𐔌 coming back for more (2) ─ geum seongje 𐦯
part two of coming back for more
⟡ ﹒ in which ⌇ some people aren't meant to be with you forever. some relationships were a lesson - maybe, geum seong-je was a lesson.
⟡ ﹒ content⌇ gn reader, childhood friends, angst
⟡ ﹒ listen to⌇ back for more - tomorrow x together, anitta

since you confronted him at the roof top, not much improved. neither one of you two wanted to loose whatever misunderstanding? argument? squabble? this was. you had always been one to keep your pride - even against seong-je, who you had know forever (or, so you thought...)
you didn't know what to think of it. you weren't like the people in stories - never the bigger person. you'd hold onto your spitefullness even if it broke you. so, you don't message. you arrange no meetings, you avoid calling him. but, you didn't block him either - you just existed in his life idle. faint.
seong-je didn't do anything to repair your relationship. he didn't text you either you, let alone confront you. his ego would be the reason he'd die alone, you used to say. maybe you said it so many times it would come true.
and so, the follow days were like the bittersweet after a storm - relief that it was over, but a yearning for how things used to be. it was almost as if the world was testing your patients, with little encounters. it was small things; noticing him in the halls, seeing him outside with a cigarette.
other memories hit harder. in convineince stores it was almost as if he was still there - sitting outside on the side walk (rain soaked you both, but it didn't matter), slurping stale noodles. you'd let out a breath.. you didn't deserve to yearn for anything. metaphorically, you dumped noodles all over his head yesterday.
thankfully, seong-je didn't affect your new first, jun-tae. the boy was well meaning, and sweet. he looked out for your needs (exprieience from a former snack shuttle). you'd walk into cram school, chocolates and flavored milk sitting on your desk. a warm smile to greet you during mathematics.

the bell for cram school rang, signaling freedom. you stretch you arms over your head, sighing tiredly. as you finish packing your supplies, you see a bubbly jun-tae ready to greet you a the door. greeting him, you're greatful he didn't leave you in the dirt.
─ "school is killing me... i hate mathematics..." you frown, rubbing your temples
─ "yeah... three more years of it, too..." he adds on - there was a certain exhaustion to his voice.
you two walk home, not in silence, but in a comfortable amount of chatter. poking fun to him, seeing him a little flushed. you liked this - you didn't feel like you were suffocating in silence.
─ "hey, you should meet my other friends - from eunjang-" he pipes, looking at you hopefully. humming, you think. after seong-je's depart, you needed a change of pace.
─ "that'd be nice. what were their names again?"
─ "si-eun, baku, and go-tak! you'd get along good, they're super friendly!"
you nod, agreeing. jun-tae seems excited, telling you to visit him after school.

outside of eunjang, students in uniforms pour out. a pink hue fills the sky as you wait for jun-tae; who eventually shows up with a three other boys. one looked annoyed, one grumpy, and one hyper.
nodding to jun-tae, you ask,
─ "is this them, jun-tae?"
immidiatly, the hyper one - sporting red hair and slightly tanned skin - breaks in to a sly smile.
─ "hey.. didn't know you had a significant other, jun-tae..."
jun-tae flushes, shaking his head at his friend's comment, babbling about how he met you at cram school and you guys clicked. a slightly shorter boy with dark hair and a sky blue hoodie shakes his head,
─ "sorry about baku. he's and idiot around women. i'm go-tak by the way, and that's si-eun over there."
─ "its fine. nice to meet you three!" you say, waving off baku and a flushed jun-tae.
the five of you immediatly click. you poked fun at baku and go-tak, who returned the favor. even a very annoyed looking si-eun cracked a few sarcastic comments here and there. the spring air was fresh, new - maybe people were right when they said spring brought new beginnings. you could get used to these four.
you end the day with them, sitting next to the han river. as baku, go-tak, and jun-tae chase eachother around, you turn to si-eun. he seemed like the type to know what he was talking about. should you ask for advice with seong-je? maybe he wouldn't care. you decide against it. he didn't seem to be very awake, anyway, headphones in and droopy eyelids.
craning your neck up at the clouds, you realize you liked this, alot - you liked the stability of the group, a drastic change from seong-je's chaos. you liked not needing to hold your breath and hope for a normal day. as it turns out, not every guy made you feel like the weight of the world was on your shoulders.
something felt missing, though. you couldn't put your finger on it - it just felt a bit.. boring? no, that wasn't the right word. a piece of you wondered what seong-je would do if he was here - chase you into the river, or sit with you, smoking, a blanket of silence on you two?

the reconsiliation started with a short text.
─ "you're alive?" sent 2:03 am
a part of you is screaming to block him, delete the chat, anything that lets you keep the pridefullness inside of you. don't loose this battle, it whispers. well, its actually screaming. reacting to it with a thumbs up emoji, you lock your phone and toss back to sleep.
as you fell back asleep, your pride was screaming. yelling. pounding into your head - it begged you, to disengage. psycho, wannabe gangsters didn't deserve your time.

