery woman waving him down. The first thing he noticed? Well, that hat. It sure, indeed, was a very big hat. Sam was not sure he'd ever seen a hat that big. The world was full of marvels.
The second thing? She seemed to know him, considering she was calling him out by name. Sam look left and right in confusion, pointing innocently at himself as if to confirm that, yes, he was indeed the Sam Guthrie she was calling to. You never know, the odds of their being another right next to him were slime, but not zero.
"Me?" he perked up as the woman approached. "Pardon me, ma'am, but do we know each other?"

who: @samjimenezx when: early on, greer’s party
“Hey,” Sassa said, barely glancing up from her phone as Sam greeted her, eyes still on the text message - as they had been, since she received it. As much as Greer had made her miserable in the past, and as much as Sassa blamed her for her and Mitch’s...falling out, or whatever, she just couldn’t believe she’d actually be doing this. Playing this game as the first texts had called it. But she wasn’t about to risk it - whoever it was knew something, even if they didn’t know everything Greer had. And it was simple enough, right? Let someone else take her phone. Pretend to be her. Text someone as her. Not that big of a deal.
Sassa was a bit of a control freak though, and the idea of someone else potentially fucking with the perfectly curated images she had developed nearly broke her out in hives. But at least - and this was something Greer wouldn’t have fucked up - it was Mitch. Who barely knew her anymore, with everything that had changed in the past year. And she trusted Sam. Mostly. Sort of. More than a lot of people, at least. “Would you do me a favor?” Sassa asked, finally turning her gaze up to the younger girl, a blink of long lashes accompanying the question. “I, uh...need help figure out what to say to Mitch. We haven’t really spoken in a while,” she said, shrugging up one shoulder, trying to keep her question casual, like this wasn’t the last thing she wanted to be doing.

The most recent note was in her hands and it caught Sam’s eye. A wave of nerves come over him, watching for her reaction. Each time he hoped she might realise it was him. He had been crushing on her for as long as he could remember, but he wasn’t even sure she had ever noticed him. Fuck...she had finished and wait...was she smiling? Sam became hopeful and his heart began to race, but then that name came out of her lips and his world came crashing down around him. In the anger and frustration, he marched over to her before he realised what he was doing and stopped. Too late. He was already standing in front of her - panicked - he froze. “Another dumb love letter, huh?” Yep, deflect and bully, much easier than admitting the truth.

@leavetheminshreds - Sam
Amelia was startled awake and immediately groaned upon seeing Sam in her line of sight. She buried her face back into her pillow and pulled the blanket over her head. “It’s 6 in the morning, Sam.” She whined, but each word was only muffled by her pillow
Despite the annoyance that tainted each muffled word, Amelia held a deep fondness for Sam. After losing her family, she spent a lot of time wandering, trying to find found family, and never really got it. She got close to Saul and the Sinclairs. They had taken her in and taught her everything she knows now about hunting, but it wasn’t the same.
Sam, however, had basically adopted her and Amelia had grown to love the man as an adoptive father. Even when he had the audacity to wake her up before the sun’s rays to train or work out. “You better have brought coffee.” She finally relented, peaking from under her blanket to the man.

thinking about fhjy stress/rage tokens as explorations of how our broken school system pushes kids into being their worst selves. thinking about how both the bad kids and the rat grinders are victims of the same systems of exploitation, even beyond them both literally being manipulated by the same man. god

there is interesting johndean subtext and insinuations across kripke era, usually through an antagonist insinuating parent-child sexual violence in order to exert dominance over dean. this type of mockery exploits that ambiguous relationship between john and dean and reminds dean that he never had a normal relationship with his father, and that makes him gross and wrong. it doesn't actually matter in the end whether john was sexually abusive to dean. the core of their relationship was damning enough: dean was made to take the place of john's wife—to comfort john and raise sam—while simultaneously being his son. the codependent nature of their relationship implies the incest that underscores their dynamic. again, this is regardless of what literally occurred between dean and john because there is enough doubt toward the nature of their relationship that multiple antagonists can use it against them.
sonwife, brotherhusband—dean is stuck in a liminal space between family and lover and is unable to put his feet firmly on just one side and instead has to accept both together or abandon both together. he doesn't get to have a relationship with his family without it being simultaneously incestuous. he plays the role of wife to john and mother to sam as mary's replacement; he therefore becomes more than a son and transcends the boundaries of the familial into the incestuous. it's baked into the dynamic and he can't hope to escape the liminality in which he's stuck without abandoning his entire family altogether.
this ambiguous relationship is further acted out with sam, where people perceive them as lovers rather than brothers; where their mutual devotion trumps, neglects, and disallows any other close relationship outside each other; where their physical closeness is viewed through an unusually sexual lens despite no literal sex acts between them taking place on screen. once again dean is stuck in a liminal space, paralleling the ambiguous and uncertain relationship he had with john.
in the end, sex (and sexual violence) is just a symbol of this codependency and uncertainly incestuous dynamic. sex acts in kripke era end up being symbolic: misinterpretations of sam and dean's relationship; accusations of sexual violence; literal, on-screen sexual moments between the brothers and someone else. it's a literary device that highlights the incestuous themes of the show. dean hand-picks women for sam to fuck because it allows dean to be symbolically part of sam's sex life. henricksen accuses john of raping dean because it is a symbol of the unhealthy, codependent relationship dean had with his father. the samulet stays on during sex because sam is symbolically integral to dean's sexual gratification (seen too in the way both dean and cassie in 1.13 appear to kiss the amulet at least once in the dark room). sex is used to signify more than what's literally on the screen, and the connections between the literal sex acts and the blurred lines of dean's familial relationships allow for a reading of incest between both john and dean and sam and dean.
it never mattered whether johndean or samdean had a sexual relationship in the canon because that was never the point. the point is the liminality that permeates the narrative. sam, dean, and john all stand upon a threshold between acceptable and taboo. the point of it all is the doubt and anxiety, the are-they-aren't-they that is never answered. the absence of incest within the text invites the understanding that the incest was, in fact, always there.

