Ok hear me out, hear me out... What if ... Hikaru no Go AU but it's Pai Sho? Is this anything?

And Zuko probably has been kicked out of his rich Dad's place and lives with his broke uncle in a small flat somewhere, including school change and everything, where he meets Jet who is super passionate about Pai Sho and hates nepo babies or something.

I'm not a true Jetko believer but I have to admit Jet's the closest thing to a rival Zuko's ever had in the series (no Azula doesnt count! no, Zhao also doesnt count! i mean someone who has no family relations and is the same age and also creates weird tension ahem). It was just so fleeting. They deserved better!

Straightforward Mitts by Mone Dräger, modified!

I made these with Dye Mad Yarns' Chester Sock base in Play for a Purpose (2023). The pattern linked above does not come with fingers, but a friend saw @ninalanfer's version modified to include half fingers and loved it. So, naturally, I had to Make These For Them :)

Huge shout-out to nina for generously linking me (an absolute finger-knitting noob) helpful patterns and notes for learning how to do fingers! It was super helpful and very appreciated, and now I feel Unstoppable!!

Drew up some quick resources I can use for prototyping The Crazy Idea (aka, Dess makes a friendship-themed Kirby visual novel) to see if the systems I want (morning/noon/night, days of the week, friend levels, picnics, gift-giving) are going to be doable for me or not.

Also, coming up with expressions was a fun challenge! (Which is good if I'll be doing this x40 later on...)

seeing a lot of people confused about the suletta vs guel fencing duel but i thought it was pretty obvious that he was just trying to give her a chance to win fair and square since the last time ended with her begging him for a rematch after he helped cheat her out of her victory

Having seen the sheer confusion of people who have seen posts about the locked tomb series but not actually read the books themselves, I've got a few theories as to why that is.

The fandom refuses to focus on the plot, and instead gloms on to the particularly odd chunks instead. Post-apocalyptic magic lesbians unearth ancient and terrible secrets. Cool, good overview. Has anyone ever described that way? No. We're all stuck on revenant Barbie and DIY labotomies. Those are both spoilers that sound insane. They're actually more insane once you have context.

The text of the actual novels, often has the emotional character driven style of fan fiction. And like the good stuff where the title is a song lyric in all undercase and a single chapter with 15K word count. Which can make it difficult to tell apart excerpts from the actual book and excerpts from fan fiction. (This isn't even counting the part of the book where a character actually invented an alternate universe where she and her crush were in a cute coffee shop Au)

The memes. I saw a post where somebody had drawn like 8 different memes of the book. Except only one of them was a drawover of parks and rec, AND THE REST WERE CANNON SCENES FROM THE BOOK.

The naming conventions. The series is called the locked tomb. The 1st book is called Gideon the 9th. The 2nd book is called Harrow the 9th. The 3rd book is called Nona the 9th. The 4th book of what was intended to be a trilogy is called Alecto the 9th.

Somehow the POV character is always the person who is least qualified to tell the story. The narrator has no idea what's happening. The narrator may be clueless, haunted, possessed, in denial, or straight up lying. Why would any of us know what's happening? If you're trying to put together pieces from the outside with no context, you're just fucking doomed.

Clara's father being an Earl means that her family outranks Baron DeVries' family in terms of the hierarchy of the nobility. DeVries - a mere Baron, the lowest rank of British nobility - is constantly making references to his family's heritage and history and the responsibilities that come with it. Meanwhile, Clara - the daughter of an Earl (which is two ranks above a Baron) - actively avoids mentioning her aristocratic heritage and is making every effort she can to construct an identity and a life that is separate from that heritage. DeVries' adventuring is a continuation of his family's legacy; Clara's is a rejection of her's.

Assassination Attempt Gone Wrong

Don't the assassination attempts always seem to go wrong with those three?

Yoichi, Second, and Third are planning to get married in a private non-legal ceremony. Of course they know All for One can be counted on to wreck it. No matter if they don't invite him, he'll find out. His big brother instincts are oddly accurate at such times. They need a distraction.

The trio comes up with a plan to make Destro and All for One fight. No matter who dies, they win! (Second and Third assume Destro will die. Yoichi is an optimist.) The plan is for Yoichi to flirt with Destro so that All for One's murderous protectiveness will switch over to him instead. Thus this will allow the trio's wedding to go under the radar.

Destro proves too annoying and handsy. Seriously, Yoichi thought he was immune to annoyance after years living with his brother. But Destro is a whole new level of self-centered. Every word out of his mouth picks at Yoichi's nerves like nails on a chalkboard. After Destro gropes him, Yoichi snaps and stabs him.

The bad news is that the trio has to flee the country to avoid murder charges. The good news is that All for One is too busy taking over Destro's organization to track them right away. Yoichi, Second, and Third have a small ceremony in a meadow in the Alps. All for One wakes up in the middle of the night shouting "I object!" and doesn't know why.