ps: I’ve kinda combined those two asks together so I hope you don’t mind, anon ^^
—
“Hey Aeri, do you want to watch some movies?” You ask, just as Aeri is headed to the kitchen. She smiles at you, nodding as she approaches the massive sofa.
“Sure, baby.” Her eyes travel to the dark corridor before pulling you into her lap, making sure none of the girls would stop by and ruin the moment.
Instead of the so-promised vacation, your group was stuck with full days of schedules and oversea fan meetings, on top of each girl’s solo projects. With that, it’s been the first time in weeks you and Giselle managed to be alone, in peace for the dark hours of the night before being busy all over again.
“Can I pick?” You both know it’s not an actual question— your hands are already reaching out for the remote, but Aeri hums anyway, content on having you so close by.
You smile as your favorite movie shows up on the massive TV screen, happy to watch your comfort animation after a tiring week. Snuggling beside your girlfriend, you feel cozy and safe, embraced by her strong her arms. You’re nearly falling asleep when you feel Aeri’s hands inside your shirt, caressing your waist with a look you know too well.
“Aeri…” You whine, nudging her faintly— even though she barely moves, much stronger than you are. “Come on, stop. I want to pay attention to the movie.”
She blocks your view from the screen completely, hands still on your waist and an adorable pout on her face. You look away, well aware your girlfriend can get you to do anything with that look.
“Please, Y/n. You know how stressful this week has been.” She pleads, pecking your lips. You keep them shut, but it doesn’t take long for you to melt under Aeri’s touch. “I need you, baby… pretty please?”
You sigh, trying to hide your smirk once you allow your girlfriend to kiss you deeply, licking and tugging on your lips like she’s never had a taste of you before. Her hands reach for the hem of your sweatpants, but you stop her fingers from wandering further.
“Let’s go to the bedroom, the girls might see us if we stay here…” You grab her wrist, biting your lip. You’d be too ashamed to ever face your bandmates’ faces if that ever happened.
Aeri brushes her nose against your neck, giggling when she feels you shiver under her. Her smile deepens, and her voice sounds proud as she answers you. “But don’t you want to watch the movie, baby? They won’t barge in, don’t worry.” Her hands squeeze your thighs, then, petty to not have you agree to her wishes without complaints. “You just have to be quiet. Can you do that? Be quiet for me?”
She’s able to get you to do everything with that tone, and she makes good use of that. With a subtle move, she places her body over yours, one hand setting up the volume of the movie with the remote while the other one begins to lift up your shirt, letting out a satisfied hum once you quickly finish the job yourself, now naked under your girlfriend’s touch.
Aeri’s clothes are off in a second, too, and her hands assault your body once again. Her long nails scratch down your hips, hands groping everywhere, making their way to reach out for your boobs. By then, you’re a whimpering mess, struggling to stay still in the cushions as she pinches and twists your nipples rather harshly —just how you like it, making your mission of staying quiet nearly impossible.
“I knew you wouldn’t make it.” Giselle laughs, hands on your thighs to bring your pussy closer to hers. “You’re too loud, baby. I love it.”
She stays still for a moment, brushing her hair out of her face to admire your body. Her eyes, ever so greedy, go all the way from your skin— slightly reddened by the work she had done with her nails, to your pussy, already glistening with the thought of being touched by the Uchinaga.
You don’t look away, too proud of having her look at you with such desire. She lowers her head, then, and spits, her saliva coating your wet pussy. Aeri spreads it generously with her thumb, making a show of fingering your pussy in a slow, deep rhythm. You no longer care about the movie, biting your hand in attempts of keeping your breathless moans to yourself. In fact, you're so focused you barely register how your girlfriend takes one of your legs against herself, positioning your cunts together until she lowers her body and your pussy touches hers.
“Aeri— oh fuck” You grasp, reaching out for her bare back. Your long nails scratch her skin relentlessly, mind long lost in the sea of sensations she was making you feel.
She rolls her hips, voice echoing loud through the room as your clits touch. You’ve now realized how touch-starved for your girlfriend you were. Aeri she holds you by the waist, placing wet kisses on your neck while her cunt pulsates on top of yours, and the friction is more than enough to radiate that insatiable feeling from your lower abdomen through all your body, making you nearly come in the spot. Your girlfriend’s own moans are loud, nothing short of pornographic; she rolls her eyes, breathless and lost in her own pleasure, too.
Once again, your pussy slides onto hers, in a faster rhythm. It’s enough to drive you crazy, mumbling and whining for her to not stop, to go even faster, to not let go of you…
Aeri revels in seeing you fall apart under her touch. Eager to get those unholy sounds out of you, her fingers reach out for your clit, still focused on brushing her dripping cunt in yours. It’s a mere presence, barely circling your numb bud at all— yet it’s enough to send a wave of shock to your body.
“A-Aeri, oh fuck!” You arch your back, doing everything possible to get your pussy closer to hers. Your pleasure is strong, building up in the pitch of your stomach too quickly, but Aeri stops her movements as soon as she registers the way you tense: a clear sign you’re about to cum. “Hm? Baby? Why’d you stop?” You ask, voice small and uncertain, even though you’ve just had your orgasm ruined. You can’t act defiant towards her, not when her weight is pressing you under her body, and her strong muscles are doing all the work. The only thing you feel is how upset you are, unable to talk back or scold the Uchinaga, deep in your headspace.
She knows your body with the palm of her hand. As soon as your breathing had become quick, and you had your eyebrows furrowed, Aeri knew you were close. Laughing at your confusion, she purposefully alternates between masturbating your pussy then hers, without rush.
“Do you see this, Y/n?” She asks, caressing your neck to guide your head downward, towards the sight of both of your pussies, red and puffy from the friction. “My oh my, how pretty we are.” One of her hands squeezes your breasts hard, before giving both of them light slaps.
In a swift motion, her hands circle your waist, switching positions so you’re half-seated on top of her abdomen, instead. You look at her with a confused frown, tilting your head a bit to the side.
“Sit on my face, please?” She pleads, cupping your ass to reaffirm her words. You do as told, resting your hands on top of the sofa before nodding. You’d do anything to cum, head clouded by the thought of relief— and Aeri knows it. It’s what makes her smile, breath hot under you, as she hovers her mouth through all of your cunt. “God, I’ve missed your taste so much.”
You lean your head back, movements led by Aeri’s strong hands on your thighs as you bite your lip so strongly you feel the metallic taste going down your throat.
“You could’ve just… said so…” You’re breathless, yet your tone still holds a certain grudge to it. “I’ve been dying to touch you, do anything with you all week.” You roll your eyes, then, swirling your hips on her tongue rather harshly. She deserved it, for not paying enough attention to you during so many days. “If you only looked at me at all…”
An uninvited scream leaves your lips once you feel your ass being spanked. Aeri growls, satisfied with your reaction, and slaps your ass once, twice again.
“Shut up and cum.” She demanded, groping your skin so tightly it would certainly bruise.
You should’ve complained; Aeri’s harsh tone and impatient words were not like familiar to you at all. Yet, all you could do was moan loudly, going crazy by your girlfriend’s tongue lapping on your entrance as her nose hit your clit repeatedly. You find yourself desperate, shoving your face onto her without a care about your girlfriend. Thankfully, she didn’t seem to mind; if anything, she was truly starved, taking you in.
You could also feel it— from the way she held you by the hips, to the satisfied moans she let out every couple of seconds, too. This was as much for your pleasure as it was for hers, you both knew so.
It was all too good. Aeri’s tongue was all over your pussy, making a true show of gathering all of your sex to herself— letting her mouth be used for your pleasure only. As moments passed, you could no longer fight the pleasure building up in your abdomen, eager for release.
“M’ gonna c—“ You had no time to warn your girlfriend, falling apart in her mouth. She held you once your body began to shake, lewd sounds coming out of your mouth along with incoherent mumbles.
Aeri happily collected all of your juices, careful to not suck on your clit. She had no plans of overstimulating you; she’d save it for someday you were able to truly enjoy yourselves, taking her time to prepare your body.
Although seeing you drunk on your orgasm, crying like a little bitch was a heavenly sight, one she deeply missed.
“I’ll never get tired of your taste.” She smiled, pulling you into her lap once you’d calmed down. You hummed, trying not to pay her much attention while her sultry mouth placed kisses on your chest. “I missed you too much, baby… come on, don’t be difficult. You’ve been busy, too.”
Her words are truthful enough to make you sigh, grabbing her face with both hands. Her mouth is glistening, still filled with your arousal, and her bangs are messy, as if the wind had blown it up— you’ve never seen a prettier sight.
You wish you could have her all to yourself, forever.
“I love you.” Is all you answer. Your thumb travels to her lips— now rosy and slightly swollen, and you spread your arousal even more before giving Aeri another kiss; slow and passionate, just like she had done to you earlier on.
She smiles back, motioning to the movie playing on the TV. “And I love you more, baby. Now, let’s watch the movie? No funny business this time, I promise.”
You smile back, nodding. “Sure. Movie it is.”
Soon enough, your clothes were back on, and you were once again curled up with your girlfriend, now feeling much more relaxed and happy.
“Fucking finally! I’ve been wanting to get water for ages.” You hear Minjeong mumble, passing through the living room with her hands half-covering her eyes, afraid of seeing too much.
Before Aeri speaks up, Karina and Ningning’s screams are heard too, complaining from their rooms about how the two of you were gross and would have to do a massive cleaning session at the dorm, later.
Mortified, all you do is hide your face in the crook of Aeri’s neck, jokingly slapping her arm because she keeps laughing, content with how her day went.