Liam knew he had been staring at the other for quite some time now, he had tried to stop himself but he couldn't. Ever since his accident he kept having odd dreams, one's where he was back in school, one where there was someone by his side in a way only Rory had ever been. One where that person definitely looked and sounded like a dream version of Sam. He wasn't sure why it was happening, what his subconscious was doing, making him dream about another man when he was so happy and secure in his own relationship. He hadn't told Rory about the dreams of course, or the blinding headaches that seemed to come on so sporadically every now and then, he simply just kept going. Tried to hide it all the best he could until he figured things out. He had been zoned out for a little too long when he noticed the other was now standing in front of him, causing him to startle a little. "Shit. Sorry. I didn't see you approach." He blushed, wondering if he had been caught with his obvious staring after all.

Jacqui had shown up with Ollie, having....pre-gamed a bit, eyes heavily lidded as she moved to the music. The beat thrummed through their body, and when they spotted Sam, they were unable to resist going over to her, throwing their arms around their shoulder, a sloppy kiss planted on her cheek. “You look beautiful,” Jacqui said, arms loosely around the other freshman’s shoulders. Sure, Ollie had told Jacqui that Sam was a bit more well-behaved than themselves, but Jacqui was high. And she was pretty. So they couldn’t quite resist. “Are you having fun?”

The thing about Otohan is that she had an awesome mechanical build and she served a narrative purpose in that the party lived in fear of her for nearly 60 episodes but she truly did die as she lived, with a personality replaced by frogs and murderous intent. And the thing is I suspect there's plenty of interesting stuff about there. I've been there as a DM, having built a super cool NPC with worldbuiding ties that the party simply did not give a shit about, and I think that's the same situation here.
Legend of the Peaks isn't particularly meaningful since only two party members have any recollection of the Apex War and neither show the slightest interest in the politics thereof and they haven't really been relevant to the story. We don't know why she worshiped the Raven Queen once nor what happened to make her stop while still using that symbol...and it hasn't really been relevant to the story. We don't know if the backpack came from her or was from Ludinus...but it's not really relevant to the story other than tracing the potions of possibility back through Treshi and Jiana. We don't know what specifically drove her towards the Vanguard other than lacking answers as a Ruidusborn - which may have simply been enough - but again. Not relevant. We have Liliana to represent the perspective of a Ruidusborn who went through the Omen Archive study and whose motivations warped and twisted from a place of genuine worry and fear, and we have Ludinus to represent the centuries-long architect of this entire plan (plus he can't stop monologuing about his motivations, and that is a compliment). That's plenty.
And so Otohan consistently fails the Sexy Lamp With A Gun Attached Test, and it doesn't really matter, and I'm sure there was a backstory there but there's quite literally been no reason to care about it at any point, and I think most people do not. Her entire purpose within the narrative was that of a sentient evil Jersey Barrier that ultimately had to be blown up. I'm infinitely more interested in the loot drop that resulted from her death (and obviously the emotional ramifications of FCG's sacrifice) than any of her repetitive zealot bullshit.

I know the Finale has so many critiques, I’ve had some opinions of my own but I generally enjoyed it. But one thing I’ve seen people talk about is how Dean was able to talk to Sam for so long without dying yet- saying that it isn’t really realistic or possible…
Here’s the thing- and I feel some people din’t really pick up on this; Dean was quite literally holding on by a thread to life because he needed to know that Sam was going to be okay. I am positive that if Sam had said he wasn’t going to be okay, Dean would have found a way to live. We see Dean struggling and in pain throughout the entire thing but he hasn’t let go of that thread because he needed to know Sam was going to be okay. Sam is Dean’s number priority, we know this. Sam is his everything, and Dean wasn’t going to let go until Sam told him it was going to be okay.
And the moment Sam tells him that Dean can go, that everything’s going to be okay, Dean lets go of the thread. We see his body and face relax, he says goodbye to Sam, and finally dies. All because Sam told him it was going to be okay.
