i find it funny how leninists will be alllll about ‘the masses’ and ‘the people’ and how they are the true leaders and we must trust them etc etc etc, but then you also hear shit like ‘oh, don’t say anything negative about any Actually Existing Socialist™ countries, that will just manufacture consent for US imperialism’, implying that these same masses are too stupid to be able to have a position outside of the dichotomy of ‘AES countries good, leave them alone’ and ‘AES countries bad, send in the tanks’
which ya know, may explain why so many leninists are tankies, because they probably exist solely within such dichotomies.

my new fav common argument used by Tumblr's Absolute Authorities of George Martin's Work (towards the end of a debate when they don't have any actual arguments left) is that "Fire and Blood is bad". it's bAd u guyz! what are we even fighting about? oh you thought we were having a genuine debate about whether the tv show is a faithful adaptation of the source material and the implications of the different perspectives for the characters, premise, lore and overall message of the story? well fuck you we're not doing that because guess what, the source material is BAD anyway and the 98494 receipts you just gave us are useless now because we just moved the goalposts and you're a loser for even engaging with the source material to begin with lmaooo

I do think an ideal translation team would need to have at least three people, and only two of them absolutely *must* speak both languages.
You need someone who's better at the original language but speaks the target language (to identify subtleties and cultural references), you need someone who is better at the target language but speaks the original (to make sure the initial translation makes sense), and you need a proofreader who has some expertise in prose in the target language (to make sure the concerns of the first two are being met in the final draft, and determine if there are any cases where a better-fitting word in the target language fits for words with multiple definitions)
and all three of these people need to be in some kind of communication with each other, back and forth until all parties can come to some consensus.

I'll just say this rn that me answering messages is not an attempt to drag out the topic, I'm simply answering what other people send me and I don't like to ignore people so I apologize if others are tired of this (I am too) I'll only answer messages that are sent to me in good faith and not meant to upset people

Do you think someone who watched Andor before watching Rogue One would still ship Jyn and Cassian?
I don't see why not? their relationship in the movie doesn't change

which tlt characters (so far) do you think should kiss
oh...so many......
first of all: magnus and abigail should get to kiss bc it was literally their wedding anniversary and they threw a dinner party and sent out invitations and and-
gideon and dulcinea took over my brain stem the second gideon picked her up when they met i simply....i litrally blush whenever dulcinea is on the page
gideon also has two lips and coronabeth....gideon deserves this. as a treat. this is the spring break of her life and she deserves to be a slut about it.
camilla and coronabeth is literally a thought that exists only bc i am a sicko and like to imagine beautiful ladies kissing but there you go that's an entree into my dark twisted mind
harrow and palamedes should kiss once if only bc it would suck for both of them and be really funny for me
jeanemary deserved a kiss on the forehead or perhaps the cheek from gideon. she was brave enough to ask about her biceps when no one else would.

chibnall era fans as a group are the wet paper towels of era fans and it’s not annoying, it’s Depressing. When was the last time anybody saw any rtd or moffat era fans say in Every positive post ‘it isn’t perfect’ despite how very Not perfect those eras were? What made everybody think you have to compromise your way into saying you like something? If somebody reads your post and they believe you saying you like the era is you saying you like Every single choice made, every story decision, every behind the scenes decision and word uttered from the cast and crew, and every second of screen time was utter perfection then They’re a moron and/or acting in bad faith and aren’t worth anybody’s time beyond a cursory block button hit.
it upsets me on peoples behalf at this point. We’ve ended up the personification of the 10 crying in the pouring rain.gif. You don’t have to bargain with people who dislike it to express a single positive feeling about it, you don’t need to shove a disclaimer on every post, there is no need to be Guilty (or at least, no need to be any more guilty than people who like the Other eras should) and that people have been such dicks about the era that it’s gotten this far is truly absurd (it’s also Doubly sad because a great deal of these people who actively engage are just showing their own biases, being rude as shit, and offering no good faith analysis. They are Not worth conceding anything to. The polite ones worth conversing and debating with you will hear nothing from because they’re not, you know, rude).
no, i don’t think it was perfect, but if anybody assumes i think it was because i say it’s my favourite era they’re engaging in bad faith performative outrage because they hate that somebody likes something they don’t, and that’s literally the end of it.
There is a difference between critical analysis that ends in a negative place and just plain not liking an episode or a choice and voicing that dislike casually and like... a dog rolling on it’s belly in submission to people? I, and everybody else, have as much a right to like this era best as rtd and moffat lovers have to their own favourites and i’m not going to act all submissive about it when they don’t about their favourites. And I don’t expect fans of any other show runner to shove a disclaimer in every one of their positive posts, either, it’s absurd. And i’m not mad that those eras were their favourites, I like things about all the eras and have different critiques about them all as well.
This is absolutely a rant, but... It’s coming from a place of??? People shouldn’t have to do that. It’s not fair. This happened because people were utterly awful. It’s a rant in defence. With everybody else tearing into us with bad faith, unchecked and proud bigotry, and sometimes just plain entitled fan whining, the last thing we need is to tear ourselves down for them.

So I've just gotten to the point in Utena where I realize that GWitch's Guel Jerk is basically RGU's Kyouichi Saionji dropped into a war story. They share like half their respective character arcs.
I should probably have caught on sooner given how similarly I reacted to the two of them.