February Challenge: Media Consumption Detox

The challenge
So I have this box. It's 29x40x22 cm, cardboard, I got it on a trip to Bunnings. And I'm only allowed to consume media that's literally in or represented in that box. For the whole month. No social media, no YouTube, nothing else. I'm allowed to add things into the box part way through, but I'm not allowed to take them out once they're in (except to use them, of course, but then they go back in the box).
I am allowed to use my phone/iPad/computer, but only for the media I've specified and put a placeholder in the box for, work, creative things (which means I can use Pinterest and Canva, as well as make posts on here as long as I don't use my dashboard), and checking in on my Etsy shop. To do this, I've put every social media or other content app (like my e reader app) into a folder so they're out of the way AND used one sec or Cold Turkey to block websites I don't want to use.
Why?
I don't think I value media enough. It's so convenient to me all the time, I just take it for granted, and I don't like that. I want to feel like the work that so many people put in to create these works means more to me than just the next cheap dopamine hit. This isn't a long term solution, but it'll hopefully give me a new perspective on media as a concept.
What's in the box?
Music
(V=LP vinyl, C=cassette tape)
V Bears in Trees - How to Build an Ocean: Instructions
C Bears in Trees mixtape
C Billy Bragg mixtape (to rock out to)
C Billy Bragg mixtape (to sit contemplatively/cry to)
V Billy Bragg - Worker's Playtime
C Coffee with Harvey
C Discarded Doll / Boot Up, Bitch (sides A and B, but separate mixes)
C Eu/Dysphoria / The People's Folk (sides A and B, but separate mixes)
V I Don't Know How But They Found Me - Razzmatazz
V Carole King - Tapestry
V The Mamas and the Papas - If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears
C The Nonstick Pans - Nineteen Sixty Four
V The Oh Hellos - Notos / Eurus
V The Oh Hellos - Boreas / Zephyrus
V Panic! at the Disco - Pretty. Odd.
V Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
V Simon and Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence
V The Young Veins - Take A Vacation
Books
The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction
The Handmaid's Tale (Margaret Atwood)
The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins)
Madame Bovary (Gustave Flaubert)
Good Girl, Bad Blood (Holly Jackson)
Ulysses (James Joyce)
my handwritten recipe book (I got the recipes from social media)
Other
Season 1 of Gilmore Girls (represented by an old video game case)
Season 2 of Gilmore Girls (represented by an old video game case)
Duolingo (represented by an old video game case)
Stardew Valley (represented by an old video game case)
a 1000 piece puzzle
a deck of cards
my tarot deck (mostly for visual art purposes)
Somehow, there's still a fair bit of space in there. Maybe one day I'll go to the library and pick up some more books, I don't know.
See you on the other side! I'll almost certainly be making posts during this time, but they might be about boring hyperspecific topics considering I won't be exposed to anything new.

Hey there everyone! Welcome to Blorbos From My Dash [UWU]. We're an NA based but open to EU members as well, and and we're a chill guild focusing on vibes, talking about lore and characters and ocs, running in-game content with each other (from raids to fractals to strikes to dungeons), hanging out, and sometimes hosting small events! While we largely started from a Tumblr oc focused Disco server, all of us originated on Tumblr and it is open to anyone ON Tumblr.
We have a guild hall we're working on getting more upgrades for (Windswept Haven), and generally focus on a chill, calm kind of vibe for all our involved players.
Rules are pretty simple:
Be chill with each other. If you have an issue with another player, if it's not dangerous, block them. You can be in the guild while blocking others.
There's no pressure to represent or participate in events or content, but you're always welcome to.
Be gentle with guildies. We're all at different levels of skill, even those of us who've been playing a long time.
All in all, just enjoy the vibes, enjoy having the cursed tag, and have fun!
These are subject to change as needed but I don't expect it to often.
Please see our pinned post for information on an invite!

about kanjis and the jp language in the world building of THLLDA, spoilers for route 0 minimum and maybe a bit after. random thought blerhggehies
so uh. hm how do i begin. kanjis and names i guess?
kanjis are the basic building block of jp language, and each character holds its own meaning. in terms of literacy shift, the jp language throughout history in terms of grammar hasnt had major shifts for over 1000 years. its possible to read a text from 8th century nara, though it would be challenging bc some kanjis refer to different things or have fallen out of use since.
on a very fundamental level, the meanings of kanjis have not particularly shifted too much, though JP does have the quirk of creating their own kanjis which does not exist in chinese, which is originally borrowed from.
so with that, the kanjis that goes into the names of these characters in THL also has the same meaning as today's JP.
so, specifically for Sumino 済野 and Aotsuki 蒼月, their family names mean Empty Field and Blue (pale?) Moon. so far so good, very in line with existing naming conventions. cool.
one thing to note is that JP names tend to be rooted in place and nature. for example, family names like 鈴木 (suzuki, ringing tree) 木村 (kimura, tree village) is very common. sometimes its a vague island, a place, a river, but in general its a vague place.
(exceptions for certain surnames that's more bestowed by the emperor but still following some kind of place locale nature logic)
for first names, it can be often nature or some kind of force. force of nature, force of human emotions, nature, an appeal, etc etc.
Takumi 拓海 (something like Crashing Waves but kanjis mean Clearing and Ocean), Eito 衛人(Defender) and Darumi 怠美 (Languid Beauty) is still in line with that logic.
what this implies is that the meaning of kanjis have largely not shifted in however long the TRC has been in isolation mode. now, we know that language and culture shifts over time even in isolation no matter how hard it tries to be controlled otherwise, so now there's implications going on here.
the biggest issue i see is that in spite of these characters given names still following the Nature and Place logic, there are effectively.... no real Nature or Place in the TRC. words like Sun, Moon and Ocean would undoubtedly lose its meaning and strength over time, so something is going on here. this means whoever is effectively controlling the TRC has made it a point to preserve culture as hard as it possibly can. in a nationalistic vibe even.
we see hints of this in the library itself, where there are a lot of redacted stuff that Takumi can't read. theres culture that are wholesale missing and yet things deemed important enough like certain Foreign (US/EU) films are archived alongside confirmed JP works like the VNs Darumi quotes. (Saya no uta and Sayonara wo oshiete). Naruto and dragonball and the other 100 shounen mangas Kyoshika is into.
this means, kanji is a part of this whole linguistic culture and is still being preserved so hard that they cant fully wipe out the origins to what these words are referencing.
this goes even deeper if we follow the nationalistic angle bc yeah old JP poetry and literature is still revered and preserved hardcore. on a practical level, these culture products serve to entertain and placate the populace as whoever is in charge goes about trying to do... things.
this also means that the culture of TRC has really not shifted much. stuff like takoyaki is still takoyaki and anpan is still anpan. if we deem these as culturally significant, the TRC will likely make it a point to not have that base change.
there happens to also be similar attempts made to prevent the linguistic naming sense of today's japanese from changing too much too. there is a thing called Kira Kira Names (sparkly names) thats a point of contention over in japan.
to put it simply, parents have been giving their kids names written in kanji (as per legal requirements), but giving it pronunciations only the parents would understand. this is the JP equivalent of Tragedeigh names.
these are names like Pikachu (光宙 / ぴかちゅう), and Prince (王子様 oujisama). names like these reportedly give massive confusion in the legal side of matters like hospitals and administrations, bc they are so atypical of how a kanji should be pronounced, or how a person is usually named. (like these are noun names level.)
so if we follow this logic and assume that similar things are happening in the TRC, its very much possible that theres a lot of manipulation and media control to make sure things stay unchanged for as long as they need/want

FAQs and Rules
There really aren't many hard rules for entries to the Fugitive Doctor Week. The main two are:
The fugitive Doctor has to appear or be discussed in your work
NO AI "ART". AI art is theft. If you enter AI art or writing, you get blocked.
And the slightly softer rules:
Tag nsfw as such
Try to tag spoilers and characters involved in your contributions so people can avoid them if necessary
plus some impulses to
Reblog entries to spread awesome art and meta
Leave comments or tags to say thank you and compliment the creators
Tag your friends that you think might enjoy the works so they can share in the fun!
But to answer some questions pre-emptively, here are some things you might be wondering about:
How do I enter works?
Just post them and either tag this blog (@thefugitivedoctorweek2025) or tag the post as fugitivedoctorweek2025
Is the event based solely on the TV show or is eu material allowed ?
Any source material is allowed, just please tag spoilers. Especially for newer works like the new big finish box set (-s, should the one in July already be out, which I doubt).
Am I allowed to include [this character] the fugitive Doctor has never met in canon?
Please do. Yes. 100% yes. This is what this is secretly about, I want to see her hang out with Jamie or Martha or blow up stuff with Ace or meet a Clara-echo so bad.
Are shipping fics/art allowed?
Allowed and encouraged.
Is gen fic/art (non-shipping content) allowed?
Allowed and encouraged.
Are AUs or crossovers allowed?
Absolutely, and any type of AU is strongly encouraged. There is only a slight chance if you make a crossover piece that I won't look at it bc I have the other source material blocked for spoilers. I'll still do my best to reblog it, though.
Is [this type of art work] allowed? How about meta analysis?
Yes! This is for ANY kind of art. (Except for AI. Which isn't art.) And we love to see meta, too!
Can I also enter something I have already posted before if it fits within a prompt?
Yes, totally, we are here to celebrate old works, too. Do feel invited to make something new on top of that, though ;)
Help, I can't work with the prompts for the day! What do I do?
Honestly, the prompts are meant as inspiration. You are invited to use as many of them as you like, but you can just as well go off of the quote or just a vibe. No one's judging or grading this <3
Are OCs/reader inserts/self inserts/etc allowed?
Anything is allowed. As long as it involves the fugitive Doctor and you have made it yourself, you may create whatever you like.
Do I need to post my entry on tumblr or can I post it on ao3/wattpad/etc?
You do not need to make a tumblr post. However, since I don't have much experience hosting - and exclusively am familiar with ao3 - I have made a collection on ao3 that you can post works to, but that's about as much as I can offer. If you would like to give me permission to make a tumblr post for your work, just dm me with the link and I will make a "further contributions" post once a day linking to all works that can be found off the site.
You haven't reblogged my contribution. Is there anything wrong with it?
Uhm - well either it is not the right date yet and I am holding out for the right moment, I just haven't gotten round to it yet today or I probably have made an honest mistake. In any case, just shoot me a message and I'll get back to you asap! Don't be shy to notify me, I do get things messed up easily and I know from my own experience you might feel like a bother, but you aren't. Promise <3
Anything else?
Please come to my ask box or just include your question in a reblog :)

RECENT SEO & MARKETING NEWS FOR ECOMMERCE, JULY 2024
If you are new to my Tumblr, I usually do these summaries of SEO and marketing news once a month, picking out the pieces that are most likely to be useful to small and micro-businesses.
You can get notified of these updates plus my website blog posts via email: http://bit.ly/CindyLouWho2Blog or get all of the most timely updates plus exclusive content by supporting my Patreon: patreon.com/CindyLouWho2
TOP NEWS & ARTICLES
There is a relatively new way to file copyright claims against US residents, called The Copyright Claims Board (CCB). I wrote more here [post by me on Patreon]
After a few years of handwringing and false starts, Google is abandoning plans to block third-party cookies in Chrome. Both Safari and Firefox already block them.
When composing titles and text where other keywords are found, it can be useful to have a short checklist of the types of keywords you need, as this screenshot demonstrates. While that title is too long for most platforms and search engines, it covers really critical points that should get mentioned in the product description and keyword fields/tags as well:
The core keywords that describe the item
What the customer is looking to do - solve a problem? Find a gift? Feel better?
What makes the product stand out in its field - why buy this instead of something else? Differentiating your items is something that should come before you get to the listing stage, so the keywords should already be in your head.
Relevant keywords that will be used in long tail searches are always great add-ons.
What if anything about your item is trendy now? E.g., sustainability? Particular colours, styles or materials/ingredients are always important.
SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES
Google’s June spam update has finished rolling out. And here is the full list of Google news from June.
Expect a new Google core update “in the coming weeks” (as if we needed more Google excitement).
Google’s AI overviews continue to dwindle at the top of search results, now only appearing in 7% of searches.
Despite Google trying to target AI spam, many poorly-copied articles still outrank the originals in Google search results.
Internal links are important for Google SEO. While this article covers blogging in particular, most of the tips apply to any standalone website. Google also recently did a video [YouTube] on the same topic.
Google had a really excellent second quarter, mostly due to the cloud and AI.
Not Google
OpenAI is testing SearchGPT with a small number of subscribers. Alphabet shares dropped 3% after the announcement.
SOCIAL MEDIA - All Aspects, By Site
General
New social media alert: noplace is a new app billed as MySpace for Gen Z that also has some similarities with Twitter (e.g., text-based chats, with no photos or videos at this time). iOS only at the moment; no Android app or web page.
Thinking of trying out Bluesky? Here are some tips to get the most out of it.
Facebook (includes relevant general news from Meta)
Meta’s attempt at circumventing EU privacy regulations through paid subscriptions is illegal under the Digital Markets Act, according to the European Commission. “if the company cannot reach an agreement with regulators before March 2025, the Commission has the power to levy fines of up to 10 percent of the company’s global turnover.”
If you post Reels from a business page, you may be able to let Meta use AI to do A/B testing on the captions and other portions shown. I personally would not do this unless I could see what options they were choosing, since AI is often not as good as it thinks it is.
Apple’s 30% fee on in-app ad purchases for Facebook and Instagram has kicked in worldwide as of July 1.
Facebook is testing ads in the Notifications list on the app.
Meta is encouraging advertisers to connect their Google Analytics accounts to Meta Ads, claiming “integration could improve campaign performance, citing a 22% conversion increase.”
Instagram
The head of Instagram is still emphasizing that the number of DM shares per post is a huge ranking factor.
LinkedIn
Another article on the basics of setting up LinkedIn and getting found through it.
You can now advertise your LinkedIn newsletters on the platform.
Pinterest
Pinterest is slowly testing an AI program that edits the background of product photography without changing the product.
Is Pinterest dying? An investment research firm thinks so.
Reddit
If you want to see results from Reddit in your search engine results, Google is the only place that can happen now.
More than ever, Reddit is being touted as a way to be found (especially in Google search), but you do have to understand how the site works to be successful at it.
Snapchat
Snapchat+ now has 9 million paying users, and they are getting quite a few new personalization updates, and Snaps that last 50 seconds or less.
Threads
Threads has hit 175 million active users each month, up from 130 million in February.
TikTok
TikTok has made it easier to reuse your videos outside of the site without a watermark.
TikTok users can now select a custom thumbnail image for videos, either a frame from the clip itself, or a still image from elsewhere.
Twitter
You can opt out of Twitter using your posts as data for its AI, Grok.
YouTube
YouTube has new tools for Shorts, including one that makes your longer videos into Shorts.
Community Spaces are the latest YouTube test to try to get more fan involvement, while moving users away from video comments.
(CONTENT) MARKETING (includes blogging, emails, and strategies)
Start your content marketing plans for August now, including back-to-school themes and Alfred Hitchcock’s birthday on August 13.
ONLINE ADVERTISING (EXCEPT INDIVIDUAL SOCIAL MEDIA AND ECOMMERCE SITES)
Google Ads now have several new updates, including blocking misspellings.
Google’s new Merchant Center Next will soon be available for all users, if they haven’t already been invited. Supplemental feeds are now (or soon will be) allowed there.
STATS, DATA, TRACKING
Google Search Console users can now add their shipping and return info to Google search through the Console itself. This is useful for sites that do not pay for Google Ads or use Google’s free shopping ads.
BUSINESS & CONSUMER TRENDS, STATS & REPORTS; SOCIOLOGY & PSYCHOLOGY, CUSTOMER SERVICE
The second part of this Whiteboard Friday [video with transcript] discusses how consumer behaviour is changing during tight economic times. “People are still spending. They just want the most for their money. Also, the consideration phase is much more complex and longer.” The remainder of the piece discusses how to approach your target market during these times.
Prime Day was supposedly the best ever for Amazon, but they didn’t release any numbers. Adobe Analytics tracked US ecommerce sales on those days and provides some insight. “Buy-now, pay-later accounted for 7.6% of all orders, a 16.4% year-over-year increase.”
MISCELLANEOUS
You know how I always tell small business owners to have multiple revenue streams? Tech needs to have multiple providers and backups as well, as the recent CrowdStrike and Microsoft issues demonstrate.
If you used Google’s old URL shortener anywhere, those links will no longer redirect as of August 25 2024.

The Periodic Symbols, in the order that I list them, are: H He Li Be B C N O F Ne Na Mg Al Si P S Cl Ar K Ca Sc Ti V Cr Mn Fe Co Ni Cu Zn Ga Ge As Se Br Kr Rb Sr Y Zr Nb Mo Tc Ru Rh Pd Ag Cd In Sn Sb Te I Xe Cs Ba La Hf Ta W Re Os Ir Pt Au Hg Tl Pb Bi Po At Rn Fr Ra Ac Rf Db Sg Bh Hs Mt Ds Rg Cn Nh Fl Mc Lv Ts Og Ce Pr Nd Pm Sm Eu Gd Tb Dy Ho Er Tm Yb Lu Th Pa U Np Pu Am Cm Bk Cf Es Fm Md No Lr
Spaces, capitalization, emojis, numbers, and punctuation will not be taken into account. For example, the term "lush🍃13garden" would still count for Mercury (Hg). Letters are the only thing that interrupt symbols.
Tags:
#100% - Post contains all 118 periodic symbols. This hasn't happened yet, but when it does, I promised that I'd cut the post up like a newspaper and make a periodic table out of it to make the new blog header #90% - Post contains at least 106 periodic symbols. Only one post has gotten this so far and it was a list of every bird 200k characters long #75% - Post contains at least 88 periodic symbols #50% - Post contains at least 59 periodic symbols #<50% - Post only contains 58 or fewer periodic symbols #missing single - Post does not include at least one single-letter element symbol (H B C N O F P S K V Y I W U) #not a tally - Used for anything that isn't the main gimmick #arsenic potassium sulfur - Asks #thanks for the tag! - Post that somebody requested I make a tally of #periodic table tournament - I did a tournament a while ago for the best periodic table element. I highly doubt that this tag will ever be used again lol #bonus content - Fun little things that are related to the periodic table gimmick but aren't the standard tallies, like making a 5-sentence story without any periodic symbols or drawing a superhero oc mascot
Under the cut are some things to keep in mind before submitting asks or tagging me in a post:
I try to avoid any piece of moving media (video/gif) that has words in it of any kind. I also don't count alt text.
I usually don't analyze anything fandom-related, since nothing good can come from a fandom post leaving its circle. There are some exceptions I'll make, though.
I use a script to search for the symbols, but it can't read the words in images, so they have to be retyped into the script 100% manually. I'll most likely still do it, but just keep that in mind when sending in posts with lots of images.
I'll only analyze posts where it's very clear what order things are read in; charts, graphs, doodle pages, and other images with words all over the place won't be counted.
When it comes to URLs, I don't count them for the main tally unless they show up in a screenshot or as a tag somewhere in the thread; instead, the URLs of the users in the thread are listed out afterwards in their own separate tallies, with the elements listed in the order that they appear in the person's URL (this does not include URLs that only appear in screenshots/tags).
If you tag me in a post, I won't be counting anything that you added to the thread, though you will still be part of the secondary URL tally.
When I make a tally, I (usually) won't be adding my own comments, and on the occasions that I do, whatever is in my comment is not added to the final tally.
I tend to stray away from analyzing posts with other similar gimmick blogs already in them these days. This is because we all tend to influence each other's results- for example, if I analyzed a post where alphabetcompletionist tallied up all 26 letters, that would (potentially) artificially add Cd, Mn, and No to my tally. If I did end up doing this, I would be highlighting Cd, Mn, and No in a different color to denote that they would not have been there had I not reblogged from alphabetcompletionist directly.
My main account is not disclosed at this time; please do not try and find out what it is or I will block you. Another blog I run that is publicly known is @cantheykillmacbeth, if you just want to see more from me.
There might be times where I will accidentally reblog from someone other than the source of the post, or where I can't due to the source having been deactivated. If you go digging into the people that I reblog posts from, I am not responsible for what you see. If you blame me for what you saw from the people I happen to follow, then you shouldn't have gone looking in the first place. That's on you.
I will not be adding my gimmick to posts about serious topics. This is not because I do not care about these topics, but the exact opposite: I do not want the gimmick of this blog to be used to detract from anyone's message. These sorts of gimmicks are meant to add to the humor of a post, not act as a twisted punchline to a serious discussion. If you tag me in a serious post, you will be ignored (at best).
If you don't like gimmick blogs or whatever, then just. Block me, I guess?? I'm not gonna stop having fun because some rando on the internet doesn't like funny elements.

anonymous asked:
what addons do you use for firefox? i've just downloaded it to switch from chrome (derogatory)
somecunttookmyurl answered:
firefox (affectionate)
UBlock Origin obviously. out-the-box works just fine but has a bunch of extra privacy/tracking/spam filters you can enable
Decentraleyes protects you against tracking through “free” curated content delivery and works alongside UBlock (or any of the other common adblocking addons)
I Don’t Care About Cookies good for EU users where GDPR made it so every site ever in the universe asks you to accept cookies and privacy terms seventeen times a day. will just auto-accept for you. never see an annoying popup again! but only use in conjunction with…
Cookie Auto Delete does what it says on the tin. will automatically flush cookies, cache, and data when you close a tab. those cookies you just auto accepted? they’re gone now. whitelist any sites you wanna stay logged in on and let the rest fucking perish
Don’t Track Me Google removes that annoying link conversion when you copy google results. you know when it changes from “site.com” to “encrypted.google.com/randomnonsensefor200charactersblahblahblah”? yeah. this stops that happening. fuck off, google.
Don’t Accept image/webp blocks sites from using the most useless file extension known to mankind so you can save as .jpg or .gif as god intended. fuck webp. seriously. what even is that.
Bypass Paywalls Clean exactly what you think it is
HTTPS Everywhere automatically adds ecrypted security to any site that supports https (you can do this manually by adding the s yourself to any url but… who can be fuckin bothere amirite? this does it for you)
New XKit …duh
Google Search Filter allows you to remove domains from your searches forever. pinterest? gone. weheartit? nuked. also works on duckduckgo. never type “-pinterest” into a search again.
Simple Tab Groups allows you to group tabs together and shove them out of sight, which is nice if you’re researching something and don’t want 50 bajillion jstor tabs clogging up your normal browsing session
#firefox#firefox addons#reposting because the original post cannot be reblogged anymore#i hate this new feature tbh#useful

Have you considered trying out threads?
No.
I will never use any Meta product, ever. I consider it to be one of the most nefarious companies on the planet. They engage in the worst kind of surveillance capitalism, and they have countless policies that are extremely destructive and exploitative of their users.
Don't even get me started on my rants about Facebook and how poisonous it has been for our social culture. I absolutely despise Facebook and everything it stands for.
Threads has such notoriously bad privacy policies that it's banned in the EU.
Meta's policies with regard to online identities are also extremely whorephobic, transphobic and problematic for many queer users. Facebook famously came under heavy fire a while back for blocking the accounts of drag performers, trans people and sex workers who were using names that didn't match their ID.
There was a story making the rounds recently about a sex worker who was essentially doxxed by Meta when she discovered that they had quietly changed the display name of her Threads account from the name she uses for sex work, to her actual legal name without her consent!
And Threads is by all accounts a shitty platform that is entirely algorithm-driven. In other words, there is no option to simply see a chronological feed of the accounts/content you choose to follow. Everything on Threads is basically just Twitter's "For you" tab.
So to answer your question, that's an emphatic no.

The West is losing the information war
Countries like Russia and China have spent years turning disinformation into a central pillar of statecraft. They don’t just lie—they lie loudly, constantly, and across every available platform. They’ve mastered the art of sowing confusion, undermining trust, and deepening political divides inside democratic societies. This isn’t done by accident—it’s done through well-funded, highly coordinated campaigns that blend state media, covert troll farms, social media influencers, and manipulated algorithms.
At the same time, they maintain an iron grip on their own information environments. In Russia, independent media is silenced, dissenters are jailed, and the internet is censored through so-called “sovereign” infrastructure that can block or throttle unwanted content. In China, the state filters all online speech through the Great Firewall, bans platforms like YouTube and Twitter, and floods domestic social media with tightly controlled propaganda. Algorithms are not tools for engagement—they are instruments of obedience.
That’s the key to their advantage: they control what their citizens see while exploiting the openness of our societies. We can’t inject truth into theirs—but they can inject lies into ours. Their disinformation can reach our phones in seconds, while our facts can’t even get past their digital borders. It’s a deeply asymmetrical fight, where authoritarian states operate with speed, scale, and impunitywhile democracies struggle to respond without undermining our own values of free speech and transparency.
These regimes don’t wait around for approval. They don’t worry about press freedom or public debate. If they want to launch an influence campaign, they do it—quickly and quietly. They have entire networks producing and spreading their messages in dozens of languages, 24/7.
Worse still, they’ve gotten very good at grabbing attention. They use social media superspreaders, conspiracy influencers, and flashy TikTok videos to package their propaganda into something that feels exciting, rebellious, or funny—even when it’s completely false. They tell simple, emotionally charged stories that spread like wildfire. And all this is supercharged with AI.
And what do we counter that with? Dry press releases from EU officials. Long reports. Monotone statements from diplomats. Detailed debunking articles hidden behind paywalls, or buried deep in PDF reports that almost no one reads. Good intentions—delivered with all the flair of a tax form. Most of it never reaches the people actually being targeted by disinformation. It’s not that we don’t have the facts—it’s that we’re terrible at making people care about them.
Meanwhile, the information battlefield has already shifted. In Finland, half of teenagers between 13 and 18 now get their news from TikTok. And it’s not just influencers and entertainment—even North Korea is now publishing propaganda on the platform. That’s the level of reach and adaptability we’re up against. Authoritarian regimes are speaking directly to the next generation, using their language and their media. And we’re still whispering from behind paywalls and official podiums.
We’ve already seen how devastating information warfare can be when left unchecked. In January 2014, 60% of Russians had a positive view of Ukrainians. Then the Kremlin launched a relentless defamation campaign on national TV and social media—painting Ukrainians as Nazis, traitors, or puppets of the West. By 2015, the numbers had flipped: 60% of Russians now had a negative view of Ukrainians. This is how propaganda works. And when you control the entire information ecosystem, it works terrifyingly well.
But at the same time, Ukraine learned to fight back. Since 2014, and especially after Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukrainians have treated information like a front line. They’ve built partnerships between government, civil society, and creative communities. They’ve used humor, memes, music, and viral videos to expose lies and boost morale. They work around the clock—not because it’s trendy, but because they understand just how destructive these manipulation campaigns can be. In Ukraine, disinformation isn’t an abstract threat—it’s a weapon that softens targets before the bombs fall.
Take Russia: it’s spending nearly $2 billion a year on state propaganda. China’s media operations are even more extensive and opaque. Meanwhile, the European Union is spending a tiny fraction of that trying to defend the truth.
It’s not just about money—it’s about mindset. We’ve been playing defense, trying to fact-check lies after they’ve gone viral. That’s not enough. We need to get ahead of the problem.
And we can’t just focus on short-term fixes. Both Russia and China plan their information strategies decades ahead—and we should too. That means giving more resources and support to modern media creators—influencers, podcasters, digital artists, futurists, analysts, visionaries. These are the people shaping how millions think and feel. We need to invest in the platforms, voices, and formats that actually reach people today.
We also need to build long-term resilience. We need to build a vaccine against online disinformation. And that vaccine is education.
That means warning people before the lies start spreading. It means teaching media literacy in schools, so young people know how to spot manipulation. It means putting clear, truthful, engaging content in the places where people actually spend time—YouTube, TikTok, Instagram—not hiding it away on obscure government and EU websites.
But defense alone won’t win this war. We must take the fight to the adversary’s doorstep. Authoritarian regimes have real vulnerabilities—corruption, repression, inequality, and elite hypocrisy. These are pressure points we should be targeting with truth-based messaging that empowers dissent, exposes abuse, and undermines their control over public perception. This isn’t about regime change—it’s about using facts to challenge the myths they rely on to stay in power. Just like they exploit our openness, we must be willing to expose their rot.
This isn’t about copying authoritarian tactics. It’s about defending the values we care about—freedom, transparency, democracy—with creative and bold strategies.
Do we really need to wait until Russia is sending drones and troops across our borders to finally take this seriously?
The information war is here. We don’t get to choose whether we’re part of it. But we can choose to stop losing.
